Specialty Thai restaurant in San Diego County, serving pad thai from different parts of Thailand. Classic and vegetarian/vegan options + homemade Thai tea available. Also at San Diego farmer’s markets.
Okay, let's talk about this awesome little Thai place. It's not fancy – you'll find it tucked into a strip mall, and honestly, the trash bins out front isn't winning any awards. But trust me, the food is something special.
This isn't your average Thai takeout joint. They've got dishes from four different regions of Thailand, which is pretty cool. I went for something from Northern Thailand, and even though I asked for "just a touch" of spice, it was still pretty fiery! But in a good way, you know? The flavors were amazing – sweet, sour, salty, all balanced perfectly.
And let's talk about the chicken. It was so tender and juicy, not dry like you get at some places. The pad thai was a step above the usual, with an incredible peanut sauce that I could have eaten with a spoon.
The staff were super friendly, too. The cashier was really helpful in explaining the menu and making recommendations.
Just a heads up: the place itself is nothing fancy. You'll probably want to get your food to go. But hey, who cares when the food is this good?
So, if you're looking for authentic Thai food with amazing flavors, this is the place. Don't be put off by the location – this place is a hidden gem!
Ordered to go, found a long strand of black hair & called to ask for a refund. Two orders were placed, and I only requested for one to be fair (the other seemed fine). My hair is very short and red. Workers said that they were unable to do so, boss was out of town... not well receptive on helping with follow-up on the issue either.
Overheard them complaining about my request in the background as well. Not professional mannerism for a mistake that is on their part...
update: hair found in other dish, as well as an eggshell remnant 😐
Great, authentic pad Thai! We ordered the lobster pad Thai northern style and the seafood (shrimp, scallops, mussels, calamari) pad Thai southern style. Everything tasted great, with lots of love. We also got a Thai tea which was very tasty. Extremely nice and sweet staff and the food came out quickly. Dog friendly patio as well. Definitely recommend!
The food was ready quite fast. We ordered a variety type of meat options: lobster padthai, chicken, and seafood. All were great!
Padthai is street food. Hence, do note they need to eat hot, and it shall taste good and fresh!
The shop is neat, and there are adequate seatings and tables if you enjoy the "real deal" street look type of dining.
Price is reasonable compared to other similar padthai prices to serving amount of noodles!
Definitely will be our spot for a quick tasty thai noodle!
Went there today. Was a little nervous about some of the reviews saying not much food and that the attitude of the employees was bad. The employees were all very nice and helpful and answered all tge questions I had very nicely. I ordered the Northern Veggie pad thai medium heat. As somebody else had noted a medium heat is closer to a 7 at other places. The girl at the counter had offered to make it low heat and give me more pepper to add myself. However, I chose medium. It's a good portion size, and the food is good. Being gluten-free is an added bonus. Veggies were u der tge noodles as another reviewer had stated that their chicken was under the noodles. It was bot a problem to stir it myself to mix everything up. It may have even helped to cool it down since it was served very warm. I'm looking forward to going there next week since I'm working in the area to try all the other variations of Pad Thai. I paid $15 and that price is very average for the amount of food from other places.
Casual place that serves pad thai in four different ways, each for a different region of Thailand. I love places that have limited menus like this place, because that indicates that they have perfected their craft. Very flavourful and portioning that’s worth the price ($15). Would recommend to pad thai lovers.
Update: we total visited three times so far, taste is consistently good but the portion is very inconsistent. One time the portion is so small and only had very little portion of protein both my partner and I are still hungry after we finished our own order, while the other two times have a generous amount of noodles and more protein, we both have leftovers for the next day.
—
We ordered chicken Pad Thai in both southern and northern style, we personally love southern style more.
Food is delicious, but the price for it $15 is a bit expensive considering the amount of meat, no other sides, environment and cost additional $2 to complete all ingredients.
Great simple Pad Thai
Great little place, amazing food, such a nice people who works here if I could I would give 10 stars.

This place was suggested to me and within 30min I was on my way to go get some! I got the northern chicken pad Thai in mild 👌🏻 I didn't eat it right away because it is far from where I live but it was still delicious! None survived for a picture haha
Really good food and service. Pad thai was very delicious and authentic.
Food is great but I was talked down to like I was a kid and my cash was slammed down in front of me. I never leave bad reviews because I’m also in customer service however I felt very uncomfortable and disrespected.
