Spicy curries & other familiar Thai fare served in a relaxed setting with traditional decor accents.
Bangkok Thai Cuisine: A Delicious Trip to Thailand
I recently had a fantastic meal at Bangkok Thai Cuisine, and it was a delightful trip to Thailand without leaving town! The Pad Thai was a real standout. It wasn't just delicious, it was perfectly balanced. The sweet, savory, and just a hint of spice all played together beautifully. Every bite was a flavor party in my mouth!
The veggie rolls were another winner. They were incredibly fresh and packed with flavor. The crispy lettuce gave way to a delightful filling making for a satisfying and light starter.
Overall, Bangkok Thai Cuisine impressed me. The food was fresh, flavorful, and authentic-tasting. While I can't speak to the entire menu, both the Pad Thai and veggie rolls were fantastic. If you're looking for a delicious and affordable Thai dining experience, I highly recommend giving them a try!
This was a lovely discovery, we had the pork pad Thai and the tofu pad Thai, however I was curious to try the Thai gravy in one of their dishes. Service was excellent, very friendly and nice folks. I am definitely coming back here, I would love to try other dishes in a group set up.
Bangkok Thai Cuisine on University avenue in Berkeley California served a delicious and meaty beef Panang Curry! I've driven by this restaurant many times but maybe because there's not much parking in the daytime I hadn't dined in this restaurant until recently. I am pleasantly very surprised at how delicious and full of big square thin chunks of tasty beef their panang curry bowl had in it. It had a spicy delicious panang curry sauce with chunks of beef, red and green peppers, plenty of fresh green beans and a few pieces of bay leaf for perfect seasoning. I didn't ask for it spicy or mild so it came normal and although it was perfect for me, some sensitive to people might ask for it to be one spice less.
I thing I want to stress is the dish I got had a good bit of beef in it because unfortunately in my other Google reviews of restaurants I have had to report that most places do not put enough meat in their meat dishes because I think they're trying to save a tiny bit of money but unfortunately the end result is their losing customers.
Their white jasmine rice was also cooked perfectly.
Service - The professional and pleasant waitress that served me that evening should be truly appreciated by their management. She greeted me with a big smile and was extremely pleasant and happy to deal with throughout my meal and was also on top of all aspects of her job including things like repetitively filling up my water and answering my questions. I wish all waiters and waitresses were as professional and friendly as she was.
Atmosphere- The interior atmosphere was fine and the bathroom was clean, which is always a good sign. And I actually liked the layout design of the long front window straight aisle. If you have read this far I want to prove that this isn't a insider / fake review so trying to find some type of negative I would think that the outside of restaurant storefront could use a makeover or maybe some new colorful store named or lunch or dinner deal advertisement type night lights. Maybe it's just in my mind but I don't think the outside of this restaurant has changed much, if at all, in a long time.
Tldr review: I think you'll save a few dollars going for their Many lunchtime specials but anytime of day that they are open you're going to get a delicious meal and good service!
Went to lunch here today. It's a small place. Friendly staff.
Their food is so good. Today I ordered the chicken skewers with peanut sauce. Chicken tender and juicy. The sauce was so good.
They also give you a little cucumber salad soaked in a vinegar and sugar. That was good.
My friend ordered the Tom Kha soup with coconut milk. I thought it was good. Not really worth 13.00 dollars. He also ordered shrimp wraps. I personally do not like them. The sauce had hoisin sauce which I do not care for. He liked them.
I have tried the curries red and yellow which were amazing.
I would recommend this place. Food is so good.
Well... I was going to give this place 3 stars for their sub-par thai food and lack of service, but upon returning home and finding our curry togo container after eating was a paper cup with a plastic lid on it... The review fell to a 2.
Pad thai was very bland with mostly tofu and hardly any chicken, mango red curry also bland with no strong flavor whatsoever, massaman was the best thing but even that had a slightly off flavor, cashew tofu our friend had was also relatively bland. The best thing was the thai golden bags, however although I liked them, the rest of our party was not a fan.
I would not go back here... For the large variety of thai restaurants in the area, there are many other options. The service was super slow, food was bland, and overall not a great experience.

Really nice Thai foods!! Staffs are kind and thoughtful. Especially coconuts soup is good! Friendly to children:)
I love this place. Such a cozy inside.
I used to really like this place...20 years ago, but after last night's ( if you wanna call it a) meal, Hell 2 the No. Pad Thai had 0 chicken, and I should have known it was going to be horrible when I noticed the shrimp looked kinda glazed, which is a typical look for undercooked shrimp, and lo and behold, at 3 am here comes the shivers,Nausea, fever, AKA food poisoning, so I would highly advise you to stay the hell away from this place, and the other key factor, I was the only customer there..at 8pm 😕

