Basic Thai chain spot open into the wee hours that serves noodles and curries to go or to stay.
I’m glad I took a friend’s recommendation and tried this place out the next time I was in the city! Everything was absolutely delicious! Most restaurants in SF are getting kind of expensive nowadays (I’m assuming due to overhead costs with rent) but their food was very very reasonably priced! The establishment was very clean. The employees were very kind, didn’t talk to me much but gave kind smiles & asked if I needed more water several times which I appreciated. Looking forward to my next stop over in the city so I can come back and try the other dishes I didn’t get this time around. (PS: All of this was great as left overs this morning and is why I decided to write a review)
Good service
Pod Thai wasn't quit what we expected. The very fine noodle were too overcooked (partially because it was too thin!) and without wok favor. It also tasted like added catsups rather the normal source.
The beef noodle soup has good favor and would be better to cut back on the five spice a bit as well as the use of salt. Wide noodle match with the beef soup very well.
Close by the Macy at union square.
The egg rolls were good but not particularly memorable. The crispy, golden exterior was nice, but the stir-fried cabbage filling, with its heavy black pepper flavor, was a bit overpowering. The sweet and sour sauce served alongside was just okay—it added some balance but didn’t elevate the dish significantly.
As for the entrée, I had the BBQ Pork Fried Rice. It came with a bed of white rice topped with slices of pork, Chinese sausages, and a hard-boiled egg, all covered in a red/pink sauce. The sauce was just okay and didn’t add much depth to the dish. The Chinese sausage had a pleasant sweetness, but the pork could have used more seasoning for a fuller flavor. Overall, while it had potential, the dish left me wanting more in terms of flavor and balance.
Food is amazing and got the guay tiew lord! The calamari squid and noodles were my favorite part
This place also opens late, has a huge menu selection, and is good for groups. We came in with a group of 11 people and they put the tables together for us
But the max you can split the bill for a group is with 3 people
Staff were also friendly and came to refill our waters often
Would come again!

Delicious Thai Food in town. The resto was clean, plenty tables to sit and enjoy ur dinner. I really loved the bbq pork fried rice, there were many meat in the meal. The toilet was clean and great Christmas decoration. the waiters were friendly and they refilled the water regularly. Price was affordable.
Open late with vegan options … I’m in! When there’s absolutely no tables available and they make room with a hidden table near their kitchen to accommodate a large group, you know the service is great. They let me veganize the larb with fried tofu and it stole the show. The medium spicy what hot and I loved it! You can tell this is a locals spot. It’s simple, food focused, and aimed to get those late night munchies fed!
Happy Munchies,

King of Thai Noodle House is a fantastic spot in San Francisco for anyone craving a flavorful Thai cuisine. The menu offers a great range of classic dishes, from richly spiced curries to perfectly balanced noodles, that are both hearty and delicious. Their duck over rice and soups are standouts, filled with vibrant flavors that taste homemade yet refined. The portions are generous and reasonably priced, making it a good value for such a high-quality meal. The casual, relaxed atmosphere adds to the experience, ideal for both quick lunches and laid-back dinners. Friendly service rounds out the experience, making it a go-to choice for Thai food lovers in the city.
Food was great and came out quickly and piping hot. The service was excellent!
Ordered for takeaway. Conveniently located nesr union square.
Fast service and great authentic taste!
I’ve been going here for years , consistently good . Delicious the best pad Thai I’ve had .

Amazing noodles bowls and Pad Thai, authentic taste, attentive and speedy service. All what we wanted for the night. Would definitely go back if I'm in the area!
Pork kra pao was made with ground pork, my favorite. Ordered mild for fear of being too hot but next time order medium spicy. It was good nonetheless.
I was there yesterday (jan2)and I purchased my favorite chef special pineapple fried rice. But when I got home and I opened it was old dry rice.I cannot believe they gave me old rice😞completely inappropriate and disgusting $21 down the drain… I cannot believe the Chef had no time to make it fresh.
Everything that looks fresh! it’s not! believe me!!!
