At Mama Made Thai, we believe delicious food doesn't need to be made complicated; simply combine mom's classic recipes with fresh & simple ingredients.
Pad Thai and Thai Tea were delicious, but the way they take and work on orders is chaotic. Even a simple order of two Pad Thai noodles and two Thai Teas was screwed up twice. Immediately after ordering, the lady made one tea and forgot about the other one, then had to check the order to verify I really order two. Then after 10 min wait I realized she forgot also the two Pad Thai and she had to check the order again to realize her mistake.
Pretty nice Bao place. I saw it’s over there for a long time and finally got a chance to try it out. The taste is decent, I won’t say it’s authentic because I originally come from China. But they taste fine. The rice wrap is my favorite. The roasted pork over rice is delicious too. I don’t really recommend the bbq bun, it’s too pricey comparing to the size and taste.
We decided to give a try to One of Liberty Stations-Public Market busiest spots. It did not disappoint!! Was well worth the wait. We tried the “Bao Buns” and chicken skewers rice plate. The bins were absolutely delicious… you have the option of Pork, Chicken, and Tofu. The pork and chicken were packed with flavor. Will definitely come back and taste the PadThai noodles..
I've gotten the spicy chili stir-fry twice and it was so good I'm starting to crave the flavor of this sauce. I didn't experience the poor service that other reviewers are commenting on. The atmosphere of the Public Market giant food mall is hectic and noisy, I never eat indoors but will take food outdoors and to eat. I've had some pretty mediocre food at the public market, this place really stands out 😛
Friend and I ordered the chicken and tofu from here. The tofu had a lot of flavor and we really liked the sauce. The bun was so light and fluffy and went really well with the pickled veggies. Real problem with the chicken, we may have gotten an old batch but it was so tough and had such a gamey taste we couldnt finish it.
Great to see a bao place at the market though.
I ordered tom yum soup and it was the worst. Not to mention the lady's rude service. No, I am not coming back here nor recommend to anyone.

Ordered Beef Pad Thai. Received a container of sticky noodles, tea spoon of peanuts, and a very few slivers of non tender beef.
As you can see from almost all of my reviews, I only give reviews on things I really like. In fact the last review I gave was on an airport fast food Thai restaurant. I was amazingly surprised there at how good it was. Unfortunately I'm amazed at how poor the pad tai was at Mama Made. I have to say it's like the McDonald's of Thai food. Thai food is usually fresh and balanced. But this was mushy, overly sweet, tasted kind of like ketchup, and that's about it. Maybe it was a bad day. Maybe a bad cook. But it was definitely a bad experience.
If you're interested while you're here, I'd recommend taking a look at somebody else's order to see what you think before ordering for yourself.

No flavor and overpriced
Pad thai is not good, tom kha the worst I had for a long time, no coconut flavor no mushrooms.
This might be the best green curry I’ve had outside of Thailand. I’ll definitely be back for more!
Love this place! Every thing I’ve tried is so good including the Pad Thai, Chicken Panang and See Ew. Great portions for a good price.
The pad thai was so tomato-ey and nasty. Save your money.
Food was excellent! I just don't appreciate getting absolutely no shrimp when that's what I paid for... check your order. They were not busy either!
Ordered Thai chicken fried rice. It was bland and flavorless. I am no chef and I can do better. Not a fan of the new trend with counter order fast food restaurants asking for tips before the food is delivered. I would like my tip back.
Unprofessional staff, disorganized….
Food took forever and came completely different from what we ordered
Their bao here is okay. Definitely not the best I’ve ever had.
Everything else was pretty bad. I ordered the chicken with rice. The meat was really tough/dry and I watched them microwave everything. Usually when I buy food I expect to have some sort of freshly made meal. Definitely not worth paying $10-20 meal for heat up leftovers. Unless I’m way out of line here, I didn’t know it was standard practice to serve microwaved food as your business.
I had spicy basil with chicken
I will never order again from this place
The chicken was too old taste so bad I couldn’t eat it
The food is just okay. We tried it twice because we love buns. The second time they didn't include the buns in our order and we didn't realize until we got home. They don't really give receipts so they were not helpful when we called back. They did offer to have it ready for us but we live 20 minutes away.
EDIT: The system won't allow me to reply to the owner, but there were no bbq buns in my order. I only received my two orders of dumplings and a beef bowl.
