Late-night outpost serving classic, quick-serve Thai eats in a basic dining room.
Nice, clean Thai spot. We ordered the duck salad, crab fried rice, and panang curry with pork. The duck salad came out right away, but not enough greens. Decent portion of duck, but would be nice to not run out of cabbage or lettuce. The panang curry was mild in flavor, not the usual panang curry I had in other places. Crab salad was our favorite. Three dishes for two people, with a little bit of leftover. The menu is extensive. I would come back to try other items, like the noodle soup.
I can only speak regarding an Uber eats delayed delivery, late night Thanksgiving 2024.
The Tom-Kha Soup was odd tasting. The soup base itself was bland. Not much lemongrass flavor, but the lime was definitely playing a starring role 😆
There was plenty of mushrooms and chicken.
It was extremely obvious that they just whip up a basic coconut milk base and then add an already cooked protein that's potentially not kept at a safe temperature.
In basic terms, I got a horrible stomach ache and then burning diarrhea last night and this morning. Not fun 🤨
I recently had the pleasure of dining at a fantastic Thai restaurant that exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and impeccable service, which set the tone for an exceptional dining experience.
For my meal, I started with the duck noodles. The dish was a symphony of flavors, with tender, succulent duck pieces nestled in perfectly cooked noodles. The broth was rich and aromatic, making every bite a delight.
Next, I tried the chicken with cashew nuts and rice. This dish was a perfect balance of textures and flavors. The chicken was juicy and well-seasoned, complemented by the crunch of fresh cashew nuts. The accompanying rice was fluffy and cooked to perfection, making it a satisfying and hearty dish.
Finally, I indulged in the green curry with chicken and rice. The curry was a masterpiece, with a creamy, spicy sauce that was both vibrant and comforting. The chicken was tender and absorbed the curry's flavors beautifully, while the rice served as the perfect accompaniment to soak up every bit of the delicious sauce.
In addition to the fantastic food, the restaurant’s service was outstanding. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring that my dining experience was nothing short of excellent. I also appreciated that the restaurant stays open late, making it a great option for a late-night meal.
Overall, I highly recommend this Thai restaurant for its delicious food, excellent service, and convenient hours. It’s a place I’ll definitely be returning to soon!
I really wish there was the ability to give half stars yet again. 3 stars may seem harsh here - we had a pretty solid meal, but felt the flavors were a bit different for some of the Thai classics we love.
We got the som tam (papaya salad), phat gra paow with chicken, and the gauy tiew lord.
The som tam was good, although milder than we were expecting and could've used more peanuts and tomatoes to add textural contrast to the papaya.
The phat gra paow with chicken was also tasty, although not as spicy or basil forward as I would expect traditionally with this dish. We probably should've gone more traditional and gotten ground pork instead of the chicken, but oh well.
The gauy tiew lord was definitely loaded with seafood, but was a bit sweet which was unexpected. Fortunately, since they provide each table with traditional Thai condiments, we doused this with spicy vinegar and garlic chili paste, which mellowed out the sweetness and provided some nice acidity and spice.
Gotta give credit to this place being open so late! It's great to have a late night outpost with solid food in the Richmond.
I have to start saying that the service here is very bad, I ordered a TOM YUM soup mainly because it had mushrooms and when I received it had 0 when I asked the server she said that i was probably an old manu and the soup didn't have mushrooms anymore... they still charged me full price and didn't even apologize for the inconvenience. I do have to say that the yellow curry and rice are delicious the flavor is rich and not overwhelming. The place has a lots of sitting areas and it is clean. I don't know how I feel about the place thanks to the experience but the food was delicious.
Forced to eat here since they were -almost- the only choice on Xmas day. Staff was super busy/overloaded but they took care of us and served on point tasty Thai dishes which we really enjoyed. Some locals seem to be true regulars. All in all, a good experience at a fair price. Thanks.
I have been coming here for years, but this was my first time back after several years. I am happy to report that their duck fried rice is still as delicious as before.
On this recent visit, we also ordered pumpkin chicken curry, and pork rad nar. The curry was nice and full of flavor. The rad nar was just average. There was a little too much sauce for my liking and the noodles were missing the smokiness that comes from a scorching hot wok.
The duck fried rice, however, will keep me coming back.
