This place is a hidden gem in DC. My first time having it I ordered the basil fried rice for takeout and it was absolutely amazing. I went in yesterday to enjoy some time alone and it was even better in person. The drink selection is great and they taste as good (and as strong) as they look. The service was also amazing and it’s a nice quiet place to enjoy a book with tasty food and drinks on the weekends. The playlist is also a hit.
They have happy hour 3-9 M-F and all day on weekends and they also have a live DJ on Thursdays. I couldn’t recommend this place enough! I wanted to leave my review with an updated happy hour and food menu since there doesn’t seem to be any. If you’re in the area, give this spot a try.
lol I used to come here all the time last summer and I just love this spot and there selective drinks !! Not like the other ones I’ve went to they’re much better !!! Would recommend the spicy basil rice either way beef !! And there pop sticker thingys 🫶🏽🫶🏽♥️. 10/10 customer service is always great !
I am blown away. My family and I stopped in for the first time and we were pleasantly pleased. The service was amazing and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. The chicken wings were amazing and cooked perfectly. The crispy chicken special with rice and sauce was flavorful and delicious. Also they amazing server gave our daughter a strawberry housemade lemonade and it was amazing. We will be back! Support this authentic Thai restaurant and you won't be disappointed!!
Update 6/28: Still love this place! Can’t go wrong with the gluten free and vegetarian pad Thai with tofu or the gluten free chicken pineapple fried rice. Love the steamed veggies too!
We absolutely love their food! We always get carry out since we live so close, but their food is great! We always get the tofu with pad Thai, since it’s an amazing gluten free and vegetarian option, and the pineapple fried rice with chicken for my partner. He especially loves the cashews in it and it’s why Salads Thai has his favorite pineapple fried rice! We have not tried much else since we just love these both so much, other than the mixed veggies that are also really great as a gluten free(I always get veggies without sauces just to be safe) and vegetarian option. We look forward to the two or three times a month we order!!
I recently visited Sala Thai and was pleased to find that the food remains delicious, showcasing authentic Thai flavors that I love. However, I was disappointed to see that portion sizes have shrunk while prices have increased. It’s frustrating to leave still feeling hungry, especially when you’re paying more for less. Additionally, the Thai tea, which I was excited to order, came in a tiny 6-ounce cup for $4. While it was tasty, the price felt steep for such a small serving. Overall, while the food quality is still great, the changes in portions and pricing are concerning. I hope they reconsider these adjustments.
Be aware of the waitress when they take your credit card. They took my credit card to pay and after several time gave it back to me. Be careful!!! They take the information and buy online. I was victim, thank God my Bank was able to track it.

Burgers not good, onion rings taste sour.

My first time and I love it I will come back again 🥰💯
Love the staff, love the food, but the only part I didnt care for was the music that was playing with causeword and had a guste on the restaurant wifi speakers picking his music. I understand guest want to have fun but this is a business not your personal jukebox
We have ordered there before, stopped for some months because the food was not good, ordered two days ago, food was not good this time, called to let them know, no one answered the phone, called the next day nobody answered, left a message no one called back, today August 3rd some one finally answered. Mine you there's no place to park, you have to double park, therefore it takes two people to pick up an order. I manage to exchange the food I purchased and kept in my refrigerator for Two days ,makes no sense at all. The food was pad se ew. But this is my last time buying food there . Deuces, oh the message was never retrieved so I was told.

I ordered glass noodles (can’t remember the actual name) it was pretty salty, and I couldn’t eat it. I normally don’t send food back. At worst I’d take it home and recook to my preference but the lady next to me asked that I send it back so I did. They were supposed to make another and package it for me to go. Would you believe they basically just packed the same meal I returned? I work next to the restaurant and I promise I’d rather starve than go back there. I haven’t even talked about the horrible smell that hits you once you walk in or the fact that their calamari which comes with seafood is always chewy. The cherry on top is the black skinny bartender who wear glasses that works there. I don’t need to go into detail but if you ever have an issue with your order, best believe she’s the reason you’re not getting good service.
Clientele was a little loud when I last visited.
I love this place-- granted the surroundings are still growing in understanding diversity and merging cultures, but this place is a diamond in the ruff.
