TipThai Thai Cuisine, opening its doors on July 4th, 2024, brings authentic Thai flavors to the heart of Washington D.C. at 641 Indiana Ave NW. Experience the vibrant taste of Thailand in a welcoming new restaurant.
An ambient authentic Thai restaurant.
This was my first time dining here, the meal was pleasant but the dessert was amazing! I loved the mango sticky rice! It was so flavorful. The mangoes were amazing!
We ordered the Eggplant tofu curry, it came with rice, it was enough for two people and we weren’t that hungry either. The curry was good, loved the taste!
They do have restroom but it’s not for public use, it’s only for customers.
“Don’t go without the mango sticky rice, I would say!”
Wow. What a GREAT Thai experience! Arguably, some of the BEST Thai food and service we have ever had!
The sauces and salad dressing are worthy of conversation. The portions and price were very reasonable. The ingredients were all fresh, the presentation was great, and the flavors were excellent. 👍🏼
We feel lucky we found this place! We will definitely be back! 👍🏼👍
In what appears to be a very competitive food city we can definitely recommend this place for a nice casual dining experience. You will be glad you did. 😁👍🏼
Amazing Thai food and even better service! Every dish was packed with authentic flavors, especially the Panang Curry and Veggie Drunken noodles.
Ann, our server, was incredibly attentive and made great recommendations. Highly recommend this spot for both the food and the warm hospitality!
Best ever Thai food I’ve ever had in the USA!
The owners and all the staffs are very welcoming.
I had Papaya Salad, it came with fresh and juicy shrimps, spicy, sweet and sour taste make it a perfect appetizer. I especially appreciate it as I don’t have much appetite in a winter night where you need more energy uptake to combat the weather.
For entree, I had Crispy Duck Kaprow. After half hour in the wind it gets cold and a bit oily but still very delicious. It would be even better when dine in.
Great place for Thai food cravings. The atmosphere was great, the staffs provided excellent service & attention. The most important part is the food … so delicious.
I ordered Somtam (spicy papaya salad), Fried tofu, Khanom Chine Namya, Chinese kale with crispy pork, Stir-fried crispy duck with basil. All of them had authentic taste and fulfill my Thai food cravings !!!
I stopped by here on the way back from the National Mall. The staff seemed busy when I arrived as it took some time before getting seated
The drunken noodles were mildly spicy and it took a while before the staff refilled my water, so I ended up finishing the dish. Otherwise, the staff were all nice
Went here on a date as she had never had Thai food before so I wanted to show her what it was like. We got in and the waiter was so incredibly nice to both of us and made us feel very welcomed. We got crab Rangoon to start and I got pad prik king with chicken while my date had pork pad Thai. All of it was amazingly cooked, portion sizes were perfect, and it tasted otherworldly. Yet somehow, the best part was the service. Our waiter was very diligent on refilling our waters, checking to make sure everything was ok, and made it a point to not interrupt the two of us. Despite the bill only being around $40, I felt that a $15 tip was more than deserved as it was incredible service, and I will absolutely be back here again. Only 5 stars because Google doesn’t let me give anything higher!
Crispy Duck Basil is excellent. I have so many recommendations.
The place and service are very pleased
I realize it is a tough economy and a tough time to be consistenr. I realize that disability and mental illness are an issue. However, the service was courteous and friendly, the food I ordered appeared murky and had a rancid ingredient and the ambiance was cluttered and dated.

Fried rice was amazing, one of the best fried rice I had in the recent time.
Good service.

Love there drunken noodle
This is my new favorite Thai place in DC. Will be back!
Absolutely delicious! Best curry I’ve ever had out of Thailand! Plenty of vegan options
Really loved the food here! We love eating Thai food and everything we tried from Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, and all were wonderful. We'll be back again!
what an authentic and delicious Thai taste!
As good Thai food as any I've had in the DMV, with friendly service, solid portions and extremely reasonable prices for the area. Definitely making this my go-to for future visits to the mall!
Tourists who search Thai food in DC may end up with a disappointment despite their almost 5 stars. On the contrary, TipThai stands out as an authentic Thai street food with quality and savor that brought me back to when I was raised up in Bangkok. Having tried different Thai restaurants in more than 5 states, I can guarantee that you will be impressed with the food, the service, and the price ranges that are hard to be beaten in DC!
Food is outstanding, busy little restaurant.cooking in the way I like, not too much oil. Crispy pork basil is delicious. Mango sticky rice you can’t miss.

Stopped in to grab a bite before the concert.
