Authentic Thai Food Since 1997
Good sticky rice, laab, and miang kham. Som tam was fine. I never had soda manao Singha before, but I'd skip it. Too sweet, tasted like Sprite. I'd also skip the bik gai tod because I like it dry fried and this one is served with sauce. Super friendly and polite service. Soap in the bathroom. Good dinner before a concert nearby. I'll definitely be back for more meats and salads.
We live in the East Bay but will travel to Sai Jai Thai when we can to get number 41 (BBQ Pork Shoulder with Fried Rice) on the menu! The best dish ever! I’ve tried most of the dishes and appetizers here and nothing was ever disappointing. We always finish off our meals with roti dessert topped with ice cream. Wash everything down with their freshly brewed Thai Iced Tea (try it hot w/o the cream and sugar and it’s also delicious and fragrant).
The bbq pork fried rice is really good. I've been a few times, and on this most recent visit we found not one but two hairs in our food. Perhaps there were more, but we stopped after digging up the second one. This is was unsurprising in hindsight as at least one of the people cooking in the kitchen was not wearing any hair nets. Too bad, but I probably won't go back...
We recently dined at Sai Jai Thai Restaurant and had a mix of experiences. The Mieng Come appetizer was a burst of flavors with shallot, ginger, peanuts, lime, and dried shrimp, though the chili was notably spicy. The Pad See Ew, while tasty, could have been more flavorful, but the BBQ Pork Shoulder Fried Rice stole the show. The BBQ pork shoulder over egg fried rice with onions was simply delicious. The sauce was a perfect blend of sour and spicy, opening up the appetite, and the fried rice itself was seasoned to perfection.
Been here a few times and was always happy with the experience. A Vietnamese friend introduced me to the place and we always come here for our Thai food fix. We especially like their pork fried rice, crispy fish and pad see ew. Every new thing we try gets added to that list plus all the regular offerings like Pad Thai, etc.
It's a small mom and pop shop you wouldn't know was there unless you specifically looked for it. It's clean, albeit can use a fresh coat of paint. But that's not what you would go here for. The service is good and the staff are friendly. I always give them a thumbs up.
We walked for 15 minutes just to try their food and it really satisfied our cravings! Tom yum soup is the bomb! Pad Thai tastes incredible! The serving was fast too. Authentic Thai food 😋 Fried rice is not too oily. Just the right asian fried rice. We will surely come back to this place!

The krawpow is amazing if you like spicy. 10/10
It just in a neighborhood with many homeless people. It’s very stinky outside.

Authentic thai food, great service. Unfortunately in a rough area, but will happily return (or get delivered!)
This food had no flavor, no aroma. The server recommended green bean dish was practically raw. The stuffed chicken wings were stuffed with what. Borderline gross. Three stars because the vegetables looked healthy and the dishes were edible, although we declined to eat them.
Pad thai has a strong ketchup taste

Food? Really good!
Service? Worst server I have ever seen. She was giving the attitude as soon as we went into the restaurant until the very end. I don't even know how she is still there serving guests, I hope the manager or the owner knows how she treats the customers. Due to the policy, the tip (18%) was collected automatically for 5 guests and over. I believe that with this kind of service, not even 5% tip is worth giving.
I am not a Thai food fan but my wife is. So we looked forever for a place that checks the box for both of us. Sai Jai Thai is that place. Their fried rice is amazing, the Sai Krok Isaan is perfection and the pad Thai is probably one of the bests I have had.

Ordered delivery from here tonight. HUGE mistake. Some of the worst tasteless bland stale Thai food I have ever had. Ordered FIVE different dishes and everything HORRIBLE. It’s going in the trash. DO NOT DO IT!
So we are vegetarians and ordered takeout. Overall we learned how and what to order that would make our experience for the next time much better. Here is what we observed and learned
(+) The curry wasn’t sweet, had no sugar. Usually most places cater their curries to local palettes and add sugar, which is not how traditional curry is like in Thailand. I was looking for a place that has the authentic flavors not diluted by adding sugar. This one is that
(+) They are able to customize based on request for vegetarians.
