Paul Butpet, owner of the Melanee Thai restaurant, has been serving delicious Thai food to Los Angeles since 2001. Inspired by his childhood experiences in Thailand with his mother's cooking, Paul brings some of the most delicious and creative Thai dishes to be found in all of Los Angeles!
this place plays beautiful music with interesting chairs and nice scenery. Their food is pretty good. They’re not chairs. They’re actually sofas and they have tiny little pillows which don’t do anything, but they’re pretty pretty comfortable all on their own a nice mirror that spans the place
We were staying right round the corner while in LA and were for a quiet place to dine. I was particularly looking for some Asian food while this popped up. Went over and was pleasantly surprised. It’s a nice cozy place and Paul is a really nice person and host. Took care of us really well. Oh and the food was really good too. We ordered chicken dim sums, prawn spring rolls, chicken & coconut rice and chicken fried rice. Every one of them was really well done. Thank you for your hospitality Paul!
Bit disappointed. I didn't realize the Pad Thai would be so plain. I'm used to Pad Thai having chopped cashews and fried egg. But it was just noodles, bean sprouts, and green onions. The green onions were chopped into huge pieces. Not fun to chew on. It should be chopped finely, no? Not a fan, sorry :(
Very tangy chicken pad thai passes the test. It has a really unique garlicky taste. The chicken fried rice is superb. The chicken satay is excellent. The papaya salad is great. You can ask for an unspicy version. The owner is very nice and attentive. This Thai restaurant stays open very late which is great. Meter parking.
I had the pleasure of meeting Paul and his wife, who own and operate this wonderful restaurant. Paul is not only one of the kindest and most genuine people I’ve met in quite some time, but he's also a great cook, as is his wife. I highly recommend trying the red curry shrimp with vegetables and rice—it's absolutely delicious. Walking into their restaurant was a breath of fresh air because of Paul's genuine kindness and authenticity, which is quite uncommon in the area where we were staying. They use family recipes and are dedicated to preserving them without alteration. If you're craving good Thai food and excellent customer service, I highly recommend stopping by.

Great vegetarian Thai green curry. Friendly service. Nice jazz, music playing in the background and no sports!
Absolutely delicious the best part is that they are open late. You can't go wrong with the Tom Kha soup so savory hits the spot every time. And the Pad Thai so good! 😋 I live an hour away that's how good the food is.
Delicious food and very friendly and attentive service. We dined in for the first time tonight and will definitely return for dine in or to get take out.

Great food and service. Authentic as it gets.
Amazing ice Thai teas! Best I’ve had in LA
My only complaint is that the food was a bit pricey. Also the mango sticky rice was gross. The mangos did not seem healthy.
Everything else I ordered was absolutely DELICIOUS. The shrimp garlic noodles so tasty, the chef Specialty dishes were good! It was quick service too
Cute little spot with meter parking in front. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was kind and attentive, and the setting was very cozy and comfortable. Portions are quite big, enough to share and very tasty.
Amazing chef Paul! Amazing food.
The food is authentic Thai and truly delicious!! This is a hidden gem in Beverlywood.
I was honestly upset that I went through with eating here however the options for the type of food Im accustomed to are limited in this area. I was from out of town and it was within walking distance of my hotel. When I walked in during lunch time most of the lights were off, there was a coating of dust over everything and an odor of oldness, the appearance was of a restaurant on its last leg with dirty and outdated furniture...I refuse to believe that people actually dine in this place...I immediately began to sneeze and could not stop until I exited. I ordered orange chicken and pad Thai noodles to go. The chicken tasted pre-breaded. I was highly disappointed that I paid over $20 for this quality of food.
Best Thai food I tasted. Fresh, tasty and delicious. Friendly and accommodating service.
Amazing Food
Bardzo dobre jedzenie i przemiła obsługa polecam ;)
Quiet atmosphere, great customer service but above all… Excellent food. We have been coming for years and wanted to share our favorite dishes: Pineapple Rice, Pad Thai, Pad See Yew, Orange Chicken, Chicken Satee… delicious peanut sauce! Hope you enjoy as much as we do!
I stopped by on a Friday evening and got to eat some delicious Thai food while having a friendly conversation with the owner. For a restaurant to be around for 29 years, you know they’re doing something right. The Pad See Ew and Green Curry were authentic and delicious. I’ll definitely come back!

Their Pad Thai was terrible I’ll never go back again. Pad Thai is common dish for me to order at Thai restaurants. I think they need to get some tips from Thai House, Thai Paradise, Chef G on 4th, or Pho VT on how to make it better because it was awful. So disappointed. Pad Thai shouldn’t taste like that. The worst Pad Thai I’ve ever had in my life, ended up throwing it up unintentionally. Also way too expensive just for one dish that didn’t even taste good.
Other than that very nice and polite people.
