Definitely a mixed review on this. It’s a referral from a friend for me to try this Thai restaurant. The foods is good and have many varieties of selections. Loved the traditional Thai flavors.
Only thing I really dislike is the service and the waiter getting my orders wrong. In addition, he charged me an extra items that I didn’t order.
I come here often during my lunch break. They have amazing lunch menu deals from 11-3pm Monday-Friday. I always receive the best and most friendly service from Apple. I highly recommend Sai Varee. The fresh rolls with peanut sauce are always delicious! I also love the green curry and pad thai.
The atmosphere is nice and cozy, however, the food we had was underwhelming. The mango curry had no color to it and it was sadly bland. You couldn't tell what the ingredients were (is this a potato, a mango, tofu?) due to how everything was the same color (minus the carrots). I also don't remember the mango curry having potato in it. It felt like the wrong curry was made and the chef hastily added mangoes to it.
I asked for Roti, but wanted to know how much roti was in a serving. We weren't given a clear answer, there may have been a languag barrier. I asked for three Roti and was given three servings. So us and the waitress didn't communicate clearly. We wanted pieces not servings. Three servings is a lot for two people.
The roti was incredibly oily. The flavor was oil. You can see in the photo how oily it was.
We felt like the waitress knew something was off because she looked sheepish and shy when she asked how everything was.
I was bummed the food was basically inedible, I've been here before and enjoyed it. Maybe they have a new chef? We went on a Thursday.
We ordered calamari rings, spicy chicken drunken noodles, duck pad se ew, spicy beef thai basil and spicy chicken Thai fried rice. None of the dishes were spicy to our Asian taste buds but everything was flavorful. Calamari rings were not fresh and were chewy. Do not order duck with pad se ew, it tasted off. Portions were large and lots of protein in the dishes. Food took quite a bit to arrive maybe ~45 min.
I recently visited Sai Varee Thai Cuisine in Sacramento, and I must say, I was blown away by the delicious food and excellent service. I ordered the Pad Thai, and it was easily one of the best I've had in a long time. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the portion size was generous.
But what really made my experience memorable was the amazing service from the manager, Pam. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to make sure our dining experience was perfect. From recommending other dishes to ensuring our food was served hot and fresh, Pam truly made our visit special.
Overall, I highly recommend Sai Varee Thai Cuisine to anyone in the Sacramento area looking for delicious food and excellent service. And if you're lucky enough to have Pam as your manager, you're in for a real treat!
Good was so good we didn’t have a chance to take a picture! I personally got the drunken noodles and it’s the best I’ve ever had! Service was incredible and food came out fast. My table of 6 needed to-go boxes and the waiter even added extra rice to several of our meals! I’ve been going here for 5+ years and they’re consistently amazing! Great portions too to add on top of that!

The Thai iced tea hear is the best I’ve ever had and the Satay Chicken is fantastic! I love to come regularly!
Great Thai food, reasonably priced and good service.
Absolutely delicious Thai food.

The gay merchand is so rude at the front
Pad Thai was delicious and a gigantic portion for the price. Staff was courteous too.
Love the green papaya salad!!
Good place for Thai food to go.
Portion sizes are really small for the price. food is too oily and the food was overcooked meat was tuff, noodles and vegetables were mushy, also the serving size is really small for the price they really are taking advantage of the covid price gouging.
Tasty, fresh food. Hospitality very welcome
The waitress Jay was very rude, did not acknowledge my table nor was he nice. However with a bigger party, he was super nice and welcoming. Never again!
This place has the best stick mango rice so far that I have found in my area.

Greenhaven Pocket Area
Always a Hit....Tasty Food Items...Friendly Staff.
Food is not good. Service was good. Drunken noodles were mushy and oily. The strands of the noodles are clumpy. Crab rangoons are undercooked. Waste of money, won’t be going back.
Clean, super flavored food, reasonable prices, very friendly service!
They pay very close attention to your dietary restrictions and have a wide variety of substitutions.
I love the red and green curries.
Terrible! I just waited and waited for someone to help me and maybe they have some type of problem with me personally or something, but didn’t acknowledge me when I stood there for my order for pick up! Amazing how customer service by these people could be so bad!!
We used to come here often. But they increased their price and reduced the amount of food so much.
This is a definite hidden gem in Greenhaven, located in the Promenade Shopping center on Rush River at Windbridge. I had the avocado curry. Spicy and creamy with chicken, shrimp and lots of veggies. My husband ordered the salmon fried rice. Everything is delicious. We also had a cucumber salad with a sweet dressing. The service was welcoming, friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is modern, clean and comfortable. We are definitely going back!
Oh and heads up: the portions are large.
