Modest eatery serving Asian classics such as banh mi & chicken satay in an intimate space.
We did not have the same food experience as the other reviews. Both the Pad Thai and Pho were simply noodles with boiled water not broth. Both dishes seemed as if they threw left over meat and vegetables in a bowl with boiled water. We arrived 30 minutes before closing. If they did not have items on the menu due to late seating they should have told us those items were not available.
Probably one of the best phos I’ve ever had. Aromatic broth, high quality AND quantity meat! Excellent spring rolls. The place is no frills - either takeout or sit down without table service. Would highly recommend.
An amazing spot for good noodles & curries. Highlighting recommend if you’re looking for vegetarian/vegan dishes, they had a great range of curries & an amazing vegan pad Thai. Overall very friendly & helpful staff. Definitely worth a try.
I went in for lunch, their hours are till like 135pm or something. This is the first time I've been able to make it in time. Hoped to dine in, but I don't think they do that yet? There were tables but didn't look open. It was more so like a counter set up. Anyways, I ended up ordering shrimp summer rolls. They we r e ok.
Omg, their pumpkin crunch is the best. I would have taken a picture, but I really wanted to know if it tasted better than aiea bowl.
Quiet, out of the way spot. Everything my group ordered was tasty and hot. Order at the counter and didn't take long.
Great takeout. Comes in easy to reuse containers and the sauce for the papaya salad came on the side for maximum flavor, crunch, and freshness.
The Bahn mi was toasted but soft on the inside. Meat and veggies were moist and flavorful. They should have been wrapped in paper instead of in their own plastic container; kinda wasteful.
The summer rolls were huge. Tom kha soup was good too.

I was insulted, and I left my food at the store.
garlic shrimp so gas
That is the best Bahn mi I've ever had.
They might as close down with all the boxes inside. There's no service, because they won't hire a watress.
They want you to order, pay and leave.
They put boiling hot food in plastic containers
The food is very very ono (delicious). Owners are local and also the ones preparing the food. I recommend you to go check them out.
It was super yummy! I never leave reviews on places but this places food was super good and the staff was so friendly I was actually shocked! Nice :)
Takeout only but very good food
Been there about 3 times. Very good food, I don't think that you'll be disappointed. Only thing is that I wished that it had air conditioning. They keep the door open, but it's not the same as AC.
Delicious option Kailua Town. We called in a large order and there was a wait but I prefer that knowing I’m getting freshly made food - totally worth the wait! Everything was so good!
I never write reviews, but I couldn’t let this one go. Food is average, unnoticeable. However service is exceptionally bad. We live in the area and have ordered a couple of times. Today the dude was super rude and dismissive with my wife on the phone. Never ordering again.
Great food, good service too!
Nice owner, communicative about dietary restrictions (in our case vegetarian vs vegan) with respect to dishes. Food is excellent! Best green curry I've had in years, nice, thinly sliced chicken and plentiful veggies, and spicy was -actually- spicy, yay! Portions are very generous! Kalua pork spring rolls were tasty. Bun (meat and spring rolls on vermicelli) is beautifully presented and abundant looking. Kitchen closes for new orders 1/2 hour before closing time, FYI.
TAKE OUT ONLY - No dine in seating available. Didn’t eat since we wanted sit down.
no tables available
Worst service and just about as bad as the food. Calamari were cold in the middle. Shrimp were like from Safeway frozen shelf. Do not do it. There are better places to eat in Kauai.
Service was fast and efficient. The chicken satay however was way over done. The peanut sauce was okay...just hard to enjoy with the chicken being so overcooked.
I never post reviews even if I’m unhappy but this deserves exception. This is by far the worst asian food I’ve ever had. It’s really a Thai restaurant but calls itself Vietnamese. I don’t know what it was. I supposes they’re appealing to a quick fix hunger grab group but even at that level I felt bad throwing the food in the trash so I could recycle the containers in fear of making my trash can sick. Sorry, but it would be good if you guys made some, even small effort, to up your standards on the food your serving.
