Chili Basil, is great addition to the Ventura restaurant scene. The food is simply delicious, especially the ribs, melts in your mouth. I was looking for authentic Thai food & I found it!!! I ordered chicken pad Thai to go & it was super yummy!!!! The restaurant looks very clean & nice. When I walked in I was greeted right away. Everyone there was super nice & friendly! The best Thai food in Ventura County for sure! It’s super fresh! I love it!!! Will be back again for sure!!! :)

I had the Thai style pad kra pao with the fried egg on rice. One of the owners came out when he recognized that I ordered with actual Thai preferences with Thai chilis. Also got a boba Thai tea. Try this spot, it's new but the best one on the East end by FAR. It's as good as or better than the most known/popular spot in town. Go!!!

I love the spring roll with shrimp & our dessert, mango coconut sticky rice. the most. Ambient is perfect as well as the music .
Staffs are knowledgeable & quick to check your needs. I am doing my review while we are in the restaurant. My husband , constantly praising the food we ordered. We had patay with beef, chicken yellow curry, satay. The chicken coconut soup I had was very good, while my husband had the salad. I truly love the fried wonton, fried shrimp & egg roll. I
ended up ordering gift cards for our sons & their families.

Brought my daughter here, was a very pleasant experience. Food is very good, service is very attentive and kind.

Mitch was such a great waiter. He substituted some of the appetizers to make it even more pleasing for me. The yellow vegetable curry was delicious as was the soup and spring rolls. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Ordered delivery 2x in the last 2 weeks and at the restaurant recently. Nice place but had to send back 2 things ordered. Hot house sake was bad. Chicken satay was uncooked and the replacement was better but not a good value. Today's delivery was totally average. Requested and paid for double shrimp which did not double. Too INconsistent. Delivery fees are too high.

Food is hot and fresh. We had meals from here 2 days in a roll! Weekday Lunch special has a good variety of selection.

Wing is very patient and we highly recommend this place for friends and family.

The food comes out very fast! I love a good Thai tea. The green curry is fantastic. I thought the pad Thai was just okay, a little too much fish sauce or something. The satay I didn’t like the peanut sauce. And the prices are good too. Affordable, everything $20ish or less. They don’t shy away from the spice, some dishes were super spicy. Definitely coming back for the green curry.

Excellent food and service! We ordered egg rolls, fresh shrimp spring rolls, beef spicy basil dish, and chicken phad thai. All dishes came out hot and quick. Main dishes were generous portions. Waiters were attentive and kind. Indoor and outdoor patio seating available. This is our new go to Thai restaurant! Definitely check it out. You won’t be disappointed 🙂

We loved everything about our lunch here. Delicious food, wonderful service, reasonable prices. and a really nice ambiance.
We ordered the pumpkin curry, spicy basil chicken, shrimp pad thai, kids pad see ew, and coconut ice cream. All of it was excellent. The pad see ew was a very mild flavor though, so it was my least favorite. But everything was delicious.
Their tablecloths are covered in paper, so we had fun playing tic tac toe while we waited. It would be fun if kids got crayons to color with on the paper table cloth.

All and all a great meal. We will be back.

We are not big Thai food eaters but thought we would be adventurous. The food was sooo good! We ordered Chicken Pad Thai, Scallops and veggies, yellow chicken curry and Larb! Larb looks like chicken filled lettuce cups. We loved it!

Chili Basil is Top Tier Thai food. Well above average.
Their Praram with peanut sauce is amazing and an uncommon dish to find. This instantly became my new favorite thai dish, and seems healthy with lean protein and tons of wilted spinach.

Their Pad Thai is also excellent. It has just the right blend of peanut, lemongrass, meat, egg, and sauce. Many pad thai are bland, sticky or dry. But Chili Basil gets it right - lots of flavor, dark seasoned noodles, bursting with lemongrass and lime, and house toasted peanuts. One of the best I have had.

You can tell a lot about an Asian restaurant by how fresh the bean sprouts are, because sprouts get limp, gray, and gross very quickly. Chili basil has some of the freshest, whitest, crunchiest bean sprouts around, which is a good indication that they take their ingredients seriously.

My only suggestion is that they make their Thai Team more bitter. A good thai tea should be more bitter than sweet/creamy. Chili Basil's leans towards the creamy/sweet side a little too much. (its still acceptable, just not the best)

The place has great food! The prices are reasonable. We are happy Chili Basil Thai is open on the East side of Ventura. The menu is robust and the atmosphere is that of a neighborhood restaurant. It has a homey feel.

We started with a hot pot of Tom Kah chicken soup. The soup is my test for every Thai food restaurant. That was the best Tom Kah gai I have eaten in years. For the main dishes we had the pineapple fried rice with shrimp and the Prik Tai Dam with chicken.

