I’ve had my eye on this place for a while, and I’m so glad I finally stopped by for lunch—it was absolutely amazing! The food and service were on another level. We ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai, Kapow Goong Gai, and the Maryland Crab Roll, and every dish was bursting with flavor. Our waiter, Steve, was incredible—so kind and personable. He not only gave us fantastic food and travel tips for our upcoming trip to Thailand but also taught us how to pronounce and order some of the dishes we loved. It was such a thoughtful touch! I’m already looking forward to my next visit and can’t recommend this spot highly enough. Plus, it’s super convenient, located right next to the Stadium-Armory metro station. A must-visit!
Great authentic Thai food in DC. Be adventurous and try the menu items besides pad thai or sushi because they’re so much better. We got the roast duck curry and lad na both were very good. Roast duck is a little spicy because of the jalapeño but the pineapples cut the spice.
Stopped by with some friends while in the area. It appears to be a new building and Thai restaurant. Service was quick and solid, although the dishes didn't come out together. While some dishes take longer and some shorter, the timing needs work. The dishes were flavorful and delicious though. Portions were good too.
With several locations around the city, you can't go wrong at Sala Thai. Located in a new building near the Stadium Armory Metro Station, this location comes with a bar, murals, and plenty of seating.
Ordering takeout for pickup on a Friday evening, my order of green curry chicken and mango and sticky rice was ready withing 15 minutes. The flavor on both tasted great! Unlike other Thai spots, there were jalapenos peppers in the green curry giving it a little kick.
Service was quick and friendly.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at SALA Thai @ Park Kennedy in Southeast Washington, DC, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. This hidden gem is conveniently located near the Orange, Blue & Silver Lines, making it easily accessible for both locals and visitors alike.
Upon entering, I was immediately struck by the vibrant and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant is beautifully adorned with captivating artwork that adds a touch of cultural flair to the space. It truly sets the stage for a memorable dining experience.
The menu at SALA Thai offers an impressive array of authentic Thai dishes that cater to all taste preferences. From the moment I took my first bite of the Pineapple Fried Rice, I knew I was in for a treat. The combination of flavors and textures was simply divine. I also had the pleasure of trying the Papaya Salad, which was available in both spicy and mild versions. It was the perfect balance of heat and freshness.
For those who enjoy sushi and sashimi, SALA Thai offers a dedicated bar where skilled chefs craft delectable creations right before your eyes. The variety of options available is impressive, and each dish is prepared with impeccable attention to detail.
The beverage selection at SALA Thai is equally impressive. Whether you prefer a refreshing Saki, a comforting cup of hot tea, or the unique flavors of Thai tea, there is something to satisfy every palate. I particularly enjoyed pairing my meal with a perfectly brewed Thai tea, which complemented the flavors of the dishes exceptionally well.
SALA Thai's location near the old RFK Stadium and the DC Armory adds to its appeal. It's a great place to enjoy a delicious meal before or after exploring the nearby attractions.
I must also mention the outstanding service provided by the staff at SALA Thai. The waitstaff were attentive, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was flawless. It's clear that they take pride in providing exceptional service to their patrons.
Lastly, I was delighted to discover that SALA Thai offers a range of vegan options. This demonstrates their commitment to catering to diverse dietary preferences and ensuring that everyone can enjoy the flavors of Thai cuisine.
SALA Thai @ Park Kennedy is a true culinary treasure in Southeast Washington, DC. With its great authentic Thai food, impressive artwork, full bar, sushi & sashimi bar, and accommodating vegan options, it is a must-visit for any food enthusiast. I highly recommend trying their Pineapple Fried Rice, Papaya Salad, Grill Shrimp with Crispy Egg Noodle, and Drunken Noodle. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!
I go here all the time and usually love it, but last night I went rough and got the drunken noodles instead of pad Thai and it gave me food poisoning. I have friends that have also reported food poisoning from the fried rice.
The Southeast Asian cuisine served is very authentic.
The food was excellent and the atmosphere, which is not my style, was somewhat upscale and sophisticated. Still gave it 5 stars on atmosphere because i can appreciate it even if I don't enjoy it.
What I don't appreciate was the automatic 18% tip added to my bill with the audacity to then ask for another tip on the check with suggested amounts. I forgot to see if those suggested amounts were before or after the automatically added gratuity.
Yes I tip appropriately, but adding it automatically is a bit skeevy in my opinion. This isn't some large, super upscale establishment that one would expect to have an added gratuity.

