Many Thai entrees, Japanese sushi & sashimi in casual digs filled with Asian art & textiles.
I have been going to Spice for what feels like forever. My favorite thing to order is the yellow curry with chicken. The quality has always been good and the food is always piping hot. Their portions are generous, so you won't leave feeling like you paid a lot of money for a tiny amount of food. These days it seems like prices are going up and the quality of food is dropping, but, while the prices at Spice have gone up in recent years, the quality is still as good as ever. I highly recommend.
I've never had a bad experience here! Food is always consistently delicious. Never have to wait for a seat. I'm not a sushi person so can't comment on that, but my favorite Thai dishes are always prepared as expected.
They had a party of seventeen today, who came after church. Then there arrived an additional party of 11! The 2nd party was able to be seated in the sunken dining area and there was still two available booths plus the other half of the sunken dining room. Clearly lunchtime after church may be their busiest time, so plan accordingly and reserve a space ahead of you intend to seat a larger party.
My only complaint: I asked for half sweetened / half unsweetened tea and it was extremely sweet. Also it seemed like the water used may have been unfiltered.
Best Pad Thai you will ever have. Try to go at least 1-2 times a month. Lunch specials cheaper than fast food, which is hilarious because of the quality.
First time customer! Service was okay but I did hear someone say they are understaffed. Personally I don’t mind if I can’t perfectly understand the waiter because they aren’t supposed to perfectly speak English. I’d say I had a decent experience. They didn’t take a long time to take orders. (I had a table of 6) They refilled our drinks multiple times.
They didn’t take long with wait times and kept making sure we had the correct orders. My friend and I enjoyed our scorpion roll. BUT
I did have a few tuff eel skin and a tiny piece tasted fishy. The veggie spring rolls were pretty good!
I might stop by again in the future!
Our friends took us here and, in the past, really enjoyed it. This time, not so much. The food was OK, but nothing to write home about. What really turned me off was the corking fee for our own bottle of wine. With a twist off cap, all they did was bring me a glass and without letting us know in advance charged us $15. If we had known that in advance, we would have left the wine home. Used to be a BYOB place wanted to attract more customers by letting you bring wine, because they had no booze license. These guys want to make booze money without the booze! Now they lost 4 customers.

I ordered $100 of food and we didn’t get any rice. Two of the entrees should have included it. Very disappointing.
My husband and I went here for dinner last night and it was phenomenal!! The food was A+++ same as the service! We both said to eachother "we found our restaurant!" We will be coming frequently!!
Always the best Thai food with great service. This is my go to thai spot, and I've been to many.
The food and menu here has improved over the years. Everything just seems a bit less restrained. The lards are good as is the curries and noodle dishes. Great service as of late too.
I love its beauty and its thai food is wonderful!
The food was phenomenal. It reminded me of my favorite place that's in Brandon, which is why I definitely gave it 5 stars. I live in plant city, so having a good thai restaurant is important to me and this is my new favorite thai restaurant.

We were seated quickly. Our server was attentive. This is the place we choose most often when we want to have Thai food. They do a fantastic job with shrimp dishes. I got the shrimp with mixed vegetables and my husband got green curry shrimp. Generous size serving served piping hot and delicious!,

Always love the food! We order every Monday. I love spicy and my wife doesn't, but neither of us are ever disappointed.
Very nice and quiet evening, we ordered some sushi rolls and a miso soup. The sushi rolls were very nice and fresh, and the service was friendly. Their soups are piping hot so be careful. I wasn't and burned my tongue. My own fault though I was impatient lol. All in all a very good experience.

Was excited to try new place but we walk in and they have 1 large table who were finished eating and two other small tables. Walked by us repeatedly and didn’t even get our drink order. Waited nearly 15 minutes and we walked out. At least 2-3 waitresses but not even a glass of water. We were ready to eat.
Best Thai food in all of Lakeland hands down! Big portions, delicious food, fast service, nice ambience.
Always good food and good service
Food and service was very good. Would come back again.
IN REPLY TO OWNER RESPONSE BELOW:
I did not review the wrong restaurant, this was 100% the correct restaurant and you do serve Fried Shrimp sushi, fried white fish sushi which was what I was referring to.