Outstanding food. We happened upon this spot after trying several other restaurants that were closed. Wednesday seems to be the day most restaurants are closed. There were four in our group and we were seated immediately. We ordered mixed seafood plate, mushroom chicken, the Calcutta and coconut shrimp. All plates were completely finished and we ordered dessert. Everything was exceptional!
Do not recommend this place. It was expensive, they add 25% gratuity automatically no matter how big your check is, the menu is not updated, our waitress never checked on us we had to get the busser to get our checks, they refused to seat us together as a party and separated us. Very tacky and overpriced. Save the trip.
The low review is for the store, not the food but honestly the store is in such bad shape I'm not sure I'll order from them again.
It smells of urine first off and second, their previous seating area has been converted to storage and it isn't neat and there's not even a slight attempt to hide it. The table that blocks their counter For more distance is also littered with old signs and looked like it could use a wipe down. Really, everything appeared dirty.
Their bathroom is no longer for public use. Perhaps the urine smell issue.
Lemongrass, if you never want to go back to in store dining at least keep your store clean, hide your storage and provide a place for pick up that feels fresh and kept up. If you're that covid conscience still I'd expect exactly the opposite looking store then I saw. It makes me wonder if it's covid conscience at this point or lack of regard for your customers and I suspect the latter.

Yummy pho and Thai tea everything on the menu is delicious 😋
Not hyped up to what it is and the food is pretty average for a Hawaiian Thai place. The lady at the counter was extremely dismissive, rushing, and rude. They packaged green curry in a regular to-go box causing a spill in the bag. The only thing keeping me from convincing the rest of my family to leave reviews (they disliked the service and were disappointed as well) is how one of the staff members went out of his way and outside to deliver an iced coffee to the car.
Not going back again.
Just okay. Granted, we are spoiled by our favorite place which is in Texas, but for being the most highly recommended Thai option by locals, it didn't live up to the hype.
No kids menu, the food was mediocre at best and definitely not worth the price or the service received. I'm not one to complain, but 76 dollars for 3 meals, and all 3 of us left hungry.. I find ridiculous!
This is your spot if your looking for some Pho and Thai Curry. Give them a try 👊🏼💯
When I'm in the mood for pho or their cold noodle dish they're the best in Kailua! Consistent quality food. Note: they are SLAMMED so I usually call right when they open.
Yummy. If you like Thai and Vietnamese food this is the place to go.
Had Tom Kha w/ shrimp and Pad Thai with Shrimp. the food was flavorful, fresh, and plentiful. This will be our new go-to place for Thai on this side of the island.
Given all the positive reviews, I can only assume something drastically changed with the quality recently. I ordered pad siew, a Thai classic. What I got was definitely not Thai food. Chow fun noodles were not used, and it was so dry that it seemed like they either barely used sauce, or it had been sitting out. The worst part was the eggs - they were definitely some kind of premix or powder. It didn't resemble the trademarks of pad siew in any way except for maybe the broccoli. I'm hoping this is just a rough patch for them and they resume the quality all these reviews seem to reflect.
Food is pretty good. Little above average $
Good service. Clean restaurant. Food was flavorful, but quite greasy and lacking a good vegetable selection.
Very good, recommended iced coffee, and spring rolls.✌🤙
I love Thai food and I have never had it better than Lemongrass. We had Panang curry with RIB EYE, like who does that?! The meat was done perfectly the spice on it was just as I asked for it with just the right amount of vegetables. We also had red curry and spring rolls which were amazing and topped it off with Bua Loi for dessert. The mochi was obviously freshly made and coconut was super tender We liked it so much that we went twice last month Make sure to reserve a table because it's hard to get in when it's busy Overall a fantastic experience!
The best phat thai ever!!!
Tasty shrimp dishes.