My family goes here to celebrate birthdays, other occasions and just because. Food is always on point, and service has always been exceptional until 2/8. I'm not sure why this is, but the waitress had zero personality, wasn't happy to be there, didnt smile, didn't have any customer service skills whatsoever, etc. She had our birthday celebrant eating his meal off an appetizer plate while the rest of us had lunch/dinner/larger plates. When I asked her for a bigger plate, she took her time, walked to our table, dropped the plate on our table (literally) as she was already walking back towards the kitchen. Did not hand the plate to us. After that, the male employee assisted us, but he, too, had zero personality. They are totally in the wrong job positions of this restaurant. NEVER have we ever received treatment like this. Like come on....DO BETTER!
This is some really good thai food. Great curries
Nice, clean Thai spot. We ordered the duck salad, crab fried rice, and panang curry with pork. The duck salad came out right away, but not enough greens. If you want a Thai restaurant with friendly and attentive service along with great food, do yourself a favor and skip this restaurant, walk 5 minutes West down Clement street to 7th Ave and eat at Nakorn Thai SF instead. Their menu has better dishes and their waiters patient and friendly. The waiters here at King’s Thai were dismissive and rude. The food was alright, but Nakorn’s chefs, waiters and menu are simply better.

The restaurant employees didn’t care for delivery drivers the food was ready I was waiting more then 10 minutes requesting for pickup but keep refusing Oder not ready but Oder was ready there management 3rd class.
Tom yum soup had no vegetables
Poor customer service
I will not comeback

yellow curry is very good, and the service is excellent!
I have eaten here three times —all in the last week. This will probably be my go to restaurant as long as I love nearby when I'm rushed, stressed, or hungry & impatient.
Rushed into a cramped, wet table. Waited long at the table. Didn't get offered water until we requested it. Waitress spilled water on the table while pouring, never came back to clean it. Several others that were seated after us got their food before us. Our order was forgotten. When the food was finally delivered, it was mediocre, lacking in ingredients. The calamari appetizer was over fried. The restaurant was busy. It's really loud hard to have a conversation. If they don't have the staff to accommodate good service, they should decline the patrons or make them wait outside with an accurate idea of how long they will have to wait. The dining room set up is a fire hazard. Barely any room to walk. The waitresses had to walk all the way around the mass of seated patrons to serve a table. Very dissatisfied. Unless you find this place on a slow afternoon, skip it.

That place needs fumigation!!! While you're eating the rats come from the kitchen to the dining room many many times!!! Lost appetite! Had to leave. Gross gross gross!!! Will never go back!
I used to live in SF and this was always our go to go late spot sad That is not open late anymore but everything is delicious
The food is really authentic Thai food. The duck curry is great.
Always a hit
Very nice restaurant, food was delicious as well.

I got the "stir fried noodles" which I was excited for and normally dont make the effort to go out because of how expensive it is and what I got was goopy soup. I really doubt it was stir fried. It didnt even have flavor and what I expect from stir fried noodles are for the noodles to be firm, not overcooked and goopy. Even adding rice it was extremely unappetizing and a waste of money. My partner seems to like the soup though, I bet its nice when you actually try to order soup
Great food and service.
The customer service was SO POOR!!!! I will never go there again.
The servers don’t wanna offer water until we asked. And the restaurant closing time is 12am but they told us to order in 15min for over 5 people when we arrived at 10pm because they said kitchen gonna close soon. And the have three servers and we are the only one table for that time, and they are just staying behind counter and did nothing. And also, their faces look gloomy and unhappy to have customers at 10pm which is 2hrs away from closing time.
Food was good service SUCKED.
Didn't offer drinks...had to ask.
Ordered fried eggplant ONLY on the side and was charged $2 extra for less food and less work.
My girlfriend asked for water with extra, extra lemon....they brought 1 wedge. Asked again for extra lemon....again only 1 more wedge. Asked a 3rd time for lemon (specifically for 3 more pieces)....we were brought 3 thin slices of lemon (similar to circular tomato slices for a sandwich).
On top of all of this, we ordered Thai fried rice and had to argue slightly that they had brought us Pad Thai (which has no rice).
Then had to ask for the check even after nodding to the waiter as he looked hesitant to approach the table.
