Was very impressed by Star Thai and will definitely be back again!

Quality - delicious! Was very impressed by the flavors. Especially loved the red curry chicken (ordered medium)! Great flavor profile, lots of meat & veggies. Drunken noodles had a bit of a smoky (almost burned?) flavor I hadn’t experienced before, but was good nonetheless.

Portion sizes - a bit smaller than your average Thai restaurant, but so are the prices! I’d say sizes are fair for the price.

Spice levels - proceed with caution! Saw mixed reviews on the spice levels. I have a decent spice tolerance and the hot drunken noodles was at the upper end of my enjoyable spice limit.

Some of my favorite dishes include the Larb and Papaya Salad, which are always fresh and flavorful. I usually don’t enjoy Pad Thai, but theirs is the only one I’ve found that I genuinely love—it’s perfectly balanced and so tasty. The Thai Fried Rice and Panang Curry are also standout dishes, each packed with bold and satisfying flavors.

And don’t skip dessert! Their Mango Sticky Rice is a must-try—sweet, creamy, and the perfect way to end the meal.

What an absolute gem! This place is a hidden secret and I absolutely loved it. Went with my wife and a couple friends and we had great service, amazing food, and the dining area is really cozy. I recommend getting the Thai coffee, very sweet and rich. Will definitely be coming back.

This was takeout for a group of old friends and sadly it was such a disappointment. Also FYI, they must have raised their prices from the website's price list because it came out to about $7 dollars more than what those prices (plus tip) were calculated. I don't recommend.

If you like Asian food you must try this place. The food was really good and the behaviour of the person was also nice. We ordered Thai ice tea, Pad Thai noodles with chicken, Star Thai noodles with shrimp and Steamed dumplings. Everything was yamm, specially the Star Thai noodles. The place was not crowded and serving time was good too.

A very quaint hole in the wall Thai restaurant. It's a very pleasant change of scenery from the usual hustle and bustle of the surrounding Lakewood area.

I ordered some appetizers on my way home from running errands and was not disappointed. Their Tom Yum is very authentic and was the closest to true Thai hot I've ever had in Colorado. The spring rolls were very flavorful and came with a delicious in house peanut sauce that's much better than your average thai peanut sauce.

The atmosphere is very calming, there are only about 6-7 tables in the restaurant with soft lighting, traditional decoration and a TV. It's quiet and gentle with a vintage and foreign feel to it, like you're almost in another country itself. It's a small mom and pop business and it feels very welcoming because they are very nice.

Like everyone else has said, the prices are cheap, averaging $7/plate, and the portions are relatively sized to the low prices. However, still very filling. I will definitely be coming back soon to try the curry and their other entree dishes in the near future.

The Siamese Noodles with chicken, Tofu Pad Thai and Pineapple fried rice with shrimp were all delicious!

Great affordable thai food! You won't go wrong supporting your local thai business :) keep this place alive!

Very mediocre.

This is a takeout-only establishment, so the "atmosphere" category doesn’t apply. However, for the "service" category, I’m giving them a full 5-stars. The service was fast, friendly, and efficient with no issues or complaints. They truly excel in this department. The gentleman behind the register was super sweet, nice guy.

Now, let's dive into the food. First, the good news. In terms of taste, the dishes were indeed very flavorful and delicious. The medium heat had a good kick to it, which might be considered "hot" by the standards of other local Asian-cuisine restaurants. The crispy eggrolls (three per order) were among the best veggie eggrolls I've had, far surpassing the usual bland, soggy versions offered elsewhere. Both my dad and brother commented on how soft and fluffy the rice was. So, it's an A+ for the eggrolls and the rice.

Now the bad news. If I were rating solely on taste, I'd award the food 5 stars. Unfortunately, my overall experience falls short, resulting in a 3-star rating. The dinner portion sizes were disappointing, more fitting for a lunchtime serving—chintzy at best. Given the price of the entrees--we tried the Pad Gra Pow (basil stir fry) and Pad Gra Thiem (garlic pepper stir fry), $12.95 each for dinner--I expected at least double the amount of food compared to what was actually served. This was particularly noticeable when compared to other Asian restaurants in Lakewood, which typically provide decent-sized portions.

The Pad Thai was another letdown, surprisingly made with angel hair noodles instead of the thicker, flat Pad Thai noodles that are standard for this dish. It was also quite greasy. While the portion size for this dish was somewhat better than the other stir fry entrees, the amount of chicken included was dismal, hardly qualifying it as a dinner entree.

Given this experience, I’m hesitant to return and risk being short-changed again in the portion department. It's a shame because, as I mentioned, the food was tasty. However, the lack of sufficient portions and the unexpected deviations in standard dishes make it unlikely that I'll be trying this place again.

