⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ When in San Francisco, don’t miss out on visiting Lao Table, a renowned Thai-Lao restaurant in the city.
Thank you for the warm hospitality! The flavors were absolutely delightful—each dish was rich, authentic, and beautifully presented. The perfect balance of spices and fresh ingredients truly brought out the essence of Thai-Lao cuisine. From the savory curries to the perfectly grilled meats and fresh, zesty salads, every bite was a burst of flavor.
The atmosphere was equally impressive—modern, stylish, and cozy, with a welcoming vibe that made the dining experience even more enjoyable. It’s a perfect spot for both casual dinners and special occasions.
To top it off, their full bar offered an excellent selection of crafted cocktails, fine wines, and refreshing beverages that paired perfectly with the meal. It was not just a dinner, but an unforgettable experience where quality meets great value. Definitely a must-visit! ❤️
This was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time… absolutely top notch from beginning to end! The food was out of this world—fresh and nothing short of delectable. The service was warm and attentive with guidance on how best to enjoy each dish. If you haven’t tried this place, you MUST.
What a great little restaurant, with a menu very different than lots of the national chains. With an extra long happy hour menu with food and drink choices, highly recommend the Laos platter. Everything on the platter was a winner, and they decorated the place with a Halloween 🎃 and all the staff was in costume was a nice touch
Vegan accommodating: nothing on the menu is accidentally vegan, but everything that they can veganize is marked “vegetarian version available”: just make sure to specify that you want the vegan version. They will then be sure to omit any obvious and hidden non-vegan ingredients, such as fish sauce, which is commonly snuck into Southeast Asian dishes. From the happy hour menu (M-Sa 5-7p, all day F), I enjoyed the Tom Yum beer and Tom Yum fries. Then I had the spicy eggplant dish from the wok section of the dinner menu. The food was good, but it was definitely overpriced.
Laotable, a restaurant I was at during its opening back in 2022.
I’m glad to see the footfall and it’s great to see the foods quality hasn’t dropped either.
It’s one of my go to spots as a vegetarian, however I do think the vegetarian options can be highlighted a bit more. But when you find them they do not disappoint.
The crispy rolls and the pad mee lao were the highlights of my experience. The perfect of sweetness and spice.
The tom yum soup was not the best tho and is the only part where I felt there could be an improvement.
But in the end it is a place I’ll visit again and do suggest
This gorgeous and very clean place is a lunchtime gem! The food was amazing – super flavorful, with options for everyone. My vegan friend was happy with their selections too. Service was on point too, with our meals arriving quickly. They even have a full bar for those interested. Just a heads up that gratuity is already included in the check, so factor that in when paying. I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time, especially for lunch, because they get quite busy.
Had an amazing experience at loud table. The service was stopped notch and the waiters and waitresses were really kind and always had a smile on their face coming to the food. It was phenomenal the fried rice, the fried platter. The lamp curry was so good and so fulfilling. I was also in love with the ice tea that they served, tasted amazing, and one of the best ice tea that I had in my entire life. Would love to go here again.

We got the sausage, nam khao crispy rice salad, and larm jungle coconut curry. Spicy and delish (especially after I ate the raw chili pepper that came on the side). If you are spice sensitive, better tell them in advance. The curry came with a little rice, but I’m huge on rice so we ended up ordering an extra. Service quality was functional, and atmosphere is nice enough although maybe more appropriate for a bigger group (I wouldn’t call it cozy or romantic). That’s all fine since we were there for the food, which I’d give 6 stars if I could. It was all tasty and distinctly not-Thai (although we did order very carefully to make sure we got something that would taste novel to us). We’ll come back for sure. Walking distance to the movie theater, so it’s great for a little date.
the lamb chops are insanely good. the drinks are strong. service could be better, but honestly who cares.

Literally no service. There was no water on the table for 10 minutes. Had to walk over to get the waiter’s attention to order. Two out of six oysters were not fresh and very fishy. Jim Julep had nothing to do with a mint julep

The receptionist who greeted us at the entrance was incredibly rude!!! I was looking at the place and he suddenly told me (with an attitude) right infront of my face and infront of my friends that I have to wait for him before I go inside and sit down, I answered him that I was just looking at the place and doesn’t have any plans on sitting down yet coz I know how it goes. Despite the positive experience with the food, the poor attitude from the receptionist left me with a terrible impression and I will not be returning. He was so rude! I got embarassed infront of my friends! This is so disappointing!