I’ve eaten here a few times in person and typically get takeout twice a month. The service is always great and the food is phenomenal. I get the duck pad kee mao and the tofu tod every time and they are consistently delicious. I actually get two orders of the pad kee mao so i can enjoy it for left overs. Love this spot and it’s open late too!
i usually order takeout from here, my go to dishes are chicken pad thai or pad see ew. always yum! not the greatest thai food you’ll ever have but it’ll leave you satisfied :)
the employees and owner pretended to barely speak english so they didnt have to explain why they wouldnt take my valid credit card. "people that swipe dont pay" is what the owner, who tried to hide from me, told me when i realized who he was.
Some of the better Thai food I've had in SF. Spring rolls were super fresh. Pumpkin curry delicious 😋 Just be sure to let them know if you don't want something spicy.
Food was average. Service was better. Food was better when this place was King of Thai. With restaurant prices as high as they are these days, this place has to up their good game.
I'm usually pretty easy and love rating establishments with an open mind. I love giving stars to memorable places.
With that said, I'm disappointed to give this place, NO STARS (but I had to add a one star for analytics purpose). The owner or daughter of owner is rude, the food was not what was ordered, the snobby girl speaks bad about nice customers saying that they have no common sense. I ordered pan fried noodles with gravy and I got a bowl of gravy with no fried noodles, while the condescending girl was trying to school me on how to read. Let's just say it didn't go well, for her. I recommend passing on this establishment as there are better Thai Food Restaurants out there, this isn't one of them. That's really to bad, but I recommend you check out anything else. Be well and stay safe ....
This spot is quick, delicious, and the restaurant staff are friendly and professional. It's open late too!
Great food, friendly staff, quick service!
Great and delicious Thai food
The food here is amazing! Small restaurant with lots of flavor!!
Price has gone up, food is good, staff was friendly.
Ordered soup last night (on an additional visit). Food was good and tasty, ginger tea pot was amazing!
Food is tasty a little on the sweeter side, fast service, we thought the restaurant was close because the door is kinda hard to open my
Leckere Gerichte zu später Stunde. Evtl. schwierige Parkplatzsituation.
Open later than most. Only had take out but everything I’ve ever gotten was great
I was looking for a Thai place in the area, after googling and locating the restaurant I parked six blocks away, difficult to find parking close by. I had the Egg Fried Rice and the chicken green curry, food was good not overly spicy, the curry comes with steam rice so I took the fried Rice home with me. Service was ok and the restrooms were clean.
Food is Delicious, the soup was very good, loved it
Coming back for sure!
Outstanding, a great balanced meal for a reasonable price. Will be back.
Amazing flavors. Everything we had was delicious. While there’s no parking (we walked from my son’s home), this place is a must-try. You can tell it’s a local favorite. It’s loud inside as everyone enjoys themselves and enjoys the experience and setting. Service is very good. I should have taken pictures of everything (sorry) but the spring rolls and curry puffs were great. My Kao gra prow was packed with flavor. My son had the pumpkin curry (tried his and it was delicious), and my wife had the paneng curry equally delicious).
sorry not sorry!
A friend introduced me and the food was some of the best I’ve had in San Francisco. Great service, comfortable atmosphere.
I ordered the Fresh Rolls, Gang Jued Woon-Sen (soup), and Thai Tea to enjoy in the restaurant. The rolls with peanut sauce had a refreshing and wonderful flavor. The soup was served hot containing a light broth with belly filling ingredients. Thai Tea was perfect.
To go- I ordered the Roasted Duck over Rice and Pra-Ram with pork. Both were well packed and delicious.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They were busy preparing "to go" orders and still proving excellent service for those dining in their relaxed and modern location.
Open after 9 pm, off Clement.
We've been going to the King of Thai group of restaurants for decades one of which closed (Sloat), Taraval (food quality took a dive), downtown, North Beach (closed), the original down the block, and this location.
This is by no means our first time here so we know what to expect going in. The petite Thai lady is always gracious and sweet, the younger heavier set girl is just doing the job, not unpleasant, just ok.
Pad Thai (not pictured) is always good.
- Crab fried rice, solid and flavorful.
