WOW! Thai Joint on Adams is an absolute treasure. From the moment you step in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere sets the tone for an exceptional dining experience. The staff provides top-notch service—friendly, attentive, and always ready to offer recommendations if you’re unsure what to order. It’s clear they take pride in making every guest feel special.
The food here is nothing short of amazing! Each dish bursts with authentic Thai flavors, perfectly balanced and beautifully presented. I highly recommend their Pad Thai and Green Curry; both are absolutely delicious and showcase the kitchen’s expertise. The portions are generous, and the ingredients are fresh, making every bite an absolute delight.
Whether you’re a local or just visiting San Diego, Thai Joint is a must-visit spot. The combination of outstanding food, stellar service, and a cozy ambiance makes it an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended for anyone craving a taste of authentic Thai cuisine!
My absolute favorite Thai restaurant in San Diego. It has a large dining area but seems to be more of a takeout place with how many drivers came up. But the service I received was stellar.
Started off with the Crispy Rolls, which were so fresh and extremely flavorful. The main course was the green curry with bbq park, which I got at a 10 level spicy. It was perfection.
Highly recommend this spot for dining in or take away!
Updating my post with more pics! They're fresh spring rolls are amazing. I Clive this neighborhood spot. Their Thai food is great!
Great spot in Normal Hts for take out Thai food - with not a lot of space to sit inside. I ordered the Kra Pow with mock duck (see pic), it was my first time trying mock duck and it was really good. I was bummed they forgot my rice but I called and they gave me $5 towards my next meal, which was, fresh spring rolls with shrimp. Those are always amazing!
I recommend this place if you're looking for a quick Thai fix in Normal Hts.
I usually don’t do reviews but this place is well deserving of one! I order from Thai Joint at least once a week and the staff is always so welcoming! The food is nothing short of SPECTACULAR would definitely recommend either the chicken pad thai or their yellow curry!

Ordered vegetarian pineapple fried rice, yellow curry, and spring rolls. All were fantastic!
Was not great. Went for the 2nd time after my initial visit a few years ago. I then remembered why I stayed away even though it’s in my neighborhood. Pad see ew was decent. However the pad Thai was the worst I have ever had(spaghetti noodles in a sticky sweet sauce). Not my idea of authentic Thai food. This is the place to take your grandparents from the Midwest who want “exotic” food. I’ll stick to Soi and JT’s for now.
Had the red curry (like I do at home very Thai place). Best I have had all year!!

My favorite spot for pad thai in SD. Prices are good and food is bomb.
We love Thai Joint! We’ve been going here since we first moved here and it’s still our favorite in San Diego. They have the best yellow curry I’ve ever had.

the house fried rice doesn’t miss..
Food is on point! Good Service, friendly servers, delicious food gets me coming here on a weekly basis. Make sure you check it out!
I have had the yellow and the panang curry and both are great but my go to is the panang! Its so good! The fresh spring rolls are also my go to appetizer because the peanut sauce is amazing. I usually order take out and they always get my order correct and pack it well. Never disappointed.
Wow! Don't hesitate- Best Thai food ever. I ordered tickets go and the customer service was so sweet and nice eventhough it was a busy Friday night. Pesca vegan diner - I ordered with a plan for the leftovers. Vegan pineapple rice, salad with peanutdressing, green curry with shrimp added and panamg curry. This is the most savory food I think I've had, ever. Thank you!!
It was just ok the times I've visited... It's been awhile because I am not fond of their menu.
Food is delicious! They have an additional vegan menu, boba for the Thai coffee or tea, cute atmosphere. Recommend their drunken noodles and cream cheese wontons! Super friendly staff as well (:
Wish I could tell you about the food, but it was closed on Christmas Day. It must be REALLY HARD to update your website to say as much. REALLY HARD.
Good Lord.