Horrible.
Worker had a nasty attitude, the food took forever, and it was the most bland Pad Thai I’ve ever had.
Very good vegan pad thai. I ordered the traditional one with added peanuts and medium. My medium was very spicy

Great value from this tiny Thai street food? Style pad Thai joint. 3 main type of pad Thai style to choose from and several protein options. I got northern style but like will go back to try other styles.
Excellent Thai food. I wish they had more room for dining, but it is what it is. Would definitely return next time I want some legit Thai food.
I didn't like the texture of the noodles, they were slimy. Good flavor, no indoor seating, water for purchase only.
While the flavor profile is good, I’ve ordered here twice and the noodles have been terribly dry. I’ve. Been given long wait times for pick up, and it feels like it was sitting there for a while in the to go box. Thanks, but won’t be back.
The best pad thai ever! I absolutely love this place! I've been going here for over 2 years, it seriously is such a gem. I'm a celiac as well, so the fact that most of the menu is gluten free naturally is a huge plus. Thank you guys for being awesome!
Chef was amazing and kind. the food was amazing. halal chicken was good.
Man just like other negative reviews on here. I absolutely love this place when they are on their game! Quality is good, flavor is good, honestly best pad Thai I have had outside of Thailand! The service and attention to details is getting as here. Please take this as a healthy critique and fix the issues because this location has a bunch of irresponsible people working here consistently. I just got a northern pad Thai earlier with a coconut cream Thai tea but they said the tea had spoiled. I can respect that fully that they didn’t serve me something that would make me sick and thank them for that. Maybe they should make another batch so they can accommodate customers and not lose profit? So I call before they reopen for the day and they said they have Thai tea but then I get there and the kid working the register didn’t know about it and just kinda laughed it off and said “oh sorry I didn’t know about it”. That lack of customer service and disrespect at the register just lost a long time happy customer until things get better! If the owner reads this, please hire better staff rather than a bunch of kids who don’t care about your business.
We love to walk to this little gem of a place! The food is amazing and enough for me to have leftovers for lunch the next day!! The patio seating could be more aesthetically pleasing, so it's better as a pick-up place, but still highly recommend this restaurant!
This is going to be honest and may be the strangest 5 star review.
I'll start off by saying this is my favorite place to get pad thai. Hands down. You pick your protein, the flavor (different regions of Thailand), spice level, and if you'd like the complete ingredients.
My go to order is the Southern Shrimp Pad Thai, medium spicy, add shrimp oil, extra egg, and no bean sprouts.
Unfortunately, the other reviews are correct and for some reason, they can be inconsistent. Your pad thai can either be average, or overcooked noodles, or under sauced/bland, all the way to the best damn pad thai you may find. Ever.
That said, because the first few times I've been here I've been lucky enough (or cursed) to have been served the best pad thai I ever had, I never gave up and I kept coming back. I've had many successes, but also a few disappointments.
They've been a bit more consistent lately, and I personally think it may be related to less turnover and more consistent staff. I've also never had an issue with portions. I'm always full finishing my order.
To also address the other reviews, the service is fine most of the time. This is like a street food stall vibe and is far from a fancy spot, so I'm not expecting fine dining level of service. But unfortunately, there used to be a really rude shorter white girl that worked here - annoyingly rude, but I think she's gone now. Or I've just been fortunate enough to not be helped by her the past several visits. This should say a lot about how good their pad thai can be. I'd still keep coming back even if she was the only worker there turning out that peak pad thai.
Overall, if you're willing to take the chance, come give them a shot. Can be the best thing to happen to you.
Very little seating but the pad tai was really good
Went there today. Was a little nervous about some of the reviews saying not much food and that the attitude of the employees was bad. Pad Thai is the best!! We had a misunderstanding when I ordered over the phone, however, they quickly corrected it, gave me no problem and now I eat here once a week!
Casual place that serves pad thai in four different ways, each for a different region of Thailand. I love places that have limited menus like this place, because that indicates that they have perfected their craft. Very flavourful and portioning that’s worth the price ($15). Being that I have lived in Thailand for over 6 months of my life, I can say that Pad Thai Stand has authentic Pad Thai and Thai food. The value of this shop is very high, as then prices are low and the quality is high being authentic Thai cuisine. I have gone back numerous times as they are close to my house, and the sauces used here are better than the other spots I have gone to 10/10!
