We arrived at this restaurant for a dinner with a party of four. Upon entering, we noticed that the restaurant was divided between Hibachi tables and regular dining tables, with a charming sushi bar adding to the ambiance. Opting for a non-Hibachi meal, we kicked things off with some ice-cold beers. Despite our initial excitement, we were let down by the limited beer selection.
As we eagerly awaited our food, we placed an order for a variety of dishes including the Love Boat for 2, Volcano roll, fried shrimp and vegetables, and Filet Mignon with vegetables from the Hibachi tables. However, when our food began to arrive, our disappointment grew. The quality of the fish, particularly the sashimi, left much to be desired—lacking freshness and with oversized cuts. The sushi rice was overly wet, and the fish-to-rice ratio was off balance. Even the California rolls and Tuna rolls were not up to par.
The shrimp and vegetable tempura was disappointingly coated in thick, oily batter. As for the steak dinner, it fell short of justifying its price tag, lacking in both flavor and presentation. With a bill totaling $200 including tips, we left feeling regretful of our choice. Unless significant improvements are made to the quality of the ingredients, meal presentation, and overall dining experience, it's unlikely we'll return. While the service was acceptable, it was clear that the restaurant was understaffed, with one server struggling to attend to all the non-Hibachi diners.

Totally enjoyed. We sat at the sushi bar. Basics like cucumber salad, ginger salad, Cali roll all awesome. Also loved raw stuff like their awesome tuna tartare and another tuna raw roll. Super awesome service, staff, and sushi chef. Highly recommend. Hibachi area also looked great and was popping. Definitely will go back. Also tried hot and cold saki’s.

Georgia doesn’t have lot of options for Halal Hibachi and Sushi. I heard about this restaurant long back so thought to give it a try. We picked a good day of Sunday so there was not a lot of people and we were able to get tables with Hibachi in front, otherwise i have heard that getting that table requires quite long wait times. We got seated and we ordered Sushi just for the sake of testing as we were more looked forward for Hibachi. The chef came with all the raw ingredients, he was a nice guy. He asked us if we want to see the big fire but it will require him to put alcohol in food. We respectfully declined due to our dietary restrictions. He made food and jokes both and it was fun for the whole experience. For food taste, it was on ok side, nothing out of ordinary. Sushi was also just ok. Also they charge twenty percent mandatory gratuity so it makes the price go way more than it should be. Funny thing there is a option of extra tip in check and keep in mind i paid cash also to our chef. So for me it was just one time experience, I will not spend around two hundred bucks just for 1 time meal.

(Which was pleasant) afterwards, the waitress rushed through everything and not even trying to explain their menu and options. So we proceeded with our orders and we all got different type of meat such as Chicken, salmon, and fillet mignon. All of the meat was bland and very chewy. Rice was not even cooked well. No flavor! I don’t even want to talk about the soup they brought. We spent $230 for 4 adults and 3 kids. Left very disappointed and hungry.
I definitely do not recommend this place to anyone.

We have been to Tomiyama a couple of times, tried the hibachi the first time and second time, just the restaurant.
Both times the food was very tasty, presented nicely, and service was wonderful. The only downside was the second time we had to wait more than expected for the food. Sometimes that can be a good sign as it shows the food is prepared right before serving it. Overall, we had a great experience and enjoyed everything we tried. We will be back!

The place was very clean and compared to similar ones very bright. The people that work there very polite, and fun. They loved my daughter despite she wanted to walk around the restaurant. They played with her and made us feel very welcomed.

The food itself comes in a big quantity and the taste of it is amazing! The cook was great, playing with the kids and the adults as well. Fun for everyone. Very clean and very organized.

Pretty darn good chicken.

Went here for my daughter's 13th birthday. The place was virtually empty. The wait staff was SO rude. Did not want to give us any time to look over the menu. Then started clearing away plates while we were still eating off them. Never had such extreme rude service before. Our final bill was $286 for 5 people. We wouldn't have minded the hefty price had the wait staff not been so utterly rude!!!!

