Where do I start? This was our first time coming here after multiple recommendations and it did not disappoint. The ice cream was, IS, immaculate. I will say the price for a little scoop for ice cream is a bit much for what you get so honestly just get a big scoop for $2 more. The ice cream flavor range is so good, lots of vegan friendly options too! When it comes to Thai Tea I’m very picky because I don’t like when it’s too milky and sweet, let me just say this was the perfect Thai iced tea ever! We ordered the chicken pad see ew to go and we devoured it when we got home. This just became my new fave restaurant! 10/10 recommend

Our new sweet spot for comfy. fun dining. Tasty food, great service and amazing ice cream selection. ♥️

My favorite Thai restaurant in SB. Live their Eggplant and Psd See Yew.

Diner Review №4

💖💖💖 BEST RESTAURANT IN SB!!!! I’ve been coming here for years (sometimes more than once a week) and there are SO many qualities that earn this place its well-deserved title:

1️⃣. INSANE FOOD - Like I said, I’m a frequent flyer. I’ve tried a lot of their dishes and among my favorites are the yellow coconut curry, wonton soup, drunken noodles, and tom kha. Their Wednesday specials are always so unique and hard to resist. One thing I especially appreciate is the care with which takeout is packaged. I’ve gotten many takeaway soups and NEVER ONCE had a leak or a spill.

2️⃣. INCREDIBLE PEOPLE - Piti, Pui, Ahmed, and the rest of the crew are some of the best folks ever. They’re kind, caring, and honestly just such cool people. They truly are the heart and soul of this place, and we look forward to seeing them as much as the food we so love.

3️⃣. ICE CREAM PARTY (need I say more?) - Creaminal is HANDS DOWN the best ice cream in SB. I said it. It’s true. The incredibly unique flavors are available all week long, but I especially love No Sad Sundaes every Saturday night. It’s a vital part of my weekend routine.

Your Choice is such a special place. It holds so many of my favorites meals and memories, and will continue to do so for years to come! 💞

Been here many times and always is a great experience! Can’t go wrong with any of the dishes, and the Thai tea Oreo ice cream is a MUST! Get a pint, so delicious! We visited again last Sunday and had a wonderful dinner, but I accidentally left my purse there. Called today and was able to retrieve it! So very thankful!!!! Please if you’re looking for a yummy Thai place, here it is!

The wanton soup is another level

Diner Review №9

Very good Thai food restaurant with a great variety of choices and everything can be made Vegan with very few exceptions
I’ve been going there for over 30 years

Diner Review №10

Ironic that this place is called your choice because when I want to try a sample of ice cream before paying $13 for a whole thing of it, the guy at the front has an attitude and is rude to me. Is it *really* my choice? Doesn't seem like it.

The curry here is amazing. Most of the staff has been nice, but there is one young skinny guy with glasses who has been rude to me EVERY time without fail.

For those who don't know: This spot doubles as a thai restaurant and ice cream shop. Both parts of it are delicious.

The first time I came in I had wanted to try the thai tea oreo ice cream but they were out, I was told to come back the next week. I got butter pecan instead and it was delicious.

The next time I came in, I went up and to the counter and this guy was there... No greeting, just looks at me. I asked if I could try Kathy's Dream and the thai tea oreo ice cream. There was nobody else in the front and the resaturant had almost no customers that day - and he looks at me with hesitation and sort of scoffs and goes "Uh... I'm in the middle of scooping ice cream into pints, I'm doing Kathy's Dream right now so I guess I could let you try that one but I'm not getting the thai tea out for you to try. Sorry" Mind you... the thai tea ice cream was in the freezer right below where he was standing, he was just lazy. I explained I had wanted to try that ice cream since the previous week and he goes "Yea... sorry" then goes back to scooping pints.

