This place is SO cute. I was worried by the name that it would be SUPER Americanized Thai food but this stuff is GOOD. The red curry was nice and thick and wonderfully flavorful, we did heat level 7 out of ten and I feel like it matched up well! Spicy while also having all of the spice notes. I also got the pad Thai level 7 and requested it be a little saucy and they nailed it! Delicious and authentic tasty tamarind sauce. 10000% will be back!
I know I know, it’s weird but yeah this is the first time I’m having Thai Food. And you know what, I loved. Was on a fitness walk yesterday and literally passed by What De Health Thai and the aromas coming from here were simply phenomenal. I knew I had to try. Happy I came. Ambiance and peaceful, lots of breeze, and the food is perfectly made. We shared the shrimp dumplings, the Tai chicken fried rice and the crispy chicken rolls. The sauces were exquisite. Will be back!
Went here on a whim yesterday in the late afternoon and we were not disappointed! The food was excellent and the menu offered more than your average pad Thai (although I saw they had that too). I got a delicious lightly fried wild red snapper served on a tangy salad of green apple and lime dressing, which was plated beautifully. Will definitely be back!
Fantastic little Thai restaurant in Mission Hills with a great atmosphere. The open-air feel of this place is a huge vibe. With a fun name like “What De Health” (a play on of “hello” in Thai [“สวัสดี”] and “what the hell”) I knew I had to try it.
I loved both the curries my friend and I tried. They were very authentic, appropriately spicy, and full of delicious flavors. They’ve got a big menu and I’d love to go back and check it out again to try out some other dishes!
One of my new favorite Thai spots in San Diego! Thanks, What De Health!
Update: Came back with a couple people today and had another good experience. Everything was really tasty, although for some reason the Tom Kha soup was kind of off tasting. The pad see ew w/ beef and the sweet basil stir fry were both delicious. Good service and a lively atmosphere. This place is still great
I absolutely love this place. The only bad thing about this restaurant is that now I’m disappointed when I go to other Thai places.
Delicious! We got takeout and our order was right on time. We ordered the moo yang pork skewers, panang curry, and pad thai. They have a ton of interesting menu options but we wanted to start with the classics since we've never been here before. Next time, I will ask for the food a little bit spicier but the flavors were great. I also appreciated that they offered steamed vegetables as an alternative to the rice. We will definitely be going back to try a few of the other options, like the eggplant and japanese pumpkin stir fry. Highly recommend!
Incredible. Food was amazing, service was great, the place is so cute and cozy.
Tasty Thai food with great vibe and easy parking! Different veggies used across different Curries which was a plus. Just be conservative when providing spice levels 🌶️
Delicious with vegan options
This place is SO cute. I was worried by the name that it would be SUPER Americanized Thai food but this stuff is GOOD. Great place for delicious food. Vegan options available. Staff is great! Definitely coming back.
This place is amazing! The staff is really friendly and the food comes out quickly. I love how clean the Thai is also, it really is a healthy but hearty meal that leaves you feeling satisfied but not overly full! We have tried multiple things here including the Tom kha soup, Buddha delight, pad se ew, and fresh spring rolls. I’ve liked everything I’ve tried so far a lot and will def be coming back to try more. Their restaurant is cozy and has a nice open to the outdoor seating area that is very comfy. They are also dog friendly which is a huge plus for us.
Such a cute name for a really nice place to have some great Thai food! Had a wonderful time with my friends.
LOVED: My salmon curry was delicious. The portion was perfect for one. It was slightly sweet - but not too sweet, slightly spicy (I asked for mild, but had enough to give it a little flavor. The salmon could have been a little more melt in your mouth. But it was very good. The presentation was pleasing to the eye. The fresh tofu rolls were very good - light and served with a delicious peanut sauce. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I Loved that they labeled the gluten-free dishes clearly.
LIKED: The atmosphere was fresh, crisp, and clean. I like it. It has an indoor/outdoor feel. I was a little cold, otherwise it was perfect.
MEH: The pumpkin ball desert was unimpressive. The coconut sauce was tasty - in a very sweet way - but the "pumpkin" balls didn't really have a flavor.