I drove from far to get Their pineapple rice !!! Soooooo good!!! And service always great!
Me and my children were going to dine in like we have many times before but today there was a guy that was really rude before we even got seated. I will not be eating here anymore.
Have been coming here for years now. But lately, the price has been going through the roof while the portion is getting smaller and smaller. Time to find a new Thai restaurant...
Great experience
First ever thai restaurant that didn't have jasmine rice and served plain rice with no aroma, I even asked if they had jasmine rice and what they gave us was the only rice they had. Food was very underwhelming and not great at all. I wouldn't recommend it!
Always a staple in my neighborhood and never fails. Consistently delicious!
This was the best idea to stop here and eat! My family stopped in on our way home to Washington, on New Year's Eve, for lunch. We were so happy with all the food. We ordered mussamun Curry, mango curry, drunken noodles, tom kha, fried egg rolls, and crab Langoon. 10/10! Excellent service, the waiter was so funny. Very clean and friendly environment.
The food was very tasty. We got crab fried rice to go. They special made it with brown rice at our request. We enjoyed it very much.
Great Pad Thai!
Great food and service. The red and yellow curry were amazing. So was drunken noodles.
Very tasty vegetarian options. Will go back.
This is the best Thai food I have had in Sacramento. The food is fresh, and actually spicy. I have travelled to Thailand and this place is the most similar that I have had in comparison.
Highly recommend!
I've ordered The Thai fried rice from this establishment four times. Every time I ask for thai chili paste on side they never provide it with my to-go order via doordash. Once again, I ordered Thai fried rice and ask again for the chili paste on the side, and praying and hoping and believing they would add the sauce on side ...but this time they decided to put a ton of chili flakes on the actual food making it unbearable to eat. Was that your way of thinking I wanted it's spicy so much that I couldn't even eat it?
I will never order that dish from this establishment again.
It shouldn't be that challenging to provide chili paste on the side, and certainly should not be adding an intolerable amount of chili flakes in lieu of the sauce.
I hope you learn from this.
Staff (front & back of house) is very friendly and skilled
It's good food at decent prices
Great service
The food was really good. The service was excellent!
Title: Mixed Experience at Sai Varee Thai Food
I recently had the chance to dine in at Sai Varee Thai Food after falling in love with their basil fried rice through a delivery service. While I was excited to try their food in-person, my experience turned out to be quite mixed.
On the positive side, the spicy chicken I ordered was absolutely delicious. It had just the right amount of kick and flavor that I had enjoyed during my previous Uber Eats orders. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the basil fried rice I ordered during my visit. It seemed to fall short of the mark, perhaps due to miscommunication or a misunderstanding of my preferences.
However, what truly overshadowed my dining experience was the service I received from the server. I felt rushed and uncomfortable throughout my meal. The server seemed impatient and didn't provide me with the kind of attentive service one would hope for when dining in. To make matters worse, I wasn't even offered a drink menu, which left me feeling overlooked and disregarded.
It was evident that the restaurant was quite busy, and while I understand that being busy can be challenging for any establishment, it shouldn't result in a compromised dining experience for any customer. Regardless of whether one dines alone or with a group, every customer deserves the same level of respect and attention from the staff.
I couldn't help but feel that my presence as a solo diner was somehow treated differently, as if I didn't matter as much as other patrons. Discrimination or not, this kind of treatment is a major deterrent for me when considering whether to return to a restaurant.
I hope that Sai Varee Thai Food takes this feedback constructively. The potential is there for an excellent dining experience, with great food and a welcoming atmosphere. It's crucial for the management to ensure that their servers are well-trained and capable of providing exceptional service to every customer, regardless of their background or dining preferences.
In conclusion, my recent visit to Sai Varee Thai Food was a mixed bag. While the food had its highlights, the disappointing service overshadowed my overall impression. I truly hope that the management takes steps to address these concerns and works towards creating a more inclusive and enjoyable dining experience for all customers.
Tried this place with a few friends. Not one of us finished our food. Every noodle dish was sweet where it shouldn't have been and overall left a bad taste.
The pumpkin curry was delicious. The cashew chicken was pretty good, but I was shocked that it had been peppered after cooking, and not during.
Stupid good. Get the potato cakes
The restaurant was mostly empty and service was very slow. We changed it to a to go order and with an attitude we were told we should have called ahead
The seafood special was really good and is my favorite dish - get it spicy, but the capers probably aren't for everyone so maybe treat them as a garnish. I enjoyed all the appetizers - my party particularly loved the coconut shrimp and the chicken wings. Very good calamari and I also recommend the curries. Ask for extra spice if you like spicy food!
Good service and food.
Been coming here for years. Excellent food and service. I especially love their curries. The massaman curry is my favorite. I also love their coconut soup and their stir fried. Really you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Even the fried bananas with ice cream is so refreshing.