My takeaway is that this place has the potential to be a great takeout option for me personally, if ordered correctly. I am giving it a 4 star for that potential and I will be ordering again and will revisit my review based on that experience.
Learned, will calibrate for next time when we order:
- Their food by default is very spicy. I like very spicy food, but this one was spicier for my palate as well. I ordered spicy (spice level 4 out of 5) and it was extremely spicy. Normally I am able to easily take in the 4 out of 5 from other restaurants. The 4 at other places is probably a 3 here
- For vegetarians they just load huge chunks of deep fried tofu in the curries. That way the proportion of curry to vegetables was haywire. I would order curries and rice without tofu and broccoli next time (those are vegetables that come in huge sizes and takes away from the actual dish you are having).
Awesome authentic thai food in SF.
Been going for ages #41 order always
Regrettably, my visit to Sai Jai, an "authentic" Thai restaurant in the Tenderloin, left much to be desired. Despite having encountered subpar Thai takeout in the past, this experience stood out as particularly disappointing.
It seems that MSG and salt were notably absent from their dishes that day. As a result, the flavors across all the offerings were astonishingly bland. One dish that particularly stood out was the fried chicken fried rice, which oddly resembled a chicken katsu placed atop Chinese fried rice. Unfortunately, it lacked the characteristic darker hue that signifies authentic Thai fried rice. The absence of salt further exacerbated the dish's lack of appeal.
Even the mango sticky rice, a simple Thai dessert delicacy, failed to meet expectations. The mango's lackluster appearance was a letdown. The sticky rice itself was drowned in an excess of condensed milk. This unfortunate trend continued with the roti dessert, which suffered a similar fate under an excessive blanket of condensed milk.
All in all, my experience at Sai Jai was deeply unsatisfying. The absence of essential seasonings and the mishandling of traditional dishes led to a disappointing meal that failed to capture the essence of authentic Thai cuisine.

Went in when it was pretty empty so I was expecting a decently delicious meal but sadly all I got was this under seasoned chicken over rice. Rice was good but the chicken was lacking any type of seasoning it was beyond bland and on top of that the bell pepper were raw and burnt at the same time. Would not recommend! Staff were very condescending too they seemed very annoyed to even take my order.
Really good quality price food!
I always order takeout at Sai Jai Thai and am Loving EVERYTHING they've got on their menu!! Very Satisfying, Delicious, Spicy, and full of Wonderful interesting flavors in every meal🤩💗Very Friendly and understandable workers, really admire this place a bunch for how greatly it's been these past 2 yrs me showing up🥰An Absolute MUST visit here if you're hungry and craving some special Thai. Great Prices. PLUS THEIR THAI ICED TEA, oh my GOODNESS soo frckng Worth it's price and size. Better than other places that give you a small thai iced tea for very expensive price. Pleased to support this business with Gratitude. I APPRECIATE YOU GUYS!!✨💛😘
I really like the pork shoulder, fried chicken bones and papaya salad. I've tried other dishes but those are must order for me. My brother got me hooked on this place back in 2015 and my family and I have been going here since.
Coming from a Thai person: this is the most authentic Thai spot I’ve tried in SF so far! It’s a no-frills, hole in the wall vibe, so don’t expect too much in the way of ambience, but the food is amazing and the servers are really friendly. They have a large variety of Thai food as per usual, but highlights are the grilled pork neck and som tum (pappaya salad), which taste exactly like they do back home. Their crispy pork belly with chinese broccoli is also amazing, the pork belly is perfectly crunchy and so well seasoned. Beef noodle soup was hearty and umami and so comforting!! Really generous servings as well. This is my new go-to spot for Thai food!

Good food great price
This is my favorite Thai restaurant. The food is hot, flavorful and the staff is always friendly.
The best thai good in the bay. I have been this bad on my 20 years
Muy rica comida, hambiente relajado y muy tranquilo
My favorite TL Thai pork shoulder and fried rice.
Love ya, Sai Jai !