I usually order the dish called "See EW" at Thai John, but this time I really didn't enjoy it. I believe they used too much carrot in it, and I don't like carrots at all. Unfortunately, there was no option to have them removed. Also, the small amount of noodles were in very small pieces, which was disappointing. I hope they can improve the dish for next time! Do not want to pay for carrots.
My second time was much better!
Really love the food here. Reliable, high quality, flavorful.
Go to spot in the area at least once a week and enjoy the pad Thai and fresh spring rolls. Always great service!
Great Thai food in the heart of Normal Heights. It is great for takeout but also a very nice dining room experience. Love the pad thai with shrimp and yellow curry with chicken. Spice levels are pretty accurate but can lean a little on the spicier side. Usually get a 5 and am happy with it.
This is a small, fast casual Thai restaurant. While more limited than some larger restaurants, the menu had a good selection of standard Thai dishes such as Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, curries, and a few special dishes. Portions were generous - my Shrimp Pad Thai had a lot of shrimp and was very tasty.
We ordered take out so I don't know about the place. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. Two of us ordered 2 curry and 1 pad Thai and we had enough leftover for a small filling lunch. We wanted to order an appetizer , we didn't and we should have.
Always taking care of me and my family. Thank you for the amazing service and food
If your hungry for amazing meals. Come here
When I tell you, I just had the best basil fried rice EVER. It was so good had to get a dine in and carryout order.
The food was delicious, the service was great, the restaurant is small so I will advise you to get a reservation. We will come back for sure.
Love this place. I’m partial to the Larb Chicken salad
We just had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. We had never been but decided to spend our 40th anniversary celebration lunch here. The food was delishish and piping hot and the people were so welcoming friendly...I highly recommend this "joint".
Panang curry was way too sweet, and the food was not very good all around. My family and I had the pad thai and papaya salad.
Such a great place for vegans! Their mock duck is amazing. I recommend the drunken noodles with the mock duck. Also the panang curry is great!
I have become a regular at Thai Joint on Adam’s. I always get the panang curry with fried tofu. It is THE BEST panang curry I have ever had- I always get extra rice in the side. The Thai iced teas are absolutely amazing- however, they are a little sweeter than some of the others so if you don’t prefer sweet Thai iced teas you might forgo that one and choose one of the iced teas. The service is always IMPECCABLE, and the ambiance is also amazing. The desserts are also very good- better than I expected- it was super good the cheesecake is so good! All the appetizers are also delicious- 10/5 do recommend to everyone
I usually order the pad see ew but tried the tom yum soup this time. I don't recommend it...it was literally just broth and chicken. Hardly any vegetables. Not worth $12.
Best Thai food in San Diego
5 star service!!
The curries are so delicious!
Best Thai food in SD. Can’t go wrong with their drunken noodles or pad see ew. Their tamarind wings are also bomb. Watch out for their spicy level though, it’s properly spicy. I can handle 7-8 at other Thai food places, I can only do 5 here 😂
Ordered a few times and always excellent. The staff is so nice and helpful, very attentive and conscientious even when during busy times. Tasty fresh food, very flavorful without being too spicy hot. Generous portions.
My favorite Thai food in San Diego
Future HOF establishment over there Adams. Best Thai in SD hands down. Consistently delivers A++ product.
The best Thai in San Diego…undisputed champ
Overwhelmingly sweet, like hot candy. The Tom kha Gai was flat, and missing the richness of aromatics like lemongrass, galangal, lime leaf. I didn’t enjoy eating this food.
Absolutely amazing such good food and service
They're coconut soup hits the spot
I love this little gem on Adams! They have a special vegan menu and their offerings are fantastic. The people who work here are always friendly and pleasant.
Excellent service! Very quick. Was able to customize for allergies. Clean store. Friendly service. Will come again.
Glad to have found an awesome Thai Joint tonight. Food made from scratch with quality base ingredients. They have the 10 levels of spicy. They take the whole pepper then put it in the oven then grind it to a powder kinda spot. A 2 was good spicy for me.
