Bale sandwich and Thai food
We will be closed on 22Jun - 08Jul 2024 thank you for your kind understanding
We ate here all three nights we were in Honolulu. The lemongrass chicken is so flavorful, and the teriyaki chicken was divine! We had summer rolls each night with a perfect peanut sauce. Shrimp or chicken pad Thai are also great choices. Finish off with coconut tapioca. We’ve been on the road for over three weeks, covering over 8800 miles. This is the only place we’ve thoroughly enjoyed and visited more than once. The friendly and hard working staff round out the perfect experience.
I used to enjoy eating food here but don’t feel comfortable going there anymore. I ordered drunken noodles and tofu fried rice on Uber eats roughly 5 days ago. We take the food to eat at home and my wife bites two tiny rocks and stopped eating immediately. She only took couple bites and found 2, didn’t know how many there were coz we stopped eating after that. We called them right away and said they’ll refund the amount, which they never did even after calling them a day after. Please be extra cautious when preparing food in the kitchen. This is a big issue coz my wife said she might have even swallowed some, couldn’t tell for sure. I’m aware accidents can happen sometimes but this can cause serious health issue.
This place has got to be the best Thai restaurant near the Airport area probably hands down. I was jones-inc for a Bahn Mi sandwich with Pate and they have it here. I also got their papaya salad and it hit the spot! My BIG DEAL about this place is they have Chili oil as a condiment at all their tables? Yeah? Like who does this like these ladies because they touched my heart just with this thoughtful gesture! Chili oil like theirs took my sandwich and salad to the NEXT LEVEL! Come to think of it and you can prove me wrong but most Chinese restaurants and other Thai restaurants don’t have chili oil on their tables.
Their bread if your soft yet crunch exterior crust and the papaya is refreshing as it should be yet add chili oil and Dang I it hit me in all my feels. Check this place out I’ll definitely be back I’m eyeing up the Saye shrimp and Lemongrass chicken.
My only suggestion is may be they add a homemade unsweetened iced tea because it’s inexpensive to make and sells for what a soda sells for usually. I enjoy Thai iced tea and coffee but I’d probably be in diabetic shock in the dining room. Oh yeah I gotta get a tapioca cup before I leave.
I got the tofu banh mi and thai tea, while my husband got a combo plate with squid and beef. Everything tasted amazing and our total was around $32, $16 each for healthier, quality food is awesome; that’s fast food prices these days. We did take out and our food was ready within 15 minutes. Several of the tables were occupied when we walked in, so I was pleasantly surprised they got our food done as quickly as they did. I do imagine sit down could get busy here, as the restaurant is quite small. We’ll be back for sure.
We also took out two combo sandwiches. Great service, the food is more Thai style when it comes to the pho, the sandwiches were packed and was worth the price. I enjoyed my Thai ice coffee as well. Not sure why pad Thai here doesn't also add tofu, it'll be so much better if it did.
Great selection of foods available, though I've only ever tried the Thai green curry (which is fantastic). They don't ask you how spicy you want it, but that's fine because it is perfect how it comes. Curry meal comes with a good amount of food, has plenty of vegetables, and the meat to vegetable ratio is balanced. One of my favorite meals at the moment. :)

Lemongrass bahn mi 👌
Delicious, fresh food and really sweet staff. We ordered the lemongrass chicken banh mi and spring roll wraps, both so tasty.

Just moved here bc of my husband . Have been trying to find a good pho place. There’s a lot of decent pho places around but this one BLOWS it out of the water . I’ve been asking around about where to go and stumble d onto this gem by accident . I love pho and my husband is indifferent to it . This place serves pho , Thai food , and combination platters . He LOVED the garlic chicken he ordered. I LOVED the combination pho . The broth was just so FLAVORFUL . The most flavorful I’ve tasted so far . I’ve so addicted and will order here at least once a month for sure .

I ordered a lemongrass chicken thai sandwich and when i bit into the bread, i literally couldnt eat it. The bread waa stiff as a rock. It ruined everything. You had to tear that thing like a dog to get an actual first bite. Disappointed in the sandwich itself. Cant say for everything else because i havent tried their other menu items. But this sandwich sucked :( the bread ruined it, the overall chicken and other toppings were good
We had generous portions and tasty food! We ordered a bbq chicken sandwich, tofu chicken rice, pork chop, and a beef salad dish.
The staff was also really friendly!
The spicy squid was good. Sticky rice was decent. Beef was good. The Tom yum soup was not the greatest.