Original review:
This has got to be one of the worst sushi’s I’ve ever tried. Ordered take out otherwise I would have rejected the order simply off of appearance alone.
We ordered a number of “special” rolls and I kid you not, you could not distinguish one from another even though all were different types of fish. They all tasted extremely bland and needed to be smothered in sauce to even be edible.
The fried proteins all tasted identical, whether it was shrimp or whitefish.
The edamame had no seasoning, not even salt.
I would rather eat sushi purchased at Publix & edamame purchased in the freezer section.
Would rate .01/5 if possible.
I loved the food٫ it was delicious. They handled our big order very well and were very nice.
Food is fantastic!
The one waitress with glasses rude
Great food and fast service, my favorite lunch spot!
Went there to celebrate Father's Day. Great food. I ordered sushi and tom kha soup. The sushi felt very fresh and the soup was very flavorful. Our server was very nice (I think I read Daniel on the receipt). I also like that the gratuities were accounted for in the final amount (although I'm not a fan of the tipping culture - would rather servers were paid fairly without disguised hidden fees put on us customers). Would go there again.
The food was pretty tasty. Around lunch time they seem to get a little impatient and want to move you out quickly. But it's a nice place to eat had a great price
Great food, great service, and great price! Will definitely be back next time I am local.
I love this place. It’s the best Thai around and always gluten free and easy to eat at for celiacs!
This place is amazing. Didn’t seat in but nice vibe, laid-back atmosphere, nice funny people that work here. The food ……. IS OFF THE HOOK! Very great cooks! I recommend this place will be eating here more often. Post a picture next time. Can’t recommend anything yet only ate here once so far.
Complete garbage. Please don't waste your time and money. Trash.
The best Thai food, service and prices in Polk county. Highly recommend. Great vegan food, too.
As always food, service, atmosphere structure.
Food:
We started with the carpaccio. Compared to a classic carpaccio I didn't enjoy it and would rate it slightly below average. I expect carpaccio to be sliced very thinly. This was not that. The fish was sliced too thick for it to be close to a carpaccio and the flavors also weren't close. This was more sweet and with heat, than the vinegar and meaty flavors the carpaccio would normally have.
We ordered three rolls. Each was good. The 4 star rating is room for improvement. The rolls didn't stay together very well when eating them. This is probably due to the haste with which they were assembled. I cover that in service. Overall the sushi was good and I would try it again.
Service:
Not great service. Hate to give small restaurants these types of reviews but they have to step up and know the truth. They say they were busy but there were open tables. Obviously that doesn't mean they aren't busy but if that's the reason for out of order food, being served after other guests arrive, and critical mistakes, then they have areas to improve on.
Our server was either new or had problems with English. That's ok. Both are understandable and wouldn't generally be a sore spot. They just need more training and time at it. Our server didn't know the brand of water they carried despite there only being one they offered. Our appetizer came took almost 20 minutes. Good thing we enjoyed each other's company. Next our order came out with sesame seeds. We were very clear that no sesame seeds bc of an allergy. The whole plate came covered in them, I'm not exaggerating. Hence the haste I mentioned in the food review that may have caused the rolls not to hold together very well. They had to remake the whole order. So our order was 20 minutes for an appetizer, and 30 for our food. No manager approached us to discuss the situation. Not acceptable and that's why the low rating for service. Plenty of opportunity for improvement there.
Atmosphere:
Nothing special. Average. What took away? The entryway is not well managed. They could make a few arrangement modifications and it wouldn't be so difficult to maneuver. It only takes a couple people and no one can move. They could rotate the area so that it was turned 90 degrees and eliminate one table for a guest area. This could alleviate the major traffic jam in the entryway. You have to get close to people to get through. Think NYC subway close. There's nothing that makes the place bad regarding atmosphere, but there's nothing that makes it good either. So I gave it an average review.
Overall, I will try their food and establishment again bc I never go off of just one visit (unless it is just flat out horrible) and the food was definitely good. They have some improvements to make but I wouldn't let that stop me from giving them another chance.
It was such great food and speedy and polite service.
The server was nice, but food was not authentic, Thai, or even close. The food was very bland. This will be my first and last. I did speak to the server and asked for pad Bai kaprow and if it does come with thai basil. I asked for it to be as authentic as possible but the result was not even close. No thai basil was even in the food and the chicken was in large pieces instead of the minced version. Nothing against the owner but I don't think the server really understood what I asked for.
