Ruen Thai is quite possibly my favorite Thai food I’ve had outside of Thailand/Asia!
(This is saying something because I’ve been to A LOT of Thai food restaurants as it’s my favorite cuisine.)
The chicken Panang Curry was fresh and flavorful, and the mango coconut sticky rice was insanely delicious. Presentation of both dishes were beautiful (see photos below). If you’re deciding on Thai food in Sacramento- go here! The service is friendly and quick, and prices are reasonable also.

I love this place. The girls know my order every time I call. The food is amazing. My favorite order is Kow Pad Kra Pow. Basil fried rice with chicken. And Thai tea. Don’t skip the Thai tea it’s the best and I love when they add the flower to my straw. I feel spoiled every time.

So happy we stopped here on our way up to Tahoe! It is a family run establishment that has been in business for 20 years. The restaurant is clean and quiet. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The staff is so friendly and kind! We will definitely be back!

I ordered the Rad Nar with chicken. The noodles were not pan fried, they were sitting the flavorless sauce all clumped together. The chicken also pretty flavorless. Not worth $18. I couldn’t eat it. I’ve had this at other Thai restaurants and even if not spicy it is not this bland. Husbands curry was good.

Love the food here, everything’s to our liking!!! Big serving that’s great for sharing! We ordered 3 meals, one for each, added one appetizer and we ended up bringing home half of everything for dinner! Servers were friendly, too!

My partner and I stopped in for lunch while in the area and were not disappointed! Our server was very sweet and friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. I had the avocado green curry based on positive reviews, wondering if avocado would even be good in a curry, but it was wonderful. My partner got the crab friend rice, and they didn’t skimp! It came with a huge heap of sweet caramelized crab meat. The portion sizes were good for almost 3 meals, which made the prices extremely reasonable. I may drive out from Natomas just to eat here in the future.

They always tell how long it takes for to-go orders, and it's usually quicker than specified. I'm not too keen on atmosphere since I don't dine in, but it's always full! They do special orders, which I get all the time, and they remember it!

I had to cancel an order today after waiting for 42 minutes . because of a short and rude lady work inside this restaurant.

Delerium beer with Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodle) main. Get the chicken satay or potstickers to start. The green and pumpkin curries are also a great choice.

Pad Thai, to go, was dry. I wondered if they forgot to put sauce on. I think it would have been good with some kind of sauce.

Service was outstanding. The food was very good and if you can handle spicy, Thai spicy is, well, spicy. The food also came out very fast.

We had a wonderful experience here for lunch during our road trip! We had a toddler and a baby, and the waitresses were so fast, efficient, and helpful. The avocado green curry, pad see ew, and khao soi were all delicious. They have high chairs but no changing tables. Great value, would definitely recommend especially for families.

This place is great! Dishes are always fresh, tasty, and good portion size. First time trying the crab fried rice. It was amazing! We also love the tom kha soup. Everything we’ve tried here is always delicious.

We ordered delivery with Door Dash and were super impressed by both the portion sizes and the flavor. Pad see ew used the yummy extra wide noodles, and the curries (yellow and green) were both fantastic. We finished with the mango sticky rice which was perfectly cooked. Looks like we have our new fave Thai spot!

We went at 6pm on a Wednesday and were not disappointed. Not crowded or noisy like other local Thai restaurants with loud music blarring everywhere. Great atmosphere.
Got a great quiet table in a confer of the room. Excellent attentive service. Wonderfully delicious dishes served hot and fresh. Definitely going back! 🌟

this is a truly exceptional Thai restaurant. I travel around the country every week and sampled Thai restaurants from Anchorage, Alaska to Miami Florida. This is the best! Enjoyed their Tom Kah soup, Pad Si Ew, and Mango with sweet sticky rice.
They truly go the extra mile with food quality and service at a very reasonable price.

Allergies: I can easily and safely eat peanut and gluten-free. Friendly staff remembers my usual(s) and remembers the extra sauces I like with takeout orders.

I would definitely recommend coming here, I’ve ordered here many times, to go and eat in and the restaurant staff are always very attentive and friendly. The food is always hot and the portions are big, and I always have left overs.

I ate here for the first time on Friday, May 10th and me and my spouse became gravely illl from the appetizer ordered. This restaurant has unsafe sanitary practices. My spouse called and advised we were I'll from our dinner and they had no empathy and did not care. I will never eat here again. I will discourage friends and family from dining here.

This is my go to Thai restaurant. I've been coming here weekly for almost two years, and am never disappointed. My go-to's are pad thai, red curry, and drunken noodles, but I have tried many other items and they are all delicious!