Between us we ordered:
📍 Summer Rolls
📍 Crab Rangoon
📍 Pad Ginger
The summer rolls had a lot of sprigs of cilantro which overpowered it a bit and we like cilantro. The Crab Rangoon was perfect and the Pad Ginger was a little sweeter than I'm used to but very tasty.
The service was great and very quick. Cute little restaurant.
Went there as a first date and it went excellent, food came out fast and was delicious, I got the drunken noodles and they had the perfect mix of spicy and sweet.
Best Thai in DC area. Strongly recommend
Great food and staff!!
This place serves the best Thai food that I have tried all of the country so far. Had really nice curry and noodles. Food is well seasoned and prepared. Compliments to the chef.
However their service is bad. Server is rude and does not even provide a check for cross checking before paying. Also have the cheek to ask for a minimum of 15% tip when their service is bad. Really speechless. Should really work on their service.
Was pretty hungry as we left the National Museum of Art and found this place on google maps searching for quick nearby. The food was incredible and my favorite I had in DC after eating at “fancy” restaurants all weekend. Will definitely be back next time I’m in DC!
Soup was good but absolutely ridiculous quantity. Doesn’t worth $9 I think.
Great pad thai, tofu was perfect.
Food was excellent and the space is really pretty! Great place for vegans. There aren't specifically vegan items but many menu items can be made vegan, just ask your server, ours was very knowledgeable and quick to check with the chef to make sure a dish could be made vegan. We had a great time and will definitely be back!
Can’t wait to go back!
We enjoyed appetizers, entrees, and dessert all vegan. And none compromised on flavor unlike a lot of places that hold non vegan ingredients.
My carnivorous family members also enjoyed their meals… we had a blast!
Service was great and the location is right at a metro stop across the street. A must if you’re wanting an authentic thai meal in the city.
This restaurant handed the wrong order to the door dash driver and I was left without my food. They kept trying to pin the blame on the door dasher as well when it was their fault. I will NEVER order food from this location again. And it’s a shame because I like their food. Sad excuse for customer service.
Food was greasy and a bit overpriced. It wasn't bad, but nothing special at all, just typical Thai. The ambiance was not good; the restaurant was somewhat messy and there were TVs on.
It smelled weird when we first walked in, service was okay, food was mediocre.
They charged us 20% dime in fee which I’ve never heard of, I wasn’t aware of this until after I’ve paid.
I had a great experience at this restaurant. The food came out quickly, but was clearly prepared to order. Each dish had authentic flavors and the portions were generous for the prices. I highly recommend TipThai if you are looking for delicious Thai food in a great location!

Drunken noodles are actually as spicy as in Thailand and taste very good.
The foods are good! The waitress who helped us order was also friendly and helpful.
However, deducted 2 stars for 2 reasons.
1. My dishes were taken away while I still wanted to finish the rest and had to handle something on my phone. I hope the lady who took my dishes had asked me before taking away my dishes.
2. We didn’t know that they already included 18% dine in credits and paid more tips than expected. It would be nice to highlight the included tips.
Best thai food I have had in DC. Foodgasm guaranteed food. The food service was extra-ordinary, the staff was very friendly and swift. Food was heavenly. Must try- Kaprow over rice, pad eggplant and red curry ❤️
Great place for Thai food cravings. The atmosphere was great, the staffs provided excellent service & attention. The most important part is the food … so delicious.

บริการดีมากๆคะ อาหารอร่อยเหมือนทานที่ไทย ราคาไม่แรงมาก ถ้าได้กลับมาเที่ยวอีกจะมาทานอีกครั้งแน่นอน
The Gang Om is authentic! Rich, silky, savory broth is totally righteous! My Mom had the Red Coconut Curry and said it was excellent down to the last drop!
Chill small DC joint. Laid back for work. Tight space. I wouldn't bring more than 3 other people. Definitely somewhere to get Thai regularly if you're in the neighborhood!
The food was good. The service was awesome. Then time to pay the check. I usually tip in cash and before I could get out the cash the server asked if there was a problem with her service because I put no tip on the card. Well... there went the tip. Nothing wrong with the service until then.
With the keyword “large party" they charged us an extra $16 when there were only five of us.
I ordered pad thai and drunken noodles for take out from here. The entrees lacked flavor and left a bad aftertaste. Do not recommend. The employee also handed over my order and utensils with wet hands.
Such a great spot in the middle of DC! Affordable compared to the rest of the town, and excellent service on top of amazing authentic Thai cuisine. Looks and feels like a family owned business. 10/10 I would come back again on every trip to the capital city.