Great food. Small hole in the wall place. One of the few places to actually get a cup of Vietnamese coffee
Rude people not place to go
The food there is always made to order, so it's fresh and tastes great! No matter what I've eaten, it always very tasty. Haven't singled out one dish I like the best yet. My favorite drink is the Plantation Ice tea. Made a bit different from your normal plantation ice tea and very refreshing. The place is small with comfortable setting.
Great staff great food always worth the trip from makakilo
Got very sick with vomiting and diarrhea after eating here. Would not recommend.
Great Thai food! We always get the red curry chicken and pad Thai dishes. Wish the ambiance was a bit nicer but thats the only reason why it got 4 stars.
It's okay, I would go there again. This was my first time so have to try again.
Best Massaman curry I've ever had. One of my favorite places in Kailua.
The food was outstanding. We had a party of seven everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the pineapple curry chicken and it is now my favorite.
Great dive spot, the spicy garlic shrimp is the best especially with sticky rice. The other dishes are tasty as well like the curry but my I usually stick with my favorite shrimp dish with 7 to 9 peppers, some times 10. They are not open on Mondays.
Nice ambience. We had Pho, Green Papaya salad and a Sandwich. All excellent.
I ordered fresh spring rolls with chicken. The chicken part of the spring roll was tasty. But the rest was just iceberg lettuce and rice noodle. For $8.50 i would have expected some carrots, mint and cilantro and better quality lettuce...
Shrimp Banh Mi + Ice Coffee FTW!
Good food. Reasonable prices.
Very friendly service, and delicious food
Wonderful vegan friendly eats
Pho is not Pho. Just a beef soup. Other food is poor also. Charged 50 cents for lime slices. No joke.
I always go there for the Pho Special. Excellent portions, small place to eat at, but the customer service is fantastic! I recommend everyone to eat here!👍
Food is tasty and we'll priced
No veggies for dah Pho... extra charge
Great Food just wish the closing was at 830pm but Oh well!
Green papaya
The food there is delicious!
Awesome service, awesome food, and very reasonable pricing. One of my favorite restaurants in Kailua!
Excellent food! Super fresh, very friendly service too.
The place is very funky, kinda of dumpy. Need some sprucing up. That’s the only reason I have it 4 stars.
Bathrooms need attending too, fresh paint and little cute decor could go a long way to make it 5 stars.
Great food and great service! I definitely recommend dinning in and it's also B.Y.O.B
Always good food, very friendly owner. It's one of our regular places to go.
Very delicious Vetnamese restaurant. Foods are decent and delicious. Bring your own alchohol if you want to drink.
Sehr leckeres Pad Thai, die Suppe war sehr scharf. Das lag aber an dem chilizusatz den mein Kollege eingeschmissen hat.
Excellent Thai food in an unassuming atmosphere. Great service and friendly staff.
I love the panang curry and the spring rolls at Lemongrass. I've tried many other menu items as well and never had anything I didn't like. Very good Thai food.
Delicious vegetarian and vegan food. Friendly staff. Clean bathrooms. Don't forget to order the sweet potato tapioca for dessert. We took ours home to enjoy later.
I love the thai curry here! So good. They have vegan/vegetarian options too. Pho is a little bland for my taste, so I wouldn't come here for pho but their Thai dishes are delicious.
So delicious and perfectly spicy. Pad Thai was exactly what I was craving. Husband loved his vegan curry too. Very quick service.
Small restaurant great food. Not too expensive.
So good! Plenty of vegan options! Had the pho and my brother had the vegan pad Thai. Good pricing and portions. Always will recommend the iced coffee and spring rolls.
Pricey, soups were not that good as I expected.
The best Thai food in Kailua
Best Thai food on the island.
Loved the food! Yummy veg options
Great Thai but lacking a great atmosphere. Still a solid pick though
Excellent upscale Bahn mi sandwiches. Try the Mahi Mahi version.