I was randomly walking on Pico when I saw the lone restaurant open in the area at 10pm on Friday night. The neighborhood is a Jewish area and Sabbath is practiced.
Pleasantly surprised how good the food is. Pick the specials on the right side of the menu.
I had the Paul’s shrimp noodles. It was excellent!! It took inspiration from Italian shrimp scampi but with a twist of Thai flavor. I love it.
David is the Thai owner with a distinctive goatee. He is very friendly.

Small Business Thai food owned by Paul and his wife. Home-made Thai food, food was delicious, and the customer service was impeccable.
Cozy atmosphere, not much foot traffic due to remote work, Paul mentioned it used to be busy, now he barely gets any customers. Probably due to people working from home, little to no more business lunches at his location, or any small businesses nearby.
Would definitely recommend the Red Curry and the Green Papaya Salad.
Best food yummy yummy 😋
Despite their massive menu, my must order is their kanom jean nam ya. It isn't a popular dish, but Thai people know this is the most authentic dish that will feed the soul.
Exceptional food. Will definitely come back.

I never feel the need to write reviews, even if it’s a 1 star, however; this time I just HAD to. Paul, is very rude and racist. To make matters worse, the food was not edible what so ever. I never thought pad see yew and chicken fried rice could taste this bad. I am honestly surprised the ratings aren’t worse. Trust me, if you care for your self-respect, money and well-being DO NOT EAT HERE.
Very bad food and not honest! Also the price is way too expensive. Dont ever try this restaurant
Pretty expensive given the lackluster quality of its food. The menu also lacks variety.
Such a cute place! The man working was so nice and the food was delightful! The beef pho was soo good, the meat was tender and perfect! The mango sticky rice was also so so good! Wish we lived here to make it back again soon!
Great food and service. I love that this place is open late, we came around 12am and there was no one. It’s just hard to find and see at night.
The food is amazing, the restaurant is spacious and aesthetic, and the staff is friendly. Highly recommend. The place is tough to see at night despite being right on the street but they're probably open if it's posted I've been there late.
Pretty gross. Empty resturaunt. Pad thai consisted of noodles, overcooked chicken,a few bean sprouts and peanut crumbles in an overly sweet sauce. The restroom smelled llike raw sewage and was right next to the kitchen.
Good here is AMAZING!!! Small hole on the wall with no ac bit if you like Thai food this place delivers on that aspect.. Food was an A++
Run, run, run. This was the absolute worst Thai food we ever had. I got Orange Chicken. My wife got yellow curry chicken. I could barely eat mine.
We arrived around 7:20 for pickup orders, and the entire restaurant was empty. It smelled funny, too, like sour food.
My dish had green onions and broccoli in it. They included the wilted parts of the green onions that you'd normally throw out, so I had to pick those out.
The chicken was rubbery and tough in both dishes, clearly they'd microwaved a pre-cooked dish.
This place seems like a high level food safety violation place. We only hope we dont get food poisoning. Sure wish I had tried the food before leaving a tip.
My meal was practically unedible.
I forgot to take photos but Service is A + . Atmosphere is very inviting and food was delicious. Thank you guys
Great customer service and the quality of the food is delicious. Bring your date or your family here, so good 👍
Love Chef Paul and Melanee Thai. Absolutely the best Thai food. The food never disappoints. I’ve been coming here for years. Chef Paul has the magic touch.
Too expensive. Everyone is price gouging these days. I left without ordering after looking at their menu.
Open late, great food, total vibe
Hands down, the WORST Thai I’ve ever ever had. I have no idea why this place has 4 stars, you’ve got to be so drunk and messed up to enjoy this place.
I ordered the Chicken Tom Kha - it was not good. There was a lot of chicken, a lot of DRY chicken. Soup itself was too sour, imagine watered down coconut milk and a lot of vinegar.
I was super excited to order my favourite: Khao Soi but this place butchered it so much I wanted to cry. They used instant noodle cooked al dente with a lot of the driest chicken again. Flavours were not there either.
There was nothing redeeming about my experience. If you’re looking for a late night bite, PLEASE do yourself a favour and get some In and Out.
Food was good. Service excellent.
We needed a place to eat after a concert and this restaurant was open late. It was quiet and we were not sure how it would be. What a wonderful surprise. We eat a lot of Thai food and I can honestly say, this food is was DELICIOUS!! The portions were so generous and the quality was top notch. I can’t wait to go back next time we are in LA. What a find…
A waste of time to be honest. Ordered a Sui Mai pork/shrimp, was cold/frozen types….disgusting absolutely…sent it away. Had a beer and came away….a complete waste of time and not recommended for anyone who is even desperate
Great food and good portion sizes! Very filling and well-made food, not too greasy or anything like that
Good food
This place is the bomb. I order takeout from here frequently and it's always consistently good and as a bonus it always arrives warm! That may seem like a little thing but I'm always getting lukewarm food went it arrives to my place. So I really appreciate it when it's perfect. I've had a few things from here: the David's Special ($19) , Orange chicken and coconut rice ($19), Paul's Special ($21) and Picolos special ($19). All are SO GOOD! My personal favorites are David's special which is minced chicken over rice with a fried egg and Paul's special which is shrimp over garlic noodles. The portions are also really big so I often have leftovers. I highly highly recommend this place.