They have a completly vegan menu and their base sauces are all vegan. No oister sauce or such. It was really good. I got the See Ew with "Mock Duck" which is essentially tofu, but way better. It was crispy. Very similar to a jerkey, but thick and juicy. hey also have real meat (chicken, beef, etc.) If you want. Tara was amazing, friendly, and takes the time to get to know customers. Really impressed and hope to visit again.
2nd time trying this place from Uber Eats, I got the BBQ chicken, fried rice and drunken noodles. Size portion was good, enough food to share . Taste good and I will keep on my rotation for Thai food delivery. Give it a try.
Portions are very generous, and the food is good. I had the chicken pad thai and tom yun soup. I'll take a pass on the soup next time. The reason for the 3 star is the accommodations. The place is dated, and staff wasn't attentive.
I stopped by this restaurant after attending a meeting a couple blocks away. What a good choice. I tried the Thai BBQ chicken dish with a side of steamed rice. The flavor was delicious and the service was friendly and fast. I'll definitely be going back to this restaurant but I'll bring some friends with me next time.
Excellent service. Excellent thai food. Great little spot with delicious thai food. I ordered the shrimp pad thai. It was good service here really stood out. Waitresses were always checking in and making sure I was good. Would recommend
Best meal I've had in a long time. The pork and drunkin chicken noodles and rice are sooo good. I wish this place was by me. Thank you!
Mmmmmm, and expensive
Excellent customer service, great food, vegan menu, fast, and good portions/reasonable price.
Love the food and service. Never disappoints
The decor was Bland! The service was good but the food wasn't what I expected...to be outstanding as some bragged about!
Love it 😀 great food and service .
The vegan options are so great and flavorful. It’s so great having multiple options.
The garlic pepper 🌶 chicken 🐔 is so good 👍 😋
Thai joint is an amazing little spot off of adams. They are super friendly and have great service and their food is incredible. All of their food has incredible flavors. They have a whole vegan menu that is amazing. I would recommend everything but my favorites are the half moon appetizer, yellow curry, drunken noodles with mock duck and the mock duck larb. Definitely recommend checking this spot out for dine in or take out
Updating my post with more pics!
I recommend this place if you're looking for a quick Thai fix in Normal Hts.
Why go here when you can just head down a few blocks and go to Sukhothai? The food was bland. The decor was dull. A very unsatisfying experience. The website claims that it is the same owner as Sukhothai which is far superior in taste, presentation and atmosphere.
What an amazing place!! Small but busy. Second time there and the food is great. Soup, wings, pad Thai and Thai basil fried rice, all very good!! Will keep going back!
Great food and service. There is a very good reason why this place is so popular with Normal Heights locals...try it out and you won't be disappointed.
Recently moved to the neighborhood and am grateful to live close to this restaurant! Takeout is quick and the vegan menu is amazing.
One of the better Thai restaurants in San Diego. The staff is always very friendly and I enjoy eating lunch here during the week because you can get in and out quickly. The chicken pad Thai is my favorite and I get that almost every time. Great Thai food in Normal Heights!
One of the best I’ve had. Sooo goooood!!!
This may be the best Thai food I've eaten. We had pad thai and curry. The place was clean and staff was friendly and swiftly fed us large portions. The rice was molded into a heart shape. We'll definitely return.
Neighborhood staple. Very good food and friendly service.
Have only ever had takeout, but the place is cute and the food is good. Slightly more modern Thai food.
Excellent service, very clean, nice place, big portions. As far as the food, my Pad Thai was way too sweet tasting, so sweet that I couldn't taste any other flavor in the dish. I felt like I was eating corn syrup with noodles.
LOVE THE FOOD AND THE LADIES THAT RUN THE PLACE ARE FANTASTIC! BEST THAI FOOD IN THE AREA!
Delicious. Quick. Great veggies on the See Ew, yummy curry, rice molded in a heart shape, quick service and they have alcohol! Wine, Sake, Beer.