Love this restaurant when I am craving sushi; I always get the same order, the tomiyama dragon roll!! very good and worth the price everytime. Me and my friends go here often, staff is always very nice.

Love going here. Its very close to where I live. The food is on point. They have wide variety of asian food. Choice of sushi and thai is a great combo. Also there is hibachi. I love their chicken satay, so flavorful and tasty. Also tried there red curry and vegetables. Bery nice. Bento box is pretty decent too.

Me my wife and grandson came here this past Saturday. It was early and hardly anybody was there. The food wasn’t bad for what we order, but what ruined it for me. Was one of the other ladies came back to us that wasn’t our server telling us that the tip I put wasn’t good enough at that it needs to be at least 15% keep in mind on the receipt and receipt only it says TIP SUGGESTIONS. Then the reason she told me was none of them gets a salary or paid by the hour , so they all split the tips that customer leaves. It’s already costly but to almost close to $200 is diabolical. Enjoyed the experience but will definitely not be back. They need to have that posted somewhere for customers to see besides the tip suggestion on the receipt

Went on a weekday night and incredibly empty and slow which should translate to impeccable service, but no. Server was too quick to try to close when it wasn't even near closing (prob wanted to get cut early is my assumption). Felt rushed to eat and get out. The hibachi show for kids was also dull for a slow night. You would think this would be an opportunity to wow more guests to welcome a return.. everything was just average. Nothing special compared to others. Just a last resort go-to restaurant.

I love that my chef kept my yum yum sauce filled, and he was an eggcelent egg juggler. 10/10 would recommend the chicken hibachi

We celebrated our 8th anniversary in this establishment. It has been our tradition to visit hibachi place for our anniversaries. We decided we would try this place thia year, and boy was I impressed.

Our chef had decades of experience and the food was perfect. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection as well as usual entertainment that comes with hibachis.

We would definitely revisit this place!!

We came to Tomiyama on Saturday 9/14 for my wife's birthday celebration. The food was great as always- but what made this visit exceptional was the attention paid to my young girls 5 and 7 years old. The server ( can't remember her name! but she was the only one on the floor so you know who you are!) was very good with the kids and helped them to find a special drink- they didn't like the green tea so she got them a Thai Tea and they loved it!

I decided to give Tomiyama another chance after some past disappointments, but was let down again. Before being seated, I browsed the to-go menu, only to find out the prices were higher in the dine-in menu. When I asked, I was told the to-go menus were outdated, despite plenty of fresh ones at the counter. Prices have steadily risen, and what used to be a reliable, affordable spot has become overpriced with declining service and smaller portions. As a once regular, I’m really disappointed to see this change.

This is my second review (edited) I initially gave this place 4 stars because they served halal and it was in line with any hibachi place I've been to before. Good. Fine. Nothing exceptional.

But I am lowering it now. For 2 reasons: the steak in my curry was over cooked , tough, and gamey. And I really do not appreciate places that automatically add tips to the bill. 20% for 3 people (2 who got hibachi and one curry off the menue) is too much especially when the service was minimal and lacking. Making it mandatory is audacious and not cool.

The food here is decent, nothing different from any other hibachi places. However their prices are outrageous- $72 for two people! I had a sticker shock looking at the prices on their menu, even more when they told me there is an additional charge of $3 for fried rice. Can you believe it? The ambience was great though. Also, it was funny that their receipt said a free drink for 5 star review. I would attribute several 5 star ratings here because of that note. People, dont go until they reduce the prices.

I would give 0 stars if I could. It’s almost laughable the portions they give at the prices they put their food at. This was $12 for a side portion of chicken. It comes with nothing else but this. Every time I to-go food from here, the portions are tiny and food is not quality.