Great food and wonderful service!
Placed a Doordash order, wanting to try a new Thai restaurant. No issues with the delivery, only the food.
I love pumpkin curry, and always order it if a Thai restaurant has it on their menu.
The pumpkin curry is watery and bland, with a weird sour taste that makes me not want to finish my meal, along with pieces of shrimp shell in the curry.
The shrimp has a strong fishy taste.
The amount of rice I received was also not enough in proportion to the amount of curry.
Very disappointing experience, and cannot recommend.
DON'T GO HERE IF YOU'RE A VEGETARIAN!!!!
Poor service. I’m a vegetarian and went with a friend (who eats meat)and they declined to accommodate my request for using no fish sauce in my dish. Asked for basil fried rice (see attached pic) without the fish/oyster sauce and the server Jay said they can’t make it without. Have been to many Thai places and they always accommodate. Will not return!!!!
The Papaya salad was excellent along with the drunk noodles. The wine serving was very generous which totally surprised me. Our waitress was cheerful and very friendly.

Terrible customer service. The female waitress is very rude!
Food is okay.
Tried this place a few times food is always excellent
The waiter was great and spicy is really spicy
Absolutely amazing food. Great service as well. Would definitely come here again
Rude customer service on Saturday night.
This is my favorite Thai restaurant -- food is very fresh and with authentic seasonings -- family and i usually dine at lunchtime 😋 My 1st somewhat unpleasant experience:
Restaurant was staffed with only 1 server for 10 dine-in customers 😖 The 2 of us were greeted and sat down at the table. It took 10 minutes for us to receive cups of water and to have our order taken. I truly felt badly for the server -- he is taking phone orders while cleaning up tables/serving dishes. He seemed stressed indeed. . .we chose to change our order to "Take Out'! Still, it took another 30 minutes for our 3-Entree order after he served Dining patrons and gave out phone To-Go orders.
REALLY? This is a popular Thai restaurant and you only have 1 server at Dinnertime? We ordered Pad Thai Beef, Thai fried rice w/beef, and Cashew Nut Chicken. One note -- the beef was chewy; otherwise, the dishes were all very tasty! Server was apologetic and smiled as we left. I will continue to drive 45 minutes to enjoy the Best Thai food here -- but, at Lunchtime/LOL🤣
The food here is so good. I've only ordered take out. They are very helpful. I asked for recommendations and they gave me 6 additional dishes to try. My new favorite is the spicy eggplant. It feels like incredible comfort food!
My pad see ew tasted like tap water and the guy that helped me was short and unfriendly :/
I've been in Sacramento for 8 years now and this is by far the friendliest and best tasting Thai food. Highly recommend dining in and enjoying the food.
Food and staff here is the ABSOLUTE best. I have never had a bad time socializing with the staff. Its a whole comedy show with them. The food is just finger licking good. I can't get enough of anything I have. Just BOMB 💣
Five stars for the pad thai alone. You all do a great job, looking forward to trying more of the menu
We ordered calamari rings, spicy chicken drunken noodles, duck pad se ew, spicy beef thai basil and spicy chicken Thai fried rice. Delicious dinners and friendly service. Jay Jay and the team are fantastic! Try the coconut shrimp, crab Rangoon and cashew nut chicken!!
Great lunch!
This restaurant is my #1 place to eat! Great food, friendly service and tasty. I highly recommend Sae Varee for your Thai food cravings.
Ordered fresh roll to go when I got home the casing had broken and tofu , vegetables weren't wrapped
Food is good here. They need more help though. Service is slow.
One of my very favorite Thai restaurants in Sacramento 👍👍
Very tasty food. Excellent service
The staff are always very friendly and they have the best yellow curry I've ever had. I have a few friends that demand we eat here every time I see them
Best Thai food in sac area it’s actually owned by Thai and the food reflects that
Will definitely miss this place!
I LOVE this place💕 My favorite local Thai restaurant. We’ve been coming here for 4 years and have always had amazing service! The chicken wings, pad thai, fried rice, duck and wonton are delicious. I would highly recommend takeout or sit in dining both great👍 The wonton is my favvv
Very nice
Not sure how this place got such high reviews but I have definitely tasted much better Thai dishes in El Dorado Hills and Folsom. One of our dishes tasted like it was on the verge of spoiling and the drunken noodle dish tasted like old ingredients were used. It is slightly less expensive than Thai Paradise but that’s bc they serve your dishes come with rice so your actual entree portion is small. Sorry, cannot recommend this place and really question the positive reviews.
This place has seriously delicious food
Delicious food and amazing service. Will return again!