Amazing Thai Salad. We all had great meals. Great atmosphere. Thanks
Delicious food, nice atmosphere. Liked the spice level choice, we ordered 2/10 and it was just perfect...
We had 4 different dishes and they all tasted very different, so not all-food-tastes-the-same 👍
Everything is good!
We usually get one of their soups, spring rolls, and Pad Thai. But anything new we try is always good as well. Kind service. Prices are fairly reasonable as well.
Dinning in is really pleasant and a nice area if you are walking distance. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to go every week if you can!
Fantastic food & very friendly service. Loved the open air concept & modern decor. Shrimp pad thai was the bomb. Pineapple chicken curry with medium spice was tasty with good mix of meat & veggies, but wish the sauce was a bit richer & not so thin. Eggplant with crispy tofu was very good. Can't wait to return. It's hard to find good Thai food like this in San Diego.

Environment: filled with greenery and very cute. Has a parking lot attached to it but it is usual full. Ample street parking on side streets
Food: amazing all around! We got their Cheesy Stuffed (cream cheese wontons), red curry with fried tofu, drunken noodles with beef, and mango mochi ice cream.
Service: we were seated quickly and they also take reservations via google or phone. We did not have to wait for more than 10-15 mins for our food. Staff are friendly.
I have been here numerous times and I have loved it each time :)

Best Thai spot in all of SD!
Epic healthy and delicious food. Excellent quality and service! Highly recommend!
Most scrumptious Drunken noodles with chicken and Cucumber salad. Highly recommend!
Green curry was a little runny but the amount of spice was perfect. Portion of rice was very small but good enough if you are watching your calories.
The Phad Woon Sen and the Pad Thai have been my favorite dishes off the menu. Service is quick and this place has a nice open atmosphere.
I went to the store on Saturday afternoon and noticed only one lady working there. She was sitting behind the counter, so it was hard for her to see the customers in front. I tried waving a few times, but she might have been too tired to notice. Love the atmosphere here, but the store really needs more staff.
Super rude guy at the front counter would not give me an extra peanut sauce because he said the kitchen was closed and I should have asked when I ordered my food. It wasn't even 9pm. I then asked the lady behind the counter and she said sure hold on one second and happily got it like anyone workingat a restaurant would have. Whoever that guy is should not be working there. What a jerk!
Food had amazing flavor! The server was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was appeasing to the eye which gives you a good vibe while you are eatting. I found my new favorite Thai spot. Previously I would go to a Thai spot in Chula Vista but the owner moved back to Thailand and closed the restaurant. I am definitely coming back and highly recommend it!!
Excellent neighborhood Thai restaurant. Delicious food, affordable, and great decor!
Sorry. it's just not that good any more. Prices went up, but quality of food went down. We were regulars. Tonight was that last night that will be true.
Tried this restaurants based off the reviews and it was a disappointment. Great atmosphere inside, decorated nice. The waitress didn’t have a personality but the service was quick from all the ancillary help. The food was such a let down.
Ordered:
shrimp dumplings which were ok but the shrimp tasted fishy to me
crispy rolls with chicken which were tiny and mushy on the inside, the sauce was the best part
Tom Ka Soup was the worst… it was watery with no flavor, usually I rate a Thai place off this alone… was horrible I wanted to send it back but my husband said no
green curry was ok but again was watery and came out spicy and we were not asked what spice level we wanted
Drunken noodles with beef had little flavor as well, tasted like it was all soy sauce. Beef tasted boiled.
Also, we ordered two beers and the beer pour was 3 inches below the rim on both.
I have a bad after taste from the food.
I won’t be coming back here. There are many choices that are better.

Our church group of 10 to 15 people comes in regularly on Sundays for lunch because of the tasty, healthy food and excellent service. We feel well cared for by the smiling, helpful staff. It is a clean and comfortable environment, with lots of fresh air and cushions in some of the seating. Highly recommended!
Really delicious. Glad I searched on Google for a Thai restaurant while visiting San Diego, y’all’s reviews were accurate.
We ordered drunken noodle, panang curry, pineapple fried rice and Tom yum soup. Food is all good and price is very reasonable.
Walked in on a Saturday day and got the last available table right away. Our server was excellent! Served us right away and the food came out SO QUICKLY.
