We are a modern Thai fusion fast-casual restaurant. At White Elephant, we offer a fun modern exploration on the iconic, bold and mouth-watering flavors of Thailand. Carefully crafted into delicious, health focused plates and made with natural, high quality ingredients.
The menu includes the typical Thai dishe with a variety of spice levels from 1-5 you could choose. I attended the restaurant from the Time Left app suggestion. (Time Left is a dinner app that sets you up with 5 strangers. It's not some end of life thing) we had pad see yew, drunken noodles, fries rice, yellow curry and the mango sweet rice. It was very good. I had a lovely night.
The Atmosphere, the aesthetic, the food… WOW. Honestly not a fan of being downtown; but this place takes you out of downtown being inside of it. Quality taste, quality service. Was filming downtown and needed food after the shoot. Very accommodating staff and chefs were amazing.
I usually order from here delivery. However I went there to dine. Unfortunately I thought it was slightly over priced for what we got.
We had Basil fried rice and the chicken fried rice, salad and wings. Total including their own added gratuity 100.78. The food is good but overpriced in all honesty.
I thought that was slightly a bit much. Would I done in again absolutely not. The chairs were super uncomfortable. If you have back issues you might wanna pass dining in.
Food was prepared nicely.
The food was amazing! The curries and rice were our favorite, while the noodles were okay. The textures, flavors, and quantities were all perfect. It's definitely worth the price and it will go again if we're around DTLA. The noise was a tad high inside but there's seating just outside, in the walkway of the building.
Our family took a little day trip to downtown LA so we stopped by to try White Elephant in the Spring Arcade building. Parking was a little crazy that day because there was a cycling event going on, but we were able to find a spot a few blocks down and enjoy a stroll.
We were greeted and seated right away, and the staff were so attentive in answering our questions about the menu and making recommendations.
We love how they take traditional Thai flavors and add a modern twist, creating unique and beautiful dishes that delight the palate.
We tried:
Truffle Ong Potato Confit
Enoki Mushroom Crisps
Papaya Salad
Panang Curry w/ Pork Belly
Drunken Noodles w/ Seafood
Coconut Fried Chicken w/ Crispy Kale
Fried Ice Cream
Longan Juice
Ube Thai Coffee
Sweet Cream Green Tea
We absolutely loved everything we tried! We got it all at a medium level spice, and we were very happy with the flavor explosion in each dish.
My favorite was the non-spicy coconut fried chicken - the crunch and flavor of the batter, combined with the modern twist of the kale with goat cheese salad...🤤 I would definitely go back for this. And you don't wanna pass up the Ong Potato Confit either- you won't find this anywhere else!
This was some of the best Thai I have had in awhile. I ordered the drunken noodle with shrimp gluten free spice level 2 based off the server’s recommendation and a cucumber lemonade. It was very good. Just the right amount of spice. The only thing i wish they had was appetizers that were gluten free.

food was surprisingly delicious!
Everything we ordered was delicious 😊
Went based on other reviews. Pad Thai was dissapointing. Dry and flavorless. Not recommended.
Tasty Thai food and the food tastes authentic however the price is on the higher side as it’s easily $50 per person. The portion sizes are decent and shareable
we got hit with an 18% tip without knowing about it. Also the shrimp has the skin on and when i took off the skin the shrimp went flying onto the floor so I lost it. I was sad. The servers are super nice but i gave a 4 because of the unknown charge.
Everything is always so good and quality. Expensive but reliable
Delicious food and friendly staff. Worth going two days in a row while visiting LA
Service was good and the location is small and cute. Aesthetic is clean and it’s great for a quick bite. Wine is a bit expensive, the curry was delish. The fried mushrooms were disgusting (zero flavor) I felt like I was just wasting my calories and eating grease. I would basically prefer this place for a quick takeout or a quick lunch. Stick to the main dishes like curry or pad Thai.
The food is good but a little too sweet. Service was regular/bad but something to be careful with is that they include an 18% típ in the check that's is mandatory. I felt scammed.
Boo
I had some average drunken noodles here. Noodles were lacking a deeper umami and overcooked and soggy. A bit expensive, but hey, that’s DTLA. The aesthetic was nice, and so were the servers.
Was at the Anaheim location and in trying to efficiently order online, I accidentally ordered from the downtown LA location. When I realized mistake and told the restaurant staff, they tried to call someone at the downtown location but couldn’t get through. Then they told me to call and have them cancel the order, so I did. When I got through, the downtown location said they couldn’t do anything and that Anaheim would be able to help me. It definitely seemed like neither location wanted to help me. So…just like that, spent a significant amount of money for no food. I can’t speak to how tasty things are, but I can say their customer service leaves much to be desired.
