Aroy Thai Garden is the newest plant-based restaurant in town. From our kitchen to your plate, we have spent years perfecting our own unique plat-based recipes that capture the essence of traditional Thai cuisine and taste just as authentic, using fresh ingredients, and a blend of aromatic herbs and spices.
The food is amazing!! The owner is so sweet and only wants you to love her food and you taste that love in every bite. She has perfected the flavors of all the dishes! It’s a beautiful place to dine in. The servers are so kind and check frequently to be sure you have what you need. I wish I lived closer because I’d be there way more.
Update 10/23/24: We visited Aroy Thai for a second time, and I think I’m even more impressed! This time we made sure to try some of the appetizers, and I found some of my new favorite menu items! The fried wontons were incredible, and I absolutely loved the beautiful purple color of the fresh dumplings. The crispy pork belly might be even better than real pork belly, and the yum Kai sabb was so flavorful. This night was quieter than our first visit and we found the service to be great.
Original: This was our first time going to a completely vegan Thai restaurant, and we were very impressed! It’s nice that Thai cuisine is already so veggie-heavy and uses coconut milk in a lot of its curries and sauces, so it was easy to adapt. I couldn’t believe the variety of plant-based proteins that were offered - it’s not every day you see vegan shrimp, duck, and crispy pork offered on a menu! Everything was so tasty, with our favorites being the Khao Soi and Tom yum noodles without soup. Even on a busy Tuesday night, the service was great. This is a fantastic spot to know about in downtown Middletown!
Went 12/01 for take out. Ordered Tom Yum soup and was offered a choice of protein. I chose shrimp. The wait for the soup was over 30 minutes and when I got home I discovered what an absolute terrible mess it was. They didn't even put shrimp in it! Instead I got some disgusting fishcake knockoff in a broth that tasted nothing like Tom Yum. The vegetables also seem to be a total chaotic mess of whatever they had around the kitchen. I've included pictures since the entire $22.00 mess went down the drain then into the trash. This is not Thai food. Go to Typhoon or Pho 170 if you want real Tom Yum, this place does not have it.
I came here back in July with my friend. I won’t lie, I was a little skeptical because the menu is all vegan. But, I was not disappointed at all! To start, I had a Thai Iced Tea and my friend had Thai Coffee. It was my first time having something like that and it was so good!! For our appetizer, we had fried dumplings and OH MY GOD. They were amazing, I could not believe they were vegan. For my entree I had tom yum noodles and she had pad thai. Both were so good! It was so flavorful. I enjoyed this place more than the other thai places I’ve tried. Our server (i think he was the owner actually) was so nice! We had a good time and I would definitely come here again.
We went in and were surprised the place was all vegan! With that being said everything was still delicious! We got the fresh spring rolls with “shrimp” it tasted like real shrimp! My husband got their Pad Thai and that was really good too. But what was the BEST was the Khao Soi! Hands down the best one I had so far in the States. Their Thai Ice was also good! They make it with homemade soy milk! Keeping it vegan!
This restaurant deserves to succeed. The food is full of flavor and the portions on entrees are awesome!
Update: The staff have gotten more familiar with the menu and offerings and service is phenomenal. Everyone is knowledgeable about ingredients, allergens, and the speed of service has greatly improved over the past year.
The menu is huge. It's been refined and updated frequently. There's always someone new to try!
The dining atmosphere feels dated, but not offensive or dirty so it was perfectly fine for my family. It is quite a large restaurant. Half of it is blocked off with chairs during the slower times. Not the best appearance but I get why they do it.
This sounds like a rant but I'm nitpicking. The food and people are super nice and genuinely want you to have a great meal. The food lived up to the hype, and my family had a great time. We will certainly be back again in the future and wish the new owners the best of luck! We're so happy to see another fully vegan restaurant in CT!
I was surprised to see a fully vegan Thai place and this was on my list for a while. We were not disappointed - everything is completely vegan, and they have lots of options. I really loved the tofu pockets and the gluten free dumplings! They noodles were great but I do wish they had more veggies! I would definitely go back.
These people litterally used frozen or fake chicken I don’t know what that was but I couldn’t eat it!! Unreal !!
I'm not vegan, but I love this place. The food and service are excellent!
Absolutely amazing food!

Amazing Food & Great Service
My wife and I come here regularly, exceptional food, exceptional service, lovely atmosphere.
One of my favorite places. Food is always amazing and service as well. No complaints at all!
They used to be a regular Thai restaurant, but they have since rebranded to a vegan Thai restaurant. There are a lot of vegan "meats" that are actually pretty good. Prices range from $15 to $20 for an entree. And it was BYOB when I went.
Food was really good overall but the stir fried rice came out a little wet :)
Great Thai restaurant whether you’re vegan or not (I’m not). Everything was delicious!
Spectacular experience! I highly recommend giving them a try if you are looking for authentic Thai food.
As soon as we walked in the server was kind of confused as why we were there he told us to sit then we waited and waited for menus I ended up getting the menus here comes by a little later and says oh I see you found the menus. it's a vegan restaurant but why do they refer to food as Chicken shrimp and beef like why are you offering it to me if you don't serve it they use Windex with ammonia to clean the tables so you're trying to eat and you smell all that disgustingness it was the weirdest restaurant experience I've ever had what I had which were the spring rolls were absolutely amazing
Update::: what happened? We were so disappointed last time . My khao soo didn’t come with any veggies or garnish, prices have gone way up and quality has gone down sadly 😢 we used to have no problem driving an hour because we would leave happy.
edited: seriously, my favorite restaurant in the state currently. thank you! your food is so fresh and amazingly delicious. Friendly workers, and such a great vibe. I haven't found a Khao soi anywhere since I stayed in Thailand. Love this place!
It took an entire hour to get our meals. We had to ask twice for napkins and utensils. The building was freezing cold. The food was mediocre. We will never go there again.
I am vegan and truly want to love this place, but it is a disappointment every time. The service is just terrible. I have been here multiple times and ONCE I got service from someone who knows how to be a server. Cold food being served in this restaurant is common. It has now happened multiple times to us. I got the General Tso tofu and it was inedible, basically hoisin sauce is what it tasted like. We got edamame and there were pieces of food from other dishes in it. This was the last time for me! I hope the owner gets a restaurant manager.