I had a slightly acidic stomach so I ordered my Pad Thai a 3 in heat intensity. I normally do 6 or 7 at most Thai restaurants. This was barely edible. The spice took over the whole dish. It was awful. I got the strawberry cheesecake last minute and put it in the bag. It was.labeled Cheesecake Factory. It had obviously seen it's days. Specs of mold were everywhere.
One problem I can see, two shows how much they are paying attention. It was all togo food, do no one to notify.
EXCELLENT FOOD, STAFF & SERVICE, each time! We order different food each time. Glad we found this restaurant, Thai Joint on adams...
Worse Pad Thai I've eaten. The flavor was bland and noodles we're orange colored. Unsatisfactory.
Awesome food here😁
We did a group order for 20 ppl and every dish was amazing!!! Food had tons of flavor, veggies were fresh, best thai food in San Diego.
Calidad en sus alimentos y bien ricos
Without saying 1 to 10 i asked to make it spicy please. It was perfect.
Love this spot! Their menu is super vegetarian/vegan friendly too
Amazing Thai food!!
The food was really good! I got shrimp pad thai, which I've tried at many places and they do it really well. The sauce was very flavorful and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. I will definitely be back!
I want to like this place, but again, after tonight's take-out, I can't. I've tried several different meals and each one always tastes different from the previous I've had - there is no consistency with recipes/flavor.
Ordered Yellow Curry tonight and its definitely not yellow nor does it taste like it. It's orange and extremely salty.
Good vegetarian option-mock duck
Super super great Thai food. Definitely some of the best in San Diego. I can’t even go to the Thai place by my school anymore because Thai Joint is just so good. Also, the same people own Plumeria (a vegetarian Thai place) which I also HIGHLY recommend!! (The two establishments have different menus and options but I very highly recommend both!!!)
Food was was sparse, poorly seasoned, and arrived 40 minutes late. Never again.
Had the Thai bbq chicken, recommended by the waitress, over the teriyaki chicken. The chicken was cooked well. I didn’t like the dipping sauce that came with it on the side. There was also a cream cheese croquettes appetizer, which was ok. Service was good and good portion for the price.
This is the best “Thai joint” I’ve found in the county so far. The flavors are very well-balanced, and the noodles in the pad thai are at that absolutely perfect level of doneness - springy but not undercooked. Simple, well-executed thai food.
My Oder drunken noddles and gave them an 50$ all they gave back in change was 25$ wow
Great food great service
Second time ordering the Pad Thai, and still disappointed. Not sure why it’s so dang sticky.
The pad Thai is horrible. We just ate here tonight for the first and last time. We mentioned to our server that the pad Thai was not good and she was so arrogant and asked is we ever had pad Thai!!!! It was crunchy and it all stuck together. No sauce was on top either we had to ask for extra sauce. When a customer tells you that your food is terrible you inquire why. Our server just blamed us. This was the worst experience I have had at a restaurant. Poor service, poor quality food. Definitely not worth the $40. Save your money and go to fast food!
Our go-to Thai in the neighbourhood. Try the tamarind wings, they’re amazing. Also a fan of the drunken noodles and the Thai basil fried rice.
Good food, friendly service.
Nice to have a good Thai joint on Adams! 😉
Great food and good prices:) Also, a very clean and nice looking restaurant inside and a clean bathroom:)
Food is always good
Delicious food and owner is very polite. The curry is a bit on the sweet side but delicious either way. Thai basil fried rice is on point for this Thai Joint.
I was very excited to find a Thai place so close to our new place. And it didn't go as well as I was hoping: we ordered off the vegan menu, ended up with egg in the drunken noodles. When we pointed it out, they made no offer to change it, they simply confirmed "yes, that's egg". They asked if we wanted brown rice or white rice, we asked for brown, they came out with white. And last but not least, we both asked for a 1 on the spice scale because we read on Yelp and Google that a 4-5 is more like a 1 in that place because they over do it, and ... well one of us had zero spice in the dish, it was quite bland. and the other could barely finish it from the excessive heat. A disappointment throughout. We were the only customers in the entire restaurant eating in (at 7pm on a Saturday night) and I guess that is why.
