I made a reservation for 8:30 PM and arrived on time but was informed there would be a 20–30 minute wait to be seated. After 45 minutes, I approached the host stand for an update. The first staff member I spoke to explained there was no guarantee of when I would be seated and suggested speaking to management. Another staff member mentioned that seating depends on when current guests leave and noted that the restaurant was fully booked. I inquired about the purpose of making a reservation under these circumstances, and they explained that seating is handled as it becomes available.
I also had a reservation for brunch the following day and asked if the same issue might occur. The response was unclear. Eventually, I spoke with the manager, who was polite and clarified that there was a wait specifically for outside seating, which had not been communicated when I arrived. There seemed to be some miscommunication regarding seating preferences, as I had not been asked for a preference initially. About an hour later, while speaking with the manager, I received notifications that my table was ready. I ended up cancelling my brunch reservation for the next day due to the experience.
The food did not meet expectations for the price. The Crab Dumplings were cold, with a rubbery texture and chewy dough, resembling something frozen and microwaved rather than freshly prepared. At $30, I expected much better. The Thai Beef was also far too salty. Overall, the food quality fell short of the cost.
The atmosphere had highlights and drawbacks. The dancers were excellent and added a lively element to the evening. However, the music was extremely loud, creating an environment more reminiscent of a nightclub than a dinner setting.
Additionally, I noticed that no one responds to reviews, which gives the impression that guest feedback is not valued. My server was somewhat attentive but seemed disengaged, as though they didn’t want to be there. I rarely write negative reviews, but this experience warrants it. The bottom line is that the establishment seems not to care about its guests.
Why didn’t anyone tell me about this restaurant!
We recently dined at this posh restaurant at The Hotel Setai in Miami Beach to celebrate my niece's birthday.
She made reservations for seven people several weeks ago. We arrived well before our reservation time. However, because the valet line was several cars deep, we made it in just within the 20-minute grace period.
While waiting in the beautiful hotel lobby, we had cocktails and took photos. The crowd was mostly an older one, but there were also couples with young children and young adults dining as well. Personally, I don't recommend the little ones for an evening at a restaurant like this, but that's a personal preference.
We sat near the stage, where we saw two beautiful performances. We ordered appetizers to share and then went straight to our main course, which I wish we could have shared because everyone was so happy with their choices that I wanted some of theirs too!
By the end of the evening, everyone agreed that we would plan to go back. We sang happy birthday to my niece with the cake she brought (extra fee for that), followed by macaroons that our server surprised my youngest daughter with for her birthday, which was only a few hours later.
It’s going to sound like an ad, but truthfully, if you are celebrating anything, please don't miss out and consider Jaya at The Setai. The food, performers, DJ, and the personable service were all truly amazing.
We had an amazing experience thanks to our server, Joe Carl ! From the moment we sat down, he was incredibly attentive, friendly, and professional. He made sure we had everything we needed, offered great recommendations, and checked in frequently without being intrusive. His positive attitude and excellent service truly enhanced our dining experience. If you’re lucky enough to have Joe as your server, you’re in for a great time! Highly recommend!

⭐️ Variety of food
⭐️ Topping up of the buffet
⭐️ Friendly staff
⭐️ Beautiful atmosphere
Special mention for the blondie from the dessert section 😍
Excellent knowledge from the servers on the food in their area - I have a peanut allergy and was well accommodated.
We did have to wait in the lobby with many others before being seated, not the best welcoming.
Great attention when topping up of water and champagne, but my soft drink order was forgotten completely.
After paying the bill (including the 20% service charge) the waitress said ‘a tip for me’, which we’re learning is now a sympathy beg and makes you rather uncomfortable.
We were understandably hungry after our flight into town and Jaya's menu seemed intriguing. This place can be kind of tricky to find bc from the street there is a storefront but the doors are locked, you have to go through the hotel lobby to reach the restaurant.
Once inside, there are two beautiful choices to sit - inside or outside at the ocean view. We chose inside bc of the wind. The staff is extremely attentive. I think we had no less than 5 different servers tending to our needs.
The food was delicious. My husband got the salmon and I opted for the turkey club with fries. Both main dishes were perfectly prepared, the fries arrived cold but edible.
Good to know: this restaurant automatically adds about 18% gratuity as well as a service fee to the bill, regardless of table size.
