"Welcome to Chuan Chim Thai Cuisine"
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to meet and greet an Extraordinary Authentic Thai Food and a dynamic dining experience for you and the whole family.
You could view our menu and order online through our website or make a phone call for ordering and reservation.
Chuan Chim is our go to spot for work lunch. We go so often, I wonder if the servers recognize us yet. We usually get the fresh spring rolls and fried tofu for appetizers (good for gluten-free). For entrees, the favorites are pad see yu with beef, pad thai, pineapple fried rice. My favorite is the fried chicken in the pineapple (see picture) with side of coconut rice. I've also had it with tofu instead. Presentation of the plates are instagram-worthy. Food always come out fast and hot. Service is friendly, depending on the server. Atmosphere is cozy and humming with people enjoying their food and conversation. During the sunny warm days, it's so much nicer eating outdoors. Note: if you're a party of 5+, a 20% gratuity is automatically added (not so cool). Otherwise, great place to eat in Foster City.
The food here is really great! I used to go to another Thai restaurant in Foster City and this place definitely has better food at a more reasonable price. It's also next to the park so this is great for date night as well. I highly recommend any Thai food lover to try them out.
Hands down. This is worth all the good reviews.
I recently moved to the Bay Area and was looking for a new Thai place to call my favorite. I'm super glad I came to this one!
I had the spicy fried rice, and they were all coated well with seasoning. For those who like spice, although this dish is categorized as spicy, it isn't. It's more like a 3 out of 10 for me.
All good. Just ask for chili sauce!
My partner and I had the mango sticky rice as well.
Portion is small but really good if you aren't trying to roll out of a restaurant!
I loved that they fried and salted the mung beans on top of the sweet rice. Together with the semi sour mango, the flavor profile is great!
Definitely recommend giving it a try.
Price is fair for the portion, and the flavors are well done!
10/10! Will be back.
Since moving to San Mateo, it's been hard finding a really good Thai restaurant. Chuan Chim solved that! The food is stellar. Exactly the type of Thai cuisine that I've been looking for. It's flavorful with plenty of your staples, but a fair amount of innovative riffs on classic dishes. Service is great and attentive. I'm excited every time I'm in the area because I can grab a bite here
Incredible place for Thai food with good flavor and friendly staff. They have a TV screen showing all the dishes which is very helpful in selecting, but recommend their crispy pineapple chicken.
Went back for a second time and their Tom Yum was delicious! I found their Pad See Ew to have a burnt flavor, but I would still highly recommend the other food.
So incredibly delicious!! We ordered way too much food, but it was all so yummy. The pad Thai and the pad see you were so good, and the eggplant pork was amazing. The pumpkin red curry was to die for, and so was the fishcake, larb salad, and massaman beef curry. Plenty of seating inside and outside, cute interior and really kind employees! So hospitable and comfortable inside. Really short wait too, absolutely wonderful!

If you voted one lock your windows and check your walls
My favorite Thai restaurant in peninsula. I got a recommendation from a Thai friend and coming here ever since. Pad Thai is a must
Really good Thai food
Tried the chicken satay and beef pad ka prao which were average at best. Expected it to be better cuz of the reviews but the food was not that authentic for being 'Thai' food.
Awesome food. And great presentation.
Got food poisoning after dining here. Feels really bad right now
The food here is really delicious! I enjoyed every dish i tried. The pad thai especially is worth trying out. The stir fry chicken with eggplant was a pleasant surprise. It was so flavorful, seasoned to perfection. I’ve never been a huge fan of eggplant, but it tasted great in this dish. And of course the thai tea was scrumpdidilyumptious.
Additionally, service and atmosphere were great. Super clean and ambient lighting. All the workers were super nice. Such a great experience.
I would come back here again! 😋
This is the best Thai restaurant I've had in the peninsula. Everything we've ordered tasted great. Very dog friendly on the patio for any well behaved pup!
Ordered 3/5 spicy Togo and it was the hottest food I’ve had in years. Beware

Plenty of options and pretty good price!
Party of 4 went for lunch on a Sunday afternoon in July. Needed quick service before a flight, and this was great. One of us wasn't hungry. We had the pineapple fried rice with tofu, the crispy duck lettuce wrap summer special, and the Pad Gra Pow. Last one turned out to be pretty spicy. Everything was good. I had most of the duck, and really liked it.
We lived in Thailand for 5 years, so I'm fussy about Thai food. Chuan Chim is Thai food for American tastes. I ordered the duck noodle soup. It was good, but the broth was a little light. The curry puffs were tasty.