This is the 1st Thai restaurant in 16 years that I can actually say I love! We moved from Denver, away from my favorite Thai restaurant, about 16 years ago. I’ve never found another restaurant that comes close to it, until eating at Ruen Thai. We have been a few times in just 2 weeks since discovering it. I get the fried veggie spring roll every time we go! If you like fried spring rolls, theirs are so fresh… crisp… delicious.. addicting!! We have also had the potstickers, massaman curry, the mango curry, and the pad Thai, as well jasmine and brown rice, all numerous times. I always want to try the mango coconut sticky rice, but am always incredibly satiated by the end of dinner! The portion sizes are big enough to share with another person, unless you have a BIG appetite!! I brought my leftovers home each time and just the 1 portion feeds me multiple times!! So it’s a great value when you consider how much food you’re getting. Service is always great, they are always very kind and attentive!! I can’t wait to go back!

The khao soy dish is an incredible blend of textures and flavors with the crunchy noodles, curry sauce, and perfectly cooked vegetables. Highly recommend, can't wait to go back!

Love the authentic feeling of a Thai restaurant when I walked in. Service was awesome. Presentation of all the foods that came out was beautiful. The peanut salad was delicious, but other then that most of the dishes came out was lacking in flavor. Glass noodles with black mushrooms, ground chicken & cabbage soup were kind of boring. Glass noodles were a tab undercooked. 1 to 2 minutes longer would have been perfect. The curry dish was ok, but the portion was too small. Fired eggrolls was mostly just fry wrap, barely any in it. Larb was not what I expected. There was no roasted rice & was overcooked. They added an extra ingredient that doesn't go well with traditional larb supposed to taste like. Steam rice was super dry & undercooked. If this is your first time trying out Thai foods, this is the place to go. But if you're expecting traditional Thai foods with authentic favor....this isn't the place.

Great Thai food, super accommodating and friendly service. Portions are huge, the curry has easily two bowls worth of rice and a mountain of meat.

This Thai spot is absolutely amazing! It would be dangerous for me to live in such close proximity to it. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with such kindness and lovely smiles. The menu had a lot of great options for all different diet choices. I ordered the red pumpkin curry and received a huge delicious bowl of some of the best curry ever with a lot of yummy veggies. My buddy enjoyed his duck curry. The mango sticky rice was also very yummy! I highly recommend and I’m so beyond excited to eat my leftovers today.

Their drunken noodles were great just a lot of onions. The curry was not the best, was very watery and lacked some flavor.

This is my go-to place for "spring rolls and spring rolls alone" nights! They've got some different options than your regular Thai places such as mango fresh rolls that are super tasty! The tofu ones aren't really my favorite as they use a big ol' slab of it and it was a bit too spongy for me, but their fried rolls are delicious as well at the chicken satay. Get that peanut sauce too, it's awesome!

Their entrées are just okay. As others have said the seasonings are just a little bland sometimes. Our first orders of Pad Thai and pineapple fried rice were pretty good, but the second time they were super bland and greasy even with the mild spice. We literally added more fish sauce and lime at home to make them taste a bit better, but generally we go elsewhere for those Pad Thai cravings.

The people who work here are very friendly and are always pleasant even though we just get take out. You can really tell they're putting a lot of effort into making this a great place to go which is lovely!

First time eating here and definitely not the last! The hubs and I decided to give this place a go. Very good food and very good service! Hubs had pad thai and it did not disappoint! They have adjustable spice levels and not wimpy hot. The hubs likes thai hot. It was perfect. We'll be back for sure!

Sorry but despite how good everything looked the flavors were just not there. Not spicy at all, they didn't even ask how spicy they should prepare. Every dish seemed to be missing something..fish sauce, lemon grass, galangal? They were generous with the protein though. I'll keep looking for a local favorite Thai place.

Pros: Great service, helpful server, nice portion size, like the decor.

Cons: Didn't really hit that addicting Thai food experience I was hoping for, and if it matters to you the bathroom was ridden hard and put away wet (floor was nasty, walls have some kind of chunkage sprayed on it in parts, light fixture was missing — but hey you didn't go here for the bathroom experience.)

Went for lunch on a Saturday around 12:30. The server was friendly and helpful and we ordered Chicken Pad Thai, Pork Drunken Noodle, and I think some kind of beef/vegetable stir fry?

The Chicken Pad Thai was sweet and greasy, maybe had one green onion on the plate and didn't have cilantro or lime wedges. Flavor was ok but definitely was missing those side items. We did ask for some lime wedges on the side and that helped a bit.

The Pork Drunken Noodles was greasy and ok on flavor. The pork was chopped up so fine that it got lost in the mushy noodles. It also was a bit salty but that might be from the pork. Perhaps the chicken version of this would solve the issue.

Would I go back? No. Maybe if I was meeting some friends there and in that case I would for sure check out the other menu items like maybe try a curry or soup.