Jaya at The Setai offers a culinary experience that’s nothing short of spectacular. The food is mouthwatering, with every dish packed with bold, vibrant flavors. Their drink menu is equally impressive, featuring delicious cocktails that perfectly complement the cuisine. The ambiance is truly one of a kind. With live DJ performances and entertainment, the energy is lively and immersive, making every meal feel like an event. Be mindful of the dress code, as it’s quite strict. Inside the Setai hotel is a restaurant called Jaya.
To sum it up: Completely unprofessional waitress and host staff, high prices unfortunately outweigh good food and music.
My group of four went here for a birthday celebration. We had reservations and were seated right away.
To sum it up it’s like eating dinner inside a club. The DJ is bumping the tunes while you barely can talk to your guests because of the loud music. The dance floor was closed so I’m not sure why you can’t dance and eat at the same time.
Food was pretty good but expensive. $30 for a bowl of rice and some shrimp. $35 for a whiskey cocktail. Being from LA I was shocked on the prices especially when the service was complete poop.
The biggest disappointment was the lack of professionalism from our waiter Janesy and host.
Automatic 20 percent service charge to our server who never checked on us and was too busy talking to her hostess friends. Then at the end asks for another tip on top of her twenty percent.
Don’t forget the sales tax, south beach city tax and service charge and we have over a $100 in taxes.
Good food, nice decor/interior, nice people watching but pathetic wait staff.
High gratuity tax for non existent services. Had to ask for utensils and more water.
You should see the table next to us, it took them a half hour or more to get their food.
Hire better staff who care. Avoid Janesy if you can.

The Rose Buffet on Saturday was everything your palate and appetite would desire. Great experience. The atmosphere was just right. Beautiful location.
A joke! Unfortunately I can’t add a good pic because the place is so dark. Security advised that selfie lights are restricted! Whattt? Dark place dark skinned people and no selfie light for better pics. Never again…$600 spent with poor quality memories. Never again.

I had an absolutely awful experience with the front desk staff at this restaurant. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with nothing but indifference and rudeness. The staff were unhelpful, barely made eye contact, and acted as though my presence was an inconvenience. They seemed completely uninterested in assisting with any questions or requests. The lack of professionalism and courtesy was shocking. It's hard to believe such a poor attitude is allowed to represent the restaurant. I won't be coming back and I highly suggest others avoid this place if they value even basic customer service.
Very bad front desk service.
Greg bartender for Jaya is absolutely amazing! Great service, food recommendations, and warm hospitality. Thank you from Jim and Regina visiting from the Northeast.
Be very careful about the drinks served to children. We went on new year's day for dinner. It was also a birthday celebration for one of our family members. We had two little kids in our party. Son ordered cranberry juice, but whatever he was served, he didn't like it. We later tasted it and it seemed like a coffee liquor, definitely an alcoholic drink,.given to a very young kid. We let the server know, he gave us another drink but no apology whatsoever. By this time we were nearly done and were not impressed with the rest of the food either ( three people in our party took the thali) . We should have ideally called the manager, etc. but since we had a very young child as well and it was getting late, we went back to our hotel. However, I do want to let folks know that please taste what's being served to the kids at this place, just to be sure.
I really wanted to love Jaya. The atmosphere and vibes are incredible for a fun dinner and night out. The drinks are good but the food was eh, especially for the price. The fried rice was delicious but so small. The tuna crispy rice was okay, too much rice. And the chicken wings were bazaar, tasted like they were smothered in ketchup not a flavorful sauce like described on the menu. Still enjoyed the restaurant a lot just wish the food was better
Amazing setting and great food. The Thai beef was delicious.
You have to wait in line for an hour and a half for your table even if you have a reservation. Terrible service.
Food was ok.. I didn't like the duck at all but the sushi was really good.
Enriqueta was our server and was amazing.. First time ever I see a lady so friendly and so quick with everything. Wish the best for her.
I haven't even began to eat there yet, but the service has already been amazing.
Ana Garcia went well beyond her job to make sure my multiple reservations were taking care of. She listened, was solution oriented and even cc'd me and followed up with her team to make sure everyone was on the same page.
A great start to what will surely be a great experience at Jaya & Ocean Grill at the Setai

I would definitely come back. I went to dinner with my husband, and we had a great time, good atmosphere with a show for the diners, we can't complain, the service was very friendly and cordial, the food was incredible, a good combination of flavors, in fact we were surprised that for how full the place was our dishes arrived very quickly, I recommend the shrimp Pathai, it was delicious.