Food is good but way too expensive and portions aren't that great
Photos looked nice, but in reality it’s like a food truck in the old mall, pad thai was probably the worst we had in SD, tasteless with a few tiny pieces of chicken and the worst part it looked nothing like the picture, no Masaman curry or even nuts, it was cooked by a guy who looked like teenager with AirPods in the back of the place, does not look sanitary.
Ordered a Northern Pad Thai and a Southern Pad Thai, both with chicken, for take out on Sunday evening.
The noodles came in a big block (they were all stuck together) and they weren't very flavorful. (The Northern one was better than the Southern one.) The chicken was all at the bottom, not mixed in with the noodles. Maybe it wasn't very flavorful because we got mild spicy? (Mild was not very spicy at all.)
Spent ~$30. We will probably not try this restaurant again. It was worth a try - I don't know if we got a bad batch or caught the restaurant on a bad day, but it was just a disappointing experience.
Don’t do it.
If you're looking for overpriced, toddler portions with a side of atrocious customer service, then this is the place for you.
$15 isn't a lot, but it is for a $5 size portion. But that was the least of my problems.
I was waiting for 30 minutes after ordering. It turns out they just forgot to call my name, which is fine because mistakes happen. But they were very indifferent to the fact and practically threw the bag at me. Not even a sorry.
Irredeemable.
I'm saddened to change my review from all five stars, but my most recent visit in May 2024, left me very disappointed. While the food remains some of the best pad thai in San Diego, the service has really gone downhill and unprofessional (gal at cashier always seems to have an unfriendly attitude as though she despises being there) and specifically in my most recent visit I found it absolutely unacceptable... It took 45 minutes for me to receive my order because they forgot about me, even though I was the only one waiting. No apologies, just "oh we made your order a long time ago..." Also the atmosphere was very uncomfortable with hardly anywhere to sit while waiting as there were boxes and catering equipment spread all over the place. I miss when Nat used to be there regularly as he is so friendly and hospitable.
Pad Thai was fantastic but the food took over 30 minutes to arrive after I ordered 2 pad Thais.
This place has the best Pad Thai I’ve ever had. It was so good that the first time we had it we went back the next day. Their service is amazing too. We chatted with who we assume is the owner a bit and he was super cool and friendly. Highly recommend.
Yummy Pad Thai. I didn’t know about the regional differences until I found this place. We got northern and southern and both were tasty. I wish there had been more meat for the price. The packaging was a little sloppy, with food residue smeared on the outside of the box. They put it in a bag, so thankfully I didn’t have to worry about it getting the car dirty, but we did need to serve it on a plate when we got home.
They did a good job with atmosphere despite being a walk up window at the edge of a shopping center right next to the street. There were string lights and a few tables where you could sit and eat there.
Amazing authentic pad thai! Best in San Diego. Highly recommend for anyone looking for the real deal. My husband won’t order pad thai anywhere else! Nat, the owner, is also super friendly!
Got the northern pad thai with veggies + extras as well as a coconut cream thai tea and everything tasted amazing. Everyone in my group loved their orders as well. The owner is great, the experience was great, food came out quick and I had enough for leftovers. Yippie!!!
Great food! I tried the northern Pad Thai and it did not miss, the noodles where cooked perfectly. I'll be back to try the other specialties.
Casual and tasty spot to try out several regional variations of Pad Thai. Most people have had the Bangkok version, with eggs, peanuts, etc. But this place features unique ingredients such as curry paste, pork rinds, and more. I recommend the Northern or Old-Style versions for something new and delicious.
Portions are more than fair and the service has been friendly each time I've visited. Try and take out order from here some time and I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
It literally hurts me to write this post because The Pad Thai Stand has my heart, but recently the quality of food has gone down.
This is where I like to treat myself during the week and last night I called in for a pick up order for the Northern with Chicken as my protein, and spice level medium (I forgot to ask for egg). The service was great when I picked up the food, however when I got home and started eating, I was disappointed.
The noodles were very oily and clumped together, there were no peanuts, and the chicken was oddly very chewy and a little tough. It was a different texture than I have ever had before, almost like when calamari is overcooked. Lastly, it tasted like they forgot to add the spices, peanut sauce and massaman curry. But all the bean sprouts and green onions were there.