Fast forward - ANOTHER week passes and we come in to pick up some curry for take out. There is a huge line of people and not once does he say to anyone "Hey, if you're eating in you can go sit where you'd like" instead he wait for each person to get to the front and tells them that after they have been standing for ages. 3/4 of the parties in front of me were just standing in line because they thought they needed to be seated to get a table, but there was no communication from the staff. I finally get up to the counter, my food's ready, and in my head I'm like "YES.... I can finally try this ice cream I have been wanting to try for weeks now!" then I ask if I can try it and... Ah, guess who is there? The same guy from last time, who looks at me and goes "Uh, sorry - I can't get you a sample there are people behind you waiting." I'm sorry but what? Why are you working at an ice cream shop that charges $13 for a pint if you are going to get mad at people for wanting to try the ice cream before buying it. I also would totally understand turning down giving a sample when there is a line if I didn't already know that this guy was just lazy and hadn't already had a nasty attitude to me the first time I spoke to him. I also couldn't help but laugh at him saying there is a line when I knew that most of those people just needed to simply be told "you can go pick a seat!" It's crazy to me because I have worked in food service so many years and I don't know how somebody can get a job that calls for being a kind and hospitable person when there are so many other fields you can go into if that's something that is hard for you. I'm kind to people wherever I go and I genuinely just can't wrap my mind around how this guy got that job.

Oh and the cherry on top, when my friend had gone up to the counter to ask a random menu question a different day, he was rude to him too and acted like my friend was bothering him. Again, when there was almost nobody in the restaurant.

I just... I'm so sad because I love this restaurant but this guy has really kind of soured my feelings towards this place. It's a shame because we just moved here and have loved all the food we have tried so far but I don't really know if it's worth making myself sad just to eat something I like. Even if it wasn't the ice cream, it would have been something else. The host at the counter is simply rude and clearly doesn't like his job - or people. If you want good service and a good experience... I (sadly) don't recommend. At all.

Diner Review №11

Your Choice has great food! Their rice is the best in town and before the pandemic they were great for a large group of people. Even with take-out their food is still delicious and will leave you satisfied.

Love this place ❤️

Diner Review №15

The tamarind chili chicken wings are fried to perfection. It's thr perfect crispy wing covered in a tamarind tangy sauce. Pickles chillies are sprinkled over for a subtle crunch and slight heat. Would definitely suggest as an appetizer. Don't be afraid to ask for more heat.

Diner Review №17

The quality of the food was amazing - definitely the reason why I’m giving 5 stars. However, it is not my favorite Thai place. There’s nothing worse than to walk out of a restaurant while still being hungry after spending more than $50. The portions are smaller compared to other Thai restaurants I’ve been to. Please note that a small bowl of rice for the curry bowls cost $3 extra. The service was exceptional.

This is one of my favorite restaurant's in town! The food is delicious and the service is just as good. We come here for every birthday or special event because they never disappoint, highly recommend!!

Diner Review №24

Typical Santa Barbara struggle- decent Thai food, but terrible service. After a fiasco on my birthday, I’ll never return. Please be aware that the server will likely only visit your table once during your visit, except to grab the check. That’s when you will realize that the gratuity has already been included and forced- which explains why the service is such trash!

Diner Review №25

Delicious food

Diner Review №26

The food is very good and it's a good value. The spicy drunken noodles are amazing

Diner Review №27

Had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. Ordered three curries and rice wasn't included; found out after a call that it's a separate purchase, which wasn't communicated during ordering. The special eggplant was overly oily, making it hard to enjoy. It was take out order.

Diner Review №31

Enjoyed a fantastic meal at Your Choice last night. My first time here, and it did not disappoint. We came early Sunday after they opened and were seated quickly next to the window by Christina our waitress. She was super friendly and we chatted about the menu and asked her recommendations and we ordered appetizers and dinner. Christina went out of her way to make sure we were happy with our meal. The restaurant was really spacious and even though they were busy the staff were attentive and kept our water full and the table cleared, dinner was served so quickly. My wife and I shared two meals and we were both so impressed how great the food was. We enjoyed the music playing while we finished dinner and sampled the tasty ice cream and never felt rushed. We definitely will be back, my Wife has already made this her new favorite Thai spot. Thanks again to Christina for your recommendation, we loved the Wings, Rangoons, The Pad C Noodles were so bomb and the Pineapple Fried Rice was amazing.