- Pad Ma Keur was a little soy heavy this time but I love to get it. It is sauteed eggplant with basil, sweet dark soy based sauce with peppers (not really spicy, you can add your own chili sauces), and I like to get it with ground pork as my meat choice.
- Pra Ram Gai (chicken, slightly sweet/savory peanut sauce) has a good flavor, sauce is good but, we dislike the use of Chinese broccoli vs the traditional spinach which is much better. That's the only real but significant knock on that dish if you are accustomed to having it that way.
- Crab Rangoon, my kid's choice is tasty but as usual she eats them all so can't say much except they must be good, she wouldn't wipe them out if they weren't.
Decor isn't anything to behold but we come to eat, not dine. Good later evening dinner savior!
This comfy place nicely located in the very walkable Clement area has been a go-to for us for years. I almost always go for one of their delicious noodle soups. This time I chose Guay Tiew Ruler Raum. The portion is very satisfying, making it pretty easy to handle the price. I loved the comforting broth that I find to be savory but with a slightly sweet finish. The beef was nicely tender and there was good and plenty included along with the perfectly cooked noodles. My wife had Rad Nar with pork, also delicious with a generous portion.
I'd say nothing fancy going on here. Service is cordial and efficient, and this is a pleasant dine-in experience wells located in an area worth hanging out in for a little curiosity shopping or tasty treats. Plenty of take out orders going on as well, so don't overlook that option if it suits your needs.
Delicious food, good service & very clean restaurant 👏👏👏👏
I would give 5 stars if the beef’s quality is better. As you can see from my photo, the beef is not really good in quality. You can get much better quality beef from the Vietnamese noodles cross the street or another Thai food restaurant nearby 8th Ave.
Will probably not come back.
First, sorry I don't have any photos, and I know most viewers read only the reviews if there are photos, but I wasn't thinking of doing a review when we got there to eat, we were just hungry and wanted to take it easy and have a pleasant exchange with someone pleasant. I'll also admit, it was around 1:45pm Sunday April 9 when hosts and waitress have already used up their energy for the lunch hour, I know, I used to work in a restaurant when I was young......but still. Food was decent, at least not unbearable, and I probably am not a Vietnamese food connoisseur, so all restaurants start with a 4 star from me and where that goes, whether up or down depends on whether the food knocked my socks off, but equally and maybe even more importantly is the service. Again, we arrived at around 1:45pm on a Sunday, there were 3 of us. We stood at the front waiting for someone to sit us, there was a guy at the back (and I say back generously since the back was only about 25 feet from the front, a typical Clement St restaurant lot). He looked like the host and also looked like the owner of the restaurant, but he looked preoccupied with socializing with a girl waiting for a takeout order....NOT good. We waited a few minutes, there were only one 7 people group and another single person table eating at the restaurant, but still we waited, that dude at the back didn't bat an eye when we came in. I can see the cooking/washing area through a opening in the back where there were others working, maybe even a waitress, but still we waited. Finally we decided to sit at an open table, maybe the place was a sit "wherever you want" restaurant, no waiting for a host to sit you? don't know. But we sat for another few long minutes while the dude at the back continue to talk to that person who again seems to only be waiting for her take out. I looked anxiously for someone to wait on us a few minutes longer until finally a girl emerged from the back, but she didn't look around to find us sitting and waiting, I had to catch her eye and wave her down while that dude in the back (again looking like the actual host and owner, continued chatting with what seemed to again be some girl waiting for her take out).....again NOT good! Anyhow, the girl I waved down finally came over and gave us our menu with an unpleasant look on her face, and no spoken word. I made some pleasant small talk, but she didn't seem interested. I don't really blame her, I blame mostly the dude in the back who looked like the obvious host and the obvious owner who continued to just talk to the girl waiting for her take out. Add to that the fact I noticed on the way in, there was a sign saying "waitress wanted", LOL, but sad and true! I spoke pleasantly with the waitress every time she came around and eventually she too gave out a smile with her words. ...but herein lays the problem, it doesn't take an Einstein of restaurants to see where this review is going, service is non existent except for the obligatory serving, no more, and a lot less! Again, I blame the owner whom may likely be the dude in the back doing nothing to make his customer(s) want to eat in the restaurant, but finding it more important to do nothing but socialize with someone who was just waiting for her take out.....at least that was what the obvious vibe gave out. The waitress looked more like, as they say, a victim of circumstance! ......and for that, regardless of where the food star rating starts as my default (4) and where it may end depending on my thought on the food, the service (or lack thereof) easily knocked that default star to a TWO (2)!
