So tasty

Diner Review №2

This is elevated Thai cuisine; the restaurant recently opened on Pico so would probably ignore reviews from years ago. The ambience is perfect and peaceful. The food is medium spicy so def specify mild if that’s what you want. Pictured is khao soi.

Diner Review №3

Sanook is a hidden GEM on the west side. Every dish… and I mean EVERY dish was some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had. The stand outs for me: Tom Yam Soup, Pineapple Fried Rice, and Spicy Coconut Soup… bonus points for their delicious coconut ice cream served on top of a warm bed of sweet sticky rice :)

The owner and staff are all SO friendly and sweet. I feel like I left the restaurant having eaten at a long time family friend’s house.

I cannot recommend this place enough! 10/10 👏

Diner Review №4

This is hands down the best, most consistently delicious Thai food in LA. You can’t go wrong ordering ANYTHING off the menu. I’m pretty picky, especially with Thai food and this place doesn’t disappoint. They used to operate out of a cloud kitchen and just moved into this beautiful, clean, and intimate space in West LA. I’ve followed their journey and the owner, Lee, is the sweetest and most hard working restaurateur ever. Everything tastes so fresh and you doesn’t leave you with a heavy or greasy feeling that I get from other Thai places.

My favorites are:
- pineapple fried rice
- chicken satay
- spicy coconut noodle soup (I recommend it with the egg noodles!)
- the coconut ice cream dessert! it’s served on top of warm coconut sticky rice with crushed peanuts on top. The texture and flavors are to die for!
- all the curries!
- cashew chicken
But seriously everything on the menu is delicious!

Fabulous food. Authentic Thai. New top end sparkling clean kitchen. Watch the chef prepare your meal. Liquor license! Try the drunken noodles. You won’t be sorry.

Diner Review №6

Came here last week and the food was AMAZING. Some of the best Thai food we have tried in LA. Even my kids, who normally don’t like Thai food, loved it. They are still in their soft opening phase so the service was a little slow. That’s because the lovely owner is basically running the shop solo for now— taking the orders and cooking each delicious dish. She was so nice and welcoming that it was definitely worth the wait. And sometimes it’s nice to have a leisurely meal! So happy to have this new gem in the neighborhood.

Diner Review №7

I was told 10 minutes to pick up the takeaway, but I waited 20 minutes with no apology and a bad attitude!

Diner Review №8

What a nice find. The spicy heat was perfectly balanced. Love their chrysanthemum hot tea! One star less for limited parking

Diner Review №9

Delicious 👍

Diner Review №10

The restaurant is featured on Uber Eats so I gave it a try. I ordered only 2 items and a drink, and it took more than 150 mins for them to prepare and it’s still not ready. They told the driver 2 more minutes and the driver has been there waiting for an hour. The restaurant even lied and changed the status to completed so I couldn’t do nothing.

I don’t care if the food is legit or not at the point but the restaurant is def not.

My 4 year old had to starve till later than 9 pm without having dinner. Wild

Diner Review №11

It's not a neighborhood without a good Thai restaurant and Sanook is the best there is going. Authentic and succulent food and very personable service. Get on it!

Diner Review №12

My family found this new Thai place on Pico and we were immediately blown away. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere that set the tone for the meal to come.

We have had our fair share of Thai food, and Sanook Soi was truly exceptional. The fried rice was a standout—light, fresh, and perfectly balanced in flavor. It wasn’t greasy or heavy, like most can be. The pad see ew and sticky rice were other highlights. What truly stood out was the attention to freshness. Everything was made to order, with just the right amount of spice to enhance the fresh ingredients and flavors without overpowering them.

Lee and the staff were attentive, friendly, and genuinely seemed to care about ensuring we had a great experience.

My family is very excited to have Sanook Soi 38 in our neighborhood, we’re looking forward to the next visit so we can explore more of the menu.

Diner Review №13

We are so happy to have such a great new Thai restaurant in the neighborhood! We dined in and had a great meal! All the dishes we tried were delicious. Thanks to Lee for making our first experience so great! We will definitely be back!

Diner Review №14

We walked by a few times but didn’t realize they were in their soft opening. No sign yet. The food is very elevated and authentically Thai. Recommend Mieng Kam Wrap and salmon in banana leaf.

Diner Review №15

I finally visited this neighborhood Thai restaurant that has been open for two weeks. Every dish I ordered was surprisingly delicious and completely changed my perspective on authentic Thai food. I’ve been to Thailand and tried many Thai dishes in LA, but this place truly stands out. The dishes shown in the pictures (except mango sticky rice) were entirely new to me (I don’t remember the names for each but the servers should be able to tell from the pictures). Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic food made with care and passion—you can truly feel it as you enjoy the meal.