I came to this place three days in a row because the food was really good! The portions were big, compared to most places in Honolulu, definitely worth the price. My favorite was the papaya salad, so filling and just delicious, the pad Thai had the best tofu I’ve ever had, and the chai tea was amazing! Staff is friendly, I would recommend this place to anyone that comes to Honolulu! Location is a bit hidden but the food is worth it!
best thai/vietnamese in the area. try the lemongrass banh mi (or honestly anything else)!
OMG guys this place is a hidden gem! like i got in here around 1730 and they were super busy so they couldn’t take my order for like 10mins but after that the owner was gave me a dessert for eating long time.
BUT on top of that the food was amazingggg! i would come back here again!
If you have a long layover, you are doing yourself a disservice by not stopping in and eating here.
Love this place! Small family ran vibes.
Everything in the menu is delicious and the staff is super friendly.
This place will be our regular for Vietnamese and Thai food while we are stationed in Hawaii.
Highly recommend the Bahn Mi, pho, combo plates and the Tom Kha.
I noticed a few people from the airport eating there, so it must be good...Vietnamese and Thai cuisine. Simple local kind of place and the prices are reasonable. Very adequate parking.
Little hole in the wall! Super good food though! Really unassuming location right by the airport! Lots of locals.
I eat here like 3 times a week.
The food was good and there wasn't a long wait..
Delicious pho, very kind employees.
I’ll be back soon
Dangerously yummy food that really hits the spot.
First time eating here. Super convenient that it is so close to the airport, and they are open later than most typical Hawaiian restaurants.
The cashier lady was so wonderful, kind, gave us good recommendations, very personable person that is gentle and gives the ‘aloha’ spirit.
I ordered the Pad Kee Mao noodles with chicken and the lemongrass chicken combo.
Both absolutely delicious. Perfect amount of flavor, and came out fairly quickly
We walked in and waited for ten minutes to be helped. Others were helped. We finally left. Not one word was spoken to us. Never again.
They make you feel like family
This bale hands down is the best one on Oahu. Whoever the chef is in the back good job brutha or sistah!!
My favorite local Vietnamese local restaurant hands down!
Good Thai Foofs
Delicious bahn mi (sandwiches). We will definitely be back to try more of the menu!
Unassuming spot for great food. I highly recommend their vegetarian bahn mi sandwich with avocado. The veggies and avocado were generously portioned for a great price! I'll be back!
Hey guys, I am your old customer, always paying tips and always liked your food, but last time I got a noodle, and it was long waiting , no spicy as ordered and all noddle was stick to each other, as result no sause and noodle wasn’t tasty at all.
Not sure I will order my favorite dish again from you guys. Please make it better as it was before, and I might come back .
Pad Thai was delicious!
It was very good.
Awesome staff and food! Definitely a recommend place for Thai?
Great food Great service

This “Viet” Banh Mì shop does NOT have typical sandwiches that you’d expect. Not authentic at all
The dishes are so flavorful. So many to choose from!
Food is not bad and cheap
I had pho with rare steak and briskets and it was really tasty and authentic! I didn’t expect to find such good Vietnamese food in town.
I come here for the Rare Steak Pho Soup mmmmm
Best Bale sandwiches on the island!
Good food reasonable prices.
The lemongrass chicken sandwich is amazing!
[I love their chicken sandwich. And their Pho is really good too.
Best pho here. Thanks for staying open!
If I could give you -5 I would
We ordered two hot shrimp pad Thai
You guys gave us someone’s order with slop in it it tasted like charbroiled peanuts mixed with fish eggs and bok Choy that was burnt dipped in mud . I guess that’s what we get for walking around trying to find good food 😠😠😠
Yummy!
Ba-le Sandwich Shop is awesome...always great food
It's not amazing but it gets the job done if you are really hungry and dont know where to go. It's a last resort type of thing. Not something I would choose over anything
Best Bale sandwich I've ever had! The bun was hot and crispy. And the teriyaki beef was so melty! Friendly staff too ^-^ Will definitely be back!
Great service. Friendly staff. Love the tofu or Avacado sandwich.
Simple eating with complex food for my palatte. I like the chicken salad. Yum!
Hands down The Best Banh Mi in Town. Authentic and delicious. The menu consist of Vietnamese and Thai favorites. Friendly and efficient staff.
Amazing food! Hands down best banh mi (very authentic) and the staff is so friendly.
The restaurant is small for quick in and out lunches. The staff is helpful and efficient. The food offered is Thai and Vietnamese. The food is good.
Take the pork bahn mi off the menu! It's some kind of bologna-like sliced grossness that they put on the sandwich. Other ingredients are correct. Avoid the "pork!"
Love the pho...too bad they don't have the tendon...
Good food, better than fast food.
excellent
Delish tuna sandwich
Expensive but good food
Delicious food, quick service, reasonably priced
I love their Vietnamese Styled Chicken Fried rice spicy!!! Amazing!
Good
Excellent food and customer service. Lunch favorite!
Everything is good there.
My favorite is the Basil Chicken with an egg on top!👍
The service is quick, employees are respectful and they kept the tables cleared as quick as guests were leaving. The food choices are DELICIOUS and always feels so filling yet light. PERFECT choice for lunch or even a quick dinner.
Love the ethnic originality
Pretty good lunch spot, if you're getting food to go be sure to call it in. The wait times can be a bit long during the lunch rush.
Great bahn mi sandwiches and tapioca puddings.
I come here at least once a week for lunch...great food and good service
I love the chicken sandwiches!! Lemongrass or the teriyaki chicken are the best and add avocado even better!
Great small Vietnamese food shop.
Fast service horrible food. I ordered the Thai beef salad spicy. It came with 5 small portions pieces of beef, browning iceberg lettuce, a couple cucumber, and no herbs. I'm fairly certain the spices used were sugar, fishy water, and a dash of dirty feet.
Average menu. Chicken pho was good. Chicken sandwich was average.
Small joint to give the basic great banh-mi. Good price and good food. They were quick with 2 out of 3 sandwiches, but the 3rd took a while. Well worth the wait.
Fast service. Great food.