The food was fantastic. Everyone was incredibly friendly and it is a must try!! You’ll thank me later.

great curry broth, but their prices went up too much. Why charge extra to add tofu as a protein to your dishes? Charging extra for the premium protein is one thing but this is just insulting.
edit: taking one star away because they keep messing up my orders and it looks like this keeps happening to other people too. Get it together because Typhoon is cheaper!
Got take out tonight and it was amazing!!! Everything was delicious!
The service is unacceptable (specifically for take out, can’t say anything for dine-in). This is the third or fourth time I’ve waited at least double the stated wait time and the second time I’ve walked out without my order because I couldn’t wait any longer.
I ordered at 510, was told it would be 25 minutes. Knowing they run late, I didn’t even go in until 545. Was told another 5 minutes. By 6 o’clock I left, because my husband’s food from another restaurant nearby was getting ruined as I waited for mine. When the manager came to void my transaction as I’d already paid for the order, she didn’t apologize or even speak to me at all. The hostess/waitress at the counter was very kind and apologetic but there was nothing from the manager (owner?).
The food itself is fine, but I can’t possibly waste my time ordering here again. They are regularly and reliably late to an excessive amount.
I love this place because the food is great. Service could use improvement. 1 person for all the tables in the restaurant.
Ordered takeout from Aroy, first time having it, got the whole order mixed up. We order one curry spicy and one not- both were spicy. They completely forgot BOTH rice additions for the curry. The chicken in the pad thai is this spongey, almost tofu-like chicken.
They did offer to drive the rice to us, which we said yes- and then they said oh well let us comp an appetizer next time. So nice that they offered but then they didn't come through on that.
Excellent food and service!
Love Thai food, love vegetarian food, didn’t love Aroy Thai. Flavor of the food was dull, basic, sub par, fair at best. The decor was odd. They had a mini souvenir shop and mannequin dressed in traditional garb. Our server was more interested in hearing himself speak, than he was to listening to what we were trying to order. A major turn off. It’s a bummer. We drove an hour to check it out and had high hope, but alas will not be going back.
O.M.G!!!
We drove up from Waterford because we were craving some yummy Thai food and have heard amazing things!
I am so glad we came!! The food was AMAZINGGGGG!!! As a foodie, the portions were generous for the price which the prices are great and affordable!
Josh was our server and he was very friendly and bubbly! We had a great evening, THANK YOU!!
RUN, DON'T WALK TO ARROY THAI GARDEN!!!!!! Make sure to follow them on social media as well! 😁
Aroy Thai Garden continues to grow and evolve into an absolutely first-rate eatery with beautifully and thoughtfully crafted food. Always delicious! The owner/chef is remarkably accommodating and warm, and the staff is attentive and helpful. They leave no doubt how wonderful plant-based food can be and the way they prepare and present it is an art.
One of my favorite places to eat! The owner is the sweetest lady and her food is fresh and colorful and tasty! Even if you aren’t vegan you will love the food
Very good food. Very kind owner.
Food is always AMAZING, employees are so wonderful, they are so helpful with any dietary restrictions you have and it’s so nice to have such a wonderful vegan restaurant in middletown
I can not say enough wonderful things about this restaurant. Every item I’ve tried was delicious beyond expectation and you really can’t beat the owner. She is such a lovely person, makes almost all if not all, from scratch.
My only problem ordering from here is that I want every single dish! This restaurant is a dream come true for vegans. You can bring your omnivore friends too and they will love it just much.
My super favorites are the crab Rangoon, any of the specials, and the oyster mushrooms.
Go. You will not be disappointed.
Year later Update: do not waste your money!! Decided to give them a second chance after an order mess up and super long wait time from the mess up. The next time trying to go they forgot an item and never replaced it and the delivery service is awful and a great way to get your money stolen! Do not offer delivery thru their website. And the portion size has gone down while the price is going up. For $19 for noodles you could maybe fill the container at least. And paid an extra $2 for tofu on top and never got the tofu in the noodles. Just a waste of money and they do not care to replace the items not included. I will absolutely not go back. Everything is so expensive now it’s so frustrating to not get the items ordered.
Such good food definitely a great place to go. I’m so glad for an all vegan Thai place
Great environment and service but the food was not the best for its price I was expecting a little better quality from an all vegan restaurant. Their dessert is good though.
Don't go anywhere else, best food and service in New England. No better Thai food anywhere!

I’ve always loved Thai food, especially because they offer so many great choices for people who don’t eat meat. When I tried Aroy Thai Garden, they completely blew me away! The food is next-level delicious! and the best part is they are 100% vegan, and even my non-vegan friends love their dishes. I’ll definitely be going back and supporting this awesome place.
Had amazing time. All food was tasty with the correct spice level. Staff was very attentive by answering our questions and adjusting to our needs. The best part was the mango bingsu desert by none other than Lapat at the end to cool everything down. Give this place a chance you won't be disappointed.
I’m giving this restaurant one star because I can’t give it no stars. Last night my husband and I stopped there to get dinner prior to a movie. We ordered our meal first and because we had to wait even though we were not planning on having appetizers, we ordered two appetizers. When I asked the waitress to bring us a box for the appetizers, she brought the check over. I was a little confused because we had not yet had our dinner. She said she did not hear our dinner order although that’s the first thing we ordered. At this point we only have 20 minutes to make it to the theater and we have not had dinner. Which is why we stepped in there to begin with. As you can imagine, we were very upset. I asked to speak with the manager Josh. He quickly came over. I explained the situation. He proceeded to tell me that he could discount the appetizers, but he couldn’t do much more because he wanted to make sure that we were not taking advantage of them. This was extremely upsetting seeing that now we’re being insulted on top of not being service properly. He also told me that the waitress was there way before him and that she’s pretty good. Meaning he did not believe that we placed our dinner order. Which was the main purpose of us going to the restaurant to begin with. I have never been to a restaurant where a waitress forgets to place or may I say better that she did not hear us order it. The restaurant was not crowded or noisy, so I’m not sure what she was listening to when we placed the order. All in all I do not recommend this restaurant. They are not at all attentive. The curry puffs were overcooked and the spring rolls were regular nothing to write home to mother about.