Because I frequent here so often I realized it wasn't just an off night from the occurrences prior. Maybe a step was missed, which is understandable, but I would love for that to be checked and added or redone before I get home and notice because I CRAVE this place and it is too much of a hassle to go back and forth.
I really hope this helps because I haven't found pad thai yet that tastes like this when it is at its best.
Consistently delicious pad thai. They do one thing and do it EXCELLENTLY. Really friendly and fun staff as well. Keep it up!!
This place is absolute fire. Southern style is a treat. Eating it fresh is the best, but I’ve gotten it at the farmer’s market to take home and it’s pretty good as well.
We ordered southern pad thai with extra chicken and northern pad thai with fried garlic shrimp and shrimp. It was definitely flavorful!
But as most reviewers might say, it was dry, sauce was minimal and the noodles were clumpy, even though we just picked it up and ate in the parking lot!
I think if the sauce was generous and noodles were slippery it would be bomb of a pad thai.
Great food!!! Love the Pad Thai!
Great service!!!!

We ordered chicken Pad Thai in both southern and northern style, we personally love southern style more.
Food is delicious, but the price for it $15 is a bit expensive considering the amount of meat, no other sides, environment and cost additional $2 to complete all ingredients.
Open late and the person taking orders was very nice. He took the time to explain how to order and what he recommends.
Small little restaurant with a limited menu. They have one large table and a couple of small tables. Counter order and takeout only. Food orders are made to order and can take awhile.
This place is a must if you’re looking for halal pad Thai for a affordable price. (Note that the chicken is halal) The location is a hole in the wall and is a bit harder to find but you won’t regret it. I love all of their flavors but am especially fond of the northern style.
Top taste, freshly made to order.
We randomly stopped by and figured that, if they only do one thing, it must be pretty good. We were not disappointed! We met Nat, the owner, and he was so helpful in breaking down the different options and ordered us his recommendations. We've both had plenty of Thai food, and this was the best pad thai we've had. We definitely recommend stopping by here for some quick and yummy food, and get the thai tea, too! One note though: we can usually handle a little bit of spice (we can enjoy a bag of hot Cheetos with a cup of water as a reference) but the mild was too spicy for us. If you have similar tolerance, skip the chili pepper!
So sorry to have to post such a negative review. We've been wanting to try this place out for several months. Tonight I was hungry for Pad Thai. I called for pick up of 2 shrimp Southern Region pad Thai dishes. I was asked if I wanted all the fixings that go with it (radishes, bean sprouts etc.) I said absolutely and was promised it would also come" with a lot of Love" I ordered at 5:00 and was told 15 min. We got there at 5:20 and it was just coming out of the kitchen. Came home so excited only to find two boxes of clumped pad thai noodles. NO SAUCE, DRY DRY and shrimp? Well so very tiny I finally found 2!! I called back to let them know how disappointed I was and that instead of "love" I wished I had some sauce with my food🥺 I got the standard.
" Sorry bout that."
There are so many other excellent Thai food places here in SD, I would not go back or ever recommend this place.
Food was really good the northern pad Thai was delicious. Just be aware mild spice is spicy overran really good
We love Pad Thai. We went to San Diego for vacation and were surprised our hotel was near so many Japanese super markets and The Pad Thai Stand. Our daughter can be picky with any outside restaurant food. We ordered the northern style sauce with no spice and shrimp and we devoured it. Our daughter loved the shrimp and noodles. The picky eater came out though. She didn't like the green onions, sprouts, and strangely peanuts. We are hopeful she will grow to like the same tastes we do when she gets older.
From the first bite, you know you bought something special. Bookmarked into our favorite restaurants in San Diego list.
I stopped by to see if i can still catch dinner and they were so awesome they cooked for me even the last minute. I was suggested to try food because its made from scratch.
The pad Thai itself was not bad, not the best but not bad. But the girl at the counter was rude. She walked out the other few people’s orders and called their names out but said my name real quietly and left my order on the inside counter (why) and stood there watching me barely be able to reach it because unfortunately I’m a little vertically challenged. It’s kinda funny honestly, but also just rude and it seems like there are several complaints about this person
We had to gone to their food stalls at farmer’s markets around San Diego for years before COVID, and we were so glad to find out that they had a physical store front now!