This is my family’s favorite sushi & hibachi spot!! The owners and team are all so nice and welcoming. We go so often they know all about our family and what we like to order every time. We love the clean and modern atmosphere, with TV’s playing any important sports games, great beer selection, fresh delicious sushi, and the fun tasty hibachi grill experience! Suwanee residents are spoiled to have Tomiyama in our community!!

We had dinner here party of 5. Service was fast, staff were friendly. We did Hibachi, the guy who prepared our meal was very funny.
We also enjoyed the crab rangoon. It came out hot and delicious. We will come back again.

I ordered pickup at this location and the food was phenomenal! We ordered three sushi rolls and Crab Rangoon’s and everything was delicious. The sushi was fresh and the presentation was great. The staff were all very helpful and kind. I will definitely be coming back to dine in for hibachi !

I love their sushi, with the different combinations of flavor, both sweet and spicy. The servers are kind and Tomiyama Sushi has a calming atmosphere that is perfect in order to have a relaxing night with family.

I’ve been coming here for a while now and it’s one of the best restaurants to come to with family. my family was always instantly greeted by everyone which made us feel very welcomed. Very family friendly, all the servers very friendly towards children and most importantly the food is amazing. the pad tai will always be my favorite dish, very flavorful and a pretty big portion. the sushi here is very fresh as well as if it melts in your mouth. as for the hibachi its on the pricy spectrum but the chefs make it worth your money. very entertaining and funny. if you're looking for a thai/sushi/hibachi restaurant, tomiyama will never disappoint you.

Just had dinner with friends at this restaurant. Not our first time, but possibly last. The dinner was fine and the chef was entertaining, however we decided to order a dessert (our first mistake). It was a tiny piece of Oreo cheesecake my husband I were going to share. It was awful, not creamy, no flavor, and just not good. When I asked to take this off the tab, the server was very rude and instead of be apologetic or offer something else, she abruptly said that we had eaten half so she would only take 1/2 off bill. This was an $11.00 dessert. It was awful, and we had not eaten 1/2 of the cake, we had 2 small bites. To top it off gratuity was already added (20%), so we could not adjust the tip to offset the rudeness. I am not so bothered by the price (definitely not worth that), more the attitude and lack of customer service.

When I 1st got to the restaurant. Scanned the room. No acknowledgement. There was only 1 hibachi table w about 5 ppl. I saw 2 other women sitting at a table in the distance. Wondered if they worked there but not sure at the same time. They both had their heads down looking at their phone. Looked over to the bar. One guy was there, same thing…head down in his phone. Walked to the bar got his attn. By this time, one of the females sitting at the table in a distance walks up. Sit at the bar. Order my food. I sat there watched the employee behind the sushi bar take some gloves that were sitting on the counter. Blew into them so the fingers of the glove would straighten out..easy to put on. Put them on and made someone’s order. Another order came in…he did the same thing. This time I said something to him abt the sanitation. He said, they’re fairly new that’s why he was using them again. Then said he understood and changed gloves. Waitress brings the check. Asked her abt adding something to go. Instant attitude. She goes off and talks w the other waitress abt me. Brings the check back. One price on the ticket but my card was charged a different price. Prices listed on the menu is cheaper than what they actually ring up. Get home. The dessert I order to go was mango w sweet rice. Mango is rotten.

I learned about this place in the Taste Of RCM event 2023, I was one of the early customers. I got Chicken Panang Curry to-go and there was ONE small piece of chicken in the whole entree!
I don't know if they've to travel to moon to get halal meat but if this is the quality of food at a promotional event, can you imagine how it would be on regular days?

I recently visited a sushi and hibachi restaurant and had a unique dining experience. My friends and I were looking forward to enjoying a mix of sushi, hibachi-style fried rice with chicken, and refreshing soft drinks. However, our experience took an unexpected turn.

As our dishes arrived, we couldn’t help but notice that the fried rice was undercooked. Concerned about the quality of the meal, we politely asked our server if it was possible to cancel the order and only be charged for the drinks.