Oh my good, Sai Jai Thai has been my all time favorite Thai Crusine since 2000, their Pork Shoulder is one of the best dish, and so does the Stir-fried Morning Glory (On-Choi) is the must order although it’s an off menu and seasonal dish, so you have to request when they take your order, last but not least for dessert, the Mango Sticky-rice Top w/Sweet Coconut Milk and a Thai Ice Tea in a to-go cup are the must haves! Enjoy!
Good food 👍
Good foods
Pretty authetic Kao Soy Noodle! Excellent curry flavor and soft egg noodles with crunchy wonton noodles on top... but it is definitely VERY RICH. They also unexpectedly put chopped green peppers (maybe jalapeños?) inside the curry sauce. It had a bit of a kick! Decently delicious. I would come back to eat this if I'm in the area.
My friends and I were looking for a place to eat before a concert at the Great American Music Hall. Found this place across the street and decided to give it a try. I came on a Friday night around 6 PM and this place was pretty empty. The area is pretty sketchy outside and there's only metered parking.
Very passable Pad See-ew. Best part about it is that it was pretty cheap.
Delicious and reasonably priced fresh food.
Awesome Thai with affordable prices. The service is quick and the food is super tasty. Will come back again!
Excellently smoked and tender pork shoulder and smoky sweet half bbq chicken highlight this great Thai menu.
Pork shoulder. Chilli lemon fish. Been going for 5 years. Quality and flavor has been consistently great.
Was on my list for some time. The place has potential, but it was either an off night or they have chosen to move away from authentic Thai food to get more customers. We ordered everything that was recommended. The only good thing was the fried catfish, though the pieces were small and too deep fried. Other items we had were drunken noodles (no heat), Penang curry (too liquidy), eggplant stir fry (no flavor). The hear scale is mild (almost no spice), medium (which we had is a little spice). We didn't try hot thinking it would be Thai spicy. Thai food tastes wierd and sweet if you cheat on the heat. Also didn't think the ingredients were the best quality. Will.probably skip.
Hands down the best Thai food I’ve ever eaten.
I order from this place on the regular and I'm so lucky to live just a few doors away. Stuns me each time how DELICIOUS their BBQ pork and chicken is-- Super juicy and packed with flavor! You need to try at least once, don't miss out. Oh and if you ask for spicy...you will absolutely get it (to my joy). Careful what you wish for.
Excellent food, fast service. I will be back!
Their pad Thai has eggs and I'm intolerant so I didn't enjoy myself there but their food was delicious so anyone even a little more lucky will love it
Good Thai food and reasonable prices!
Best Thai In The Bay! Green Curry Is Fire
When people first meet me, they ask me what's my ethnicity because I have a last name they have never heard of before! Sounds sorta Chinese? I tell them I'm Thai/Chinese, as in Thailand 🇹🇭 and not Taiwan! Then they usually tell me they love "pad thai"🤣
Sai Jai is my favorite Thai restaurant in the Bay Area! Nothing fancy, simply very delicious food and great price. Their pork shoulder fried rice is Aloi and Amazing!!! I have to warn you though, it's in the Tenderloin! Be brave! Oh yeah, they have Pad Thai!
The pad Thai to go was flavorless. Limited to go menu. Recommend another place.
I love the pork over rice. I van kit think of one dish I didn't enjoy from here.
Thai lift driver recommended as best authentic, we not disappointed, our food was excellent and price good.
Ate at this place back in January. Kept hearing about their Fried Chicken Bone. Which my response was "Whatever, why would you pay for chicken bones?"
Boy was I wrong. It was a lot of work but, we tore through that plate quick. Had to order more. The Pad Thai was very good. So was the Tom Kar. Don't forget to try the Thai Tea its a must. Definitely recommend this place.
Great! I've tried a lot of Thai places in my neighborhood and this is the best. Generous portions and a very fair price. Thanks so much guys! Prepared and ready in 10 minutes. Veggies fresh. Loved it
Even with the shelter in place going ( May 2020) they deliver some of the BEST Thai food in San Francisco. I’ve been going to them for years and they offer such great value and flavorful food. You maybe have heard of the big names in the city, but Sai Jai Thai is the local favorite. Highly recommend their grilled pork shoulder, papaya salad with dried shrimp, and crispy rice salad.