Very authentic and flavorful food! Super impressive!
You definitely have to try for yourself.
Best Thai food, delicious everything
The food was so fresh and flavorful, everything was seasoned perfectly and the portions were super filling. Definitely would recommend to friends and will be returning soon
good service. food and place could used some update
Amazing Thai tea! Amazing hours!
Great service, very substantial portions.
Delicious. Flavor unmatched I had the Thai curry it was amazing
The pad Thai was mushy and bland—with dry chicken. The beef broccoli was anemic and watery. The pork belly was ok but the sauce was very watery and flavorless. Spent over $65 on 3 large dishes. I will never order from here again, even though they are open late nights. The food is not worth it or the wait.
Amazing food!!!
I always make sure to visit this restaurant when I’m in town. Their red curry shrimp is amazing! So much food, always fresh and they give you tons on shrimp with the order.
I love this place! I use to eat there 2-3 times in a week. They have delicious Thai food , their service always friendly and fun. High recommend
Just had the Tom Kha and the Green curry - Tom Kha was sensational, and the green curry was really good! Great potion size, quick, and friendly service. Great on a chilly day. Thank you Melanie Thai!!
Soo good! Best fried rice I ever had! And the staff is very nice!
Perfect dinner! This has definitely become my new favourite restaurant in L.A.!! 😍 Not only the staff are all friendly AND Thais (meaning u'd likely be getting a truly authentic Thai food here like I had 🥰🥰🥰), also the prices are so reasonable given the amount of food you get!! 😋😋
Highly recommended to anyone who would like to have a real taste of Thai food!!!
Very rude and had bad service. Food was okay at best
Hidden jem in the Beverley Hilla area. Very handy place not from the hotel I stayed near by. Family loved it. The portions were great, the food was very authentic. Drunken Noodle was my favorite dish. Delicious.
They would also open very late in the night, that was very nifty while visiting the city. We could be coming back late in the evening and still put an order in. It worked out amazing. Also, very friendly staff.
Thank you Melanee Thai for an amazing experience.
Yellow curry with rice noodles!!! So good
Miss working near here, such good Thai. Authentic fare, good prices, always fresh and spiced to taste.
The red curry and Spicy Thai basil fried rice is really good but the Chicken Pad Thai was the worst I’ve ever had I think. :/
The food here is so fantastic! A really neat little restaurant. Highly recommended.
I haven’t tried a lot of the dishes here so I will be fair. This is not the place to go to for drunken noodles or pad ke mow. I have given this place a second try and it is horrible. Tasteless and definitely no heat. I can home cook the meal way better than this but sometimes I want the real thing. This is not it. Not good at all
Incredible experience. Great for lunch, amazing staff and food
I ordered some pad Thai tonight and was so disappointed. I’m not one to leave a review but the pad Thai was congealed and one solid clump of noodles. Also the color was the unappealing neon orange. The flavor was okay I guess but I was hoping for something different
Fastest service in the west. Very well served. Convenient prices. Good service. Comfortable environment. And delicious food.
Must go again!
Look, I spent 100$ including tip. Food was absolutely not the best but also not the worst. I'm not complaining or bashing them. They simply are a family owned shop trying to survive. They need support like everyone else. So on that note thank you. Keep up the great work! Maybe try adding more spice and flavor but good atmosphere, clean menus, silverware and plates. A+ service thank you for being open and having us. Cheers Mate from the UK 🇬🇧

Before the pandemic they were my favorite go to Thai restaurant. The last four times we’ve ordered dinner for our family, we have been highly disappointed!!! Pad thai, For instance was only a pile of noodles with some chicken. No peanuts no bean sprouts no vegetables at all literally just bland noodles with chicken!?! I called Paul and asked him what happened to the peanuts? Can’t do it anymore people have peanut allergies (he explained) & they are not including vegetables in any of their meals until the pandemic is over. Don’t ask me why... it really hurts us not to patronize this place anymore but we literally ran out of menu items to be disappointed with.
Get out from this place! The worst Thai food I have ever had! This should be locked to serve food! I just dumped this fake Thai food!
Best seafood soup
Wonderful spot with an incredible family who runs it! Every meal I have had here has been incredible and every experience has been positive— couldn’t recommend Melanee Thai enough!
This was the worst quality Thai food I have ever had.