What happened next pleasantly surprised us. The staff at the restaurant, known for their courteous service, lived up to their reputation. Instead of insisting on payment or offering a replacement dish, they promptly apologized for the undercooked rice and graciously decided not to charge us for anything, including the drinks.

Their willingness to rectify the situation and prioritize customer satisfaction left a lasting impression. It’s not every day that you encounter such genuine customer service. While the food didn’t meet our expectations this time, the restaurant’s commitment to customer happiness turned our experience around.

Despite the hiccup with the undercooked rice, I appreciate the way the staff handled the situation, putting customer satisfaction at the forefront. I’m inclined to give this restaurant another chance, as their dedication to their patrons speaks volumes about their commitment to quality service.

We had a reservation on a Friday night for 8 people for my husbands birthday, and we had the best time! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a smile and brought right to our table. Our server even offered to store our birthday cake in the fridge while we enjoyed our meal. Our chef was great, everything was cooked to perfection. Our server and another employee came and sang happy birthday, and they even provided candles, plates, and forks for our cake. I would definitely recommend Tomiyama to anyone for a small celebration. My girlfriend and I are sushi fanatics, but we must say, our sushi platter was very lackluster and borderline inedible. We ordered takeout with about 5 rolls and the rice on every single one of our rolls was gummy and difficult to chew. This is also on top of practically frozen and flavorless salmon on the salmon nigiri. We were so disappointed as we had heard good things about the sushi, but it all tasted very poor quality. There’s a difference in a fresh cold and frozen cold. Perhaps the preparation is different for dine in but our sushi was real bad.

We had a birthday party of 40 people. Its halal hibachi and excellent environment. Cindy (mng) great customer service. Kids menu was peefect and Hibachi was so good. We will definitely go back Tomiyama again.

Foods good and a bit pricey

So, the food was really good outside of our cook being a little cocky, for what the prices are, the plate should have been filled with way more food.

First time ordering here. Place is nice inside. The food we order wasn't that great. Chicken and shrimp was over cooked which made it hard to chew. Didn't really enjoy our meals.

So clean, excellent service, sushi was fresh, Hibachi was great and prices worth every penny. Have been telling everyone about this place. It was fantastic!!

Great staff and top notch food. They are great about accommodating my hubby, who is vegetarian.

This is my new favorite sushi place in Suwanee. Very friendly staff. From my discussions with Ricky Bobby, they certainly care about the quality of their food.

The atmosphere was nice, though when seated, there was a sizable amount of oil on my plate and it bothered me a bit. The sushi was great, but the hibachi left more to desire. The fried rice was okay, a bit bland and the meat was overcooked. For the price you’re paying, I don’t think it’s worth it. Shortly after the chef was done with the hibachi, the waitress passed us our to-go boxes and it felt like we were being rushed out. None of us in my group were done eating but we felt like they wanted us to leave. Overall, I’d only recommend this place for the sushi alone-but even then this wouldn’t be my first choice. I get that being waitstaff is never an enjoyable job, and everyone has their bad days but I just felt unwelcomed here by most of the staff.

I came with my friend to grab lunch and we loved it!
A: I loved the spring rolls and the nigiri the sushi was also yum! The service was good. The place was peaceful and calm. Will come again.
B: I kept it simple and had avocado rolls. hit. The waiter was so kind. it is so nice in here.

A bit pricey, but great food and it's a smaller restaurant, so not very crowded.

We have been to Tomiyama a couple of times, tried the hibachi the first time and second time, just the restaurant.
Both times the food was very tasty, presented nicely, and service was wonderful. The only downside was the second time we had to wait more than expected for the food. Sometimes that can be a good sign as it shows the food is prepared right before serving it. Overall, we had a great experience and enjoyed everything we tried. We will be back!