The location is fantastic, with easy access to public transportation, making it a convenient spot to stop by while exploring the city. The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and authentic. The service was quick and friendly, which made the experience even better.
I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone craving authentic Thai flavors in the heart of San Francisco. It’s a real gem!

Very bad service.. I wasn’t impressed. They changed a lot after COVID. I won’t be coming back.
Rude, unruly, irate, and every other word to describe the disgusting entitled attitude of these people 0/10 NEVER RECOMMEND

Amazing clean place with delicious food and great customer service.
This was one of the most disappointing takeout experiences I’ve ever had. I ordered the chicken fried rice and the barbecue pork over rice, but what I got was a masterclass in blandness. The barbecue pork—if you could even call it that—was actually duck, and it was just as bad. Overcooked and greasy, it was completely devoid of flavor and seemed to drown in its own oil.
The chicken fried rice was marginally better, but that’s not saying much. The chicken pieces were tough and the breading lacked any seasoning, leaving me wondering if it had been cooked at all. I know I was at a Thai noodle house, but if you can’t make something taste good, you really shouldn’t be serving it.
I spent $52 on this meal, but honestly, they should have been paying me to eat this food. Save your money and go somewhere else!
The food was amazing! We went al 11:30pm and I was shocked that some restaurant was open.
The food is not up to par with the original.
Absolutely delicious food! Minimal wait time and wonderful service!
not good 1 hour wait
1 delivery order
Fast service and fresh, hot food. Got the Crispy Egg noodle, did not disappoint
Don’t miss out on the meat combination soup
Eat here at least twice a week on DoorDash. It’s amazing. Especially the kra pow gao (not sure if I’m spelling it right)

Night at Orpheum Theatre? Chance stop at Union Square? Do not miss the opportunity to eat at King of Thai Noodle House if you are in the vicinity.
I want to emphasize that this is a noodle house, not what first comes to mind when you hear "Thai”. So, try some noodle soup. In fact, I only have had noodle soup at this place. That’s how I know this is an excellent house. I do not know how noodle house work in Thailand but the soup tastes so like noodle soups I had in China, this is like eating back home. You can even choose roasted duck or add roasted duck for your soup! (I wouldn’t dream of having that luxury as a child.) Somewhat uncommon in Thai places but very common in my hometown, they also supply three spicy table sauces that I like. Not that their noodles particularly need adjustment. Noodle choices, on the other hand, are very different from hometown noodles. My favorite is flat rice noodle.
Of course, they also have fried noodles. And fried rice, for that matter.
Tucked at a corner of a crowded commercial street, King of Thai has an unassuming front. I first “discovered” this place by chance several years ago when I visited Golden Gate Theatre and wandered to that corner with an empty stomach. Af t er seen so many noodle choices on the menu, I had to go in. Yes, I was surprised they could add roasted duck in the soup that time too. Two days ago, I was in MOMA and searched for a place to eat. King of Thai Noodle House sounded familiar. Then, fond memories resurfaced. It was only one mile away. This time, I chose beef stew. It tasted like my childhood treats. Good portions, too. I had to force myself to finish because carrying soup leftovers on a bicycle might not be a good idea.
Service was very prompt when I visited, although both my visits were in off hours. (Open at off-hours is an advantage. Isn't it?) The interior is small but very clean. Seating is comfortable and uncrowded. Decors are kept to a minimum. Good food at affordable prices in downtown San Francisco. What more do you want?
We ordered for takeout on the way back to our hotel and found the restaurant lively, welcoming and obviously a spot locals love for a bite. Our food was ready very quickly which was great and the staff was very helpful and kind. While it isn’t my favorite Pad Thai I’ve had (I’m not a huge fan of some of the veggies included) their menu looks to have some great options to try next time.
The duck in my noodle soup was weird and chewy, and didn’t have any taste. The broth was dark and kinda sweet. Overall a disappointing $20.

Great little place to satisfy a late craving!