Food always good. Went in one day, and had a bad service experience. The whole process, the server didn’t talk to me at all except when I placed the orders, she repeated “pork?”. No hello, no verbal communication, she pointed me to the table, she put down the menu on the table, “Can I get more water?” She didn’t say anything and turn to get the water. “Can I get the check?” No yes, no ok. She just put the check on the table without saying anything. Very unpleasant experience that day. Their service is usually okay, not super enthusiastic type but still fine. I don’t know what happened on that day.
Basically... just don't bother going. By looking at other reviews, I realized this was not just an off night for them. There are plenty of good Thai restaurants around that *don't* give you bare minimum service with really negative vibes emanating from the staff, creating a really craptastic dining experience.
If you need me to elaborate on this, then here you go.. We went there last night, and from the moment we walked in, it was.. not great. She didn't really greet us (no hellos), so much as looked at us with a pretty unwelcoming RBF (resting b* face). We probably should have walked away right then but we thought maybe it was just the hostess. Nope. It's the *entire* staff. We got there an hour before closing, but from their faces, it might as well have been 15min. It was too much for them to even smile... unless someone was leaving. I was very surprised to hear joy in their voice but then realized they were saying goodbye to people. At first we thought, maybe it's just us or maybe it's because of race? Nope. We looked around and they were like that with everyone else too. Unfortunately, we both had a long day of work, we were hungry, tired and couldn't mentally go against convention and just walk out.
Initially, we had planned to try a bunch of things. Instead, we opted to get the bare minimum and leave ASAP because the ambiance was just awful and we didn't feel like any of this was worth paying more for. We got the combo appetizer and green curry. Both were pretty good, but not good enough for us to want to come back to the RBFs.
As for the service, aside from their perpetual RBFs, they don't have a concept of giving diners some space. There were plenty of empty tables, and they tried to seat us right next to another couple. We all looked at each other awkwardly for a minute before I asked if we could have another table. When we ordered, they were very short and bordering rude. We wanted to start off with a couple things, then maybe add more. She told us that the kitchen was about to close so we needed to decide right then. Nevermind that we were asked about 20min later if we wanted to order anything because.. the kitchen was about to close. When they dropped off the food, they practically threw it on the table. In the background, my partner saw another waitress angrily throwing silverware as she was sorting it. Throughout the meal they didn't ask how things were. They approached us minimally, and every interaction felt pretty uncomfortable, awkward, and, at best, apathetic if not just silently angry.
I love this place. The spice level 5 has met my expectations.
The Pork ribs are a must try. Can't wait to go back!
My dining experience at Chuan Chim Thai was utterly disappointing from start to finish. The hostess, who seemed put out by our mere presence as a party of two, rushed us through our meal as if she had better things to do. My wife was still enjoying her soup when the hostess rudely shoved the bill towards her while I was briefly away.
To add insult to injury, despite us still eating, our table was aggressively cleared because of a sudden influx of diners. Apparently, our presence was an inconvenience amidst their apparent dinner surge. The food itself was passable; the flavors were decent and the presentation adequate, but any enjoyment was overshadowed by the abysmal treatment we received.
Overall, this restaurant left a bitter taste in my mouth—not from the food, but from the shockingly poor service and blatant disrespect shown towards paying customers.
Ordered take out. The flavor of the dishes were excellent. The eggplant dish was very flavorful. Would have enjoyed the meal more if the chicken were consistently tender. Some of the chicken in the pad thai as well as the eggplant stir fry were really rubbery and flavorless. I don't think it's an issue of overcooking or undercooking because other pieces were spot on, perfectly cooked. Perhaps it's a batch of "woody" chicken breast? It made the dishes less enjoyable.
Slap yo mama good! Best Thai food ever and it’s not even close. I say this as someone who LOVES Thai food. It’s so good I seriously thought about it!!!!!!!! Like, why Mom, why? Yes, it is that good!
Quality has gone down. Food is all that matters.
It’s meh!
Fried rice was dry and bland.
Chicken satay was such small portions and not flavorful.
Pad Kee Mao was decent.
Ever dreamed of being yelled at by a waiter just for asking for service? Well, dream no more! Visit this restaurant, where the unique customer service includes being shouted at when you politely signal for assistance. And if you're Asian and looking to spice up your day with a bit of unfair treatment, this is definitely the place for you. It seems that a waiter here have a special way of making certain customers feel 'extra special.' I hate to bring up racism, but let's just say it was hard not to feel targeted based on our experience. Highly recommended if you enjoy a side of discrimination with your meal! One waiter ruin the whole restaurant
Love their food. In my opinion best Thai food in the san mateo county

Just wanted to leave an amazing review, the food is delicious but more importantly the service by May Ng was fantastic, she is so happy, and so wonderful, it’s was hard not to be happy around her. The bartender wasn’t available and she was so empathetic. We just loved her. The Tom Yun is so delicious, pairs so well with the pineapple fried rice!! This place has become a regular Friday dinner for my girlfriend.