One of the best, real Thai in the city!
Yummy and affordable Thai restaurant. The taste was very authentic. The staff was very nice.
Simply the best Thai food and the price is right. Angle wings, pork shoulder, dank noodles!! You won’t be disappointed!!
Authentic great Thai food with friendly service.
Firstly, “Jasmine rice” was actually 3 Ladies rice. We had the tutu with green. The tofu was sour on the inside (not the sauce) which mean it rotten. Sai jai Thai is has become worse like the Tenderloin!
Pad See Ew, Pad Thai, and Pork Shoulder are all really good at this restaurant. Sai Jai Thai is fairly priced and they are prompt with call-in orders. I never eat there because the employees are unfriendly (reason for 4 instead of 5 stars).
Authentic Thai taste!
Pork shoulder is one of my favorites. Good food.
Big portions and very tasty.
Best Authentic Thai
Roast pork is amazingggggg and that’s sauce omggggg. Super legit/traditional papaya salad. Go eat!
Sencillo
This place a 5 star worthy place I would say in terms of authenticity and service but since it’s located in downtown SF it’s just not as convenient for parking and many homeless individuals around. That’s the only flaw other than that I loved it and definitely recommend this place for authentic Thai food.
So delicious food..
Hole in a wall straight up Thai food and reasonably priced food! Delicious whole fish and coffeeee
We always come specifically for their pork shoulder fried rice and papaya salad with salted crab. 👌🏼Can't find these flavors anywhere else in the bay.
Pork shoulder and fried rice. My go to.
Order off the specials board to get the true Isan dishes.
I haven't been to the Bay Area in a few years and missed the pork shoulder fried rice dish they serve there, so i decided to try it again. Sai Jai Thai did not disappoint. The taste was as I remembered.... delicious!!! Thanks Sai Jai Thai, I shall be back again.
Very delicious and everything is great.
Food is not good
I thought i was in Thailand with the streets suround
อาหารอร่อยดี มี หาเรื่องหลายอย่างรสชาติต่างๆ ใช้ได้ไม่เหมือนอาหารไทยเป๊ะแต่พอได้
Fair price and tasty food. But there is a strange smell in the store.
Ignore the not-so-pleasant street outside, ignore the simple set up and tired decor, just focus on the amazing food and service. Everything that we ordered was delicious and authentic, the Pork Shoulder that all reviews rave about was rave-worthy indeed; don't miss it!
While visiting the area, I found this restaurant within walking distance of my hotel. The staff were really friendly and willing to customize the dinner for me.
After one positive experience, I went back the next evening, and both times the service was really fast. I enjoyed both meals (Panang Curry and Pad See Ew). The price also seemed really good for the San Francisco area.
Restaurant doesn’t look like anything special, but food was delicious!
Good food! Have been eating here yearssss
Uncertain
Modest interior but superb food, great value for money.
Great food
Great food for everyone.
Fantastic pad see ew! Also, reasonably priced.
I would say that it's a good Thai restaurant
I ordered for pickup, luckily because the restaurant smelled like straight up wet dog. I ordered the mixed seafood green curry. It was very runny, watery and flavorless. It was like a flavorless soup. The shrimp was chewy, kind of off putting. Staff was very nice
Good BBQ pork neck
Is a restaurant with delicious food and clean, excellent atmosphere, suitable for families who love Thai food😋😍😍😍
Never will return to this place. Absolutely awful Tom Yum - just spicy water with mushrooms served without rice. We also ordered rice with seafood and it didn’t cost it’s price. So my advice is to not visiting this place. It’s better pay extra 10-20$ and choose another place to eat.
Good thai food. Had the fried rice with pork. Love that sour chilli sauce that comes with it
They will bring you no change and take tips by themselves. I think as a guest I have the right to decide if I'd like to pay the tips and how much. It's very rude to keep the tips directly.
Great food and affordable prices in SF. They don't serve alcohol, but that's fine because you'll want to save room for their amazing pork shoulder.
Great authentic Thai food for reasonable price!!
