Casual, strip-mall eatery serves up traditional Thai fare such as spring rolls & curry puffs.
Had a delightful experience at this small Thai spot! The Spicy Curry Fried Rice and Spicy Curry Noodles were a flavor explosion - absolutely delicious. The Crying Tiger dish was a standout, perfectly grilled and bursting with flavor. The portion size of the Spicy Curry Fried Rice is generous - perfect for sharing between two unless you're especially hungry. A satisfying meal that won't leave you wanting! The cozy ambiance coupled with the friendly staff made our visit even more enjoyable. Can't wait to return for more Thai goodness!
Spice Thai is a locally owned gem. We had a party of 8 tonight and tried so many different things. Crying Tiger (amazing), Pad Thai (amazing), both shrimp and beef Thai rolls (so great), shrimp tempura (amazing) Thai chicken fried rice, pineapple curry, chicken satays, and more. For dessert, we had the sweet rice and mango Everything was fantastic. Service was excellent and the place was really charming. We loved every minute of our dinner tonight.
Thank you for making our outing w our team so perfect.
The food is delicious and the lunch specials are definitely worth it. I work nearby and have had dine-in/takeout 30+ times, and the great taste and quality is always there.
Crying tiger is my favorite followed by pad see ew, any of the curries, pad thai, tom yum soup. Would highly recommend for lunch but not as much for dinner, there's a price increase and the side of rice is no longer complimentary.
Pretty good lunch spot. Their crying tiger is definitely the menu highlight. However, they don't make a delicious Thai spice sauce with fresh chili's. Which is kind of disappointing. Also they don't make Thai tea with lactose free milk options. Overall a solid lunch spot, but definitely not the best in the area.
One of my favorite Thai spots in South OC. THEY ARE CONSISTENT and food is always tasty! Love their tiger cry and they have really awesome lunch specials and don't forget to try their Thai Tea! They definitely get busy during lunch time--so make some extra time! Their service is quick and attentive.
The food is delicious but once you see the bill you will get shocked. For 3 people's 15% gratitude. She will tell from 2 peoples gratitude will apply. You will not informed prior about it and there is no sign. Heck bad experience on service.
I finally found the place I've been looking for. Not sure what's taken me so long because I've heard rave reviews about this place. I literally pass it everyday but for some reason, the plaza it's in always turned me away. It just seems like any other place but wow, was I wrong.
This is easily the most authentic Thai food I've had in a long time. I get Panang chicken every place I go. And they make it EXACTLY how I remember it to be from Thailand. Also, my Thai ex that could cook better than most restaurants I eat in. Exactly the same. That smooth thick curry with a clean rich flavor of coconut and spices.
My only issue was the chicken itself. It was just a tad chewy and dry but, traditionally, that's why curry was put on chicken so being a little dry is kind of more authentic, lol. Seriously, though, I would like to go again and i hope that the chicken is a little more moist.
But, judging by the flavor of the curry, I'm sure I can give it another shot without worrying.

This is my favorite Thai restaurant been coming here for 20+ years but it's been ruined by greedy pricing.$25 for crying tiger? 4 years ago was $12.95. I'm out.

The server forgot to add the beverages to the bill . What possessed you to tell your customers …here is another separate bill for the beverages I forgot to add to your original bill. Think about. Was it worth giving your first time customers a blunder on your part over $7.50? Times are tough and we all want to experience a good time eating out. We won’t be dining with you in the future and won’t be recommending it to any of our friends. Disappointed.
Want really really really really good authenticate thai food that you can't find in LA or OC, go here. Simply you can thank me later
Good food at a reasonable price. Good service and nice atmosphere.

AMAZING FOOD. food is perfect, hot spicy, great taste. i believe this is very authentic
Came here so that I could eat while my car charged. The staff acted like I didn't exist, nit even a drink order... so I left. Will never bother going there again.