Maybe they have good Thai soup, but the curry with chicken. The curry itself it’s good. But chicken IS VERY DISGUSTING. Basically they just boiled chicken and put it in the curry. Don’t know how they cooked it, but that’s exactly what I tasted.
At the end I just finished the curry and rice and left all chicken there…..
We ordered chef special on the menu 1. Beef Chili eggplant and 2. Pork sausage sautéed. We were expecting special but what we got were mediocre food lousy food and cooking , don’t know if the chef knows how to cook. The beef thin slices were overcooked and sausages were overcooked as well . Both cooked tough , hard , and rubbery. TOTTALLY NOT RECOMMENDED FOR ANYONE.
Pad thai was not good. I had takeaway. Only noodle, chicken and egg, a little veggies. No nuts or chili.
Seems like a real thai place, everything there reminded me of thailand - the inside, the menu, the free water.
Maybe if you it in, it’s better. Cannot recommend to go

Good Thai food. Slightly lacked the basil flavor in their Thai basil fried rice. Good portion size and great service.
This is the most expensive Thai food I’ve ever ever ever experienced with no flavor
I recently visited King of Thai Noodle House in San Francisco and ordered the Fried Chicken over Fried Rice. The dish was flavorful and satisfying. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, paired with fried rice that was well-seasoned and had a nice balance of flavors.
The portion size was generous, making it great value for the price. The service was quick, and the atmosphere had a casual, cozy vibe—perfect for a quick meal or a relaxed dining experience. If you're craving comfort food with an Asian twist, this is a solid choice.
I’ll definitely be coming back to try more from the menu!
Unfreundliches Personal. Portionen groß, geschmacklich allerdings nichts großartiges
Not the fanciest place but excellent, authentic Thai.
ก๋วยเตี๋ยวอร่อยมากก ติ๊กถูก รสชาติไทยแท้
Delicious food, fast and friendly service
Went for a late night snack as it was nearby our hotel, but food was good and staff was nice. Food was served quick.
The phanaeng Curry was outstanding!!!!
Tourist trap, and I am a local who fell for it. Food is not good: Pad See Ew is cooked with some unidentifiable overly sweet sauce that killed any flavours that should be there; pineapple fried rice, on the other hand, was under seasoned. Coupled with the high prices, it's impossible to want to come back. Pay attention to the bill: a 20% gratuity was added to our party of 5, but at the bottom of the check there are % options for tips to make it appear tips should be added.
Portions were small and chicken was dry/tough. People were nice and fast service though.
This restaurant deserves more than a 4.0 rating it currently has.
I am visiting San Francisco with my wife(Thai) and we went in to try the soup. Guay Tiaw Nuua(beef noodle soup) is very good and tastes just like it does in Bangkok. This is a must try if you are a beef lover. You can add vinegar and dried chilies to adjust the broth to your personal taste.
We also had the Guay Tiaw Bpet(duck noodle soup) which was also delicious. I love it with the egg noodles. Again you can add vinegar which is on the table of the broth is too sweet for your personal taste.
We also have som tum bpoo bplara(Isan papaya salad). We asked for Thai spicy and they delivered. It was very spicy and delicious. It's often difficult to find genuinely spicy Thai food in the US so this was awesome to have.
The staff was very friendly to us and you could also see some other Thai people dining there. The prices, I think, are fair for the large portion sizes that they offer and the location near Union square. The food is prepared very quickly also.
I recommend to order their specialty and venture away from just Pad Thai or fried rice.
They should get more star then 4.0 they're better then that)
King of Thai is one of the best Thai places we have eaten at in our lives. Portions are generous and everything looked amazingly appetizing. The staff was friendly and prompt. The manager even came to our table a few times to check on us. The next time we are in San Francisco, we will be coming here for sure!