Love it
Ridiculous wait time. We walked in with a party of four at 1:30 and food was not on the table until 2:50! It was not even a busy time at the restaurant.
This restaurant deserves to succeed. The food is full of flavor and the portions on entrees are awesome!

Truthfully a delightful place. Everything was incredibly flavorful, options were plentiful, everything came out fresh and delicious. I cannot reccomend this restaurant enough. Service was fantastic excellent and well experienced.
Phenomenal! So so good! The best Thai food we've ever had. Highly recommend for everyone! The fried pork belly is amazing!!
Food is amazing.
I have been coming to Thai Garden since 1993. I had been numerous times a year until the pandemic (it's over an hour drive for me but no other Pad Thai or Vegetable Tempura has ever compared to theirs (best Thai Iced Tea as well-looked so forward to it every time I went) Anyway hadn't been since ownership changed because I was convinced it wouldn't stand up original TG. Finally went back for birthday as it had been a tradition for years. Never again. I understand what they are trying to do and I applaud them for that. I however want my old TG back. Feeling very nostalgic for the greatness that it once was.
I was surprised to see a fully vegan Thai place and this was on my list for a while. We were not disappointed - everything is completely vegan, and they have lots of options. I really loved the tofu pockets and the gluten free dumplings! They noodles were great but I do wish they had more veggies! I would definitely go back.
this was a fever dream. strange, slightly frightening mannequins, a snow cone machine, and a generally dirty interior greeted us. the server was unfriendly while ordering takeout. the food tasted vaguely reminiscent of thai cuisine. thai food is naturally vegan? what happened? also, they forgot our dessert. whole thing was a bummer to say the least.
Great Thai food - very tasty. Ordered Spicy Basil lunch option. Highly Recommended
It's always PERFECTION when you visit Aroy Thai Garden for any meal. You can literally taste the LOVE in the food. Vegan or not, it's the best Thai you'll eat outside of Thailand itself!
This restaurant is a treat for all. All vegan menu, with every dish a treat for the senses. Beautiful plates with a symphony of flavor! So many unique items I have never seen offered elsewhere. I had the privilege of speaking with the owner/chef. She loves to make new creations. Everything is made in the kitchen (no prepackaged dumplings here!). So be prepared as some items may run out. Don't worry though, their menu is immense! Bring a friend as portions are very ample. I would say most entrees including the curries can be shared with 2 people and everyone will still be full. Bingsu is their shaved ice dessert (Thai Tea is my favorite flavor). One is also enough for two people. Not overly sweet with the texture of snow. Oh, and they do not fool around with spice. If you order a spice level 5, be prepared! One of less than a handful of CT restaurants willing to turn up the heat! But heat/spice is ALL flavors (not just a bunch of chili oil). So good! The restaurant is lovely for sit down meals. Call the restaurant directly to order take away. Worth every penny. Always satisfied whenever I come and I always go home with leftovers. I would give 10 stars if I could!
This is an amazing vegan restaurant. They offer a variety of vegan proteins that resemble chicken, beef, pork belly, duck and more. The sauces are very tasty and the amount of food is generous. I have been there multiple times with my husband, family and friends. Everyone so far has loved the food. The service can be a bit slow during the weekends but they have great service.
Notes on the Jungle Curry: it's a soup. They're really gonna make a soup and call it "curry" because it has the same spices. It's completely different from the gravy curries. Why then does it share the name? I wouldn't make a cake and call it a pie just because they're both round and have sugar in them.
The food here is so delicious! I love the Pad Thai and cream cheese wontons. I try to explore the menu a bit but can't help but order those almost every time. Super friendly staff and owner as well!
My recent vegan Thai date at Aroy Thai Garden in Middletown CT with TJ, Lilly, and Clara was an absolute delight! From flavorful curries to aromatic stir-fries, every dish was a culinary masterpiece. The extensive vegan options made it easy for everyone to find something they loved. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed evening with friends. The service was friendly and attentive, ensuring we had a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend Aroy Thai Garden CT for anyone craving delicious vegan Thai cuisine in a cozy atmosphere!

Food was great, staff friendly, highly recommend!
Great place for Thai food, and bonus stars for being a vegan spot. Loved the warm welcome, and accommodating attitude of the hosting staff, the services seemed a little slower than usual, but definitely worth waiting for the good food.
Ive been wanting to try this place for a very long time even made a special trip to Middletown for it. As a long time vegan im trying to wrap my head around how our dishes had literally no sauce for the huge mound of dry sticky white rice! Not even soy sauce was provided. Lukewarm to cold at best with about 15 mini candied balls of "duck & chicken" & dry cold undercooked broccoli. It didn't take long for the food to come out so why wasn't it hot? Not even warm. Literally room temperature.
I dont get it. It pains me to write anything negative about a vegan place but it was inedible. Waiter didn't seem to care at all that we didnt eat it. Sauces for appetizers were 100% sweet based syrup.
The cream cheese wontons were delicious and the fresh cracked mini- coconut beautiful and amazing.
I'm not a fan of the menu AI based so requires a phone & hard to read small print. No drink menu! Waiter didn't ask me if i wanted anything to drink till after I was served the meal and then rattled off a general overview that I coudlnt understand.
Love it 🌱 Food and service is great, unparalleled vegan options
This is one of my favorite vegan restaurants. Everything is so delicious and there’s so much to choose from! Customer service is always the best. I can come here with friends or with my children because it’s also family-friendly and that’s super important to me. Keep up the great work! 5 stars!
I got takeout lunch here, been dying to try it for awhile but I live an hour away and was waiting until I had to travel to Middletown. Wow! Really delicious fresh food. You can tell it’s made with love. I tend to eat mostly vegan but I am not fully, and anyone vegan or non vegan would enjoy this food greatly. The crab rangoons are better than real crab rangoons. I ate those on my long drive home and they were AMAZING. I loved the texture and the sauce, it was absolutely wonderful. The pad thai with tofu is nice and peanutty, I loved all the crushed peanut on top and the fresh bean sprouts, it was flavorful and just perfect on a raw day like today. Not greasy and I will get 2 meals out of it. And the mango sticky rice 🥰 unbelievably delish. I cant actually believe this is all vegan. Amazing job team! Also very very generous servings. I cant wait for my next trip to Middletown!