I have only had wonderful service and amazing food here. I love it every time!
This is my local go-to for Thai food. They are quick and tasty.
A lovely Thai restaurant with all the traditional fixings. Their chicken wings and salad were very tasty. Left feeling full. The pad thai I took home in a doggy bag didn't make it through the night. Their Thai tea is good if you like it on the sweet side. A nice neighborhood Thai spot where they can cater the spice levels for you.
Best Roasted duck I've ever had in my life. I can't wait to go back
Wow, what a shame. Had lunch here, ordered the Pumpkin curry and first dish had 2 hairs in it. Told the waiter, asked for a new plate. The 2nd dish still had hairs in it. Just wow. Asked to speak to the manager or owner and a lady comes out and she is wearing a winter furry hat. No wonder hairs are in the food!!! Will not be back!!
We've been here countless times. I've probably tried at least half of the menu. The curry is really their best dish and what we always come back for. Delicious and well priced! The owners are very kind!
Friendly server and food is really good.
Very friendly staff and delicious food! I ordered the cream cheese crab wontons, chicken pad thai and chicken fried rice, everything was amazing.
Yummy Thom Kah soup & pineapple fried rice to go. Super friendly staff!
I order two beef pad Thai and it was the worst pad Thai I have ever had. It tasted burnt and we had tofu and beef added in our pad Thai. We were highly disappointed and threw it out.
Loved, loved, loved. Did I say loved. The yellow curry was better than what I had in Thailand. First time there but definitely not last time.
Everything is cooked fresh to order. Very friendly staff
I am surprised at the positive reviews. My experience was meh. Dry chicken, bland curry, oily awful roti. New owners perhaps? Three stars because it was relatively cheap.
One of our favorite Thai restaurants! We've lived all around the world as a military family and always look forward to visiting Sai Varee for takeout every time we visit our parents in Sacramento. The Panang curry, mango curry, massaman, and avocado curry are all amazing! Love the Tom Yum soup too!
Great food! Great place to go for lunch.
The food was good, but they forget to bring me my meal until the end. I would go again.
Food is great service was exceptional
delicious crispy pork bellies
amazing later puff
super friendly and attentive staff
and even 2.50 beers 11am-4pm!
We love the yellow curry with chicken!! Customer service is stellar!!
The food is delicious. Try the drunken noodle, yum. Always very friendly when I pick up food.
Food is good. You gotta try the beef drunken noodles, yellow curry chicken and mango sticky rice. Somehow there's an old rice smell on my mango dessert this time, but it's usually really good.
Very rude front desk guy. Good food bad service...
Nice staff and great thai food!
Delicious. Friendly people and quick service
I dare u to find a better Thai Food place in Pocket. They've been constantly great since day 1. Bomb delicious food!
very friendly staff and tasty oileng!
This place is realy good, great service, good fresh food(mild to hella spicy options) , cold beer;(happyhr is like 1100hrs-1600hrs $2.50 beer n wine) lots of vegetarian stuff but you can add meat I think to anything. So great chill place to get some Thai food.
This is my new favorite date night spot. Order the angel wings!!
The chicken yellow curry was amazing! Very friendly service, and good lunch prices.
Love this staff and the yellow curry is sloop good, I always get it very spicy for myself
Excellent Thai food!
Great location good food great for lunch
Always great food!
Absolutely delicious 😋
Great restaurant to fix my Thai needs. The food is great. We enjoy their delicious curries, red, green, yellow, mango curries. The pad thai is also great. Their angel wings is delicious and so you should try it too.
Good
Very good Thai food. Attentive service.
Nice small neighborhood style restaurant. The staff were pleasant and the food was good and reasonably priced.
Loved this place. I am very picky. I want great tasting fresh food with a nice ambience and friendly helpfull wait staff. They had it all and the price point was very reasonable for the quality. So far in my search for good Asian food. this is the BEST by far in Sacramento. Thank you Sai Varee for a great meal that impressed my guest as well as me.
Don’t order the beef if you value your teeth and jaw muscles.
Atmosphere and food was delightful. Will be eating here again.
Very good seafood plate
Environment is calm and the people are friendly, they have a bar and the music is jazzy. Everyone is enjoying the moment.
Good food here will eat there again
Excellent food and service. I would definitely recommend to all friends.
Good service and good food
First time I ever been there but I really like the food I like the feel of the place am I really enjoy the input that waiter help me with picking out the mail that I had that day very good place I will go again
Okay, wow!!! I am so sorry I waited so long to try this place. It's literally 5 mins from my house and I've been driving 15 mins to a different Thai restaurant this whole time. Not anymore. New favorite Thai spot!
Thai food at its best!
I had a really awesome spicy curry here! Food was great and the staff was really nice.
