Casual storefront serving a Thai menu heavy on seafood plus noodles & lunch deals.
I had a legitimate food coma because the portions were great and they don’t skimp out on the spice level. My lips were numb but everything was so tasty! It was a nice discovery to come across this gem after walking around the neighbourhood. The owners greeted us with a smile and it really feels like walking into someone’s home with all the plants and decor. I also appreciated the bowl of fruit for dessert as well. Such a nice treat. Highly recommend Poom Thai! Thanks for the hospitality as a visitor from Vancouver, BC 😊
Poom and his family have been at this location for years!!! This is Santa Monica’s best Thai restaurant!!! They provide you with quality food and many kind smiles. My family and I love coming here to eat inside and get takeout. Everything on their menu is incredible but I especially love their Eggplant a la carte (spicy), Pad See Ew and Yellow Curry - so yummy!! 😋
Late night Thai, hell mofo yeah! Open until 1am on a Monday, this was my last stop of the night before I went back to the room and crashed. On the suggestion of the brother with the fro, who appeared to be friends with the cashier, I ordered beef green curry and shrimp fried rice. The curry was good, dug into it as soon as I got back. Haven't tried the fried rice yet, that's my 30hr train ride meal. Joked around with the cashier and his friend for a few minutes while they cooked my food fresh. Next time I'm drunk and hungry on a random weeknight back home, I'm going to remember this place and be sad AF.
I’ve tried 7 or so different dishes from noodles, to soup, to different veggie and meat dishes and I love this place! So convenient that they are open until 1:00am, just make sure to place your order on grub hub or call about 30 min ahead of time and give them a good chunk of time to get your food ready! Food does great reheated and in the fridge, usually not a big fan of leftovers but everything I’ve had reheated nicely for days! Also if you are looking for an updated menu check the grub hub menu, that one is correct!
We had planned to visit Poom's restaurant as we heard and read wonderful reviews about the food. In fact, we couldn't wait as we had our first meal here after flying in to Los Angeles from Hawaii. The restaurant was open late and the owners warmly welcomed my family and friends; a group of six. The food was delicious, authentic, fresh, and plentiful. We chatted with the delightful owners who took the time to make sure that our late dinner experience was satisfying. Needless to say, we all were impressed with the food, service, and hospitality at Poom's. I can understand why many locals and college students enjoy this restaurant. We were even invited to sign their wall. (there's a back story on how that began) Poom can expect us back when we are in town!!!👍🏼🥘
This place is magical. The food is great, the service is so nice, and the ambiance is cozy and unique, with plants growing wild and a couple of friends playing actual records on a portable record player at a decent volume. It’s just unique. Not fancy, but homey and comfy.
Excellent food and great service! Had a fun chat with our waiter and he was friendly and awesome! I definitely recommend this place as the food is amazing..🔥
The food is fantastic! Dine-in or take-out, either way it's excellent and they have a large variety of items on their menu. They have chow mein but not lo mein. Very friendly customer service. The food is always delicious!

Two years later and Poom is still number one!
Our favorite local Thai place. Delicious food and owned by the nicest family.
Great place for a late food. Phenomenal owner and his son. Really hard working people.
Excellent food and great service! Had a fun chat with our waiter and he was friendly and awesome! I definitely recommend this place as the food is amazing..🔥
best chicken coconut soup in la its the perfect spice and flavor just wow 100/10 everyone needs to try this place ong
Absolute best place for thai take out on the westside. Courteous and professional service from Poom himself. Everything i’ve tried here is addictive!!

This is definitely what I would call a hole in the wall, but the food was amazing. The food came out hot and fresh, and tasted amazing. The service was friendly also.

Wonderful family run late night thai restaurant… so glad to stumble on it for late night pad see ew craving. Delicious, really good amount for take out, kind family with great service. Thank you!
If yiu haven't had their crispy pork, try it. It's a new item. Best Thai I've ever had

Love Poom Thai ❤️
Very subpar & bland. The chicken satay is a joke and didn't smell fresh. With these reviews, I don't think the people of Santa Monica know what good Thai food is.
Great atmosphere. Poom was a gracious host and the food was absolutely delicious. Mouth watering and intensely flavorful. Definitely recommend a visit to this family run restaurant 💯
Very friendly host/server.
This family loves plants!
