Thrilled to discover a great Thai restaurant in Tampa. The Tom Yum Goong was perfect, close to the best I have had. Wanted to order the fried Red Snapper but got the fried Grouper as they were of the snapper. Nice and crisp, cooked to perfection with an awesome chili sauce that was sweet and spicy and simply fantastic. We also got the chicken green curry and shrimp with spicy chili. All of them were delicious but the grouper stole the show.

Went back again and had the Red Snapper. Absolutely devine!!!! See added picture.

We ordered red chicken curry and a yellow chicken curry called Panang curry. Going by the menu, chicken mussamam curry is what we received in place of Panang. The mix-up was not the biggest disappointment by far. First of all, portions were very small. Both meals had 3 - 4 small, thin medallions of chicken. For $15.95 a meal, this was ridiculous! There was more sauce than anything and I certainly wasn’t expecting potatoes in my curry. It had a few potato wedges, lots of onions, and a couple tiny carrot slices. Sauce more like a soup and flavor sub par. We order 2 Thai iced teas with the meal. The cup was filled to the top with ice and almost no tea. The tea tasted more like sugar water than Thai tea. The lid did not fit the cup. It was so loose that it wouldn’t stay on. Again sub par. I traveled a distance to go here because this used to be my daughter’s favorite Thai restaurant. She always raved about this place. Check was over $40 with tip but portion wise not even worth $10 in my opinion. I’m not sure how it gets good ratings. Such a huge disappointment!!!

I politely told the lady, who I’m assuming is the owner, that I did not like my meal and she said she couldn’t take it off my bill, mind you I ate maybe like two forkfuls of the pad Thai. Pretty ridiculous I had to pay $25 for a meal that I did not like.

I’m not feeling well so I looked up soup near me and this wonderful placed was suggested. The wonton soup was the best I’ve ever had and the egg rolls were crispy and fresh. Service was great as well. Thank you.

I wish I could give zero stars. I have never seen such distasteful service in a restaurant. I had a party of 3 for lunch and when we sat down, immediately we were approached asking what we wanted to order and we ended up getting our food and appetizers. We were not informed the lunch came with soup and tofu, as we ordered soup AND tofu leaving us with excess food more to pay for. After finishing eating one member of our party didn’t tip….we were practically chased out the door with the worker asking why he wasn’t tipped. As we’re at the door he berated us saying tip wasn’t included and asking why he didn’t tip and explained why and it wasn’t due to terrible service (the service was pretty much taking our order and bringing the food) but financial decisions. Afterwards the man grabbed the door to close it in our faces. As we walked away, a woman yelled out the door don’t dine in if we don’t tip!! I’ve gone to this place many times and I am appalled with the treatment of my friends.

This place was an amazing, the atmosphere, the price, the taste of chicken amazing sauce was perfect. Definitely be back.

parhetic quantities, esp the soup. what used to be one serving is now divided into 2. i ordered 2 soups, recd 2 containers, just 1/3 full. very disappointing.

I had a craving for Pad Thai and stopped by for lunch. It's kind of tucked away, off the busy street, and the lighting is dimmed and calming when you enter. They have silk pillows on the booths for your back, and adorable elephants tablecloth. I was greeted right away, and made at ease to sit anywhere Im comfortable. I thought the staff was very attentive and efficient, I wasn't neglected or made to wait at all. After ordering, it was only a few moments my food came out, hot and fresh. The sauce was rich and flavorful, I was impressed. All the food was very flavorful and the interior is lovely, with polished wooden decor. When I was offered my bill..a treat, a small doughnut which I thought was so nice. I felt appreciated and made welcome. I cant wait to go back.

Terrible customer service. I had 2 servers switching in and out on my table during lunch time today, and both were rude. The first server rushed me through the menu while I was trying to order my food, and did not provide me the opportunity to select properly amongst the variety of food on the menu. The second server, I asked about refilling my table spoon size cup of plum sauce, which came with my 2pc. spring rolls that I ordered for my appetizer. The server began to tell me it would be an extra charge, just for another table spoon size of plum sauce to finish my spring rolls. I told the server to disregard as I thought that was ridiculously stated, being I am a frequent customer there who has never been charged for the sauce. That’s a good way not to get a tip at the end of the service, if that’s what they were looking for. I would never return to this establishment again, nor would I recommend this business to anyone. I am going to make sure I spread the word throughout my network of professionals.

