The Pad See ew were delicious as was the curry puffs and the tempura shrimp! I also liked their Thai tea and it was a little on the sweet side but still good! I will definitely be back if I’m back in the area

We were very pleasantly surprised. I always come to dry cleaners next door and never noticed this place. Will definitely be back and highly recommend it.

Check any take out before you leave. They get orders wrong & don't care.

Authentic recipes, great pricing, excellent service, what more could you ask for? they have an awesome lunch menu. I highly recommend you get the soup or salad and for your entree you can choose vegetarian, chicken, beef, pork, seafood Etc and the prices are excellent such a great value.
Update: The service is still good even though like other restaurants they are having trouble finding help.

All the dishes are really good.

I recommend Pad Woon Sen.

Both of our dishes were very under-spiced. My husband ordered the duck curry spice level 7, and I would say it was closer to a two by most Thai spice scales. I ordered cashew nut tofu medium spice, and it was basically zero spice. I'm not sure if this is typical for them. I would say the overall impression was very whitewashed Thai food, unfortunately. The vegetables were fresh and the chicken skewer was fine.

I thought the food was tasty. I h had spicy pork and noodles. And a soup Tom something, can't Remember the exact name. I wasnt familiar with the spices they used, but it was good.
We were 5 in our party and no one was particularly demanding, but the server had an attitude. My friends and I are older ladies and sometimes I think there may be something of a discrimination against older people. Probably because they may think we're not good tippers.
And in some cases they might be right. I usually eat out at a sit down restaurant around the first of the month since most of my friends and I are on fixed income. The rest of the time we're hanging out at taco bell eating from the value menu.

This place is the real deal. Authentic Thai food with a great atmosphere. We had a variety of dishes and they ALL were delicious and fresh. Service was quick and friendly.

If I could give zero stars I would! I have allergies to tofu and seafood and cannot have them. I order spring rolls with chicken from them all the time because of my food allergies. Spring rolls with chicken is not on the menu but they have always accommodated me. I called to order them and the man on the phone said he would not accommodate my needs because they were too busy. I have been coming here for many many years. He then proceeded to hang up on me. I will never step foot back in this place.

Was surprised and very pleased with the pricing, and the food was some of the best I've had for Thai in SD. Wasn't expecting that since I just swung in randomly after seeing a client.
I'll keep it in mind when I'm in the area.

Pleasant atmosphere, reasonably priced, tasty food, and pleasant staff. We always have the fried spring rolls no matter what else we order. Tonight we had the sweet and sour chicken.
Had dinner last night consisting of appetizers. As always. the food was excellent.

They never make sure the order is right before handing it over to the dasher or uber eats driver. Ive been a faithfull customer for a while but every delivery seems to get worse each time..its either missing items or food aint spicy as requested and for amount of delivery fee they charge the food better not be messed up otherwise you will loose a consistent customer. Its time to explore other restaurant at this rate

I don't know why this place has such a high star review.
I ordered the Drunken Noodles with shrimp,vegetables and calamari, plus the fried spring rolls. The D.N. was a bit mushy and about 15 percent of it was just large chunks of Cabbage sauteed in,which is a cheap filler restaurants use,the calamari was like rubber and not even chewable or edible,
Calamari is a hard thing to cook and easy to mess up, so it was kinda expected,,
the shrimp in it was good.
The spring rolls were good. Sauces were good.
Overall it was just average or a little below, maybe the people in the area don't have taste buds and know good food or the rating is rigged by the business because that was definitely a 3.5 star meal.
If I tried it again I would order something simple to cook.
The service was fast and friendly so I will try them again but don't expect 4.5 star food.

Decent Thai food overall, but VERY little chicken in my red curry. I ordered extra chicken for $3 and still received barely a few pieces of chicken overall. The curry fried rice was good though!

Not thai food. Nothing fresh. No basil. Soggy noodle. Watery broth soup. Even the Thai coffee tasted like instant coffee (how can you do that to such a good drink?) Feeling sick from the food. Don't go here. Very expensive for what food they give.

Hidden gem in SC

I ordered the what would be drunken noodles. Wide flat noodles with basil ect. They charge no matter what for any neat or vegetarian. I ordered vegetarian& called to say no carrots no celery and had to pay for 3 pieces of broccoli... yep...I called them ..then it didn't have basil or peppers..which are just part of the recipe period. Will never order from them again because I called ahead of time gave them verbal order , di doordash, which doesn't refund you the whole amount at all that's illegal. Go to Bahn Thai. For great Thao food best drunken noodle ever hands down.

Welcome to Thailand! Loved the food! Kau pad moo (Thai fried rice with pork) was absolutely perfect. Chai yen (Thai tea) on point. My waitress Faith was very attentive and helpful. She checked on me at the right times and made sure everything was going well. This place rocks! I almost forgot I wasn't in Bangkok. Definitely worth a visit.

This is a good restaurant.. I live close to it and order there every once in a while.. They are quick with getting the order out and the food is good.. It's a decent place to eat at, as well.

Basil Thai is my go-to for delivery. (Usually doordash) They are super fast, the food is always delicious and hot, and packaged well. I order every few weeks and it is consistently good. I'm a big fan of the red curry with extra chicken and also the satays or dumplings. The cost is fair even with delivery service charges. A+++

Ordered take out.for dinner. The Thai chicken was dry, the calimari in the Pad Thai had an awful smell and the the PadThai was bland. The Tom Yum was a clear broth with some vegetables and a freshly quartered tomato, all of which needed at least another 30 minutes on the stove. I'm thinking maybe their regular cook was out sick and they got the eyebrow lady from the shop next door to cook in his absence. I just can't imagine that they could stay in business if this is what they serve every day.