Atmosphere 10/10, service was ok, crowded night. The food very mediocre! This spot is really for the ambiance and instagram stories, felt like microwave minute rice with frozen beef/stir fry sauce. For the price I cannot recommend

They made accommodation for us to sit outside even though there was an event and they were full.
Overpriced garbage. The Peking duck was bland and tasteless. The salmon curry was so so. Service was slow. Our server disappeared for 15 minutes at a time. The trapeze dancer made up for the otherwise terrible experience. Don’t go here and save yourself some money.

Terrible for larger parties, the host are beyond rude and won’t accommodate requests that management verbally confirmed week in advance.
After waiting for 90 minimum when I walked up to the host again to enquire about the table, they insisted that I address her as Madam.
With that attitude, I hope the get to stay in business for years to come. Can’t see myself dining here ever
Probably the worst Indian food I have had in my life! Overrated - would not recommend it
We went there for the christmas eve dinner , our server was Levent . Honestly he was the BEST ! how he isnt promoted to manager is crazy to me ! he knows hospitality and made the evening super memorable. Food & ambience were spectacular too .
Very rude staff.
Good food ,plenty of variety and great servers, hostess could be more personalable
Awful staff and very desorganizad, doesn’t matter if you make reservations you still need to wait in line to check in and after that you still need to wait for them to call you, availability will be inside only, and they will tell you they don’t have anything available for outside. Not recommended end up telling the host to cancel the reservation…
Very angry hostess, nasty attitude towards guests, doesn’t even listen to what you want to say
Very rude staff, didn't even wait until we finish talking, instead they were talking fast and referring you to follow without even looking or listening to you. I called multiple times requesting a table outside next to the show, I could choose a day to go there and asked specifically which day they have. When I showed up an African American lady screamed 2h for you and gave me a table next to the wall completely out of my request in a very nasty way. We were treated very bad before we even started our dinner. Our experience was very unpleasant.
Amazing place and awesome time. Ambience is good, entertainment is good. Food is awesome
No voy a volver. Muy mala atención.
This is the worst ‘fine dining’ experience ever. Music is too loud. Bad taste of music. Food is the worst, they have some misunderstanding upon Asian food or Asian fusion. The dumpling has nearly no inner fillings. I’d like to pay 2000 for a real good experience, but not 200 for this. :)
Beautiful atmosphere, fantastic jazz band, and excellent service. Levant was phenomenal - the food was solid. I’m not a big buffet fan, but the 5 star service from everyone who works there and amazing live music made the brunch experience worth it.
Way overpriced … food’s tiny portions aren’t worth the insane prices. We also appreciate the waiters demanding tips on top of a 20% service fee
They tax the 20% service charge. You are supposed to tax the food only, not the tip. That's illegal.
It’s a beautiful restaurant and a very nice hotel but unfortunately the hostesses they hired or were working that night were classless and do not represent this brand from appearance to attitude what a shame !
Cocktails were excellent food was average
Great design and cocktails but below average service and food . Kept us waiting to get seated way longer than expected. Hostess was unfriendly, food so so . For this high price tag , I would expect much better service and food . Not a repeat
Servers give an attitude. Food is okay.
This restaurant is a MUST whenever you visit Miami. I did not expect to be so blown away by the food, presentation & service 12/10!
I went to celebrate my birthday and I will definitely return!
Jaya at The Setai offers an exceptional dining experience that blends elegance with a tranquil, outdoor setting. I had the pleasure of sitting by the fountain, where the gentle sound of the water created a perfect relaxing ambiance ideal for a cozy yet upscale lunch date.
We began with the Saigon Gimlet, a striking cocktail with just the right kick! topped with a vibrant red chili for a playful touch of spice. The presentation alone hinted at the culinary artistry to come.
The Tuna Tacos stole the show right away. Served in crispy taro shells, the fresh tuna was paired with a bold yet balanced sauce, garnished with thin slices of radish that added both texture and visual appeal. Alongside, the Har Gau A.K.A shrimp dumplings, arrived in a bamboo steamer, offering tender shrimp wrapped in delicate translucent dough. They practically melted in my mouth.
Both dishes were as refined as they were flavorful.
For my main course, I went with the Pad Thai, which was everything you’d want! tangy, sweet, and packed with flavor. The noodles and shrimps were cooked perfectly, the peanuts added just the right amount of crunch and the portion was satisfying without feeling overwhelming.
