Thai favorites including veggie mains served in intimate surrounds featuring a bar plus patio seats.
Perfectly on the way from the GWU campus to Georgetown, Charm Thai has every reason to be a GWU student favorite. Fair prices, GWorld acceptance, tasty fried rice, and personable service mark the charming spot as the ideal dinner location. My personal go-to is the Siam Fried Rice with chicken, though I’ve recently also become a big fan of the Pad See Ew. Pictured is the Chicken Satay, which I tried in an attempt to push myself out of my usual fried rice/pad see ew comfort zone. I recommend the tables near the entrance, next to the big windows that look into the street, for optimized lighting and general good vibes.
♿️ The lower floor looks wheelchair accessible to me. The bathroom may be a little challenging. Lots of stairs up to the second floor. I’m not sure if they have an elevator in the back. The aisles look narrow. It was not fragranced. And did not have outdoor heaters.
This is my friend’s favorite Thai restaurant. I wanted to try it but unfortunately it was too cold to sit outside as planned so we skipped it. I was disappointed that when I asked to exchange a $20 bill for four $5 bills the staff wouldn’t allow it. However, that can be the policy at some stores. I was grateful that they allowed me to sit inside and wait for my friend to arrive despite knowing that we did not intend to eat there.
Edit: I finally had the chance to eat here and it is delicious! If you can’t dine-in try take out!

This is very standard Thai food. You get exactly what you expect. Nothing spectacular and nothing disappointing. If you want consistent Thai food with Americanized spice levels, charm Thai is for you.
We did the appetizer platter, an order of dumplings, drunken noodles and pad Thai.
The masamun curry was the best I've ever had. The spring rolls and the service was very good. Server namrata was very nice and the food took less than 10 minutes to get to the table
10/10 experience. The food was amazing for this price, definitely hits the spot. Wait staff are extremely friendly and attentive. Cozy atmosphere too.
This place is a true gem. The lunch specials are a great. The daytime environment is light-filled and quiet. At night it's dark and nostalgic. The food is well priced for the area, and is quite delicious.
Food is fatty and salty, what ever you order.
Atmosphere is nice though. Drink beer if you end up in this place. Avoid if on low cholesterol diet
Spent 20 bucks on this small bowl of lo mein with shrimp. Yeah, it tastes good yet still mediocre. The serving size is just embarrassing. There's absolutely no way I'd come back to get overcharged.
The lady who charged me was very nice and respectful.

Love their food. My go to when in dc!
Best drunk noodles ever!! Highly recommend.
Food was amazing and service was extremely friendly would recommend
Nice place and food. Fried rice was great.
Great food, drunken noodles awesome
Nice
10/10 experience. The food was amazing for this price, definitely hits the spot. Wait staff are extremely friendly and attentive. Cozy atmosphere too.
Sub par food all around.

Quiet, tasty, nice music, good service by Rosa
Mediocre food, horrible service.
Crispy chicken tasted like it was small shreds of chicken mostly fried flour.. Old rice... Soup was mid. Service cold decor old.
Unfortunately I feel that they care more about catering to one-off tourists that they can rip off than the local neighborhood. I’ve sad several interactions with them that left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
Demasiado lentos y el servicio de atención es pesimo
great experience there had the drunken noodles w/chicken, thai tea and flan, all delicious.
This place has wonderful food! Me and my boyfriend went yesterday and our waitress was so sweet and I had the beef pad see ew which was really good. The flan was so good. I had to order another one and that’s gonna be my go to for DoorDash. I definitely recommend!
The pineapple fried rice wasn’t the best. Idk the type of rice they used. It may have been outdated….The curry puffs tasted good, however, note you only get two curry puffs for $9.
Best pad Thai in town for sure!
We ordered takeout here and the food was very underwhelming. The place looked very organized and nice, but their wonton soup was VERY salty and the tom kai soup was just unappetizing. Would not recommended the soup here.
I regret to say that each time I have eaten at Charm Thai I have had a bad experience. I once waited nearly an hour for food when the restaurant was not busy and another instance the staff refused to split a cheque between my friend and I because of "hassle." Service is very poor while the food is standard fare.