Just tried this place for the first time today and I’m so glad we did! The pork bao bun was delicious, and the fresh cilantro on top was a beautiful touch. The milk teas were refreshing with just the right amount of sweetness. The ladies there were also very lovely to talk to. We had an overwhelmingly positive experience here. Highly recommend it!
Incredible experience. The veggie bao buns are a little different than the tofu bao buns and I didn’t know that when I ordered them but the lady making everything was so kind and gave me an extra tofu bao bun anyway. Phenomenal service. Also gave my roommate an extra bbq bao bun when we went back and got more!!
I just ordered a vegetable and a taro bun. I left and got to the car and bit into the vegetable bun only to find meat inside. I immediately spit it out and I walked back in and told her this wasn't vegetable. She claims up and down that it was. She said it's tofu but it does not have a consistency of tofu. How dare they try to pawn non-vegetarian food for vegetarian food. People are not used to eating meat can get very sick because you don't want to own up to your mistake. I will never eat there again!!
Item ordered: Beef Rice Bowl
Came in on a Friday afternoon/evening, I had seen this location before and was looking forward to trying their food. Once I ordered I realized that the beef was not cooked to order or freshly, rather it was being microwaved. Only one employee was working which may have been why everything was being microwaved. The beef skewers were cold and not flavorful.
The worst boba and buns I've ever had. Ordered a BBQ bun, boba milk tea, and a BAO bun. The bao bun was okay. The BBQ bun was old and stale, the breading just crumbled away and was super dry. The boba in the milk tea was awful, a bit crunchy and dried out. Seemed like week old boba that went bad.
This place was horrible and I don't recommend eating here.

The best pork buns ever!!!! The dumplings are amazing as well.
Food was good. Good ratio of curry to rice. Only thing i didnt like was the container. The top couldn't fit on the bottom but not a big deal.

Ordered pot stickers and Thai curry. I should say, the curry was one among the best I've ever had! Creamy and tasty! The pot stickers also had a great balance of flavor. Overall, a great experience!
I only ever get the Thai Fried Rice and I'm a big fan. The portion isn't very big for the price, but the flavor is on point.
The worst Thai food, I've had in SD. The vegetable yellow curry was made of a few chunks of almost raw potatoes, 4 slivers of carrots- near raw as well, a few slices of onions. Was there other vegetables? Not that I can remember. The tofu looked like it was crumped and it was raw and silky, not crispy, not fried. Also, the green curry has fish sauce, but you'd only find that out if you asked. If I had received my order in the market, I would have immediately asked for a refund. There was nothing cooked or tasty about this meal.
Excellent Bao Buns
Went to Liberty station Market on Black Friday for the tree lighting. It was a mad house. Bao bar was the fastest line. Got two pork rice bowls and two black milk teas. So good! So much flavor. Can’t wait to go back. Super nice customer service.
good shrimp spring roll, a little tricky to eat since the wrapper was stuck to the container, but tasty peanut sauce and sour sauce to go with it $9.50 for two pieces, and $6.50 for one shrimp bao bun (shrimp is not breaded as some places do), very good sauce on it!
my fast food dinner quickly added up to $20 for two small apps with tip-
Underwhelming and disappointing. The "sampler" is basically just your standard frozen food appetizer sampler from your local grocery store. Certainly not made in house. My least favorite of the locations I tried at Liberty Public Market.
Tasty food, but I wish that there was less rice and more of the actual entree
So I mentioned them in the other review for Liberty but very good and my son ate his as soon as he got it.
Not Thai food. Tried the yellow curry which was more like Indian curry and the Pad Thai noodles were over cooked and mushy. Portions were good though. If you’ve been to Thailand or travelled through Asia, don’t expect authentic.
Recommend the Tom Kha and Penang Curry. Both were spot on.
Good bao, yummy iced tea. The vinegrette with the spring roll : delicious. Fast and nice service. On the expensive end of street food but worth a try!!!
Best bao sandwiches-the tofu an d veggie sandwiches are fantastic!!!
Great Bao buns. Had the pork and spring roll, So good. Go there and you will be pleasantly surprised. By how good the buns are.
Freaking phenomenal bao buns. Had the spring roll this time and oh my gosh it's so fresh and delicious. I'll be back, over and over again
Quantity of the rice bowl was very acceptable and for the hour of the day that I was there, the veggies were good. The beef was quite tough though and I doubt I will have it again.
