Asia Nine gave me a very solid dining experience. And I will definitely come back here.
I ordered green curry, Tom kha, and tofu (tofu not pictured obviously). I wished the green curry had more spiciness to it. Nevertheless, the curry was elegantly cooked. My only gripe with my dining experience was the main course (green curry) came so early and it took another 10 minutes for my appetizers (Tom kha and tofu) to arrive. Otherwise, it was a solid Thai food experience.
This is my favorite Asian restaurant in DC! The food is outstanding—authentic, flavorful, and always perfectly prepared. I love ordering my dishes Thai Spicy, and they get it just right every time. The service is impeccable—attentive, friendly, and efficient. I highly recommend the Pad Thai and any of the curry dishes, as well as the tofu appetizer and duck rolls. Honestly, I might just keep coming back until I’ve tried everything on the menu!
I came in with a thirst for some water after a LONG day of walking everywhere and stumbled upon this place. The guy brought water after water refills so kuddos to his service.
I expected a quick average meal but was served some of the BEST Asian food I've ever had in my entire life!!! I cannot go into detail the flavors and presentation the restaurant had put into this dish. Pictures simply do not do it justice! I always get combination fried rice everywhere but I chose the seafood fried rice with an additional seafood option to the plate and it had oysters, scallops, calamari, you name it. I'd recommend eating here 100%.
I dined at this restaurant a while back, and it was a great experience. I particularly enjoyed the beef dish, which tasted delicious and perfectly cooked. The fried rice was also good. This restaurant has a vast menu with many dishes and drinks to choose from, which can make it challenging to decide. However, the overall service and ambiance were good.
New Year's Day late lunch was fabulous!!! The seafood salad exceeded my expectations. The orange chicken was excellent. It was not a planned meal but so glad we happened by.
I went to a happy hour at Asian Nine and I was not disappointed. There happy hour menu is awesome about the value was great. We started off with their drinks (Thai Whiskey Sour, Hibiscus Mojito) and the combo sampler. We then got the Asian wings and Chicken Skewers prior to getting Panang curry. They had a very polite staff and made us feel at home. We had a great experience there and would go back.
Orange chicken ir barely has chicken, it’s crunchy with little piece of chicken with a very thick layer of bread, and the Singapore rice with chicken only has 2 little strips of chicken. It you’re looking for a good Chinese food this is not the place.

Delicious food, excellent service.
The food is good! I had the chicken pad Thai. Service was slow, even when it wasn't that busy.
Really good food
Husband is a picky eater and he said it was gooood
Well seasoned
Delicious lunch. Had the Khao Soi lunch special. This is the best Khao Soi I have had outside of Thailand. Prices are very good and portions are enough.
I highly recommend
New Year's Day late lunch was fabulous!!! The seafood salad exceeded my expectations. The orange chicken was excellent. It was not a planned meal but so glad we happened by.
Solid menu with delicious food and good cocktails
Best Orange Chicken and Sha Shu Noodle I’ve ever had. Very attentive staff. Yum.

Great food, good service , warm atmosphere!
Hit the spot. Fast service, good food
went here with my date and she said she wants another one🙏🏽
🤌
A friend took me here for my birthday and it was SUCH a disappointment. I have been waiting for today for a long time and drove over an hour to come to this restaurant. The food was not worth it at all.
I ordered the shrimp poppers and the fried calamari. I had looked at reviews and saw pictures of how they served these in the past and I was so excited. To start with, the calamari was so thin, dry, and SUCH a small portion, it was very hard to eat. The calamari wasn't fresh at all, and had only a few pieces. I took apart the breading, and what remained was a plastic-y looking hard inedible lump. I couldn't believe someone had cleared this to go out from the kitchen. I had researched all reviews and everyone said the portions were large and these two appetizers were the best, I felt like I was being gaslit.
I looked up all the dishes before coming, looking at pictures, getting excited. I had planned my dishes before coming, and the portion was only about half what it normally was in other people's pictures. I did not want to be that person who complained, but we literally couldn't eat the calamari. I would look over at other people's dishes and I would see large portions for their appetizers and fresh sizzling food.