I have dined in and taken out many times. My husband and I have drastically different taste profiles, but we both love Spice Thai. I get the chicken fried chicken and egg rolls and my husband gets the Thai basil and green curry. We have tried numerous other places and always come back here
Here for a basketball tournament. Stumbled upon this restaurant. Phenomenal food! Would definitely recommend it.
The online hours don’t match the in person hours
First time experience and both my wife and I enjoyed our lunch. I had the Crying Tiger and it was excellent! My wife had the drunken noodles also excellent. Will be back soon!!

Local gem
Like many other reviewers here, I agree that Spice Thai's Crying Tiger is definitely one of the best I've ever had anywhere, including ridiculously more expensive/highly reviewed restaurants. Service is always polite and friendly. Restaurant is clean. Truly a hidden gem in this shopping center. Highly recommended!
Love the crying tiger.
Hands down the best Thai spot I have ever been to. The crying tiger and the basil beef, shrimp, or chicken are my favorite. However, anything you order from here will not be disappointing. I guarantee it.
Fantastic Thai at very reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere despite being in a strip mall.
Good selection of typical Thai dishes. My friend and I were there for lunch, about 1:30. The food we received was perfect. Mine was spicy and temp hot, and my friend's food wasn't spicy, flavorful, and hot temp. We got water, and they put a slice of lemon, and the water actually tasted good. Usually, restaurant watch seems to taste like chlorine, but theirs tasted like filtered water. I got the spicy basil noodle dish with chicken, and my friend got Pad Ew, I think that was the name. She got beef in hers.
My chicken was slightly overdone, but hers was done to perfection, nice and tender. Next time I go, I will ask them to try and not overcook the chicken...it is easy to do.
Overall, I was very pleased. Oh, the prices were fair, especially for the amount and quality.
Best Thai food in Orange County!
Good heat. No tomato-which is common. Carrots-which are less common. Pricey for takeout soup at $23 with a tip.
I’ve been dining at Spice Thai Cuisine since 2019 and have always had a great experience. The food is tasty, service is excellent, and atmosphere is cozy. I bring visitors here for dinner all the time, and everyone loves this restaurant. I always have leftovers because the portions are generous. I’m so lucky to live nearby!
This gem of a restaurant has plenty of seating, great lunch options, and authentic Thai décor. Learn some Thai from the generous and friendly staff who will always greet you with a smile! There is plenty of parking. Don't forget to end your meal with some mango and sticky rice!
I don't like leaving bad reviews but this second time coming here and was hoping it would've been a better experience than before. But no sadly. Took about 10mins for them to finally pay any attention to me even after calling out to them. Then another 10mins watching them walk past me/standing by the register and having to raise my voice to finally place my order even having to ask for my drink again after waiting about 5mins.(There were only about 3 other tables at the time)
Timing my lunch since I only have an hour. 15 or do mins to finally get what to me is not worth $19 for "lunch special" with some very tasteless food with MSG being the most prominent flavor and beef that was basically burnt where all you can taste is that char. Not once asked for a refill of drink either. They seem like nice ladies but, for both experiences:
Service - Terrible
Food - Edible
Spice Level 1-5 - Non existent no matter the level
Would not recommend - I feel this is a very Americanized establishment and this is more for those who don't know the real thing.
Was thinking since they were only a 4 min drive I'd have plenty of time to eat and make it back to work with in an hour like other restaurants. I love Thai food, I grew up eating Thai food always trying find any new places that have that authentic feel and taste but this wasn't it.
Long tangent. But to each their own.
Food was super good. Tasted really fresh. Staff was super friendly. Clean, fast service. Would definitely come back.
One of the best Thai places I’ve been to in the OC!
The lady Sevice is very rude and no response when we asked, and talk with a short high tone, not the taste of Thai food any more, bad service, I don’t think I would come back this place again, not recommend for someone looking for real Thai food
Hands down the best Thai restaurant in the whole of Orange County !! My go-to place ♥️
The best Thai cuisine in Orange County since 1992 when their family introduced me to Thai food!! Truly talented palate pleasing family ❤️
Fantastic food for take-out!