Diner Review №32

Words can’t express what a great experience we had there. The service was amazing and the food was delicious. I’m extremely picky about my thai food since It’s my favorite food in the world and this restaurant has lived up to my standards. The young lady who helped was was extremely helpful and her recommendations were spot on. We never once had to ask for a refill because she had it on the table before we were done with our drinks. The table we were seated had the perfect view of the area and the atmosphere was romantic and peaceful something parents need when they are having a date night without kids. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family if they are in the Santa Barbara area. We are definitely returning next time we are visiting the Santa Barbara area again.

Diner Review №33

Diner Review №34

This is my favorite Thai food in Santa Barbara, by far :) I highly recommend all of their dishes, their Tom Kha, their desserts, and their homemade ice cream!!! They close at 7:30pm, which is an awkward time for dinner, but everything else is great!

Diner Review №35

Placed online order for curry dish and extra rice, left a $9 tip. I requested that they add potato to the curry which I had done many times before. When we picked up the order they wanted an addition $1 for the potato. We did not have out wallets with us so we could not pay the addition $1. They took the food back to the kitchen and removed the potato and the extra rice(which we had paid for).
The food was below average. The rice we did receive was old and the curry was subpar. I often frequented this restaurant for the last 20 years. I will never return again.

Diner Review №36

Food is lack luster, appears pre made. Not with the high prices for what you get.

Diner Review №37

Diner Review №38

Casual but tasty Thai restaurant! Awesome local family runs it. Convenient Upper State Street location. Don’t miss the Creaminal ice cream pop up on Saturday nights!

Diner Review №39

I've been here many times. Dining in and take out. They consistently have pretty good food. Dining in is just ok, I prefer the takeout. The spicy drunken noodles and the red curry are good. Surprisingly, I think they actually have one of the worst pad thai dishes I've ever had. If you're looking for a better pad thai try empty bowl in the public market. Way better.

Diner Review №40

We ordered the pad sew yew noodles with shrimp, fried chicken and chicken satay to go.

The shrimp didn't appear fresh and it was dry. Also, the fried chicken was dry too. Both items were most likely cooked previously and then reheated!

However, the noodles were fresh and had lots of flavor, as well as the satay.

Unfortunately, we're just passing through so we're not able to give this restaurant another try.

Diner Review №41

This place goes absolutely insane. Best Thai food I’ve had outside Thailand

Diner Review №42

Bare bones decor, which is my preference, delicious food. We ordered the pineapple chicken curry, and there was more than enough for us to split (note: we're in our mid-seventies). Attentive, friendly service.

My husband and I love Your Choice! They have the BEST owners, Piti and Kathy, they also have the best servers! The food is always amazing; the green curry is always a hit, the chicken ginger soup is a must when feeling sick and the wings are some of the best we have ever had! We love their yummy drinks and mango sticky rice too!

Diner Review №53

Stopped here for a quick lunch and it did not disappoint. I got the drunken noodles and they were great!

Diner Review №54

This place literally was the worst experience ever, racist waiters. I’m Hispanic and the waiters would serve others with smiles, with us they completely ignored us and made faces. When we got the food it looked like they were gonna throw the food at us, food was pretty good, but the service was so bad, 3 star just for the food. But the service -4.

Diner Review №55

The place was dirty, too crowded, and disorganized. The service was slow and the food was not good at all.

Diner Review №56

The pumpkin curry was delicious.

Diner Review №57

Everything we tried here (which was quite a lot) was spectacularly crafted. The wings were crispy, veggie rolls had fresh crunchy veggies inside, curry was flavorful beyond belief, and glass noodles were spot on!