Diner Review №16

They opened a new restaurant near former Westside pavilion, north side of Pico. No sign yet but directly across from Jaipur. you can eat in or take out. Very nice space. Park on street. Colony location is closed.

Diner Review №17

Over one hour wait and food is still not ready

Diner Review №18

Our favorite LA secret Thai spot. My housemates and I have had several dishes. My favorite is the see ew pork. I've been to Thailand and this is the first LA food that tastes not only authentic but affordable and good size portioned. Really impressed -- we've ordered 3 more times.

Diner Review №20

very very very yummy curry! this place deserves good ratings :)

Diner Review №21

I don’t know how they get less than 4 stars. I’m an Asian and I think they have the best Thai food in LA. I tried their papaya salad, tom yam soup, roti and pad se-ew, they are all amazing!!

Diner Review №22

Update: Went back to being good! Still would like bigger portion of curry… our fav legit Thai place nonetheless. Wish on the app you could add extra sauce. If you call them they will help you though.

I previously gave this place 5 stars a few years ago. We used to be obsessed!. Now… they skimp you on everything- containers half full, chicken is actually just fat and skin pieces, they won’t give you the sauce you ask for… and half the time now it’s either super bland or way too spicy to eat. What gives? Used to be be our favorite and we told everyone. Please go back to being good bc we ordered from you every week! It’s been going downhill for almost 2 years so we are not super hopeful for a sudden change back to tbh. But fingers crossed! We miss the old Sanook!!

Diner Review №23

I don’t know how this place has anything less than a 5 star rating — it is some of the best thai food in los angeles (and i’ve tried just about all of them). Panang curry is particularly wonderful, egg rolls are crispy and satisfying, pineapple fried rice is bomb, and the pad see ew is complex and wonderful. They’re also super warm and friendly people, highly recommend!

Diner Review №24

I absolutely love ordering from this place.
So delicious and good portions.
I highly recommend the chicken noodle soup.

Diner Review №25

Tiny portions. Typical from Colony restaurants.

The problem is not the flavor, which I actually found to be quite enjoyable. The beef Pad Thai was solid and had great spice. The issue is that you will still be hungry after you eat here. The bowl they serve the food in is small to begin with, but then they only fill about half of that.

Let this be a warning when going to Sanook and the other restaurants at the Colony. The amount of food is unacceptable.

Diner Review №26

I don’t know why all the hate this is some of the most delicious Thai food I’ve ever had. Thank you so much!

Diner Review №27

Ordered via Uber Eats and was very impressed with the Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and chicken noodle soup.

Diner Review №28

3rd EDIT: I called again and the owner answered. They remade my order and the food was really good. I've updated my rating.

2nd EDIT: I've tried calling them twice today to redeem the owner's offer below. The first time the number didn't even ring. I just tried again and it rang, then sent me to a full voicemail so I couldn't leave a message either. Seems that they're still ignoring the phone and making false promises.

EDIT: The owner below stated that I placed my order after the kitchen had already closed, but my order was placed within their operating hours listed on UberEats. If they closed right at that moment, they should've contacted me. But they didn't. We didn't find out my order was canceled until after 2am when my delivery driver was outside their door. There is no excuse for that.

*****

Restaurant canceled my order, even though it was placed before their cutoff. Then they didn't bother to notify me as I waited for my food to arrive. My UberEats driver went all the way to the restaurant for nothing then notified me once he finally got there.

They ignored their phones when both UberEats and I tried to call. My driver witnessed them ignoring their machines as they were ringing.

This was my first time trying to order with them and it's really clear that they don't care about their customers.

Diner Review №29

Padthai here is the best it’s real Thai test 👏

Diner Review №30

So savory! It’s my go to Thai food for delivery and everyone I get it for loves it. Portions are small for the price but I don’t eat that much.

Diner Review №31

Solid som tum, but I do find dining out it a cardboard box at The Colony to be a little rustic.

Diner Review №32

Diner Review №33

The best hanoi chicken I've had in west LA! Their sauce is to die for. Haven't dined in but I've been a big fan of their delivery on Uber Eats.

Diner Review №34

Food is very good, but order directly from delivery service, not their website. Several things on the website are no longer offered & if you order one of those they simply Cancel your order without notice after COFIRMING your order! The only way you will know is if you go back to the website & look up your order & look through the small print to see “Status: deleted”!!

Diner Review №35

I love Sanook Soi, which has been my go-to place for Thai food since its beginnings as a food truck. It's the real thing, not messed-with Thai food for people who eat pineapple on pizza. I always get the panang curry and rad na, but everything on the menu is delicious. Great people and great food keep me coming back for more!

Diner Review №36

Diner Review №37

Delicious as always!