This place is great. The staff was very accommodating. I came with my dog and sat outside. They took care of every need and were so kind, also had the best Tom Kha I’ve had in DC. The waitress was also kind enough to watch and hold my dog when I went inside quickly to pay as I had to use Apple Pay. I doubt many other places would be so considerate. Highly recommend and will definitely be back. Dined outside 11/6/24 around 2
Food is tasty and service is always fast and friendly. Atmosphere is very chill and comfortable
The food is great customer service is excellent my go to when I go to lunch.. PJ is the best and his staff are awesome.
We got khao soi and pad thai and they were way too sweet for me but service was great
Best beef Penang curry.
Excellent Thai food. The green curry is fantastic and travels well for takeout too.

Food is authentic/fantastic, and the service is always great.
Food was absolutely delicious!! Staff was so very friendly and the atmosphere was truly comfortable and inviting and there will be Jazz on Fridays!! What an amazing addition to the neighborhood
Good Food Good Server
I love ❤️ server
I was delivering with UberEats and their customer service is just amazing‼️ 10/10 would recommend.
Another really solid restaurant addition to the neighborhood.
Finally tried Sala Thai for the first time tonight after wanting to try it for a few weeks, and was pleasantly surprised. It’s very clean and bright inside, and the staff were very friendly. After looking at the very large menu, tried a curry dish and a pad Thai, as well as some curry puffs. Everything came out very quickly, and was delicious. The prices were also pretty reasonable, at least for DC prices.
Will visit Sala Thai again!
We chose this place our first night in DC because it was close. We are big Thai food fans back home so we ordered. We got that pad thai, veggies in garlic sauce, and green curry to share. The place itself was nice and the service was very good too. The food was made promptly. It was good, but we felt the portions were a bit lacking for the price compared to back home. I would give the food about a 3.5/5. Didn’t taste bad though.
Food was fantastic and made more enjoyable by the most amazing staff! Going back~! :-)
I love their Spicy Thai basil fried rice with shrimp. Parking can be difficult. The food here is always fresh and delicious. Service was fast and friendly. They have something for every tastebud.
We went for an impromptu dinner and loved the food, music and the friendly and fast service. Highlights included an amazing crispy and spicy eggplant dish, crab Rangoon with plenty of crab meat, real sticky rice in little bamboo baskets, hearty vegetable fried rice and strong mixed drinks. The place was quiet on a Saturday night so we were seated immediately and received a lot of attention from our waiter. Great addition to the neighborhood. I hope it will become livelier as the new apartments fill up and people find out about it.
Absolutely delicious! Everything we ordered was great! they were so busy we had a hard time getting hold of the waiter but I don't fault them much for that as they were working really hard and we're passionate about their work. Highly recommend, I want to return to try some of their other dishes!
Sushi, eggplant, green curry with fried chicken, and pad see ew are fantastic!
Tom Yum soup was so overly salty it was literally inedible. Who the hell is cooking there and are they tasting their own food? I couldn’t even enjoy all the fresh ingredients that come with it because the soup was so horrid. So disappointing. Cook better or hire more qualified people please. Your regular customers deserve that. I literally had to stop eating four spoonfuls in.
This is a really small space but the food is delicious! Very flavorful, and pretty good drinks. I dined in once and ordered carry out the 2nd time. Will go again.
Great neighborhood Thai restaurant for pick up
I heard from a few people that this new Sala Thai location was great, and the recommendations were spot on. I've ordered delivery three times and the food has always been excellent.

Excellent Everything 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Came to eat while taking a meeting on my laptop. Ordered pad Thai. It was gross and smelled bad. Honestly tasted like they just took the noodles and poured store bought sauce on them. It was also frustrating that they weren’t willing to provide the code to the WiFi. I’d understand if it was a busy day but I came on a Monday at 3pm and was the only person there. Complete waste of money all together.
Best Thai food in DC. Wonderful, kind, attentive service and solid happy hour. Live music (classical and jazz) on Friday nights. We will be coming back frequently!
I recently had the pleasure of ordering takeout from Sala Thai on Park Kennedy, and I was thoroughly impressed with the quality and authenticity of their dishes. The vegetable fried rice, fried eggplant dish, and pad thai with chicken were all delicious, bursting with fresh flavors that transported me straight to Thailand.
Although the music inside was a bit loud for my taste, the live violin players added a unique and enjoyable ambiance to the restaurant. Even though I opted for takeout, the experience has left me eager to return for a sit-down dinner - my wife loves sushi and theirs looked pretty good so we’ll have to come back for that alone.
One small note for future visitors: parking in the area can be challenging, so consider using Uber or Lyft to get there.
Highly recommend Sala Thai for anyone looking to savor authentic Thai cuisine!

