Traditional Thai dishes, upscale decor & Potomac views are the hallmarks of this Georgetown eatery.
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food. Prices were great, especially for a city restaurant. My family of four enjoyed each of our meals which was delivered to our table very quickly. Especially tasty was the Honey Chicken, Peanut Chicken and Sushi. All meals were presented creatively. If it's your birthday, they comp the honoree's meal - so kind and unusual! Sadly, we were visiting DC from out of town for the day - otherwise we'd visit Mai Tai often.
Best Thai food I’ve had in a while. So flavourful and yummy. Had a filling meal with noodles, tofu, sushi, veggies and of course the mango sticky rice was the cherry on top. The server was so nice and attentive. Really loved the ambiance and the food. One of my favourite finds in DMV for sure!
Disappointing Birthday Lunch Experience
Took my wife here for her birthday lunch, but unfortunately, it was not a pleasant experience for several reasons:
1. Cold Food: The food arrived lukewarm, which made it taste stale. For me, if a dish isn’t served hot, it loses its appeal.
2. Poor Hygiene: The server’s hygiene practices were concerning. When I asked to have my food reheated, he spoke directly over my plate, which felt unsanitary. I even walked over to the bar to observe how they were handling it and saw that he had placed my food on a chair, leaving it exposed while attending to other customers. To make matters worse, when we requested an extra plate, the server carried it tucked under his armpit.
3. Unresolved Issues: I raised my concerns with the manager, who offered to personally bring out a new dish. Unfortunately, even this replacement wasn’t hot. In the end, I decided not to eat my meal, although my wife managed to eat hers.

We had a lovely late dinner at Mai Thai this week. Steamed dumplings were some of the best I’ve ever had. Served piping hot, they came garnished with tons of fresh veggies. For our entrees we had pad thai and drunken noodles. Both were exceptional and served at our requested level of spice. We will definitely be back!
I love red curry and this one was probably one of the best Ive had! I actually wow'd when I first tried it. Curry portion felt a tiny bit smaller than other places I tried but thats the only downfall. Chicken felt a little bit dry.
Overall we enjoyed red curry and green curry, and service was above and beyond. If im near the area I would come back again!
A favorite for years but I’ve noticed recent changes, I get the same thing every visit but their options are many. No lunch special here folks, please keep that in mind. But they have Sushi as well as Thai classics along with some decent drinks on occasion (depends on who makes your drink). Spices hit right and the service is speedy. I enjoyed the Tom Yum Tofu and Drunken Noodles (don’t forget to ask for the spice rack for extra spice).
As a Thai Native, I enjoy the authentic Coconut Curry at Mai Thai.
I ordered Red Curry Jae from Vegetarian Menu for my dinner. It came with the fried tofu. I did not know and asked for "No Fried Tofu" in my curry. Staff were very supportive. He removed the fried tofu and added steamed vegetables for me. The red curry (No added spice from original curry paste) was delicious. The first bite, I remembered the red curry in Thailand cooked by mom.
I came back another day to try Green Curry Jae - Vegetarian (asked for no Tofu!) It's delicious! The quality is consistent with generous fresh vegetables! I sat outside and it's peaceful and beautiful ambience! Thank you!!
Note that Green Curry is made from Green Chilies which is more spicy than Red Curry!
Curry paste is authentic.
Generous portion of vegetables. Come with Jasmine Rice.
Good quality of coconut cream
No MSG
Fresh vegetables and ingredients
Coconut is considered as a "Fruit of God". Coconut is Pure Energy. Coconut Curry makes my skin so soft and radiant with natural moisturizer!
I love Coconut Oil as it's natural. Let food be thy medicine!
I highly recommend to try authentic Thai foods here. Very nice staff, Chefs. Thank you! Kathy

prepare yourself for this positively enchanting experience! truly my favorite spot to go out with friends. a classic indeed. incredibly dependable, relatively affordable food! i’m not sure anything will ever top it

I almost never write a review but I just felt compelled to write this one. I did a take out order for Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. I don't know if they forgot or what but they literally didn't put ANY- ANY! Seasoning including salt! I thought I was just going crazy but I made other people taste them, and they too could taste nothing including salt! On top of that the food was so greasy!! I wouldn't have minded if it was a $11 pad Thai but the pad Thai was almost $20, I can get a much better tasting pad Thai for $11-14, but I paid $20 to eat a completely flavorless, painfully greasy food. I don't want to sound too dramatic but frankly it was the worst pad Thai I have ever had and it cost $20!!!