Not open during business hours
Love their soups! Always great customer service!
Yummy Thai food to go along with good customer service. Tried all the curries and appetizers. Nothing missed.
Nice Thai restaurant that is open late in New China Town off of Clement. The food is authentic. Not the typical Fu Fu Thai Fusion or Thai/Chinese.
I tried their sweet and sour vegetarian soup with tofu and noodles and couldn’t like it more. So flavorful and tasty! My partner got a vegetarian eggplant with tofu and OMG. I wanted to eat from his plate too. We even congratulated the chef
we walked in late with a large party and they still provided great food
My go-to late night food. Yes, I spent 20+ minutes at 11 PM to get a Pad Kee Mao here. The food is so flavorful. It's odd to say this, but the food has vigor, punch.
I've been here twice in the recent months. It's definitely been pretty hard finding a place that's open late night. The first time I was here, I got the Pad Z-Ew with tofu and vegetables. The dis tasted fine, but I did find it a little bit on the sweet side. I'm okay with some sugar, but it was pretty sweet and I'm definitely not used to it.
The second time, I got guay tiew nuer ruam with the flat rice noodles. The beef stew was really delicious and I enjoyed the broth. I would highly recommend this dish on a cold day.
Service is great, our server checked on us a few times to make sure everything was tasting good and that our waters were refilled.
Parking is all metered, with potential of residential parking.
Very rude staffs. Makes a long wait for take out and doesn’t care
Brilliant Tom yum veg soup and green curry
Me encanta
Ordered delivery thru Uber eats, low portion of meat
It was an impromptu dinner here few days ago , had a tasty meal , I only wish they have more on the menu. There aren’t enough choices . Chicken satay is really good along with the peanut sauce which is my favorite. The crispy calamari was a little sweetish , I didn’t like it so much. Ample seating area , good staff and there’s street parking as well .
Late night my favorite place for dinner
Not the best Thai on earth but omg ITS OPEN LATE 💕💕💕
Service is good! Food is solid. Best thing to eat on a late night in the Richmond
Tried the green curry salmon special and it was fantastic!
really good authentic thai
Very good experience in this restaurant! First, it was the only one in the neighbourhood to be open until midnight. The food is excellent and generous, without forgetting the remarkable service and the kindness of the staff (btw very nice for vegetarians)
Excellent food and tea!
Very good Thai Basil Chicken (Pad Krapow Gai). Can be spicy; just let them know if you prefer milder.
Staff is friendly and service is pretty fast.
Fast service , good food
Green curry seafood very bland.
Big pieces
I came here a couple of times, but last visit wasn't great.
the Panang curry was too watery (the green one was good though)
and I asked for garlic green beans and got an entree dish, but i feel it was small and not that great compared to the price charged for it.
Overall, i think the food is very similar to other thai restaurants in SF, but here the atmosphere is a bit nicer
The TINIEST portions I've ever seen for Thai food, and it's not cheap either.
What a delight for the people who miss more places open late, dine in, look out the window and remember clement from the days of the zoo, green apple is still nearby ...pumpkin curry awesome ---kool n the gang on the speakers playing Summer Madness, always great food and service ...toy boat across the street
Lovely neighborhood Thai place. All the dishes I had were great.
Delicious pumpkin curry and pad see ew! Will definitely be going back again!
Good duck with fried rice
Clean, super friendly staff and food came out in almost 10minutes... WOW
Excellent service! And the food is awesome 🥰 First time to enjoy an authentic Thai cuisine.
It's better than I remember 😋 This is the KoT #2 that's open late night. Service was very good 👍 Ginger Fish was good, made with Dory, and a monthly special. (Young Coconut Curry was the other one). We also had the Combination Beef Noodle Soup. I think it had some pork blood, but didn't want to know so didn't ask. My partner thought it was good but I couldn't, after detecting "that" taste.
Definitely on par with many other Thai restaurants I've patronized. I wouldn't say a 10 out of 10, but being open till midnight gives them an extra star in my book! I had the green curry which was delicious and a bit more spicy than other places, but not uncomfortably so. I will return to sample their other offerings. Definitely would recommend to friends!