Fun happy hour. Good DJ. Cool crowd. Food is trash. Drinks are great.
Odered the salmon and fired ham rice, and the pineapple fired rice phone order was correct.
Arrived food was ready.
Will eat there again.
This restaurant is the worst Thai restaurant I have ever been to. The lady on phone was so rude to me. When I went to pick up my food, I asked her for the receipts of the food, and her response was if I was ok? That was so rude and so disrespectful for a customer service. And to top it up the food was so soggy, too much salt. No good customer service I will never 👎 go to this place again.
The atmosphere is welcoming. The team all know what they are doing. Drinks behind the bar came in adequate timing, and the food is tasteful as well as served quickly. I personally had Niq take care of me, and she is extremely efficient and on top of her game. I recommend going on the nights the Dj is present, he makes the evening all the more fun
Ordered veggie druken noodle and when I was eating. There was sand and shards in my food. Told the manager and he didn’t care or apologize. Never goin back ever again.
Food was amazing. Drinks were top-tier, cheap and massive sized. The customer service was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the entire menu. No complaints
If you’re placing Uber orders here and they’re taking longer than expected please understand a few things: 1) the staff is rude and don’t acknowledge us whatsoever., 2) the food is prepared slowly and based on what you look like it takes them longer to service us. I watched a women whose order was up stand and wait, she looked like me too. If your driver isn’t male or Caucasian then it will take much longer. Even the LGBTQ community has a better chance than me. Sorry, I tired for you guys!!!
I can't rate this restaurant. But overall it's always seem to have a good vibe... Plenty of people.. and packed with Black people having a good time.
Fried rice with chicken m, kapok chicken brown sauce and white rice. No sauce with fried rice. Approximately 15 lunch combos available with 2 small meatless spring rolls and drink. Parking hard to find. Will revisit.
Cute lil small bar, always good music and a DJ on Thursdays be lit. The food is really good and the drinks are strong (be careful) great happy hour spot for sure.
I love this place. Drinks food and atmosphere is great. That spicy basil rice mmmmmm. Minnesota ave surprise little treasure
Nice food and seating arrangements. Not too special but a good place to meet with friends.
I love coming here i always have a great time meeting new friends new hook ups great place to chill and relax some times the staff there are amazing 👏 🙌 ❤ 😊 ☺ 😀
I've been here twice and both times the food was good. This is a nice happy hour spot that's in the cut. I recommend the red shrimp curry!
I will be honest, this restaurant is not in the best location and if you are scared of people loitering in front of the restaurant then do not go, Let's talk about the food though...the food here is some of the best Thai food that I have ever had and I am a lover of Thai food. The food is consistently good and the portions are very generous. The service is good as well. I love the drinks, and some of the bartenders are especially skilled and will get creative if you ask for suggestions.
Terrible lace they tell you pay separately tips if you don't pay with credit card and their to high food was nasty
Tried to order a takeout order for 15. Could not order from the entire menu, just the rice items. I told them I would go elsewhere and they said
No problem
Ordered Tom Yum Soup Today, Feb 23rd around 12:30pm. It specifically said - NO MUSHROOMS and they added Mushrooms. When I called she said come back if you want a replacement. I said I requested for delivery for a reason, cz I cannot come there to pick it up. She said "if you don't come back with your order there is nothing I can do"
AVOID EATING HERE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES. They clearly do not care about your order specifications.
Delicious. Cozy. Great spot.
Great and I will be going tonight
The first time I went I had hair in my food. So they remade my food. The platter didn’t have any Thai spices or so forth. The noodles were literally just boiled. I ordered the Pad Thai. So I don’t think this place is for me at this point.
I like visiting on Sundays- more serene. If you like the party( loud) atmosphere, then M- F around 5:00 pm. Happy hour 3-9 pm,with Weekend happy hour from opening to close
Rica comida 😋
Wonderful lil Thai place. Friendly staff, delicious food, great prices. I ate here 2 times in 2 days! Definitely coming back here next time I'm in D.C.