The food is still just as good as we remember it from the farmer’s market! You get a healthy portion of Pad Thai for $13 ($14 for shrimp as the protein) and $2 for the complete version. It was more than enough to feed two people! They also have a great Thai Iced Tea for $5 - highly recommend it!
They had some seating under cover in front of their store front that included some tables with plastic chairs. Not the greatest, but the food is the star - the noodles are saucy and the protein is well seasoned and the mild spice was perfect for us!
Amazing customer service, they were very friendly and even made us a new Pad Thai when they was a mistake in our order. Great vibe and they made sure to take care of us.
Please, please go here for all your Pad Thai needs!
Tried Northern and Southern Pad Thai for the first time, chicken and vegan. Everyone loved their meal. Just the right amount of spice (we ordered mild and medium). Mild was great for me, medium perfect for my hot sauce enjoying friends. No spice is also an option. I'll be back.
By far, the WORST Pad Thai I have ever had! I travel all over SD and always try Thai places in the area. I figured since this Thai restaurant specialized in Pad Thai itwas going to be good...how wrong I was. Noodles were soggy and not much flavor and overly spicy despite the fact that I ordered mild, 2. Definitely not going back.
Amazing Pad Thai friendly and helpful staff will customize any order for you.
Update: portions have been significantly reduced. I used to get double the amount of food.
Great shop. Only 4 items on menu. Can't go wrong
Came here looking for the Thai Burger place and found out they relocated. I was still hungry so I gave it a crack and it is so good. I got the toasted coconut chicken and started inhaling so fast my lungs wanted a bite. Careful, it does have small pieces.
Although, I felt like the spice chart they have is white people spice level. Not disappointed either way as it stands on its own so well.
Quick review: food was pretty good considering the very, very rude person who took our order.
Longer review: We got two pad Thai to split between two people: the northern and southern style. The non-massaman flavored one (I think the southern style) was a little too sweet for me. I liked the multitude of veggies and the flavor was overall hitting the mark with tang, sweet, savory, etc etc (all the things about pad Thai that make it tasty) but nothing mind blowing. It was my first time coming there and I thoroughly enjoy cooking Thai food, so I was looking forward after hearing my friends rave about the place. The person who took our order makes it feels like you’re a burden for wanting to order and talked down to us. When I said I wanted “hot” they gave me a lecture about their spice and this and that. I said I can handle spice, and they further dismissed my capacity to handle heat in a way I’ve never experienced before lol. “I’ve been to Thailand before and know what I’m getting into too” I said, but she still talked to me like I was stupid. I never rant like this on my reviews but it took me aback how mean she was. I worked in restaurants, casual and fine dining, for a total of 5 years while I was in college and understand places get busy and stressful but she was being condescending for no reason. They weren’t hectic, there was only one other group of people here when we showed up.
I checked the other reviews and saw some others complaining too; I think this is a pretty easy problem to fix, maybe they need a smoke break or something to chill out.
A hidden gem serving delicious flavors of pad Thai. Serving sizes are great too! Can't wait to go back and try again. Highly recommend!
Hidden gem for some great Pad Thai. Simple menu and simple everything. I really like it here.
I had a pad Thai craving today so I visited The Pad Thai Stand and I left satiated.
The portions are generous, I love the large portion of mung bean sprouts accompanying the noodles.
My partner and I both ordered our pad Thai hot, and it was quite spicy, we do love spicy and it was tolerable but beware of those that can’t handle the spicy lip sensation.
I had the veggie and my partner had chicken, I tried the chicken and found it to be cooked just right.
The Thai tea was delicious, the tea was brewed strongly and the sweet level was perfect, It was not overly sweet if anything somewhat light on the sweet which is my preference.
Girl who took our order seemed annoyed working there.
Fantastic experience
Best pad Thai I've had! Vegan choices, too.
Incredibly fresh, flavorful Pad Thai! The seasonings, noodles, and shrimp were all of the utmost quality. Highly recommend the Pad Thai Stand to any and everyone.
Great food at a great price! Make sure to get the fried garlic on top!
Hands down the best pad Thai I’ve had outside of Thailand! Was met by the owner upon arrival who took the time to explain the ordering process and all the different styles/ variations of pad Thai. Very reasonably priced for what you get. Will be coming back!