The service was as impeccable as the food.
Lina, our server, was the sweetest and made sure every detail of our experience was perfect. Her genuine warmth and attentiveness made the experience extra special.
If you’re visiting Jaya, sitting outside is a must. The serene atmosphere, paired with exceptional cuisine, makes it a great choice for a romantic lunch or any occasion where you want to feel pampered.
Went for the thanksgiving brunch and it was definitely a let down. First of all the valet was full and it was a hassle to find street parking it took over 15 minutes.
The dinning hall was packed and the arrears to grab the buffet food were so crowded it was complete chaos.
The food was very mediocre at best. The Indian and Asian food was the best part. I was hoping to indulge myself with some Turkey and thanks giving type foods but wow everything was bland and dry. Total bummer.
For 135$ this was definitely NOT worth it
On Thanksgiving, I arrived to the restaurant expecting to valet and was told that valet was full. There were valet attendants waiting to give back cars. I asked if I could wait and my
Car be taken. They said no and I was advised to park on the street or to park at the nearest parking garage and that they would be giving me a discount and the parking garage for having a reservation with Jaya. The valet gave me a ticket to give to the parking garage.
When I arrive to the parking garage recommended I was told to park on the sixth floor. The attendant in the garage had me move multiple times. And once I finally parked, I asked where the nearest elevator was and they told me there was no elevator. So I had to walk down six flights of steps and walk back up six flights of steps With my 76-year-old grandmother . After brunch was completed, valet said they were open again. For this caliber of restaurant, I was very disappointed with the lack of parking. And the lack of accommodation and not being told that we were sent to a parking garage that had no elevator access. There is no sense of remorse and for that I will not be coming back. The food was good and my service was good while we’re eating, but I did not like how we retreated from the door

Amazing Asian food in a beautiful setting… I really enjoyed the vegetarian options , the dishes were very fresh and delicious . There was a performer I had the pleasure to video … see below …
Service was very slow and not good for this type of establishment… the typical Miami mediocre service …
I'm from Toronto and I was visiting Miami. Me and friend went to dinner here for her bday. At first glance walking in the place is breathtaking. The water, the tables, the lighting , everything was amazing. Then when we got seated our waiter Armando was so attentive to us. I would turn my head and my glass would be refilled with water without me noticing. He was on top of everything and made our experience very nice. There was a dj playing good music. Even some entertainment that starts at 8pm
There's also Eded Art gallery attached to the same restaurant and it was absolutely amazing in there! The pieces in there were captivating.
I truly enjoyed my time at the restaurant, the food was fresh and tasted amazing. 1000/10 I recommend. It is a bit on the pricier side but you are paying for the experience.
Great dinner spot with shows
Really liked this place!
Why didn’t anyone tell me about this restaurant!

Came here because of all the hype. Place is very nice. Music was good. Food and drinks were very good. SERVICE was horrible at the check in. Shakari employee was horrendous she was rude not just to the customers also to the employee working with her. She seems unhappy with her job. After being seated wherever not what we reserved our waitress Hilda was wonderful. Would recommend even after rude service!
I had an incredibly frustrating experience at this restaurant. I waited for three hours to be seated, only to be told that the wait would be just 25 minutes when I checked in. To make matters worse, the staff was unbelievably rude. Not only did I have to wait an unnecessarily long time, but I also watched as other customers who arrived after me were seated while I was completely ignored. The lack of respect for my time and the unprofessional behavior of the staff made this an utterly disappointing experience. I will not be returning.
Beautiful decor, delicious cocktails, and good music. We were there to celebrate a milestone birthday, and the service was so slow and negligent. The server acted like he was forced to work. Even the food was poorly cooked. The octopus was hard as rock, and we couldn't consume it. It was such a disappointing place to celebrate. At the end, the server even asked for an additional tip in addition to the mandatory 20% service charge. It was cheap. They could do better if they really tried.
Exceptional across the board
This place has completely changed overtime and unfortunately they have poor management. Upon sitting down, we weren't comfortable where we were sat and asked to be moved. The manager IRINA did not entertain our needs and did not offer alternatives nor turn around my experience. I was so upset and wanted to leave. I only chose to stay as it was a surprise birthday dinner for me and didn't want to upset everyone else. The fact that my other guest said "it's her birthday" and IRINA said "i don't care it doesn't matter" was not quite the answer i was expecting considering it's a luxury hotel. All we asked was to be moved to another table were there were many others available.