Great food, friendly service. I HIGHLY recommend the prik king moo krob, it was phenomenal.
The food and service here was very good. The restaurant is a beautiful modern design as well. The Green Tea Shop was soooooo good, definitely recommend!
We were in the mood for Thai food in the Capitol Hill area, and found this gem of a restaurant within about 1 mile of the Eastern Market. My friend and I ordered Panang Beef and Spicy Tai Herb and shared our dishes. The menu rated Spicy Thai Herb as extremely spicy, but we were able to order it medium. So both dishes were medium spicy.
Both dishes were amazing! Absolutely the best Tai food I’ve ever had.
Oh my, this place was fantastic. The service and atmosphere were great and the food was so delicious. I got the golden cups (beef and veggies in a phyllo type cup) as an appetizer and fried pork belly with delicate greens in a delicious brown sauce with rice. Good prices, too. There was also live music when we went on Friday around 8 pm.
Best tasting Thai food for our family!

I love Thai food and I will try a different dish every visit. I had the green curry, w/fried chicken. Pretty good, but could have adjusted the heat because it was a tad hot for me.
Food so BOMB with favor definitely worth it
Updated 11/4 -- the menu has been updated and includes many more "choose your protein" options -- hooray!!
And a happy hour from 3-6!
We've been very excited for Sala Thai to come to the neighborhood. We've dined in twice and gotten take out once. The food we gotten has been delicious and the service for dining in is great! We'll keep going!
I do really hope they'll evolve the menu to reflect some of their other location menu styles to increase vegetarian options.
Delicious food and great service in a wonderful atmosphere! We love it!
It was all right. I went there during lunch. It is interesting that they have thai food and sushi. None of if was bad. They don't have a lot of my favorite dishes. What i did order was prepared in a way i havent seen before and it wasnt quite to my taste.
I got the lunch special and prices were what I'd expect during normal dinner hours, so it's pretty expensive. Still, very convenient right at a metro and in a recently renovated area. If you like Thai food, if you're in the area, and if you're not looking for a bargain, its a good option.
Sala Thai has really great Thai food - the curries and stir fries are tasty and come with those flavorful ingredients you don't always get (e.g. the little Thai eggplants, young green peppercorns, holy basil). Ask for the little condiment boat of dried chile and hot sauces. Glad we're getting good options for spicy food in this location!
Great new place in Town. Cashew Rice was amazing
Delicious food and friendly service. The Kao Soi is fantastic. We’re so excited to have this in the neighborhood
Fantastic food and very kind staff.
Great sushi, sake, catfish, lamb. Good service.
Amazing food and the most friendly staff!
Had a very good, SPICY, Laos papaya salad. Will be back to try Thai version soon.
We ordered takeout from here and really enjoyed all our dishes! If you like spicy, make sure to ask for “Thai hot.” So glad they opened in our neighborhood!
Ordered the Pinapple Fried rice yesterday. I asked for no pinapple. Okay cool. I received the order and it had raisins and cashews instead. I ordered the same dish last week and asked for no pinapples and didn’t receive raisins and cashews! Called and spoke to the owner or whoever who said he was in business for 35 years and how it was my job to google what pinapple fried rice is!
NO! It’s your job to put in the description the dish has raisins and cashews to prevent a lawsuit or medical bill reimbursements because your establishment failed to put in the description that it has raisins and nuts when someone could have a nut allergy!
What an oxy moron to tell me I need to tell them to remove the raisins and nuts when I HAD NO IDEA IT HAD THOSE ITEMS other than pinapple. I patroned the establishment every week and spend upwards to $30-$80.
Will not go back and will find a black owned and other restaurants that listens and comprehends to what a customer is stating!
So glad to finally see it open! Dinner was great and prices were very reasonable. Will definitely be coming back!
We had dinner. The wife's crab dish was tasty, nice chunks of crab meat. My dish was spicy, as in tasty ,not too hot but the right amount of kick with minced chicken and shrimp with a fried egg on top. Both were more that we expected as in portion size and the duck roll appetizer was amazing. We will definitely go back to try something else.
Delicious food and very nice place
We have been waiting for Sala Thai for so long and it didn’t disappoint. Can’t wait to go back. The pineapple fried rice, panang curry, and duck rolls were especially great. Excellent service.
Very tasty tom kha kai!
Excellent food, quick service and extremely friendly staff!
Great customer and food , I am going to love the restaurant and bar .
My Son and I came here for lunch. Everyone was warm, welcoming and the food was delicious and very flavorful. They were very accommodating and friendly to my child. They do not have a kids menu (maybe they will consider one in the future) but they have plenty of tasty options. Miso soup is a must have super flavourful!
