Amy is one of the best Thai food you will ever eat, We have been coming here for years 😋

Diner Review №3

Wanted to like this place, decor was fine and service was okay too, had to ask for napkins and silverware. Fresh rolls had mystery meat instead of teriyaki chicken and the sauce was not good. Pad Thai tasted like it was microwaved and was under seasoned. Chicken was overcooked.

This was our first visit to Thai Basil, and 100% not the last. Very friendly staff, delicious curry.
We can recommend Thai Basil, it's worth a visit!

Diner Review №6

Thai Basil is the kind of place that gets into your bloodstream and keeps you coming back for more. I’ve been a loyal fan since the Pie Thai days, and let me tell you—Amy runs the show like a culinary rockstar. The food? Outrageously good. I mean, everything on the menu is delicious—literally, everything. Not once have I walked out disappointed, and trust me, I've tested the waters. The Pad Thai? My go-to dish, hands down. And don’t even get me started on the curry puffs—they’re like little pockets of heaven. Fast, friendly service with a vibe that just makes you want to keep coming back. My only complaint? They're not open for lunch. So, do yourself a massive favor: stop what you’re doing and get over there. You won’t regret it.

Diner Review №7

I’ve been going to see Amy the owner of this restaurant for over nine years now the food is excellent and she is a sweet person to talk to. She goes above and beyond for you. I would recommend this Thai restaurant to Everybody they won’t be disappointed. Thank you, June T

Diner Review №8

My best friend introduced me to Thai basil what we enjoyed it for years. Great and probably cook food.

Diner Review №9

Cozy little family business. The atmosphere is calm and clean. I always go when I need a bit of comfort. I love to share their chicken soup and rice with my girls.

Diner Review №10

I love this little place! The food is always amazing and the atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing.

Diner Review №11

Friendly service and great food! Would definitely recommend it. You will have to wait for your food, but if you're not in a rush, it's worth the wait.

Diner Review №13

Easy to find in a large plaza, Thai Basil brings Asian food to an area that really lacks it. Most of the plaza is empty which is sad to see. Walking in, the host stand is way too close to the door. A bit awkward when another party is walking in with you. Luckily we were seated pretty quickly.

The restaurant is not aesthetic and not much detail has been put into the dining room appeal. However, the food and price points do make up for it. We ordered an appetizer and a soup and they hit the table fairly quickly. The fresh rolls were great! The menu said it's created with teriyaki chicken but you can't really taste any flavor with the ground chicken they put inside. There's also carrots and bean sprouts accompanied with a light dipping sauce. The Tom Kha soup was thick but delicious.

Our two main entrees were great. I ordered the singapore noodles. It was a bit saucier than I'm use to but I liked the concept of ordering a dish and adding your choice of protein inside.

Our server brought our check to us at the perfect time and we were able to be in and out for dinner. I thought the food was pretty good for the area.

Diner Review №14

This place was like a hole in the wall. The decor was very very outdated and uncomfortable seating. Usually that wouldn’t bother me because sometimes that means the food tastes more authentic and better. However, that was not the case here. Pad Thai was mediocre and the meat was low quality and tasted old. I was hoping I could come back here since it’s convenient but it’s just not worth it. However the prices are cheap so if you are looking for cheap bite , it’ll do the job.

Diner Review №15

I don’t know why I waited so long to try this place. The yellow curry is bomb!

Diner Review №16

Lovely experience, such an incredible Tom Kha Gai.

Diner Review №17

Very good. Food and service. Add the price that is fair, and you get the place you just have to know.

Diner Review №18

Diner Review №19

Well, I guess 4.5 stars in Florida is equivalent to a NY 2... Spring rolls were thin, dry and basically stuffed with vermicelli noodles. No vegetables. Firecracker fish was odd, where was the fish. It was all breading, some odd sauce and blah. This dish was really a joke for nearly $20. Not spicy. Drunken noodles were watery and strange. Not very good. Panang curry was decent, like other reviews said, but I wouldn't say anything truly special. Oh well. Waitress was friendly and nice. Decor was cool. Sadly the food was a disappointment.

