I stopped in for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The team working there was super attentive and helpful. I had the Thai basil with ground chicken lunch special and it was excellent. Just the right amount of heat and so flavorful. This is my go to dish at Thai restaurants and I just love it when I find a great one. The portions are large, so I had enough for 2 meals. Definitely worth a try!
Everything was amazing from start to finish. The food was exceptional! Do not miss the asparagus and crab soup and the crispy fish salad. The owners, Orn and Chef Tom, are the nicest and most accommodating people. They not only took extra time to make sure everything was great, but we noticed how they seemed to know or remember every one of the customers that came through the door. A perfect experience.
Update..5.5.2023.
I have to say this is a memorable dining experience. After this place is trying to open for over 2 years during that pandemic, this family puts out tasty pan asian dishes that are Thai and Vietnamese infused. I definitely recommend sit down meals here. Take out really anywhere loses its texture and the care that's put into each dish. As you can see from the food we ordered, it was so well prepared and delicious. The owners take pride in serving you personally and coming to visit your table. The wait staff is service oriented. I definitely recommend you ask them for their favorite dishes or do like we did and try a little bit of everything. The ambience is modern and clean. Belly up to the well stocked bar. Great drinks! You might have to wait a little bit if the restaurant is full, but it's worth the wait.
Went here for dinner with a party of 6 and was heavily surprised! We ordered a variety of dishes, as half of our party was vegetarian we tried some of their plant-based staples such as Pad Thai with tofu and Yellow Curry. Needless to say all the food ordered was excellent! I ordered a Thai Iced Tea to go with my meal and it was truly excellent.
The showstopper and happy ending to the night was the desserts, we ordered coconut ice cream, fried banana, and mango sticky rice pudding. The quality and sweetness of each was simply spectacular, especially the fried banana. There was a slight miscommunication when the bill came as their QR code payment system had apparently stopped functioning and we were required to pay a second time with a credit card. With a little more transparency and customer interaction this confusion can be avoided.
A hidden gem in my opinion - small space with amazing service and food. I had the coconut curry and my wife the spicy noodles. I also had a fresh coconut... I asked about drinks and the waitress seemed really excited about the coconut so I just went for it. I expected coconut water but was presented with a whole coconut. That's almost a meal by itself! There's definitely some depth to the fresh liquid that you don't get from store bought coconut water.
This was a mediocre Americanized Thai place. I didn’t feel the flavors were authentic. Their spice levels are American, not Thai (just FYI). The service was not good but it looked like they only had one waitress for the entire restaurant.
The food was typical and I was satisfied but not wowed. Thanks for reading!
We are passing through and wanted a delicious takeout option for the night. So glad we found Basil Thai… they are incredibly kind and you can tell they take pride in their meals. We ordered Pad Thai and the Bun Combo - delicious. Highly recommend! If we lived here we’d order from them regularly.
Last week at Basil Thai we had one of the best Thai meals that we have had in many years . The flavors here are very authentic and spot on, and the high quality of the ingredients is obvious. Also the staff and cooks are extremely friendly. There can be a wait to get in, as the restaurant is limited in size and there can be a lot of takeout/pick up orders, but the wait is well worth it in the end. Superb restaurant !
That's my favourite Thai restaurant EVER

Great food Great atmosphere
The man who greeted me was so nice. The food was impeccable so glad I finally found great Thai food in this area.
Had some take away from here, delicious curry and prompt and friendly service

Great food
Food well prepared with many options. Great service. Must go to in La Quinta.
What a great find! We ordered their orange chicken and lo mein with tofu. Mildy spiced, aptly flavorful and hearty portions with plenty options!

Authentic and yummy Thai food. The flavors are amazing and the service is always good. The restaurant is immaculate \ with a great feeling. Alway get good food.
Compared to the Thai restaurant we visited the next night, Basil Thai was wonderful. The Red Curry is among the best that I have ever had. The crab and asparagus soup was outstanding. The service was terrific. A really good restaurant!
Best Thai in the valley.
It took an hour to get pad Thai and pad see ew. It only takes me a minutes to make those at home. Food is not authentic. Definitely fusion with Chinese and Vietnamese.
The food was incredibly flavorful. There were lots of choices after our request for gluten free substitutes that were also flavorful. The Tom Ka Kai soup was creamy and delicious. The shrimp tempura was flaky. The server was helpful and attentive. This will be our go to spot for Thai.
I've eaten here several times. Always a pleasant experience. Tonight the service was especially warm and accommodating. So nice having delicious Thai food so close to home. Thank you!