Diner Review №38

Wrong order, never answered The phone and very small portion for the same price as other restaurants

Diner Review №39

Ordered via Uber Eats, after waiting for two hours, the restaurant abruptly canceled my order without explanation

Diner Review №40

Just ordered Tom Yam Fried Rice and Pineapple Fried Rice through UberEats. They are delish. My kids live it.

Diner Review №41

The rice from Hainan chicken rice (delivery order) is not fully cooked.

Diner Review №42

Diner Review №43

Just ordered for delivery and the food was amazing!!! The Pad Thai is flavorful. They separate ice for my Thai Iced Tea so that it won't melt when it delivered. Will definitely order again

Diner Review №44

Diner Review №45

Tasty food

Diner Review №46

Ordered from these guys on Uber Eats. It never arrived and nobody seemed to know how to handle the situation.

Diner Review №47

Owner is a great person but the food is below average LA Thai food… Pretty bad curry noodle & pad Thai and the Bangkok tea tasted like medicine

Diner Review №48

We placed an online order for delivery and waited half an hour just to find out they had declined our order with no explanation. Very annoying.

Diner Review №49

Amazing!
I grow up eating Thai food since I was a baby everyday and to me it was very close to food I ate.
Definitely closes in America that I tasted so far.
The lady who paid was very kind as well.
I forgot to tip her so got to make sure to tip extra next time, she was even so kind even if I didn’t tip her.

Diner Review №50

We ordered pad Thai, spicy eggplants and green curry last night. The food was great and tasted authentic The green curry was spicy as I like. The eggplant was cooked perfectly. Highly recommend it.

Diner Review №51

Eggplant was still raw.

Food was over an hour late and arrived cold. I communicated with the restaurant a number of times in between and was lied to about when the food will even leave their restaurant.

This is enough for me to never order from this place again.

Diner Review №52

Sanook at Colony is such a cute & delicious little spot in this enormous kitchen. I’ve had their Chicken & Eggplant, spring rolls, pad Thai, and chicken Satay and all of them were absolutely slamming. Plus the two who run the show at Sanook (Johnny & Li) are the absolute sweetest duo I’ve encountered running such a busy kitchen! Thanks again ya’ll.

Diner Review №53

Best Thai Food in LA! I tried the pork noodles and have been coming back ever since. If you're looking for authentic Thai food, prepared with care and quality ingredients, Sanook will not disappoint. Highly recommended if you're in West LA.

Diner Review №54

Diner Review №55

Great, the drunken noodles were delicious and exactly as spicy as I requested. Service is very friendly as well.

Diner Review №56

Great Thai food. I love the panang curry, the isan sausage, pad Thai, pad see ew, drunken noodle and any of the specials. My new go to Thai place in west LA. Also, the khor muu yang (grilled pork appetizer) is amazing!! Top left: khor muu yang, right: isan sausage, and bottom: panang curry

Diner Review №57

This resto is CLOSED. They didn’t even have the courtesy to update their hours and status - CLOSED - on google, or TELL GRUBHUB NOT TO TAKE ORDERS ONLINE ANYMORE. I ordered, scheduled for pickup, WAITED for 20 mins for pick up before someone finally told me the place is gone. I suppose I should feel sad that another small business closed due to covid, but right now I am just really annoyed that they didn’t even do the basics to update their status. ugh. Waste of time.

Diner Review №58

Amazing delicious food!

Diner Review №59

Took double the amount of time for one order of pad Thai at one of the least busy times.

Diner Review №60

Great food but the Colony experience leaves so much to be desired. You have no idea when your food is going to be ready with their ordering system, so you either have to wait a long time or you have to show up late, accepting that your food might be cold. Furthermore, the customer service is atrocious.

It's really a shame that Colony ruins the experience, because I would otherwise be a regular here since the food is so good.

Diner Review №61

This is the best Thai food I’ve had in LA (on par with Northern Thai Food Club). We waited for TWO hours for delivery and will happily wait a again.

Diner Review №62

Favorite dishes are ethe BBQ pork and the khao soi. This place is 100% legit.

Diner Review №63

So deliciously flavorful !

Ordered Postmates delivery. It was pretty fast (30min?), arrived hot, and is SO flavorful. Favorite Thai restaurant in the area.

Had Panang curry and a pad Thai.

Will order again !

Diner Review №64

Terrible service they dont pick up the phone and aren't aware at all of online orders. Beware

Diner Review №65

We just called and ordered delivery directly because we were very nearby, instead of using an App. Much better. Thanks for the excellent service and flavors. We look forward to the next time. Excellent.

Diner Review №66

Green curry was delicious. First time I ordered the restaurant accidentally gave too little food, but made it up to me. Great service and food!