Food was delicious but overpriced in my opinion. I had a party of 5 and was not expecting gratuity to be added since we weren't a party of 6 or more. There was also no parking so I had to pay a flat rate across the street.
I absolutely love the food here, but I will say there needs to be some correction to hours of operation. I just called to place an order for pick up and I was told that the kitchen was already closed. It is close to 15 minutes before they say they close but the kitchen close 15 minutes early. This isn’t the first time this is happened. I’ve also came here at night were I’ve shown up 20 minutes before they close and got refused for service also. If you close your kitchen 30 minutes before you actually close I think you should read find your hours to the hours that your kitchen closes and not the hours of operation is very discouraging as a customer that I’m turned away when there’s almost 15 minutes left for your lunch hours and almost 20+ minutes for your dinner hours. Other than that, I really love the place. Service can be a little bit slow at times, but other than that great establishment.

The White Elephant plays a very significant role in Thailand’s culture and is the namesake of this exciting, delicious restaurant in Downtown LA’s Spring Arcade building. Thai inspired dishes with modern and contemporary twists are highlighted all throughout their carefully curated menu and best enjoyed when shared🫶🏼
Protip: we ordered dishes that we typically would not get from the usual takeout/delivery suspects (not getting the Pad See Ew here felt like a crime💔) and it was the best decision ever. ✨Trying these new (for us) dishes completely opened up a whole new, bold flavor profile and gave us a renewed appreciation of how dining in opens you up to new experiences✨
We had: 🌺Hibiscus with a Passion (Sabé Blanco, Italicus, hibiscus, passion fruit, lime, orange, tajin), 🌹Summerful Bliss (Forever Summer rosé, Hana Lychee sake, Prosecco, agave, lime), 🍣Salmon Tartare (chive, shallot, masago, egg yolk, ikura, crispy rice paper), 🦐Royal River Prawn (charred river prawn, shrimp popcorn, prawn beurre blanc, Thai chimichurri, bread crumbles), 🍛Yellow Curry (turmeric curry, potato, white onion, carrot + Jasmine rice), 🐟Crispy Branzino (ginger beurre noisette, maitake, squid ink oil, fried onion, crispy basil), 🥭Mango Blue Sticky Rice (butterfly pea infused sticky rice, fresh mango), 🍨Fried Ice Cream
You definitely get a gourmet meal from a kitchen staff that understands how to deliver a top-notch dish.
Not pleased whith white elephant diving. Had a papaya salad and it only came with 3 shrimp. Never tasted the papaya but ok. They say it's there. Don't know where. Not worth the money. And good luck finding a parking.

Excellent food!
We were visiting from out of town and we're initially going to go to a neighbor restaurant but loved the clean and nice set up we decided to take peek at the menue and were pleased by the choices. Great food and delicious, will definitely be back whenever in the area.
A cute Thai place with beautiful decor and friendly staff. I never had to ask for more water. They were very attentive. The panag curry was so good and very nice size portions.
Made reservations day before and got confirmation twice for our reserved time and we showed up and it was closed. Checked hours on their website and on Google and both said same thing open 4pm. We paid for downtown La parking and waited outside in hopes that someone would show up for our reservation and no one showed up, reservation was at 4:15pm and waited almost half an hour. Tried calling multiple times and got no answer. Hours need to be updated and reservations need to contacted if they are going to be closed very unprofessional and inconvenient. Wasted money on parking. Horrible service.
We came here because it is close to LATC and we were going to a show. What a find! The place is simple but very nice. More importantly, the food is remarkably good! I enjoyed their Tumeric Chicken and my wife had the most delicious salmon I’ve tasted in a long while. The Chardonnay was very good.
Ask for Michelle, she is a doll!
Bit pricy, we order the three dishes, they taste like same, sweet and a bit sour, not too much difference 😅
We will not come back for legit Thai food but the atmosphere is great for dating tho

태국음식점 중에 젤 맛있고 깔끔한 레스토랑
직원들도 친절하고 가격도 괜찮고 고급스럽다
음식에 진심인 레스토랑
We only came for appetizers but WOW WOW WOW. We had the potstickers and the basil chicken wings and both were SENSATIONAL. I very rarely write reviews but I felt compelled to because the food was just that incredible. I am not exaggerating when I say that I didn't know it was possible to pack so much flavor into food before. Absolutely incredible! The service and atmosphere was also terrific.
Let’s talk about the (white) elephant in the room!