The service was friendly and very helpful, the food was delicious and exactly what we were hoping for, and the ambiance of
the restaurant was cozy and inviting. We’d definitely go again.
Great Thai food restaurant. Very fresh and clean
As good as you expect for it to be. A small place with no people. Service is extremely long and the food is cheap half fabricates. I can cook better fried rice because what I got was just steamed…. I do not recommend. Not that it is super bad — just not worth it
Great food. So spicy tho

We did the appetizer platter, an order of dumplings, drunken noodles and pad Thai.
We have cruised through downtown DC looking for good and expensive Korean and/or Thai food.
We found one right next to my hotel.
The food was delicious 😋🤤.
I said thanks to the chief.
Got to check out Charm Thai on Penn ave
Very tasty !
I ordered drunken noodles and called to tell them no vegetables or spice and extra chicken and called once again to make sure that was fine I spoke to 2 people who said it was, my order was delivered and they had listened to none of the instructions and the man I spoke to lied and said they both had told me that the food was already made (I called right after I ordered it) and offered no solutions
Food and service was fantastic!
Amazing and friendly staffing!
Very good food. Suites my taste. Servers are very attentive. Would eat again next visit in the area.
Première est dernière fois pour moi. Le pad thai était mauvais. Les rouleaux de printemps étaient mal fait. L'accueil était mauvais, la serveuse ou patronne semblait être bien énervée et ne s'est absolument pas préoccupée de moi.
I called in my order (basil fried rice) an hour before closing time, and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. I arrive 20 minutes later (to be safe), and still had to wait over 20 minutes. When the wait took longer, the lady working didn’t come over to update me or apologize for the inconvenience. The spiciness of the dish was perfect, but the rice was mushy and over cooked; highly unacceptable for an Asian restaurant. $21 wasted, all because the dish was ruined by the mushy rice. And I tipped $4 before even getting my food. I do not recommend this place, not even as a last resort.
Can’t speak of anything else but the Tom yum is a disgrace. Sweet broth with chewy chicken that tastes like it died on its own. Poor thing.
Food is not very authentic. The padthai tastes weird and too mushy. The drunken noodles barely have enough hot spice. They charged 20% tip automatically without letting us know ahead when ordering food for party of six. They smell tourists in the water so they went after us. We went to the North Italian last night and they did not charged us tip automatically. Just this place. I would stay away if possible.
By no means will you get a fine dining experience here, but the server we had was perfectly helpful and friendly and the food was delicious!
The service is awful not recommended at all
Yeah definitely not good
One of the best Tom yum I’ve ever had, the broth was incredible.
Also very good larb Kai. 2 🌶️ is very spicy, so go down one if you need to.
I’ve been here 4 times and it’s never a let down. They are pretty good with substituting stuff too.
Cute and quaint little place
Flavorful, well-spiced

Placed a delivery order (Beyond Menu) for my daughter, delivery driver ignored the change of address told by restaurant and delivered it to the wrong address. Called and spoke with Rosa at the restaurant. They were super nice, re-made the order and delivered them herself. Their effort is much appreciated. Top notch customer service and oh, the food is great too. Kudos Charmthai.
ร้านอาหารไทยจีนมีที่นั่งประมาณ15โต๊ะ ร้านค้าออกสไตล์จินเวียดนาม บอกว่าสามารถพูดภาษาไทยได้
Salty, cold and oily rolls. Poor service.
Ordered an entree for pickup around 4:47PM. I was told it would be ready in 10 mins so i gave them 15 before i got there. I paid and even tipped. When i got there i waited until 5:45pm to receive my food. The point of me ordering over the phone was so my food would be ready when i got there. Not wait for over half an hour. When i brought it up i just kept getting “sorry. It’ll be out soon”. There was only 2 tables sat at this time. Like they didn’t even put my order in until i got there. No offer to refund. (even partially) or make it right. I ended up being late to my event after and the food doesn’t taste like it should. No care put into the dish at all…. Thanks charm Thai
I’m giving this place two stars because the food was still pretty good. However the service was some of the WORST I have ever experienced. We waited after finishing our food for at least 25 minutes with no sign of our waiter and being ignored by the bartender. I think our waiter left the building because he finally came through the front door, passed us and immediately went to start taking shots at the bar, my boyfriend then had to go chase him down for the check.