Strongly recommend. My 3rd time here with in 3 months. Delicious. Great service. Oyster mushrooms were fantastic and I love their red curry.
Went out with some friends, super amazing food. The food is so fresh and vibrant. Enjoyed the veggie tempura, crispy spring rolls and fresh springs. The spicy Thai basil stir fry was amazing. Such a great medley of fresh veggies and a light sauce. Service is friendly. Definitely recommend, awesome value.
The best Thai food I’ve ever had in my life. Period. The owner puts her heart and soul into the food and you can really tell because it’s absolutely out of this world. Vegan or not, you’ve gotta come here, you’ve gotta try it. My favorite is the sweet and fragrant panang curry with crispy roast duck.
The person taking the order was so rude , I walked OUT!
This restaurant was better under old management. The new restaurant is not properly staffed to support the volume and it shows in the quality of service and food. Food items are excluded and the seasoning is bland. Go to Typhoon on Main St or Asian Restaurant on Broad St if you are looking for Thai food in Middletown
The food here was absolutely amazing the atmosphere was comforting as the food and the service was excellent I would highly recommend this to anybody following a vegan diet and understand that they serve an entire vegan menu and know me at all except for vegan qualifying
My favorite restaurant in the world. The most amazing food, great atmosphere, it makes me so happy to have Thai classics veganized without sacrificing flavor. The best Thai food I’ve ever had, and the best vegan food I’ve ever had
This was the second time coming to Thai Gardens. First was back in April (on a Thursday) and now in February (on a Saturday).
Both times, had a incredibly long wait for the food. At first, I thought they needed more wait staff but now I'm thinking they need more chefs. I think only 3 people were working the restaurant (2 wait staff and one chef) both times. Total of roughly 11 tables. Looking at other tables, seemed like appetizers came out quick but the main meal took forever. We didn't order appetizers. As a party of 2, we were there for 2 hours and waited roughly an hour before the food came out.
Food itself was very good though it seemed their menu may have changed slightly this time as the Tom Yum noodles with soup had more noodles and bok choy this time. I like how they have gluten free options. Everything is vegan. Tastes good even for us who are non-vegan. But we're going to think twice about coming back due to the long wait time for food.
Delicious!!! If you're not sure about eating tofu, this place makes it so flavorful that you have to love it!
Hands down one of the best and tastiest restaurants in CT. The fact that this is 100% vegan is icing on the cake. Went with my parents who have dietary restrictions and restaurant was able to accommodate.
Absolutely love this place. Have gone for a sit down meal and gotten take out a few times. The food is phenomenal and the staff are super friendly. Best Thai food I’ve ever had for sure. And the fact that it’s all vegan is even better.
This place is AMAZING! My new fave restaurant. I can’t believe it’s all vegan- I was truly overwhelmed in the best way at the amount of options. The chef & owner came out to take our order and she was so sweet, accommodating, and passionate about the food. She even told us that if we didn’t like anything to please tell her so we made sure we loved our meals. We got the crab rangoons, wontons, pad see yew, and tom yum noodles. Everything was AMAZING! We also got mango sticky rice as this is something I always want but is hard to find vegan- it was delicious (as shown in the pic I dug in before even getting a photo)!!!! AND our meal was so affordable- we most definitely will be here again!
everything on the menu & every order i make is always so incredible here. drunken noodles with vegan chicken & all of the curry dishes they make are my absolute favorites. i also love how they ask what spice level you may want it and can adjust according to that!!!
My Wife and I have dined in and ordered too many times to count lol the food is delicious! We have tried the pineapple curry, mango curry, vegan crab rangoon, spring rolls, sticky rice, Thai iced tea, and the sticky rice with mango dessert. All amazing and great quality! The portions are generous and the staff is always friendly ❤️
A wonderful restaurant! There are so many options, it is so fun to try something new each time. The beef satay is a must try!
For New Year's Eve we ordered takeout from Aroy Thai Garden. While waiting for our food we loved the music and saw how well the staff handled customers in a very professional and caring manner. Even on such a busy holiday, the staff were still incredibly friendly, professional, and constantly kept us updated on the progress of our food. Our food was DELICIOUS!! We had Masaman Curry with Vegan Duck and Moo Krob. Both looked, smelled, and tasted phenomenal! As someone who can't eat Gluten or Dairy, it was such a treat to have so many options on the menu I could choose from! We will definitely be returning! Thank you Aroy Thai Garden!! Happy New Year!!
This is by far the best restaurant I have ever been to. It is a fully 100% vegan restaurant, I am not vegan but if you never told me it was vegan i would never know. The food is absolutely fantastic and the portions are huge. The staff is so friendly and eager to please and customize your dish to your liking. But the owner/chef, Lapat, is the best part of the whole place. She is so amazing and friendly. Always comes out to greet her customers when she has a spare moment. She is always wanting to be sure you have the best meal and will customize anything for you. I urge to to go try Aroy, vegan or not, you will not be disappointed and i promise you will want to go back again and again. I drive from New Haven to Middletown as often as my schedule allows to enjoy the most amazing meals as often as I can. Like I said vegan or not, GO!! Don't miss out on the best thai food in CT or probably the whole country. This is as authentic as you can get. And you will always leave with a bag full of leftovers because the portions are huge. Enjoy!! I know I will many more times!!
One of the best vegan options around and employees are so friendly and nice.
My family and I absolutely love this restaurant! The owner and staff are so friendly and welcoming, and the food is absolutely delicious! Will come back again and again!
It was the first time ordering from here for us. We ordered to go. Two different curries with tofu and fresh spring rolls. Generous portions with lots of vegetables. We ordered mild spice level and it was perfect, still spicy. The spring rolls were large and delicious. Although we didn't get any dipping sauce. I'm not sure if we were supposed to. We used some German brown mustard and that worked. We will definitely be back!