Disgusting!! The red curry doesn’t even look like it has any coconut milk. For spice they used siracha in my curry. I asked for Thai chili on the side and told me twice in was in my bag when there’s wasn’t any. She put siracha in my bag instead. The pad sew shrimp had tails on it. The side of rice they give you it’s the size of your palm. Will never return and not recommended.
The food quality has really gone down at this location, which sucks since it used to be one of my favorite places. I found a shrimp tail in my tofu order, everything was really greasy and not very flavorful, and I felt really sick after eating.
(The other locations were okay last time I went though)
I ordered the pad Thai and it could have been really good…but they put so much sugar into the dish! Yes, it’s supposed it have a hint of sweetness, but it was so sweet it was like I was eating a dessert food! Very distressing. It seems like a lot of restaurants are doing the same thing these days. Forcing diners to consume more added sugar and thereby jeopardizing our health. This is why I don’t eat out much these days!
Great Environment!
Came here on Monday Aug 8th and Today Aug 10th I got the Thai Fried rice with Chicken on 8/8 it was soooooooo go I had to come back . Today I got Thai fried rice with extra shrimp it was bommmmb I will most definitely be back when I go back to work on that side of town. My food and customer service was so good that I even went to their happy hour after work today . The bar tenders are the bomb thank y’all for the excellent customer service and great food
Can’t deny, they have really good curries. however, the portions have gotten smaller overtime. I’ve dined in a couple times, not too keen on the environment. But if you’re looking for a good Thai takeaway, this is the place
Very ghetto. Drinks bomb
This location *definitely* has a different vibe than the Bethesda location that I’m used to going to. That being said, I ordered the spring rolls and pineapple fried rice (chicken). The food was good and ready quickly. Looking forward to ordering again and trying other dishes.
Really good food...
OMG this is a really nice American thai joint , I will try them again
Front desk employee was rude but food was good
Yummy as always!!
Wonderful food. Wonderful staff. Excellent owner
Get their basil fried rice 🥵 its fr like that
Love the food , and the drinks are ALWAYS STRONG AF!!!
Laid back great vibe reminds me of bpapck

Place to go.. goood food and drinks no lie
Chicken was hard and looked old
Food is fabulous. I haven't tried any that I didn't thoroughly enjoyed. Fortunately for those who love a good strong cocktail they won't disappoint. DON'T DRIVE....ENJOY
Delicious Food and the two young ladies working there today (11/11/20) around 1:30 pm were wonderful. Will visit there again soon.
The service and food are excellent for a small hang out spot near work. Love it here!
Nice little spot
Great food great service
Great happy hour and drinks
Drinks was bomb. Food was alright. It was chilled the day I went.
Not bad could be better need improving
Awesome Happy hour drinks !!
It was awesome nice atmosphere, clean and the staff was great, food was very good overall my experience was great!!! Will dine again
It's Minnesota avenue...I guess they are trying to change the neighborhood around.
Food was great
When I’m at home craving spicy cuisine, I immediately think of Sala Thai meals; but, also when I want a refreshing snack like Satay or Spring-rolls on a hot summer day... the cucumber dipping sauce is a perfect pairing!
No meal is complete without one of the bright, healthy house salads, drizzled with peanut dressing!
The best thing they could add to their delivery menu is Thai Tea (even if canned)... it’s a craving I seem only able to satisfy in Chinatown...
Good atmosphere strong drinks decent food
Probably not somewhere you would want to go as a tourist. Walked in expecting typical thai restaurant, got a cigar/cigarette/joint smoking lounge and bar. Super loud. Food was good though, maybe do takeout. DO NOT BRING KIDS!!
My neighborhood spot, love it
Can't beat a strong cheap drink. Food always looks pretty good
I ordered the Panag Curry and it was yet too sweet! The service was quick and friendly
Loved it
The food is tasty and the atmosphere is exciting. My only complaint... the food quality has gone down since the pandemic. On one order... My fried rice was stiff and looked as if it was sitting for hours. This restaurant definitely has potential to maintain busy but it has work to do!
Excellent
It was pretty tasty.
Light skin bar tender made the bomb drinks..food was good as well and the music was great 👍.
Socially distanced yet welcoming atmosphere. Food and drinks are everything!!!! 💯
Lovely local watering hole with good Thai food. Come for strong drink, eat dinner, make friends.