Great food and fantastic service 👌
No frills restaurant, with delicious Thai food, great service, amazingly quick food. The panang curry and kao gra pow are top notch! 🤩🔥🤤🍛
The servers were nice, but their food was..sorry but...Terrible! I traveled to San Francisco for business and i was starving. Their menu had pictures of their dishes, and all looked good and typical Thai dishes. I ordered noodles soup with duck. When I tasted the first spoonful of the broth, I couldn't tell what I was eating. Sugary sweet like dessert and strong scent of cinnamon! I gave them another chance but they couldn't make it right. So, I ordered a completely new dish, a seafood salad, and I asked for a bowl of rice to go with it. They charged $5 for a small bowl of rice. The salad didn't have much fresh veges except one green leaf and a lot of onions. Still hungry and Wanting to believe they may do better with stir-fried dishes, I ordered a stir-fried wide rice noodles with beef. The flavor was acceptable, but again so sugary! They must think customers will love them if they pour sugar in everything! And nothing tasted like authentic Thai dishes at all.
This is a racist restaurant.
Food was ok and with a great location downtown so that’s why we got in. However, worst attitude we had experienced ever in SF to customer especially to Asian from a young female waitress, while the other young male chef was great with a smile serving. We totally found out the female waitress served a white female customer with a hospitality and smile attitude but definitely what we had got was truly despise. Sadly, this is definitely the worst lunch we had a worst experience in SF.
When checking out, I expressed my thoughts that I really don’t really appreciate her attitude to us while she was good to white customer in another table, she explained that she didn’t appreciate when we came in the restaurant without her permission for stepping in, asking for menu by just standing out of our seat. It’s really non-sense that she showed her attitude only because we were first in the restaurant and didn’t know their “rule”? She even said that’s the American way. OMG!! Lesson learned!!
Last but not the least, the waitress claimed we should still tip her!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!! This is robbing!!!!!!
Strongly don’t recommend Asian or anyone not local to come if still the poor-attitude female waitress.
The pad thai was very flavorful and filling, and the crab rangoons were delicious. I'm so glad I tried this place!
Gave me horrible food poisoning
Het is eten is heerlijk. Genoten van de gerechten. Echt lekker thais eten. Goede kwaliteit , ook vegetarisch mogelijk. Het interieur is zeer eenvoudig, maar laat je daardoor niet verblinden.
King of Thai Noodle House is an excellent Thai restaurant. I have been going there for about ten years, and I have always enjoyed it.
I remember it used to be a lot busier, but it seems that after the Covid pandemic everything is slower in downtown San Francisco.
The food is delicious and the service great. I always eat there, so I do not know about the take outs. There was a sign that mentions that there is a discount for take outs.
I will keep going back and would highly recommend it.
Restaurant succulent, pas cher, grand portion, rapide et bon rapport qualité prix. Les serveurs sympathique. Je recommande!
Exceeded expectations. Really appreciate that there is great food available late!
Underwhelming my "crispy chicken" feels like it was deep fried earlier than refried to serve. It was dry and chewy. Wouldn't go back
Eaten my share of pad thai... no choice on spice level and was bland.
This place is 10/10. White people come review 4/5
More like King of bland. One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had in getting food from a takeout place. The two dishes I ordered were the chicken fried over rice and the barbecue pork over rice. The barbecue pork over rice was actually supposedly duck over rice, which was disgusting, overcooked, bland fatty, no seasoning no taste and had plenty of oil. The chicken fried over rice was much better, although barely the chicken crisps, but the breading on the chicken was barely flavorful. And I know that you’re saying that I went to a Thai noodle house and picked up rice but if you’re going to make anything on your menu flavorful, then make it flavorful and serve it good. If you can’t cook it, take it off your menu and don’t serve it. The two dishes were $38 combined. I didn’t know how they were going to taste but since I was going to take out I usually drop at least 20%. I gave them a $10 tip. They should’ve been paying me to eat their food.
Tom Yum creamy soup was too creamy for my liking. Basil pork is decent. Milk tea wee bit bland.
In the realm of taste, the "Pad See-Ew" noodles reign supreme, a delectable delight that tantalized my palate. Opting for the vegan-friendly rendition with a hint of medium spice, I embarked on a flavorful journey. The swift arrival of piping hot dishes only added to the allure of the experience. The front server/host, exuding thoughtfulness, paved the way for a truly satisfying culinary adventure. Truly, a feast for the senses, graced by warmth and flavor.