We called in an order, we clearly stated “No spicy please”. We grabbed the order and went home. We tried it and was SUPER spicy, the fried rice and the panang to the point where we couldn’t eat it. We asked for a refund since we are leaving to the airport and couldn’t go exchange it and wait 30 mins for new food, they refused. I even offered to drop off the spicy non edible food for a refund they also refused. We wasted $45. Horrible customer service and horrible simple English comprehension. Never going back here again. They think we’re trying to get free food or something. We’re two adults with kids and responsibilities and can’t go back to get a new order due to their own mistake. Your food is untouched and going to the trash thanks. Go learn English please

This is our go to Thai place whenever we visit Tampa. Their food tastes flavorful each time we come here. And we have been coming here for over 15 years now. We recently visited for lunch on a Friday. Got complimentary soup and for dessert got complimentary Thai donuts! We love their sticky rice with mango! We have tried most of their entries and they are really good. One thing I would say about their spice levels - medium spicy was on the hotter level than most medium levels we have at other Thai restaurants, but still flavorful.

My family LOVED visiting Thai Ruby. Upon stepping inside you are greeted by a beautifully decorated space. The food was fantastic, and we could not have been more impressed with the staff. I wish I had two more thumbs so I could give Thai Ruby four thumbs up!

Standard Thai restaurant. Have been twice. Once for pepper and garlic tofu and the other for drunken noodle tofu and both tasted like fresh ingredients but lacked flavor. The pepper and garlic dish was very watery and made the food a bit soggy.

Me and my girl went about a few days ago. The food was so bad that we had to give it to a homeless person. Inside you are meet with such eepiness, the vibe was just not right. At least the thai teas were good.

I heard good things about the place. Had the crabmeat soup, it was good. Portion was kinda small. But the worst is the hospitality there. We all expect people in food business to be cordial even if you order something less expensive or just one item, but I felt really sad. I felt ordering one or two items made me less of a customer than others. I am disappointed.

Had lunch there and thought it was good, not outstanding, but ok.

First time for me. I enjoyed the food and medium spicy was about as hot as I could take. So if you don't take your food spicy be careful.

I love Thai food! This is a little honey pot for Thai quinine right in New Tampa.

This place is really dirty. Seating chairs cushions look like they haven't been washed in a while. And my food came out lukewarm and there was a fly in my food. The server brought the plates out with her hands, not on a tray like its supposed to. And the curry was only filled 1/4 of the bowl. For portions it is too expensive. Overall I was grossed out with the food because the place is unhygienic and honestly I feel like they microwave the food, it's not even fresh.

Really cozy atmosphere - nice wood, darker, calm - attentive service, and of course, very good food. The appetizers and soup were excellent, Pad Thai was exactly as expected, and the Awesome chicken lived up to its name.

One of the slowest service ever in a restaurant. Serving 3 tables, food took an hour to be served. It’s ridiculous that these people charge you $2 extra for asking “less ice” in drinks. With such high prices on the menu, such a mediocre service doesn’t deserve a second visit. Horrible place and never coming back here.

Their dishes are usually good but today I ordered takeout and found a black short hair inside of the crab Rangoon. I do not have black hair. They either cook in the dark or they don't wear head covers. Completely lost my appetite! Of all the mishaps, I find this one unforgiving!!!

This is the BEST Thai food in all of Tampa. I have tried so many places and this is time and time again the freshest and most flavorful. The food is not greasy, overly sweet, or bland. If you want real thai hot you can request it. Their rice is delicious and I pretty much recommend everything on the menu. Please support this business. I want to see them in my neighborhood for a very long time!!!!!

Service was ok but I felt rushed. Had lunch here, and while the food was ok, the portion was horrible, about half of what youd get at most Thai restaurants. Got the garlic with black pepper and chicken, only one piece of broccoli mixed in with minimal veggies. Was still hungry when I left.

First of all, the bathrooms didn't have any soap. Second my eggplant dish should've been dished in the trash. The fried eggplants were not crunchy and when I dug in to eat the eggplant by itself, it was very disappointing. The peanut sauce was extremely SWEET, not edible to me. The soup was mediocre at best.
The steamed rice was good, but less by itself .
BTY, my friend didn't like her food either. She said it looked much better than it tasted.

This has been my favorite place for the last 10 years. I used to live closer but now I'll drive 30 minutes there for their red curry chicken. Their curry Rangoons are amazing and I haven't found anywhere else that makes them like they do ! I do not share my order 😎 You get enough rice and food to split it into 2 meals. I pour the rice into the sauce and let it absorb over night then eat it cold. I was sad to see they aren't selling extra sauce right now but completely understand their reasoning.

Service is poor!! No food yet after 1 hr wait. Opt for carry out next time!! Looks like they cater to carry out orders, giving preference to that over sit in!! Will never consider dining in this place

Unfortunately I have to give this a low score. Staff wasn't rude but they seemed angry right from the first moment and were trying to be civil. The food was disappointing too. Giant portions, but both our dishes were extremely sweet, and had absolutely zero spice, nor were we asked for the spice level. Pad Thai isn't supposed to taste like candy, and sweet chili sauce isn't enough on its own for flavor. The chicken was unseasoned and rubbery too.

