Went with my youngest kiddo. Portions were huge, good for the price. Flavor was good/okay, not great. Photo attached was a kids meal for $12. That is amazing portions and could feed my 10/11 yr old kids. Massaman Curry was okay. Labelled as spicy, but honestly didnβt have much of any spice to it. Very watery broth, ended up leaving a lot of broth behind as there was no good way to transport it home.
Overall, fine visit. Might not be a go-to, but still decent.
My family and I have been going to Dao Sushi for 5+ years. We have never had any issues or complaints about the food or the service. Every time we go we have an amazing time and leave in a food coma. This time around things were very different. The service we received this night did not serve very well. Some of our party did not receive any cups of water, we had to get up and ask other waiters for things because we could not find ours. My husband had to wait in front to find utensils for our party after dinner was already served. All of our empty plates did not get removed from the table. It was so bad we had to move our empty dishes to another table and our drinks were never refilled until we asked. I definitely wish we would have made our reservations for a different night or had a different server. Dao Sushi is not a cheap restaurant but she definitely made it feel like we were in one.
The sushi chef deserves an ovation every time a plate leaves his station. Servers aren't pushy and give you space to enjoy your dining experience. The music is at a comfortable level and the acoustics don't have you keyed into other patrons conversations and vice versa. Such a great place.
Actually had reservations somewhere else but accidents on the highway made us stumble onto Dao, and weβre glad we did. Situated in a strip mall of restaurants you would never know it when you walk in the door. Stylish and open the decor was really nice. The food is fantastic, chicken satay was cooled well and the peanut sauce was 10/10. The tom kha gai soup was top notch, and our curryβs were just delicious. They were not only very good flavor wise, they were large enough you take home for dinner. My red curry was loaded with shrimp. We will be back, they also do hibatchi and sushi which we have to try.
The waitress was not attentive. Basically she brought our order, we finished water and drinks, and not even once she checked in if we need anything else. I am mixed on the food, some rolls had too much rice, it was just ok. Honestly I was little disappointed, even my husband was and he usually never complains.
I recommend the volcano roll if you like warm and spicy sushi, "crunch roll with spicy white tuna, jalapeΓ±o, cream cheese, avocado and crab meat" the fried calamari is good crunchy not to chewy,

Pretty sure the sushi or something else there gave me food poisoning. Also what Asian restaurant has no Asian people front of house? Our waiter seemed like he would rather die than do his job.

Best fried rice in history
The quality of sushi went down since the last time we dined in. I ordered an angel hair roll and the description said it was crunchy but instead it was super soggy no flavor. The chicken fried rice was just bland... what the heck guys?! Shame it was one of my favorite places for sushi.
Solid lunch specials on Sushi. Try it out
Used to go to Dao near oakbrook and were delighted to find it in Burr ridge. We were looking for some of the old menu items which weren't available.
The lunch specials gave us many options and were price conscious. Good food. Staff were friendly and on top of customers.
My favorite place to be , we have been coming here for over 14 years. Always fresh sushi, great variety of appetizers, very friendly staff.
My go to spot for some of the best sushi in the Chicago burbs!
Gross sushi. They say king crab inside but really it's kani kama imitation crab. Both the spicy tuna and spicy salmon are cut with tempura flakes and smell horrible. I almost got sick after smelling them
The drinks were excellent. I believe the bartenders name was Leanna? I will definitely be back and highly recommend this place to others. Sushi and Pad Thai are superb.
The waiter (Ava) was absolutely amazing she was so helpful and even gave me son a special treat because it was his birthday last time I didnβt enjoy very much but this time if was a hole different experience and it was so much better thanks to Ava I hope she gets a raise
Wonderful food. I had Gyoza, Burr Ridge Roll, and Curry Fried Rice (added shrimp). All amazing π
Everything was so fresh with generous portions. I didnβt expect to be so impressed in the strip mall behind town center. We shared the tuna dumpling which was fantastic, the red dragon, green something and spider roll which were all tasty and beautifully served.
Great place. Quality sushi, and knowledgeable staff. I throw little tests at the sushi chefs for recommendations and roll techniques chasing the umami dream here. The outdoor seating is beautiful, and the indoor atmosphere seems to get better every time with Suttle changes here or there. Great spirit selection, and Sapporo is always on tap. Amazing hibatchi style cuisine. Robbie and his staff are V.I.P. thank you guys for raising the bar.

