My husband enjoyed the Basil Fried Rice. I chose the Harajuku roll, which was tuna & yellowtail roll. It wasn’t as tasty as I would’ve imagined. It wasn’t spicy at all. This establishment is BYOB, which led to the 4-star rating.

The other roll is the “Smoking Vegan” with shiitake, cucumber & cilantro, topped with sweet potato, spicy mayo, unagi sauce & seared for a slightly smokey finish.

My first visit was for a quick lunch. The location is convenient--next to I94 and easy to get on and off.

The lunch special fairly price, the food quality will not disappoint, service is 10 stars.

Delivery Driver) Im sure this place is good, but when it comes to delivery not so much, wether its the system or not, get told few mins (5 mins)to wait, 10 mins passes by and still. Today is a tuesday wasn’t busy when i got here either.

The seaweed was too chewy. Rice vinegar was too vinegary.

Been coming here when I’m in town for 13 years it’s the best food 10/10 will always come here when possible!

The food is good but the service is terrible, never dare to go at night because they will only be in a hurry without allowing you to eat quietly, nor do you place an order to pick you up guided by the hours they have published why they close the kitchen an hour before, definitely the location of Roscoe has a much better attention and quality of service.

There was this couple next to us, the guy came in set his phone up and started watching a movie. The phone was loud and very disturbing and annoying. If you want to watch a movie, order delivery and stay in your house. Very very horrible.

Not what I was expecting and certainly not consistent with the photos on the profile. The food was average. It is having a full bar but this location certainly didn’t.

Well prepared & plated Sushi & the best Miso soup that I've ever tasted!! I'm definitely looking forward to visiting again and trying different items on the menu! 😋

I don't particularly care for the sushi from this restaurant, so I typically order what I KNOW they prepare well and what won't be frustrated with:
A side (or 2) of Sushi rice
Steamed Jasmine rice
Steamed vegetables
That's it. No fuss, no disappointment.

Awesome crab Rangoon

so my sister and her husband went to this place tonight. he is currently undergoing chemotherapy and has a hard time eating. he ordered one unagi. ONE. cost two bucks. not only did they not say anything, they plated it beautifully like it was a whole meal. and he said it was delicious. would give this place ten stars if i could.

Save yourself the stress and avoid this place like the plague. These people are completely brain dead. This is the second time in a row they gave me a pick up time for my to go order and had me waiting there over 30 mins for my order so this was not a one time thing. We spent over $100 on carry out food. There are so many other options in Chicago, it makes much more sense to just find another place.

My favorite dish is the Pad See Ew - you can ask for it gluten free! The parking lot is a little small but nice to walk to if you live close. Never had any issues ordering.. try them out!

I was convinced I didn't like sushi until I ate here. Also the last time I ate here, someone I was with left their phone at the table and as we were walking away from the building one of the waitresses literally ran outside to give him his phone back. If that doesn't scream "we care about our customers," I don't know what does. You guys rock 🤘

Food was delicious, server forgot to put in order for one of our dishes,and also brought out 1 meal to our table, while the others sat an additional 25 minutes waiting for their maki's. Food should have came altogether, so we would all eat together.

They have great lunch specials! The Thai ice coffee was pretty strong. For the size, it was worth it. There is limited seating inside. The bathroom is located upstairs. The service was very nice and attentive. Very close walk to train station! Great little spot for lunch or dinner.

I’ve eaten her many different times but this my be my last unfortunately. I ordered a tofu veggie soup and within three hours of my order I felt bloated and sick. I ended up spending the rest of the night vomiting from food poisoning. I didn’t eat anything else prior to this so I knew it was the soup. I missed a friend of mines bachelor party and a birthday because I was too sick to attend. I’m not sure what happened because normally the quality of the food here is good.

Sad! I moved out of Chicago and came back just to come here. But yesterday will be the last time. At the end of my dinner a big roach appeared on the booth. A customer next to me ended up killing it. We waved a waitress down to let her know. It did not even phase her. She barely apologized. It was seriously disgusting. You guys need to get it together.

Now that I have discovered this place after coming back from Kenya, this is officially my go to place for sushi!! I love their poke bowls as well!

The one stand out was the service and the crab Rangoon. We ordered the fukudome and dragon.

We ordered from this place for a small company party and it was absolutely great. We loved everything including how nice, attentive and accurate the staff was with our order. We definitely would order again and again.

Ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box. The star of the meal (chicken teriyaki) had mushrooms in it which I wasn’t used to but that wasn’t the issue, the chicken itself with the sauce tasted horrific. The fried tempura was alright, and the sushi was the only thing I liked besides the green tea mochi ice cream. The miso soup was mediocre. Definitely had way better elsewhere.

Came here, as their restaurant States they close at 930pm. We arrived at 9pm. The hostess asked us how can she help. The open sign is still on the door and the door is open. We asked to be seated, just to be told the restaurant was closed.
We said ok.
Can we at least order to go, since you guys state you close and 930pm.
She says let me check.
She comes back and says oh, our kitchen closes at 9pm.
I said well technically that means your restaurant closes at 9pm then, correct?
She giggles and smiles and says…yes.
Well why are you promoting 930pm???