Great place to eat 😋
Dining at Chuam Chin Thai Cuisine on a Saturday evening was a delightful experience. We opted for the green curry with chicken and pad see you with beef. The green curry, offering a satisfying heat, was the perfect antidote to the colder weather. However, it was the pad see you that stole the spotlight. Served promptly, the dish showcased a perfect harmony of textures, with flawlessly cooked soft flat noodles complementing the tender beef, Chinese broccoli, and subtly nuanced garlic flavors. Each bite was a symphony of taste, making our visit a truly enjoyable and flavorful affair.
My husband and I dining experience was great. Staff was super friendly, food was hot, spicy and good flavor.
Definitely will be back! ❤️
We sat in the outdoor patio area which is a nice outdoor space with other restaurants and Starbucks nearby. Food was very tasty with adjustable spice level. A large selection on the menus with appetizers, soups, curries, and rice dishes. Service was very friendly and efficient. Mandatory 20% gratuity for 5 people or more.
Awesome food. Veg options are too good such as egg plan stir fry and green curry papaya salad are my favorites…
Good food, easy parking, no lines. Was a tasty and hassle-free experience for a big group meal.
Nothing fancy
Bad papaya salad, average red curry chicken, good green curry tofu … no ambiance :|
I love this place.....best friedrice ever
Excellent food and great service for patio dining for lunch.
Everytime we come here we know we're going to have a good meal! Everything we have ordered has been delicious. Our favorites are the khao soi, pad Thai, taste of Thai chicken, and the mango sticky rice.
pretty tasty food but expensive
Tasty food.
Food is delicious, but prices are steep. And they will try to charge you for each and everything. Adding egg to a dish that typically has it, side of rice is extra, suggested tip amount is 18% min.
Lovely Thai Food place in the area.
Khao Soi and Red Curry were really good!
Khao Soi was not as soupy as seen in most places and was served in a plate instead of a bowl which was a different experience.
My only issue was that their spice levels were not consistent across dishes. They have spice levels 1-5. We ordered all our food with Spice Level 3. And we got our Drunken Flat noodles that were extremely spicy, whereas other dishes were significantly less spicy.
Thank God there is another great Thai restaurant in Foster City. The Tom Kha is some of the tastiest I've had. Another call out in the Panang Beef, slow cooked and well spiced.
But the highlight is the Mango Sticky Rice which is the best I've had outside of Thailand.
I should add that the service matches the food and is top notch.
Food was good.. It arrived quickly as well.. !! Little expensive..!!

Good food and good service.
Below average, especially compared to east bay counterparts
Delicious
Wow! Beautiful indoor ambiance and outdoors seating with patio umbrellas is available as well. The menu has unique offerings that set this restaurant apart from the typical Thai eatery. Food is deliciously authentic says my Thai hubby, though slightly on the saucy & sweet side. Weekday lunch specials are available and add up to ~$20pp. We liked the Cashew Nut with Pork. The Pad Prik King has a touch of spice and is heavy on the lemongrass.
The restaurant started filling up before noon on Thursday and there was a waiting list by 12:30pm! Lovely place to meet up with friends and family.
One of our go-to places in Foster City, the food is always fresh and tasty. Can highly recommend the Pad Kee Mao or Red Curry!
Very cute place.
The pineapple chicken was delicious!
Excellent food, great services, good ambience, full bar....
Best Thai in Bay Area. Khao Soi is incredible. Very lucky to have this place in Foster City!
I ordered a curry entrée to-go from here, there is no rice included. The price is comparable to other places that include rice. I have been to more than 30 Thai restaurants and curry entrees include rice so I think that's common sense enough. Have to order rice separately which is fine, at least highlight to customers in the to-go menu.
TO-GO order the lowest tip amount showed was 18%, then 20%, 25%. Can't say if paying this tip amount is worthy.
Best Thai on the peninsula!
味道很好,强烈推荐红咖喱给喜欢酸笋的朋友。软壳蟹也是比较新鲜。
Amazing thai food in FC! Good quality food and very authentic with very good price. Very nice vibe and the decorations are a plus!
This restaurant is absolutely delightful. The decor and ambiance is beautiful. But let me tell you... the food is mouth-watering delicious. I love Thai Cuisine and this beats a lot of the ones I have tried in the city. We will be back for sure.
This place is awesome! One of my favs in Peninsula area. We love going here and even bring out-of-town guests here. Thank you!
What a gem! This place is just amazing! The food is fantastic and everything just tastes wonderful, presented in the most immaculate way. Service is profesional and very friendly, they always remember you, and remember your food preferences. This place is a must!
Amazing Food! 10/10 Best Thai place in town! So Good ! 👍🏻 Would come here again! I recommend this place.