Simply AMAZING!!! I was so impressed with the flavors, freshness, and exceptional service! The owner is so delightful and you can tell all of the dishes are made with love! Our only dilemma was the menu is so extensive it was hard to choose what to order! However, we plan to go back enough times to try everything! I can’t wait to eat here again!
It’s so refreshing that this is a fully vegan restaurant. There are some really awesome new dishes! My main complaint about the food is that there isn’t enough vegan protein in any of the dishes I have tried. Please consider giving bigger portions of the protein choices in your dishes!
The salad that comes with some of the lunch specials is amazing! Never had anything like it!
Super tasty and I love the variety on the menu!
Amazing vegan menu options. Everything was delicious.
So thrilled to know there's another Vegan restaurant for my boyfriend and myself. Delicious fresh meal. Wonderful service, clean restaurant. We'll be back for sure.
The atmosphere at Aroy Thai Garden is friendly and welcoming. The owner makes you feel special and she is so attentive to her customers. I will use words like “duck” and “chicken” but know that everything is all vegan and 100% cruelty free 🧡♥️💜
We brought non vegan friends and they absolutely loved the food. We got it all!!
Appetizers; crab rangoon, chicken satay, pork belly, tofu pockets, butterfly flour dumplings (all amazing!)
Entrees; crispy teriyaki duck, shrimp with coconut soup and veggies, drunken noodles, won ton soup.
Desserts; coconut lichee cake, Thai tea soup, fried bananas with sesame and caramel sauce
And to drink, Thai iced teas.
We had zero complaints (one person didn’t like cilantro on things, that’s all)
This is our new favorite restaurant. The menu is very extensive and we can try something new every time we go there. The flavors and dishes are authentic and delicious. I highly recommend Aroy Thai Garden.
Thank you Lapat!!
Have gone here a few times, most recently for my birthday dinner with a bunch of friends. The food is amazing! Vegans and non vegans love it. Personally, I love the fresh dumplings, the drunken noodles, the khao soi, and all the desserts. The vegan duck is my favorite protein!
This restaurant is truly excellent. I've never had a dish here I wasn't impressed by. The fresh dumplings and wonton cream cheese are so good. My favorite entree is the Khao Soi, and the caramel banana dessert is so great. The service is fast and very friendly and I like the calm music and decor.
I realized that the majority of the low ratings for this place are because people are disappointed that it is not the Thai restaurant that used to be here or that it is vegan... That's hardly this restaurant's fault, and it doesn't actually give you any information about whether you would want to eat here. As somebody who is NOT a vegan or vegetarian, I'll tell you that this is one of the best restaurants around.
The best Thai food ever! Even if you're not vegan you'll love it! I can't wait to go back! I'm so thankful for this vegan restaurant.
I didnt tell my boyfriend it was vegan and ordered him yhe duck and he loved it he didnt even notice 😂
This used to be our favorite Thai restaurant, the owner changed and we still supported even with there being a slight change in the dishes (how they tasted) not sure if it's the same owner that took ot over but now its a completely VEGAN restaurant. This is beyond disappointing, I have yet to find a Thai restaurant I loved as much as the original Thai Garden. This is beyond upsetting, the sweet and sour chicken was so good :(
Creative and unusual food (at least to a random American). Lots of room for families to eat. Tons of options, everything I’ve ever had from here tasted great. All vegan, but not weird, just Southeast Asian based.
My wife and I tried this restaurant because a friend recommended it. The food was delicious. Met the owner very friendly. Nicely decorated interior. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. Will be back soon.
We stumbled upon this place and I was jumping with joy that it's all vegan. I haven't had Thai food in a very long time and it was so comforting to know there wasn't going to be any surprise fish sauce in my food. We got the cream cheese wontons and they were to die for. Everything was fresh and very flavorful. Completely worth the hour drive we took. We will definitely go again.
👍👍👍👍
I would firstly, like to start off by saying that I first heard about this restaurant through a Facebook vegan group. I am so happy that I found this restaurant and I got to experience the food. The food was absolutely phenomenal. Our table had no issues or concerns. Everything was very delicious very tasteful and very satisfying. The atmosphere was very calm and relaxing.
The appetizers were amazing and they all had their own respective sauces which were all delicious!
I will say this was a 10/10 experience. If you enjoy vegan food I’d say absolutely go for it but also enjoyable if you are not vegan!
Edit : I will say that at this point I’ve been to this restaurant about 6x and always order the fried ice cream - one thing that I will say is that the presentation is never the same. It’s very inconsistent as sometimes the fried ice cream ball is smaller or bigger. And so is the presentation of the fruits on the plate. Would love to see more consistency in regards to this as it’s my favorite in any restaurant
It seems this restaurant had completely changed their menu to vegan style (or could it be entire management change as the name seems changed too). The food is really good, full of options for vegan. The deserts are nice too.

We came here again! Curry never loses 🤩
I think here already became the restaurant I want to let my family and friends try when they meet me ☺️☺️☺️
Everyone I bought here all said foods here are so delicious and they have comfortable seats and place to let us hang out!
This is the first time I had a meal in a restaurant and I am so glad that I chose this restaurant as my first experience!
I have to say I was surprised how big the food is and it is delicious and so spicy🤣 I ordered pumpkin curry with level 1 spicy and that was really spicy so I had a running nose while eating it 😆
We couldn’t finish the whole meal so we packed and took back home! We already decided we will be back again!
Allow me to preface this first, by saying if you are a vegetarian or vegan, this is the place for you.
I am not, and was not impressed by the mock meat in my dish. When I get Thai i typically always get some Tom Yom or Tom Kha soup. This place does not offer them outside of full meal sizes. When I asked for the dish "Thai hot," the waitress had no idea what I meant, easily corrected, but still made me worry for the quality. Like going to a Japanese restaurant and the server mispronounces the name of the restaurant.
The vegetables in my curry were sliced very thick and were rather under-cooked. Not a large problem bit noticeable. Also noticeable was the music which is a single song on a 2 minute loop.
Average, at best to me.