I called a pick up order in. The ordering process on the phone was frustrating, lots of things "not on menu" but no menu available online. When I found a menu online someone had taken photos of, was advised "that one is out dated". However, the food was good which made me happy and full. All around, good food with "meh" experience.
Good
I get the red curry with dark meat chicken and sticky rice. I've had red curry at every thai place I've been to on the island and even in Asian countries and this is my favorite place to eat it. 10/10 would eat every day. Also the thai tea and iced coffee are dope AF.
Awesome Tom Yum, Chicken Wings, Pad Seeyou
Good food but absolutely terrible service. They're not usually busy so the last 4 times I've wanted it I've called and no one has answered. I'm persistent though so I keep calling expecting them to answer. They go ahead and take the phone off the cradle so Everytime I call it leaves a busy signal and I can't get through. I do love their food, but because they're just lazy, they lost over 150$ worth of my business and now I won't even bother.
I hope whoever works there and reads this gets after your staff, because their laziness is costing you hundreds.
Great food! Good prices!
Food is the best!! Small family operation, friendly, hard-working! Parking can be tight on Fridays and Saturdays so look for street parking if lot is full. You may need to wait for a table on busy nights and please don't show up right at 8p to eat. Would suggest 730 pm latest to get served and finish before they close. You can bring your own wine, $2 charge per glass. Green curry is amazing, stuffed chicken wings highly recommended. My husband and I eat there regularly and really enjoy it.
Come early, very small parking lot, and they run out of some menu items quickly....
Great food, particularly for takeout since no alcohol
Delicious food, a little on the pricey side
Bad customer service. We wanted to move because the A/C was to cold and they said they couldn't sit 4 at a six table even though they had two people sitting at at 6 top already. Waiter was very rude.
I called to ask a few questions about the restaurant for my vacation and the owner was such a RUDE P.O.S!!!! I would never spend a dime there.
Pad thai is like thai land, love it.
Excellent food. We enjoyed it so much we went two nights in a row. The Massaman curry is one of the best curries I've ever had. Try it spicy with chicken. My kids loved the grilled chicken and grilled pork, both with sticky rice.
Completely love this place. The grilled chicken dish done traditional over noodles is the very best! We all love it and come in groups because it's the best!!!
Awful food. Had grilled chicken. Tasted like gum. Rice on the side was okay. But that was the meal (sorry forgot the two slices of cucumber).
5 stars for food 3 stars for atmosphere.
Delicious bahn mi. Good vegetarian options. Excellent service. Seriously local. Very stoked to have popped in.
Their Pho is excellent. I would go here daily when I lived on Oahu. I highly recommend this place. Very quiet and inexpensive. Probably not the best atmosphere for kids. It's dark in here and feels a little lifeless but the food is excellent.
Holy moly this was amazing. Vegan curry dish was one of the best curry dishes all the way to NYC.
Hands down absolute favorite!
Great Pho
Great Thai, Vietnamese food served in a no frills setting by friendly, knowledgeable staff. I'm talkin really good, authentic south Asian food here friends. If that's all you need you will definitely get what you want right here at The Lemongrass.
This place is the best Thai-Vietnamese place I've ever eaten at. Recommend the satay chicken and house wings! Tofu salad is a good choice too! Atmosphere is cozy. This place is clean clean clean. Always served by friendly and efficient staff. Portions are good sized because I always have left overs to take home. Start your meal with the garlic soybeans, awesome!
Have dines at this place a dozen or so times, It is my favorite Thai join on Oahu. Atmosphere is laid back, you can bring your own beer. Things are a little slow and you might have to wait a little while but thats how Hawaii works you just chillax a bit. The panang curry is amazing I always get it thai spicy with 2 peppers and its just the right amount of heat to enjoy it. The sticky rice is good and the thai ice tea is not bad either. Ive also tried the red curry and the Massaman both of which were quite nice. They also serve some pho but I did not like that as much but im not a big soup fan either. Anyways hope this review helps
Small place but good food and variety for a decent price