We were very disappointed with our experience. We ordered the from the “contemporary” section of the menu which may have been our mistake. We hade the chicken and the salmon. The chicken was fried with an excessive amount of batter and tasted almost completely unseasoned. The salmon was overcooked and not well seasoned either. Both came with sauces. The chicken had something like the normal sweet chili sauce and it was good. The salmon had what I believe was supposed to be a ginger sauce, but it was super salty and I couldn’t eat jt (and I love salt!). The greens were dry/undressed, and flavorless. The rice was a good solid average. The highlight of the meal was the appetizer. The potstickers were above average—I really appreciated the thin hair-shaped peelings of red pepper they served on it. Finally we arrived around 815pm and the staff was rather assertive with repeated reminders about the fact that they close at 9. So overall, it was an uncomfortable and unsatisfying experience, and frankly the price was offensive given the below average food and service. We will definitely not be back. If you try it, maybe stick with the more traditional Thai.
Delicious! My husband and I ate here for dinner. He had the panang curry and I had the crispy basal tofu. Perfection! So much flavor and well done.
GREAT PLACE FOR LUNCH OR DINNER.
ARRIVED ON THE EARLY SIDE OF DINNER @5:30 AND WAS EMPTY. BUT NEARLY FULL BY 7:30.
HAD THE HIBISCUS SUNSET WHICH WAS A GREAT N-A DRINK.
THE STAFF WAS SUPER ON POINT AND GREAT.
FOOD WISE
EVERYTHING WAS TASTEY INCLUDING;
9/10 PAD THAI (GOT IT WITH CHICKEN)
9/10 YELLOW CURRY (LEVEL 3 SPICE)
9/10 VEGGIE FRIED RICE (LEVEL 3 SPICE)
9/10 CRYING TIGER STEAK PLATE (SELECTED THE SIDES OF ROASTED VEGGIES, AND THE PAPAYA SALAD)
EVERYTHING WAS GREAT AND SHARED AND GOOD THE NEXT DAY FOR LUNCH AS WELL.
Let me tell you abt the service --- excellent, top-notch and memorable. Our main server, the other service professional were all 💯🔥 now lets get to the food and cocktail. Cocktails were beautifully made, wonderful ingredients and tasted wonderful. The food was amazing, the fried mushroom was surprisingly delicious (i dont like mushrooms but they made so delectable!)! Yellow curry and basil thai fried rice were our main courses. The thai fried rice took me back to Bangkok! The herbs tasted so fresh. Desserts were tasty, a nice end to my last night in Los Angeles (Feb.1st) ❤️🙏❤️
If you want to eat thoughtful and delicious Thai food, and you happen to be near downtown LA… this is the place to go. I stumbled into here during a rainy day with a friend and was so surprised how elegant the place and service feels. On top of that the food was delicious, especially their Tofu Tom Yum and mango sticky rice :)
Fantastic food. Fernando was great and the Coconut Milk Fried Chicken is a 10 out of 10!
Bulgogi dumplings and drunken noodles were top notch
Best Thai Food in LA! 🤤
10/10 Gem
I was impressed. Surprisingly solid Thai at a location where the food could get away with being a lot less good than it is.
Delicious food
Everything I've tried so far has been delicious. Pad see ew, yellow and red curries, fried mushrooms, fried rice, won ton soup. Oh and their peanut sauce is sooo addicting.

terrible expereince!! worse customer service we ever had! Had a date night here the other night and the lead manager was so rude they blame their staff memeber for being "new" but he could of handled it on his own. Besides the " customer service" portion the food was really not good! I think the only draw about this spot is that it is located in a decent spot but getting there you will be met with A LOOOOT of homeless people doing crack right outside of the spot and this is not a one time occurance, we actually heard other people said they had the same expereince and would not go back.
Coming back to their respond to this:
Obviously this restaurant can not take responsibility for their terrible negligence in dealing with such a simple easy situation that THEY cause!
Before even sitting down, I asked simply if they would accept me even though I showed them that I was invited to come dine at the restaraunt. They said YES, please sit. I sat down I showed them once more hey I just want to make sure I can dine here because this was a last minute visit from myself. ( most restaurants usually would say yes, we still want to take you in as I am providing them with FREE content shoots) They took my order sent in all the food and ONLY at the end of the meal they did the bait and switch for this situation. I find that ridiculously unprofessional. If you wanted me to pay for the food please state this in the beg and as I have in the beg. Aside from everything, everything else I wrote about this was truth and not base off of the terrible expereince I had with the owner and manager.
The portion size is great, and the food is good, too. Wish that they have options for thai curry without fish sauce.
Lugar tranquilo, comida rica y abundante, recomiendo compartir platillos.
