Fast, casual, authentic Thai food. We are focused on giving back to the community and keeping authentic Thai food affordable for all to enjoy. Our Chef and co-owner, Jit, has over 25 years of experience, so we promise the food is delicious and the real deal!
This is the Thai place that actually got me into Thai coming from someone who hadn’t really enjoyed it before. It’s super quaint and beautiful with some of the nicest decoration I’ve seen in a restaurant of such quality. What I find amazing though, and has been a seller for me time and time again, is how cheap the food is and how amazing it tastes. The spring rolls cost 1$ and they’re actually huge and delicious. I’ve had cheap spring rolls that taste alright and soggy, but they’re always crunchy and the sauce that accompanies it is always buss. The Pad Thai is good. I don’t think i’m fit to be the ultimate judge on authenticity or taste because of my lacking experience with Thai Food, but it’s really good and it’s what made me try the cuisine again. I really enjoyed the dish though, and I recommend first time triers to get the Kids Pad Thai because it’s literally 7.50 USD, in this economy😼. The portion is also really big relative to how much I’m paying. I think next time I’ll go for the full size just because of how much I liked it, but I’m really happy they have these more “trial sized” Thai classics so people who don’t know the cuisine aa well can get a proper introduction. But aside from the food, I also love that they have an amazing beverage variety. They have all kinds of soda cans, but it seems like they specialize in the drinks they make there. I’ve had to limeade and it’s really yummy, although I loved the Mango Black Tea I had on this time the most. It was refreshing, and not overly sweet which I love whenever I’m drinking Iced Tea. Try this place out frr, and see if y’all vibe with it, but overallll DAYGOEATSCERTIFIED✅✅📋
Best Thai food in San Diego county. Amazing quality, great service, zen, open and spacious atmosphere. I love the koi pond. I eat here multiple times a week. Thank you for the great food and service!
Very disappointed with the service. Do you expect to dine in with paper plates and plastic disposable spoons 🙄? Yes, they served us like that. Also, they gave us water in plastic cups and never bothered to add more. Taste was just ok, nothing exceptional. Stir fry was so dry and tasteless that we could not eat it with the rice. And above all, the benches were sticky! Yes, they were sticky as if they were not cleaned properly or someone has poured honey all over it. Tissue papers got stuck to it and out forearms were sticking as we leaned on them while eating.
Totally disappointed👎.
Dirty unhygienic place. Food tasted about okay. Do not recommend for a dining experience. Maybe for a takeout. But the lack of hygiene around the place was a big turnoff for me. The plastic plates and spoons too. Just avoid.
This place is awesome!! it really does remind me of Thailand. The food is excellent, served like it is at a similar establishment in Thailand. The atmosphere was fantastic. Food came out quick. I will definitely come back. I’ve been driving past this place since it opened and have always wondered. I’m so happy I stoped by today.
The food is amazing here ! Me and my boyfriend got the drunken noodles and the pad see ew noodles. The food came out fresh, tasty and hot. You can choose your spice level which is very accommodating. The service is friendly and fast. Natasha helped us with our order and she was very welcoming. We look forward to coming back soon. If you’re looking for the best thai food in san diego this is it !
Great food. Mild can be spicy (according to my friend) if you're not used to it. I had the level right above mild and that was the right level for my preference! Fried egg was an additional amount.
When in doubt ask for clarification. If mild to you is ketchup, let the chefs know haha.

The food is great, the restaurant is beautiful, and the service is amazing. Would highly recommend anyone visiting San Diego to go here.
Simply the best!!
The massaman curry doesn’t taste anything like massaman curry. Was very gross. Chicken was rubbery and the curry very watery. It didn’t taste like it had any coconut milk at all.

We ordered drunken noodles the noodles were overcooked and mushy and the only flavor I could detect was basil and it wasn’t very nice no other flavor not even salt the service was very good the workers were very nice but the food was not made properly the Thai tea was not very good either
We ordered green curry, yellow curry, kids fried rice, and spring rolls. We ordered brown rice and got white. There were no bell peppers or Serrano peppers in either of the curry dishes and there were only 2 pieces of potato in the yellow curry. The kids fried rice was too salty to eat. Both curries were tasteless, like they were from a can or a jar. The meals were so disappointing that we will not be going back.

With that name (a play on words in Thai) I expected it to be authentic, but all the dishes were western fusion. The food was still good though. With the disposable silverware, I wouldn’t take a date here, but it was a good meal for the price.
I love 55 Thai in PB, Staff is always cool. My favorite dish is the Panaan Curry with Salmon on their specials.
100% recommended. Environment is chilling too!

Though it’s a simple structured place, it’s spacious and nicely setup. The servers are nice and helpful. But if you’re seeking for Thai food, the taste is no where near Thai cuisine.