Hibachi experience is fun plan to spend extra time for larger parties.

Great attentive service. Will return.
Had a great time. Our chef was excellent and the food and whole experience was great.
We will definitely be back! I had the lettuce wraps, miso soup and unagi roll, and it was excellent. My husband enjoyed his udon and my daughter orders the kids chicken and pot stickers. The quality was wonderful, the drink options were very good, and the service was friendly, funny and helpful.
This place used to be great, not anymore. We ordered takeout 2 apps, 4 entrees and 7 rolls The chicken fried rice had no flavor. The Thai basil chicken had barely any chicken, the spicy tuna roll was neon orange, the rockin nepalm tasted like straight buffalo sauce, all the rolls were half the size they used to be. Farewell Dao, hello Wasabi we will never stray again.
Food, service and pricing was excellent. Really looking forward to our next visit.
2 times I came here once 2.45pm and once 2.34pm and both times doors were closed. Hours states 3.00pm closing time but its not, its 2.30pm.
Tamy was great. She sat us right away even though there was supposed to be an hour wait and was very communicative. She kept our drinks full and our food came quickly and was delicious. She was the best, she better get a raise!!!
Never coming back! Food was bland, pad Thai was terrible, sushi rice was on the undercooked side. Modifications were not listened to. Orange chicken was dry, no sauce, crab ragoo was hard, not flakey and either sitting for a while or not made fresh. There should be better descriptions of food items or pictures. Management is no help and do not take accountability for server taking order incorrectly. Also dietary restrictions/allergies NOT listened to.
We love their food and drinks.
Incredible food and super friendly staff.
Very very very slow, we have our dinner after 45 min.
Amazing food and service.
In Mongolian beef , beef like a resin
I suggested this restaurant to have an evening cocktail and small bite with my best friend. I had patronized this restaurant before on a lunch visit and the food and service was superb. Today however turned into an uncomfortable situation. A belligerent guy arrived with a woman in tow an hour into us being at the bar and requested that I move my handbag out the seat he wants to sit in. No problem, but the fact you are a guy approaching me in an aggressive loud drunk way does not sit well with me nor should it the restaurant. After exchanging a few words and him sitting the bartender asked him was he drinking his normal which bluntly spoke privilege in that establishment. Now the bartender is not responsible for what he did but where her failure arise is catering to him and forgetting us so much as we had to ask her for utensils to put our to goβs into the containers. I watched the drunk guy and bartender discuss a woman who was bought a Benz by whatever guy they deem dumb and so on. He was so embarrassing whereas the woman he was with sat next to me at the bar and dared not to make eye contact or speak any words lost in his ego. This intimidating behavior and special treatment should not be allowed!
Lunch was fine. Our server was very helpful and informative. The atmosphere was impacted by the awkward entryway and dim lighting on a gorgeous autumn day.
Delicious food, nice atmosphere just need to speed up service here π Waited long to order when itβs not fully booked. Otherwise great place and stuff is friendly
Our favorite date night spot! Love the rolls and the appetizers.
I love this place. We always order the beef pad thai or the Mongolian beef. So yummy
My favorite place for Sushi in IL π₯π
Great customer service! The waiter was new but made sure he answered all of my questions and checked to make sure I had everything I needed.
Great food
Frequent customer, always a great meal at Dao. Robbie goes above and beyond to make sure each dinning experience lives up to expectations
The manager tonight (8/22/23) was awesome. Donβt know his name, but never saw somebody handle a dumpster fire so professionally. Give the man a raise
Love this place so much, especially their green curry and pad thai, sushi is delicious as well because they have a veriety or cold and hot rolls! I followed this resturant since they relocated to this location from oakbrook, IL. I was so upset that they moved away because it use to be right around the corner from me and I would bring all my friends here for lunch or dinner at least once a week. Now it's a little farther so I don't go as often. Maybe once a year now but it always a treat to eat there. Staff is chill, but food is very worth it. You can't go wrong with just any of their rolls.
Very good Thai food with excellent service. But didn't find it on Trip Advisor!
Awesome happy hour. The bartender Skye is amazing. The Burr Ridge roll is my favorite there. The poppers are delicious too. You have to try this place.
My all time favorite sushi! Absolutely love!! Tammy & Kaylee(servers) are thee sweetest!!!
I really like the lunch special bento box! Great deal!