Good food for a good bargain, good vibes and good friends, good man Poom.
Authentic Thai food. Huge serving sizes and great hospitality! Hidden gem of LA!
Let me put you on to my man Poom. He’s super friendly, hardworking, and makes some great Thai food. You can never go wrong with pad thai and Poom’s is no exception. Good late night spots are such a rare treasure these days. Place was packed at 11 pm on a Sunday! And people say night life in Santa Monica is dead. Do yourself a favor and get some Poom!
Absolutely fantastic. They handed us a sharpie, so we knew just what to do.
Been going here since I was a kid! Love this place. Love their family
Most excellent experience. Poom introduced himself and gave us a little family history. They are the real deal for Thai noodles and cuisine.
Had the yellow curry with chicken and it was amazing. Will definitely be coming back! There is not much sit down space in the restaurant but it's great if you order to-go or for delivery.
A small place we discovered by accident. Great food. Nice and spicy!
It’s rare I’ll do a review but I feel obligated. Poom Thai is a real find and it’s my go to for Thai now. Not only is the food delicious but the portions they give are, thus far, considerable.
For example, with my Tom Kah soup, which includes chicken… unlike most places that give you far too few pieces… they were GENEROUS with portions.
Poom, you’re doing it right and I’VE NOTICED so I’ll be ordering you more and more
Thank you!
I eat out a lot and love trying new places. And this is one of the very best places I’ve tried. Make it inside and the atmosphere is amazing. People are so friendly. Love it all so much. Family owned and operated.
I hope I never return to this place again!!
I ordered the pad thai. I couldn’t finish it, let’s say it’s not authentic. Good service tho

super sweet people, walked us to our car at night because it was late, great service. ran by poom and his father 10/10 recommend
I'm Australian and we have Thai restaurants everywhere. But this place is the best Thai I've ever had!! Sweet family business that's been running for 22 years. Food is delicious and Poom (whose parents run the business) is an absolute sweetheart. We had the dumplings and panang curry. So flavourful!!
THE BEST PANANG CURRY HANDS DOWN. Poom and family are such lovely people too. I’d go every day if I lived in LA
The food is fantastic! Dine-in or take-out, either way it's excellent and they have a large variety of items on their menu. They have chow mein but not lo mein. Very friendly customer service. The food is always delicious!

Two years later and Poom is still number one!
Disappointing food.
Sad to see this place go down hill, I guess that’s what the plandemic will do. It’s a sad time when you can’t go eat at one of your favorite go to spots.
Horrible place!
Really excellent and unique location! The mother is very nice and gave me some grapes. They seem to anticipate the customers' needs superbly.
One of the top Thai restaurants in all of LA. They use wonderful tasting ingredients and the price point is unbelievable for the incredible quality! They're also open pretty late night which is a huge plus because usually all you can find is junk food or tacos. A must try if you're in the Santa Monica area.
If you like meat in your food this is not the place for you. My Shrimp fried rice only had 3 shrimp in it. I got the garlic beef and it was barely any beef. Mostly a bunch of vegetables. Flavor was good though. I purposely ordered the Tom Yum Kai soup because i do not like mushrooms (the other 2 options listed mushrooms as an ingredient) ... they gave me a soup that had a bunch of mushrooms lol I feel like i wasted my money tbh
super friendly family owned spot — probably the best neighborhood thai spot i’ve ever had the pleasure of frequenting. nothing fancy, spot on flavors, all your favorite dishes. never disappointed. 10/10
Don't forget the angel wing! From the masters of Thai Cuisine.
It's okay, thai. Good for a quick late night order to pick up.
This is my fellow co-workers go to late night Thai place for our night shift! Portions are always large and the food is always fresh and saucy. Our go to’s are the pad see ew and pad thai of course! We normally get deliver through an app. Notably on the most recent occasion, an entire bag of our order was missing. The gentleman who answered the phone apologized and promptly re-delivered the rest of our order himself! We were so grateful for that gesture! Doesn’t disappoint!
Best and most affordable Thai restaurant in town!!!!!! Tom kha kai soup is AMAZING! And the steamed dumplings as well. I’ve always ordered it thru Uber eats and it’s always delicious and hot. Love love LOVE! I literally ordered it twice this week.
The service was great and the food was delicious. We had the mussels, the burrata and the cobbler. We will be back!