Probably some of the best pad thai I have ever had, and definitely some of the most authentic pad thai you'll find in San Diego. Be warned- it is ONLY pad thai, but the variety was surprising, unique, & insanely delicious.
mmmm very yummy food and nice people
Fantastic food, great prices, super friendly owner
Amazing pad Thai! Great owner!
It is a very small restaurant but has the best Thai food in the SD area.
The owner is super friendly.
They've got really good food and for being a small shop, they have great options. I tried all their styles and they were all great. But when I tried the Southern style, I've been hooked on it ever since. Plus their hours are perfect, they're open for lunch then they close down and open again at 4pm. They're usually open till 11pm or 12am. So they're basically open for most of the day. I've recommended this place to others and they love it now.
The pad thai here is so good! We got the northern and southern pad thai and couldn't decide which we liked better. Medium spice was accurate and the perfect amount of spice. The thai tea with almond milk was also delicious. Great customer service!
This was the best pad Thai my husband and I have ever had (and we’ve had a lot)! We got the southern style pad Thai with the coconut sauce at their farmer’s market stand. Incredibly delicious!
So happy they have vegan options!
Went here after a nice date and had the best pad thai ive had in my life, its a delicious authentic stand that serves the best pad thai around. Its one of my favorite spots
The staff here go above and beyond! And the Pad Thai is incredible!!!
Excellent food Excellent service. Best Pad Thai hands down! Try the Southern Pad Thai
The best pad thai I've ever had, short wait, great price and friendly people. Can't ask for anything more than that.
Delicious pad Thai spot down the street walking distance makes last minute dinners easy and scrumptious! Highly recommend!
Always good!
Great flavors and texture and their Thai tea is on point. Pretty legit. My only complaint is that they charge more for vegetarian/vegan pad Thai sauce. I wish they would just charge it the same as regular sauce as I am frustrated with the extra $ vegetarians always have to pay to eat plant based. Technically we get less food anyway -_-
Best Pad Thai I've had in America. Lowkey place that is worth going out of your way for
This is a great takeout-focused option for excellent Pad Thai at a reasonable price. There are many different styles available, and I've liked all the ones I tried so far, but the Northern style is my favorite. Additionally, even though I didn't need it myself, I appreciated that they asked about dietary restrictions and have alternate options for people who need them.
Delicious! This is the best pad thai I've had in San Diego.
The food was exceptional! Had the northern and southern flavors and they were both tasty. The southern flavor had some coconut taste to it while the northern had curry. The noodles were a bit chewy compared to other places I've been to, not sure if they were undercooked or how they are normally served here.
The only negative was the customer service. I came in close to 2pm which was near their lunch closing time and their "Open" sign was also off, so I came to the counter and asked if they were still open just to make sure. The waitress answered with a prolonged "Yeahhh..?" and a really sarcastic face like it was an obvious thing. I wanted to walk away after her attitude but still decided to give the place a try. I was not disappointed by the food quality, but the service really needs some work.
Best pad Thai in San Diego and the most impressive vegan pad Thai I've ever had. Most spots won't do vegan because the sauce has fish sauce already. My husband really likes the flavors of the Northern Thai version.
Medium is a solid heat and hot can really get you. I don't suggest you order hot unless you enjoy hot at koon Thai. They are great about making the food close to the time you set for best flavor.
So so good! Every person that attends you here is friendly and very good at explaining your pad thai choices
This was the best Pad Thai I have ever eaten!!!
Located on North Parks farmers market (every thursday), Nat and his awesome colleague were so fun and entertaining while preparing the food. You can choose between different types of pad thai with your preferred spice level. I ate a vegetarian one with mushrooms & beans in the northern pad thai style. I can definitely recommend this place. Nat has also a restaurant in Ashford St). Thanks a lot for the great and very authentic food adventure.
If you are looking to get some great Pad Thai then there is no other place to go, this is the only dish they serve, but I’m going to need to come back to have the other variants!
Highly recommend this place to anyone unsure like I was! They only serve pad Thai here, but 4 different types, northern, central, southern, and old style. I always thought there was only one type of pad Thai in life, but I was verrry wrong. We got the Northern and Southern and they were absolutely DELICIOUS. After years of eating Pad Thai, my standards for Pad Thai have been raised! Plenty of sauce, perfectly cooked noodles, and a good mix of veggies. Mid meal, the chef/owner came out and we chatted with him and he was so genuine and passionate about his food and future plans! It made the food and experience that much better.