Such an awesome experience with our server, Garan. He was kind with a great attention to detail. All the best to him.
Awesome place to eat!
Service was terrible. We got there and it took us 20 minutes for us to even be offered a drink. I had to go to the front to ask for them to get a server. 3 boys were huddled by the kitchen just talking. This is burridge. Service has to be better than this. Waited another 25 minutes to be brought the check. This is ridiculous. Food was amazing, but if this is the service youβre offering, I can go buy sushi elsewhere. No one apologized, no one offered a discount, nothing. Does not matter what age you are, or how busy it is, offering an apology is plain courteous. All I got was mean looks from the hostess for asking for the check. LOVED this place, but not worth the terrible service.
Terrible Pad Thai asked for it to be hot it was a bland white people imitation take on it waist of my money!
Always a positive experience at Dao! Our server Tamy gave us amazing service. She was very attentive to our needs in the restaurant! She brought us everything we asked for with no issues. Also, she was a very sweet and kind server to talk to. The food is always amazing here with that awesome service!
I've been coming here for the last couple of years, food is good and staff is solid
Just so everyone's aware. No hibachi on Tuesdays.. very odd.
The best sushi in town! My husband and I have been dining here for years. Our server Tami is awesome! We request her every time. She already has our table set and ready to take our orders. She already knows our favorite dishes ( Tuna Dumplings get their own 5 stars) ! Thank you Tami for making our Friday tradition even more special !!!!
Kaitlyn was great, kept checking on us, great personality.
Terrible service, I waited about 15 min after got seated and even tried multiple times to get someoneβs attention to even come to my table. Wonβt come here again.
I have been there twice so far so good. Love the taste and quantity.
Waiter was rude and made fun of my stutter, food is over priced.
Best pad thai around
Been going there since they opened. Have been greeted nicer by restaurants that I have never been to before. Definitely not friendly, totally indifferent that we were there. Not expecting a big huge welcome, but a hello would be nice. 3 of us for lunch and was given 1 menu, which was dirty. Server delivered food, and never came back to see if we needed anything or if we wanted anything else. Would have ordered another round of drinks, but he never came back. Will not be going there again and will not recommend this restaurant!! Better sushi restaurants in the area with nicer wait staff.
All of the dishes we ordered were π, sushi and Thai, the Soro saki was good. Overall A+. Def will come back. π₯
I've always had a positive experience here. I frequently go for the sushi, but I have also gone for the hibachi. Although I do have my favorites, I don't believe I've ever had a sushi roll that I didn't like. Try Dragon on Fire while you can! Also fantastic was the hibachi. I visit this place at least a few times per month.
I'm not usually a fan of sushi but got dragged here and I really enjoyed the food.
I love this place!!! The red curry with chicken fried rice is AMAZING!!! I also love the tempura poppers. I am so happy we found this place. My husband and I eat here at least once every couple weeks! Soo soo yummy!
Really wonder sushi and absolutely the greatest staff. I have been several times on business trips and it has been the same each time...fantastic! Reasonable price and well worth it. I have only eaten the sushi, sashimi, nirigi parts of the menu, but all are amazing. Really great sushi rice by the way.
Service and drinks are great... the sushi has been average as of late ( last 3 visits have been underwhelming) previously had always had solid good sushi... atmosphere is quaint needs updating greatly
Massaman Curry... oh yeah. Delicious. Nice place and will have to come back to dine in. Small bar area. Plenty of parking near by. Good service.
Obsessed with the tempura poppers
The server was very short with us and didn't seem knowledgeable about the menu. It was as if he couldn't wait to walk away from our table but there was only one lunch server it seemed so he was super busy I guess.
Decided to take the family out for hibachi tonight. We got asked if we knew our way or if we want someone to walk us there. Rude because that is their job, but We decided itβs fine that we walk alone since we have been there a few times. We got served water pretty quickly and waited about 20 minutes for someone to finally bring our drinks and take our order. Throughout our whole experience the only person I would give stars to would be βjumanji β the cook. He was wonderful.
The waiters were not clearing the tables or coming back to give refills or check up on how everything was. Horrible service. Management needs to look into this because people will stop coming there if thatβs the type of service they will be providing. I would have never paid them the service charge of $50-$60 if it wasnβt already added since we had 6+ people. The waiters also took forever to bring us our check ! We had small children which were getting antsy since we spent way too much time waiting. Hope they change because its sad to see that this is the type of people they hire to work there now. To note, the restaurant was not busy at this time at all. The waiters were mostly standing around because they were visible from where we sat.