Love this restaurant. Im a flight attendant and I order the #16 every time I’m in town. Great service, reasonable prices. Never had a bad meal there!
珍惜泰米香
Good place for fast eating
I always stop by either with a friend or by myself to get lunch.. food is perfect, love it. Atmosphere is nice 🫰, my only concern is that you can't even relax a bit after your hearty meal . They right away bussed your plate as soon they saw empty it's empty... It's like telling "you pay and go". I think they have to change that way...
Overall I like it 🫰...
음식이 다소 메우며 개인적인 성향이겠지만 별로 맛은 없었으나 직원이 친절하여 좋았다.
Great place, great service, and awesome food.
Had their pineapple fried rice, very impressed!
Perfect Thai food is serving there, I came to SF for a 5 day trip and I went to this restaurant for three times, not only for the nearby location but also for its perfect food quality. Every dish I tried is very delicious and authentic! The only problem I met is that, sometimes the food came up quite slow, and the waiter even forgot to confirm the order for us, so we wait more than half hour for the food. But they are quite friendly and swift after the reminder. Still enjoyable experience.
Good stuff overall, went on a busy day and got great service and food
Lugar simples e com boa comida
Not fancy but a solid Thai restaurant. Stir fry chicken and basil was tasty but needed the spicy condiments for the right amount of heat. Service is quick. Good location right off of Union Square. Definitley worth a try if in the area.
The Pad See Ew was really tasty
The food was fantastic, quality food, big size portions & very authentic. They're open late which is perfect for a very late dinner or a night out with friends. I was surprised how affordable their prices are too. We had Thai Iced Tea (sweet milky cold tea), Chicken Satay Skewers to start, Sliced Duck & Rice, Seafood Flat Rice Noodle stir fry - everything was tasty & teriffic.
They have delicious Thai food! I ordered Green and Yellow curry and Thai iced tea. I enjoyed curries so much and iced tea was good too! They have some small side dishes(?) on the table and I had pickled spicy pepper, it was spicy but so delicious😂 I couldn’t stop eating lol. I loved friendly people there too. I want to go back :)
Completely tasteless drunken noodles. So disappointing especially for a San Francisco restaurant.
Went there on a recommendation from the hotel due to be opened late. Okay spot, there are better Pad Thai in SF
Duck Curry was good.
We were recommended this place by our hotel, and the food was so good we went back the next evening.
Chicken noodle soup! Stay healthy this time of year.
Authentic Thai
From what I remember it was a savory and rich bowl of noodles.
Small but comfortable atmosphere. Staff are friendly, providing quick and attentive service.
The dishes are huge that you might to share two main dishes with three person. We had the papaya salad which was tasty and not spicy if you asked for this. The Pad Thai and Pad See ew was really good. (I’m mean for a Thai restaurant outside of Asia and pretty far away) the shrimp was perfectly cooked and the food was fast served.
Well San Fran definitely needs a clean up in this area but this is not the reason this restaurant won’t get a 5 star rating.
Again Thai food is my absolute favorite and I’ve traveled a lot of places to try it. However this is my least favorite. The dish just wasn’t that good at all. The Thai milk tea also wasn’t that good. Not sure the brand of condensed milk used but when I’m in San Fran again, I definitely won’t be going here.
I should have stuck with my plans on visiting China Town cause those mom and pop restaurants in that area are the ish. lol.
l know this place for years
but only eat here several time
it’s good for late at night and dine in.
but i wouldn’t recommended for take out.
because the food after over 30,40 minutes became cold, soggy .
i order number 16 , stir fried combination seafood with flat noodle about $21
very disappointed , i got a few over cook shrimp, a lot of slide fish cake (?)! dried mushrooms and soggy watery flat noodle.. flooded with oil !
The food is good, but we had a terrible experience.
The server had no idea what we were saying, and ended up yelling at us. The order was very simple, and it is on the menu. We wanted mixed vegetables, and she was insisting on us getting noodles. She kept pointing at the menu and yelling at us saying we don't understand.