So saw the picture of their crab rangoons and it looked hecka nomz! They also have a 4.6 rating. So decided to try it put. Cute lil place, friendly staff, and amazingly yummy foods!!! Fried banana ice cream was really goos. Ask for honey and sesame seeds to go on it!

Overpriced. Unexpected Tipping Policy for Parties of Four.

Papaya salad- excellent- love the flavor. Volcano roll - not too dense, very nice texture and flavor. Special fried rice with beef - excellent - not greasy, great flavor, tender beef.

The fact that they serve halal beef and chicken. Try their filet mignon.

It was the best steak that I ever had

Food was good, service was horrible. Place was empty but took forever to get a seat. Refills are unheard of. Chef messed up the order. Waiter never delivered our dessert we ordered. Nice people but they need to polish up the details. Other tables turned faster than us, even though they were seated after us. Oh, these plates have been sitting for an hour. You can do better.

Came on mother's day. The word around town that theres a halal hibachi place and couldnt pass the opportunity to try it out. From making the reservation to the quality of good everything was great. The chef and staff were friendly and did their best to accommodate everyone. Only gripe was a small miscommunication about our order but in the end it was resolved. Will be returning often

We ordered the Pad Thai and chef special fried rice and as soon as we took a bite, we lost our appetite. It tastes bland and not fresh. Shrimp has a weird taste. We wanted to get a refund but decided to just take it to go since they were busy with other customers. We’re just gonna recook it to make it better / give it actual flavor to get our moneys worth. Never coming here again.

Ordered to go. Hibachi wasn't the greatest I've ever had, but it was good. I also ordered spicy tuna rolls but accidentally ordered hand rolls instead of sushi rolls, and it was very good.

The food was fresh and delish...definetly coming back

Great Hibachi, great customer service, and they have Halal options. Highly recommended!!!

Made a reservation and after we sat down, we waited 45 min to an hr and had to ask to leave before the hibachi chef came. This type of experience is completely unacceptable.

While I appreciate the owners response and I understand that it's a busy time but if we have a reservation at a certain time, the expectation certainly isn't to wait 45 min to an hr to start the hibachi grill. While I appreciate the soup and salad for free (we did offer to pay for it), it's not worth sitting around for that length of time. The hibachi chef was actually ushered into our area once we asked to leave so, yes we politely declined -it shouldn't take the threat of a customer leaving to get appropriate service.

Update: I came back to give the place another shot, I'd highly recommend doing a sit down dinner instead of the hibachi unless you're okay with waiting a extensive amount of time. The sit down dinner was excellent with great service. However, I was curious to see if other ppl had to wait just as long for the hibachi and they did.

I love this place for lunch. The bento box is delicious and the staff is very friendly

For your info we didn’t care about the free food, because we ourselves ordered us a ton of food over $200 worth food, To which part of the order was wrongly send, kept patiently waiting for it to get changed yet was not correct. And part of the food arrived to us was cold lol ,

I found hair in my sushi ginger and decided to not speak about it, because things kept happening back to back with us. And for your infor we were very cleverly ignored by your manager. When asked to move seats.
Regardless, we understand it’s a restaurant things happen. But I want to make sure my msg is gone out correctly to you that in an empty restaurant seat people wisely, and don’t waste people’s time. Never returning Thank you .

Where to start waited waited and impatiently waited and next thing you know they bring a bowl of extensively salted edamame as a courtesy for our time loss and then they end up sitting 4 more people right next to us . Enough for us to keep bumping our hands and plates with bunch of strangers. And the hibachi chef kept going off board with his comments utter embarrassment. Food is not worth all that we went through lol

Awesome place for hibachi. Service and staff were great and accommodating.

EVERY employee was very sweet and polite. Very pleasant experience- dining area was clean and neat. We had Felix and he was very engaging and took good care of us.

Food- id only give 4 stars, not as great as my fav place but definitely would come again if in the area. It all just depends on your preferences

This is our new hibachi place near us! They were extremely nice and the restaurant looked nicer than most other hibachi places around.