Enjoyed my first visit. Lunch and it was very tasty. I'll be back again

I lived in thailand for 4 months a while back.
This is 2 minutes from my home & I would LOVE to rate highly, however. I just had potentially the worst Pad Thai I have ever had from here. The chicken was all gristle, the flavor was insanely bland. The price point is higher than a kite. (Need I say more)
The coachella valley doesn't have any good thai food. (My thai is just as bad & expensive)
Better luck with El Ranchito or something down the street. This place is not good. I will try again in the future hoping this may encourage better spicing & effort in such an expensive price bracket. For now this gets a 1 star. If any 5* ratings were anything like my meal, the folks rating have clearly never had authentic Thai food before. This is overpriced, bland & overpriced from my experience.
This is a new Thai restaurant in the cove. The food is very good, the staff is friendly. Hopefully the locals can support them in off season.

Very good quality & amazing amiable customer service… Only negative is price is a bit excessive
I was really hoping that the food was going to bedelicious. Since the other Thai restaurant in La Quinta is always crowded. Was very disappointed!
Food was flavorless and just tempid. I ordered spicy noodles and there was nothing spicy about it and just tasted like watered noodles. Menu was expensive ($18 for fried rice that had no taste to it) Will definitely not be returning. Service was just ok.
I'd been waiting for thos place to finally open. I finally got to get takeout from there, but I'll admit I was a little disappointed. The food was ok, but not very flavorful. I've been to better Thai places. But I will try again. Maybe I'll order something different and spicy
This place is a hidden gem! Our group of 10 was looking for an easy take out place to eat at the house and it hit the spot. We loved the asian eggplant, veggie yellow curry, green papaya salad and shrimp pad thai!
Basil Thai is a wonderful family owned restaurant that take pride in what they make. They are always very friendly and personable.
The food is top notch and always consistent which is key! These guys are doing it right. Can’t wait to come back.
First time at Basil Thai. Shared a shrimp appetizer. It was delicious! I ordered the orange chicken, it was the best I have ever eaten. My husband had the cashew chicken. It's a very intimate setting. Will return to try other dishes.
The food was authentic Thai food. Took me back to Bangkok. Excellent customer service, even had my favorite beer, Chang. Finally we have good Thai food in the cove. The restaurant itself is cosy, but nicely decorated. Casual atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Best thai restaurant in town! Located in La Quinta. you must try it.
Finally, an authentic Thai restaurant in La Quinta!
We saw news about this opening up recently and we live nearby - finally got to eat here on the weekend.
But I'm not here to talk about competitors. I'm here to talk about a fabulous new restaurant in LQ - in the cove/old town area. Basil Thai! It sits between a Chinese and Mexican restaurant in a small space. I think it has a total of 4 or 5 booths and 4 bar stools to sit in. Framed photograph/posters are mounted along the walls depicting scenes from Thailand. I've never been, but my partner had and loved the atmosphere. Fixtures are new.
Business was super slow and the place had one server and at least one person cooking, so we were surprised at how fast the food came out after ordering. We order the basic Pad Thai and Panang Curry with chicken. We also had a cup of Tom Ka Kai. Later the server brought out some sauces (one home made) to add, after my partner asked for it. The home made one was HOT but very yummy. Actually, ALL the dishes were delicious and my partner's quest for the taste of Thailand as she had it in Chang Mai years ago, was fulfilled. Both of us were really happy we ate here.
We ordered from the lunch menu which is cheaper than the regular menu. (Lunch average cost was $13.99 a dish) Portion size is about what we expected. Not too big, but not too small either. We still ended up being stuffed. Rice will do that to you.
I love the location and hope they become busy enough to stay there. We plan to visit at least once a month as a treat to ourselves and slowly eat our way through the entire menu.
The Basil Thai is Absolutely Awesome, Delicious and the Staff Rocks!
Just did take out but the service was great! It smelled so good walking in and the food was equally good. Best Thai food I've had in the valley.

Small Thai restaurant tucked away in the cove by La Quinta Village. if you get a change make some time to this place. It's some of the best Thai food I have had in the valley. Great menu, and will spice it to your liking/ tolerance. Generious portions and delicious tasting. I'd highly recommend.