The manager said "that table is reserved for a big party" but 15 mins later they sat another couple.
This truly put a bad taste in my mouth in the beginning of "service". How upsetting that a simple ask is entertained with MEDIOCRITY by poor choice of management.
Terrible service
Terrible
Beautiful atmosphere and delicious food!
Overrated. Totally charge you high price for non Overrated food . Like truffle dumpling. Or 3 peace of lamp .
I had an amazing dinning experience here with my boyfriend. Thank you to all the staff, servers, and Managment for making me feel welcomed. Thank you Valentina for the excellent attention to detail and for accommodating us. I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re in miami.
Amazing atmosphere, great show and the service at the restaurant is next level. Thank you for the great hospitality Valentina , and thank you for the great attentive service by Alberto. This restaurant is amazing I highly recommended and now they have another one called Japon.
We came to Jaya for Miami Spice Week, and it was a wonderful way to try the cuisine and experience the stunning atmosphere and entertainment that starts at 8 pm.
The indoor restaurant is really outdoors with overhead coverings, so there is plenty of fresh air. Tall palm trees and pools of water and couches and traditional tables give the restaurant a special atmosphere. It can be a little humid until you get used to it.
I got the Truffle dumplings which were shrimp and scallops in a paper thin wrapper with a truffle foam emulsion. They were delicious. My husband got the Salmon Sashimi and the Thai Beef which came with rice and lettuce wraps. The waiter offered to ask the chef to make it less spicy. It still had a kick to it. I got the Peking Duck which was half a duck, perfectly cooked, moist and the crunchy skin and hoisin sauce. It came with plenty of thin pancakes. I thought the scallions and cucumbers were a little dried out but were still fine. For dessert, we got the Jivara chocolate puff with chocolate ice cream.
Our waiter provides a relaxed leisurely dining experience by taking our next order only after we finished each course. We did have to wait for our entree, but it may have been because I ordered the Peking Duck or because the restaurant was crowded.
We sat against the wall to the right when you walk in which was under the speakers, but they were not pointed at us, so the DJ music was not too loud.
The two woman dance and acrobatic shows began a little after 8:30 pm when they mopped up the stage floor. There are two stages and the tables to the far right had the best view. We were behind some poles but could see some of it. They were graceful, mesmerizing, strong, and sexy. They each had a performance roughly every half an hour.
We had the hurricane passing near Florida, so we got some surprise rain showers. I recommend avoiding the table to the left when you walk in from the hostess stand, since that really got rained on and kept the staff busy wiping up the floor and tables/chairs.
Dining at Jaya was one of our highlights of our trip to Miami. Delicious food, great service, a beautiful atmosphere and wonderful entertainment.
Over priced. I had a brunch buffet on the weekend, and it was $150 per person. Food was not bad, but definitely not $150 worthy. My least favorite was the sushi part, when the food is getting lower, instead of changing the whole plate, they just add more sushi/sashimi on top of the older ones. On the way to get food, water was leaking from the ceiling, too many people, service was horrible. Im not going back.
We had breakfast here for a few days when we stayed in a suite in The Setai. Breakfast was 7-11. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating had mister fans to cool off the guests. The staff were very helpful and friendly. They had lots of great choices including cereal, oatmeal, bagels and breads, pancakes, waffles, Singapore noodles, various cheese, and much more. They also have an egg station with many different possible combinations. There is Sunday brunch which looked amazing. At night it is exactly what you expect from Miami. There was a dj in the middle over the lit up water. It was a club type atmosphere that served great food. Would definitely come back.
As soon as you walk in, this restaurant has a beautiful ambiance. Everything about it is elegant and thoughtfully crafted. The service was amazing, the food was delicious, the show they put on was so cool and the fusion of Indian and Asian culture was a unique and beautiful experience. I will definitely be back.
I went for Miami Spice to get the $45 3 course meal deal. Food was good but the service wasn't what I thought it would be. They must be upset by loosing out on tip money so they try to scam you in other ways. Menu said truffle dumplings were +8 but when the check came it was +10. I also asked for a house red and they gave me a $32 glass! Please make sure to check your receipt and don't trust them when it comes to prices on ANYTHING.
Service fee of 20% is also automatically added.