Storefront: 2/5 (an actual hole in the wall. I was nervous at first tbh; food health grade is an A though! And it is called the pad thai STAND)
Seating: 4/5 (limited and mismatched seating but had fire pit table and cute string lights that gave it a cozy date night vibe)
Food: 10/5 it really was that good. Made to order, truly crafted to perfection by a very kind chef/owner, great prices, great portions.
We plan to be regulars!
The real deal. Owner was super friendly, walked us through everything on the menu and the food was incredible. Best Pad Thai we've ever had.
Got the northern style, so good! Excited to try the other varieties. Amazing service also!
This place is takeout oriented, but for their price definitely can not complain. I’ve had both the northern and southern options. You can always ask them questions, and they provide great recommendations. Still my preferred spot for pad Thai.
Best pad Thai I have had in San Diego so far! Great flavors and very authentic. Big fan!
Staff is cheerful and helpful. Multiple flavors/regions of Pad Thai. Very tasty! Atmosphere is food stand-y.
The best Pad Thai.
A unique flavor.
The only thing, is only to go.
Their dine in needs improvement.
But if flavor is what you’re looking for that’s the place.
Awesome little hidden spot, with awesome Thai Tea and fantastic pad thai. Try the southern style with coconut cream!
Best Pad Thai around, super fast and always great. Be sure to show up right when you're foods ready for the best experience!
Amazing Pad Thai, the owner Nat and his staff are down to Earth and will tell you everything you need to know about Pad Thai. The food is so delicious it makes you want to cry. They set us up outside near the fire and made us feel like we were family.
Friendly staff, great food. Pick up and take home seems very popular, but there are tables and chairs onsite.
So freaking good. Got the northern pad Thai with chicken/vegetables and the suggested add ons (garlic, etc), and it blew me away. Flavor balances were on point and the portion was sized appropriately for the price. The Thai tea with boba was also super tasty. Can't wait to come back and try another pad Thai variety!
All their pad thai are very flavorful and tasty! Love how open and friendly the staff and chef are as well. The little outdoor seating area has nice ambiance. Overall, a great place to get food!
Stopped by on a whim, and was not disappointed. Got there right before they opened for dinner service, and the young man that opened the door took my order and helped me pick out options. I told him "make me cry" for spicy level, and boy did they try! I'll probably go again for the next few days till I've tried all the flavors 10/10
Do yourself a favor and just go get some pad Thai! This food is amazing, the owners are awesome! All around great experience!!
This is the best pad thai I have ever had! I love spicy and I always get spicy + chili flakes on top. As a Malaysian, I also always get the southern because it tastes as close to home and its the spiciest. Had it multiple times and they never disappoint! The bean sprouts on the side adds an extra crunchiness and you can mix it together too. This is now my comfort food in San Diego ❤️
Best pad Thai outside of being in Thailand. Highly recommend getting whichever style of pad Thai you like with the complete ingredients. Must try in SD.
Best pad Thai I’ve had in San Diego. When I went there was just one guy hustling back there. Recommend to anyone trying to have a new favorite spot.
Great food
While visiting friends, we needed a quick lunch before heading home. Thank goodness there was The Pad Thai Stand. Oh num, num, num!! I got the Southern Flavor which is roasted coconut cream with crispy shallots and peanuts. Paired with their vegetarian Pad Thai sauce, I had a perfect balance of sweet/spicy and creamy/crunchy. I got both egg and tofu which topped it all off beautifully and filled me up. Highly recommend!! You'll be happy you did!
Northern style! My favorite!
Ordered the Northern style pad thai, the flavor of the sauce is so good - the only setback for me was the noodles. They were a little mushy/over cooked. But overall the taste and quality is good, super affordable too!
This place SLAPS!! Pretty sure I would have eaten the box if I wasn't paying attention, it's that good. I got the northern with chicken and it was hands down the best pad Thai I've had. I will definitely be recommending this place to any and everyone. I will be going back to try the other styles ASAP.
Pad Thai Complete, southern flavor was really good. Fast service.
The best Pad Thai I’ve ever had in my life and service is amazing.
