On A Positive Note: I’ve dined here on two prior occasions.

Today, I was seated at the bar. The bar is rather high for the seats. Nonetheless, my hibachi shrimp was tasty and well sauced. I didn’t need to use the mustard or the ginger sauce. The server was very attentive. She cleared my soup and salad bowls immediately after I finished each of them. However, she did not offer to refill my water.

The Verdict: Great food and service. I deducted one star from the atmosphere due to the awkwardness of the bar height in comparison to the stool. I’m 5’ 7”. I would dine here again- just not at the bar.😊

Maybe I'm just agitated because my poor kiddo is starving, but I'm sitting here with her 22 minutes past the estimated pickup time, which is bringing our total wait time from when the order was placed to almost an hour. It's not even CRAZY busy. I understand food service is stressful and hectic, but this feels obnoxious. And the lady at the register wasn't very pleasant when I first came in to pay. (I'm always very friendly and polite, I know how hard people in the service industry work.) You can imagine how much nicer she was when I addressed the wait. 🙄 James, if you ever read this... I know how much you love reading reviews from people while they're still in the establishment. 🙃

I'll update about the sushi when we eventually get it, I guess. As of right now, I'm not impressed. If the food sucks, too... If I could give zero stars... I would!

Update: The food was excellent, so I have increased the rating slightly. I probably still won't come back here unless I'm out of other options. Of course I got a nicer demeanor when she handed me the food (and a "honey" or "sweetie", and possibly even an apology), probably because she saw me leaving a review.

The new mango wish roll is a must try it's 1 of the most delicious rolls i have ever had it leaves a taste that you will want more of

Made a reservation tonight for Valentine’s Day. Show up and it’s packed - literally shoulder to shoulder with people. It’s confusing where to go if you have a pickup or are eating in. There’s no clarification and it’s chaotic. One person in front of us said she had been waiting for two hours for her pickup order and wanted a refund. Then a couple walked in and told a waitress they have a reservation too which she responds with “Yes, everybody else is waiting too.” We promptly walk out because what is the point of a reservation if you have to wait? And we didn’t know how long we would even be waiting for as it was jam packed and we had a movie to catch afterwards.. I don’t know if they don’t understand what a reservation means but it’s really unprofessional to lie to people like that who are counting on it. I understand it’s a popular holiday but come on, don’t be dishonest.

Having lived in Japan, I am familiar with Japanese cuisine. Sweet Mango serves fine, fresh and high quality sushi, that I have been enjoying for the last 9 years. Mandy and her family work very hard to provide an incredible, upscale dining experience. Likewise, I have seen the family's polite and very respectful children grow up, quietly studying. The key to Sweet Mango's success is their ultra fresh ingredients (which always remind me of being in Japan), as well as their warmly welcoming and attentive staff.
Southington and the state of Connecticut are extremely lucky to have such an excellent restaurant.

Food is good however their service is severely lacking. Went in for a pick up order and was ignored by waitresses who passed by me several times without so much as a glance. Waited 8min before having to get the attention of a waitress who was on her phone in the back corner counter. When I asked if she can help me with a pick up order she dismissed me and said “she’ll be right up” and went back to playing on her phone. The food may be the only reason I’d give them a second chance.

See photos. It’s hard to get a good photo but it’s clearly a rolled up roly-poly that’s been cooked. Disgusting, makes me question how clean their kitchen is!!

Original review: My new fave place for Asian food! Even my husband loved it and he’s more of a “steak and potatoes” or pizza guy. He said his side chicken was a little dry (overcooked) but not enough to warrant a 4 star. Some dishes have sugar so be sure to mention it upon ordering if you are diabetic. I had a veggie dish, and it was yum. I think it’s hard to make dishes that are veggie based taste great because there’s only so much you can do, but I would recommend and have again! The portions are huge. You’ll most likely leave with leftovers. There was so much on the menu to choose from, and another reason to come back!

This place has some of the best sushi in the state!! My favorite is the Paradise Roll, it is outstanding!!! I highly recommend this restaurant for incredible sushi!! I am a fan for life!!!! For dessert try the warm sweet rice and fresh mango!

Sushi Chefs were super nice! They welcomed me in and served me up the best sushi I have had in CT. Love this place!

Literally my favorite sushi place. I know people who travel over an hour to come here. The food is amazing and the drinks are even better!!

I ordered Massaman curry which is supposed to have potatoes in it, but instead of potatoes, they used French fries. Literally French fries… no, just no. That and our waitress kept rolling her eyes and looked annoyed every time we asked her for something.

Best General Tso chicken I've ever had. Packed with flavor and just the right amount of heat. Ingredients noticeably fresh and high quality. A must get!

Not best in world but good for Connecticut.

Take out was disappointing. I actually feel they thought I didn’t leave a tip since I paid with a card but left a cash tip in the jar and proceeded to hold that against me. I watched them pack up three other orders while I waited. Was about to let them know I was leaving and at that point they packed up my order. All the items had been sitting in front of me for the 20 plus minutes I was waiting after my pick up time.

This is one of my absolute favorite places in the area. I live in Chicago now but every time I come home to visit I have to go here! Mandy the owner is one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. The food, drinks, and service are incredible! I highly recommend this place!!