As of May 2024, they are TAKEOUT ONLY. I suspected this ahead of time but can confirm Google is wrong and I don't think I can change it. Just a heads up. The couple who runs the place is nice and the food isn't bad.

This is a tucked away gem. The food is phenomenal! Every time I come, I try and order something different, and every dish has been amazing. Take out only. No frills, just good food.

Looking for Thai food to pick up or for delivery? Quit looking, Star Thai is the best damn Thai food in Denver or the USA for that matter. This stuff is straight gas, straight 5/5 stars. Michelin stars? Doesn’t matter, this stuff is better than that marshmallow looking dude magazine rating. If you need Thai food just go ahead and order from here and thank that crazy dude from Google later. This is the best.

One of the top Thai places in Denver. All their ingredients are so fresh and flavorful. And the couple that runs it are so kind. Can't recommend this place enough.

I ordered food to go and got basil fried rice hot with egg rolls. The egg rolls were great, but the basil fried rice, which I have had before was tasteless. The only flavor was the heat which was no flavor at all. Sorry to say this place has gone downhill

My wife and I have eaten here twice and the quality is good. We both get massaman Curry. The reason for three stars because twice have gotten it with chicken and there's barely any chicken in there and I'm still hungry afterwards. I'm not happy paying $13 for a meal and still being hungry after.

Probably the best pad Thai I’ve ever had

Very tasty food, partner got the Fried Rice (Kau Pad) and I got the Star Thai Noodles (Pad Kee Mao, aka Drunken Noodles), but the portion sizes were very disappointing. The Kau Pad was a more decent size, but the Pad Kee Mao was incredibly small and about a third of it was just onions, another fourth of other vegetables, and there was barely any meat or noodles. While the flavor is delicious, this is just not a very good deal for the price and not feeling full afterwards.

Takeout only! We decided to order at the last minute and just waited in the parking lot. Super fast, affordable, and the food was DELICIOUS. Best pad thai I’ve ever had!

We've been getting our pad Thai at a Thai place a couple miles away for decades but it's been hit or miss lately so we decided to give Star Thai a try. We called in our order and it was ready when we arrived 15 minutes later. (Note that they are currently only open for takeout orders.) We got home within 10 minutes and the food was still nice and hot. While the pad Thai didn't have scrambled eggs or tofu like we are used to, the chicken tasted great and the pad Thai was amazing. The medium level had just the right level of spiciness for me. The mild tasted just right for those in our group who can't handle spicy foods. We'll definitely be back!

Restaurant had sign on the door saying they were closed until mid-August, yet online information did not indicate this, so we made the drive there for nothing.

As someone who frequently eats different Thai restaurant I will say this is one of the best in Denver. Fresh flavors, nice portion sizes, smells amazing. . I ordered the papaya salad and chicken pad Thai. I had enough food for and lunch tomorrow. I know it's gonna taste even better tomorrow because I almost couldn't stop eating it. I ordered mine hot! It is perfect. Wish I ordered a few other items since it was really cheap now after seeing the quality.
It was also done very quickly. 15 minutes and the nice man ever brought my food to my car! Amazing experience I will be back before the weekend to try more items!

You get the impression they are a purely family owned and operated place, and that they take pride in their food and maybe even joy in sharing it. I appreciate them.
Highly recommending for anybody reading this whether you've tried Thai food or not. (Thai food is my "I could eat this everyday and be happy" food, and I know many others who feel that).

Yes for the people wondering it is Takout only but they do also have the menu setup at the front door and the very nice employee meets you to take your order. Did not wait long maybe 10-15 minutes for 2 entrees and an appetizer with the sides. The salmon curry was an explosion of flavor and will be getting that the next time I visit. The Thai fried rice was pretty good although I feel like it was missing something very little that would give it that final kick Like the curry. Over all great food and service, would definitely recommend.

Update 11/13/21: Unfortunately we can no longer recommend Star Thai. We got Chicken pad Thai and drunken noodles here about 3 or 4 weeks ago and were very disappointed. The chicken pad Thai was completely different, the noodles were strange and the seasoning and sauce was very smokey flavored and no hint of peanut sauce whatsoever. It was almost inedible. Also in both dishes, we had only a few pieces of chicken. They have always been light on meat but the flavor of the dishes, price and the authenticity of the cuisine were enough to make up. But this was unacceptable. It seems like they are trying to cut costs even more which is a shame. I’m not sure we will ever choose to order from here again.

Best Thai!

This is my go to thai place. The prices are reasonable and the guy there is always super nice. I think I come here on average once a week honestly, it's that good. Notable favorites include tom yum soup, larb, papaya/beef salad, ALL of the curries, and prik pow noodles. But I doubt you could go wrong. Good people and good food period

We ordered two drunken noodles and asked if they could be made vegan, they said yes. However when we got the food and got home there was a bunch of scrambled egg in it and seemed like there was fish sauce too. The person on the phone was also pretty rude when I was ordering. If you have dietary restrictions, do not order from this place. The portions were also pretty small!

