Unfussy restaurant offering familiar eats along with Thai iced tea, coffee & milkshakes.
My family and i love this place. Been coming here for years. Even though it doesnt say it. They are open on sundays from 12-8:30pm except the third sunday of the month. At the risk of exposing my to go to spot. This is a hidden gem for some authentic thai. We got a big family and get the pad thai, pad see ew, pineapple curry (i always order side noodles and make it into a ramen :P ), teriyaki chicken, veg. Fried rice, chow mein, pepper garlic, and the broccoli. Never disappointed.
Delicious! I participated in a class that catered from Thai silk express. We had pad Thai, pad see ew, and a chicken curry. The pad see ew was hands down AMAZING. It has a sweet flavor to it, a nice texture, and I was also really impressed at how good the curry was. It looks good, but tastes even better, especially with the rice. It was super satisfying to the taste buds. If you’ve never had Thai food before or are looking for a Thai place to go to in DTLA, come here. Order out, because you won’t regret it — you’ll end up enjoying it!! The pad Thai though, was probably my least favorite of the three. It was decent overall; still flavorful, but the other two definitely exceeded my expectations.
My first time here and I love it I found this place on google maps and decided to swing by and pick up food . The staff is friendly and awesome they care for there guests here literally its a small place but its cozy. FYI they have boba! I tried there orange chicken has a kick to it and its the best I ever tried its not to floury unlike most places! There food here looks amazing and appetizing I hope to come back and eat here sometime.
Ordered take out from this local spot for the first time- Tom Yum, Pad Sew Yoo, amd fried rice. Over all the food was good, my only critique is that the rice lacked flavor. The food was ready pretty quickly and place adheres to Covid Guidelines by not allowing dine-in, sanitizing, and wearing masks.
Thank you for lunch today I love and enjoyed my food today. One satisfied customer.
Kind Regards,
The Picky Lady.
My favorite dish is the Pad Kee Mao
I have tried several Thai restaurants in Boyle Heights/East LA. This blows the rest out of the water. The food tastes authentic, the ingredients used are of high quality, and everything is cooked to perfection.
I highly recommend their calamari and fried tofu, the fried tofu is crunchy on the outside and soft of the inside.
Pad Thai, pad se ew, curry, and other dishes taste delicious.
Food is great, I like that you have the option to upgrade the lunch or dinner special to brown rice. The food is fresh and cooked to order.
Thai milk tea and iced coffee are good as well. The boba isn't the best, but it's not like that's their star of the show.
Service is excellent, staff is friendly, food is cooked quickly. Parking can be a bit tricky since the lot it is in is very small.
This family owned restaurant is a blessing in my neighborhood of BH. I never had mango sticky rice before until I tried it here. AMAZING!!!! Everything I have tried so far is really good. The shrimp rolls are so tasty, love the pad thai and mixed vegetables. An don't get me started on the chicken pineapple curry.....so good. We have catered 2x with them. First time in 2022... and Christmas party 2023!!

Always love Thai, and this place is one of my favorites. Been going here for years and have yet to eat anything that disagreed with my palette or even my digestive system. I recommend this place!
Spicy seafood soup had tons of imitation crab meat. The broth was too sweet, inauthentic in my opinion. Very small portions of seafood. Not worth the $18

7 seafood got fake crab that’s the only flaw
Super delicious Thai food
Good place and Food for someone who passing by and don't know what to eat, Great chef food out fast and still tasty recommend it
This place was awesome, the spicy seafood soup delicious. The service was very welcoming.

I. Have. A. Thai. Food. In. A. Long. Time. But. Highly recommend this place if you want fresh hot food to go. !!!!!!
Thank you ,I love Ordering from the place. It's good food:) 😊💯💋I always order here very nice people to meet and the employes .
Stopped by here after waiting for my girl to get her nails done and man was the food good, the service was fast too. My only problem with this place is they're supper skimpy on their shrimp, chicken, and beef. Shrimp fried rice had 4 pieces for $14, combination chow mein had 2 pieces of shrimp, 2 pieces of beef and 2 pieces of chicken for $16, the soup with mushrooms had 5 pieces of shrimps for $15. Would not come back and do not recommend it because proteins seem to be scarce here.
My go to spot for thai food !! They’re the best <3