No exaggeration, this was the best Thai food we’ve ever had (and my wife and I spent months in Thailand last year). It tastes fresh and the flavours are amazing. I strongly recommend!
We split this amount between 4 of us, but I suggest more food and variety. We saved our appetite for desert elsewhere after dinner, but sort of regret not trying more things.
Stumbled on this place and everything was delicious. Service was very friendly. Highly recommended
Ordered drunken noodles w/ chicken and some tofu spring rolls.
Noodle serving was small, plate mostly filled with raw or under-seasoned veggies. Chicken plain. Ordered 4/10 spicy, and flavor profile was quite boring.
Tofu spring roll was 95% spring mix, small amount of tofu. Pedestrian spring roll.
Left hungry.
MID.
Best Thai we've had in San Diego County. Everything was so fresh and hot and delicious. We had four different dishes and each of us are still raving. Please open a location in north county because we can't get down to mission hills every week.
Great food. Great service.
The eggplant dish was the best I've ever had. Portions were small. I got veggies instead of rice and the main dish was just a tiny bit more food than my companion's portion, which had rice on the side.
Food all tasted slightly weird. The salmon had a much more fishy flavor than usual (usually meaning that it's not very fresh) and most of the food had a plastic flavor, even though I was eating at the restaurant itself - not delivery.
Probably it wouldn't usually be a problem but we were also there on a rainy evening in November. They keep one entire wall open so there were periodic gusts of cool air all through dinner. If not for that, the atmosphere would usually be clean and nice.
Auf der Suche nach einem guten, gesundem, nicht zu teurem und glutenfreiem Abendessen bin ich hier gelandet. Es war sehr gut. Vielen lieben Dank dafür.
We had the chicken pineapple fried rice and the yellow curry with tofu. The food was absolutely delicious and very fresh. We want to eat in next time. We just did take out. The restaurant is very cute inside.
The staff was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed for our takeout order. The food was delicious - we ordered the fresh rolls and wished we’d ordered more. The pad Thai and yellow curry were amazing with a wide range of spice levels. Highly recommend this place!
Excellent soft shell crab. Exquisite flavors.
They were super busy on the Friday night I went to go pick my food up, which is a good sign! The red curry with tofu was delicious! I would absolutely order from them again, but probably at a time when it's a little slower.
Incredible and super fresh food that tastes soooo good!! Also, love their kind and quick service. Truly my favorite Thai restaurant ever! We order or eat-in here usually twice a week! Yum!!
After numerous visits here and to surrounding Thai restaurants I have to say that WDH Thai tops them all. The staff are always extremely pleasant and happy to see you and the food always comes out exactly how you want it. Thai iced coffee or iced tea are always a must for non alcoholic beverages. The menu and pricing system is very easy navigate and the portions are very generous. We'll be back many times more and I doubt we'll ever be disappointed.
The staff is so kind and the food is delicious!
Favorite spot
cool spot. great seafood panang. great atmosphere. definitely recommend
The best sauces on fresh seafood or veggies. Garage doors open to sidewalk to open up the dining space. Charming staff.
The Name was a deterrent these past two years, even though I do like Thai food and “healthy eating” is fine, you know? It is just too quirky of a name, sigh. Last minute dinner plans with a friend landed us here since we wanted to get a walk in, as well…We had the red curry chicken dish, the cauliflower cashew chicken dish, the shrimp fresh rolls, the veggie egg rolls (which are super tiny and look more like spring rolls), with white rice. The food was fairly tasty, although underwhelming in seasonings, ~on the other hand, it did taste super “clean”, which is why I do love Thai food. Don’t bother with the shrimp fresh rolls, they were tasteless and skimpy on the shrimp. The Thai iced tea was delicious…The service was finicky and rushed even though the restaurant was half empty at 7:45 on a Friday night! We asked for whatever dessert was available, but never received it, and were presented with the check instead. Low energy, rushed waitstaff usually ruins the meal for me. It did.
At least I did fully enjoy my Perrier! I simply cannot recommend this place for an enjoyable meal, although the food was ok…
Super friendly staff and some of the best fried rice and cheese wontons I’ve had in a while. Highly recommend!
Fresh, authentic Thai deliciousness!
