Diner Review №1

Delicious food, plenty of seating and a beautiful restaurant interior. Pad Thai and Tom Kah were awesome.

Diner Review №2

Food is great. Authentic flavours. Highly highly recommend the coconut soup with mixed seafood 5/5. The portion on the drunken noodle was quite small, as in 5 noodle strands, but delicious, nonetheless. Eggplant delight was meh 3/5. Pineapple fried rice was well seasoned, 4/5.

Service leaves a lot to be desired. Servers looked unhappy. Didn't ask us for spice levels, if we needed any water or drinks, or even when we are done / want to order desserts.

Overall solid 3 stars.

Diner Review №3

Best pho I’ve found in Santa Cruz! Ordered takeout on a whim and it was yum with all of the fixings and still hot after a 15 minute drive home. Will be back!

Diner Review №4

Lovely place! 4 min walk from our hotel Paradox autograph collection. The service was quick. The food was yummy. Enjoy the Pad Thai, basil chicken dish and papaya salad. Highly recommend.

Diner Review №5

Drunken noodles was spicy but very good

Diner Review №6

Diner Review №7

The Pad Thai I ordered was slightly burned.
Service was fast and friendly though.

Diner Review №8

Recently, my family and I had the pleasure of dining at Sala Thai, a charming restaurant that serves authentic Thai dishes. Pumpkin curry was amazing Creamy, rich, and perfectly spiced, basil fried rice, coconut milk soup...everything was so good. The staff very friendly, and the atmosphere was casual and welcoming.

Diner Review №9

Food was good. Host was friendly. But im staying at a hotel and i ordered takeout. I didnt get utensils. I had to get back in my car and drive to 711 for a fork. I made sure to ask for utensils in my order and i left a tip. Very frustrating.

Diner Review №10

The food was excellent. Drunken noodles and Tom Kha w/mixed vegetable. Very strong and delicious flavors. I'll go back again

Diner Review №11

a must visit when in santa cruz. the best thai in town.

Diner Review №12

Diner Review №13

We travelled to visit the place from the mid west and tried this place.. didn’t have big hopes.. it was thanksgiving day and this was the place open.. but to my surprise the food was excellent and delicious. The staff were attentive too. A place worth to dine in.!

Diner Review №14

Diner Review №15

Tried the papaya salad with prawns. It was delicious..my dish came with about 4 prawns tho. The Tom kah was really great flavor. The spring rolls they offer only a tofu option, but they were great. The green curry is delicious. Veggies are crisp. They checked on us a lot and we're friendly but they cleaned up the table so quickly and we're standing so nearby that it felt like we were being rushed to leave. Parking is a small lot

Diner Review №16

Surprisingly good in every way.

Diner Review №17

Best Restaurant in whole Santa Cruz especially if you like asian food. Must-visit afterwards you won’t regret it and will always want to come back. Super tasty food and very friendly staff. 10/10 highly recommended.

Diner Review №18

Diner Review №19

Have eaten here a few times and the food is always great! Had Panang curry with prawns. Can also recommend the papaya salad and Thai spring roles with soft rice paper. Excellent.

Diner Review №25

Had Dinner here with family after a visit at the Broadwalk before driving 3 hours back home. The short lady with glasses was extremely rude and unprofessional. There is no need to yell and treat my family like we are stupid and rolling your eyes. Its our first time visiting, at least give time for us to order! Portions were small. Veggies were overcooked. The food taste like microwave Pai Thai. Pho was served with 3 pieces of beef. Which was charged extra. Seriously?!? The hotpot was not for 4 people as the eye glass short lady said, but for 1.5. Frozen pieces were a few. You get mostly premade broth. Will not come here again. Im surprised with this attitude and overpriced menu, this place still exist. Go somewhere else and save yourself from this negative short eye glasses lady! Would give 0 stars...but I guess the 1 star is for the lotus decoration.

Diner Review №26

Delicious tasting Thai food, excellent customer service. Atmosphere was authentic, love this place

Diner Review №27

Me and my family loves this place. The preparation is perfect, the spices are balanced and there are no short cuts. My family makes sure we stop for lunch here whenever we are in Santa Cruz.

Diner Review №28

Fantastic Thai food. Highly recommend.

Diner Review №29

I have been local from Santa Cruz for over 10 years. Since the new owner took over in 2015 I cannot stop eating there. Best Thai food in the area by far ! The service is top notch … everyone is friendly and the food is super fresh. Parking is great too I have a large truck no issues.

