Saw Thai Star on DoorDash and they have high ratings there so decided to get some classic thai noodles for lunch - pad thai and pad see ew. They were both good, can definitely smell and taste the wok char, which is a good thing. They were both delicious but a tad on the sweet side, will be back to try other items
The hospitality is unmatched. The food reminded me of my childhood ratatouille style. The appetizers were on point. We got the Thai star appetizer combination and the seafood soup I forgot what the item was called. It was either Tom Kha or Tom Yum. If I had to guess, it was probably the Tom yum because it was Tom Yummy in my Tummy. 10/10 would recommend the soup and a bowl of steamed rice.
Order came super late, as my boyfriend and I proceeded to eat we both thought the food tasted off. We both took a few bites, and just put it in the fridge. The next day I had the worst food poisoning, when I contacted the restaurant both times to let them know they assured me it was fresh ingredients; the meat tasted old, when I called again I was screamed at saying I am a liar and just trying to get free food. Granted as soon as I threw up we threw the food out right away. When I proceeded to contact Ventura health services and apparently this isn’t the first time they were reported. Do not eat here, unless you want to be stuck on the toilet for 2 days
This is the most under-rated Thai joint in Ventura. This has been my go to lunch and post-work takeout spot for years and I’m always surprised that it’s not packed (though the location probably explains that). The owner is super friendly and goes out of his way to accommodate vegan/vegetarian options. I don’t think they are open for in house dining anymore (when they were it was very diner-y but pleasant with super nice wait staff.) The food is fresh and tasty Thai standards and the lunch special is still the best deal in town.
So delicious! I definitely consider myself a self proclaimed Thai food reviewer and this Thai food was a 9 for sure. Spicy, flavorful and the fried rice was delicious. Pad woon sen was to die for! The service was a 10, we got a to go order and my SO said the man working was so kind and very welcoming. I’ll definitely be ordering again.
I have the orange chicken it was good I didn’t care so much for the cabbage that mixed in with it, but it was certainly worth ordering again. I think the size was about right for the price and the service was fine the restaurant the little messy and they’ve kind of taken over the seating area for I guess office space but other than that I have no complaints. I recommend you try it it’s worth it in my opinion
first stop on my ride from LAX to Ojai. AMAZING thai iced tea 🧋
Super refreshing, quality food, affordable and the representative was so lovely to talk to. Will be back for sure.

The food here is Amazing! We have been coming here for years! Best Panang Curry and Pad Thai in Ventura/Oxnard Area!
Best Thai food In town
The owners are very nice and accommodating. They have great prices for a meal and very affordable.
The food was very good. Very nice people. Read this and you can call me what I can or cannot say okay
Quality of food is very high compared to other Thai food place around here.
Amazing taste !!! Pad Thai Delicious !!

Most of the food at Thai Stars is ok. We've ordered from them on several occasions, but there has always been at least two items that didn't live up to the quality we expected. As of our most recent meal, we've decided that we're done with them.
The Pad See Ew is pretty good, and the curries are pretty good. Avoid the Orange Chicken and Sweet & Sour Chicken, as they're poor quality and not worth the price.
We've only kept ordering from them because often, they're the only Thai place that's open for delivery, but from now on, if no other Thai place is available, then we're just just not having Thai food.
One of the items we ordered on our last order (yesterday) was the Red Curry. On all other occasions, the curry was in a good sized container, but this time, it's like the order was halved. We did not order a lunch portion or anything like that. In fact, DoorDash lets you know the date of the last time you ordered a certain item, and I simply re-ordered the same Red Curry as about a month ago. Same item, same price, much smaller portion.
I don't know if they ran out of ingredients or what, but why should I pay the same amount for such a small portion? If they had to significantly reduce the portion size for some reason, it should be noted on the menu. We also special ordered it to be "Not Spicy" (Expecting at least less spicy). The spiciness of Red Curry can easily be controlled, but they sent us the HOTTEST Red Curry I've ever tasted in my entire life. My wife gagged on just a teaspoon full, then I tried it and was pretty shocked at the heat level. Based on other experiences with this restaurant, we think that maybe they didn't like us asking for the Red Curry to be "Not Spicy" (We know it will be anyway, but we wanted it as mild as possible) so they responded by making it as hot as possible. We added TWO CANS of Coconut Milk to the Red Curry which made it edible, but it was still very, very hot. We had to take hardcore antacids to eat a portion.
We won't be back.
Food overpriced, very small portion, rice very dry, very little meat in the dish, charged me $.50 extra because I did not want ice in my drink. I ordered 2 dishes they were mediocre at best. I will not return again.
A hole in the wall, sitting next to other great restaurants. Good price for good quality food. The pad Thai with chicken was delicious. I highly recommend it. I’ll be coming back for sure.
Delicious pad see ew! Will be back to try other foods! Amazing service! Let me in and order even when I was 5 mins to closing!
Everything was pretty good but let me say their Mango and Sticky Rice was F I R E . The best M&SR I’ve ever had in my life. LOVED IT!
I ordered from this restaurant on Doordash and the food arrived hot, fresh, and withe perfect amount of spice. For reference, I ordered their fresh roll with shrimp. pad thai with chicken, and the red curry with chicken and tofu. The tofu was lightly fried and it gave the curry more flavor. I enjoyed the red curry with the mild level of spice. I will definitely be ordering from here again.