James is the man and we don’t go anywhere but Star Thai! Combo fried rice and combo lo mein are our go-to’s. Absolutely delicious.

Mediocre at best! The curry is "spicy" but has No flavor 😕 I didn't know it was possible to make a green-curry with absolutely no flavor.. The rice was mushy (over cooked) the potstickers had pan fry marks on the outside but were dough/raw on the inside, the teriyaki chicken was a super thin piece of chicken, barely cooked all the way through, with a side of watered-down teriyaki sauce.. I've actually had worse but not much. Take it from me: go somewhere else.

The prices are so low that I tip $5 each time. They deserve more. I order the Massuman Curry almost every time and it just makes my day. I've promised to treat myself once per week. Show them some love and appreciate what they do! :) If you know/like Thai food, you will really enjoy this.

I ordered drunken noodles as I saw someone say it was the best ever. IT WAS NOT. I was so disappointed in the wantons also they were fried beyond edibility! The portion size was also disappointing as most of the reviews rave about size and quality. I wasn't impressed unfortunately.

of food.. the menu sounds nice but in real case it’s actually vomiting experience...
When we opened it we thought we’ve got a wrong order...
I had ordered sea food combination with shrimps , scallops and fish...sounds nice, huh? Lol
What I really received is: simulation crab sticks that was dissolved in murky gray water - called sauce, lots of onions, grey mushrooms and carrots.. no shrimps and again overcooked pieces of fish was was swimming in the grey puddle in there... My partner supposed to have simple chicken pad Thai, instead got some seaweed looking substance that he didn’t look forward to get into....🤐
I don’t know how this business is still in business, we wanted to support local business in these tough times, but we totally felt taken advantage of and we won’t order from them ever again🤮

I have been coming here for well over 12 years and I will always come here for pad Thai. It’s what I measure other pad Thai’s up to and they never add up. If I could, I would give this place 10,000 stars! The best place for Thai in the US!

The Tom Ka Gai was fabulous. Both other dishes were also excellent. Service was prompt. Take out or delivery only.

I grew up in the neighborhood behind this strip mall. I've eaten here since I was 10 years old, and I can tell you that even 11 years later the food does NOT disappoint! The food is extremely consistent in taste and quality, both of which are excellent. You can take comfort in knowing its cooked fresh and to order by sweet hard working people.

I've had a fairly bad luck at finding decent thai food in the western suburbs.

But, this place was the exception so far. #1 the location itself was a very.... unassuming hole in the wall setup. Like, inventory stored everywhere. Weird star wars dolls and lego vehicles scattered around.

"A place like this, decorated like this. It has to be good."

And so far, so good. We tried 3 entrees, and all had good flavor. Plus tofu option for just about everything. We'll be back to other things.

Amazing authentic Thai food. The shop is owned and run entirely by a super nice old Thai couple and their food is about as authentic as it can get. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for the real deal thai food!

Hard to appreciate the food when the front room looks like the chefs live there - I wish them the best, but when ordering food that is only carry out only I hope to see something clean and tidy. Chef Ramsey would not be happy

A few weeks ago, we celebrated my grandfather's birthday with a physically distanced lunch in the park. This restaurant was nearby, and, having read good reviews, we decided to give it a try. The reviews were right! I will say that I haven't had a whole lot of Thai food, so I don't have much to compare it against. That being said, the flavors were absolutely incredible. I had the #13, Siamese noodles (Pad Se Eyw). It was incredibly tasty. The price was perfect, as well, and the place itself is cute. I'd highly recommend it, and I'll probably be visiting next time I'm up in the area (which won't be for a while, due to the virus.)

Oh, and speaking of the virus: I appreciate the steps they've taken to make sure everyone is safe. They've moved a table near the door so that there's only room enough for a couple people to be inside at one time. Everything is take-out now, but the food was fresh and hot.

Their drunken noodles were the best I’ve had yet, and had the perfect amount of spice. My boyfriend said his Thai bbq chicken was the best he has ever had. 100% recommend! You will not regret!

Amazing place!! The man who took our order, who I believe was the same man cooking AND helping customers, was very polite and very fast! He never stopped moving!! We ate our food in the parking lot and it was perfect! The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the sprouts were VERY fresh! Absolutely recommend this restaurant!

My husband and I eat here at least once every other week if not once a week. The owner is the most hardworking person I have ever seen! During COVID he has been tackling orders alone and is constantly on the go. We love being able to support their business. Portion sizes are perfect. My absolute favorite is the cream cheese wontons and they give you like 6. Every where else you only get 3 or 4.