I love bao bar and what buns they carry I got the pork Bao and shrimp bao and also got the fresh spring roll with Chicken, they also have wonderful drinks and is sooo refreshing I tried the tarp smoothie and also the fresh tea with strawberries, the staff is nice and they practice social distancing, will definately come back to support.
Disappointing. We drove 15 mins to pickup our to-go order only to find upon getting home that we were missing two items we were charged for. Didn't have enough food for the family to eat. At least what we did get tasted good though.
Had some pork buns that were so savory and delicious! The garlic topping really makes it an umami powerhouse. I’ll be going back for more!
This is my go-to Thai place. I LOVE the spicy basil friend rice.
The food tasted fresh and delicious!
Delicious bao buns, smoothies, mango sticky rice, and more options! They just launched their new drinks! I've tried the wildberry and taro, it was very refreshing after my walk at Liberty Station. Will be coming back for more to try their new drinks.
I love this place! Parking might be tricky but it's worth it! The wings are on point!
not good food. the vegetables noodles only had 2 broccoli and way too much noodles.
Ordered over the phone for take out. Food was sitting under the "pick up here" but was told I had to go to the back of the line to pay for the food that was sitting there. Waited for another 10 minutes to get through this long line and asked for a cup of water for my dog to which I had to pay $2 for a bottled water as they dont give tap water to paying customers. Although all of this was inconvenient and annoying, the real problem was asking for a spice level 1 and getting possibly the spiciest thai food I have ever eaten. I typically order a 3 or 4 depending on my mood, but this was for a friend who cannot eat spicy food. When she told me it was too spicy to eat I tried a bite and dont blame her for having to throw it out. Will not be returning to this establishment. Food has great flavor but the business is run poorly.
By far some of the best Thai food in central San Diego. Everything is always tasty and fresh.
The owner is really nice and the food is super delicious!!!
Love the food. Miss being able to drive down and buy a dozen to go!
Good foods. But they missed one of our orders each time we visited. So if you ordered more than seven things like we did, check your orders before you leave the place so you won't have to go back.
We go to Mama Made Thai every time with go to Liberty Public Market. We always get the Pad See Ew Noodles with Chicken. The Noodles always come piping hot and delicious. I have had different Pad See Ew Noodles at other places and the Noodles always seem to be broken up, but not here.
However, yesterday I ordered two orders of the Pad See Ew Noodles with Chicken to go. Unfortunately, the lady (who is not all that friendly) put my order in wrong and upon returning home,I realized that I received one order with chicken and the other with just veggies. Not bad, but I am a meat eater and I would have liked my order the way I ordered it.
However, overall tasty noodles. One suggestion, typical Thai food places add a different level of spice to your food, to your liking. This place doesn't, but it would be nice if they did, as we love a little spice.
The food is not bad, but severely overpriced. And they expect a tip when they do not even bring the food to you. The menu could explain better what is in each plate. I asked for veggies and meat (there was no rice mentioned in the description) and most of the plate was rice.
Fresh Bao!
Delicious food and thai tea with boba.
Tried their curry fried rice with beef, fragrant and delicious 👌🏻 service was friendly too
I love the Thai ice tea. My family likes the yellow curry chicken.
This is some of the best Thai food I’ve had in a while. LEGIT. Great prices too! I got the pad Thai and yellow curry with chicken. Def ordering again.
Overpriced for portions and drinks. For a few more dollars you can eat better and get double amount of food and drinks at other Thai places.
I waited 30 min for a simple chicken pad thai dish. After one bite I realized it was inedible and upon explaining this to the server I was told that she was sorry, no offer for my money back or another dish. It seemed and tasted as though whoever made the dish had never made it before. Very disappointed and will not be giving this place my business again.
Good noodles
Food was average. We ordered the pad see ew, veggie fried rice, and the fried calamari. Pad see ew should have had more veggies, fried calamari seemed out of a bag... Nothing fancy they were all the exact same size ring which leads me to believe it was bagged. Maybe just an off day.
If everything on their menu is just as good as their Thai Fried Rice and appetizer sampler, which includes spring roll, potsticker & coconut shrimp, then I can't imagine the rest of their dishes being mediocre.
The food is pricey for the portions you get. I had the yellow curry (delicious) and my wife had the shrimp pad thai (she thought it tasted of tomato ketchup). There can be lines and the number system for orders needs to be changed. K