Dropped in on a typical weeknight, ordered common 3 items, cost $40 (ave cost per item $13. So, a little pricey, but not uncommon in this area. I usually go to Thai Corner or Batong, which have very good food for a similar price. However, I was not impressed with the food here. I ordered everything the same level of spice 5-6. The Soup was way too spicy and otherwise tasteless. The eggplant curry had no visible eggplant and was very bland by comparison. The pad thai was ok, but not great. I'm getting tired of paying high prices for mediocre food. Food in thailand is cheap and awesome. It's the opposite here.
Amazing Thai Cuisine
Happen to drove by the area & saw SpicyThai restaurant
Nice atmosphere & great service We order to go with 2 lunch plates, moderate in price & the portions are perfect.
Love the Crying Tiger, the meat is so tender and delicious and enjoy the
spicy mint sauce which is awesome! tasty and not spicy And Beef satay with peanut sauce is very tender & perfect too. Both complement with big scoop of rice & decent size of salad topped with peanut sauce dressing.
We finally found a decent Thai food place in Lake Forest area
Highly recommend & definitely will come back again
I'm a big fan of their crying tiger beef, I always get it as spicy as possible!
My wife's a big fan of both their massaman curry and their tom kha gai soup.
We usually get the chicken satay with peanut sauce as an appetizer, it's so good!
Don't forget to get their mango sticky rice for dessert.
I'm grateful you can order online now, makes it easier to get take out!
Best thai food.
Bamboo chicken. Spice level 4
Had a great experience,
delicious food yammy, definitely going to see me again.
I love Thai food, but this is not good Thai food.
It is super greasy and lacks flavor, I could deal with one or the other, not both
During lunch it is so busy, you get soup, salad, rice and the entrée of your choice.
The crying tiger is tender and savory, the fried rice noodles are light and crisp-! Everything was very tasty!
Food is fresh, hot and the atmosphere is friendly. Did I mention the food is really good? Try the tri tip egg rolls. They are really good.
Good, fresh food. Nice and clean. Good service. 👍

Love this place
All food is delicious
Awesome food. We have had many visits and keep coming back.
All right just average, pricey.

Best to Thai I've ever had regardless of price. Crying Tiger is one of the best beef dishes, period. All their soups are fantastic.
Eaten their dozens of times and never had anything but great meals.
This place has been here for many years. I'm never disappointed. The food is fantastic with great service. Love this place.
Spice Thai has been our go-to Thai restaurant for the past few years now and the food has never disappointed. The food always tastes fresh, has been consistent in its quality and presentation and the staff is always pleasant and happy to have you dine with them. The décor could use a little help though, it feels like a haphazard 80's design but the food and service outshine the dated interior.
Great service and delicious food.
Actually pretty good. I'm not overly fond of Thai food, so for me to suggest it might be worth your time means something. I always enjoy the Crying Tiger, which is both delicious and as far as I can tell, completely devoid of coconut milk. : -)
Great Thai spicy delicacies.
I was there with my collegues, the food was tasty but took a bit time to get ready.I am even ok to wait a bit to get freshly cooked food. Just tried one type of dishes , do not sure of other but nobody complained about that , do hopefilly it would good
Great spot. I love their yellow curry
The food doesn't worth the price. The veggies even didn't wash and put on the plate. We can see the dirt of the cilantro that on the top of the meal. The rice wrapper of Fresh egg rolls are so hard not fresh at all. Tasted like a paper.
The chicken tasted so hard like old and cheapest chicken. We couldn't believe that we didn't order a meal the Thai woman looks like the boss who served us put the order and added $3 extra shrimps. I guess she doesn’t understand English well. We noticed that she is only being nice to man customers and flirting too much. After we complained about the quality of the food she became so rude to us, and her voice of tone is like yielding to us, which is so disrespectful. We will never go there again.