Diner Review №30

Diner Review №31

We loved dining here, greeted as soon as we walked into the door. Our servers were amazing. The food was the best we have ever had. The beef and chicken for was so good. Pad Thai and pad see ew was perfect. Anytime we visit again we will be back

Diner Review №32

Best Thai food we have had in years. Food came out very fast, and was flavorful and delicious. Service was awesome. Come here now, and you will have the experience of a lifetime!

Diner Review №33

Appetizers chicken satay and tom yum soup came together. Next came the Basil dish but without serving spoon. Requested for it but didn’t receive it. At that time we asked for the basil fried rice and the server gave us an annoyed look. Overall food was good but service could have been better.

Diner Review №34

Amazing spicy authentic Thai cuisine. Small portions and reasonably priced

Diner Review №35

Basil fried rice with tofu or chicken is super excellent.

Diner Review №39

The service was amazing, the staff are really kind, especially the one at the front desk! The structure and atmosphere of everything was just beautiful, the vaulted ceiling just add to the experience and the plants were very nice. The food was delicious, I recommend the spring rolls!

Diner Review №40

It's really good.

Diner Review №41

Diner Review №42

First time coming here, last time for me. I ordered the yellow veggies curry. It was really spicy, asked if we could order another dish with it being not spicy. She said ok. But she just brought out a bowl of soup of yellow curry with no veggies, and said to mix it with my other food. What the heck. Yeah that didn't work, now I have no dinner to eat. Not returning.

Diner Review №43

Excellent food and really enjoyed the ambiance!
Definite stop in Santa Cruz for Thai indulgence

Diner Review №44

Food was very good. Chicken beef all were great. This is the first time veg phò tasted so good. Papaya salad was very tasty too

Diner Review №48

Sala Thai Santa Cruz is wonderful! I order their Pad Thai at least once a week

Diner Review №49

So friendly, clean and food so yummy! My favorite place.

Diner Review №50

A well decorated Thai food place, serving all kinds of Thai food: currys, wok stir fry, fried rice. Its duck related dishes are recommended to try.

Diner Review №51

Unhelpful and impolite with pick up order. I expect to be treated better. I don't mind waiting, but being unwilling to even communicate, not ok. Food was fine. Real Thai Kitchen was closed...

Diner Review №52

Diner Review №53

This is my new favorite Thai restaurant! Excellent food, service and atmosphere. I walked in the door and was smiling. Still smiling hours later.

Diner Review №54

Some of the best pad thai I’ve had! Incredibly quick service, delicious food, great service.

Diner Review №55

Diner Review №56

Diner Review №57

The food was great, the waitress not much.

Diner Review №58

Diner Review №59

Diner Review №60

Delicious Pho ! Friendly staff!

Diner Review №61

We ordered $160 worth of food delivered to us, all items were below half way mark of the box it came in, when we called to complain the woman said that’s how their portion size is, I tried to explain to her that after paying so much for even the chow mein it wasn’t even enough for one child, the woman hung up on me and that’s why I rated them that low, when you hang up on a customer that says a lot about your customer service, it was very rude and me coming from a customer service industry -hanging up on a customers face is a big no no, food was okay but each item was super small size

Diner Review №62

Diner Review №63

Diner Review №64

Diner Review №65

Everything thing was fine. Rice included unlike many other restaurants with ala carte items

Diner Review №66

Diner Review №67

I have come here for over 10yrs! Don't come to santa cruz without getting take out here!!!

Diner Review №68

This is now our second time coming here. Had to visit again because this is one of the best Thai food me and my wife have had! The Drunken noodles aren’t always a success at other places but the flavor of these is incredible. Red and yellow curries are a hit as well. Service is very good as well. Would come back again any day!

Diner Review №69

Food was wonderful. Fast service
Nice atmosphere child friendly

Diner Review №70

Awesome fresh food. Beautiful ambiance inside the restaurant with great service! Great place for Thai in Santa Cruz!

Diner Review №71

Diner Review №72

Comfortable ambience and good service.
Their spicy is spicy enough. Never ask them to make it spicy more than what the basic level is, else it is going to be like a burst of red chilli in every bite.
Overall food was okay.

Diner Review №73

👍🏼

Diner Review №74

Diner Review №75

The fried tofu salad was fine and had flavor but the “Thai egg rolls” were the bland cabbage-filled “Chinese” kind available in bags, frozen at the supermarket. Waste of money.

Diner Review №76

Good vibe but the food was not.
Salty and didn’t taste like authentic Thai food

Diner Review №77

Good food. Spice level was perfect…. I like spicy.