Great food! And great service!

Went here for some hibachi and maybe a little sushi but when walking in we found out they no longer offer hibachi and have not updated anything online about it. While we were disappointed, the sushi we had was very good. Highly recommended the Tuna Dumpling.
One of the best sushi places around
Not very good. Food was poor and service was just okay. First time and last time here. Only reason we went was for hibachi but unfortunately they no longer cook in front of you, or offer hibachi on the menu. Sushi was not good and noodles nothing better than average. Burr ridge location
[Customer Service - Immensely Poor]
Regarding the waitress, her personality was joyfulAnyways, the actions that she did matter more. Hereβs a list of what occurred during my time there that caused such a poor grade on customer service:
- Water refills within an hour were one. I had to ask the service twice to eventually get my refill (30 minutes into the meal). Unfortunately, I had to share water with a friend of mine since I no longer had any water left in my cup, which puts into perspective the lack of attentiveness the waiter had towards our table.
- Waiter attentiveness was extremely poor. They preferred to talk with their fellow associates rather than serve us. They looked towards our table while I was raising my hand, approximately two times, they ignored us. I asked the other waiter, same event occurred as I stated above.
- The tea that was served was given 1 refill. I would understand if it was a one time only drink (pay one, only get one cup), but we werenβt given a teapot despite her refilling it for us. It wouldβve been efficient to left the teapot on the table, so we could refill our cups on demand. We had to ask multiple times for tea throughout the meal.
- I ordered 2 platters of calamari at the same time. One of them did come as an appetizer. However, the secondary platter was the main issue. The kitchen or the waiter didnβt understand that there was a secondary platter. Approximately, 45 minutes later the calamari was served. To put it into perspective, the main course was already served before the second platter arrived. The main course was mostly finished by then.
[Food - Decent]
The food overall was alright, however there were a few bad apples.
- Calamari tasted rather bland. It tasted like it wasnβt fully cooked. It was rather cold when it was served.
- Udon with the chicken was good. It tasted hot and good. I didnβt find any issues with it.
- Chicken Terriyaki was excellent. The vegetables and the chicken itself were hot and well made.
- Fish w/ miso sauce (?) tasted terrible. The fish was incredibly soggy and tasted like they just dumped water onto the fish and called it a meal. The sauce wasnβt that great as well, it was immensely bitter.
- Sushi was alright. It was presented in a well mannered way. It tasted amazing.
- Regarding the prices, Iβd say itβs kind of expensive. Udon was around $26. Calamari was ~$13. 6 pieces of sashimi was approximately $23-$30. It would be better to get a cheaper sashimi elsewhere to be honest.
[Cleanliness - Good]
Overall the establishment looked very nice. Tables and chairs were cleaned when we arrived. Floors were cleaned. The bathroom was somewhat dirty, but thatβs alright. Waiters wore an large arrangement of uniforms, some just wearing a t-shirt and jeans. They were well presented regardless.
[Miscellaneous]
I did see other families didnβt really finish their main meals, which could imply that the food wasnβt great or they were already full from their previous appetizers. The mood of the restaurant was good. It wasnβt too loud or quiet. However, one issue I did have while dinning was that the establishment decided to put down the curtains on their windows when the sun was still shining. This made it difficult to read the receipt, which resulted me having to use my phoneβs flashlight to see the bill.
Be sure to know that IF YOU ARE A PARTY OF SIX OR MORE, YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY A 18% GRATUITY TIP. Do NOT pay the waitress the tip, since it WILL BE ON the receipt already, youβre just giving the waiter extra on top of the tip. They placed this warning in the very back of the menu and the font was fairly small, not helping since the lighting was as dimmed.
[Overall]
The food is decent and somewhat expensive (most main meals are ~$30 and are fairly small). The cleanliness of the restaurant is good. Customer service is terrible.
I wouldnβt recommend to others if you are highly sensitive to spicy food. I would recommend other Japanese cuisine establishments. Other reviews share if you dig deep share my sentiment.
Good food, friendly waitress.
Great placeπ
Good dinner. The service was great, however, there's something funky in the taste of the ginger. I didn't add the ginger to my sushi in this case, but overall it was a nice experience.