Tomiyama Hibachi is a 10/10 experience. First Halal Hibachi, the food was very delicious. They are using Halal meats and the staff is knowledgeable about it. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very modern and vibey. Definitely a great place to take family, so they can experience Halal Hibachi. Make sure to make reservations as it can get busy. Food was super flavorful and I highly recommend Tomiyama. I will be back as well.

Delicious food!! Everything is soooo fresh and amazing! Best part, the chicken and beef is halal! The Tom yom soup was so flavorful, the papaya salad so crunchy and fresh. The chicken satay was delicious and definitely my favorite! Had the Atlanta roll, so filling and fun to eat! Will definitely come again! And the staff (I think it’s all run by one very kind family) are so so sweet and accommodating!

Great place.
They have plated dinner and hibachi dinners. The sushi selection is really great especially the spicy tuna crispy rice. Service was great and very clean place.
I had the pineapple friend rice and it was delicious and great presentation served in an actual pineapple shell.

Finally an amazing halal hibachi place - right here in Suwanee! Their chicken is halal and I was told the hibachi steak is also halal. I had their Thai dishes- pad see ew and basil fried rice which were amazing. So happy and will be coming here all the time!!! This was much needed. Also, the people were so nice and accommodating to our needs.

This place has been a gem of a find. Right off of PIB just north of Suwanee Dam Rd,. I had the Red Curry dish. They ask you "How spicy do you want it? O-4." It was super good. This is my 2nd time. I got the Green Curry the 1st time. Wife got sushi this time. Other couple got Sweet and Sour chkn. Everyone liked there's.
Def will return!
Chairs not 100% comfy but that might be the only thing a big guy like me (6'2, 215) would nitpick about.
Excellent food. We could hear each other. It was clean. Parking was kinda tight. But there was a daycare that was nice for overflow.

We came on a week night and were seated right away. The restaurant filled up with the dinner rush, but our server was still very attentive. We ordered sushi and gyoza instead of hibachi. The sushi was very delicious and the fish tasted fresh. I would definitely come back to try their hibachi and Thai options.

Awesome sushi, great hibachi, and they are patient with out little daughter when she wanted to walk around and play and talk with other kids and people. Most Asian restaurants are not patient with kids at all, but glad they were. Also they were friendly, which is becoming exceedingly rare these days, especially after the covid stuff. Far to drive but worth it and will be recommending them to many people, and will be coming back over and over again..

I’m so glad I found this unassuming place along Peachtree Industrial in Suwanee. We’ve been to a lot of hibachi restaurants in the area and most of the chains are the same and don’t provide the best experience. Tomiyama was different. It’s in a little strip plaza, but don’t let that deter you. Somehow on a steady Saturday early evening my wife and I got to have our own table. Our chef didn’t phone it in because of that and prepared us a nice chicken and filet mignon meal. Despite being a little higher in price than a lot of local hibachi places, this was worth it. It was some of the best fried rice I’ve had anywhere and no doubt the best velvety filet I’ve had, and I’ve been to restaurants like this all over the country. Excellent portion that I happily ate all of and friendly service all around. The staff seemed appreciative of our business and that will always get me back. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience and we will be back soon, especially for those tempting desserts!

Best sushi I've had in Suwanee! I got the yummy tummy roll, chirashi don, and the sunrise roll. These are my go-to(s), so I wanted to taste their version. They did not disappoint! Really nice service and tons of items to choose from. I really want to try their hibachi and Thai items next!

Totally enjoyed. We sat at the sushi bar. Basics like cucumber salad, ginger salad, Cali roll all awesome. Also loved raw stuff like their awesome tuna tartare and another tuna raw roll. Super awesome service, staff, and sushi chef. Highly recommend. Hibachi area also looked great and was popping. Definitely will go back. Also tried hot and cold saki’s.

Nice atmosphere. Helpful staff. Good food. Decent prices.