OMG! Worst Thai food, ever. Pad Thai was electric orange, flavorless mush. Other dish was some flat noodle with raw white onions.
Hate to bash a restaurant, but I spent $31.00 for two dishes, and had to throw them out. It’s 12:50 am, and all I can taste is the rancid flavor, still in my mouth. Sorry, owners, but your food is horrible.
Got the fried rice with beef. Terribly bland and low quality ingredients. The meat was gross. Unfortunately had to throw most of it out.
I have lived in Thailand for about 5 years of my life training in martial arts and bodywork. There are very few real Thai restaurants in LA, most of them catering to the tastes of the locals/Farang who prefer two flavors: sweet and salty. Melanee is one of the only places I can get real Thai food with all of the real flavors. Every dish here is outstanding. I feel lucky to have such a great restaurant in my neighborhood. The family who runs this place are incredibly nice, polite people who bend over backwards to make your experience here first rate.
Love Paul’s special, yum!
Noodles were flavorless mush, chicken tasted old and unseasoned. Just an overall bad culinary experience.
Good in general, friendly, fine atmosphere and affordable.
Great service & delicious food with veggie/vegan options!
The food was lousy. Spicy fried rice was actually white rice with no seasonings, 3 slices of carrots and 2 pieces of broccoli. The veggie pad thai was just as bad with less veggies than the rice and no flavor. Never again!
I get the lunch specials from here. Very affordable!
Food is made fresh tasty delicious good prices
Excellent food.
The food is really great here. Everything I've ordered has been delicious. I try to order anytime I'm in the area. I've always taken my food to go but it seems like a chill place to have a meal alone or with a friend or two.
Pretty good food, but not the best Thai I've had. Interior could use an update, pretty dark and old. I visited on a Monday so not many people inside but the food delivery and take-out was constantly flying out the door so it must be popular.
It's rare I give a 5, but I have been frequenting this establishment for years. The owner Paul has always taken care of me and when Im not sure what I want or I want to try something new, he comes out the kitchen with a dish thats always worth trying.
It's nice walking into a place that remembers you and offers amazing service.
I would absolutely eat here again! A colleague and I stopped in for lunch and splurged on several dishes (neither of us had breakfast). We were pleased with all of our selections. Everything was tasty. Portions were generous and prices were reasonable. If you're ever in the area, stop in.
Amazing from the special house salad to the sauteed vegetables to the spicy thai chilli fish. Perfect
Good food by good people
Amazing food. Paul is the best.
This is the One and only best Thai food in Beverly Hills area, I go here once a week, every week. Amazing! Very good.
Worse Pad Thai ever
I love this place. Best spicy beef salad hands down!
Wonderful and serene atmosphere. Excellent selection and high quality food. Couldn't ask for much more!
Slow
I drive by this place every day. Finally stopped in for dinner. Food was superb
Service was friendly. I asked what the best veggie dishes were and he sent them. Yum!
Nice people. Ok food.
Amazing!!!! Amazing!!! Amazing!!! It’s a hole in the wall but the food is incredible! My favorite Thai in LA.
Really good food for a good price
Excellent food and very friendly staff.Visiting from Australia and our 1st meal here and very impressed.
مأكولات سريعة
One of the best thai restaurants in town. Hole in the wall place, but food and service that is second to none. Paul, the owner really takes pride in all that he does. Never had a bad experience here.
1st time here excellent meal. Ordered pho with beef, spring rolls, and pad see ew with pork. Everything was delicious and will be coming back definitely.
Amazing.David’s Special is delicious.I’d recommend the coconut rice.
Always, always delicious. Not top notch service, but the food is worth the offset. Service is “fair”.
Really quite bad. No one in my group finished their meals and the food made us sick.
Best Thai in town
Great Thai Food... My favorite in LA. Their seafood combination is the best in town.
Food is fantastic made fresh when you order. 100 percent go back there again even if I was passing through I would make the detour to go there
you have to be joking
Their lunch special is one of the best deals around! For just under $10, you get a complimentary soup (okay) and salad (small, good flavor but not as paste-y as you’d like to see a ginger dressing) and a sizable entree. I’ve never been here for dinner, but it doesn’t feel like a smaller, “lunch-sized” portion that you normally get at Thai restaurants. The service was very kind and attentive. I got the Pad See Ew and enjoyed it, would definitely bring a friend and come again.
Probably the worst Pad Thai I have ever had... and I'm from the Midwest.
Love the green curry
Delicious food and great service! Just moved from TX and love finding a place I can come back to.
Best Thai I've ever had!
Excellent food and very kind service!
Quite possibly the worst Thai food we have ever had... it was either lacking delicious flavor or was simply tasteless. To top it off, the food was quite unattractive.
Simple but yummy dishes! Great service
Delicious
Great food and Paul is awesome!!