The only saving grace was the Green Curry dish I ended up ordering. Then they forced us to pay a $10 tip for mediocre service for just two people. I believe in tipping and tipping well, but to include that automatically on a bill when we weren't a group was completely out of pocket.
I had a wonderful time chatting with my friend, but the restaurant was a 0/10 for me tbh. Reading previous reviews, Asia Nine will likely just say thank you for the review and do nothing about it. If you want to retain people's business, you should do something more.
The taste of food was not bad, so so.
Atmosphere is not very clean.
When you got a check, look carefully.
The price included service fee(18%), but there was also a space for tip.
I felt bad, I won't recommend this place to my friends.
It's always a rough day when you go into an Asian restaurant and they're only playing Ed Sheran.
The tom yum soup was a 1/10, tasted closer to tomato soup
Drunken noodles were pretty good but not enough chicken.
Yellow curry was pretty good but a little sweet.
Highlight of the meal was the coconut lychee drink, very good
Got the crab and shrimp fried rice specialty. It was very average. There was so little crab meat I initially asked the server if they had forgotten it. There was less than the size of my thumb. There were exactly 4 shrimp on it. I expect more for a 25 dollar rice dish. Service was not good or bad. Average atmosphere. The duck rolls are good, but way too much scallion for my tastes.
I likely won't return on my next trip.
Food was good. Everything felt authentic.
Really great experience! Great food and service!
The review I am giving right now is solely based on customer service and the drinks. I truly enjoyed the host, T and the bartender on duty. Unfortunately I forgot the bartenders name but he was very attentive. As for T, she exemplified the true meaning of customer service. T helped the bartender and was very relatable. I can tell that she is a gem! As for the food, I have heard good reviews but I haven’t tried yet. This will most certainly become a regular spot of mine and I look forward to trying the wings and many other dishes here!
Went for dinner with party of four. Food was good but was surprised to see an automatic 18% added as tip in the bill. Upon asking the lady clarified that with a party of 6 automatically includes a service charge of 20%. Unexpected end to the dinner experience.
I got the yellow curry and I could not believe how good it was. Definitely a stand out restaurant in DC.
Live next door and have tried this place many times. They are unbelievably slow regardless if you order on advance or dine in. Clueless and under staffed.
We ordered the crab rangoons. 10/10. Best orange chicken In Chinatown. Very nice atmosphere. Helpful and responsive staff who were happy to be there.
Dined in with my colleagues while we attended a conference in DC. The food was delicious and filling. The time turn around after you placed your order was reasonable. The staff were professional and accommodating. I definitely would recommend this restaurant. Most likely will visit again when I visit DC again.
I came in with a thirst for some water after a LONG day of walking everywhere and stumbled upon this place. The guy brought water after water refills so kuddos to his service.

A 15 min d a piedi da capitol hill. Cibo ben fatto. Porzioni molto abbondanti come il loro prezzo, ma qui è cosa "normale".attenzione al simpatico cameriere thai che dopo il pasto ti propone i cocktails dopo che hai pagato.....non sono offerti dalla casa!!
We order red curry - vegetables were spoiled in it and tofu was very old, you can tell when you eat it . Pad Thai noodles eggs were spoiled too and it was smelling .
I’ve been here twice! Great food and service.
Nice lunch with friend.
The food was absolutely outstanding. The flavors were very assertive and delicious. We shared an order of the potstickers, then went family style with the orange chicken and a Korean beef dish that was incredible. The service was very attentive and friendly. It was a sweltering day so the AC could have been cranked up a notch to make the entrance to the restaurant really feel refreshing. It was definitely cooler inside, but we would have liked to cool down a bit during lunch. We would recommend it and return if in DC again.
The best Cantonese fried rice and outstanding service! I always feel welcome every time I visit and love going back frequently.
Great place for a meal before or after going to see a show at Ford's Theatre. We had crab Rangoon, wonton soup, papaya salad, yellow curry with chicken, and drunken noodles with chicken. We were very pleased with everything we ordered.