Absolutely amazing food. Must get the appetizer sampler! Also drunken noodles are spicy but worth it. We got the crispy salmon too!! O.M.G. the sauce makes it even better. You will not be discouraged. The employees are so extremely kind and work very hard!
Terrible salty food. AND not cheap! Don't go there;!!
Nice waiter guy
Not good at all, woke up sick this morning after having dinner, service was good, fried rice too, mussels were dry and the lemongrass soup I've ordered was not as described on the menu, not tasty and with a weird smell. I would never go back to this place
I was having dinner yesterday, service was pretty good, I've ordered lemongrass soup and was not good and It did not look at all as described on the menu, mussels were not tasty and were dry, fried rice was very good tho. I woke up today sick and had vomits, I would't go back
The worst food ever ate 🤮🤮 it wasn’t fresh
The food was terrible.
Tasty and authentic Thai food.
After standing inside almost 30 minutes waiting for my carryout order. It comes out in a glass bowl for dine in. I tell them it's to go and 10 minutes later I get the worst pad Thai I've ever had. . The noodles are so dry and chewy like chewing rubber bands. I put it in the trash immediately didn't want to even try waiting on a refund. Disgusting.
Food no good
Employees unfriendly
Walked in and no one was around, chef came out and was trying to get a server to come out and greet us. After a few minutes we decided to leave and server came out at that point and encouraged us to stay. I was already in the street but decided to give it a try.
Food came and mine was average at best. My wife’s meal was disgusting. We couldn’t eat it and asked for it to be taken off the bill. The server said if he took it off he would have to pay for it so we had to keep it.
Service was not great, we were about to leave but decided to give them a chance. I ordered the Tom yum soup which was watery, sweet and awful. Couldn’t eat it. I asked for it to be taken off the bill and the waiter told me no otherwise he had to pay for it. Would not recommend at all.
Ordered Thai chicken rice and sweet and sour sweet chicken. Food was cold and portions were small. Rice was mushy and had no flavor. Sweet and sour chicken tasted like soy sauce and very salty. Service was not that great either. Would not return again!
Alright. Got the green curry. It was too sweet. But the sweet lady server was nice.
Simple restaurant, serving traditional thai dishes. I had the massaman curry, made "not too spicy" on my request. Very tasty. Service was accommodating and friendly. Good restaurant with reasonable prices.
Worst food ever.
Ordered for pickup. And just wow. Truly the most awful Thai food I've had of all time. Mushy when should be crunch: spring rolls. Flavorless. Extremely dry and burnt chicken satay. Pad Thai bad as well.
Gutes Curry ......ein klein wenig teuer, aber wirklich gutes Essen und die Bedienung war super freundlich.
The pad thai was blasphemous to thai cuisine. Reminded me of when I used to add soy and chili sauce to cup noodles in college. Honestly impressive how bad it was. I don’t think anyone that works there knows a thai person or has actually had thai food. Been a while since I’ve had something that disappointing.
Food is below average and they got the order wrong. There was also a piece of plastic in the food.
Such a cute little place! The food is amazing and the staff is incredible.
If I could give this place 0 starts I will. A friend of mine and I walked in and sat at the bar, and was not greeted. Instead was asked were we here for the bar….why else would be sitting here. Then he hands us a menu and tells us the bartender will be out as he walks to the back. No one ever came out to take any orders and we left. I will NEVER go here again.
The worst food you will ever have
The food is mediocre. The service is terrible. Hopefully, you want have to interact with a guy named Faruq. I ordered takeout one night, and he gave me the wrong bag. When I called from home to see if I could get the right order, the place had already closed. When I went in the next day to let him know what had happened, he couldn’t care less. No apology. Nothin. Just a rude dude.
Good place for Thai food. Pretty nice interior. Shame they don’t do lunch specials anymore - would get them more business. The Khao Soi was very yummy, wish they gave more meat though.
Not a bad place. Food is clean and portion sizes very decent. Definitely Thai food but not the best. May need to ask for it a bit spicier. Prices are good!