We had always come on Saturday mornings for Kin Bakeshop donuts and kept mentioning we needed to come back for dinner, and wish we made it sooner!

Diner Review №58

Such a sad little place. No charm and just very average food.

Diner Review №59

Great orange peel beef. Possibly the best Chinese food in SB.

Diner Review №60

By far the best Thai food in Santa Barbara, and one of our favorites in all of California.

Be sure to call or check their Instagram for weekly specials!

Diner Review №61

Our choice for Thai food in Santa Barbara. Consistent good food and homemade ice cream. Well established with prompt good service.

Diner Review №62

Good Ice Cream

Diner Review №63

It's a good Thai restaurant, no the best I had in Santa Barbara but good

Diner Review №64

I've been ordering from Your Choice for several years and it just keeps getting better and better. The food is fresh, flavorful and delicious AND their online ordering system is very easy.

Diner Review №65

This place has gone waaaaaaaay downhill! Stay away. Extremely expensive also.

Diner Review №66

I honestly don't understand the appeal. The atmosphere is terrible. (talk about a hole in the wall) The food is mediocre. All my friends and family like this place so I normally just go with the flow. I normally order 1 thing from the menu and but they would only accommodate my order 1 time (really spicy) and after that they wouldn't make it that way again. I don't have many things I like to order and and then they removed the last thing I like from their main menu.

We had a party show up to their establishment at 7pm. They said they closed at 730pm and wouldn't be able to seat us. After taking our group to another location (carpooling for some) we returned to the location to drop off some of our party. They were still open at 920pm. So what's the deal? You could have simply said you weren't going to fully accommodate such a large party and you'd have to separate us. I don't know and I don't care.

Diner Review №71

Amazing Thai food! It has been our go-to spot since we moved to SB and we order almost weekly. They also have some of the best ice cream in town. A must try!

Diner Review №72

F-L-A-V-O-R-F-U-L food! Everything here is amazing, the ambience (under a solarium), the staff (sweethearts🥰) and the food with amazing portion size!!

We had several dietary restrictions and the staff was super accommodating. My recommendations are to try the grilled shrimp skewers, vegetable spring rolls (the sauce is amazing) & Thai iced tea with lime! 😃

Diner Review №73

One of the worst Thai restaurants ever. Ordered a Thai salad and Yum Tum soup. Both were horrible. Salad seemed to come from a 99cent store package. It had red cabbage which isn't used in authentic Thai salads the peanut sauce was mediocre, barely passable... the soup wasn't even hot and had way too much mushrooms and old chicken. I spit out the soup on the 1st taste. Had to go to an in and out burger afterwards to eat something edible.

Diner Review №74

Stopped for dinner while driving through SB and loved this place! Got the pad see ew, crab Rangoon, and combination fried rice to share between two people. We had leftovers to go as the portions are generous. The food is amazing but so is the well lit dining area with positive and attentive staff. Definitely will be back when coming through!

Diner Review №75

I’ve been coming here for many years. This place is the go-to for Thai catering as well as dine-in. As of June 2022, they are remodeling so their tables are limited, but food is still great and service fast. Spicy drunken noodles and eggplant special were delicious!

I'm a regular here, service is humorous, and attentive, food is generally served fairly quick, taste is amazing!

Diner Review №79

This place has the best be Thai food in Santa Barbara. High quality ingredients and taste, I love their lunch specials!

Diner Review №80

Very average in my opinion, at best. Online ordering is often not working and they don't take call in orders. Given the other options in SB, this is really the last one you should consider

Diner Review №81

True hidden gem. Your Choice is an excellent Thai restaurant

Diner Review №82

Fantastic meal, genuine homely atmosphere with excellent quality food

Diner Review №83

I went here before Covid, it was good food and service. Today we were told waiting for 35 minutes. Just about to leave, some people left, leaving an empty table to be cleaned. We thought we would get it in a minute. I asked if we could sit after cleaning the table and he said “just a sec”. I waited for 5 minutes, watching him busy with stuff. Finally I asked how long, I was told “20 minutes”. Then why were you telling me “just a sec” first and now “20 minutes”??????