Amazing thai food in the center of DC. The service was so incredibly fast, like 10 minutes for our curry and pad thai! Everything was very flavorful and definitely reminded me of the food I tasted in Thailand.
We went twice during our trip and tasted 4 different dishes, green and Panang curry, pad Thai and soy sauce noodle dish that I forgot the name off. Portions were sufficient and complimentary water was offered.
Service was a bit cold during our first visit but it was amazing on our second. Prices were average for US I’d say.
Highly recommend!
Amazing Thai food and even better service! Every dish was packed with authentic flavors, especially the Panang Curry and Veggie Drunken noodles.
Ann, our server, was incredibly attentive and made great recommendations. Highly recommend this spot for both the food and the warm hospitality!
Really good thai food!!
Authentic flavor, indistinguishable from some of the best restaurants in Thailand.
Service was very good too!
Terrific food! Very reasonable prices. Excellent service. Very casual. No ambience. Some outside tables.
The best spicy chicken fried rice I’ve had from an authentic Thai restaurant.
Great food! Good ambiance. The chicken panang curry was fantastic!
Dropped by for lunch. The food is solid. Had all the flavors you’d expect from Thai cuisine. The staff was also very sweet and attentive.
Absolutely loved their food!
Papaya salad with raw mango was fantastic. Well balanced dish but it had too much fish sauce for my taste. Larb Gai was also top tier.
From the entree, I loved the Drunken noodles with spaghetti noodles and Beef Pad See Ew. First time trying Pad See Ew and the noddles are thick and wide. Really enjoyed the texture. The star though was their Thai Red Curry. Probably the best Thai red curry I have had.
If you can take the heat, I would recommend going medium on the entree with the fresh salads on the side to balance it out. Cheers!
As a Filipino, this is great and amazing Asian food! The atmosphere is nice. Prices are reasonable. We order the Crispy Chicken and Crispy Pork and Brocoli and it came out perfectly. The pork had it seasoning and was still crispy. The chicken as well. Would highly recommend this over any Asian restaurant in Chinatown!
If you’re looking for great Thai food, look no further. It’s definitely a no frills kind of restaurant for the dining experience, but you will not be disappointed by the quality of the food. I will definitely be a repeat customer.
At first, my group of 4 were put off by the paper cups, plates, and plastic utensils. However, we proceeded to be completely blown away by the most amazing, flavorful, fresh Thai food we've had in DC so far. The spring rolls were fresh, hot, and made perfectly. We ordered Drunken Noodles (beef and chicken), Pad Thai, and Pork skewers. Everything was DELICIOUS! The service was warm and timely. We will be back and we will be recommending this restaurant to all of our friends!
Amazing food, very friendly service
Super delicious restaurant! Incredible flavors, kind and friendly service, and warm and welcoming atmosphere! We started with the summer rolls which were so fresh and delicious (a consistent theme). Our entrees came out quickly and we cleaned the plates soon after! 100% will return to this new neighborhood gem.
Wandered off the national mall and stumbled across this place. Fresh and AUTHENTIC Thai food.
I ordered chicken fried rice and chicken pad Thai (delivery). The fried rice has a lot of eggshell inside. I had 3 spoons and got a piece in each. Cannot eat more. Then the pad Thai it was supposed to be chicken but has a horrible reddish ingredient that I don’t know what it is but it is all over and ruined it. I hate seafood and this def tastes like it.
Also I asked for silverware and condiments and didn’t get any sauce, common I was expecting at least soy sauce
I ordered Spring Rolls and Panang Curry with Tofu and both of them were ok. Spring rolls were undercooked and panang curry lacked flavor. Overall a disappointing meal for the price I paid.
อาหารอร่อยมากค่ะ พี่พนักงานใจดี บริการเป็นกันเองมากเลยค่ะ ไว้จะมาทานบ่อยๆค่า
Very good taste Mango Sticky Rice!
Delicious Thai dishes, and friendly services. A great new spot in DC, conveniently located near a metro station. Highly recommended the duck curry and crispy basil pork belly.
I had an amazing dining experience here. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was outstanding. The food was fresh and full of flavor. I highly recommend the Kanom Jeen Nam Ya Pu (Thai Southern-style vermicelli rice noodles with spicy crab curry), it was absolutely delicious! This restaurant is a must-visit, and I’ll definitely be coming back!
Ate there for lunch today - the best steak and papaya salad I have had in the US. Very authentic in terms of flavor and freshness of ingredients. Also reasonable priced and good service.