Best vegan food I have ever had!! The owner/chef came to talk to us and gave us such an appreciation for the effort that goes into the food. 10/10 recommend!
amazing food 10/10 they don't serve drinks so bring your own alcohol. really lovely restaurant though
Need to give a shout out to Aroy Thai Garden CT in Middletown. Amazing Thai food and vegan to boot. You would never guess with how masterfully each protein is handcrafted to resemble many types of meat. I took my girls night here and we enjoyed the dumplings, fresh spring rolls and dim sum appetizers. We shared the Pad Thai, Tom Yum noodles and a Red Curry entrees and the peanut butter binsu for dessert. Very reasonable and delicious. You can taste the love in each dish. What a gem we have here! I am so happy I love close enough to visit regularly.
We ordered three drunken noodle dinners. The food was absolutely horrible. The noodles were soggy, a dark purple color and very greasy. The chicken (tofu,) was over cooked and hard. The service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was nice but that’s all the nice things I can say.. I will never go back to this restaurant .. I am from out of town; any time that I’ve ordered from a Thai restaurant (drunken noodle) It has come and looked like the pictures I’ve seen above..but, that was not the case with this dinner. Waste of time and money. YUCK 🤢
First time visiting Aroy Thai on our way back up north from the beach... Everything was fresh, delicious, well seasoned and really good sized portions.
Highly recommend their homemade dairy free ice cream -- it's actually not too sweet which was perfect for me and the flavor was popping! We tried the green tea flavor
Also very affordable! Felt nutritious and healthy and full of energy afterwards. I think anyone would really enjoy the food whether you are vegan or not (provided you like Asian/Thai style food of course)
I look forward to coming back again and trying new dishes and ice cream flavors 😊 Honestly there are not a lot of great vegan spots around the area and it's a pleasure to find one like Aroy Thai. Thank you!
Welcome to Love Kitchen🔥🙏🔥
Me and my Hot Masala hunk husband decided to stop here after beach time. My husband hasn't eaten any animals his whole life even though he's a animal as I'm a rusty root animal myself. This was a treat to find a assortment like tons of vegan food with no animal ingredients.
Someone greeted us and explained it was a vegan restaurant because some people want to eat animals and they just want to let who ever comes in know so everyone can be happy and decide to either eat there or not. Two ladies came in after us and when the greeter told them it was all vegan the ladies left. Mad respect to respect.
We order like 3 appetizers which were cheese wonton, papaya salad and fresh spring rolls. Everything was great!! Portions were great and the waitress was accommodating. She was helpful and kind. We order 2 entrees, 2 side orders of sticky rice and for dessert green tea fried ice cream. Holy yummy Mary Mother of God! The prices were great and food is yummy for our round tummy. We will definitely return like Dorothy going back to Oz. I think we found the Vegan Emerald City. We as a community need to continue to support bussiness that are plant based and do care about the welfare of all living beings. THANK YOU AROY THAI GARDEN!!
The owner has a wonderful spirit and the food was amazing!
The food here is very tasty, and the portions big! They are fully vegan and have an extensive menu. I do not think they have a permit to sell alcohol. The one downside for me was the fact that service was quite slow, it took them about 20 minutes to take our drink order.
Great food presentation and everything was delicious. Only downside was that utensils weren’t brought out with the meal and had to ask for some. Staff were otherwise friendly and accommodating. They were clear upfront that it’s a vegan restaurant. Tried the vegan duck. Surprisingly had a duck flavor! The texture was certainly far from meat but it was very good.
Use to be really good, 1st back covid new menu, slow service, food was just OK at best ask for chicken instead the meatless seriously couldn't tell if it chicken or not.
Some of the best Thai food I've had! Their menu was great for those who don't eat gluten. I recommend the spring rolls and spicy basil! Dessert was also so delish and unique (we got the mango and sticky rice). Staff were very friendly. We will definitely be back!
The app "beef" satay is amazing, the pad Thai, and red curry with "duck" were also excellent and I love bok Choi so that dish is a fav too
I just began my vegan journey. I've read so many reviews and saw so many postings on this restaurant and was beyond excited to try it. I expressed this to our server and asked for some guidance on how to navigate the menu. Even showed her pictures online of plates others posted from this restaurant that i wanted to try. She seemed very annoyed about my questions. It appeared that her boyfriend was there visiting and thats all she wanted to get back too. The food was absolutely incredible, I am totally disappointed with the service.
After not visiting this establishment for over 10 years, I could tell the owner/ management had changed.
It was like a fresh breath of morning sunshine just walking into Thai Garden from Main St. in Middletown. I sat down, to have the waitress quickly bring me a menu and a tall glass of ice water with lemon.
I knew exactly what I wanted, so I ordered:
Thom Khar Soup , and a Thai Summer Roll.
The soup came and it was unusually laced with vegetables and gluten-free chicken substitute. An amazing aroma of lime, coconut , and cream came wafting up out of the bowl.
The first spoonfuls were delectable, hot, ladles of goodness.
The summer roll was an elegant array of colorful fresh ingredients inside a hearty rice paper wrap. Tearing into the first one was an exercise in twisting, biting, and chewing the goodies inside.
One can travel far, and not find an establishment with people and their food, so dedicated to their homeland of Thailand.
Stop into Thai Garden , and GO FOR IT!
Wow… just wow! Full disclosure, I’m making this post based on my first stop at this restaurant and on one meal. Did I say wow? Here’s my experience…. I was passing through Middletown, kind of in a hurry, during lunch time looking to stop at one of the great restaurants in the area before I had to meet someone in a short window of time. I chose this spot based on parking availability, and my love for Thai food. I sat quickly and ordered the green curry, and when the server asked for which protein, I said chicken. It was then pointed out that it was a vegan restaurant. I was offered the vegan version of chicken and I said yes. When my food arrived I was almost startled at the massive portion of steaming curry in front of me. I’ve ordered green curry at dozens, maybe over a hundred Thai restaurants, and this is easily my new favorite. The combo of complex flavors, variety of veggies, and heat level were perfect. Just as impressive, the fried tofu chicken alternative was better than any chicken I’ve had in a green curry. This was a pleasant surprise that I’ll now go out of my way to enjoy!