My favorite thai restaurant in SD! I loved EVERYTHING about this place. Had tomyum soup, phad thai, and thai fried rice and all of them were so good. The best part was that the dishes were not salty at all yet tasted so good and healthy like homemade. The place was very open and airy and the service was excellent too!
Nice and cozy place. First time here and was impressed by the friendly service. Ordered Salmon Curry and House Soup; the salmon appeared to be dry, but surprisingly, it was not and tasted fantastic! Portion not very big, just right. Only wished they gave a bit more of the curry sauce.
Great Thai food in a super cool spot! Decorations were bright and well done, food was very tasty!
The food was amazing and beautifully presented. The staff was friendly and inviting. They are also very accommodating to pets. If you haven't tried this place do yourself a favor and come try it out.
Very good except it see was too hot 🔥
One of my favorite restaurants. Food is delicious and service is superb! We are always treated with so much kindness and make us feel special
Pad Thai is spicy!! I’m Mexican so trust me when a 5 is freaking spicy! I now order a 2 in spiciness. Do not play with that. Everything is delicious.
Dumplings are 10/10
Pad Thai 10/10 definitely can share with two people
Sea Food soup with noodles is also delish!
I always order the chicken on sticks with peanut sauce! OMG I’m craving them just by thinking about it.
Interior decor is beautiful, I love the modern and clean aesthetic. The plants really add to that healthy look and feel of the food. I truly love it here.
@artisticabysarah
second time in. flavor / price is great, but my order was wrong. i got the red curry and asked to sun eggplant for green beans, and there was no pumpkin or eggplant at all. just mostly gross bamboo shoots. really sad, hope it was just a miscommunication/ bad scoop of curry.
A little hard to find, not on Washington Street but a block off but definitely worth it! Delicious homemade Thai dishes, very authentic. You choose your preparation and protein and type of rice and the kitchen works its magic. Very complex flavors and high quality ingredients. Wish I could cook like this at home. Especially love their muck duck protein choice, they lightly fry it which gives it a crispiness that sets it apart from other vegetarian choices.
Had the chicken larb and spicy eggplant both were excellent. Great flavor and good portions all reasonably priced.
Staff all very nice.
Having just finished another delicious meal, I just want to share what a satisfying experience we consistently have whenever we come here 1-2 times per month. The food is fresh, flavors perfectly paired, prices reasonable, service excellent, and it has an overall calm happy atmosphere. Couldn't ask for more. Definitely recommend. My favorites dish: Pad Woonsocket Sen (silver noodles); my partners: Salmon Curry. But honestly, everything we've ordered is delicious!
Really good, like legit great. Plus good location and nice atmosphere.
🍜 Food:
Delightful meals perfectly crafted for any palette.
We came for lunch and had the appetizers and shared the salmon curry, which was amazing. Delicious and rich with flavor.
It's amazing how many gluten free options are available on the menu.
The fresh rolls and Mieng Kham we're both highly recommended. So fresh and yummy.
For dessert, we had the Bua Loy. And if you hadn't try this at like once before, it's a must.
👩💼Service:
The staff is attentive and friendly.
🏠 Atmosphere:
Very calm, breezy and relaxing place to be.
💸 Price:
The price is reasonable for it's high quality of the fresh ingredients. The crafted plates are worth your money.
Everything I tried in this place was awesome! (salmon curry, yum woon sen, papaya salad Laos style and moo yang)
good food. great service.
INCREDIBLE THAI FOOD!!
I am obsessed with Thai food. I have been to countless Thai food restaurants not only in Thailand but all over Asia and am very picky with my Thai food.
This restaurant has amazing dishes. Some authentic and some fusion style.
Loved the pad kra pao, green curry, tom yam kung soup, coconut ice cream, sticky rice and the pumpkin desert. All the spices and herbs in the dishes were so fresh and it was nice to get so much veggies from the dishes!
Other points that I loved about this restaurant, staffs are so friendly and kind,
they have a parking space and airy/spacious seatings (went with my newborn in stroller).
Must try if you are in SD!!!!
Delicious!
Incredible dining experience! The food is so fresh, and is a roller coaster of flavors on the palette. Start with the fresh shrimps rolls and papaya salad. It is a must!