Worse sushi ever.We felt that the sushi they served us was refrigerated and the rice was cold, hard and chewy… like from the Jewels frozen section… We confronted the hostess and she said that that is the way it supposed to be… like this is the first time we have eaten sushi from this place…. We order Miso soup her thumbs were inside the bowl, poor customer service and disoriented hostess, all confused with her orders.

Have been eating in as well as delivery for 11 years and this time was really bad. The mini egg rolls were dry and tasteless and the dragon roll tasted really fishy. But the worst was the California Maki Roll. The plastic wrap used in the rolling process was still inside! Not a pleasant surprise to say the least. I called and complained. The woman I talked to didn't quite understand what I meant. She said the next time I ordered let them know I was entitled to a free California Maki Roll. She has my name but I'm not confident it'll happen. Really bad experience.

Best beef fried rice I’ve ever had. I am super picky about beef, but the meat here was flavorful and tender.

It’s ok. The sushi is decent, the panang curry not so much.

Everything they do, sushi, noodle dishes, apps, entrees they do amazingly well. I can honestly say I come here at least once a week, keep it up hot woks!

I’m putting their kids through college. That’s how often I order.

They have a great assortment of items to choose from and all of it’s good. The staff is very friendly too.

Nothing special about this place. The Thai iced tea was pretty good. Skip the chicken satay and mini egg rolls. The noodle dishes were okay, I've had better and worse. Lawrence fish market still has the best sushi for the area.

Never been here before. Had miso soup. I had it once before somewhere else and wasn't a fan. But here, it was absolutely delicious and perfect on a cold, rainy day like.

The sauce for the Crab Rangoon was sweet, but not overwhelming, and tasted of apricots. At least that's what I thought. When I asked, I was assured there was no apricot in it . It was just Thai Chili Sauce. Try it for yourself and let me know what you think.

The wanton wrappers were thin and delicate, but very crispy. And the filling was rich and creamy.

The chicken wings were small, but surprisingly tasty. The sauce had a mild bbq flavor with notes of pineapple or oranges which was complimented well by the the fresh lemon wedge they gave me.

I asked the server about the size of the wings. She said they intentionally picked small wings because the sauce was able to permeate throughout the chicken, giving every morsel a generous coating of flavor. And she was right! It's not always about the amount, but it is always about the taste. The sauce even kicks up the flavor of the shaved carrots and cabbage served with the wings.

But the best part was the Beef Teriyaki Bento Box. Shrimp and Vegetable Tempera. The vegetables were tender and not overcooked.

Same for the shrimp. The batter looked thick, but was light and fluffy. The sushi rolls were light and creamy. The Teriyaki sauce was thin, but was extremely flavorful. And the coleslaw had a peanut sauce on it that knocked me completely out.

I wanted to try the mango pudding, but couldn't eat another bite. So I got an order to go. I'll let you know how it was at another time 😉.

I will definitely come here again. Worth every penny.

Used to be really good. I don't know what happened. I ordered an 18dollar poke bowl that was advertised with tuna and black rice. The rice was tasteless and clumpy, and only 1/2 the bowl was an actual poke bowl. At least 1/2 of it was what looked like what came out of a bag of mixed greens from Jewel.

Food here is phenomenal and cheap. I've been wanting to go here for years and now am so sad that I postponed it for so long. 10/10 will be coming here again.

For a hip-aspiring restaurant on always congested Pulaski practically in the shadows of the Kennedy overpass and a postage stamp sized parking lot, HWCS always draws a crowd and you'll only have to go there once to find out why. The sushi is very good and their hot dishes (drawn from all of the usual Asian cuisines) are fresh, well-presented, and downright delicious. I recommend the chicken satay, gyoza, and untraditional egg rolls for appetizers. You can't go wrong with the sushi and if you want something hot their curries are all very good and their noodle dishes are *chef's kiss* all winners. The raspberry jasmine iced tea and the Thai iced coffee are good beverage choices or you can byob if you want something stronger. Check this place out!

Delicious food, but 2nd weekend in a row of food not being ready at designated pick up time set by restaurant. Placed 2 orders for pick up this weekend and last weekend and had to wait over 30 min past their set time for order placed online. Suggest updating website to state a more accurate estimated time for pick up since many customers were waiting for their pick up orders.

Never tried this place but read good reviews. I called 8pm on 12/31/21. I asked about their pad thai on Ubereats. They don't list chicken as a protein but they do list "no chicken" which is a conundrum. They asked for my name and they said they would wait on my order and make sure it has chicken. As soon as I hung up the phone to place the order. I was notified that while browsing their menu, the restaurant had logged off. I placed my $50 order with another restaurant because of a spiteful employee🤷‍♀️

Was my favorite sushi place. Only ordered from them. Now they’re not on DoorDash anymore. What a shame. Looks like I need to find a different sushi place now.