I have been visiting This Amazing Restaurant for the last 4 years and EVERYTHING IS JUST GORGEOUS
THE BEST SHRIMP WONTON SOUP THAT I HAVE EVER TASTED
I love this place.
Delicious
Muy rico el Pad Thai de camaron, me encanto.
The food was not great. I ordered papaya salad. Taste alot of fish sauce not even spicy. Chicken satay was horrible 😫. I got nauseous after one bite.
Good food
This thai place is super yummy. I have tasted other tom yum soups and this one has been one of the best. Good quality in the chicken, great balance of sour/spicy. Service is good, and place looks clean. Made the experience worth it, and has made me come back twice in the past week. Thought i would share and write this review. Enjoy!
Surprisingly good food for a hole in the wall place. Asked for chicken pad Thai but got shrimp. Was allowed to use restroom- good to know in Covid times. Extremely tough getting in and out of the parking lot.
Food flavor is excellent & tom yum soup has authentic spices/herbs. Main problem is that there's no fullness, nor content, on 2 cups of broth. My $12 soup had 4 thin-small pieces of chix & max 8 thin slices of small mushroom pieces...that's all. Curry is delicious but same issue with the innie few chix pieces :( Had cook steamed rice at home & eat a cup 3pmin later because got very hungry quick.
They charge a lot more if you asked the Thai te whiout ice ?????
First time time there I ordered three a la carte and a soup. I just spent $50 dollars, I’m just very shocked they don’t give free plain white rice!! Every where else I’ve gone they give you white rice, and the portions are small. The guy was rude over the phone and in person, terrible customer service. Never again
Great little spot, will actually make things spicy!
bad expirence I order a kung pao beef when I opened the box and it had a little bit of meat no rice or chow mein on the side the nuts tested old for $13.50 it was expensive other places serve same plate for less and they include rice or chow mein at no extra cost ????
So Iv'e been reading multiple good reviews on Thai Silk Express so I thought I would see what the hype is about. The service was great. My server was very attentive to everything I wanted to order and suggested a couple popular options. I ended up getting some Pad Thai and it was absolutely delicious, will definitely be coming back...
We went here because it had 4 stars but a total disappointment. The plate portions are small and not worth the price. Service is good but they add a fee to your tab if you have a group of 6 or more. I honestly can't stand and hate places that do this to their customers. Why do we pay extra for servicing us? Isn't this your job? 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 We got here around 8pm and they almost kicked us out if there, I get it you want to go home but geez, but hey were just too desperate to clean the table so we just left. Needless to say this was the first and last time we eat here. I honestly thought it was better than what it was because I went based on the stars given by other customers. I personally recommend that you go elsewhere for Thai Food.
very tasty Thai restaurant, their spicy seafood food is beyond great
Nice clean small place.
Good food.
I loved the food and was good for the price
I have been ordering from this place for the past 4 years. The food taste great and it’s just a taste of full of spices in your mouth. The employees are always there to help you with a smile. They also deliver and it’s quick.
Family owned , the food is good. Tastes fresh, attentive staff, friendly. They fixed up the place since the last time we visited. Nicer, brighter. Small but cozy and very welcoming. Parking is limited because it is in a small strip mall.
The Best Thai in the hood..my absolute favorite hole in the wall..! Honestly, anything you order will be delicious! Great hospitality and quick service! 🍜🍲🍚🍝
I used to like this place and the older Asian couple are nice but last time i was there, a younger Asian girl was at the register and she kept giving me a dirty look the WHOLE time I was there and it was just awkward and made me feel unwelcome...i know it had to do with me being more brown... I just got the racist vibe from her... So yeah.. now you know and you can choose if you want to support a restaurant like this.
Thank you for reading my review as a lgocal guide I feel it's important to know which places have this kind of "people" and also this isn't a quick judgment review....i have lived around the area for years now so I know this place very well
Love this place. Very friendly. Fast service
Buen Lugar para comer.
Got the crab fried rice, in recommend it. Nice service, quick, love the food
My favorite Thai restaurant! Family run, they love what they do, the food is always great. 6 stars!
The food was excellent. I recommend geting a stir fried noodle and rice with a spicy side. The hospitality was great as well. You will be treated as family and will not regret comming here. This definitely deserves to be recognized.
Very good tasty food
Best Spicy Beef salad in Boyle Heights!
Super friendly staff and the food is soooo good !
I usually start out by ordering a small item calamari and usually every restaurant gets it wrong this place was one of those places don't order it there was no calamari just bread. The curry the issue is most almost all Thai restaurants include white rice no charge with the meal since it literally has no cost although here they charge you for the additional rice like you're supposed to eat curry by it self shame.
Yellow Chicken Curry doesn't come with rice! And that small bowl of rice not enough for me me 😤
Not bad for east la. I love the ginger fish. And fresh young coconut. They have a lunch special. And the shrimp rolls are the best.

Great food and friendly staff :)
Food tasted better at the time of visit. April 2016.
Even my companion agrees.
We ordered from here months ago and was unimpressed so we stop ordering.
But on this day's visit we were satisfied with the taste of our food. Pad Thai was not dry and bland. The tom kha had the same intense flavors you would expect the soup to have.
They were very attentive to their guest. Even before you can speak, they're already asking you how they can help you. We have an hour window to have lunch and we were able to get back to work on time.
Our theory is they have new owners now? I will ask the next time we come back.
Was not able to take pictures- too hungry.
Overall it is worth coming back to.
The location has small parking spots that it shares with other businesses next to it.
Great food and they deliver too!
I loved this place food really good
Authentic and delicious! A bit of a hole in the wall but worth the stop.
The food here is delicious my husband and i always order for delivery their service is always fast! The food is always warm when they deliver it and the prices are good👍the food has great flavor i really recommend it! Love their chicken fried rice😍
delicious, good service and friendly staff
Great food
This place is horrible and the owner yelled at me!
My grandpa used to love this food, he is diabetic and must eat at certain times. I ordered at 12pm and the women on the phone said it would take 40 minutes. Perfect, still within the window my grandfather must eat. An hour later I am still waiting for the food. I call to cancel because its 20 minutes late and the owner says the driver has just left and he will be there in 10-15 minutes. I don't live far from the restaurant, it shouldn't take them that long to get here. I told her to forget it, the food is already late and we don't want the food. She begins to yell at me and say that I should have called 20 minutes ago, not an hour later to say I didn't want the food. I'm sorry that I assumed when she said 40 minutes that thought the food would be here in 40 minutes. I even gave her an extra 20 minutes because I understand it's lunch time. She informed me that she doesn't only have "one" customer. I would have gladly waited had they called and said it would be late or had been polite about the situation. The delivery man calls me 15 minutes later and says he will be by in 5 minutes but I will never give this place my business ever again. The food isn't good enough for this type of treatment. I will be telling all my friends and family who visit this restaurant regularly of this incident.
this location is one of the best places i have been.. great service, super friendly staff and speedy delivery. never had a problem with this place. --ROY--