I came in with friends to get a “kind of quick” meal and leave. I asked for a dish with vegetables and tofu, and it came back as a beef dish. They fixed it after my request and it came back with just vegetables, no tofu, and a pretty depressingly small portion. Definitely not worth the 18 I paid for it. Also I know it wasnt a problem with the waitress because I saw her write it down properly, so not her fault. Also it took a really long time for the final payment to get done, but maybe they’re understaffed. At least the dish tasted good.
Not crowded at all on a Saturday in May month. Shrimp popper was awesome. Thai basil fried rice portion was huge for one person; medium spicy is spicy enough for someone like me usually eating spicy food. Reasonable prices for the city with a lot of tourists. Service was fast.
Great service food not so much
I dined at this restaurant a while back, and it was a great experience. I particularly enjoyed the beef dish, which tasted delicious and perfectly cooked. The fried rice was also good. This restaurant has a vast menu with many dishes and drinks to choose from, which can make it challenging to decide. However, the overall service and ambiance were good.
They incur an 18% service fee without mentioning it anywhere in advance. There were 2 of us (not a big party) and they charged us 18% additionally and also asked for a tip.
Name and shame the places who put a tip automatically for you without asking.
The food was amazing!
Great stop in DC , we had the wontons, edamame and pad tia and it was exactly what we wanted! Excellent service!
Great Thai, Vietnamese in DC
Food was amazing! Best spring roll ever. I also had fried rice with shrimp and topped with crab- so, so good!
In Thai, expressing gratitude is slightly different for men and women due to the addition of polite particles at the end of phrases. For men, to say "thank you," you would say "ขอบคุณครับ" (khob khun khrap), with "ครับ" (khrap) serving as the polite particle that men add to the end of sentences to show respect or politeness. For women, the phrase is "ขอบคุณค่ะ" (khob khun kha), with "ค่ะ" (kha) being the polite particle used by women for the same purposes. These particles do not change the meaning of "ขอบคุณ" (khob khun), which means "thank you," but they do make the expression more polite and culturally appropriate.
Good food, fast service and the service was great
Good food and service. Sushi bar is shut down and the overall vibe is empty and dead. Great place to go solo or if you want to eat good food and converse in a quiet place.
Everything was excellent. We shared the Korean beef and the Thai BBQ chicken and both were so good. We argued over which was better and settled on the Korean beef. They did chicken and rice for the kid. All the portions were generous and the service was very friendly and attentive. If we lived here, we'd definitely be back.
Great food and service!
Fantastic lunch menu and service
We went a party of 4 and they were very kind. Great food! Would recommend the drunken noodles, the wanton soup and the hibiscus sidecar(drink).
Amazing food, they hit the Asian spicy spot for me tonight.
I had their tom yum soup and drunken noodle. Tom yum soup was sour and with a bit of kick. Shrimp was cooked just perfectly in the broth. The drunken noodle, which is a rice noodle stir-fried with choice of protein, basil and a lot of hot pepper was amazing.
I enjoyed their basil noodles (drunken noodles) with vegetables and tofu. The service was quick, too.
Wonderful pleasant restaurant. We only got one dish but it was unique compared to the normal offerings, perfectly spiced and tasty. They are a little parsimonious on the rice and extra rice cost $3. Wait people were quick and friendly and made sure the dinner went well. I typically discount for the minimum amount of rice and unreasonable cost but everything else was everything you would want.
Food was extremely disappointing. I’m almost positive they have fake reviews, because this should not be over 4 stars. Flavorless and greasy. Slow service, bad atmosphere. Was very disappointed by this place. Would only come here to get drinks for happy hour, no food.
This place was around when I worked in DC in 2008. 15 years later it still stands when many restaurants have come and gone. Enough said.
always good food and the menu sometimes has new things that we like to try out. Also, take out was fast!
Food is so delicious. Service is amazing. Just perfect atmosphere for dinner!🤩
This may be the best green curry and fried rice I’ve ever had. I would absolutely recommend coming here if you are in the area.
The server attempted to bring a check when I was still eating, and I had to mention several times that I was still eating. 18% tip was automatically charged.