Diner Review №78

I'm writing this review after visiting them for the second place. This will be a must visit for me everytime I visit Santa Cruz. Breaking down the review into different categories,

1. Ambience - Very zen like with all the house plants at every nook and corner of the restaurant. If you are a house plant enthusiast, you will be very busy trying to name all the plants while you wait for your table. Can't get enough of the greenery.

2. Vegetarian Food - Very delicious Thai food with plenty of vegetarian options. Thai food in some places despite not containing meat will be made with Oyster Sauce. This place has the option of skipping the Oyster Sauce to make it truly vegetarian. I tried their fresh rolls, Thai curries and my favorite remains Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mao). Portion sizes are smaller than standard American sizes. You can order one dish per person. They already have Vietnamese Pho with vegetarian broth.

3. Price - Nominal, not high end

4. Parking - Plenty of parking on their own parking lot, easy to find.

5. Wait times - Both times I was seated within 5 minutes

Verdict - 5/5 in Thai category

Diner Review №79

Diner Review №80

The food was delicious. I had the Pad Thai and it's so hard to get good Pad Thai but this one was amazingly good.

Diner Review №81

Great food and the staff was super friendly and attentive.

Diner Review №82

Mediocre Thai food
Environment okay

Diner Review №83

Good

Diner Review №84

I love this place! Really fresh and yummy Thai food in Santa Cruz.

Diner Review №85

Not authentic thai food, closer to Chinese food style than Thai..

Diner Review №86

Cashew nut chicken was awful. We were surprised to find out that there were no cashews in it at all.

Diner Review №87

All of the food was delicious and it came to the table quickly!

Diner Review №88

I am an Indian trying thai food for the first time in my life and don't quote me on this, this is my personal experience. Tried their Tom Kha, basil fried rice, noodles and red curry. Tom kha is a coconut milk based soup with veggies, it was good. Basil fried rice was a bit spicy and the spice really hits you. The noodles along with the grilled tofu was the one I liked the most. The red curry with tofu and veggies was good. Over all, all the dishes have a sweet taste to it. The ambience is good.

Diner Review №89

Lunch at this highly recommended restaurant from a local lead to this green thai restaurant. Ambience of a arboretum with green potted plants all over. Full menu at lunch. Ordered tom yum bowl, bbq duck with steamed rice. All flavorful and good portions. Mango sticky rice not in season. Chef special curry looked tempting. Be back.. the greens can be toned down..

Diner Review №90

Gotten food from here twice. First time was my first night in Santa Cruz, got some red curry and egg rolls. It was all delicious! I think I was given 6 egg rolls and the curry was a generous portion.

Second time, we got pho, shrimp rolls, and crab Rangoon. It was all great, not a single bad thing to say. The leftover pho was even delicious the next day. Generous amount of meat given in the combination 1 pho. Total $50 for 2 of us which is not bad!

The staff was very nice and everything came out quickly. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. Highly recommend eating here

Diner Review №91

Favorite restaurant in Santa Cruz in terms of the overall atmosphere, food, and service. The food is AMAZING. To top it all off, they have AMAZING vegetarian options. There's honestly something for everyone on the menu. Even just bbq chicken if you're picky and scared to try something new. It's a great place to try Thai food for the first time. The mock-chicken pho is my favorite. I always crave food from this place. Great price for the quality of food.

Diner Review №92

Atmosphere great. Basil Fried Rice and Chicken Drunken Noodles were amazing. Small portions so order more for family style. Definitely ask to reduce the spice level to mild since the regular spice level was tough even for some spice loving Indians.

Diner Review №93

Ok food and not so friendly service. The pad see ew and basil chicken were the better of the 5 things we ordered. The pho was not flavorful at all - that's on us for ordering it in a Thai restaurant.

Diner Review №94

Fried rice is too salty and the pho soup tastes like plain water…

Diner Review №95

Diner Review №96

Delicious! My favorite

Diner Review №97

I don't ever do reviews but these people are heating up and selling Costco egg rolls as their own lmao. Very lame food.

Diner Review №98

This as the second time visiting, Very mediocre Food. Curry was too watery. Rice was extremely dry almost felt stale. But since not many places with vegetarian options are open near Santa Cruz after 8.00. This spot can be good for hungry tummies.

Diner Review №99

Very authentic Thai food and the taste is amazing. The spice level is medium but flavor is very rich. This was a random pick and turned out to be great. Entree portion size sufficient for 2 people to share 2-3 items.

Diner Review №100

I don’t know if we caught them on an off day or what, but the food was not good. Both the pad Thai and the peanut dish were wayyyyy too sweet. The brown rice was undercooked too.