I don't know what we said to get her so riled up and yelling at us! Thankfully another person came and took our order.
If you are the owner and if you are reading this review, please understand that you can't run a restaurant with servers that behave this way. It's not acceptable even if your food is great.
We just came off of a long flight and just wanted a simple meal. Instead our whole trip is off to a sour start
Honestly, it wasn’t bad but I wasn’t impressed.
I had the roasted duck noodle soup (thick noodle) along with the crab rice with duck on the side.
The crab rice was the best thing between the 3.
The staff wasn’t that active but it might’ve been the culture on the west side of the country.. personally, my friend and I didn’t get much service.
The crab fried rice was AMAZING… really good flavors Very Delicious
The chicken wings weren’t lacking in flavor either. I really enjoyed the sauce that came with them.
The chicken cashew nut is the best i had in a long time!!
Food is awesome, service is outstanding you can dine in or order take out you will never be disappointed everyone there treats you like family..... the garlic chicken wings yum-o you go there try something new on the menu you will be satisfied yummy 😋
The waitress was courteous and kind. The food was fresh and excellent. I will go there everytime I visit SFO downtown.
food is always good, service has always been excellent as well.
The service is fast and friendly and the food is delicious. I lived in Hawaii for over 50 years and enjoyed the wide variety of excellent Asian eateries. My first 4 years in California left me disappointed in reasonably priced Thai food. This place delivers on price and authentic delicious flavors. So happy I gave it a try.
My fav place to eat around 12-1am
Mouth watering pad see ew and tasty Thai iced tea
It was late, yet customers were sitting and eating. Maybe it was the only place open in the area. I ordered the won ton soup, more than $17. It was dropped off at the table, without bowls. spoons, or napkins. Waited a moment, had to ask for it all. Won't return nor recommend this "King" of noodles. 😔
Absolutely wonderful authentic Thai food. My Pad Kra Pao Gai was perfect. A rich flavor with abundant chicken and veggies. No skimping on the Basel either. Perfectly cooked to the spice level I requested. I highly recommend stopping here when on the mood for a great Thai meal. Great attentive service as well!
אוכל תאילנדי טעים מאוד !! מקום מומלץ
I and my colleague been dinning here quite some time. We loved their foods, it’s superb. Last week i have cousins who are tourists, i brought them there. They loved the foods also. The costumer service was the problem, one of the Lady cashier-i think she’s a regular employee or perhaps the owner😉 she was nicer to the other customers, she went to their table asking if everything’s okay with their orders. It’s only in our table she did not ask. I was insulted, i think she judged us the way we looked and dress that day. I am the only lady of the group. The cashier did not even THANK US after paying including tip. She just looked at us🙄I still have family visitors in the city but i am having second thoughts of going back even if we love their foods.
Spectacular complexity in the broth - sophisticated flavour. Clearly a lot of pride in the product - the food speaks for itself. Service and speed fantastic.
Pad tai was terrible I have ever.
I never go there again.

The downtown location of the King of Thai restaurants. Pretty much the same, decently good food albeit higher prices than the other locations but hey, It's in downtown AND they are open late!
The extended hours is worth an unofficial star in my book. Curries aren't any of the locations strong suits as far as I'm concerned. Good curries need time to simmer with the meat. You can't just throw in different cooked meats and expect a good product.
A tip off for any place is if they offer a variety of meats for different curries, that's a hint that they might just have the base and add meat per the customers order. I don't like that at all.
Other than that this is a solid fast Thai food place. I ordered the basil eggplant with ground pork again because I like it that much. Pad Thai is reasonably good, it won't make you sad and is prepared well we enjoyed the thin sliced pork in particular. Most places cut it too thick, this was probably the best use of pork in Pad Thai we've ever had, I hope they don't change it.
There aren't many late night choices and I'll take this over fast food any day.
….
Good food, clean bathrooms
AMAZING SOO DELICIOUS! and I soo appreciate that they offer a vegetarian menu!
Amazing food and lovely service.