Looking at the other reviews, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say it was just an off night for them, but it was disappointing. I feel bad giving a negative review but it just wasn't good at all. On the plus side, the decor is really nice.

Oh, yeah! I go out of my way to eat hear every time I’m in Tampa. It puts Tampa on the map in my mind. I have taken many friends that work and travel with me to Thai Ruby and they all say the same thing as I do. They love it!

We had a wonderful experience at Thai Ruby. This restaurant is within 3 miles of USF snd a pleasant Surprise. The servings were large, fresh and served nice and hot! Everything was spot on as Thai should be. The bathroom was clean snd well stocked. Highly recommend.

For a family of 4, wait time was over 1 hr even though we had a reservation and showed up on time. Some of our food arrived after we had finished eating. Won't go there again. They lost a customer for life.

Found this place many years ago and to this day still has the *best* Thai food I’ve had in Tampa! Absolutely worth a visit, or two. You can’t go wrong with anything on their menu!

The food was delicious and the servers are extremely friendly. The environment they provide is comfy and feels like home.

It was our favorite place until we placed a delivery order through grubhub, they have an item online, they charged us for it, and we had a copy of the receipt and brought it to the restaurant when they forgot the sauce. They refused to give it to us even though we had paid for it, and said we would have to pay for it all over again. It wasn't much, but after coming here for so long and recommending it because everybody's always been so friendly, it it was pretty unpleasant. So come here if you're going to be eating in, but if you get delivery I try somewhere else

Best Drunken Noodles I’ve had! Heat level of medium is solid, and I like spicy food. Portion size is great, I have leftovers for tomorrow.

Fried squid, drunken noodles and pad Thai were all amazing. Prices were very reasonable too. Definitely worth the visit!

Great food. Tom kha kai is best you’ll get in the area and the dessert (coconut ice cream with banana coins and honey syrup) is to die for. Definitely a gem and almost certainly best Thai restaurant in the greater Tampa Bay area.

Nice authentic Thai food.

I went there today for dinner. The food was median, however the Fancy Duck ($23) and a small bowl of Tom Yum ($5.95) and Coin Banana ($4.50) which are overpriced. The Fancy Duck was not authentic, it is more like orange chicken from Panda Express with a bunch of vegatables.

We ate there for late Valentine dinner, after we paid and got it the car, the staff (old lady) who collected our check (not out waitress) chased us, aggressivly required us to tips. After I gently explain to her that tiping is disrespectful in our culture, she just replied " But you have to tips". Till this point, I was upset and I told here that tip is optional and we already paid for service fee in our food. She turn her back on us and tell us that we are rude.

I would give negative star if I could, it was very rude and irrational of her and I will never go back.

Reply to "owner": Then pay your staff if you know they are working hard. You know that tip is optional yet still "require" me to tip? Stop blaming the customer for your stinginess. You should pay your staff and train them how to treat the customer, not chasing customers down for tips.

I cannot praise this restaurant enough, I went with my mother and grandmother, the service was timely and very kind, I ordered the wonton soup which was hot and very tasty. The highlight of my visit was the Yum Nua or Spicy beef salad, absolutely fantastic. Then finished off with a house lychee over coconut ice cream. This was the greatest meal out I’ve ever had. Whenever I’m in the area I know I will be coming back to Thai Ruby.

I have to say that this place has some of the best curry dishes. The portions are huge and my massaman chicken was so good. The Thai tea was awesome as well. The only downside I have is that the appetizers were not the best. The spring rolls taste like shrimp because they mix the chicken and beef and shrimp together. So even if you don't want shrimp in your spring roll you're getting it. Then they don't have chicken sate. Other than that I love this place. One of the best flavors in the bay area

Every dish I have eaten I've loved, great service and food is always fresh,hot and quick out to your table. FYI try the crispy DUCK MMMMMMMM

My favorite restaurant!! I am picky vegan with a sensitive stomach and my order is made perfectly every time, with consistent deliciousness in every meal. I change out veggies and make things complicated but they always get my order right. Wait times are never too bad and the atmosphere inside the restaurant is wonderful - the music is just the right volume, the cushions are comfortable and the decorations really take you elsewhere. Thank you for being a wonderful restaurant and if you haven't been, go!! And get the mango sticky rice!

Red chicken curry that is delicious. Tucked out of the way, small place, quiet.

Favorite Thai spot. Their quality of chicken is superb, their Thai Tea is the best Thai Tea I've ever had, and their pineapple fried rice is out of this world. Very clean restaurant, very friendly staff that truly know hospitality.

Best Thai in New Tampa. The food had been consistently good for the 14 years I have been going here.

This place is incredible! I've had three different curry chicken entrees, all amazing: massaman curry, panang curry, and green curry. If I lived in the area, I would probably come here once a week. Highly recommended.