Good food
Great atmosphere great drinks
Clean and great food
Decent.
Food was awesome and was dast
Omg I love this spot GOOD FOOD, GOOD DRINKS ,GOOD PEOPLE ,GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE... NOTHING BUT GOOD VIBES SND ENERGY.
The pad see ew I ordered was horrible! The noodles were not cooked well, and the sauce was too greasy, the thai tea was very sweet. I also felt super nauseous, after an hour I threw up everything 🤮. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I don't know why this place has a 4.2 it absolutely is a disgrace to thai food!
It's a bit different and the service is always great.
Absolutely amazing service!!! This location is above the rest. The food is amazing. They listen to detail and they are respectful of all individuals. I purchased food through grub hub, an error was mad and Sala Tai quickly rectified it. Most places usually fight with the customer. Making the customer feel as if they are in the wrong, but this location went above and beyond. They will continue to get my business for years to come.
Awful they gave me old expired food so disturbing
A great experience
Amazing the food was delicious. We visited the location the last weekend in August and have added it to the list of "must always do" when in the DC area.
If you are wondering what that is inside the napkin...it's a roach that was killed. The food is good but I will NEVER eat here again...my co-workers already got food poisoning after eating here but I decided to give it one more chance. Not after seeing that crawling on my table. 🤮🤮🤮
Food is always great here!
Wonderful place to eat and great food. Love coming here. Good vibe .
I’ve stopped and ate at Sala Thai five times when I’m in the area! Delicious food! The employees are very friendly and remember their customers! The owner is very nice and gave me a hand shake and said he counted me as a friend!
Everything was good except the drunken noodles. Too dry and stuck together.
Didn’t dine in but had food to go. Food was good and timely.
Moving into the neighborhood and was so hungry for Thai! Found Sala Thai (which I didn’t know was even in the area) and ordered inside for takeout. It’s COVID-19 so it was great to see a clean space the guy who may have been the owner or manager took care of us. The food was so good! Would recommend.
I've been ordering from Sala Thai 1-2 times a week since this stay-at-home order. I ordered from them well before all of this was happening, but I am continually impressed by their service.
My food is always on time and of excellent quality. I haven't tried the full menu, but of all the items I ordered, every one of them
My favorite is the Kee Mao (drunken noodles)
Also the Pla Muek Tod (Calamari)
Highly recommend this restaurant for their amazing Thai food and service!
Nice spot with good food!
Place was neat an clean. The drinks were so good
Great Food and Drinks!!!! During lunch hours you can get food and drinks at a discount cost. It may be difficult to find parking in the area, a high traffic area as well.
Awesome time out, and great drinks!!!
Fantastic. Food is great and the drinks are awesome.
Good food...nice people
The drinks a strong! Ppl and food are good👌🏾
I Love this restaurant
Delicious food, in a bar atmosphere. Service & prices were fair - just not worthy of 5 stars since there wasn't anything super fantastic.
Kool laid back spot, great food ,and decent drink prices . Highly recommend to go on a date if u go.
Sala thia is the place to bee good drinks if you ever need a stiff drink ask for bee
Great customer service. GREAT drinks. Enjoy your time here.
Very nice gem. Near our church, so a nice place for Sunday lunch. Love the Tom's ... Almost meals in themselves!
It was not a good experience I got a 90 charge on my card after my bill was only $53
Excellent place for good food, good drinks and great conversation. Blue Motorcycle is my drink...
This is a great place to wind down after a stressful day at work. They have an awesome happy menu and the prices are phenomenal. Kudos Sala Thai!!!
Drinks are great!
We just moved to this neighborhood from Thailand, so what a delight to have a Thai restaurant. Authentic, delicious, great service
My visit was very brief but the bartender was kind and informative. Food was prepared quickly and even though we were there for to go she still asked to see if we wanted a beverage while waiting. There was a good bit of people there. Football was on. It was nice. I will go back one day to dine in.
Good food and prices
Local and urban. The ambiance on my visit was a toss of casual and club. The mood was trap music. #goodluck
Love the atmosphere
Good thai ..