Yummy veggie curry
Muy rica comida thai y buen precio. Te atienden rápido y muy buena atención.
disappointed in this place. waiter kept asking us if we liked the food when it was really clear we didn’t. the spring rolls were rly good i recommend but other than that overpriced for no reason.

Decent food in a comfortable atmosphere. Bad service from the manager.
Expensive and not worth … not authentic at ALL don’t be surprised to get cold appetizers and worst peanut sauce in my life … expect half cooked here and there.. Rating are just coz of the area it’s located ..
Excelente comida y atención súper agradable
Really good fried rice
We were there for lunch today, the food was very good but the service was awful. Our waitress “June” was very nice, but her coworker or boss, I’m not sure, was very annoying and rude. Unfortunately, I did my math wrong with the tip and he came and he told me in a very rude way “you didn’t give us the tip”. I work in the industry and although it’s true that I was wrong, I think we must remind him that ; first , the tip is “optional” and second, treating a customer like that is really, really unprofessional . I will never return there again and I'll make sure the people I know don't either
Our go to spot for Thai! The pad see eew, curry’s, and crab wontons are our favorites! Everyone is super friendly too.
Spicy Ginger chicken and basil fried rice was so good! This place deserves 5 stars for their food! Definitely recommend!
I've been here for three times. I always order the Panang Curry, it is the best I ever had. The last time I went there was last week with my friends. The server didn't write up our orders so I am assuming that he might be good at it. Ended up getting sticky rice as we said and point it out on the menu that we want mango sticky rice. We didn't argue anymore as we see the gay server is starting to be mean. At the end of it, as we get the receipt, we gave a cash tip even tho it was not 20%, as we still try to be nice even if the service was bad. But the server demanded to put the 20% gratuity besides the cash. I'm also in the culinary industry, I am aware that tips are mostly for servers, but maybe this time give some percentage to the cooks as we go to your restaurant for food and not for the bad service. As we leave the restaurant we can see & hear them talking about us. Disappointed.
I am VERY DISAPPOINTED by the Mai Thai service! I paid $33.78 (order #903796528) for a delivery on a non-busy Thursday evening. We live less than 0.5 miles away. 1 hour later the food STILL hadn't arrived. I called several times and complained -- and the person on the phone in Mai Thai HUNG UP the phone on me. I am very sad because it was one of our favorite restaurants and we used it a lot -- but we won't now because it has changed.
Don’t come here if you’re celiac or if you like pad Thai
This restaurant has the freshest vegetable dishes, even the tofu dishes tastes amazing. This is only restaurant my mom will go to and admit down and actually enjoy her meal. The sushi also is amazing. My favorite is the Awesome Roll. #1 Thai restaurant.
Fluctuating service. We went twice first time guy got wrong order we ordered vegetarian and he got with meats, sushi is really fresh stuff, spice level in Thai is low. The second time we were the only one at 330 pm and they weren’t interested in service at all with an 8 people party and a service charge but hardly any service and waiters dropping water on us guests without coming to clean the spilled water on table etc. Might not go again . Food is good but service needs improvement . Fried calamari retains oil
Went there 10 years ago when my wife and I were dating. It was great then and great now.
I recently dined at Mai Thai in Georgetown, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The lemon drop cocktail I ordered was the worst I've ever had - it lacked flavor and was poorly made. The calamari, which is usually a favorite of mine, was disappointingly unseasoned and lacked taste. Additionally, the customer service was below par; the bar tender seemed indifferent and inattentive throughout my visit. Overall, I was thoroughly disappointed with the quality of the food and service at Mai Thai and would not recommend it to others.
Great food! We had the drunken noodles and panaeng curry, both were delicious!
Got the Drunken Noodles, the service was great for a group of 10+! Would reccomend asking for extra spice if you like spicy food, even the hottest option is a bit mild.
Service at this location was great. The staff was able to accommodate a party of 22 after our friends wedding ceremony on short notice of 90 minutes and also allowed us to update the reservation once.
The food was delicious, many of us got the Pad Thai and we agreed it was the best we've had in a long time. Highly recommend this place!