My favourite Thai joint in all of Denver! Literal Mom and Pop local hole-in-the-wall that is so knock your socks off good I've gone here for my birthday dinners! Family has asked me, "where are we going for your birthday meal?" and consistently star Thai is an excellent choice. I ALWAYS get the pineapple curry, and at least one order of their custard or mango and sticky rice... Excellent and friendly service, fast and reliably excellent cuisine, and wonderful homey feel in their restaurant. I love the Lego sets they have on display for all of us takeout and Togo orders during this time, and I can't wait to dine in again! Love supporting my favorite Thai food and family ❤️

Was excited to try this place! We got the yellow curry and the pad see ew.

Portions were super disappointing, especially for the pad see ew, but the food tasted excellent! Just wish that portions were more generous, our serving of pad see ew could have barely fed a small child, probably about a half a cup of noodles total. Would totally consider eating here again if portion sizes were reconsidered, as food was delicious!

I always love trying new places for Panang Curry. I found Star Thai today. I am from San Diego and it definitely reminded me of the flavors from back home. I also had the Thai Iced tea and this had the right amount of cream. I definitely will be back and recommend.

Best Thai food in town

I've definitely become a regular, eating here or ordering takeout at least once a week. The owner is very friendly and the pad thai is awesome ! I highly recommend trying it out.

Seriously the best Thai food I've ever had in my entire life. Consistently delicious. If I was forced to choose one thing to eat every day for the rest of my life, their Tom Kha soup would be it.

The fact that they go back to Thailand and close the restaurant is indicative of how much they have committed to authenticity. Get it to-go, eat there... Just PLEASE make the trip. This is some of the best food you will ever eat.

Great little hidden gem. Delicious food. The pad Thai, a basic staple of any and all Thai spots, was unique. Not overly sweet and spiced with a delicious blend of chilies. Supremely affordable. Totally worth a visit

We've been regulars here for over five years. James is consistently lovely and the food is consistently delicious and affordable. Don't let the location fool you, Star Thai is a hidden treasure. My favorites are the pineapple fried rice and crispy tofu.

Hole in the wall and amazing Thai food!

Very authentic, reminded me of the street side cafes in Chiang Mai when I lived there. So far I've tried 3 items on the menu and they are all unbelievably delicious. I can't wait to try them all. You can't go wrong with the Pad Thai or Pad See Ew, and get the dinner side, because you will eat it all!

This is a place we drive over an hour to get to for the amazing flavorful food! The owner is very personable, and has a great memory. He always remember what we order. The entrees are generous portions and affordable. Highly recommend!

Portions are extremely small for the price but great flavor

This is by far the worst food I have ever eaten! The seafood stirfry was disgusting and leaking everywhere. I would never ever recommend or go here again! Worst take out ever!

We assumed the 4 star review was legitimate. And ordered stir fried vegetables, red and green curry and spring rolls. The spring rolls were wrapped in wanton paper not rice paper with no shrimp in them. The peanut sause was very thin and weak tasting. The stir fry was mostly broth and very few vegetables and the same with the green and red curry. The meal was extremely disappointing. Wish I could rely on the reviews. Will never go there again.

Authentic Thai food! And the portions are big. I think this is one of the best kept secrets in Denver Thai food scene. It's in a strip mall, and you won't even think that they are. But this restaurant has been here for a long time, and once you try it once, you will know why. Give this restaurant a try, and you will keep coming back. The Currys, all of them are amazing.

The owner/chef is so nice and cooks delicious food so quickly. I always get the same thing, Pad Thai, and it’s always amazing, but I’ve also tried other dishes that are all always great too. The prices are unbeatable, portion sizes are perfect (more than enough for one meal), and I always love coming here. Highly recommend!!

Portion was small on both entrees. And neither entree was spicy at all. One was medium and one was Thai hot. Neither hot at all. Would not recommend them at all. I won’t be back.

Absolutely delicious, there is not much more to say, if you come to Denver, Lakewood area this is a must eat in my opinion ! Will be back 100% Hands down my favorite Thai takeout joint. Can't go wrong with the panang curry, pad thai, or pineapple fried rice. Do yourself a favor and stop in at Star Thai next time you have a hankering for some tasty takeout!

It took me a long time to give this place a try and I'm so glad I finally did because I will be coming back often!!!

Fresh ingredients, the most authentic tasting delicious Thai food I've had in the Denver metro area, extremely great customer service (ma and pop kind of feel), very cheap and fair pricing, fast time to table from when ordered

Cons:
small portions even when you get the dinner size, could use an update or even a better location

Best Pad Thai I have found in Colorado. I’ll keep looking of course, but these guys do a fantastic job. They don’t have a problem if I change up the recipe either. Sometimes I’ll add an extra egg or order it halfway between mild and medium, or ask for carrots, etc. Really nice people, generous portions, fairly priced. Would recommend to everyone.

Nothing to look at but some of the best Thai in denver. We are lucky to have a quaint place like this on the west side of town. Love Love this place and the food is amazing.