HORRIBLE!
No concern from the owner, they just blame the customer and keep the money for bad service and food.
Cold food,
No chicken,
No utensils,
No napkins.
HORRIBLE!
Really great sushi and Thai food. Be sure to check out their lunch specials!!
Nothing outstanding. A bit pricey. I don't go out to eat for appetizer "box". Everything else was not worth it.
First time going with my bf, and the food was great. The Thai tea was yummy... The only thing was the light fixtures above our booth were dusty...
But really chill environment. I'd go back.
great food and amazing service! excited to try more from the menu
Best Thai Food in Town by far. Price quality unbeatable. If you want real Thai this is the place to be ! อร่อย
The most delicious meal in my life
It was worth the wait everything was exquisite I loved it we will return to the menu more my daughter loves your food thank you for cooking for us!!!!
We were here the other night and the service was terrible. Server couldn't speak English, the dining room was hot and our food took well over an hour to arrive. We were stuck with the full bill, was not compensated for ANY of our delayed order, and received no apologies. Will NOT be back. Terrible.
A dumpster fire experience. Waited to be seated, waited after being seated, and waited well over an hour for some sushi rolls in a less than packed dining room. Sushi chef and his side hand worked slow and apathetically, as tables waited and waited. Only one worker, a server from another table, could speak fluid English and nobody apologized or comped any of our $100 order. It was overly warm and I have never waited so long for five rolls. It was a sad scene and one that will not hold up in this competitive Asian restaurant market.
** ANCILARRY ADDITION FOLLOWNG OWNER'S RESPONSE:
1. Yes, it WAS over an hour. You were not there. It was not 40 minutes.
2. No, were were NOT told it would be along wait for our sushi.
3. We know another couple who were also there same time we were. They reached out to me about how bad their experience was too.
4. Excuses don't make your business look better. Yes, you should add staff. No, you should not excuse horrid service. Apologize and make it right. You did not make anything right.
Food is always good but the last few visits our server had issues. Only two other tables seated. Mistakes with simple order, no drink refills, had to ask for take out containers and check, didn’t leave a pen to sign credit card slips. This was not a new server, as we’ve had him before last year. So bottom line, great food but don’t eat here if you’re in a hurry even if they are not busy.
Great food and service.
I recommend this place with altuntic thai style + Japanese sushi in one the name of food is bento u get salad and sushi with ur entree and one orange.saver with soup and spill roll .on lunch only .amazing price Wow delicious.
I had lunch at this restaurant and ordered the lunch special, which was supposed to include a soup and a spring roll. However, I received two spring rolls instead. When I inquired about the soup, the staff informed me it wasn't included. Additionally, I was charged $15.50 for the meal, even though the menu indicated a price of $12.95. This discrepancy in pricing and the missing soup left me somewhat disappointed with my experience.
Pleasant and timely service. Easy parking, clean restaurant. Food was good, large portions, served extremely hot. Not as flavorful as I was anticipating as compared to other Thai dishes at other locations, but overall a good experience.
Just amazing food and service!
Stopped in for lunch Saturday and it was not busy at all. The food was meh..The lunch sweet and sour with chicken was very sweet and they drowned it in the sauce. I was feeling it the whole day. It was not good. Because the place was not busy the servers stand in group and just stare(that was awkward).
The food is 9/10 on any given day. Lunch specials are good price with a lot of variety. Customer service could be better although they might be understaffed cat the time of this review. Overall a great place to enjoy tasty food and have good company.
The Bento Box is so good. We have been coming for years
I've ordered order took long time, they don't put utensils, soy sauce, terrible experience
Absolutely delicious every time. Definitely recommend the curry!
Very good food excellent service clean and cute inside
We went the other night for dinner it so good, I got the red curry chicken and my boyfriend got the red curry beef . Both were delicious 😋. We also got 2 sushi 🍣 rolls, the California and the Mexican both great as well. We love this place, and always, fresh service always good!
Always good food! I bring my family here everything they come to town.
Always amazing food. Never disappointed
Fast and great sushi excellent service. Definitely will be returning.
I have been to Spice numerous times, and have NEVER been disappointed. Does not matter what I order.