I am not a Thai citizen, but I have lived in Thailand for a while. While the basil fried rice was delicious, the pad thai tasted like it had a kilogram of sugar because it was too sweet. The staff were friendly, and the place was nice.
Had dinner with my family, the food service was fast, once ordered, and piping hot.
It was very tasty and delicious. The red curry was superb, and my pad Thai was great.
Went for happy hour, apps, and dinner...what an amazing value. Top quality mixed drinks were only $5...some really interesting twists on old favorites. Their version of a Moscow Mule is a banger (Thai Tiger), the Bay City was a hit too. The apps were really reasonable during HH as well...$4 or $5 for Thai wings. But beyond the value was the main courses...I haven't had better Drunken Noodles outside Thailand. Everyone commented on how great and authentic the food was...will definitely be back!
Good food and vibes in the middle of busy area of Georgetown.
The service in this restaurant is so bad! I have been charged double service fee unknowingly. Until now I called so many times and waited for one month. The problem hasn’t been solved.
To be honest, I don't like Pad Thai. 留子谨慎点。
바와 테이블을 갖춘 타이 음식점인데 스시를 파는 점이 특이했음. 음식은 배를 채울 정도로 준수했고 직원들의 서비스도 평범했음.
Drunk noodles = Disaster. Way too greasy especially when the oil smells like (as if) they have fried food with it the whole day. Excessive cost for a tiny amount of selected protein so not a good price in general. But it's DC, there are only disasters, worst disasters, and ... some really fancy 100$ dinners.
Excellent Thai food! Lots of vegetarian and vegan options too. The staff was very friendly and helped us out with what could be the good choices for vegan options. We ordered the Thai green curry and pineapple rice.
Don’t miss the Thai green curry it’s amazing however you can skip the pineapple rice because it didn’t live upto the expectations.
Street Parking is difficult to find but lot of paid garages nearby.
Needs updating. Service was excellent but a bit pushy at times to clear plates and refill waters.
Food was a bit better than okay. My hubs loved his Massaman but I was let down by the blandness of the papaya salad and saltiness of both the honey chicken and cashe chicken dishes. The miso soup was met and barely warm. Spring rolls were the highlight imho
Best fried rice I’ve had ever!! I ordered the fried rice with chicken and my husband had the Pacific Roll with noodles and we were both so impressed with how amazing everything was. The service was great too! We will be coming back here a lot!
Fantastic spot.
As a Thai Native, I enjoy the authentic Coconut Curry at Mai Thai.

This is the perfect dinner after a day in Georgetown. The Pad Thai, Red Curry Jae and Thai Iced Tea are fantastic. The pineapple fried rice is nice, but I've definitely had better. I've been here twice and plan to go again.
soooo nice and sweet service!!! great pad see aw
My wife and I absolutely loved this place
I came to eat with my friends and family the total is 4 peopleI and one child. They charged me 20% gratuity without telling me and even worse that they charged after tax.Do we have to pay tip after tax? Tax is only for government and why I have to pay tip 20 percent after tax? That’s is very very bad and I don’t think it is legally to do like this. Can someone please explain to me if this is legally or not. In the mean time I will find the answer and want to do something with this kind of unfairness.
In a great area and great atmosphere. We ordered a few things and all were delicious! The pineapple fried rice and curry were delicious! Pricing was decent in comparison to other restaurants in the area.
Server refilled my drink without asking me and then charged me for two drinks. It doesn’t even say on the menu that refills are extra. What a deceptive restaurant that preys on Georgetown students. 12$ for lemonade is criminal. Hate to tear down a small business but I would avoid these scammers and visit the plethora of other places nearby.
I popped into this spot on a break and was so pleasantly surprised. I had a ginger cocktail and it was so good! My entree was an eggplant dish with pork and it was delicious. It was a nice serving size and I couldn't eat it all.
I sat at the bar and the bartender gave just the right amount of attention. The kitchen was very efficient. The atmosphere is very cool. I would definitely love to come for dinner one day.
Food was decent but was pretty turned off by two bugs in our cocktail pitcher. Also odd that we got little plastic cups with our pitcher instead of real glasses.
Makes you wonder how sanitary things are and quality control going into service….