I would give it more stars if I could, the food is amazing. So delicious, fresh and tasty. Love it
The best Thai food we've had in Connecticut.
Amazing Fresh Dumplings! Surprise color, I won't tell. A must. Don't miss this appetizer.
Edit:
The management of this restaurant changed a few months back! This used to be our favorite restaurant. Now, the food tastes horrible, the service lacks. There are a bunch of kids running this eatery and they don't know a thing about restaurant business. Never going back! They ruined a good place!
We love this place! The food is fantastic and the service is the best! Very welcoming staff!
Just tried for the first time. Awesome food.
Gotta love a colorful lunch! We finally got to Aroy Thai Garden for lunch yesterday. I love great creative food and this certainly fit the bill. Flavorful well prepared and served with a smile. I can see why everyone raves about it. We ate the roti and “beef” satay appetizers before I thought to take a pic we also ordered steamed dumplings, drunken noodles and fried rice with tofu. We shared everything and enjoyed it all. My MIL came with us and she can’t wait to go back. Did I mention she’s not easy to impress?
Everything was phenomenal! We had no idea their menu was 100% vegan, we were blown away! We will definitely be back.
The food is amazing!
Dinner was great. The cucumber seaweed salad and vegan beef satay were the standouts for sure. We'll be back soon.
We have already been here three times since the new ownership, we absolutely love this restaurant!! The food is extremely flavorful and tasty. The menu is huge-- most vegan restaurants do not have such a large menu, so we are enjoying trying lots of different dishes. All the plant based protein options are awesome and you can add them on to any dish. The owner and chef is super sweet and friendly. If you are vegan--- you'll be in heaven. If you aren't vegan but you are open minded, you will be amazed at how delicious good vegan food can be !!!
The food is incredible. We have been here a handful of times since they’ve opened (both in person & takeout) and every time it’s been great. I highly recommended for Thai food, vegan or not! The menu is expansive, I can’t wait to try it all!
The food is absolutely delicious. I'm not a vegan but you don't miss any meat there. The staff is friendly and even though the decor could use a little sprucing up, I think they took it over a couple months ago. I'm sure they'll be updating soon. Like I said none of that matters when you taste the food, it's so flavorful and perfectly balanced. The prices were great too.
Aroy Thai Gardens has such delicious food, and the owner is so caring and wonderful! Don't miss this gem!
Great plant-based addition to Middletown!! The owner is wonderful and the food is terrific!
The place is pleasant and the service was very friendly and quick. I only went one time passing through town. No complaints about the appetizer, the curry puffs.
My main dish, pineapple fried rice, needs some work. I wouldn't say it was saucy but the texture was not like fried rice at most restaurants, it was quite soft and a bit mushy. The pineapple was piping hot and would be better served cold or room temp.
Apparently they are under new management and everything is now vegan, and I think people will be confused. Some meats are described as vegan and others are not, but apparently it's 100% plant-based. They list separate options for vegan beef and real beef. So are they offering six kinds of vegan protein and one that isn't? Or is the real beef not actually beef? Anyway whatever I ate, the vegan pork, was kind of soft and rubbery and did not taste much like the flavorful pork you expect in fried rice.
I also had some peanut sauce on the side, and what they serve is not like typical Thai peanut sauce. They have something very pale and creamy that is smooth and sweet but not very peanutty tasting. Then they have something that is like the sweet chili sauce with lots of ground peanuts mixed in. Neither is what you would expect with something like, say, chicken satay.
Lastly, the price seemed a little out of line. 30 bucks for the appetizer and fried rice. They have lunch specials where you can get any kind of fried rice for 10 bucks, but that doesn't include what I had, so probably they shouldn't call it 'any kind'.
Didn't realize we were in a vegan restaurant till we sat down. Protein options are fake meat, all upcharged well above and beyond vegetables should cost. Presented on the menu as real meat. One waitress was clueless and terrible, and every time she spoke we lost confidence in the menu and the establishment. She showed us a plate of overcooked bok choy with a pile of brown Styrofoam in the middle that was called duck coming out of the kitchen. It was frightful to the point we paid for the drinks and left. It would of been $19 after the upcharge for that plate of broken dreams.
Went to the Nepalese place across the street, the chicken momos were fantastic, hightly recommended.
But as far as this place goes, this restaurant has a sickness. The decor is hideous, the food is a joke, and the staff may have fetal alcohol syndrome. This is not monks food by any stretch. Whomever is running this place is not only clueless, but greedy. They clearly dont eat at their own restaurant and have no idea how to operate a food service establishment.
Will be a miracle if it survives to the end of the year.
1st time going back since ownership has changed. The old Thai gardens was the best in the state for Thai food. This place is way off the mark. Our wonton appetizer was cold and the middle was extra cold and mushy like it was cooked from frozen. Ordered drunken noodles and pad Thai with peanut sauce. Peanut sauce was very wrong. Looked like sweet sauce with chopped peanuts on top in a crumble layer instead of a smooth consistent texture like at normal places. Drunken noodles were a little bland. Entire menu is vegan imitation even though the add protein section says beef duck or chicken. Added duck thinking it was real duck the way its worded. Charged 3 bucks for fake meat. We were the only 2 dishes being cooked. 1 other table in the restaurant had people at it and they already ate, but our food came out 5 minutes separate instead of together. Won't be back. Had high hopes of the restaurant making a come back but it was a let down.
Seriously delicious vegan thai food! Super beautiful restaurant. My mom and i loved everything we tried. Our favorites were the blue dumplings and this a tempura vegetable stir fry (I forget the name). The fried pork belly app was good flavor, but not as meaty as we expected, but we enjoyed trying it. The green curry portion was massive!
Our second visit was even better!!! The Pork wontons are amazing. The tom yum noodles w chickn was my favorite, it’s unlike anything i’ve ever had before! The chicken on its own was a little chewy, but great in the dish. the duck was amazing, we had it in the duck teriyaki dish, and the duck red curry. I prefer the red curry over the green curry! The mango sticky rice and Roti desserts were the perfect level of sweetness. The roti is a fried bread stuffed with banana and the coconut sauce is delicious. Also loved the Thai Iced Tea, i haven’t had a vegan one in years!! It was the best meal ever. The owner came out and she was so sweet.