Diner Review №20

My new favorite Thai restaurant, and we eat Thai a lot. Went with my son and daughter-in-law for dinner. Had the khao soi, the nam sod and the lemongrass curry and everything was so fresh and delicious. The only Thai restaurant that ever maybe topped this was one in Maui.

Diner Review №23

Absolutely delicious Thai basil with chicken. The owner is lovely and the food was really good. The owner grows ghost peppers and makes a ghost pepper oil that is outstanding. The vegetables in my dish were cooked perfectly and the onion was great. Very flavorful and I could eat that daily. Next time I will try something different.

This is a small restaurant and not fancy inside. The place is clean and the food is really good. It takes a lot for me to give 5 stars but they deserve it. The quality and flavor of food rivals other Thai restaurants that I have reviewed and their prices are lower.

See you next Monday for bar poker across the parking lot. We are eating here instead of at our venue. Ate here twice more and had red curry with vegetables and chicken. The ghost pepper oil, the best.

April 2023 Update: Six months ago I tried Thai Basil and I still love it. The owner, Amy is lovely and the food is as good as you will find anywhere. See you next Monday.

Diner Review №24

The reviews we read before visiting were really positive with one or two negatives. This is an authentic Thai restaurant where the food is the focus. I had the best Thai food in a long time and the owner Amy was delightful.. Many of the ingredients come from her own garden and were superbly tasty and fresh. We will be going back and I strongly recommend.

Diner Review №25

Fabulous hole in the wall Thai bistro. Delicious, fresh food. Piping hot with authentic flavors. Amy is delightful, friendly, and helpful. She provides thoughtful and careful gluten free options. Would highly recommend. We are returning very soon.

Diner Review №26

The staff is really nice, they pay a lot of attention to children, and the food is delicious (I love the Pad Thai! I definitely recommend this place.

Diner Review №27

Excellent food, attentive service.

Diner Review №28

My friend and I just had a scrumptious home cooked meal and we will be returning again and again. We choose to eat vegetarian, and the options are plentiful and absolutely delicious. I had the panang curry, which is Amy's own curry recipe, and it was out of this world. Support this lovely business; you'll enjoy the food so very much. Thank you to Amy and to Shilo.

Diner Review №30

This is our favorite restaurant! The ramen is amazing and is magical when you are sick. The other things that we have had here are always great and our 5 year old even really likes the food. And he is picky! I recommend 100%

Diner Review №31

First time ordering out from Thai Basil. Everything was excellent. The Pad Thai, Singapore Noodles, and Red Curry were the main dishes we ordered. Super tasty! We will absolutely be back.

Diner Review №32

We have gone here for years and Amy is amazing as is the food and service!

Diner Review №33

Fantastic!

Diner Review №34

Thai Basil by Amy’s Food is delicious and authentic!
I visited first time today, with a friend who also loves this restaurant.
I highly recommend this Thai Basil; I’ll be returning here often!

Diner Review №35

Thai Basil is the best around. Have been going here for many years. Have tried a few other Thai restaurants in the area, but none compare. Can't say which is my favorite, it's all delicious.
Staff very friendly.

Diner Review №36

Diner Review №37

Ordered here based on the good reviews but it was a disappointment.
Drunken noodles were dry, tasteless and instead of chicken there was just egg.
Wont recommend.

Diner Review №38

The best Penang Curry I have had in years. Everything is made in house and the owner is so passionate about her food that you can’t help but want to try everything. Should have taken a picture before I started but was so excited about the food I completely forgot.

Diner Review №39

I absolutely recommend this restaurant! The food was delicious and honestly the BEST Thai food I have ever eaten. It is hard to find an authentic restaurant, but this restaurant meets those standards! Amy the owner was so kind and explained that she grew all of her own herbs. I was in food heaven eating there! My mother and I ordered a Fresh Roll, Tom Ka Gai (BEST ONE I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!), Shrimp Pad Thai, and Lemongrass Curry with chicken. For dessert we ordered the sticky rice with ice cream toasted coconut and ground peanut.... DELICIOUS!!!!!

I live a few hours north, BUT every time I visit home we are 100% ordering food from Thai Basil By Amy!!! I wish her restaurant was located by my home!! I would eat it once a week if I could!