They also have a pretty decent sized kids menu with Thai dishes adapted for the little ones. Enjoy!

The best Thai food in Ventura!! My friends and I meet up and look for a good Thai food. Chili basil doesn’t disappoint us! The place is spotless, service is very good and food are excellent! I love their signature Asparagus avocado salad and the pork rib! The Massaman Lamb is perfectly cooked and tastes really good with Roti!! I highly recommend this place if you want unique Thai dish and friendly service !

this place is pretty good. I had just come from 3 months in Thailand so my standard for comparison was a very high bar.

Our dish was served lukewarm and drinks (water and tea) weren’t refilled. Staff seemed annoyed when we pointed out the food wasn’t hot.

We were delighted to find out that the owners of one of our favorite Thai restaurants opened up this new spot close to us. We've already been twice in one week since we found out and all of our favorites taste better than ever, the service is great, and our friends have enjoyed it too. Excited to have our new regular spot! Highly recommend the red curry and the Tom Kha soup!

I rarely write reviews, but Chili Basil Thai is such a welcome addition to our neighborhood that I must write about it. My wife and I cook, travel, and have Thai people in our family, and we can tell you that this place is world class. Every dish we've tried has been excellent. It's great for take-out, but it's fun to eat there as well. The staff is wonderful and the service is excellent. Five Stars!!

We were surprised at the lovely atmosphere in this restaurant. The food was unique and delicious-ginger/mushroom/coconut soup, particularly. We had a friendly efficient server.

We went for Lunch mid week. The food was excellent. The only issue I had was the house dressing on the green salad was the only dressing option and it was heavily mayo based. The Yellow Curry was awesome. The restaurant is very spacious and well decorated. I would highly recommend.

Very friendly wait staff and the food is incredibly delicious! We had crab Rangoon, crispy vegetable egg rolls, fried shrimp for appetizers and pad Thai (pork and shrimp). Everything was phenomenal! We are happy this restaurant is so close to us. Our new fav for Thai cuisine. Highly recommended.

Great new Thai restaurant in Ventura. The service is prompt and efficient, and very friendly. We had the Special Combination. Comes with soup or salad, wanton or egg rolls and your choice of entre. Food is fresh and well prepared. Easy location with plenty of parking. They have a small bar you can sit at as well as many tables around the restaurant. There is also an outdoor patio. Give this place a try if you are in the area.

Service and food was more than to be expected! Everything from the attention to the experience was top notch. Kudos to the owners and the staff for paying close attention to wants of their patrons. Definitly somewhere I will make a normal stop on my foodie journey!

We’ve tried almost all of the Thai restaurants in Ventura City and this by far is our Top 1. It has been our 4th visit already! I could attest that almost all we ordered from their menu were really authentic and tasty. The atmosphere is great and you could see other customers smile or nod after tasting the first bite.

Our go to Thai in Ventura has always been Jasmine's, but the food was better here and the atmosphere was nice and quiet. We will be back! Welcome to Ventura!! Delicious. Garlic green beans and chicken was melt-in-your-mouth perfect! Green curry is probably the best I’ve ever tasted. Egg rolls are fresh and crispy. Chicken wings are juicy and crispy. Everything was on point. Will definitely be back many time to try everything!

First time here. We had a wonderful tasty dinner. I can't remember the name of my noodle dish! Special came with soup, wanton, shrimp and eggroll.

Best Thai I have had in the Cam/Oxnard/ventura area. In my top 5 for all of greater LA. Fresh ingredients. Lots of flavor. Cool atmosphere.

I have a new favorite dish - their Pra Ram. It's so peanuty and flavor packed. The chicken was all perfectly chopped and was high quality meat. Highly recommended.

Next we tried their Pad Thai. You can tell a lot about a place from their PT. Theirs does a few things perfectly - the noodles were loose and not clumpy as they should be. Also the noodles were flavored well. (Bad pad Thai noodles are clumpy and flavorless). Also the dish had a heavy hand of lime which brightens it up and brings out the other flavors. The peanut topping was perfectly toasted. The beam sprouts were very fresh, white, and crunchy. (Bean sprouts tell you a lot about a restaurant so very fresh ones speak well of it)

Last, the panang curry - it lacks a little peanuty-ness, but makes up for it with great lemongrass and/or galangal flavor. It's also nice and thick. Some Thai curries end up too watery, but this was very nice and thick, sticking to the rice. Another very good dish.

My only minor dings - the Thai tea is slightly on the sweet/creamy side. I prefer mine more bitter. 2nd, the panang curry container was only about 80% full, and for the price of food now days I expect a full container.

They also have an extensive selection of gluten free amd vegetarian offerings.

Overall I am very pleased with this new place and am already planning my return soon!