First, this is the best Pad Thai in San Diego. If you’re thinking about this place, just do it. You won’t regret it. But this isn’t really why I’m reviewing. It’s that I ordered through DoorDash the other night. They took over an hour to come pick up the food. The Pad Thai Stand called me and offered to come deliver it themselves and so many different scenarios. Ended up just letting DoorDash deliver but they completely remade our meals. They ate the cost to ensure I had the best experience. They are so friendly and care so much. I’d give them 100 stars if I could.
Had a lovely Chaing Mai Northern style Pad Thai today at the North Park farmers market...I got the vegeterian one, and it had a lot of nice vegetables, with very good flavors...The young man working there, whose father is from the south of Thailand was very nice, friendly, and informative....Well done and thank you!
Happy I came thru ..it smells so good from the outside
Finally ordered ..my god was delicious 😋 my new spot to go to ..wanted to go back fr more after I was done ..Lol
Pad Thai Stand is heaven. I almost didn't want to post this review just to keep this gem of a find my little secret.
I got the southern style complete pad thai and thai tea with coconut cream . For my first time here, I got medium spicy. The medium kicked my a$$, it's so good and spicy. I'll try the lesser spicy pad thai in the future - with how spicy the medium was, I trust that the mild will be flavorful. The thai tea with coconut cream was delicious !!
Very friendly service ✨ Cute semi-enclosed outdoor patio with plenty of seating and tables
I recently tried this at the Del Mar farmers market. I have had pad Thai from many places and to be honest, most of them taste the same. However this one stood out and was by far the best pad Thai and probably Thai food I have ever had. I got the northern style and it had a wonderful umami flavor. Go and try it you will not be disappointed!!
We were visiting from LA and stopped by. The food was great and the staff was so friendly. I would comeback again for more next time I’m in town.
One of the best pad thai I have ever eaten. So good
Ahhhhhhhmazing!!!! Had the southern vegan with veggies, so delicious!!! No place can compare. Staff are super helpful and cool!!
Consistently large portions with great flavors and friendly service !
Went here to get some Thai Tea for my wife, then ended up getting lunch. It was pretty delicious and pretty quick!
Out of all the Thai food I've had, I never had Pad Thai before and it was pretty delicious!
The food is AMAZING, but I’ve stopped going because every time I go order I pay cash and the employees don’t wash their hands. I went again multiple times and same thing happened. Don’t go guys, especially with the rona. :(
It's a quaint little spot at the corner of a small plaza that serves incredibly good pad thai. Veera is the most polite and attentive employee and can give recommendations based on what you have tried in the past or what flavors you're willing to explore. The menu is simple but effective, and if you want to try your more traditional pad thai, then you will want to order the "central region" style. On a somewhat unrelated note, I cannot stress enough how much of a wonderful host Veera is and that alone warrants a visit.
My favorite pad thai place. Super friendly staff.
Delicious pad thai. Get it how you like it. The vegan sauce option is awesome.
Incredible.
This is a great spot! I came with a friend after a hike on a Saturday around 11AM, and even though we had to wait a bit for our food, it was worth the wait! The seating outside had some standing tables and two sitting tables, and when we went, there was just one other party of two waiting for their food. We were deciding what to get when the phone rang, and the cashier helping us told us our order would go in before theirs which was really nice of her (especially because their order was really big). The menu was aesthetically good, and I ordered the northern pad thai which has curry in it. I got half veggies half tofu, which really turned out to be an order of veggies and an added order of tofu which I guess cost extra. We ordered and paid - mine came out to be $13.50, not sure how that was calculated (the menu said $11 - was an order of veggies $2.50?!). We sat down and waited, and they brought the food out when it was done. It was hot and delicious, and the noodles were super chewy. It was quite flavorful too, and there was a good amount of veggies and tofu. It was a TON of food, and I quite enjoyed it. The people working there were quite friendly too. I'm just a bit irked by how the bill was calculated.
This is the best pad thai I’ve ever had
The people here are very nice and the food was better the second day! Very large portions. Hope they can reopen the outside soon because I feel the food probably tastes best when served and eaten immediately
Lyric and Mark make their food magical. Best Pad Thai I've ever had tastes like heaven 😋. Also super chill dudes would come back for just the friendliness alone. Thanks guys!!!