Ordered take out and ordered a bunch of things(vegetarian)- green curry, Thai basil fried rice, drunken noodles and veggie gyoza. Really liked all of it! Haven't visited for a sit down experience but would definitely go! The quantity of food was good, but a little pricey. Still would want to go back
Server never checked on us and they incorrectly charged my card. Food was fantastic though.
Really delicious vegetarian noodles options!
Excellent food!!!!
I am a huge fan of Thai food and can confidently say that this restaurant's food meets all the criteria for delicious Thai cuisine. It's a family-oriented restaurant with kind and helpful staff. The service was quick, and the prices were very reasonable. I'll definitely go back!
Food was delicious. Went with big group and everyone was happy with their meal. But, 4/5 stars because the pitcher drinks were fruit punch disguised as a cocktail… skip the pitcher (so tempting because the price is crazy low) and order your own personal cocktail and trust me - you will be so much happier (well, that is if you like alcohol in your cocktails). The night we were there it was full of Georgetown students - love that! We sat outside and service was great. Recommend for a very casual night out for inexpensive giant bowl of pad Thai and a fun drink with an umbrella in it.
양 많고 맛있어요 콜라는 비추 콜라에서 수돗물맛나요
Great restaurant in Georgetown... Green curry is nice. Fried rice could have been better. Service for most part is good but had to keep getting attention for food and drinks
Mai Thai of Georgetown was a lovely experience. The service, food, and environment were very pleasant. I highly recommend if you feel the need for Thai food.
Good but I wish I knew then what I know now.
This is kind of a tough review to write because in a way, the problem was my own fault in ordering. I ordered the panang curry (mild) with chicken, and guess what? That's exactly what I got. Curry and chicken, no veg. It did come with rice, but I was surprised at how... minimalist the dish was. It wasn't until later that I realized that if I wanted veg I needed to ask for it. It's on the menu and it doesn't show an upcharge. I just wish that being a new customer that would have been pointed out to me as I ordered.
I love curry, but even with it's complex flavors it can become almost boring when that flavor and texture has no variation. Anyway, enough of that, now you know that if you want vegetables (which you should) you need to ask for them.
This panang curry was pretty good. I feel like the texture was just right as it wasn't thick like a gravy or too thin to sauce the rice. The peanut was present but not overpowering and the sweetness was on the sweeter side, but good for me. I think I could have taken a touch more peanut, but overall satisfying and identifiable as a panang curry. I'm not someone who likes to sweat while I eat and mild worked for me, but I think my wife would have found it too hot for her palate.
The chicken added to the curry was just okay. Clearly the method of cooking is to cook everything separately and throw them together on the plate. It makes sense to keep the curry open to a vegetarian option, but it means the chicken basically has no flavor. It's also very easy to overcook (and was) since it's probably sitting in a hot tray or something.
Overall it was still good, filling and worth recommending.
Good mid range Thai food, reasonably priced for Georgetown, very attractive space, service was quick if a little casual, and food delivery is wonderfully fast, at least on a weeknight. Generous portions, even of the sides. I'm a regular.
Un lugar muy especial para compartir con familia y amigos... Es perfecto.
The Basil Duck was unbelievably wonderful. The food is excellent. The service to start is very pleasant, but serving dishes was "perfunctory" as described by one of our party. For those who care, the sound level was unpleasant. My party of 3 was of a certain age, we had to leave to carry on a conversation. We all agreed that we might well have ordered another round of beverages and perhaps more food, but we were driven out by the decibels. Rational on the part of the resto, I suppose, they would make more $from a fresh table than our possible marginal addition to the meal.
Main point: Basil Duck and Larb Gai were perfect.
Troppo caro
Overly salty food. Had the vegan options and one of our meals came out with both tofu and chicken. Main meal came out before we could even finish half of our appetizers. None of us are feeling good after this meal. Not food poisoning, just subpar quality food in general.
Quiet and quick service, good location.
Food was very good but not super spicy and the portions were great for takeout leftovers.
So disappointed. We wanted to love this place, but it just isn’t very good Thai food I’m sad to say. Great location in Georgetown, great service, but pad Thai that was a sticky wet mess, Larb Gai had so much fish sauce it was barely edible, spring rolls too oily.
I went to Mai Thai on an evening and it was relatively busy. I like the atmosphere and ambiance as a whole with both an indoor and outdoor area. I got the Pad Thai and found it to be relatively average, good but not great. I also felt that the service was not very personable which contributed as well.