The food here it's excellent and reasonably priced.
The Combination fried rice was good but it was still a lil too white. I like my fried rice to look like fried rice. I'll try again 😌
Friendly family, yummy coffee, Great teriyaki chicken bomb egg rolls!
Ordered Thai fried rice and spicy flat noodles, we just loved their preparation. Definitely will visit again.
The prices here are insanely low compared to the average Thai restaurant and the quality is just as good. Solid portions too. Can’t beat $10 for an entree
Just luv the food! My Son was in from Boston and luved the food. He's a pickie Thai food eater*
Open late with awesome Thai food! Super nice, what else can I say? Perfect.
Not much pork in the Pad Thai and it was overcooked. Overall flavor was really flat, not much taste overall.
Amazing food!! And they have Vegetarian options too. I got the spicy mint noodles which were to die for!!
Thai tea was also very good. They didn't have seating when I went there but that might have been because of the timings. I would definitely go back and would recommend others to try it too!! Enjoy!
The most amazing Thai spot i have been to. Locally loved and great food made with love by the family!
Delicious food, server very nice, & professional
This was some of the nicest people, so friendly, and happy about everything. I just loved meeting them and the food was delightful. Im so looking forward to seeing them again when im in santa monica again.
One of the few hole in the walls left that delivers great taste❣
Not the greatest, but they’re open late. Nothings really vegan. But they were able to make me mixed vegetables with soy sauce because everything else has fish sauce. Their fishtanks inside their building look horrible and literally looks like a prison for their poor little fish but I do like all the plants that they have.
This place sucks. Expensive and the the food is not good AT ALL. very disappointed.
Best place around
Quite possibly the most mediocre Thai food I’ve ever had. We ordered delivery from Uber Eats — the pad Thai was stale, the shrimps were so over cooked that they were chewy, and the beef satay was almost beef jerky.
Delicious
First of all it's not Thai restaurant. It's a Chinese restaurant. Yes, Chinese dishes are ok. But Thai dishes are horrible. I wouldn't recommend this place for Thai.
Red curry and shrimps with spinach are amazing, don't forget to ask an Thai Thea.
Delicious THAI food, generous portions, good prices and humorous family owned... Poom Thai unintentionally screams for return customers.
I live at hostel and was order curry and rice but don’t get spoon and fork . How can I eat my food ?
My favorite! Family owned and operated with fun decor. A real hole in the wall comfort food experience. It feels like you’re being let inside someone’s home. Or art studio
I love this place! been eating here for 18 years
Have been coming here for years. So sad that takeout doesn't taste the same...
Lovely Place!)
Great service. The food is always hot when I get it. Staff is super friendly. Good amount of food for the price.
Nite is so sweet & compassionate - dog friendly & vegan friendly, yummy rice & thai tea with no cream is my go to.
House salad 🥗 😋 😍
Best Thai food on the west side!!
Poom thai love you long time!!! Red curry and combo fried rice were top notch with extremely generous portions. Missing fork and napkins so minus a star
The dumpling soup was amazing! I wasn't a huge fan of the egg rolls though.
Love the Tom kha kai soup. Food is consistently good quality.
Dope Thai food. Support this local business.
Disgusting stay away
Food good , but super expensive, for what you get !
I got there , ordered food and gave my card . The guy went away for very long time . I wanted to take my card and went out , since there was a lot of drivers going in and out . It had been too long . There were tables which we didn’t have to cross them . I called somebody to give my card back several times , but no one answered me . Then I just pulled my head over the tables and called the waiter again . Suddenly appeared a balled guy and very rudely and defiantly moved a sign to right in front of me to show that I am not allowed to cross it . However , I just wanted to get my card back . There was no need for discourteous actions . By the way I got my card back in 7 minutes after that -.-
Good vegan options 🙂
Great food and service! My favorite Thai place in LA.
Fooooddd for belly Pooja. Amazing service and care
Incredible food with such a wonderful family vibe. My favorite Thai food in LA — great for groups! Exceptional dishes - especially Panang curry!
It was amazing! Really
Delicious food and cool decor!
Amazing
Sehr gutes, günstiges Thai Essen.