Food was a bland. No spice at all which was disappointing. I only ordered from here because Osha Thai wouldn't deliver, and on seamless this place had 5 stars. It's not 5 stars. I gave 2 stars because it was Very fast for delivery.
Fantastic food and well run. Would highly suggest the roast duck curry.
Just okay.
Amazing food!!
Late night soup!
Quick service and food. Best of all, the food was like Thai food in Bangkok, the sour was sour, the kaphir lime leaves were fresh, the spicy was spicy, and the sweet wasn't over-bearing. Good portions. Good prices.
Good ambience and very prompt service. Open till late so good place for midnight hunger pangs. Plenty of vegetarian options.
- Definitely recommend the Veg Pad Thai.
- The veg green curry had some weird vegetables but I guess that's how it's supposed to be
- Pad Z-Ew could have been more flavorful but it was nice nonetheless
- Sticky rice in dessert had a weird salty sauce, but the mango on the side combined with ice cream made for a light weight delicious sweet ending!
- Hot sake was a unique experience. Extremely smooth on the tongue, creating a happy warm feeling inside
Overall a pretty good experience.
Needed a quick to-go lunch in the area, got the shrimp pad Thai and it did not disappoint. A generous rainbow of ingredients, plenty of both shrimp and tofu, very dense chewy thin flat noodles. Sauce is on the tangy side. The shrimp were very plump and perfectly cooked. Currently (June 2021) takeout only, no dine in. Food was ready in 10 min. Good value.
worst food ever!!
Good food and good thai ice tea
Very good pumpkin curry
Shame on folks for writing bad reviews about rudeness during Covid. This is one of the most organized and fast and delicious restaurants in the neighborhood. Every few days I think about what I want to order from here. The Kuay Tiew with Look Chin Pla with egg noodle is one of my fave. I also love the BBQ pork + Chinese Sausage Fried Rice and their Pad Kee Mao is always perfectly spicy and delicious. I can usually order two dishes and eat them for two dinners so it makes King’s Thai Cuisine an affordable and regular part of my week. So happy and thankful they are so close to me and they can be as rude to me as they want as long as they can make a living by cooking this delicious food. :)
Very bad service During the Pandemic time very Aggressive and rude form the lady on the window
The fried chicken with fried rice is excellent.
Great beef noodle soup. Plenty of meat and veggies.
With SIP still in effect, called my order in. Lady was nice and straight to the point. Grabbed my order and number said 15 min. They were ready in 10! The order was correct and they were even so nice to my service dog!
Lovely staff.
I had the green curry and egg rolls and both were delish!
I have always been of fan of this place. I am super excited they are open right now. I had yellow curry and Tom Kha delivered. Their Tom Kha is always spot on. Perfectly tangy and never oily.
We had calimari appetizer and yellow curry. Both were great.
The service is OK but could use a little more improvements as far as the Greeting phase I've only had the crab rice platter, The fish cakes for appetizer, And one of the dishes with clear noodles shrimp and spices very good I forget the names though The food is very good I highly recommended This place
poor service, rude waitress, stingy with tips even after given tips, and not great food. not worth ur time.
Good food and fair prices.
Nudle
Definitely one of my go-to spots for Thai food. It seems as though there may a change in the kitchen. The food changed quite a bit but I must say, it's for the better. I always tend to stick with the noodle soups and prices have been steadily increasing. Portions for the noodle soups were a bit small but that seemed to have changed. They actually give you a good amount of protein to go with your noodles now. I remember it used to be only a few pieces here and there. The fried calamari also improved. It used to be coated with thick batter and was hard to stomach. Now it's lightly battered and tasty!
The food was excellent. But ... the head lady behind the counter is just plain rude. No customer service skills at all. We were made to feel like we were lucky to be there. The staff constantly forgot where orders were going. To top it off the “kitchen” forgot to cook our order. They offered us our drinks on the house which was nice. But the previously mentioned head lady later said, only one free drink. When we pressed her on this she said the waitress would have to pay for our drinks. But wasn’t it the kitchen’s fault? Won’t go back.
We have been going here for years!! Open late, friendly staff! Food is dealisious and fast! Never been disappointed