Great Thai food at very good prices for D.C. and the service was very attentive. No beer or wine served. Paper plates and plastic silverware which was strange but I guess it helps keep prices down. Tables VERY CLOSE together because it is a small eatery.
Authentic Thai ingredients which tasted super yummy, lovely staff, very accommodating to our needs. Wheelchair accessible. Thank you so much ☺️
Best Thai food I’ve had in a very long time, definitely coming back.
It’s so delicious and yummy u should try this in your life 🤩🤩
Very delicious all menu
It's so good!!
All around good time. Thank you for being nice.
Good authentic Thai food. We had a group of 4 and all of our dishes were very tasty/authentic. Loved my Panang curry! Service was good. Apps (spring rolls and curry puffs) just okay. The Thai iced tea wasn’t very good. The cream overpowered the taste.
I didn’t love the atmosphere. I probably wouldn’t eat here again and would rather choose the option for pickup. Almost all of our food came on paper plates with plastic utensils. Probably not a good place for a group larger than 4. I’ve seen some people mention a smell and I’d agree with them. I can’t put my finger on what it is, but it’s slightly off putting.
Food: 4.5
Service: 4
Overall Vibe: 3
Would I recommend or eat here again? Would recommend. Pickup instead of dine-in. Or maybe better suited for lunch. Would I dine here again? Probably not. There are so many other Thai places in DC that I’d prefer to continue exploring.
Classic pad Thai was tasty as always and the summer rolls were nice and fresh. I braved the Thai papaya salad and for those looking for some good thai street food/local food, this was a good dish to try, especially for spice lovers 👍
We all were vegetarian ordered Papaya salad, green and red curries, phad eggplant. Papaya salad has strong shrimp smell and curries had very few vegetables and plenty of tofu. Looks like eating tofu only. We had a great disappointment with quality of food.
Mango sticky rice was amazing!
Great food great service great prices!
The food was very delicious, owner is friendly.
Excellent Authentic Thai Food
Thai tea was excellent.
A great place to pop in and get something to eat. Great food, great people, great service. The owner is very nice and the food is to die for.
Excellent. Authentic. Soooo Good!!!
The Gang Om is really good. Green bean salad is a well-rounded flavor. Ohh the coffee is so good, not too sweet.
stopped by here to pick up some food for dinner. ordered chicken pad thai, chicken red curry, and summer rolls. pad thai and curry were amazing, however I was really confused and disappointed to see that the summer rolls had no shrimp or meat of any kind.. I've never had summer rolls that were made of only vegetables. summer rolls are overpriced for what they are. customers should definitely be given an option to add in meat for the summer rolls
I stopped by this place on my lunch break with my friends and we were thoroughly impressed. We ordered several dishes, and the crispy duck basil was outstanding—so flavorful and delicious. The Tum Mua had an authentic taste that really stood out. The crab fried rice was also very good. I can’t wait to go back soon. Highly recommend! Best Thai food in the area.
We tried this new Thai restaurant recently. The food was authentic and delicious and the service was friendly and knowledgeable. We had dinner but it seems like a perfect downtown lunch destination.
Amazing delicious Thai food. We had the drunken noodle and the Tofu red curry. Highly recommend!
TipThai is truly a gem when it comes to Thai food. The Crab Fried Rice was very good, and the Drunken Noodle was absolutely delicious. The Tom Zabb was awesome and had just the right amount of spice. The atmosphere was good, and the joyful vibe added to the overall experience. I would definitely recommend trying out these dishes when you visit TipThai Thai Cuisine!
Recently opened, TipThai should be really crowded! The food came out very quickly, the staff were all exceedingly kind, and I even got two free dumplings. Great place to pick up food during lunch around the National Mall.
This place has certainly left a delightful impression on me. The food was very good, and the crispy Duck Kaprow was especially outstanding – truly an awesome dish! The Tum Mua (ตำมั่ว) was also incredibly flavourful, leaving a lasting impression. The atmosphere was good, creating a pleasant dining experience. Overall, I appreciated the wonderful flavors and the inviting ambiance at TipThai Thai Cuisine.
We recently had the pleasure of dining at TipThai Thai Cuisine, and I can't stop raving about the experience! The food was simply outstanding – I couldn't get enough of the incredibly flavorful Crab Fried Rice and the mouthwatering Pad Thai. It's safe to say that TipThai has set the standard for Thai cuisine in my book. Oh, and let's not forget about the drinks Thai Tea and Thai Coffee – it was good and complemented the meal perfectly. If you're a fan of Thai food, do yourself a favor and visit the place. You won't be disappointed!