Called at 7:50 to confirm when the kitchen closes. Phone rang continuously and was never answered. Showed up at 8pm on the dot and was told that they were closed. Very convenient.
Great quality, spot on flavors.
The restaurant was immaculate. Food was delicious and service was great!
I am a fan of good Thai food and this place definitely reckons that. Tucked up in a mall like place full of eateries , it boasts authentic flavors and definitely a gourmet dining experience.
Talking about service, the staff goes above and beyond to answer any questions you have and provide the beat suggestions according to your palate.
Lets talk about the food ,
I got the Mushroom crisps which were bit on oily side but boy they were yummy and crisp as it could be! Salmon belly tartare is really exquisite , it has got a lot going on in there and just explodes flavors in your mouth!
For the mains, I got Panang curry with chicken and Thai fried rice with seafood. One thing to note is the quality of ingredients is very high, you can tell when you taste it!
I loved the Panang, its a curry that I always order whenever I am in a Thai eatery and its a must here!!
The quantity and quality is enough for a party of two or three!
I admired the patio ambiance, gives you a rustic vibe.
I can't wait to come back for more!
Happy eating.
PS - They also have bottomless Mimosas going on here ;)

White Elephant was an incredible experience! Their teas and Sparkling Pink Milk are amazing as well as the elegant Truffle Potato Confit which was cooked to perfection. The Yellow Curry was incredibly flavorful and the Drunken Noodle level 3 with steak had some of the best flavor I've had on a drunken noodle. I'll definitely be back here!
Big fan of this new Thai fusion offering; don’t sleep on the turmeric chicken with peanut sauce, salad and basmati rice.
I was hooked UNTIL they changed the portion sizes of the soups and curry to smaller bowls and kept them at the same price. Than when I asked they lied as if I wasn’t a regular and said “It always been this size” I will say the food is still very tasty BUT WAY OVERPRICED for small portions. Like insanely overpriced !
Really great food!
📍 White Elephant
541 S Spring St Suite 106, Los Angeles, CA 90013
🔥🔥amazing Thai restaurant in LA, White Elephant offers fresh to order Thai food with fresh ingredients. Thier drunken noodles were soft , well seasoned and fresh shrimp. The Curry was nice and creamy with the right amount of spice. The Thai tea hit the spot.
Overall: 4.6/5 (dine)
Saw lots of raving reviews so we had to try this place. We got there late Saturday afternoon so there was nobody seated and service was a bit slow. They had to put together two tables to seat the 4 of us. They have a nice white marble table and wicker chairs. Their menu is very clean and easy to read. They have both classic Thai dishes and some fusion options. All their entrees are big portions too.
Ube Thai Coffee ($5.50): I barely tasted the ube but my cousin could and liked how subtle the flavor was. The prominent flavor for me was the condensed milk so it reminded me more of a Vietnamese iced coffee. The coffee itself isn't as high in terms of caffeine so you can still enjoy this coffee later in the day.
Peachy Sunrise ($6): My husband got this drink which was really good! She said it was made with sparkling water so whatever the second ingredient was, it's delicious!
Basil Chicken Wings ($14 for 6): The wings were a tad small but full of flavors and crispy.
Pad See Ew With Beef ($20): The noodles were somehow soft but had that smokey flavor. Their beef was also tender.
Drunken Noodle With Pork Belly ($18): My husband and I liked this more than the pad See ew. I like the variety of veggies and the fact that the noodles don't taste/feel oily. The pork belly was okay since I don't think they really marinated it. He got spice level 2 which is super mild to me. He got a side of garlic and onions ($1/each) on the side which adds a nice crunch texture.
Honey Pork Belly ($19): My hubby tried the honey pork belly and didn't like it as much as his pork belly in the drunken noodles. He said the pork belly was dry and didn't really have a lot of the honey taste.
Coconut Milk Fried Chicken ($18): You get to choose your greens and side. I got the crunchy kale which was good. Got a side of jasmine rice to eat with the chicken which was standard. The fried chicken batter actually tasted like coconut milk which was pretty crazy. I don't know how they do it but it also didn't taste oily or heavy. All the flavors were on point. If you want something different, I recommend trying this. The sauce was also really good and the perfect compliment for the fried chicken. It's not as umami as fish sauce but packs the perfect punch of flavor for this dish.
We are from Thailand and I wanna say this place is great.
The menu is still small but the taste is really tasty and authentic. I felt like I was home here. Thx to the chef, Bravo!!
Clean and modern room inside enclosed street/mall. Very noisy, fans and exposed kitchen much louder than background music.