Diner Review №40

I don’t review often but I had to. Order here based on the many “good” reviews but was left highly disappointed. Picture speaks for its self.

Diner Review №41

Amy is so sweet, very personable and makes you feel like you’re home. The food was delicious, fresh and prices are reasonable. We’ll be back 😋 Rosie & Fred

Diner Review №42

Tough location had to dig deep to find it unique atmosphere once you're in the place recipes are authentic service was good food was all right nothing over the top

Diner Review №43

We drive 29 miles just to eat here! The food is amazing - the best Thai we've had. Everything is delicious from appetizers to soups to entres. Amy is a lovely person and we are so happy to support her and her business. Thank you for treating us like family, we'll be back soon!

Diner Review №44

The Best! I started going there 27 years ago but moved out of the area 22 years ago. My family had the pleasure of going back last night and it was just as great of service and food as so many years ago. It was so nice to see Amy again and enjoy the nice atmosphere of a small restaurant. Thank you, Amy!

Diner Review №45

Talk about a rip off. Is my first time ordering from this place and the curry puffs were very good but the fried house special rice was a joke. I only had two shrimps in there a lot of beef barely any chicken and not any pork. I’m so disappointed because the food could’ve been so much better I just had a lot of rice and egg. I won’t be coming back. That was a waste of $25

Diner Review №46

Diner Review №47

You can't go wrong with anything on this menu! It is all very delicious. If you want a homemade meal, but don't want to cook, order here! Everything we have had on the menu is so fresh, from the pad thai to all of the curry dishes. Amy is not only an amazing chef, she is truly a gem of a person. She puts heart into her cuisine and it shines!

Diner Review №48

Best Thai restaurant ever. Can not recommend this place more!!

Diner Review №49

Diner Review №50

Amy is Great! First time here, loved my dinner. I will def be back.

Diner Review №51

Amy delivered her made to order Thai food to our table. As always, it was absolutely delucious. I always order 1 star spiciness, because I like the flavor, not very spicy. My husband gets 2 star spiciness, but we have real foodie friends who get all 5 stars!! All the vegetables are whatever she finds most fresh in the market. It's great to bring friends here with special needs, gluten-free, no onions, no garlic, low carb, etc. Amy custom makes a great dish for all of them.

Diner Review №52

The food was amazing, but it doesn't end there! The service was great! I was served by none other than Amy herself! She was super sweet and I was impressed how she greated each customer that entered by name. You don't the true family feeling most places these days, but you sure do here! I'll definitely be back.

Diner Review №53

Love the duck amazing food. The owner is so nice.

Diner Review №54

Quaint and family run, but OMG the most delicious Thai food I've had in ages! I can't wait to try more of the menu.

Diner Review №55

I relied on great Google and Trip Advisor reviews to try this place. On the positive side, the staff is nice and accommodating and the Thai iced tea was good. The worrisome part started when I arrived to pick up a takeout order on Saturday night and there was just 1 customer eating in.
Then, all 4 dishes we had were disappointing. The difference between the reviews and our experience is not a great thing. Maybe this is a recent change in how the restaurant is, but talking to a couple of people who know local restaurants they also indicated that the place doesn't have a strong reputation. Dish-by-dish, here's what we found.

Chicken Panang: Unusually, it had lots of 2 inch green beans in it. The issue, though, was the curry sauce. Rather than lots of coconut milk like we usually get, the sauce was lighter and much less tasty. I think they used cornstarch to give it some thickness but that left out the nice coconut flavor and the sauce was also very light on peanut.

Chicken Basil: Unusually, lots of sliced carrot in there. The sauce here to was lacking flavor and didn't even look right. Usually, the sauce on this dish is brown probably due to soy and oyster sauce. The sauce was clear here with not much basil flavor or spiciness. I've never had this dish be sort of bland like this.

Noodles, Drunken and Pad See Ew: In both noodles dishes there were two issues that were both huge for us. 1. The noodles: At most local Thai restaurants the noodles are nearly and inch wide, tender, thick and delish. If you see the noodles in an Asian Grocery, they are sold fresh not dry. This restaurant did not use the standard restaurant noodles for these dishes. Instead, the noodles looked to be from the dry packs where the noodles are about a quarter inch wide and not tender. Instead, they just get gummy if overcooked. For me, why get these dishes if the noodles are the like you could easily get at home. 2. Almost zero sauce for both. The noodles had some oil on them and very little taste. Both of these dishes usually have good amount of very good sauce. Not so here. I've never seen anything like it for either dish at a Thai place anywhere. These were easily the worst of both noodle dishes that I've ever had the misfortune of trying to eat.