My husband is allergic to shrimp and had ordered pad Thai with tofu but we think utensils contaminated with shrimp must have been used to serve the pad Thai because he left with a really bad stomach ache.

It’s a beautiful atmosphere inside but I’m afraid the food just isn’t worth it.

Diner Review №101

Diner Review №102

Loooove love love this place! The food is always outstanding and they have a huge variety of dishes. So many great flavors and the vegetables are so fresh!

Diner Review №103

Diner Review №104

Everything was so good. And a very nice waitress served us.

Diner Review №105

Great food! Great Service! We were very well taken care of. We were a party of 6 and really enjoyed our time. I had the red curry and it was excellent. We will be back!

Diner Review №106

We came for dinner around 730. They seated us quickly and the women working that evening were all very friendly. We tried the shrimp roll, chicken satay, tofu salad, and the bbq pork, we thought everything with delicious and the orders came out paced with our drinks. It was a really good experience and I will think of this spot the next time we are in Santa Cruz.

Diner Review №107

This place was amazing!! My family and I love Thai food and this is one of the best places we have been to! We will definitely be going back to Sala Thai and would absolutely recommend it!

Diner Review №108

Got Pad Thai. Walked half an hour each way (past a closer Thai place) for it. No regrets, 10/10 will come again. 3 plates for $20 worth of pad thai!

Diner Review №109

Good Food. Good vibe.

Diner Review №110

Diner Review №111

Chicken satay was juicy and has the traditional charred flavor which was tasty. Peanut sauce was too thick.

Beef yum salad was skimpy. A few slices of meat served over iceberg lettuce. It lacked herbs and freshness.

Red chicken curry with bamboo shoot was a bit watery and again lacking in freshness. The bamboo shoot was sour tasting. I ordered super spicy but got a hint of spice.

The condiment tray lacked freshness. Three dishes for $42 was reasonable but I probably wouldn't repeat or if I did, set lower expectation. This is like eating at a food court.

Service was okay.

Diner Review №112

Uno de mis restaurantes favoritos. El servicio es rápido y la comida deliciosa. Recomendada al 100%!!!

Diner Review №113

The air-conditioning today is really hot. I can feel myself sweating inside the restaurant. We ordered few things.

The yellow curry lamb: Taste was alright, but the lamb taste not as good.
Sticky rice with mango: Some of the rice is overcooked and hard.
Combination #2 Pho (Beef): Taste is good but portion is small, and I found hair inside the soup.

The services was alright with 1 waitress but not the other. The one with good service is American, and the one with bad service is from Thai.

Diner Review №114

Diner Review №115

Don’t go here if you eat gluten free (especially if you have celiac!). Two staff members told completely different information regarding ingredients and prep. Be safe out there!

Diner Review №116

The take out was good, but food is always better in the restaurant 😋
Fast wait time and easy to order by phone. Friendly staff!

Diner Review №117

Had over the restaurant open and had 15 people waiting in the waiting area

Diner Review №118

My First Ever Thai restaurant. Enjoyed the Food, The Thai Crunchy Spring Roll was superb with the sweet Peanut Dipping Sauce. Moderate . Recommended.

Diner Review №119

Diner Review №120

We were a party of 5 and we all thoroughly enjoyed. The salmon fillet was the best I'd ever tasted.

Diner Review №121

The service here was great. I had dinner on Saturday and they served a group of 35 of us. My pad thai with duck was good, though a bit salty.

Diner Review №122

Diner Review №123

Diner Review №124

I can’t believe how fast the food came out, the service was a little slow, and the menu was a little frustrating because they had things like boba on the menu but they don’t have it.. and a few other items that are just crossed out on some menus and not others.

We ordered the pad see ewe and the red curry.

The food was good overall very hot and flavorful.

Diner Review №127

Terrible experiencia con este restaurante, no es la.primera vez que mandan la.orden equivocada con el app de doordash, llamamos al restaurante para una solución y recibimos ofensas por parte del personal.. no lo recomiendo de ninguna manera

Diner Review №128

Diner Review №129

Ordered Tofu Pho, was told there were "some vegetable in it" not really any veggies, should have paid extra for "some vegetables". Ordered some Thai Egg Rolls, menu description said "stuffed with seasoned black mushrooms & shitaki mushrooms" no mushrooms present. Waitress was not helpful when brought to her attention. Disappointed with not getting what I ordered & not acknowledged or taken off bill. My friend enjoyed hers so didn't push issue.

Diner Review №135

Good food.

Diner Review №136

Amazing Tom Kha soup, and love their noodle dishes. Always quick to be sat, and food comes out quickly.