It was amazing! The food was very tasty, the drinks were good! The service was somewhat decent, it wasn’t busy but our waiter barely checked on us.
看外形和名字以为是很美式的中餐,没想到却意外得好吃,价格也实惠,推荐。
Stopped by on a whim, and the food is so good.
Grate place. For outside or inside. The portions are grate !! Price if good ,for being in the middle of a Bust DC. The veggies delight was awesome. Grate place . Gets your money's worth in deliciousness and portion
Ryan and Mia says the food was bussin!!!!!
For what it's worth, it serves decent food with reasonable pricing.
The best orange chicken I’ve ever eaten. It was fried so delicately that it melted in your mouth. Our server was so sweet, she even brought me an extra to-go container of rice to take with my leftovers.
I asked if the food was hot. I specifically wanted close to Thai hot for the drunken basil. I got precisely what I wanted and it was amazing. The staff was amazing. 10/10 recommend.
Korean beef and gyoza were delicious, but the orange ch8ken and the Takoyaki were not that good. Takoyaki came a bit cold in the center and the orange chicken seemed like there was not much chicken in it.
I ordered takeout from Asia Nine during lunch hour, so yes, it was busy and the food took a while. That's okay. When I received the food and returned to my office, I tasted it and realized - not okay. I've had my share of Asian food over the years, and this is low quality and substandard. The lo mein noodles were excessively chewy, the bell peppers were hard and not cooked. The spring rolls I ordered were VERY mediocre. Ironically, Asia Nine has higher prices than other Asian restaurants that I am familiar with. I attribute this to their Washington DC location where many federal agency employees dine out for lunch, and so they raise their prices in turn to maximize profit due to the steady stream of business. I would pass on this restaurant. I paid $24 for Asian Lo Mein noodles and 3 spring rolls. Not worth it.
Lots of raving 5-star reviews from folks who have never tried true Asian food and have nothing to compare it to.
Can't say the food tastes good. They charge you 18% service fee and wanna charge another 18% tips. Watch out! Don't get tricked!
Absolutely amazing food. All 5 of us really enjoyed what we ordered. I personally recommend the curry. The servers were attentive and made sure we were taken care of too.
Best thai food in heart of dc
Food was ok, only the Cantonese fried rice was above average and tasted good - Happy hours was funny - had to be seated at the Bar only ? Place was not even remotely full - we went in at 645pm…
Good food. Good service
I had the Salmon Udon and ate Orange chicken as well as Pad Thai from others in party, and it was all phenomenal.
Loved the food! Short walk from metro. We had tofu panang curry, vegetable pad thai, chicken pad see ew, veggie spring rolls and veggie dumplings. We had our 9 year and 5 year old with us. Everything was great! Would recommend!
Very good food. We got the duck dish and it was delicious!
We had the Crying Tiger and Shumai side. Best ever!
I went in with high expectations and mittens, and left dissapointed and catless. The food gave me a stomach ache and now I can't feel my apendix. Instead of dining here I'd rather eat my mother's food(she doesn't feed me). I'm currently stuck in a ghetto hotel with a flooded sink, a door taped shut and a horrible Sharp pain in my ribs from your food. Other than my guts feeling liked their being stabbed by Mike Tyson the water wasn't too bad.
Good Asian food restaurant in the capitol hill and monuments area. Service is slightly slow but overall good experience.
Large portions and very filling food, but not the best quality. Edamame I ordered looked dehydrated. If you can’t take spice I suggest not too have a dish higher than mild, they pack a lot of heat in the dishes which is great!
Great food, everything was fresh and tasted delicious! I had the Crispy Basil Chicken and would recommend it.
NO sushi!
They are not updating their menu and very rude about it.
Fried rice is clumpy and full of salt. Yuck!
Underwhelming food and service.
We stumbled on this place while visiting DC. Very good!!
Waiter went to the toilet and did not wash his hands. I told the manager and he made an excuse.
Also, if you look closely at your receipt you will discover the suggested tip amount is on top of the taxes. Not sure it may be illegal but certainly unethical.
Moreover the quality of the food is not on par with the price you pay.
Try instead Restaurant 54 down the street.