Was extremely good in a new upcoming spot, real cutlery would be nice though
The place is so cute, clean and the food is delicious. The team is so welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended!!
The best Pad See Ew I’ve had in San Diego. Generous amounts of all ingredients. Highly recommend.
LOVE this local Thai spot! They are family operated & the ambience/customer service is always 10/10.
The drunken noodles and yellow curry entrees so far are my favorite & the beverage recommendations have been mint. Their thai iced coffee & mango green tea are *chef’s kiss*
I recommend this place to anyone looking for some good grub in PB or Bankers Hill! (:
Loved every bite. Quick service. Such a great spot
4.5 stars. Excellent curry. Excellent pad Thai. Super cool live edge table. Friendly, helpful staff.
Best Thai in PB
Very bad service, even that they realize that they make mistake with my order and didn’t take it through the still tried to lie and make a joke
Green curry was too sweet and had no heat even though I ordered it hot. I added an entire container of dried chili flakes and it bumped the heat to mild. The zucchini was thinly sliced half moons that didn't add any texture or flavor.

Amazing food and service. The salmon panang curry was delightful. The outside of the salmon was crispy and the curry was smooth and creamy.
Definitely recommend!
Great food and service. Great value as well. Vegan and vegetarian options are plentiful. Highly recommend.
I absolutely love their veggie pad thai!! 🤤
Huge fan of this place. Delicious food, solid prices, and great atmosphere!
Not sure why this place has 4.4 stars. It’s cheap which is great but the food was probably the worst Thai I’ve had. You get what you pay for.
good prices for large, super flavorful portions. casual but the inside is really nice. love the sauces. highlights were the gai tod chicken, basil chicken, tom yum soup and tom kha soup w noodles.
The service was quick and friendly, and the food was delicious! The atmosphere is kind of industrial with high ceilings and some family style tables along with two tops and four tops. The only reasonably priced restaurant left in Pacific Beach.
Recommended for satisfying that Thai food craving! Try the drunken noodles.
Reasonably priced tasty green curry on the lighter side.
I love the food here. And the service is amazing too.
Favorite place to come when we looking to eat Thai food
Great food. Mild can be spicy (according to my friend) if you're not used to it. I had the level right above mild and that was the right level for my preference! Fried egg was an additional amount.
When in doubt ask for clarification. If mild to you is ketchup, let the chefs know haha.
I ordered from this place the service is excellen, the drunken noodles were acceptable but nothing special with big chunk pieces of tomatoes. The fried thai riced I do not recommend at all. I think I can choose a better option next time.
Great food we always hit up their spot during lunches.
My sister and I had lunch here and it was amazing! We had the shrimp Pad Thai and the fried tofu green curry. Both were delicious and the portions were really generous and filling. The server also brought us out a complementary order of veggie spring rolls which were super crisp and tasty! We highly recommend eating here, the restaurant is spacious inside and there are tables outside near a beautiful little koi pond. Loved it!
Really high quality, authentic Thai food at a reasonable price with a great chill atmosphere. Highly recommend!
The food is delicious. I had this salmon curry dish that wasn't on the menu but a special they were having at the time. It was so delicious!!! I hope they add it to their regular menu. Also, the Thai coffee is the best. Seriously craving the food just thinking about it.
Good pad Thai
The food was so bland I genuinely suspected that I had COVID. Portions were small.
The service was really rude and kitchen was close 30 min before the time they say
My wife and I were visiting SD and looking for a walkable place to get some thai food. Didn't want to get any closer to the beach, so we landed on 55 Thai Kitchen. Looking at the photos ahead of time, I saw a picture of the pad thai, and you just have that feeling you know it's going to be good based on how it looks. It did not disappoint. The portions were very appropriate for the price. Atmosphere was great. Wish this place was down the street from my actual house. Will definitely consider returning again next time we visit.
PS: Here's another pad thai photo.
Always great food and people.
Really like the Thai food here.. just wasnt as spicy as i wanted it. But the restaurant is so beautiful inside very nice really liked it. We parked in the traders joes parking lot and walked over was pretty easy give them a chance
Not the best pad thai place. For the first few bites, it was good but as I ate more it became a bit tasteless unfortunately.
Nice staff, food is basic...good location...green plants indoors..
The best Thai food I’ve had in SD. Great prices and a huge amount of food. The place is unique inside too.
My favorite. Thank you for the great food & friendly service!!
Tom yum soup was delicious, fried chicken and rice, drunken noodles, fried tofu and shrimp salad was all great. Service was great and the value was there. It was my first time here and is probably my new Thai spot in PB. However, like where many Thai restaurants fail, drunken noodles need to have a charred color to the noodles from the hot wok. Wish the cook was more aware of correct methods of cooking with the wok.
One of the worst Thai restaurant in San Diego. I wanted to like this place so bad and tried couple of times but don’t waste your money like I did. This 4+ star rating is very overrated.