Went here for my Birthday and I had a pleasant experience! Their endless options to choose from were delicious. It is on the pricey side for a Brunch ($105 pp) but it's absolutely worth it. You get endless filet, branzino, Peking duck, Asian station, made to order omelets, crepes, sushi, dessert station and much much more. And did I mention bottomless mojitos?! You also get champagne but I had my waitress make mines into Bellini's. The ambiance is pretty and all staff were super sweet.
I would definitely come back here!
Boooo ruined tinis birthday/bachelorette trip
I come here all the time because I’m a local. But last night was by far the most stressful, inconsiderate and impolite response form the staff at Jaya. We made a reservation at 9pm we sign in and no one mentions anything about my lace dress. I have a full cheeky high waisted underwear and full coverage bra underneath. Tuttleneck long sleeve, bla bla whatever it’s Miami, right?!?! Well after waiting an hour we go up to the host and then she tells us that she cannot accommodate us outside because I’m wearing shear. I say okay and go back into the restaurant at the bar I was and ordered my food there. I guess my dress was not the problem because I then see a girl with no bra on a thong and a two piece lace too and skirt on. Why not just admit you over booked!?!?!? Don’t profile me!! Then Francisco the manager on duty says oh im sorry I will get you a table now….seriously?!? It’s already 11 pm…. So the dress code wasn’t the problem!! What bad service and super unprofessional!!! I’m sorry but one star because I can’t give none!! Train you Manager Francisco he does not know how to deliver!
Would I come here again, nah. Would I recommend it, not really. A reservation should mean you get seated at the reserved time, do not expect that here. A 2 hour wait for a reservation made at 9 seated at 11. Is the food worth the wait not really, high prices for a sub par meal. I've had better at a fast food restaurant, and that was being sober. Service is lack luster, seen other tables seated after me served before me, definitely not a place to come if you want to eat. Atmosphere is amazing, seating is great, but again this is a place to eat, not to wait, if I wanted that I could go to the DMV.
Awful place!
I went to Jaya at the Setai for dinner with my family for my sister's birthday. We were a group of 5 adults and the bill included service charges. We spent around $404 total for everything.
We arrived a bit early for our reservation but we were able to be seated right away. The service was great. Our main server was very great at explaining everything. Besides our main server, there were servers everywhere refilling our glasses constantly, taking our plates, etc. These are things you expect when you go to a more expensive restaurant. There was also a wine guy. I did feel like they were trying to get us to buy an alcoholic beverage at one point. That was my only gripe. But we were only there for solid calories.
For an appetizer, we tried the Octopus which was fantastic. The Octopus was fried but it wasn't breaded. I would have definitely ordered more if we didn't already have a game plan.
For our main dishes, we ordered many entrees and shared around the table since it was our first time trying food at the restaurant. We ordered the Thali Platter, Peking Duck, Thai Beef, two Fried Rice (vegetable only) dishes, and Pad Thai. By the end of the night my stomach was full. The Thai beef was supposed to be spicy but it actually was not at all. The Thali Platter had more spice which is expected since it was an Indian dish. The Peking Duck was delicious. It was tender and the skin was well-seasoned. The Pad Thai was also very good along with the fried rice. Actually it was all very good now that I think of it. There was nothing to take home.
For dessert, we were full so we only ordered two which was great because the deserts were small as well. We ordered the mochi and the ice cream. They were good but nothing to sing praises about.
As we were leaving, the performance was starting for the night. If we knew the performer started at 8 PM, we may have gotten a later reservation. But we did get to see some of it. But overall, the experience was nice and the service was great. We all went home content with full stomachs.
Horrible service from the jump. Food was okay. But everything else sucked. Wait wasn’t accurate and the workers seemed to judge any and every person that came in. Would not recommend
**Review of Jaya at The Setai, Miami Beach**
If you’re headed to Jaya at The Setai, you’re in for a treat—mostly! The food is pretty good overall, but the real winners are their holiday meals and brunches, which are just amazing. Plus, dinner comes with a side of acrobatics! It’s super fun to watch performers doing their thing while you dig into your meal.
Just a heads up, though—the service can be a bit of a gamble. Sometimes it's spot on, but other times, it might feel like you’re being overlooked. So, if you go, maybe time your visit for one of their special meals. That's when they really shine!
Jaya by The Setai offers a truly enchanting ambiance that immediately draws you in. The presentation of the dishes is simply stunning, adding an artistic flair to the dining experience. The food itself is satisfying with generous portions that leave you content. What really sets the evening apart, though, is the show—an entertaining touch that makes the moment feel special.