Diner Review №137

Great curry, good staff,

Diner Review №138

The food was good. However, the service was not good. The person who attended us, seems to be the manager or a senior staff. She was managing too many things and the restaurant was crowded. So, it was very slow. we were two families that went together. While ordering, we clearly asked for separate checks. However, after waiting for 20 minutes after we are done eating, and going to the desk asking for our checks, we get a single check. It also had items that we didn't order. People came after us and left before we got all the food we ordered. It seems to be a bad coincidence for us. However, the food was good and the other tables did seem to get good service too. So am rating this higher.

Diner Review №139

Yummmmm!
Usually always have curry but decided to try the Pad Thai. Asked for spicy and it was very flavorful. Thank you!

Diner Review №140

Diner Review №141

Beautiful little restaurant with amazing food! 5 stars for sure!

Diner Review №142

Excellent food. Good service. I would only deduct half a star for portion size and slightly greasier than necessary.

I ordered the drunken noodles which were delicious but only had like 2 zucchini pieces, was pretty greasy, and not as many noodles as they've had in the past. If they just added a little more zucchini and noodles and less oil it'd be excellent! I'm sure you can ask for that and they would do it..

Ultimately, gave that half star back because they substituted peanut sauce for their eggrolls at no extra charge. It came with 5 very tasty and fresh eggrolls for a very reasonable price. Was hoping for fresh spring rolls to balance the greasier drunken noodles but they were sold out.

All in all a great choice for Thai food.

Diner Review №143

Maybe the best coconut soup in town, great assortment of menu items. Fair prices, really good service they really know how to please people.

Diner Review №149

Diner Review №150

Pho is not a real pho at all. Horrible. Thai Tom yum and Thai egg rolls are too bad. How come can they sell them ? Those kinds of food for pigs, not for human. Too expensive as well

Diner Review №151

USED BANDAID IN MY CURRY!!! With blood in it!!! 🤢🤮 avoid at all costs

Diner Review №155

Diner Review №156

Fantastic Vegetable Pho.

Diner Review №157

The food was OK but either the owner or friends of the owner were there and they were being real POS's and were rude to the sever and being loud and obnoxious. ill never go again because of that.

Diner Review №158

Soooo good! Great prices too! Service was good. The only thing not-so-great was that sharing a menu amongst 3 of us. Also, I ordered the curry powder dish that was supposed to come with broccoli, but it was missing. I was not told they were out of broccoli.

Diner Review №159

Diner Review №160

Tasty chicken chow mein

Diner Review №161

We ordered yellow and panang curry, satay chicken and thai fried rice. Great portion and great taste!

Diner Review №162

First time visit since I just started working in the area. I usually order Pad Khee Mao as the first dish to every Thai restaurant I go to for the first time as a benchmark.

I'm very impressed with the dish. The flavor profile is really close to the one from the motherland. There will always be vegetables that aren't usually in the dish being served and the ones that wasn't there due to availability. Those vegetables makes sense and don't conflict with each other in terms of flavor. I like that it's not watery or soupy and even more, it has really good wok hei. You can taste the smoky and char flavor of the stir fry.

Overall, it's really good and will be going back to check out other dishes.

Thai person approved. 👍

Diner Review №163

I ordered 2 kinds of thai spicy (xxx spicy) fried rice from this establishment and was surprised and impressed that it was actually spicy. Food was delicious of course! Love that they have tofu, veggie, mock chicken, and mock duck options.

Diner Review №164

Takeout system could use a lot of improvement. Long line just to get in the door and ask about your order, people would often cut the line and go straight through the door. When I finally got in (10 min after my scheduled pick up time) I was told it would be another 20 min and I would need to wait in the line again to come in and get my order. There was almost a fight out front because of people cutting the line. I am happy to follow COVID guidelines but their organization and communication is lacking and unfair.

Food was just ok (got a couple of curries).

Diner Review №181

We were very satisfied customers before the shelter-in-place order, and I have sympathy for how hard this time is on restaurant owners. But the prices have soared and this is the second time the food we ordered has been barely edible. I would have been more generous with my rating if the price had gone up but the quality had been maintained. There won't be a third chance.

Diner Review №182

Drunken noodles and spicy basil rice very tasty. Spring rolls and egg rolls very tasty. I'll return soon.

Diner Review №183

Sala Thai is one of the most consistent and tastiest Thai restaurants I have eaten at. I travel the Country for a living and try Thai food in every city I can and they on par with the top 2 or 3 I have tasted in North America.

Highly recommend the Chicken Pho, the Pad Thai Prawns, Drunken Noodles, and Yellow Curry. Fried egg rolls are awesome too.