Favorite Thai restaurant in Ventura/Oxnard area, good quality and quantity. Pricey if you get ur delivered but worth every penny for pick up
Ive ordered here cor years never had a problem till today. I ordered a Vegan dish for one of my workers when we got it it had egg in it. We tried to call to fix it and the guy refused and literally said "sometimes vegans eat eggs.."
La comida estuvo bien pero la señora no me había dado mi té frío y no lo lleno bien y así no me gusta
Saw Thai Star on DoorDash and they have high ratings there so decided to get some classic thai noodles for lunch - pad thai and pad see ew. I ordered the Tom Kha Soup and Fried Rice with Shrimp and not only was it enough for two thus portions are good it was absolutely delicious!!!! Definitely coming here more often. And prices are cheaper than rice by mama and the food is definitely good like rice by mama. I would recommend trying it if u haven’t already
Usually get their yellow curry & chicken pad Thai and it’s always solid! Hard to beat quality and price, this is my go-to for take-out on days I don’t feel like cooking!
chicken dry as a bone, rice hard and old, chicken drowned in watery sauce and sometimes it barely tasted like meat at all
My first time trying this place out and we very much enjoyed our meal. My picky eater loved the Ramen Shrimp Wonton soup and my Tom Kha soup was spot on with lots of beautiful fresh vegetables. Egg rolls were great too! We will be ordering again very soon!
Siempre esta muy bien la comida y la atención
My favorite thai restaurant a hidden gem.
AS OF NOV 1ST 2020 MY rating has lowered. I placed an pick up order and could not make it to the restaurant due to horrible customer service I encountered over the phone. But then I recieve a phone call from the owner saying, " f@#$ you, f@#$". I will never be visiting this restaurant, again.
This tucked away spot is a gem. Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles) is the best in Ventura, hands down.
Ordered Thai Star and it was alright, nothing too special. Mango sticky rice was really good, reminded me of my trip to Thailand.
Pho broth tasted old, lady fingers shrimp rolls weren’t fried all the way through and weren’t deveined giving a bad taste. Egg noodles were salty. When I called to let the manager know he didn’t offer any ways to fix it. I’m all about supporting local businesses but this one has to do better.
The food here is always amazing, I only order Thai from here. Thank you for always having food that makes you feel like home...
Food was great had calamari asparagus pho and fried rice great service as well
I love the taste of their Thai green curry. Very authentic taste and the price is also affordable!! I will be ordering a delivery again in the morning
Always love Thai Star! Deliscious food.
Everybody who once ate real Thai food will say its a joke. Tom Kha Soup was literally disgusting.
Had the seafood soup which turned out to be oddly pink and quite sour. Wasn't too appetizing. Also ordered the spring rolls which was very loosely wrapped and soggy, making it difficult to eat.
We had the orange chicken with sticky rice and chicken chow mien. It was not so great, kind of bland. It took forever and the portions we're pretty small for the price.
I gotta say Thai star is one of the best Thai food I've ever tasted, sure the quantity is small but it is perfect for one person or two because it has enough to eat. I am just one person and I ordered 4 things there and it is really good, I got the Fried shrimp, Shrimp noodles, orange chicken which comes with rice and the last thing I got was dumpling soup and it is not only good; but it is also helping to sooth my throat and other symptoms of my allergies thanks to the spice. I love the quality and quantity cause even though it is small it is best for sharing, so I give this place five stars and suggest you try it as well cause how will you know if you like it or don't if you don't try it first?!?!!?!!
Good flavor and good delivery times/prices. Just a couple gripes-their fried appetizers are not that good-don't seem fresh. They didnt pay attention to my special request through grubhub which was a simple request. Also, if you are not a spicy good fan stay away from the curry, even the mild is hot. I like spicy but I wasn't feeling it tonight and ordered "not spicy" and it was still hot. I do love their brown rice.
Ordered online this evening. Delivery was 45 min even though we're maybe a mile away. Pad Thai chicken and noodles dry. I also ordered calamari appetizer. Less than half of the order was calamari, the rest was battered/fried broccoli! For $10 I expected calamari, not a battered vegetable. I was very disappointed.
Good service
New management. Food change a lot, not so delicious anymore.
Damn, that's good food, try the pork larb, they don't add sugar like other places, perfect lemon flavor.
Shrimp was uncooked... No flavor..noodles pretty much raw and service..omg i was better off going and cooking food myself... Stay away go across street to sawsadee if you want excellent thai food n service
Good time everytime
Should have walked out before ordering.
Great priced food but the quality and quantity isn't all that great. I wouldn't eat here again
Good food at good prices. They also don't have a problem changing ingredients for people with dietary restrictions, which is less common than you might think.
Always delicious, and decently priced!
I've order a few times mainly at work but the one time I ordered for it to be delivered to my house they were late
Just a little place in a food court but food is always good. The atmosphere isnt great, and the service is always so slow, even if there are only 2 customers, but the papaya salad or anything we ordered is so yummy. Take out is better than dine in.
I'm a regular customer. Prices are great especially if you are a struggling student. The best time to come is for their lunch special. You get a lot for your buck. The staff is very friendly.
I'm sorry, I really wanted to like this place however the thai food I got was not up to par.... the yellow curry was decent (probably the best part of the meal). The pad thai was super dry and the brown rice tasted dry as well. The price is right, but the food is comparative to the price....... Sorry I can't recommend but I did good customer service.
Great affordable Thai food. Love it!
So good!