Good food. I had the orange chicken. Very good. Very garlicky. I cannot rate their sushi as I have never had it.

I can't say enough good things. Mandy and the entire staff are so attentive and the food is amazing!! We try to go atleast once a week because it is totally worth it. Mandy goes above and beyond to ensure our party is taken care of and gives awesome recommendations. I highly recommend them

Delicious Thai cuisine.

It's Saturday night at 9 pm and you order a boat sushi for 2 and a side of hibachi fried rice. The boat promised 12 pieces of sushi(never saw 12) and 18 pieces of sashimi(there was more than 18) I've had better sushi at a buffet. The fried rice was made with frozen veggies. The atmosphere was going for a nice relaxing piano playing music on the speakers. Only to be interrupted by children running around playing music on their phones at high volumes. At first I thought maybe the kids ran off from their table and were just being kids. Then I come to see that the kids were the workers children. Kids will be kids but I came to a restaurant to eat and enjoy my experience. I ate and experienced the most unsatisfying moment of sushi bliss. I stopped by a fast food place to have a mediocre meal seeing as how the sushi was appalling. You may have gotten my money but never again. Good luck to the owner.

By far the Best Sushi anywhere

Mostly really good experience, loved the atmosphere, service and most of the meal was great, but we thought their fried rice was pretty generic/ mediocre , and the desert ee ordered were frozen in the center.

I had the gyoza yesterday and I'm still unable to think about anything else they were so delicious. I don't even like dumplings usually. More balanced and detailed the decor is nice, the plating of the food is beautiful and the service is excellent. If your in the area you owe it to yourself to give sweet mango a try :)

The best sushi!

Well… It was good until it gave me food poisoning. I was violently sick for over 24 hours after eating from here, I couldn’t even hold water down. I work in a doctor’s office. I know food poisoning and this was it. Sorry but we will not be back and I don’t recommend sushi from here if that’s your thing.

The thai curries here are so good. I don't eat sushi but I love seeing what others get because the presentation is amazing. They have very reasonable prices too, especially the lunch specials.

Fried hibachi rice tastes like it was made in toilet water. Quality of steak and shrimp hibachi is average. Shrimp tempura roll was good and the caterpillar roll was excellent. All in all it's not what it's made out to be. There are plenty of other comparable "Japanese" restaurants around.

This place has become so popular over the last couple of years for their sushi. Literally drive out of.my way to come here whenever I get the chance. Food is always fresh and sushi is on point. Cannot recommend this place enough. But dinner time will be a wait even with a reservation as this place is so popular.

1. Why is there romaine lettuce in my kani salad?
2. The lettuce was brown and rotten…Questioning the cleanliness of the kitchen. Won’t be ordering here again

Sweet Mango has consistently delivered delicious food coupled with excellent service. After moving out of town a couple of years back, it had been some time since we’d eaten here. We recently had the chance to visit and we were reminded about just how great their food is. I had the tuna tataki and a sushi and sashimi combo. My wife had the sea bass. Everything was fresh and tasty. Mandy and Lynn are always welcoming and make you feel welcome.
We won’t wait so long to return next time.

Appetizers were very well cooked and flavorful. Calamari, crab Rangoon and gyoza, Kani and seaweed salad. Table ordered 8 sushi rolls- nice presentation and fresh. Servers were great but there was decent wait time between food arrival. Will be back!

This is a small restaurant. There is very little parking. However, the food is delicious. My grandson wanted Sushi before he left for college. The sushi was presented beautifully in a boat. I had chicken hibachi with soba noodles. It was delicious and I took home half. The service is great. I have an onion allergy and they were careful to make my meal safely. The atmosphere is busy as families are talking as they enjoy dinner.

By far the most consistent sushi in Central CT. It's our go to spot, that never fails!

Came here for our anniversary. The waitress made us sit and wait without any menus. She put 3 other customers that came after us and greeted them really nicely and gave them their menus while we waited still for our menus. The same waitress looked at us, saw us waiting, and she still ignored us and got the menus to put on another table. FYI the other customers were all white, except us. It felt like she didn’t want to serve us. We decided to walk out after about 15 min and my husband decided to let the person know in the front. He seemed like he didn’t care. Ruined my anniversary day with this experience.

Sweet mango never disappoints with sushi or Asian fusion food. Most of the dishes are obviously made in House as opposed to defrosted in deep fried adding a special level of delicious flavor. Staff is amazing, friendly, and helpful. This is our go to spot to go out for Asian fusion style cuisine.

The duck app was very good. All the sushi was good as well. The entrees we had lacked a bit of flavor but were good overall.

Let me start off by saying this place rocks. I had my mothers 60th birthday dinner here and we had a party of 13. The moment we walked in they took such good care of us and were super friendly. The food was amazing and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great meal and time. Thank you for accommodating my party at such short notice. Much love ❤️

This was my first time here, so I ordered my standard test sushi and they passed. The salmon and the yellowtail were very fresh, they both had good color and texture. The eel was cooked nicely and the avocado was perfectly fresh. I recommend trying this place if you are in the area.