So, to the restaurant, you seem to be very nice people so please do better.

Diner Review №56

We chose this thai restaurant because they offered a few dishes we hadn't tried before. I decided to order the yana noodles and they were great! They also had kid sized utensils, plates and cups, which was a nice surprise. We don't live near by, but would definitely come back next time we're in the area.

Diner Review №57

Diner Review №58

We stopped be here after our roadtrip to Lion Country with our 1 & 3 year old.. the owner who was our server & chef was such a sweet lady, my Drunken Noodles were amazing! We really appreciated that they actually had utensils & plates for children, I felt like we were having dinner at a close relative's home. We will definitely be coming back every time we are in the area!

Diner Review №59

Delicious, nice people, great menu.

Diner Review №60

We read great things about Thai Basil By Amy and when we went there tonight we weren't disappointed. Amy is a hard working restaurant owner who managed to squeak by the pandemic and is still open for business. Her secret is that her food is fresh and tasty AND she knows what each of her customers likes. She makes a point of chatting with her patrons to get to know them. We had curry lemongrass chicken, drunken noodles, and garlic beef -- all dishes served with fresh steamed/sauteed vegetables. Each dish was SUPERB! We also had edamame with fresh garlic that was DELICIOUS! We had ginger tea that is made fresh by Amy. It was so GOOD! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS THAI GEM!

Diner Review №61

Diner Review №62

This place is amazing! The food is so delicious and fresh. The owner, Amy, even grows many of the ingredients in her own garden with love. You can pick the level of spice to your liking and even though it can be hot, it’s still so flavorful and well balanced. Amy is very nice and even remembered us from our last (and first) visit. She even remembered our preference on spiciness! Highly, highly recommend to you and for you to tell all your family, friends, and strangers in hearing proximity.

Diner Review №63

EXCELLENT. The service, the food, the iced tea... we had some of the best coconut shrimp and papaya salad here!! The crispy duck was phenomenal as well. Our waitress was the owner's wife, and she was as sweet as they come... please support this amazing small business. You won't regret it!

Diner Review №64

Good food, fair prices

Diner Review №65

Only one staff up front service slow my husbands starter came out way ahead of my small soup...this was probably the worst tempura shrimp I have ever EVER had..for quit a lot of money I had 3 supposed to be shrimp at least I think they were shrimp..the mass of over thick battered vegetables were awful..I left them and she did take them off the bill..my soup and my husbands meal were ok DO YOURSELF A FAVOR DO NOT ORDER TEMPURA

Diner Review №66

The best Thai food I’ve ever had! This visit we ordered Chicken Wings, Chicken Penang Curry and Spicy Fried rice. The food is so fresh and the vegetables are cooked to perfection.

Diner Review №67

We have been coming here since it was Pie-Thai. Amy is a fabulous cook and gracious host. You feel as it she is feeding her family, (the ones you actually talk to) Food and portions are great. Crispy Duck (I have a little ginger added) is off the hook apps are super

You cannot go wrong here. Family friendly, affordable and tasty. Plenty of parking but not that many tables,so call ahead.

Diner Review №68

Excellent food and will accommodate any orders changes. Genuine Thai food. Nice people own this restaurant as well.

Diner Review №69

Great selections and lots of choices for a vegan. Amy is very accommodating on modifying a menu item to taste.

Diner Review №70

Diner Review №71

Diner Review №72

Best Thai food I have ever had and the owner is the nicest person! Anyone in area should check this place out

Diner Review №73

Came in here with low expectations, expecting decent food. But the moment I picked up the fork and tasted some of their noodles, my mind was blown. The food had taste that I haven’t experienced in years! The food they have also had low on calories according to the waitress as well. I highly recommended coming here if you want to try new foods, or just want to eat something delicious! 10/10

Diner Review №74

Amazing food, amazing service. Amy serves incredibly craveable food, we will be back!