Checked this place out on the recommendation of a friend and after reading the reviews online I admit we were a little skeptical. We were presently surprised.
The food was tasty. The service was extremely friendly and very quick as well. We did our best to try new to us foods and they turned out great.
Food was not well prepared, pad Thai was horrible, no taste. Waiter had very poor comunication in English
Great food and drinks! We tried the edamame, chicken sate, and peanut chicken. They were all phenomenal. The edamame even had this large chunky salt on it that added something extra in such a simple dish.
Very good food !
Food was not very good...
The manager or server that was there was so bad. Our table waitress was very busy and she never brought our check, The food unfortunately wasn’t that good. I ask for mild and even tho was way spicy.
Although the food doesn't satisfy my appetite, the service is great!
Green curry doesn't really blend in the ingredients and Fried calamari is not impressed.
Pad Thai tastes a bit too heavy for me but still fine. It is basically a safe choice in all Thai restaurants.
Would recommend trying other dishes if you come.
Good Thai food, mediocre sushi, bad drinks, terrible service. I would probably order Thai takeout from here, otherwise would not recommend
Favorite Thai restaurant in DC!
Lots of delicious options for vegetarians. Panang curry was my favorite
Food was good, but the service was the worst we’ve had in the past few years. To begin with, it took awhile before our waitress took our order. She then dropped and broke one of our glasses, got the order wrong, and didn’t check back about the food. The guy who was serving water didn’t come by our table until late in the meal. It looked like the waitress didn’t want to be there - poor eye contact. Very disappointing experience overall - the wait staff need retraining or need find a different line of work.
Menu item that was described as not spicy arrived as spicy. Asked kindly for another dish. Manager would not swap out for another dish and gave dirty looks at table till we left. Would not return again. Poor service.
Delicious! Curry was off the charts amazing
If you want Thai food go to another place.
One of few Thai restaurants in the area. I had curry and I’ve enjoyed my meal.
Went there for lunch this past Saturday and ordered #66 a sushi dish. I became nauseous and had an upset stomach within 24 hours of eating there. I was unable to go to work because of violent GI issues which lasted several hours Sunday night through Monday. Totally convinced that I had food poisoning from the sushi dish I ordered. Very bad and awful experience!
Love Thai food. This this place. A go to every time I’m in DC. Their Panang is to die for.
Had a terrible experience, the service was extremely horrible. Food wasn’t that great. I felt discriminated, because of my skin color. The waitress was extremely rude, didn’t want to take our order and yelled at me for asking what is yellow tail. She answered aggressively and said “fish” sorry for wanting to understand what I’m about to eat!
Delicious meal! Food was great, service okay. Our waitress was nice. Good atmosphere.
BEAUTIFUL PLACE!!!...EXCELLENT SERVICE!!
It was tasty but I felt pricy. $4 for Jasmine tea. The enters a bit higher than the burbs. But they bought brought a birthday cream for our birthday lady!
Food was okay. The flavor wasn’t balanced so everything tasted to the sauce it was dipped in. Bathrooms are a bit small.
I just had a wonderful birthday experience! My guests really enjoyed the food and the staff was very hospitable.
Disappointing! After research we chose this place for its good reviews. However, the only positive we can share is one of the two meals was served piping hot. Unfortunately the food is lacking in flavour and I did not receive the requested substitute of red peppers instead of green peppers even though server confirmed the request would be met. Red curry tofu arrived but peppers had been completely omitted. When pointed out server checked and instead offered to serve on the side. My husband ordered the pineapple fried rice and it was bland if not dry - he barely touched it. The rice paper vegetarian rolls also had no flavour with odd textured wrap and no trace of mint. The hoisin dipping sauce did not work at all and overpowered. Service was painfully slow even though we were only one of two tables when we arrived. The last straw was when it took several attempts to request a clean fork. Very disappointing.
Muy buena comida, el servicio que nos atendió debe mejorar. Vuelvo!
The place is surprisingly good.
The location is off rhe crowed place but to food is very good.
Papaya salad is fresh. Pad Tai is wonderful.
Basically we enjoyed every dish we choose.
Great drinks
Good place good food
Love dat crab fried rice
Wonderful! Good price and tasty.
Great Thai food options