This place is usually on point but my take out the other night was a miss. The flavor of my pa-nang curry was good but the veggies were murdered, not edible, and I had to filter through it. It's still a 4 because it's usually great food and friendly staff. We'll still be back. Oh...and it's getting expensive too! $39 for two Currys and one box rice. Yikes

Love Ruen Thai. The food is Great and the service too. Their menu is reasonably priced. Always a positive experience whether eating in or for take out. Their Curries and Soups are fabulous. You can always customize mostly all the food...(haven't had a chance to try all their dishes..as I do have some favorites). Try it I am sure you'll enjoy it. B

The thai tea and thai coffee were great! ....unfortunately that's the only thing I enjoyed. If you're an Asian looking for Thai food, I'd skip this place.

The green curry had a very strong taste of fish sauce. Also a strong coconut milk but I like coconut milk so that did not bother me too much. Could not taste much else. Very little spice.

The peanut sauce for pra ram did not taste like peanuts. I can't pin point what the taste is, but not that great. The vegetables were also stale - I brought leftovers home and the following morning the pra ram dish has already gone sour.

The stir fry dish had chicken and a variety of vegetables but very strong salty and soy sauce taste.

The tom yum soup was not sour, very mildly sweet. Not at all like how I know the soup.

I will say though that the customer service was good. There is no fault there.

The service at Ruen Thai has always been nothing shy of amazing! Everyone is friendly and attentive. The food is phenomenal! Delicious every time! Whether you like spring rolls with pork and shrimp, rice plates, egg noodle/rice noodle dishes, curry or even sandwiches and salads, they have something you will thoroughly enjoy! This is the best Thai food restaurant! Take out never fails us either. If we need to call in an order for pick up, they are fast and the food remains hot and delicious as if we were enjoying it straight from the kitchen. Take out orders are usually ready in about 20 to 25 minutes. If you haven't tried Ruen Thai, you are missing out on some truly great food!

Far and away my favorite Thai spot in town, I'll happily go 20 minutes out of my way for Ruen. Yellow Mango and Khao Soi are particularly good. Service is friendly and their selection of beer (Allagash? Delirium??) is kind of incredible.

1st time there. Went for lunch. Service was prompt. Got our drinks and ordered. I had chicken with cashews and white rice, gravy. Sooo delicious. Service was fast. Food was hot. I definitely go back again!

We regularly dine at this restaurant because of the flavorful fresh food, nice atmosphere, excellent service and reasonable prices. Tom Kha Gai soup is amazing.

I had one of their specials, the salmon panang curry. I really enjoyed it. Its a salmon fillet with bell pepper and carrots with a red curry coconut sauce. It comes with a vegetable and a bowl of rice. The ambiance is perfect and service prompt and courteous. I will be back.

Ruen Thai Restaurant has some amazing Thai food, the best that we have ever had! I ordered #64 the Rad Nar Mee Krob, and # 43 Pa-Nang Curry. The meals were so delicious, and the portions were large, enough to fill up me and my wife and have leftovers. The servers are very kind, and the atmosphere has that small "hole in the wall" feel that we like.

visiting from the bay area and craving Thai cuisine we found this gem in Rocklin , great service, good ambiance, good portions, with fresh ingredients that exploded with flavor.

Ruen Thai ruined our Thai. Maybe it was just an off night, but we ordered two curries and there was something really wrong with them. We are pretty sure the oil used was rancid. My partner is a cook and has a pretty good sense of these things. They made us both feel sick as well as tasting awful. Worst Thai food I've ever had. The fresh rolls and peanut sauce were good though. But I can't give a better rating to something that made me ill and I couldn't finish eating.

This was probably one of the best Thai restaurants we've eaten at in a while. Everything had a great depth of flavor that's worth returning for. The portions were also pretty generous - I think everyone around us left with some leftovers.

Only major note to consider: the dishes were spicier than I expected. On their 1 - 4 hotness scale, I chose a 2, and it definitely had a kick. Still delicious, but more than expected based on my experience with other Thai restaurants. Pay attention to the description on their scale and make decisions accordingly.

Came in on a Monday afternoon with my friend and were immediately seated. We ordered in a few minutes and the food came out after about 8-15 minutes. We ordered the pad thai, drunken noodles, fried rice, and potstickers. This could have fed a family of 4-5 so between the both of us, we didn't not even come close to finishing because of how huge the portions are. For $14 a plate, it was more than worth it! Everything was so good and I was sad to be full, but am also excited to eat ne leftovers later 😋

Delicious food and great service! We stopped here for Thai food on a weekend getaway. The fresh rolls with shrimp were among the best I've had. Will absolutely eat here again.