The team bent over backwards to accommodate food allergies in the group.
Good meal, Prices high.
Surpassed expectations. Come with a group, share everything. Also, for the reviewer below referring to this as a ‘Thai restaurant’ and anyone else who may be unclear….its literally called “Lao Table.” Laos is a country, next to Thailand. Laos is not Thailand.
Service man discuss with DoorDash man not respond me

Lao Table is one of the best Thai restaurants I’ve ever been to!
The Moo Nam Pla and chicken satay appetizers were both delicious. The pork belly had the edge over the satay. I got the lamb panang curry and I’m still dreaming about it three days later. I was only in San Francisco for a weekend but seriously considered coming back to Lao Table a second time and ordering the panang curry again! I can’t recommend it highly enough.
Fried chicken is delic. Unique Thai seasoning I don’t see at ant other Thai place. Sticky rice is very chewy and tasty
Platos con buen sabor.
Local con encanto.
Really like the foods here. Prices are very good for the food and foods are tasty. But I hope they modify the recipe a bit to use less garlic. Some dishes have just too much garlic in them
The food was good, the service was excellent. It feels a bit too spacious to have an amazing atmosphere. Really enjoyed the visit overall.
Good food and reasonable price. I enjoyed it and want to try another dish. One thing I didn't like was the toilet smelled like somone's BO...

I have been here 10+ times and this time I ordered a pick up - when I got to the restaurant they told me they are hosting a private event. I asked to wait inside next to the pick up table because it’s a chilly and windy day. This guy responded: “is it my fault that it’s windy?” and wouldn’t allow me in. If you want to just serve this event, then shut down pick up for a day because you should not treat any customer in such mean manner. I am not going back given this terrible customer experience.
I wanted the mango sticky rice, but they gave me mango sticky rice and shaved ice.
Food is pretty good. About on par with any standard Thai restaurant. Atmosphere is slightly better than the food and conveniently located downtown for a post work dinner. Service is bad. Same as many Asian restaurants around SF. Inattentive servers with little interest in providing quality service to their patrons.
My colleague and I both got the black cod entrees - one of them was substituted for haddock. Regardless, both were incredible. The taste of the lychee curry was amazing. The mango sticky rice/shaved ice situation was super delicious. Service was friendly. Would 100% come back to try more!
Consistent high quality food and nice staff!
An unusual Laotian restaurant. The food ok but the presentation was great. Very busy even in "down" times.
Great food and amazing presentation!
We were visiting San Francisco and spotted this restaurant. It looked very elegant inside and the menu had good selection. It was pricey and they did not offer lunch special. The portion size was small compared to what we were used to. We enjoyed the dishes and our server was attentive.
Great place, fantastic food, admirable service. But fire the manager. She is rude and obnoxious
Delicious food, good service.
Ate dinner with my wife on a FirstThursday night. Food was very good. However, $9 for 4 Happy Hour chicken wings was "rich". HH beer is Firestone 805. Service is good but rushed. Location is big and serviceable for company events downtown.
This restaurant has beautiful plating, but the food quality isn't good, certainly not to justify the price. The lamb was overcooked and tough. The duck on rice derived its flavor entirely from the sauce. And was also tough.
Service forgot to include some things in the meal, and didn't bring out our entrees even remotely at the same time.
Beautiful food, can't justify the price even a little bit.
Crispy veg rolls and sauce were good. Good drinks too
Bad experience and rude custoner service. Poor restaurant management.
Food to rich in garlic and chicken tasted bad.
Worth the walking to Chinatown. No stars ✨️
Food was absolutely delicious!!
Great service. Ensure you reserve prior if possible. No wonder with great food there is a long wait.
Delicious Laotian food.

service so bad
I was recently on a business trip to San Francisco, so I had the chance to return to the Lao Table, which we had visited a couple of times on our trip there last year.
It’s a small, unassuming exterior which doesn’t do the place justice.
We started with the Tod Tod Platter, which was a selection of appetizers on one plate, for the table. This included really tasty Pork Belly, Calamari, Garlic Chicken Wings, Beef and Tom Yum Fries. It really is a great, varied, and yummy dish for your table to share.