I had really good sushi here last time I was in town. They do takeout as well. I will definitely return in the future.
Fresh, good quality. Nice service.
Good food and service
Food, Staff and Service is excellent! Great Atmosphere and extremely clean!
I had Pad Thai w/chicken medium hot and it was delicious. First time visit and I will be back!
The salmon and duck with panang curry is delicious 🥹 👌
Love this place. Food is delicious 😋
Bussin!
Love their food but communication is poor.
Great service and excellent staff.
I gave 3 stars because, while I love the Thai curries, the restaurant environment is extremely uncomfortable. After one dine in experience, I only order to go now and miss out on opportunity for desserts or drinks. I would love, love, love to see your spot updated and become more appealing to the passerby. Please apply to Restaurant Impossible. I know this may sound daunting, but they do not take customer referrals and Spice Thai & Sushi could use a little pep from Robert Irvine's knowledge.
Sushi was awful. Looked like a 5 year old rolled it. Wet/guey rice. Hardly any fish. Falling apart. Not good flavor. Used to like this place in the past. Probably not returning.
I have a nasty reaction to mushrooms. I wanted a vegetarian noodle so I ordered but asked if their vegetables came with mushroom. His response was "I don't know". So I said no mushroom. There were none that I could find. Because they picked them out AFTER cooking them in. Asian food doesn't taste good coming up. Very irresponsible of them to do that. What other lazy things are they doing? Never again
First time customer! Service was okay but I did hear someone say they are understaffed. Personally I don’t mind if I can’t perfectly understand the waiter because they aren’t supposed to perfectly speak English. I’d say I had a decent experience. I did have a few tuff eel skin and a tiny piece tasted fishy. The veggie spring rolls were pretty good!
I might stop by again in the future!
I eat here twice a week. The Thai meals as well as the sushi are excellent. The service staff is very friendly and engaging.
Good taste and service. Well Priced Menu!
I went to place a takeout order of Vegetable Pad Thai. The person who took the order was very rude, not helpful at all. I felt unwelcome there. When I took the vegetable pad Thai home there was not a single piece of vegetable in there. very disappointed with this business.
We had 2 of the lunch specials. Both entrees were very good, but accompanying soup and spring roll only fair.
Great place. We were at Steinmarts, wanted something nearby. Car GPS has old address. While heading to another place we saw it. Thank you, Lord, you always look out for us.The greatt menu had PAD Thai. Delicious. Green curry with chicken. Great flavor. Thai springroll order had orchid garnish. Good prices. Very good service, a friend of family. Wonderful experience for a city girl now living in a little town without such great places. City girl takes Orchid home.
Malísimo los sushi más horrible que eh comido sin sabor jamás vuelvo
Update Jan 21, 2023: I understand you need a new sushi chef, but you need to stop serving sushi until you get one. Someone is going to get very sick with what is going on here right now. For one the sushi was warm. Second it was not fresh, all of my $70 worth of items had a bad smell and tasted bad. This is raw fish and whoever is making your sushi does not know how to handle raw seafood or detect when it's spoiling. I would like a refund for this order, I was a loyal customer for many years.

I am very critical about restaurants that I will even just buy take out from, let alone sit down in. That said if you cover the basics and have good food I am easy to please in that regard. I found nothing lacking about this restaurant in terms of quality. The staff treats you very well, and the setting is comfortable. The sushi is very good, even if the menu is somewhat limited as far as specialty rolls. The spicy chicken wings are so good even Gordan Ramsey would rave about them. Try them extra crispy, you will not be disappointed! The chicken satay isn't the best I've ever had, but it's up there on the top 10 list. They didn't have all of the wines or saki on their menu in stock, but it was a weekend night, so it's understandable. A lot of people eat there. The service could have been a little more frequent in the beginning, but again it was very busy, and they did much better about halfway through our meal to the time we left. All in all we will be coming back to this restraint many times in the future. This time we will probably order 2 or 3 orders of those chicken wings.
My Husband went in to order 4 soups, the pot, they are not very big and they told him he could only get 3 , because he didn't call in he's order what Difference does it make. If I'm giving you business what difference does it make.