Diner Review №75

The food at Thai Basil is always great! We love the Duck and Panang Curry there. You can taste the difference from other Thai restaurants. The owner, Amy, is so bright and friendly. You can tell she is passionate about her business and cares about the customers. We love coming here every time because we know the food will be great quality!

Diner Review №76

Food is great and service is excellent!!

Diner Review №77

Amy and her husband cook authentic Thai food. If you want to change stuff up Amy is extraordinarily accommodating. We have been coming here for years. We do not care for the thai place on Okeechobee. This is the real deal.

Diner Review №78

The Best Thai restaurant Ever... The Owner, Amy is Awesome.. She makes the Best Food, Any way you want it. Mix and match. Thanks

Diner Review №79

Five Stars Does Not Do It Justice...authentic, delicious Thai cuisine from family recipes by lovely and talented cooks who know how Thai Food should be prepared and presented. 10 Stars!

Diner Review №80

By far the best Thai available. The owner took the time to tell us about her northern Thailand style of cooking, and she explained how all the curries are vegan (and meats are added for those who desire). Other places add fish sauce in the basic recipe and limit what vegetarians/vegans can order. And service was great. This is my new favorite local restaurant.

Diner Review №81

Went there with my husband last night for the first time when I got to tell you it was the most authentic Thai food I've ever eaten. Amy was delightful and she makes all the curry herself. The flavor and Portion was amazing. Highly recommend

Diner Review №82

Diner Review №87

Best Thai in the area..

Diner Review №88

I've been coming here for years! It is delicious! The best Thai food I've ever had. Everything is cooked made to order. The food is fresh. And it's so reasonably priced! Even during Covid I eat from there at least twice per week, I always pick it up on my way home from work. I'm a vegan so she caters to my liking and knows how to prepare it the way I can eat it. They are the nicest people too. Definitely order and pick up from here, it's so great!

Diner Review №89

I absolutely love this place! They know my order the second they recognize my voice over the phone and the food is always on time and delicious. It's been difficult finding a good Thai place in the area since coming from NYC, but Thai Basil really hits the spot! Definitely worth a try - your tastebuds won't regret it!

Diner Review №90

This had to be the worst take out food that I have ever had. It arrived cold, the vegtable tempura was nothing but flour and hard to indentify the vegtables. I ordered I dinner and some appetizers for $79.00 , the food arrived in little bags like I was eating at a cheap fast food reataurant, the spring rolls had nothing in them. When I called the restautrant to talk to the manager , I was told that they where now closed and nobody was there. Please do not try (Horrible )experience I normally would not write a review that was bad, but I could not stop myself, but since they could not talk to me about my order I had to , I would NOT give it a one star but had to to complete review process. thank you

Diner Review №91

Diner Review №92

Thai Basil by Amy is the best true Thai restaurant in the area. Deep in the heart of this giant corner plaza off SR7-441 & Southern Blvd lies a foodie's dream. This is the place to go for authentic and delish Thai food..like homemade Southeast Asia cuisine. The panang curry is ON POINT. My wife adore's the shrimp pad thai. They are willing to adapt for personal preferences on almost all dishes. The firecracker fish with veggies has been one of my favorite seafood dishes in the county. Fresh, flavorful, awesome. I look forward to coming back as much as possible. Amen.

Diner Review №93

Diner Review №94

Food is tasty and with fresh herbs

Diner Review №95

What a wonderful dining experience. Ate here tonight with 5 other foodies and we all concur 👍👍. Authentic Thai cuisine at its best. For appetizers we had; Mee Krob, Papaya salad, Chicken Satay, Steamed dumplings (fresh)... did I say fresh.
For our main entree; Curry Tofu, Curry Salmon( no coconut), Yana noodle with Chicken, Fish fire Cracker, No carb noodle with Shrimp.
Small local restaurant very family oriented, making everyone feel at home. They were able to meet all our dietary needs.
Dessert Mango with sticky rich & toasted Coconut Ice cream
We'll be back

Diner Review №116

This was our first time at Thai Basil our server was Melanie. She was wonderful! She was very attentive, warm, and friendly. The food was amazing.