My absolute favorite Thai spot - possibly ever! The flavors are always balanced just right between salty, sweet, tart, and spicy. My go-tos are the papaya salad, tom yum soup, basil eggplant chicken, crying tiger, barbecue chicken, and pad see ew. Bring a group of friends because you'll want to try a little of everything!
Good vegan choices. Better than quality food in general, and fast service
Crying Tiger, although it is beef, is incredibly tender and perfectly seasoned. Delicious ! Service is excellent, too.
Favorite place. Crying Tiger is the dish ti get here
Great Thai food choices! Won Ton soup excellent. Many entree choices available with great service.
One of my favorite Thai spots in South OC. THEY ARE CONSISTENT and food is always tasty! Love their tiger cry and they have really awesome lunch specials and don't forget to try their Thai Tea! Delicious food. Sometimes sour service 🤔
The food is amazing !!!
It was extremely good, thank you!!
The crying tiger is one of the best things I have ever put in my mouth. Love it.
Great service excellent food.
Nice, local restaurant with good food. They can make your dinner to meet your spice/heat desires. Can get crowds at dinner time, but the wait is never a problem.
Wonderful Food, which you load on your plate yourself, along with the special sauces & the Management is Top Notch ! I know this personally 😄
Good food, especially the Crying Tiger...
The Crying Tiger is the best.
Great food at reasonable prices. Be sure to get the crying tiger.
Coconut soup
I've been coming here for a very long time. Food is excellent. I typically ask for the food to be on the spicy side.
Good food, long waits..
I've been going here for years. It's probably the best thai food place around here. I'd give it 5 stars except it's a little pricey. Really liked almost everything I've gotten there. But, the crying tiger wasn't as good as I've had elsewhere.
Highest quality food out of all the Thai restaurants in the area. Great place to go for lunch on weekdays.
Great crying tiger beef plate
I enjoyed there food
Best Thai food in The OC
Shrimp pad thai and crying tiger is the best!!
Came here to treat visiting Friends from another country who wanted Thai close to their hotel. We were a Party of 7. We were seated at the big table In the Middle of the room by our server Annie. She asked for our order but we asked for more time since we were waiting for the rest of our party. She got pissed & we sont know why. It went downhill from there. She made us wait so long, even if the Restaurant only had 4 other tables being served. She seemed exasperated when we called on her to peace our order. With A scowl on her face, she took our order. We asked if one of the dishes we ordered comes with Rice. She said no. So we ordered an extra Scorpio of Rice. When our food came out, she gave us one Scoop too many. We asked her again if our order came with Rice. She said one order did. We sent the extra scoop back. We finished eating, asked for our bill. She was nice at this point. We checked our bill and saw an automatically 20%. We questioned it and she said USUALLY for parties of 7, they automatically add. Nowhere in the Store did they say this, Not on Menu, on receipts, a physically sign, Not even on Google! We said we Do Not agree to that. She processed a walk in order while we waited for another 15 minutes just for the corrected receipt. We left with happy tumiea but a “sour taste in our months” (if you will), for such an aweful customer Service. It’s sad to write this review about her AWEFUL ATTITUDE when THE FOOD WAS SO ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. They need to hire better people at the front to give justice to the awesome food they serve.
Love this place. Always busy for lunch, but they move very fast. Crying tiger and crazy cashew dishes are amazing.
Family owned Thai restaurant. Great food, great service at reasonable prices
I used to live just a few blocks from here and this is one of my favorite places to eat. I am never disappointed with the food. Haven't ordered anything I didn't like!! Delicious recipes for all the classic Thai dishes. Don't judge this restaurant from its location in a plaza parking lot! Whenever I visit family in SoCal I go out of my way to have at least one meal here!!!
Get a spicy level 5 panang. You will not regret it. I go here weekly and always get that. The best quality beef I have ever had in a panang. This place is my point of reference for that dish. The lunch specials are a very nice price ~9 $ for excellent quality.