Very limited menu, just 3 noodle dishes, 2 curries--panang and yellow, 1 salad. Missing many standards... no chicken satay, no green or red curry, no rad nah, no crab puffs/rangoon, no larb gai or any sort. <
Ordered pad thai, arrived in 2 min which is worrisome as it takes longer to cook, but seemed fresh, tasted good. Chicken was precooked and added, as noodles were steaming but chicken was cold. Acceptable method, decent but not memorable. Watched cook for a bit, he was fast and good, nice wok setup, so he really does crank a dish out fast.
Open on Sunday, unlike many in area. Decent, wouldn't go here in hometown where I had better options, but would eat here again if I wanted one of the few dishes offered, and no other Thai place with broader menu was open. Not bad, just not great with very limited menu. Great and friendly service.
So sub-par I can’t even stand it. Except for the peanut sauce, the other sauces tasted the same, like rancid oil. My sticky rice is a nearly rock hard sticky brick. I was so looking forward to the sticky rice!! The coconut chicken was nothing to write home about and the rancid sauce didn’t help any. The Tom Kha was overly spicy but probably the best thing I got. The egg rolls would have been good if again it weren’t for the rancid oil smell. The can of coke, it was good. The packaged soy sauce and hot sauce were good. What a waste of $60!! I only eat out once a week and this was just a bag full of trash…Did I come on a bad night? This place has such great reviews. Maybe I picked all the wrong items but I won’t try this place again to find out. Cutting my losses at $60!!
The elephant in the room is that they put two shrimps on their papaya salad…. That costs $14. Each extra shrimp costs $1.5… I’m appalled. Flavor is great. Principle is….. sad.
This was my first time time dining at White Elephant Downtown Los Angeles. The staff was extremely helpful and attentive. I ordered the Puffy Tofu, potstickers and Pad See Ew - we highly recommend all three if you’re out with a friend.
So good. Quality, fresh, delicious, quick, and HUGE portions for the price. Will definitely be back regularly!
It’s in the Spring Arcade close to 6th and Spring St. Had the pad Thai with chicken there and also thru delivery . We needed a Thai restaurant! Good portions and was good.
Everything there is delicious!
It was elegant place. Being a vegetarian, I had their Tofu dish only and I must say that it was the best Tofu I have had till date. Hospitality was also good. Definitely, recommend it!
It was nice. Small restaurant getting things going. I would probably come here again, but I’d get a different dish.
We got the drunken noodles, and it was a lot of noodles and not enough vegetables. Lots of food, so that is nice, and flavor is good. Apparently the “modern twist” dishes are popular, like the orange chicken, so I would try that.
Nice customer service. We didn’t wait for food at all.
I had the Drunken Noodles. It was fantastic. The service was top notch as well.
Ya know i Love this place.
Lately I've been resting after work. I love to cook my own food, but when i eat out i choose my Restaurants wisely.
White Elephant 🐘 Never fails me, since day 1 I've been a fan. (Anticipated it before it even opened downtown. )
Was very honored to have 2 Sweet Cream Green Teas!!
Thank You So very Much 🥰 they were so very Delicious!
I ordered my usual Basil chicken. I love crunching on the Basil 😅 something about it is so satisfying 😌.
Ya know, everytime i eat here the flavor gets more and more Intense with goodness!
Keep up the great work White Elephant! 👍
Cheers to the Best meals ever.
🥰😍🤩
Great spot in the historic spring arcade! The staff is friendly and the food is amazing! Look no further for your next Thai experience!
New business in the neighborhood and we’ve been coming almost everyday. Great fried rice!
This is a weekly stop for me! Ever since WE opened I cannot get enough, I highly recommend this spot and their orange chicken. Not to mention their staff, especially Ten is incredible and gives the best recommendations.
The restaurant was very aesthetic and pretty!
Ordered Tom yum and egg rolls, great quality. Prompt and efficient service.
absolutely next level pork belly
Nice atmosphere and decor and pretty clean. The cashier was very friendly and explained the menu very simply for how I would order, as it’s my first time here. I’ve been looking for places that serve curry, so I’ll swing by more often.
Great food in downtown. Definitely recommend
This place is a must go to! I was given a sample when they first opened up and it was amazing that finally I made it back. No regrets. It is a little modern spot, very clean excellent customer service! The employees are very attentive and friendly. Food is prepared on order and very fast and fresh!! Yummy!! 😋😋😋
The orange chicken is phenomenal. My second time back in a matter of two days. Kitchen is very clean as well.
Amazing food. Great portions
Friendly, good food, super clean and fast!!
Great place, helpful staff. Excellent food!
Friendly and delicious!
Place was clean, food was tasty. Price was just right!