I went with my go-to dish, which is the Spicy Thai Basil Chicken. It’s a jasmine rice-based dish, with diced chicken, bell peppers, chili sauce and a cucumber consommé, topped with a fried egg, which compliments the spiciness of the dish. It’s so nice, I ate this 3 times in one week….and I don’t regret it for a moment.
On my second visit, I finished off my main course with the Khao Tom Mudd desert. This is coconut ice-cream, served in a young coconut alongside some great sticky red bean rice, wrapped in a banana leaf (which keeps the rice nice and warm for eating). The mix of sweet, raw coconut and sticky rice is a treat.
This was all washed down with some hot green tea.
In total, I’ve been here about 6 times over the last couple of years.
The place is kept super clean, the staff are very observant and quick to help you out in any way they can. They’re also very efficient at recycling tables when you’re done, or when you’re waiting to be seated, which shows you how well-drilled they are.
Their prices are good for the area, and they have a really wide selection of meals to choose from.
I can’t recommend this place enough if you’re visiting the center of downtown San Francisco.
Give these guys a visit.
You won’t regret it.
All the dishes were good!
I like how you can customize dish for vegetarians like me. For lunch, I got red curry with Thai iced tea and it was amazing in taste. I asked for medium spice which was perfect for me. The quantity was decent too. Red curry comes with rice and noodles so make sure you don't order sticky rice unless you want more!
Lao Table knows how to kick off the weekend in style! Their Friday all day happy hour is a feast for the senses, featuring fantastic specials that are not to be missed. From the irresistible and budget-friendly oyster platter to the delectable curry that will transport your taste buds to new heights, every dish is a culinary delight. And let's not forget about the tea – it's not just fantastic, it's downright extraordinary. Lao Table is an experience to savor, with a tantalizing array of flavors and delights that will leave you longing for more.
Not sure why the reviews are so low but we loved this spot!
Super tasty Laotian food in sf! khaw kai noodles with chicken were super good, the chicken was so much more tender than other Asian restaurants. Crispy spring rolls were super flavorful and the serving was huge. Chicken pho also surprisingly flavorful and fresh. A bit loud inside but don’t let that stop you from visiting this super cute and tasty spot!
Also super fun drinks and happy hour specials from 5-7!
Came here on a Monday night and didn't have a reservation but we got seated immediately!
Good:
- LOVED the Khaw Kai noodles here! I had one that was like a pad see ew with thick noodles and it was so so good. I liked how big the dish it came in was as well and I felt quite full after.
- The soups here were good as well, I think I had a tom yum soup and it was really salty, but also just flavorful enough to be addicting
- A really nicely dim location so that you can have a good catchup with friends!
Bad:
- The wait time is pretty long since there's a lot of people here
- It can be a bit louder and busier inside
Overall this place was a good find right after doing some hot yoga.
Only 30 minutes between last sitting bd last order at 8:30. This is way too early for dinner and we weren't told ahead of time and felt rushed. That being said, fantastic food.
Overpriced. I’ve had better, even in SF.
One of the best Asian meals I've had in SF!
The way food was presented at this eatery reminded me of Farmhouse Kitchen Thai Cuisine. I tried the S & P crispy pork belly, and that dish, served prettily on blue plates had lots of eye appeal. A perfect mound of rice sat beautifully with chunky cubes of fatty pork. The matcha lava cake was noteworthy, it was nutty, earthy, and sweet. The service was quick and efficient. The eatery is designed tastefully too.
This was a great Friday night stop after doing our holiday things in the Eastern Cut. Will definitely come back
Huge portions and very good
The food here gave me an upset stomach before I left, and then a painful gut for the next 24 hours. I've eaten plenty of other southeast Asian food at other restaurants and never had a problem like this.
Great spicy eggplant main!
Some of the dishes I've had, like the crispy rice salad were really good. Other dishes, like the pad Thai, are really basic.
No AC, took the whole hour to cool down after they turned it on.
Overall great restaurant!
I came here as part of a team dinner, it was a great experience. The staff was very sweet and helpful, and accommodated a last-min request to move the reservation up earlier. The appetizers and main course were really good but what nailed the meal for us were the desserts!!! Just too good. I especially loved the one with coconut icecream and red bean and sticky rice. Must try! There were ample options for vegetarians. Ambiance and vibe was great too. If you are near SF Downtown, highly recommend going here for some good Asian food.
The food was amazing 👏 and the service was very charming. Really love this place.