The best Thai food in San Diego with the absolute sweetest, most considerate staff. The atmosphere is clean, chic, and comfy. I keep coming back to this place and loving it more and more each time! Delicious vegetarian/vegan options as well. Bonus: they even helped make my birthday extra. Such a gem.
Delicious and reasonably priced.
Fresh, delicious Thai food in an open, airy, laid back environment. The miang kham with toasted coconut, lime, peanuts in kale was light and refreshing with a perfect balance of sweet, sour, bitter, and savory. Highly recommended. The veggie pad Thai was piping hot with an ample assortment of vegetables in a sweet sauce. Service was excellent.
Best, freshest, most flavorful Thai food in San Diego! Love this place, every dish is so good!
Great comfortable vibe with tasty food. Thanks for being here!
Drucken noodles vegan style and green curry vegan were so delicious
Very good food at a reasonable price. I have been ordering food from here since before the pandemic when they were located in Liberty Station.
By far the best Thai food around. Beautiful restaurant, wonderful staff, fantastic menu and incredible dishes. Beyond happy to find this place. I cant wait to return!
Fresh, flavorful, creative. A great neighborhood find. I love the Kaow Mok chicken thighs and the salmon curry - beautiful presentation too!
Got the red curry chicken level 10 spicy amd it was so good, one of the best I have ever had!
My favorite local spot! The fresh springs rolls are my go-to and I love the ginger chicken salad. Also can’t go wrong with the Pad Thai.
Absolutely the new level for Thai food! Impressed and content!
Excellent food in a pleasant space open to the outside.
Very good good. Very friendly waitress.
What a lovely place! Thai is my favorite and this little restaurant takes it to the next level with beautiful atmosphere, kind & attentive service, quality ingredients and gorgeous preparations. I had tofu spring rolls and veggie pad thai and enjoyed every moment of both. If I lived in SD I’d be here at least once or twice a week. Perfection.
Very tasty and very friendly waiters 🙂
Get the salmon curry, you won't regret it 😋
Outstanding food! Have tried several dishes here and all have been fantastic. Owners are very nice and customer service oriented. Give my highest recommendation!!
I regularly order to-go food from here & it is consistently delicious & ready on-time! I crave their Thai food. Feels lighter/healthier than other transitional/standard Thai restaurants.
Really nice fresh Thai food with low carb & healthy options. Wish they did delivery!
Go there now! This place is incredible. The authentic Thai food was perfect. The Tom Kha soup, curries and appetizers were among the best I’ve ever had. Our server was kind and attentive but not hovering… truly gracious. Atmosphere was comfortable and inviting, music was great and not too loud.
I cannot recommend it enough!!!! Do yourself, your tastes buds and your heart a favor and go there ASAP!
Yummy, fresh and low oil. We loved it!
One of my absolute favorite places to get food. The fact that not every review is not 5 stars is beyond me. My wife and I just moved to the area about 3 weeks ago and have already eaten here 6 times. The staff is incredibly friendly and their service is second to none. I have tried a different dish every time I’ve been in and haven’t found one that I don’t love yet. I’ve also stopped by just to grab a Thai iced coffee before work. If you haven’t tried this place yet you’re truly missing out. I HIGHLY recommend the Penang Curry and Sweet Tamarind with Cauliflower.
an awesome experience every time! the food is delicious, the staff is friendly and attentive and very space is very clean with ample seating.
Went here due to the high ratings but was extremely disappointed. The service was great but the quality of the food subpar, This should be rated no higher than 3.5 overall. When I see an empty restaurant, especially on a Friday night where it should be packed, gives a signal of what customers truly think about the place, and thus the high rating it currently has is not appropriate. The restaurant next door had a line with a wait time of 45 minutes+……
Best Thai food in San Diego! We've eaten here twice now. Great food and service. The staff is friendly and helped accommodate for food sensitivities.
I very much like the food. However, for the sake of the restaurant: They need to have more consistent hours and I hate the name.
Totally amazing lunch, excellent service and calm atmosphere.
Delicious 😋
Green curry was awesome, so were my wife’s drunken noodles. Best Thai food around, and beautiful setting
The best food outside of Thailand with great prices.
Great service and fantastic food. Charming place with a modern feel.