Good food and enjoyable lunch.
The servers were sweet :)
Tasteless food and very bland. Never eat here again!
So very disappointing, My husband and I had 2 friends that join us for dinner at this Asia Nine restaurant we get couple appetizers and entrees like Panang curry, orange chicken, spring rolls, fried noodles and Asian chicken wings and all of us agreed the food we received was bland and terrible, just awful please buy your Asian food somewhere else. Food is overpriced, just terrible and bland.
Good service. Poor food…edemame served frozen chicken grilled by tattoo heavy bread on tempura. You will be disappointed.
BBQ entree was a leg and thigh of a chicken, majority of the flavor was on the skin but a bit permeated into the top layer of meat. The sauce was sweet. The papaya salad was very good, and served in a acidic dressing that went well with the chicken. The sticky rice was fun to eat.
Fried tilapia was delicious with a solid crunch. Serving size: Two giant pieces of tilapia. Brown sauce was excellent. I would order that again.
Staff was very friendly and kept the water glasses full.
I highly recommend trying this place. It has a dish for everyone.
Walked in at 8:50pm on Sunday - reason why is because google states they’re open until 10pm (verified by business 8 weeks ago). Walk in - lady looks at us and states they’re closed. What time we ask? 9pm!
We selected Asian nine because it ws closest to the Smithsonian National History Museum(10 min walk).
Boy am I glad we did!! DELICIOUS.
We arrived early and started with some draft beers and the Happy Hour combo. The the teriyaki chicken with a mountain of white rice perfectly cooked broccoli. And the special of pork with yellow noodle. We returned clean plates (and empty gasses)
wonderful meal.
No service. Saw the server once. Took 30 min to get food in an empty restaurant
Excellent first time there..I was with one of my bookclubs nice for Saturdays before it gets warm..food service price range simply Awesome... We should have taken pictures.. Recommend for lunch or dinner🕊👋🕊👍🕊🌟🕊💞🕊👏🕊💃🕊
Went for business lunch and it was just too much food on a plate per person. Fine for a lunch with friends but not so much for upscale business lunch
Great dumplings
Mediocre food, and service.
We went on Chinese New Year, and nothing special
great restaurant with a wonderful environment! i got takeout and had a great experience. the food was fantastic!
(We ordered via DoorDash, so this review is for the food only after traveling and not atmosphere)
The food was still hot by the time it arrived, which was impressive. Everything was yummy and we'll definitely be ordering again!
What we got:
ORANGE CHICKEN: good serving size and chicken was crispy. I liked that it wasn't dripping in sauce.
TERIYAKI ENTREE (SALMON): came with rice and steamed veggies, and everything was cooked perfectly. The salmon was nicely sauced, and there was a bit of a char to it that made it a little crispy and smoky. The teriyaki sauce was good, and it came with cucumber and ginger that was refreshing.
THAI BBQ CHICKEN: apparently the sauce was a little spicier than expected, but I didn't even try it because the chicken itself was PERFECT. Chargrilled and so juicy it didn't need anything to taste amazing.
Definitely want to try more options next time, super impressed with the variety available on the menu and curious if the other dishes hold up.
Really good asian food and very generous servings. Prices are average. Highly recommended.
If you get Korean sizzzling beef, I liked it mixed with rice
Great food and friendly service! Highly recommend!
bad food bad service
Quick service, wonderfully tasty food and on the same block as the historic Ford's Theatre. Anything on the menu that catches my eye always tastes excellent, and if we have a show to catch we are always done and out the door with plenty of time to spare.
Nice restaurant yo have asian food. Ambience is quite good and the food quality is very good also. Service was good and we have our dinner over there in the weekdays and may be because of this the restaurant was mostly empty. We were greeted upon entering and service was quite fast. Food tasted really nice and price was quite pocket friendly (if you don’t take any alcoholic drink). Food quantity was really good. We ordered sapporo beer and it was mentioned as beer from japan but we noticed that the beer was “made in Vietnam” which sounds funny ( as Sapporo beer is quite famous in Japan and I know it). Otherthan our experience was nice there. Will visit again if possible.