The waiter was not friendly, she made weird facial expressions after hearing our general request. I don’t recommend this place, especially regarding their service!
The waiter put in 18% in the check by herself, however her attitude sucks!!!
Take my review with a grain of salt since I think the Laos sauces, flavors just didn't suit my palate well. Everything was well made, fresh. The place is clean and the service is great/timely.
I was pretty excited when a friend recommended this place, because I haven’t stumbled upon many Laotian restaurants in the US. Overall, the food was pretty good.
I particularly enjoyed the watermelon and peanut salad. Great combination of sweet and spicy. But some of the other dishes were a little hit or miss - like the lamb curry. The mango sticky rice with mango shaved ice was standout. Id consider returning just for dessert.
We had a really nice time here having lunch with the team. Food is very good, so are the drinks. But service is a bit lacking - good luck getting a smile or an acknowledgment from the hostess when you are trying to talk to them. Very serious lady, on a mission. They also charge a cutting fee if you bring your own cake (99c per person), which was not a surprise (they communicated that to us in advance), but the funny thing is that they won’t actually cut it for you, they will bring out the cake and give you a metal spatula to cut it yourself lol - the cake turned into a bit of a mess.
Loved the spicy red curry. Getting mango rice as a sweet dessert is great. Fun drinks!
Would recommend the garlic pork but the kurobuta pork belly was 90% fat and not fresh. A bit expressive for the quality.
The decor was nice. Staff was nice. Food was ok. If you're new to trying thai/lao food, this is a good place to start. The flavors are adjusted for beginners. The price isn't worth it. I was disappointed in their roast pork did not look like the photo they put on their menu. It was thinly cut. Their peppers are spicy.
In one word, amazing. Loved everything about this place. Yes it is on the bit expensive side but the tasty food and amazing ambience definitely makes it worth the buck.
The only small issue that I can think of is the slow waiter response ( although that can also be forgiven because the food came a few minutes after we gave the order) and probably that was because they were almost working at capacity.
Now to the food that I ordered:
❤️ Vegetarian red curry was super and I just loved the tofu they put in it, I rarely like the tofu but the tofu they used was just the perfect amount of firm and soft.
❤️ Vegan pad mee lao was better than I expected. I generally don't order pad Thai in Thai places because I find it a little too dry for my likeness but there was something special about lao pad mee noodles and they were just perfect for me.
I went with my spouse on July 8. Service was attentive and friendly. We had a glass of chardonnay for $14 which was probably the smallest amount in a glass I have received for a long time. The we had the Panang lamb curry and the Larm curry. One of these was way too spicy. We are used to spicy food but wished they pointed that out. The meat in the other dish was cooked good but the sauce was very oily. You could see the oil covering all the top. Maybe next time we try some of their other dishes.
Gross, Disgusting, ... Vulgar
Had a great spicy thai basil chicken.
Great spot for Laos/Thai food. Crispy pork bellies and basil chicken were both amazing. I had to ask for mild because well... they know how to spice things up. Got me in for a late lunch and was perfect.
Although they are a little pricy. The foods here are amazing. Garlic pork is my favorite dish and highly recommend it.
It was my first time visiting Lao Table with a bunch of work friends and I was amazed by what this place has to offer. Its just a few mins walk from Salesforce tower in a tiny unassuming hole in the wall. But inside, its a colorful world with beautiful lamps and some mouth-watering Laotian food. I was highly impressed by the decor and the staff was helpful too - letting us know that certain dishes had peanuts incase someone had allergies or fish oil incase we had Vegans among us.
Coming to the Food - right from the drinks to the appetizers to the main course, everything was sooo flavorful and colorful. We had Oysters - that were absolutely fresh, Watermelon Salad was huge but yum and Thai basil chicken fried rice was bursting with flavors. Also the garlic chicken Wings were a nice twist. All the drinks we ordered were delicious. I highly recommend Sticky Rice with Mango - it felt like I was back in Southeast Asia, also the mango shaved ice was tasty.
Overall I highly recommend Lao Table and can't wait to go back!!!
Food was excellent. Presented really well etc. The service however was terrible. Our waiter howevered over us uncfortably close and hurried us till we finished, brought us our dessert even before we were halfway through our main course and the bill came right after. She insisted we stop eating and pay the bill and then go back to our meal...!!!@#$#
Loved the food. It's a more light version of thai and medium spicy but full of flavor. MUST TRY COCONUT WATER.