Overall, it's a memorable dining experience that I would highly recommend.
If your all about the ambiance and not about the food… this is it! Sub par duck, sub par malai chicken, service was hard to come by. But hey have at er!
I recently visited Jaya at The Setai and was quite disappointed with my experience. I ordered the Thali, expecting a flavorful and authentic meal, but it turned out to be very basic and lacked taste. The rice was not nicely cooked very dry, which made the dish even less enjoyable. For the price point and the reputation of the restaurant, I expected much better. The ambiance is lovely, but unfortunately, the food did not live up to the setting. Not recommended if you’re looking for a truly flavorful and well-prepared Indian meal.
Gabriel was amazing, his service was like no other. Food was phenomenal, highly recommend their duck!
It was great actually and the Miami Spice menu was nice and affordable while still delivering an elegant dining experience that featured live performances including a trapeze artist and a DJ. The room is dimly lit with an open roof, showcasing the night sky. Fans circulated through the air, albeit the room remained at the temperature of the outdoors which, unfortunately at this time, was still hot. Overall, the food selection is a unique ensemble of familiar favorites, and their most coveted offer is their extensive wine collection. I rate the experience a 9/10, simply because of their thermostat issue.
Love it
Very nice place to eat unfortunately the waiter was attending to many table we where rushed and neglected
Food and drinks where good
Keep in mind tax are high and pay parking only 🫣
sunday brunch is my favorite cant wait till vacation this year
You must dine here in your trip to miami!!
One of my favorite i have been to in Miami and we did dine here twice as it combines both food and service!
Nice ambiance and live performance
The Branzino was underwhelming. Server brought a dish with dairy despite us informing her of a dairy allergy and initially telling us it did not contain dairy.
Sunday brunch at the Setai is a steal!
My fiance and I came here for our anniversary dinner. The ambiance was vibrant, with an energetic setting. The entertainers are talented and put on a fantastic show. The servers are attentive and provide excellent hospitality. During our visit, we decided to try a variety of dishes, including the veggie Pad Thai, garlic naan bread, steak and mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, all the food we were served lacked flavor, which was quite disappointing considering the many raved reviews of this place and the lively atmosphere of the venue didn't match the food quality.
I returned to eat at the other restaurant at Setai and I also went to Ocean Grill to thank Alvin for great service last week. I met the manager who is from Hungary. He wasn’t there the night I was there and I just think we don’t recognize good service enough. Maybe this could help resolve the mediocrity that we face in the Miami Beach area. Notice there are some very good restaurants that don’t force a service fee. I think we need to speak up more. On mediocre service, well sadly I experienced it at Jaya. I still don’t understand why bartenders here can’t concoct a tasty cocktail…. OYE! One thing my Chinese grandsons have taught me is that you can ruin a simple bowl of white rice and if they can’t cook a good bowl of rice it is probably downhill from there. Well, it was. Plus you know if the scallops and shrimp are rubbery someone isn’t on top of their game in the kitchen. Caveat Emptor if you wait an hour for your table with reservations and then told during your meal that you have 20 minutes left then there are major problems at the hostess station and management. The hostess station here has other issues which it would take too long to describe. But let’s face it tourists love this place. The open gymnasium space teeming with humidity, a very good dj with music as if you were at Studio 54, and with two very talented gymnasts a la Las Vegas style. If you want romance at Setai go to Ocean Grill, if you want Chinese circus go to Jaya. My client likes Jaya but the client said the quality of food must be different during the winter.
DO NOT ORDER CHICKEN TIKA.
There is another disconnect in the kitchen…SAUCES DONT MATCH THE QUALITY OF THE DISH.
Came here for our engagement dinner. This was a absolute experience from the second we walked in the attention to detail was fantastic. The food was amazing to the point it might have been the first time I can say it's actually the best food I've tried. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a dinner and show. It can get pricey but they have options for everyone
Amazing place for brunch!! All you can eat and drink for 2 hours. The quality of the Asian fusion food and service is impeccable. The atmosphere is also super cool, and the beautiful decor,a great DJ, is surrounded by a pool.
The approximate price per person is $100 but definitely worth it. Can wait to come back soon. Totally recommend.
BE WARNED THIS BRUNCH VENUE IS SO HOT THAT IT'S NOT ENJOYABLE!! We sat inside and it was still so hot we were sweating and lost our appetite to eat. The food here is actually pretty mediocre, the cuts of meat aren't high quality, the sushi is good, pastries aren't fresh or warm, and it's fairly expensive unless you're able to drink a LOT. Desserts also are just ok.