This restaurant must be kidding me. I ordered from here through Uber eats and I received an email after one hour saying that the order was cancelled because this restaurant was closed. ONE HOUR!
The service was awful
Drunken Noodles (beef) was amazing!!!!
Very good Thai food. Lighting, is on the darker side we all agreed .
Garbage restaurant, had to wait almost 3-4 hours for them to deliver my food too, mind you the location I had them send the order too is less than 5 mins away.
It was okay experience
We came here for my bachelorette party. The food was amazing. The waiter/bartender, Farooq was the absolute best. He served us fast and was so fun. He put music on for us and spent time with us as we played bachelorette games. The restaurant is very cute but again the food was really delicious. Everything we had was fantastic plus Farooq took such good care of us. Shout out to Ron Jolly, Alex Miller and Z!!!
best lo mein and basil fried rice i've ever had. ever. go here trust me you will not regret it
The worst customer service
A really chill place to go, the red curry was very good, and my wife enjoyed her meal as well. The tea and water did taste a little like dish detergent. Maybe they'd just finished rush washing the cups?
Good food, horrible service. Order take-out.
I live next door and always get the noodle soup. These guys are legit. Good food, decent price, no frills atmosphere, pretty much what you want when you want good Thai food without the “extra” nonsense.
Delicious Thai food. Fresh and spicy.
Safety precautions in place. Tasty! Friendly staff.
Great food and ambiance.
Excellent place to go for some thai food and a drink. The main chef is from Thailand and does a great job. Drunken noodles and stir friend basil were outstanding. Beer is cold and fresh. When the weather is nice, great place to sit outside. Prices are... look, its an expensive area to rent restaurant space, so dont expect bargain basement prices. But if you're in the area you're not really gonna find cheaper eats.
Their traditional noodle dishes aren’t bad. However, the Crispy Basil Duck is horrible. I’ve had many different versions of it and this was by far the worst. The best versions are sliced or pulled so that there is an even proportion of fat to meat, and pan fried with aromatics.
Their version was a mess of uneven chunks that were cheaply breaded and deep fried into a disgusting clump. The sauce they served on the side was a lazy goo of sugar, basil, and red bell peppers. Whoever made this either winged it or didn’t care to look up the recipe online. We ended up throwing it away. I’ll not be reordering from them.
Goid food, very good service.
This place is incredible !! The food was awesome !
Food was very good but portions were small.
Amazing food and excellent service! I will definitely come back!!
New favorite place right by my job. Spicy spicy spicy. Ask for less spice.
Told the guy my dish was sooo spicy I couldn’t it/it hurt my stomach - he told me that’s how the dish is to be mad and was upset because I had eaten a 1/3 of it (because I was trying not to go back to Charm Thai /got takeout). Would not recommend this place to anyone but only as a LAST RESORT. Also super expensive, with small serving sizes.
Solid meal, nothing spectacular, but not bad.
Everything was delicious!! Salmon well cooked, not spicy, salad and rolls also great! I also eat a Wonton soup with a very delicate and delicious flavor. I'd like to go back and try a different dish! The only thing is the place inside is very dark and was hard for me to see what I was eating!
The best Thai resturant ever.
Great Thai food. Good one.
Amazing Thai food in foggy Bottom. Fast and friendly service with a smile. I tried it twice once for carry out and once for dine in. I was amazed how the lady asked me water even when I wanted carry out. Good service overall.
Dinner and ice cold beer. Awesome place.
Best place in dc
Atención rápida y amable, buen sabor
Not great choice for vegetarian and food smells like non-veg
Everything is full of flavor and delicious!
Food is the worse I ever had!!! I regretted not going to the subway across the street, although I never had Subway, greasy and salty food, soup was not edible we spent $78.00 for garbage!! Health hazard do not go to this place you will regret
The food is horrible everything is extremely greasy oily and way to salty stay away from this restaurant it will cause a heart attack I give them a negative 50 for a rating!!!!!!!
Great food
Food is very solid. Ambiance is okay
Tasty spicy food, menu for all tastes, good prices, convivial atmosphere.
Service & food was excellent
Delicious. Clean. Fast Cook in front of you. Cheap place.