Yummy restaurant in the SoMa area. Their entree portions are fairly big so we shared an appetizer and an entree. The fresh spring rolls and garlic pork rice were both amazing. Nice ambiance inside with lots of tables. Overall, a good experience.
Food, drinks and staff were amazing! Spice level was on point.
Great for your Thai cravings!
Been wanting to try Lao Table for the longest time. Parking is horrible! Because of this, I've only had their food delivered by DD. It's not the same. It's like ordering a salt and pepper crab to be delivered! Does not do the food justice! One of the few places in SF that offers the steak a la " cry"! The meat used for this dish was high quality.
Another standout dish was the seabass clay pot. Wonderful taste and is filled with aroma. Oh, don't forget the matcha Lava cake. Beautiful presentation and simply delicious and brought along by U Dessert Story.
First time coming here to celebrate our daughter's 40th birthday! Great restaurant with a good selection of food entrees and specials. Fantastic presentation of plates to help stir your appetite! If you happen to like spicy fare, you will not be disappointed.
Stumbled upon Lao Table while staying at the Clancy for the Sickick concert. Super clean, very friendly staff, and the food was delicious! Everything was presented in a stunning arrangement (literally just like the menu photos). We had chicken satay and wrapping vegetables crispy rolls as apps, then followed with Spicy Thai basil chicken and Khaw Kai noodles. Side note: Their "medium" spicy had my husband CRYING. Be careful :) Absolutely recommend this place, can't wait to be back!
I took my team out for dinner at Lao Table last week, and had an absolutely horrible experience with our server (named Sukanda). She was racist towards our team members, and very rude in her demeanor. Some team members had dietary restrictions and Sukanda was visibly irritated with them when they tried to explain their restrictions to her. The food was okay. But I’d probably not go there again if the wait staff continues to be this rude.
This
Dined here twice and I have yet to be disappointed. The food's always excellent and full of flavor. I'm looking forward to bring the family here soon.
This place can be pretty busy at times, so don't expect to be able to walk in and eat right away.
I eaten both lunch and dinner, and the portions are really large and easily shareable.
I would ask for recommendations and stay towards the traditional Lao side of the menu. If you want deep fried spring roles probably just go to Chillis.
Bar is a little on a pricey side but the cocktails are good.
I have come to this place on and off for over a decade now (it was called Osha before). But, this time I did not enjoy the food the way I remembered.
They were lacking chicken options also the thai curry lacked flavor and was very sweet.
The cocktails were excellent!
The server was friendly but lacked any understanding of the menu she said she was new so I won't hold it against her but when I asked if the thai curry comes with rice she said it did not and I would have to order separately which was weird because the picture on the menu showed it comes with rice and noodles. We decided that we won't order additional rice and can order later if needed only to be told that there are a lot of people so we should order it now so we don't have to wait. We ordered!
The entre came right after the appetizers and guess what it did come with rice so we ended up with additional for no reason. Buy the time we finished our appetizer the food was already cold.
I would definitely come back, the reason I am writing an elaborate review is because I loved this place but they need to know what's not working so it becomes better!
And please bring back the samosas!
Beautiful restaurant, huge portions and friendly service but not entirely impressed by the food.
Got the pho duck and it was more like a fried noodle with unseasoned duck on top and a side soup which really confused me. I thought the soup was supposed to go into the bowl like normal phos - wish the server gave some more context to the food before serving it.
Prices are also quite expensive for what it is.
Food was great. Just a bit pricy considering the cost of it
I think the food looks fancy but the amount is tiny, especially comparing to its price
Pretty close to what you can taste in Thailand, but ten times more expensive.
Best restaurant ever! I was in San Francisco on business for a few weeks. I went to this restaurant for dinner several times during my stay. I ate a different meal each time. I didn’t know it was possible for a restaurant to have perfect consistency across all dishes when it comes to freshness, presentation, and such potent flavor ( unique to each dish of course ). Despite the normal ( sadly ) trashy upkeep of the CITY of SF, this little treasure not only exists but is THRIVING. If the owners read this review, I hope they seriously consider my suggestion of opening another location in Dallas where I’m from. I’m really going to miss this place. Such great food.
We did family style, and it was amazing. 10/10, check it out if you’re in town.
Amazing and fresh. Quite above average. Fave dish was crispy rolls wrapped in lettuce fresh herbs