Best Thai place in town. Way better service and food than sweet basil Thai.
The food is delicious. Very flavorful and fresh! Best Thai in the area.
Medium noise level.
Simply Amazing food ! Nice ambience to sit as well. Every dish we ordered was flavourful and portion size was good. We are definitely going back again ! Highly recommend
Absolutely amazing! When you ask for 5 out of 5 spiciness, they deliver! (I won't recommend 5 out of 5 for everyone though,, we witnessed an old w man who made a scene and complained about how spicy his food was. I mean, you asked for it?!) Please please don’t stop making great SPICY food!
Best Thai food restaurant in peninsula imo!
Best Thai I have ever enjoyed. Excellent flavors, not too spicy. Accommodating, will return and try many other dishes. Simple but elegant decor
Nice Thai place in foster city. We were seated right away on a week night.
Service was a little slow, we did not get water until we placed our order, and they didn’t take our order for 10 minutes.
The food is pretty good. I was surprised that none of the food had a spice level option. Pad thai is on the sweet side but the crispy pork is quite good.
The green curry is very delicious and pairs very well with their coconut rice.
The mango sticky rice dessert was good, but the mango slices are too big to eat with the sticky rice and it was very sour.
Outstanding
This place is getting down. When I sat down at the table, I saw the spoon was dirty and food left over stuck on it. I had to ask for a new set of utensils. Except for the chicken satay and the pad thai were tasty like alway. The rest of the dishes were too salty. Customer service is bad because they often ignore my family when we need assistance. This Thai restaurant used to be very good but not anymore.
Ambiance is great. Having the dishes displayed on a HD TV is a nice touch too. Makes you want to order everything!
Some od the flavors seemed a bit off in a couple of the dishes. The bags of fold were very oily and the cashew beef was bitter. Everything else was fantastic. Crab fried rice was my favorite.
Stopped by for dinner and was very impressed. We ordered the pork Pad Thai, BBQ Chicken, and Pumpkin Curry. Each dish was authentic and blew away my expectations. Food was very tasty! I’ve ordered many Pad Thai dishes, but this one might be the best! The atmosphere was cozy - a very relaxed and modern feel. Staff was friendly and checked on us many times. Prices were reasonable with big portions. Would give more than 5 stars if I could.
Very delicious Thai food with very good portions.
Nice ambience, flavorful food and good service
Pumpkin Curry was good, I asked for mild and it was a pleasantly warm sensation. There was plenty to eat and take some home. Some nice artisan sodas on the menu, my date got the Cherry Cheer Wine. I got a glass of Gewurztraminer, a bit dry and paired well with the curry. Date also got the Pad Cashew Nuts and ate all of it happily. They are in a soft open period, so be patient, but all in all service was fine, a bit of a wait to get a table for two before 6pm, so they are already getting popular!
Great ambience, nice location, good service and professional staff. But the food does not taste like real Thai.
Top notch service. Beautiful decor. Delicious food
The taste is not authentic Thai at all. The tom yum soup is not sour, or spicy or thick. The pad thai is even worse. We came to the US from South East Asia so we want authentic Thai food.
Had the pleasure of eating their royal pad thai that came with prawns and fried tofu. The prawns were big and very juicy. The pad thai was delicious!. Spring rolls are worth trying as well. I ordered these for take out but will go back to eat inside the restaurant. The interior looks very well decorated and a great place to dine in. Very happy that a thai place as good as this one opened up in Foster City. A definite must try.
Addendum: went back literally the next day for lunch and food was even better fresh. Service was great as well! We ordered the salad rolls, green curry fried rice and penang curry spareribs. We also enjoyed their Thai ice tea
Five stars all the way. Best tasting Thai restaurant ever. Their food menu are the best. Reasonable prices and great customer service. Friendly staff and good ambience.
Great new place in Foster City. Food tastes fresh. Attentive service. Will visit again!
Wow!! I waited months for this place to open and it did not disappoint! Was totally blown away by the delicious food we just had! The food was tasty, the service was quick, and our waitress was very very sweet. The location is classy with nice jazz music playing in the background to set the mood. So happy and grateful to have such a great restaurant down the street from my home. Would give them 10 stars if I could!
Very impressed with the decor, food, and presentation.
Ever since we moved to Foster City two years ago, we've struggled to find good Thai food (we're from NYC). Seems like the Peninsula just doesn't do Thai food well. We didn't have high hopes when we saw Chuan Chim under construction but nevertheless when it opened, we had to try it out. We were so pleasantly surprised! The inside is beautifully decorated and the food is fresh and flavorful. They even have fresh coconut which I rarely see. We're so sad to be moving away soon because this would definitely be our go to weekend spot.