The staff is also always really friendly. We even have an inside joke about ordering panang... I eat here too much. :)
Our favorite place....tom yum, crying tiger, yellow curry, spicy basil...all delicious and consistency always the same.
This is one of the beautiful food experience in CA..Hit this place if you like Thai flavour..I can't really name One of the dishes, but Crying Tiger is the best..😊
Beef so good, authentic thai flavor, fresh quality
Just OK, not impressed.
Our standard place to go for Thai food. Good service, reliably tasty food.
The best Crying Tiger anywhere. Seriously. Trust me...I'm Entropy. I know about these things.
Crying tiger
The crying tiger is still the best. Still haven't had any other restaurants come close. Generous proportions cooked superbly.
I love this place. I go here a lot and have yet to be disappointed. The Crying Tiger is THE BEST.
Most authentic Thai place in the area
Green chicken curry and the crying tiger are my favorites.
Love Thai food. They have an awesome House soup that is amazing. The crying tiger is lean, juicy and crispy on the surface so it is near perfect. Curry dishes are full of flavor but not overwhelming.
I have been there a couple of times before. This is one of few Thai places in Lake Forest area. Recently I went there today (9/29/2015) around lunch time and was trying to give 2 orders for the same dish (with different spicy levels) for 2 people. When I politely asked her to confirm the order that she has taken, the server snapped at me saying that i don't know the lingo of ordering and that I have confused her so much! She was rude and her tone was just a little short of shouting. I have never worked in a restaurant and neither i own so yes I don't know the lingo (if there is a lingo of restaurant). I have never had this type of experience in any Thai restaurant in my life. I could have Thai food at many other places but I guess this type of interaction can only be possible here. She was not fluent in English however that is certainly not my fault. Some people just want to adapt the lifestyle of America without adapting the etiquette or following the basic principles of customer service which you will find almost anywhere in America.
In my prior visits I had a different server and she was very polite and we never had any confusion. However this interaction has left me with no choice but to refrain from visiting them again. I will share this experience with friends and family to watch out so they don't have to go through this.
Crying Tiger. That is all.
This place gives you an usual look as soon as you enter it, with stereotypical Thai ambience. A buddha idol, few pictures on Thai tradition, etc,. But the food is not so. The food is exquisite esp. Thai fresh wrap with Tofu tastes excellent with the peanut sauce and mint sauce they give. Tom Yum soup is my favorite. Being just a seafood eater, i was much impressed with Spicy Basil noodles with Shrimp. They were perfectly blended with vegetables and sauce that are mixed with, which I usually don't get in other places. I don't eat chicken and other meat, so i cannot comment on that. Service is good too. Overall you wouldn't be disappointed for the money.
Good food and flavor! Hard to tell if the service was good, it was very busy.
Had the Beef Lime Salad Lunch Special and enjoyed every bite... You know the kind of place where the flavors make your mouth water well after the meal has long been eaten. I would recommend this place and will go back.
Our favorite Thai place in south county, period. We have tried most of the menu and its all good stuff. Small and friendly staff, and the owner and his wife are there pretty much every evening, she cooks, he hangs out and mingles.
Went there for lunch, had the usual thai home feeling like restaurant atmosphere
The food was great, I thought the Green Curry had a lot flavor to it. They also started off with an appetizer soup, and that soup was pretty good as well (had some noodles in it) Also had the Pad thai, because that was highly rated as well. Overall the food was great, for value and portion. I think its the typical thai price/portion
But I have to say the Green Curry would keep me coming back there again
One more note : the restroom was located inside the actual kitchen. The kitchen has the restroom door, and its a little room with the sink and toilet. It was kind of strange to ask and be directed straight in the kitchen to the restroom. As well as coming out and sort of getting in the way of the workers in the kitchen or delivering the food out etc. But they were really kind and nice about it
Great food, and great service I'd recommend it