This is definitely a new go-to spot for me! I ordered the Kaow Mok salmon, sweet basil pumpkin, and pad see ew to go, and all were so delicious! True to the name of the restaurant, the food tasted healthy and clean, not too oily. The rice that comes with Kaow Mok has an amazing seasoning/aromatic flavor; I would highly recommend this dish!
The women working there were also incredibly sweet! My to-go order took a few extra minutes but I chalked that up to them being a newer establishment and having a full house that night. I’m ecstatic that a delicious Thai spot has entered the neighborhood!
Some of the best Thai in San Diego! The flavor of everything we ordered had depth, and was incredibly delicious. Our meals were super fresh with high quality ingredients and seemed healthier than other Thai restaurants with limited oil. Loved the experience, and can’t wait to come back again. So excited to have a great new Thai restaurant in the neighborhood
My fiance and I had a wonderful meal here. She had the green curry and I had the massuman curry, and both were delicious. The food isn't overly oily, and tastes fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Really enjoyed the meal and the vibe, and it may be a new go to for us!!
All I can say about this place is wow! The food, the vibe, the service: everything is perfect here. Loved the red curry and the tuna salad. The blended outdoor/indoor seating I just love and you really feel like you’re eating at a restaurant in Thailand!
I'm a mission Hills local this place is by far the best Thai in the area!
I hate to leave a mediocre review off of one item that I took to go, but it bugged me enough I had to do it. :/ I had actually ordered food from the nearby Japanese restaurant and was walking to pick it up when I saw this place. Their menu looked tasty so I decided to order something simple since I had food coming from somewhere else. I ordered the Thai Salad ("spring salad greens, boiled egg and crispy tofu, served with peanut dressing") and was told it should take 10 min, so I went around the corner to pick up my other food and come back. I paid as soon as I got back and then waited to the side of the register until it was ready. It did take quite a bit longer than 10 min from when I ordered, plus when the food was actually done, it sat by the register for a bit before the gentleman I paid realized it was mine. :/ The super disappointing part was when I got back to Thorn tap room to eat it, the peanut sauce was warm, but the fried tofu wasn't?? It was 4 thin sad cold (just taken from the refrigerator cold, not cooled down from it taking so long cold) incredibly chewy/rubbery tofu, one egg, 5 cut cherry tomatoes, and salad mix. None of that should have taken the amt of time I waited to put together, especially cuz my "crispy" tofu wasn't. lol I paid $9 plus tip for this. :(
Also, this part might just be me being picky...I love peanut sauce usually! This one was a bit too spicy for me, but I am a giant baby when it comes to spice haha I couldn't enjoy it. Even tried to refrigerate it and give it another shot the next day, still too burny. Oh well.
I came here after seeing the good reviews, but was disappointed with the food. The salmon didn't taste particularly fresh. The spice combination was bland and underwhelming. The amount of vegetables in the dishes was too small. Overall the quality of the ingredients was not great. I did not feel nourished in my body after eating here. This is probably not the Thai place you seek.
I had my nails done around the corner and stopped by for lunch. I had the KAOW KA POW on the servers recommendation - it was delicious. My friend had soup and Fresh Rolls and enjoyed both. I loved the decor/feel of the place - will be back. I highly recommend.
Really really great Thai food.
Amazing food, atmosphere, prices, and service. Better than bahn thai in my opinion. Will definitely be going back.
Third meal in one week. It is that good. What De Health presents all the Thai favorites done fresh and tasty with stand out flavors. I lived in Thailand for 17 years. Trust me. You will like it. I have had the Thai salad, the snapper, and drunken Thai noodles. Attentive smiley staff, open clean interior.
Great location, parking. Light airy interior. All your fave Thai plates, plus more. Good prices, service.
Such a fresh and delicious meal. Y well priced! There were four of us for a late dinner... all of us were very impressed.
I ordered my favorite which is drunken noodles.
James was out host. All the employees were attentive and very gracious. I will for sure go back and highly recommend this darling spot.
A must visit!!! Absolutely delicious meal and it was on par with the food I ate while in Thailand. The staff is super friendly and took great care of us. Prices are good and food was even better! I’d highly recommend this restaurant.
So tasty, fresh and healthy. Plenty of options. Beautiful inside decor. Great service.
