I feel like this place would be a lot more popular if it was in a better location. A really nice restaurant offering a large selection of Japanese and Thai food. I only tried the sushi omakase and it was quite good. Good quality and presentation, with all sorts of different fish. Reasonably priced too, great spot for families and groups.

the salmon sashimi was not very good, odd texture (chewy, not fall apart like traditional sashimi) and flavor. Duck bao was also rather one dimensional and dry. Such great service and the noodle dishes at this joint are the star! We also got the Street Noodle and Kee-Mowl and was tasty

We have been coming here for 4+ years, had my first date here with my partner. Very causal place but some of the best sashimi, sushi ever! You must have their ceviche, it’s absolutely delectable, the best Asian inspired ceviche I have ever had! The customer service is a big factor for my rating, the servers are customer service top tier, their service and food is always consistent! We visit here once a week, it’s that delicious, $200 for amazing cuts is a bargain. Just posting this makes my mouth water…😉

The wait time was quite long, around 50 minutes, despite the restaurant being relatively empty. Additionally, I found the quality of the food and sushi to be below expectations. I found GAS Station Sushi much better than the sushi offered in this restaurant.

The staff is wonderful. Lily is one of the loveliest people around - I always look forward to chatting with her when picking up takeout or dining in. Oba is awesome. The food is great and everyone that works here is super nice and friendly. The fish is all very good. I really like their preparation of certain sushi like the Aji and the Tai. I like the combinations of flavors and textures they use in some of their rolls that just pair really well. Definitely one of my favorite sushi places in California

Great spot for a casual meal or for a date. Really fresh food, perfectly seasoned. Our orders all day a great mix of savory, spicy, sweet, and salty. Servers were kind and attentive. So much to choose from! Would highly recommend.

השירות היה מדהים, צוות המלצרים והמארחת נהדרים נותנים שירות אדיב. הזמנתי סושי פשוט דג סלמון ואבוקדו. קיבלתי במקום דג סלמון אבוקדו ומלפפון, הרולים היו מרושלים והתפרקו כמות הדג הייתה קטנה ממה שצריך והכי גרוע האורז היה בוץ, רך מידי , היה חסר חומץ אורז , פשוט הסושי הכי פחות טעים שאכלתי , אם אפשר לקרוא לזה בכלל סושי. ובנוסף מ כל רול עלה 12 דולר שזה מוגזם גם לרול טוב. פשוט אכזבה גדולה.

Pretty busy. Food was good. Very nice, friendly people. Kind of a fusion of Thai and sushi. Huge menu.

I really liked the generous serving of Thai iced tea! The calamari was delicious! The sushi roll and noodle dish I tried were also delicious. Glad I tried this izakaya, such a cute spot with great service.

We came for dinner at 6pm, ordered within 5 min and didn’t get our first dish until almost an hour later, the rest of the dish came really slow as well. The wait is way too long for adults let alone that we have two kids under 4 with us. The food was ok at best. Miso cod doesn’t have any miso taste, it’s pretty much dipped in teriyaki sauce. Yellowtail kama is fresh but doesn’t have any seasoning on it. Also, although the name has izakaya in it, they don’t have a lot of skewers. The chicken yakitori uses chicken breast so it’s pretty dry even though it’s also soaked in teriyaki sauce.

The food here is solid. It's a VERY tasty Asian Fusion/Asian Tapas spot in area of Pasadena that is a bit sparse on food options.
I recommend 2 dishes:

1- "The Crispy Pork Yum" is pretty amazing. It is all there in the name. It's Crsipy, its porky and...well, its yummy.
The pork deep fried light and crispy then served in a mixture or light fish sauce and vinegar with thinly sliced onion, cherry tomatoes and cucumber slices tossed in the mix.
I always order the sauce spicy and definitely on the side so the pork remains crsipy.
This dish is bright and acidic

2. Eggplant in Miso paste.
They take asian eggplant, peel the skin off and then sautee it in a savoy Miso paste. It is VERY simple and so tastey. Sometimes, I'll just eat this and a bowl of sticky rice and be super satisfied!
This dish is savory yet mild.

This evening I started off with a bowl of miso soup then I had the pork, the eggplant and rice.
The acidity and brightness of the pork was nicely paired with the mild, yet savory taste of the eggplant. It goes so well with the sticky rice.

It was a perfect amount of food. I was totally satiated and not feeling stuffed.

Low 4 star rating.

First time back during the pandemic. Finally ate inside and we loved it. Mark was our server. Great service and knowledge of the menu. Good food is better with great table service. Thank you kitchen and thank you Mark!!!!

Came here for the izakaya and was sorely disappointed. Think there were only two options for skewers and the chicken that came had no flavor and fake grill marks on it. Raw fish seems ok but everyone was overpriced and underwhelming. We spent $70 and left hungry, never patronizing again even if free.

Oba is a Thai restaurant that happens to also serve sushi. The Thai menu is better than the Sushi offerings. Service is courteous but not exactly prompt.

I struggled for years to find the best sushi in Pasadena, and that is because I was looking at all the places near Colorado Blvd. Off the beaten path is where you'll find what I'm talking about.

This place is a classy slice of heaven. Great customer service, decent prices, and top quality food. You"ll feel pampered as you enjoy wonderous flavors. Menu has Vegan options.

Great little neighborhood sushi place. Fish is fresh and selection is good. They do run out of daily premium fish selections early in the evening on busy nights. Staff are extremely attentive and cordial. As a bonus they do have a liquor selection to complement the beer and sake list.

The flavors were incredible but definitely not somewhere I'd go again any time soon. And prices were high.

Yum!! Great sushi and a great place for vegetarians. They have a sweet potato roll that is super tasty! This place is a bit pricey but overall great.

Ranging from traditional Japanese cuisine and simpler meals for unseasoned tongues, it is a fit for anyone who tries. Fully recommend, 10/10!!

Tasty sushi! The flavor and quality was fantastic, but if I were to be picky (and I am a picky sushi eater) I would say the way they cut the fish could be "cleaner". Very close to traditional though! Ordered Nigiri only: salmon belly sushi, ikura, snapper, sweet shrimp (yumm!!) And a hand roll. Hit the spot perfectly.

I used to like it more when the sushi bar was in the other restaurant a few doors south. It's taking a little time to grow on me but the new sushi bar and the new menu is really exciting. And they have Asahi beer on tap, that kicks ass.

My impression is that they are a little heavy handed with the sauces and the food didn't taste as fresh as I would want. The shiso leaf, cucumber & ume sushi was fine, but a little more rice would have balanced the ume. The tempura batter was not as light as it should be and the string beans were cooked well but a little too much sweet chili paste was used. The miso cod definitely had the texture of fish that was previously frozen. Based on that I would be hesitant to order sushi. However the prices are decent and I would come back to try more from the izakaya menu. The service was great and the staff was sweet.

What's going on here the sushi is a mystery. I hope they get it together.

Great place for sushi. They are family friendly. Seems like a lot of parents bring their kids here for dinner. I wouldn't recommend their spicy tuna on crispy rice -- the rice is deep fried.

Was there for a quick lunch. Nice place. But when a saw the menu most all the suchi rolls have Mayo. Not a fan of mayo in my suchi.