Excellent food! Friendly service! 5-stars
Excellent
Excellent food
Updated to just 1 star now, NOT 5 stars any longer!! They do not put peanuts in their Pad Thai anymore, claiming people have allergies to them, Boo!!!! STAY AWAY! :'( Nasty turtle cage too, as they serve turtle, Yucky! Little known secret--
Worst Thai place ever.
Little place with big flavors. Fresh ingredients authentically prepared. Owners cook and serve wonderful food. Thank you Poom.
It's the BEST!!! No Frills-just fantastic healthy...
Best green curry in town.
Not a friendly place for someone who has allergies. The chef/owner threw a hissy fit and was practically cursing me out for not telling him about my allergies when I specifically did. How about instead of getting mad at a customer for your forgetfulness and just recooking the dish? What’s a loss of $ for 1 dish’s ingredients and maybe 10 minutes of your time for $ from a loyal returning customer? You bet I’ll be telling people about my experience, Satdha is a better Thai food restaurant just up the street. Service and food is wayyyyyy better at Satdha.
Ambiente acolhedor, super descolado! Comida boa com preço acessível. Bebida com preços mais altos.
Intimate and excellent!
ยำปลาหมึกใส่ขิง+โหรพา คิดได้ไง☹☹
Awesome
Muy rico y precio accesible.
Kind, helpful, and professional personell. Fresh and properly prepared food as well as drinks. Good quality on raw materials.
Weekly customer for 3 years! Not coming back after a Postmates driver was unable to pick up the food. We called and tried to pick up the order ourselves - they said no we couldn't. So we tried to place a new order, the man speaking to us yelled madly "TOO BUSY" and hung up. Food is basically average tasting anyway. We only went because it was close. Save your money for somewhere that respects you.
The pothos plants and fish tank are amazing. The food is great too.
Tom yum so delicious.
great tasting food and service
The worst food sucks complete robbery
To be honest the place looks a bit shady but once you actually look around it shut a very unique dequor full of character. On top of that their pad tai and green curry were very good. 5/5
Nice cozy Resturant with real good food
Delicious soups! Make sure you try the lunch special
Food was cheap, came out fast, and tasted good. Small restaurant with a big menu.
I love this place been eating here over 10 years
Poom! There it is! Excellent yellow curry with boneless chicken & just enough spiciness without being overbearing. Although I love really spicy, my body doesn't. The panang and pad Thai were as also quite yummy. The service was excellent.
Meh food. Rude service. Gross decor and cleanliness.
We ordered takeaway from poon Thai and were distressed to find a large insect in our meal. We were unable to discuss further but I could not recommend the restaurant.
best thai restaraunt, thom kai soup is the best
Poom Thai is the absolute best. It’s my go-to when I’m craving Thai food. I have yet to try something on the menu that I didn’t love. I always do delivery, which is fast and the food always comes warm. Love this place.
The owners are rude, noticed them yelling at another customer for wanting extra rice. Seriously? Place is loaded full of turtle feces and serves turtle soup which should be illegal. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone, it doesn't even deserve a star. The Mom, Pop, and Son like to argue with their guests instead of making them happy. Stay away.
You know you are in trouble when they have panda brand soy sauce. The Tom kha soup tastes like fish instead of delicious but the other dishes were fine.
Ordered thru Postmates. Sure big portion but I ordered chicken curry with potatoes. What I got was a order of mushroom and I mean all mushroom with some chicken. The yellow curry was a soup it was aweful. So disappointed!
Yum
Great food! Great Price! 👍🏼👍🏼
I had the pad Thai. It was ok. The restaurant itself is not the cleanest looking. Owner and servers are friendly.
Delicious and fair priced food. Waiter was a gentleman. Definitely going to return!
Extremely old school local spot. Simple, hearty food, big portions, good prices. It's family run and very informal so the service isn't the best, but its a great place to hang out with friends without the staff bothering you
Poom Thai is best Thai
Staying in a nearby hotel, I ordered takeout and it was absolutely delicious! Felt sorry for the hardworking staff though, as it was a very busy night and they appeared to be stretched really thin.
Try the pad see ew it's alright
So ameeeezing
Great taste, excellent dinner special
My friends and I love coming here after a day at the beach. The owners are helpful and very gracious to everyone. They love the company and messages left all over the walls.
Great Thai food owners are very friendly you can write message on the walls very nice atmosphere
food portions were more, to share between two
The Best!! Jeff & Pauline