Beautiful place and ecxelent food and service
Beautiful interior, very nice staff and tasty food!
We had the pleasure of being served by Ivana at Jaya restaurant in Miami, and it was an absolute delight! Ivana's warm smile, attentive service, and genuine kindness made our dining experience truly exceptional. She took the time to understand our preferences and made recommendations that did not disappoint. Her knowledge of the menu and wine list was impressive, and her passion for the food she served was evident. Ivana's dedication to ensuring we had a fantastic evening was clear, and we left feeling grateful and satisfied. If you're looking for a top-notch dining experience in Miami, head to Jaya and ask for Ivana. She's a shining star and a true asset to the team! 5 stars and a huge thank you to Ivana for making our evening so special!
"I had a wonderful dining experience at Jaya restaurant, thanks to Ivana, our excellent waitress! She provided top-notch service, ensuring our needs were met and our glasses were always full. Ivana's attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable approach made our evening truly enjoyable. Her recommendations were spot-on, and her warm smile added to the welcoming atmosphere. Kudos to Ivana and the team at Jaya restaurant for a fantastic night out!"
Mixed Feelings from a Return Visit to Jaya
Two weeks ago, my family and I, including two children, my wife, and my mom, revisited Jaya, having had an exceptional experience there before. Our expectations were set high by memories of fire-breathing belly dancers and excellent outdoor dining, but this visit left us with mixed feelings.
Our initial disappointment came even before arriving, as I received a call informing us that outdoor seating was unavailable due to closure, which was particularly disheartening as it was the highlight of our previous visits. However, upon arriving, it was perplexing to see that there were actually guests seated outdoors, which indicated a clear miscommunication and frankly, felt like we were misled.
The front staff did not do much to uplift our spirits. Their indifferent attitude upon our arrival was off-putting and did not make us feel welcomed. Though we were seated indoors, the absence of the belly dancers, another feature we had looked forward to, further dampened our evening.
On a brighter note, our waiter was attentive and proficient, bringing a positive note to our experience. The food, however, was just satisfactory and did not seem to justify the premium we were paying for the meal.
In summary, while there were a few highlights, the overall experience was mediocre, especially given the expectations set by both the price and our previous visit. We hope Jaya can bring back the charm and exceptional service we know it can provide.
Service at this posh, high end restaurant stinks. They are definitely not short staffed, yet people are waiting just to order food.
I enjoyed our brunch.
Good variety of food, good quality.
Staff was friendly, environment is great. I recommend you book brunch until 2pm max - we booked for 3pm but the food was only available until 4pm…. The waitress said because it was Father’s Day brunch we could have until 4:30. At 4:32 I have tried to get some desert and they have taken the food out.
Place is beautiful. They had a jazz band. But we could not enjoy it as we were at the indoor tables - so try to ask for an outdoor table if you would like to enjoy the band as well.
We had fun and I would come back. Good value for money.
Great atmosphere & drinks. Our server Jaensy Sosa was very friendly and accommodating! Great place for special occasions.
Had brunch at the Setai in Miami Beach this past Saturday based on the reviews I read online. I was completely disappointed. The brunch selection was terrible. The restaurant atmosphere was underwhelming and service was mediocre. The only decent item we had was from the omelette station. Everything else from the breakfast potatoes to the waffles and pancakes was dry and rubbery. Save your money and go to Denny’s or iHOP. The Setai brunch is not worth it. Also in addition it costs $22 for parking even after you spend $100 on brunch. Run Away!!!
The food is absolutely diabolical. No flavor. None of our food was hot. I felt horrible telling the waiter that we did not like our food but literally everything they brought out was a disappointment. HOWEVER when the manage came on her own to ask how it was I told her our opinions and she was VERY sweet.
I can't speak for the food because I wasn't seated even if I had a reservation because it was raining and half the place got flooded. It's Florida, 6 months of the year are considered hurricane season so how can they be so disorganized?
Waiting time was unknown because approximately 100 people were waiting before me. The hall was a completely packed and the floor wet. We had leave! Horrible
Beautiful place, horrible service and mediocre food. Both times I visited were a disappointment. There are many much better restaurants nearby.
Very pricey,$650 for 4 people, mushy veggies and lot’s of soy sauce on their food
We all had very dry mouth that day