Excellent selection of menu items. Flavors very good. Love the miso soup
Was going to Fancy Q's but they were closed,So I stopped At this place. Volcano roll. It sucked. The chicken roll and shrimp roll was horrible as well. I spent $30.Then they wanted me to pay for eel sauce And spicy mayo. And that was nasty. Very small portions for the price. I'm not ever going back here
Always great!!
I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT WHDHWHWHDHSS 🫶🏼🫶🏼 my family and i come here once in a while and their food is rlly rlly good!! the pho, the sushi, everything is SCRUMPTIOUS. its good for kids that rlly like chicken, too. they got chicken tenders in their kids meals and they YUUUMMMMM. def recommend going for dinner 💗
We love their food and have been eating here for years, dine in or take out is a pleasure.
Food was absolutely amazing!! Everything was beyond delicious and tasted impossibly fresh.. only downside was the wait staff seemed a bit unorganized and lost at times.(sign outside said they were hiring) My ol lady had the Sexy Lady roll & I had the Two Friends.. she’s bougie & LOVED IT & I’m a lil ghetto so I was happy my plate was bussin!! But they forgot to put in her Mango Mania sushi roll so that was late.. but turned out it was sooo good it was worth the wait & she didn’t complain. Thai Donuts & Thai Tea were exquisite!! Take it from a vato married to Karen.. this was AWESOME!!
We were three couples. All of us enjoyed our dinner. One couple is vegan and said their sushi was excellent.
Decided to try while working in the area. Reviews brought us in. Nice, clean, small restaurant. Service was excellent. Pad Thai was the best I've had. Loved the soup/spring roll brought out first. Flavor of food was really good. Will go back again and would recommend to anyone.
Ok thi
Amazing quality food
Great food - Great service. One of my favorite places to go for lunch!
Small Thai restaurant that we picked at random really. Off the main road, but go slow for the sharp turn in to the parking lot. The night we went seemed off, appears that there was no host/hostess to ask party number or to seat you, so a waiter just said to sit anywhere. Once inside, the menu has plenty of options to choose from. We actually ordered quite a bit. Everything that came out was fresh and piping hot. The tempura and fried tofu was perfect, lightly battered and tasty. Our entrees we're all delicious and had great flavor. You might need a to-go box because the portions are pretty decent. We had a couple noodle dishes, a hot pot, and several appetizers. Overall, we had a pleasant meal, food was tasty, the wait staff was accommodating, and price was on par. I docked a star because I felt like the noodle dishes could've used a bit more vegetables and scallions than just the protein and noodles themselves. Just being nitpicky from having these dishes at other Thai places. So with that, yeah, Spice turned out to be enjoyable, worth coming back.
Worst experience I have ever had. The raw sushi was warm up one being served. One person at table received all of their food while others had to wait over ten minutes for the rest to arrive. There was no sense of urgency or genuine customer service.
Great food service is pretty good too prices are affordable especially for the lunch menu if you get there b4 3pm
The crab rangoon appetizer was amazing, made with real crab. My drunken noodles were super spicy and delicious as well!
The food its good and the prices affordable. i buy lunch and have plenty leftover to brings home and share with my family
Delicious food and great service. Thank you Spice Thai!!
Its good, staff is nice. Good portions and quality, fair pricing. My second time there and its been consistent. Thank you!
We love this place. The service and sushi is always great! We recently tried their fried rice which was outstanding. Highly recommend this place to anyone.
Not what it used to be...
The smell was odd when entering, but we sat anyway. The staff was ok, not very attentive, but we did receive what we ordered. I had to wait for a refill on my drink (after trying several times to wave him down), and even at the end, they could almost care less about getting your rung up. I only went there because our typical Thai was closed. I probably won’t be back unless things change; sad cause it used to be fantastic.
I ordered to go so I'm sure service was not the same as dine in. I sat at the counter and waited for my order. The environment was cozy. I ordered Bento box 1 (pad thai) & 4 (cashew chicken) the Pad Thai was delicious and I was told by my friend that the cashew chicken was as well. I look forward to trying more!
Good for the price.
This is the worst I ever had. Sorry guys
Frankly I had very low expectations on this combo Thai/Japanese restaurant. After all we are in FL and it is not known for its quality Asian restaurants. I was surprised that they did it right. Not 100% authentic but I am sure this is just to satisfy the American taste buds.