The last straw was when we dinned in with group of four with one of our good Thai friend. All four of us agreed on one thing; worst Thai food we’ve ever eaten. What’s with all these 5 star reviews?? Never had real Thai food before? Overrated westernized fake Thai food is all you get here. With single use plastic plates and utensils to add more unwanted wastes. Such a waste in a great location.
Been to 55 Thai many times, prob my fave Thai spot in PB with Great service and very tasty food!
Normally I love the Tom yum noodle soup but the chef had a really heavy hand on the salt last night. The soup was really salty. In addition, the enamame we bought had about 2 tablespoons of salt on it for a little cup. I had to wipe off each pod with a napkin to wipe off all of the excess salt so it was edible.
Best Thai food in town 👍👍
Jessica and Natasha and the fellow in the kitchen were amazing!! The food here is great... But the customer service is EXCEPTIONAL. I'm definitely coming back and making this place a regular spot I get my food from.
Good amount of not bad food for the price. Staff was nice.
Food and atmosphere could have been better.
The fried rice was burnt and the odor was so strong that I couldn’t eat it.
Pretty good Thai food.
Best Thai in San Diego I’ve had, been here 6+ years. Really fresh, not greasy, super helpful staff. They called to make sure about a food avoidance and we’re very accommodating. Top marks.
I got the massaman chicken curry special wow I give it a 9/10
Good Thai food... Curry, noodles... It's Thai, Tasty! Large dining room, giant log tables which are beautiful. Log benches too so no leaning back. Kind of an eat n go place. Koi pond out front too. Has a Zen feeling to it.
This is one of my regular spots. Their food is consistently great and they’re very efficient. Love the pad Thai, Tom yum soup, and Tom kha soups.
Favorite Thai place in SD
Very disappointed with the service. Do you expect to dine in with paper plates and plastic disposable spoons 🙄? Yes, they served us like that. Totally disappointed👎.
Great tasting food, every time they never fail to deliver!
Really sweet staff here, beautiful big tables inside
I order takeout 1-2x a month from here and it's always very good. Large portions and friendly people
wow it's good today changing two stars to five.
Bad customer service. Food is not good
We liked the food!
Good price
Great service!
We will be back 😍
Good portions at a good price point. Food was delicious. Only wish the food was spicier. Other than that. Overall good vibes friendly staff and great food
Not bad not remarkable 🤷🏽♂️
Great Thai! Consistently good every time I've been. New location is a big open space with nice natural vibe.
Wishlist: More Curry options and Mango Sticky Rice
Mediocre Thai food. Don’t recommend.
They’re always friendly, and the food is good! I like the Thai boba and tom yum noodle!
Huge portions. Good for a quick lunch.
Visited here on Sunday. Disappointed they list hot tea on menu, but no longer offer it. I ordered spring rolls, and they weren't bad. Not crowded at all. Ate outside which was pleasant
Terrible customer service! Don’t dine here! Treat customers with zero respect and serve less than average food. 0/10
Great good. Vegan and vegetarian options available. Friendly staff. Class restaurant.
Fresh, delicious, consistently great Thai food. So happy to have stumbled upon 55 Thai and have been back repeatedly. Never disappoints. Staff is extremely friendly which is an added bonus!
I had Gai Tod & Tom Yum Noodles & both were delicious ! Excellent customer service. Ordered inside for "to go" wait time less than 10 minutes.
This is a great Thai restaurant. Only been once. Great vibe inside.
Beautiful atmosphere great food
I wasn't expecting to LOVE this place. Curry was so good and their Tom kha was yum. Will be going back weekly!
Bomb diggity
My favorite Thai food in San Diego! Fast, delicious, reasonably priced. Easy to order online. I love it!!!
Love the fresh Thai food like the Thai Chicken Salad. The Fried Rice with Shrimp is delicious! I love sitting by the Koy pond to watch the fish.
Great casual spot, good Thai food and good customer service.
Prices are great too!
terrible thai food. If you're drunk, you may not care, but if you quality thai, go ANY WHERE else.
the pad thai I ordered was only noodles sauce and chicken. booooring. I brought it to the managers attention and he saw no issues. "That's how it's prepared", he says. So I pull up dozens of pictures from yelp of the same dish that look very different. Proceeds to ask, "So what do you want then?" Take a wild guess, manager.
Got a refund and bought alcohol next door instead. No longer hungry.
Friendly staff. Delicious Thai Tea.
I was surprised about this restaurant. I was assuming it was like every other Thai restaurant where it a hole l in the wall joint with no decor. This place is nice with a friendly staff
Tofu was excellent. Had the Pad Thai it was as authentic as possible for PB. Would have over some sliced cucumber but failed ask. Maybe next time
Ordered pick up multiple times here and they do not disappoint! So good! You can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. Great portion size and super friendly staff! Highly recommend!