Diner Review №84

Diner Review №85

Best yellow curry in town, all of my friends agree. Best Thai ice cream flavors (Oreo Thai Tea is a must try) Each dish is executed with perfection.

Diner Review №92

My fav thai restaurant in SB. Great family recipes that the son has now taken over from his folks and has kept the quality going.

Since covid however, seating is extremely limited. I hope this aspect changes back to full capacity

Edit: last time we ate here, food was over salted, and poor tasting. Probably the worst thai experience i ever had with takeaway. It was almost as if they had new cooks or something. Its been over 2 months and we haven’t wanted to return (that bad). With SB $$ i’d say its a no deal. Literally the antithesis of my original review. We have been regulars for years- maybe another try but I’m not sure it will be better and the price is not justified to gamble.

Diner Review №178

Diner Review №179

Great food and staff! I have never been disappointed with any dish I have gotten there.

Diner Review №180

I have been coming to this restaurant for at least 10 years. The quality of the food and atmosphere has only gotten better with the years. This is rare with restaurants in Santa Barbara but if there is one secret to keeping your doors open and lasting longer than a few years as a restaurant owner in this town it would be not cutting corners with the food. Santa Barbara locals are a tough crowd. We know when you do this and we will stop coming as soon as the food gets cheap and the quality takes a dive.

On the other hand, if you keep making things *better* word gets out and people will come. This is the case with "Your Choice" Thai. When I used to go here years ago with friends it was decent Thai food. Nothing to complain about. Now? The ingredients are so fresh, the dishes are all so well made.

When I compare it to other newer Thai restaurants in Santa Barbara and Goleta I already know which ones will be closed in the next few years if they can't figure out how to make a decent Curry sauce!

They have a great (efficient) take out service in the front of the house with plenty of room for people to wait for their orders without disturbing the folks staying for dinner. And trust me, you will see a crowd of people waiting for their take out on certain nights of the week! They have three walls worth of booths with the back wall booths flexible for large parties. The center of the dining room has tables that can be arranged to fit various sized parties and the entire front of the house also has tables looking out across Upper State Street and Loretto Plaza.

That's another thing to make a note of, this *not* the location (Your Place) on Milpas Street, this is on Upper State Street. (Your Choice) There is plenty of parking but it does get full during dinner time. Not to worry though, there is parking on the side streets in the San Roque neighborhood.

I almost don't want everyone to know about my favorite Thai restaurant because this will make them even busier. But as long as they keep the quality of their food and dining experience top notch it should be ok! They really have earned it.

One last thing, the service. They are basically a well oiled machine at this point. They have added a lot of new staff from what I have seen. Some of the newer servers are very green but all of them are very friendly and polite. The more seasoned servers will serve you your first cup of tea and ladle your first cup of soup for you. Newer servers are more likely to just put it down on the table and leave you to it. However no matter who is serving you they are all interested in helping you with whatever it is you need. If you are waiting for your take out order they will check on it for you and find out how much longer it will be, whatever specific need you have will always be attended to by whomever catches your eye first. I have never experienced any rudeness or inefficiency with anyone there. Just levels of experience. Which is completely forgivable.

This is basically the restaurant I will go to when I want to br guaranteed to have a positive experience. So far I have never been disappointed.

Pictured: Phad Thai with Tofu, Thom Kha soup with Veggies, Green Tea, Pa Nang Curry with Tofu and rice. My Mom and I had a wonderful vegetarian spread. We don't always go vegetarian but felt like it the other night. It was perfect. The leftovers were amazing too.

VERY good Thai food. Drunken noodles are incredibly flavorful, and the wide rice noodles are excellent. Fair warning, I got a "5" spicy and it was pretty incredible but right on the cusp of being too spicy to finish. To be clear, I cleaned the plate but I expect to have some concerns in a few hours :)