Bueeeeenaso.....
Great service. Great food.
Worst disaster. Server lady was just fast. She gave us the check before we can even order further. Sushi is okay. Red curry was very sweet. The rice noodles do not taste great with their sauces. My third time and no luck with their food. I would not give them another chance.
Excellent food and they will not break your wallet. I have been eating at Spice since they were down the road at the other location and I have never had anything unacceptable.
2022: Still good food. Dec 2018: at least five meals from here, still great. Now 5 stars.
Nice people but horrible food. I would not recommend
Great place to eat at. Not very large but I'm happy they take COVID serious as well. All employees wear a mask and they have hand sanitizer on each table.
There food is amazing. We love their chicken fried rice, bento box, and chicken pad Thai. You also have to try the Thai iced tea.
One thing to the owner. Expand your outdoor deck and put shade and a large water fall or something to block south Florida Ave and offer lots of outdoor seating. That would be very nice and expand your seating. Pre COVID, lunch time was always too busy to get a table.
Highly recommend this place though.
This place is hopping. Full restaurant, to go orders for days. Our food came in a timely manner with excellent service. Excellent food. Will be back again soon!
I thought the food was very good! I don't know why people are complaining. Went for lunch, had sushi . The only thing I would have changed was my octopus salad... I've never had it warm before... I've always had it chilled. A bit chewy, but it is octopus. The fried ice cream was... well, AWESOME! I'd never give this restaurant a bad review because there was a take out order problem, which seems to be everyone's contention.... namely when they may have made a mistake ONCE. People usually are rude when people are rude FIRST. Everyone simmer down, be patient ... you're patronage means more to save us, than harsh criticism. Be kind, tip appropriately- meaning, be thankful someone is willing to serve you decently.
Food was a huge disapointment. Would give no stars at all if it was for the food alone but they deserve at least a one star for the great customer service and friendly staff. The astmosphere was nice but the food was an awful first impression for my first time trying Thai food. The food had no flavor and no spice. Aside from the food being bland the food was room temperature. The curry sauce was more like curry broth. Asked to make it as spicy as possible and came out tasting sugary instead. Food left a bad aftertaste in my mouth. The name of restauraunt is very misleading. Should have named it "Thai Bland" instead.
Customer service was perfect! Thats why I gave this place two stars. But the food was not worth the price, coconut shrimp was over cooked, dry and with the shrimp not cleaned out, with the tail ends still attached. My husband ordered roasted duck with red curry sauce, he wanted the dish spicy as possible and it didnt much kick to it at all. Very disappointing. I ordered a sea food mix noodles. It was very bland and lacked flavor. Only had 3 shrimps with the tail ends still attached on, so have to make sure not to choke on them. The sea food mix noodles didnt have much sea food, only a few soggy scallops, mussels and no squid. The food here is either over cooked, under cooked and bland as hell. Not authentic Thai Food.
This will be my last time ordering from here! Never had an issue before but I guess they now have new staff. I called in and ordered my usual basil rice with chicken and shrimp. When I got there, I noticed the receipt showed only chicken so I made sure to say hi I'm here to pick up my order and recited it to her. She looked at the receipt and asked me to confirm the shrimp, which I did. Well at that point she took my order to the bar to look inside and the waitress I spoke to over the phone came over to see what was wrong. When the lady told her, the waitress leaned over and whispered, "She never told me she wanted shrimp". I don't know if she wanted me to hear but I did and that is so unprofessional and rude.
I never complained about the order being incorrect, just confirmed what it should've been. After the lady took my food into the kitchen to correct it, the waitress then came over and said, "sorry I didn't hear you ask for shrimp". Like seriously?! I heard you just a minute ago say that I never asked for it. Wow!! Staff needs hospitality training!
Fresh & consistant & Clean
Good taste and good Interiors
Love the red curry and my daughter loves the soup...
Superb as always.
Excellent food and great service!
Great pad Thai, red curry seafood, crunch rolls. Clean and fast
It hurts me to say Because the food is good but i went to order take out and the guy who takes the order at the door was rude and spoke to me as if i were stupid when in reality he didnt understand what i was saying... i just ordered pra ram chx only broccoli and he put pra ram with only broccoli...pra ram comes with choice of meat..its gone down hill customer service wise