Very yummy! Try the lychee iced tea!
I ordered the Chicken Larb Salad for lunch.
It was delicious so I went back for dinner and got Panang Curry. The flavor was excellent. I would recommend twice the amount of the serving of rice as I had none left for leftovers. I also like potatoes and peanuts in my Panang but I will definitely have it again.
This place messes up food all the time because they don't pay attention to the customer at all. How else does a thai food place mess up fried rice!! I will never go back here. Too much money to pay to someone to mess up your dinner.
Fast, fresh, & friendly service. The food was amazing and will definitely stop here again on our next pass through.
Wonderful food, peaceful place to eat it.
Great food
Delicious Thai food. Try the e sang sausage starter.
I like the Tom Yum, be careful adding how much spicy would be your food.
Great food but no peanuts spices set up at the table which is just necessary for a Thai restaurant. Otherwise good.
Excellent food. Not a huge selection but excellent anyway. They definitely run on the hotter side but if you're on Adams Ave. I recommend Thai Joint.
Owner was somewhat rude and I ordered barely any spice on my food and my mouth is burning from eating this pad thai. Might taste good but not sure cause my mouth is on fire from how spicy it is.
Always fresh with flavors on point 🙏🍃 Awesome menu (and an amazing vegan menu too!)
It's so good.....
Ate my food so fast I didn't go to take a picture! Excellent food and service!
Some of the best thai food in mid-town. Regularly get take out and portions are pretty decently sized.
I guess it's ok if you like Thai and are not really hungry.
I would recommend this place to anyone who loves good food😊👍If you enjoy spicy and vegan entrees, this is great😊Even vegan sweets🎂I am pleased😘3 is hot, hot, hot🤯
Delicious food, great service and super friendly staff.
Food was good, and Tara did a great job!
So good! Before this place opened we always went to Bahn Thai, but this place is such a close rival that we haven’t gone there since. I love their pad see ew, yellow curry, and Tom kha soup.
Chicken noodle are good!
It is a small place but good food and service! 😊
Good for vegetarian options but their food tends to be oily and salty.
Amazing food for vegans. They also own Plumeria and Chi in the same area.
They're awesome but I wish they had call waiting or an online ordering system because it's 2019.
One of the better choices in the area. But seating is very very limited
Really good food. Made fresh. Really nice place.
LOVE the yellow curry. I haven't dined in, yet, as I live down the street and call in my orders to go. However, they've been prompt and accommodating in my experience.
We had the drunken noodles with mock duck, crispy rolls, and a couple of boba drinks. The mock duck was crispy, and the the noodles had a nice slight aldente bite to them. Good food, and great customer service!
Easily the best Yellow Curry I’ve ever had! And that’s saying something. 🌶 thanks again!
Very clean and delicious food; love the owners!
Favorite Thai in SD
The panang curry that I received from here was quite possibly the best that I’ve ever had. It was spicy, sweet, savory and very well balanced. The chicken was tender and flavorful, not dry or chewy in the least. I’ve had panang from quite a few places but this one...wow. I will be returning often. Kudos and great job on impressing a guy that’s not easily impressed!
Best thai I've had in a long time. Flavors stay in your mouth for days .... mmmm thank you!
Not just a great Thai joint to have in the neighborhood. Just a great Thai joint. I had the drunken noodles and was a bit concerned about the spice level after reading the one bad review. I like spicy but know I'm not Thai so I stuck with my usual 4. Great spicy flavor without melting my face. They warn you in advance that they're a spicy bunch. Our new regular spot for Sunday Thai.
Friendly service and delicious food. Not much seating inside, though! Beware: even a spiciness level of 2/10 is still quite hot!