Found a great place. Love the Pad Thai and Drunkin' Noodles.
Excellent food, especially the Tom Kha and the fried chicken dish!
This place had a really great aesthetic to it and outdoorsy vibes, loved it. Except for the fact that you couldn’t dine in because of Covid restrictions. The girl that worked there recommended some really good and popular foods that locals buy and I got a pho soup with shrimp because I was craving a little seafood that was spicy but what I didn’t like is that it was sweet spicy and I didn’t like the sweet in it but other than that, the pho was phenomenal and had a exceptional flavor to it
Super good Thai place in PB. The Massaman curry is to die for! Portions and prices are also great! Strongly recommend.
Went today for lunch, it was so delicious. Service was great, food was fresh and flavorful. We sat outside and my 2 year old enjoyed watching the Koi fish. Will be back often!
Very reasonable prices delicious food
Great meal great service. Definitely one of my new favorites
The chicken was overcooked and had more veggies than noodles
Pass on this place, the fried rice came out mushy and pretty tasteless and the fried chicken I am quite sure were chicken gizzards. I also order the spring rolls and they were tastlesd with thick wrappings.
I had he masame chicken curry which came with side of white or brown rice. Very delicious and flavorful. A lot chicken and curry with few potato pieces for about $10. Very affordable option for Garnet street.
Below mediocre
Great food, simple menu, good prices, cool atmosphere. Definitely recommend.
Love the food here.
Especially Spicy Basil Chicken fried rice and Fired Chicken ( Appetizer )
Amazing food for great price
I love food
They add MSG into their food. I ordered a pad thai with beef and shrimp. The beef was not fresh and they were dry. There were only few shrimps. The taste was just okay.
This is one of my fav spots in pb their spring rules are the BEST especially with the sweet and sour sauce
inedible! I order a pad thai I guess can be spicy (not really sure) I didn’t ask for any spicy on it but my order was way too spicy I couldn’t even eat it (and I can handble some spicy) not even my boyfriend (he is into spicy) like it. No flavor but spicy. Very disappointed
great staff and really good food
Was looking for a quick, delicious spot to fulfill our craving for Thai food and 55 Thai Kitchen definitely scratched that itch. The Pad See Eew and Pad Thai were both spicy Hot as ordered and the delivery was quick.
Thank you!
Fantastic spot. The menu is clear and easy; the food is delicious with good portions; prices are good; spot is very nice to sit down and enjoy a good meal.
Such a warm and friendly atmosphere but the food I ordered trumps all Try it You’ll Love
Great quality and price! Best curry in PB.
Great atmosphere. The Massaman Chicken Curry was thai-riffic.
Good food; always fresh. When you ask for hot, it is!
Excellent and fresh.
The food is flavorful and cheap. Lots of vegetarian options. The fish I got in my meal was overcooked in parts and cold in others. They also use a lot of disposable and single-use plates/cutlery
Great Thai food
Amazing people with amazing food. Highly recommend
Had the chicken pad thai. It was surprisingly good. Friendly helpful staff.
Great food, large portions, and fun environment.
Limited menu but good. Slightly Americanized but the food is still pretty authentic and fresh
Great space and delicious food
Solid, inexpensive Thai food. Good quality for value. Go at a less busier time (lunch on weekdays) and you’ll get a better taste.
Wait times can be on the long side Thursday and Friday evenings. The canteen style makes it pretty loud when busy.
Not enough flavor as the one downtown. I was very upset because I was really excited they opened one in PB closer to me
Cool koi pond and living wall combo. Great chicken curry too.
Thai food for a western palette. Clean open atmosphere with friendly staff the restaurant satisfies for the price and taste.
Decided to give this new establishment a try for dinner tonight. I ordered the yellow curry with tofu, veggies and white rice while my partner ordered the number 25. Some fried meat dish with rice that came with a side bowl of broth. The food was excellent and I also ordered a Thai Iced Tea that was excellent. Their cups, cutlery, and containers say that they are compostable but we were eating in and would have appreciated reducing unnecessary waste (compostable or not) by utilizing restaurant owned dishes. We got something for our almost 2 year old from the kid's menu and the portion was a good size for the price. Bonus: our son loved his massaman chicken curry. I hope the owner reads this and takes note that neither restroom has a changing table for kids/babies and it's SO annoying. I know changing tables are only required in federal buildings but if new businesses want to promote community and family, then accomodations for families and community must be considered. Please consider installing changing tables in BOTH restrooms so families aren't forced out to their cars when a diaper change becomes necessary.
My new favorite Thai spot! The food was absolutely delicious, and the vibe and decor were lovely!
So good! Delicious food, big portions, and great price.
Pretty good fast Thai food. There is a lot of room inside. Good is pretty good but not that spicy
Good and quick