I ordered the shrimp and calamari pad thai and the chicken Panang curry. I was really excited for this but honestly the pad Thai was really bland, the calamari tasted nasty and the shrimp tasted like it had been wayyy over cooked. I had a few bites and threw the pad Thai out. The panang curry was ok.

We have been going here for years. Always friendly and clean. The food is made fresh to order. With delicious flavoring. I'm glad they have been able to stay open during this difficult time. But, when you are kind and great to the community. You can definitely count on the support. The curry is definitely a top item. They make every flavor pop out.

I had Pad Woon Sen and the green papaya salad. They both were very good. Although dining in wasn't available, the people behind the counter were nice.

We've been ordering food from Basil Thai Bistro for several years. Love the Spicy Fried Rice. Staff is always polite and accommodating. We'd never received an incorrect order until the other night and didn't realize the mistake until we arrived home. We called the restaurant and they immediately offered to deliver us the correct order at no charge. Delicious food and excellent customer service!

Ordered the Sampler plate. It was delicious. Enough samples for 2 or 3. The food was great. Ordered medium hot. Got medium hot, but the hot seemed to be at the bottom of the dish.

Hubby and I go there for lunch after Yoga. It's a new favorite tradition. They have reasonably priced lunch specials which really are tasty. I usually get the green curry with extra eggplant and Mark likes the Pad See Ew with chicken. We sometimes meet friends or family there, and they, too enjoy the food and the ambiance. Good service with a smile. We've loved it for months.

Not bad. First time and I'll definitely go back. Service was a little slow (we were the only ones there). There spice grading system seemed really accurate.

Best Fast Food

When I am craving Thai food there is no other place like this one! I have tried many other places but they can never compare. Whatever sauce they use for the PadThai and Spicy Noodles - it’s delicious! Not too salty and the noodles are never over/under cooked. The food comes out fast and fresh. I recommend getting their sampler platter so you can try all kinds of appetizers they have. Also their sweet rice with mango is my favorite!!! I love coming here and it’ll always be theee Thai spot in San Diego!!

Great Thai food, got here at 6pm, within the hour the place was packed.

We throughly enjoyed all the food served on the night, also the gluten free meals. The entrees of , chicken satay, spring rolls were all heat hot and tasty. Cashew Nut and Pad Thai were all a good size serving and very tasty. Not being a lover of rice I couldn’t stop eating the chicken fried rice, not sure what was in it but it was yummy. Friendly staff, very attentive. Recommend this restaurant and would definately return.

We went there for lunch in a small group last week. The food was nice. Seemed to be fairly authentic. Good choice on the menu. Though the menu not mention about Vegan dishes but no big deal. After asked the waiter, They have a lot of choice for Vegan dishes. Unfortunately, Their curries couldnt do. He was reasonably attentive.
Everyone in our group seemed satisfied with their meals. Easy parking in front of the restaurant.

They prominently advertise their vegetarian and vegan offerings...yet a phone call placed to management reveals there is fish stock and chicken broth in EVERYTHING, even those things marked vegan! What the...?!

I'm sorry, please remind me what kind of plants chickens and fish grow on?

This is unacceptable, and their "oh well" attitude about it, once confronted, is unconscionable.

They are dosing unwitting vegetarians and vegans with the very ingedients they are dining there to avoid. That's just laziness at best, and outright sinister at worst.

VEGANS AND VEGETARIANS, BOYCOTT THIS PLACE!!!

There are plenty of other options where you won't be exposed to animal ingedients, and where the integrity of your choices and commitment is properly respected.

Never been to a Thai restaurant before, so I was Eyes Wide Open! Had the shrimp with noodles and salad service was excellent shrimp came out hot and delicious. Would go there again, and again! Thanks to Devotion to dogs Nicole and Ben for introducing me to the restaurant.

Most of the food is passable, but today I ordered the Mango Sticky Rice for my Thai wife and it was abysmal. Three big problems with one dish: 1. The mango was unripe and sour. 2. The rice for this dish should be cooked with the coconut milk. They just cooked like you do for a savory dish, then poured coconut milk on top. 3. The serving size for $6.40 cost was minuscule. You can tell they are used to serving food to people who don’t know what it should taste like.

Every area has a BEST Thai food place. After trying dozens of Thai restaurants around East County and even central SD, this place is my favorite. Friendly staff and quick service as well. My go to spot for picking up lunch to take back to work.

This is a good average Thai place. There's more intimate seating in booths and tables. It's pretty nice inside, modern décor, decorated. Staff is okay and is accommodating. Take out time was acceptable, even though it wasn't busy at all.

I ordered the pad thai with tofu. The noodles were soft, and came with egg, green onion, bean sprouts, peanuts. The flavor was just okay, it was pretty oily, but also lacked a little tartness that it would usually have.

They always have fast service, even during peak times. professional and attentive staff plus excellent food at great prices. kind of a hidden gem. my food is still steaming half way through meal, and beautiful presentation as well! would definitely recommend!!

Informative and amazingly fast service, true-to-cuisine taste, super-satisfying favorites: tofu chicken soup (with galangal, carrots and cabbage), just- right sweet and spicy Curry Panang, pleasant traditional background music, tasteful decor, linens, right- in- front parking, weekly new items, etc.!