Great place. My go to for great Sushi. I get the Curry fried rice. Nice atmosphere. Staff is friendly. The is a hibachi in the back but I've never done it. They get 4 stars only because they have messed up my order a couple of times but are REALLY accommodating when they mess up. GREAT PLACE!
Waited very long for our food, according to the waitress they had some sort of issue in the kitchen, after long wait, we did receive our food and it was cold! No, thanks! Will not be coming back.
First time here and will definitely be going back!
Delicious sushi & hibachi π
Visiting from out of town and our hotel was near here so gave it a try, everything was amazing!
Oysters were $3/piece, but they were good size (a playing card) and very fleshy. Sashimis were very fresh and tender. I'm not a fan of tom yum soup with coconut milk, but they made it very light yet the flavors were very strong at the same time. Though under the soup section, there was enough meat and veggies to be a meal of its own. On the other hand, I normally order coconut shrimp as an appetizer, but they have it as an entree here. There was about a dozen jumbo shrimps placed on lettuce with a sweet glaze and sugar glazed pecans. It was an amazing combination of flavors and my only complaint is that I wished they used sweet coconut shreds instead of plain ones. Highly recommend this place and would go back the next time I visit chicago.
If Iβm to go for price-wise I rather have grocery sushi. Some grocery store sushi are better than sushi restaurant.
Horrible experience with unfriendly staff. My boyfriend and i showed up on Monday night at 810pm. The restaurant closes at 9pm. The 2 hostesses refused to seat us because they said they were closing soon. I look at the empty bar and asked if we could sit at the bar instead of the dinning room. They said no because the bartender was too busy. Actually insane!! Don't bother going because they will probably be closed soon since everyone working there wants to leave early. I feel bad for the owner.
The staff was excellent. Loved the food. I'm looking forward to going back again.
Food and service was good. Please note that they close for lunch from 2-4pm and reopen at 4pm for dinner. Their combo plate is delicious with good variety
Skye was a terrific server with great knowledge of the menu and wonderful suggestions.
The sashimi was the tastiest and freshest Iβve ever had it melted in my mouth and the grilled eel knocked it out of the park I have never had sushi so tasty so beautifully presented.
I will be returning and bringing all of my friends they must experience this restaurant. I love itπ
I really like Dao and go for lunch quite often. They are perfect every time. Good service, good sushi, and great ginger dressing! No complaints.
Great hibachi grill, loved it!
We had the Hibachi with the filet mignon and it was very good. Our cook was very talented and put on a great show.
The Water is quite disputable and taste bad
Decent sushi. Maybe I didn't pick the right rolls.
Have to reserve a table for hibachi even if your one person..... can't even order off the hibachi menu super rude and took too long to seat me
We got seated no one came to ask us if weβre ready or not, we had to go call someone to help, someone came not welcoming face just doing his job. We ordered and waited 1 hour we also had to go and call someoneβ¦the food finally was not bad but also not the best didnβt taste fresh.. bathroom is has broken doors and not clean at all.
Great food and Awesome service !! Thanks NOR
Good place for sushi.
Absolutely love this restaurant!! Fabulous fresh sushi at extremely reasonable prices!!!! Great customer service !
Food was TRASH. Donβt waste your time.
Delicious, fresh sushi and friendly workers! Highly recommended it
You can tell all of the dishes are made with high quality ingredients (except the side salad of course haha), and the dishes have large servings. The side of miso soup may have been the best I've ever had because it was perfectly flavorful and not too salty (I didn't feel like I was drowning in sodium, and it's hard to get the right balanced blend between bland and salty).
Sushi quality is amazing, worth every penny
The curry was amazing.
Food was great so was Joni our waitress. We visited Dao at an old location and were pleasantly surprised to rediscover an old favorite. A true zero complaints experience. Be sure to explore their Bombas a signature dessert not listed on the menu for some reason. Weβll be back again soon.
By far the best sushi in Illinois! The sashimi was fresh, service was outstanding. Wine offerings were spectacular. I will return again soon!
One of my favorite sushi places that I always go to when I'm in the area. Low-key classy ambiance and vibe, solid selection of rolls, excellent desserts and great service. Also learned about nigori (cloudy sake) here and have come to really like that style.
Great lunch deals with a combination of a signature roll and regular roll with a choice of miso soup or salad
The food is excellent.