Just a heads up, this restaurant’s management has changed a couple months ago and the menu is now 100% vegan. Normally I wouldn’t mind this as I don’t mind vegan food, but I was slightly taken aback.
While the food wasn’t bad per se, it didn’t live up to the food the previous iteration of this restaurant in my opinion. I had the drunken noodles with vegan chicken. The noodles were good, but the vegan chicken seemed like an after thought — it didn’t really blend with the rest of the dish. I think they cook the “meats” separately and then add them on top at the end. My partner ordered the panang curry with vegan pork, but apparently it wasn’t panang, just a red curry. The dish was also missing eggplant as it was advertised. We were both a bit underwhelmed by the food, given that we used to love this restaurant.
On the positive side, our server was very sweet. I felt bad for her though as she was the only one really waiting tables and it was a busy Friday night.
The first vegan restaurant I’ve ever been to - absolutely amazing food. Ordered pad thay
Edit below
I have been here and the past and was excited they reopened. I called to place an order and the American girl on the phone fumbled placing the order (which was $12 more then it used to be) then said I can’t place a pick up order without paying over the phone. Which is BEYOND SKETCHY. She refused to place the order without me verbally giving her my card number over the phone. Absolute joke since she my could have just written my card number and information down. Will NOT be giving them my business with the new ownership/
EDIT: I did end up trying it. They are completely vegan (obviously not the same) I even ordered chicken and they charged me extra but just sent a box of fried chicken flavored tofu and didn’t tell me I wasn’t getting meat. It wasn’t bad for vegan, just not what I thought I was getting. So sad that yet another Middletown staple is gone.
I have been there multiple times. I have had the most amazing food experience here at Aroy Thai Garden. Everything on the menu is worth the try. I highly recommend the food experience. I can't wait to go back.
Delicious take-out! So many choices and our non-vegan diners loved it too. Looking forward to dining in.
Authentic food with fresh ingredients! The Tom Yum soup was incredible with fresh veggies and so flavorful. The pad Thai with crispy pork was crisp and delicious. If they hadn’t told me it was tofu, I wouldn’t have known. Highly recommend. The staff and chef were lovely and made accommodations for my Dad and his diet restrictions. They were so kind!
Ordered online, picked up with minimal wait, all food was great!! Big portions. Excited to have a great vegan option on my drive home from work!
This was our favorite local Thai restaurant and I'm very sad to say that that's changed. It's "under new management" and, unfortunately, it's simply not as good.
The positives: they've taken a niche approach and the menu now consists of vegan dishes and many gluten free options. There are some great new appetizers and some new dishes that look like they might be worth a try.
The negatives: our old favorites just aren't even close. The Pad Thai now consists of just noodles and Thai basil. Not even any tofu. And, bizarrely, the noodles were chopped up into little pieces. The Panang Curry used to be full of different veggies and proteins, and now it's only 1 (some kind of green tomato type thing). The Pad See Ew is dry and bland.
It looks like we're in search of a new local favorite.
Never got to eat. Servers had no training. None. Acted like they had never even been a customer in a restaurant before. 1/2 hour to get water after two requests. But they had time to socialize! (Delivering food to the table next to us: "I wish I could tell you what this is, but I have no idea")
Menu is completely vegan, so references to "pork steak, chicken fish," etc. are references to imitation meat.
No appetizer menu.
No kids menu
No liquor license, and they refused byob " because they don't have a liquor license". Um, yeah? Ergo the byob?
After an hour and 15, greasy noodle chips brought out.
We left after an hour and 45 minutes having learned the kitchen had not even started our order. Only 8 patrons were served food in the time we were there. We went across the street to the Pho place and had hot food on the table 16 minutes after arriving.
Give them a year. If they are still there they might have figured some things out by then.
I cooked professionally for 10 years and had nights from hell too, so am reluctant to criticize, but this team has a big learning curve ahead. i wanted to go back there and help them. I really felt sorry for them.
Absolutely love this place. Chicken Thai fried rice 3 stars every time. But all of their food is delicious
Needed a place to grab dinner while in town, and Thai Gardens did not disappoint! I can confidently say that this restaurant offers some of the BEST food I've ever had in my life...the panang curry is a must try!
We finished the meal off with the mango sticky rice, and it's now become one of my favorites. Not to mention that the staff here were all so kind and attentive, which made our experience that much better! Couldn't recommend this place enough...I will definitely be back!
First time trip. Service was very speedy and we both felt like the food was tasty and fresh. 10/10 would come back.
This place is amazing. Great Thai food and the staff is very friendly.
Delicious food, very friendly staff, food came out quickly. Lovely dining room and good for takeout too
Very good costumer service I order pho soup and only wrong think for me was sausage in my soup
We ordered take out on a busy Friday night. The wait was not long and the food was so fresh. You can taste all the fresh ingredients. This is the best experience and service I’ve had in a long while with any restaurant. Thank you guys so much!
The food was amazing! We shared the appetizer platter and that was fabulous! Every delicate item was cooked to perfection, the fried foods light and crispy. We also shared a red curry which was one of the best I have ever tasted.
One of my favorite local Thai spots. Curry is great, and their salads are always fresh and delicious. Try their coconut sticky rice w/ mango for a sweet treat.
A gem in Middletown. Traditional Thai food, flavorful and delicious.
Took an out of town friend here for lunch. I noticed that there was a new expanded menu. I always loved this spot and found out today it’s under new management. The service was amazing (kept my water glass full A+) and somehow could anticipate our needs before we spoke. Wow. The servers were so warm and welcoming. The food was excellent and have to say the presentation has been elevated a few notches. My friend said it was probably the best curry he’s had in a long time. My old favorite was delicious, too. The dessert of mango and sticky rice was presented so artistically I almost didn’t want to eat it. I would give this place a 5/5 stars. Im glad the new management has not only sustained its quality but has surpassed it. I can’t wait to come back.
Ordered red curry and it was so damn good. Amazing food!!!!! I wish I found this place earlier, this is my new go to spot
Good Thai food, always delicious!
Delicious food with tons of vegan options. Very friendly staff and good service!