Good but not great. Excellent service.
My favorite Thai restaurant in Berkeley! I’ve been dining here for many, many years and just love this gem of a restaurant. The crispy calamari is my family’s favorite appetizer, and we love the eggplant dishes, green curry, and pra ram. The Thai iced tea is exceptionally good as well. Don’t know what I would do without this special hub in the neighborhood.
Great food for a good cost.
Despite how many Thai spots there are locally, it's hard to find a great one. Bangkok is super tasty and my go-to! We like the golden bag appetizer. Their curries are delicious and not too sweet.
Yummy lunch specials. Flavorful. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Service is timely. Pumpkin curry is so very good
I don't know what went wrong tonight, if anything, but there was not one dish that was tasty. $100 of blandness, tough dry meats and poorly made food. Portions also seemed smaller for some dishes.
Green papaya salad, how spicy? They asked me and I said very. Great job,
Was standard quality. Not great, not terrible. Seems a bit overpriced. Go to imm up the street instead.
I was very happy with the Thai Basil Chicken dish here. Not too oily, and tasted great. Filling portion size.
This place was amazing I used to come here all the time (early 2000's). Can't wait to come back and eat here again!
Eating the seafood pad see-ew right now and it is incredible. I was running errands so it sat for 40 minutes and was still delicious and hot when I got home. It has a generous portion of seafood (and just a good size overall — I’ll have leftovers) and the noodles have the perfect soft-but-chewy texture. Really good. I’ll be ordering again for sure.
Less about the food, but it was also ready quickly and the person taking my to-go order was friendly and offered me water while I waited. So, I imagine dining in would also be a nice experience.
The Thai Chicken Soup is absolutely amazing 🤩
Food is healthy, not too greasy. I love the mango fried rice. Shrimp is hood. On time and polite
Their Website Menu is ' Either Limited or Non-Existent !!! Oh I think I just remembered...
There are ' Crooked Menu Photos ' that are hard to Read !!!
I used to eat there a whole ago.
Lunch Special Plates are w good Deal.
They do need to work on ' A New Website Menu ' for their own ' Marketing.
I called to tell them - offer feedback, but the guy on the fone was a bit curt.
I asked about ' Lunch Sprcials ' ,,
To Improve Business ' !!!!
I called and the guy seemed rushed. He said ' Cannot talk Lunch Menu on the Dinner Shift ', but I remember the food being good ' Pre - Pandenic ' - with Lunch Specials !!!
My new favorite Thai food
Great Thai place in Berkeley, been coming here over 20yrs. Very unassuming, but has authentic tasting food. Favs are Angel Wings and Garlic Chicken with sticky rice.
Flavorful food, variety on dishes. Loved their papaya salad and dessert sticky mango rice. Yummy. Good portions
Delish curries especially the Bangkok spicy fish!!! Perfect mix of curry sauce and generous amounts of fish and vegetables. Best pad kee mao and BBQ pork ever. Consistently outstanding food, reasonable prices, good portions and the staff is gracious. Great local dining for Berkeley. A family favorite.
Love mango everything. Easy to order from website and food is always delicious
Great place for authentic Thai food, plus their soup broths taste amazing
Good
I love it there from the room and the customer service great establishment
Always friendly, fresh dishes, the penang curry is a definite favorite.
I regret ordering from here.
Go an extra few blocks to Imm down the street if you want really good Thai food made with love.
Love it great food and great staff but little guys and weirdos
Best Thai in East Bay!
Great food and fast service!

Really cute sitting. Amazing food and great service. They have the best Pad see ew I've had.
Excellent food there.
Excellent service, great food! I had the enchiladas with green sauce. They were amazing. They make a really good Cadillac Margarita too!
Best soup
Good food, nice people, good place
Great takeout
Omg! That food is delicious.
Both the red and yellow curry were delicious and creamy. We also tried the Thai Golden Bags... YUM. The salad and cucumber salad that came with were also amazing. The young fresh coconut juice was so so refreshing. The staff was super kind and prompt. Would definitely return if I am ever in the area again! Thank you!!
This was a lovely discovery, we had the pork pad Thai and the tofu pad Thai, however I was curious to try the Thai gravy in one of their dishes. Service was excellent, very friendly and nice folks. I am definitely coming back here, I would love to try other dishes in a group set up.
Chicken Curry is excellent and spiced to you liking!
This is one of my favorites, but I'm not sure if there is new staff or management but their customer service was not good on my last trip. But food wise 5 🌟's
I've been coming here for 3 years now and have definitely fallen in love with the place. Latest obsession is the wanton soup.
Went to lunch here today. It's a small place. Friendly staff.
Their food is so good. Today I ordered the chicken skewers with peanut sauce. Chicken tender and juicy. The sauce was so good.

I would recommend this place. Food is so good.
Great service and food. I get the eggplant with tofu and it's spiced just right.
I have eaten here so many times that I need to write this review. My boyfriend and I LOVE this place and we have yet to have a bad meal or food item. We unfortunately end up spending a lot of money here, but mostly due to our inability not to gorge ourselves on yummy food! Service is generally quick and friendly! Love their Thai iced tea and yellow curry, which are easily my go-tos when I'm there. Their chicken satay is also pretty great! All in all, this is a really solid Thai restaurant.
Absolutely the worse Thai food I've ever eaten. Shocking how poor the quality and the preparation of the food was. It's been more than a week since we ate here and I just can't shed the memory of how this place could survive in a City with so many superior restaurants. The service was just fine.
Great food! Need more hours.
I love this place!...sweet staff, great food, reasonable prices...neighborhood gem!
Super delicious every time. Love their curries, especially the seafood green curry. Pad see ew and BBQ pork are good too.
Delicious fresh food, great staff and service, good portions and reasonably priced
They are so sweet here!! They give your kids place mats with kid plates, forks, spoons and sippy cups as soon as you sit down. Mad us feel so welcomed. Food is always on point here.
Good Thai food made spicy and open late. Very friendly staff.
Worst experience today! I went there because this use to be good food. I ordered Vegan Pad Thai with tofu, Vegan Pumpkin Yellow Curry with Tofu,Red curry with Tofu. I specifically asked them make it vegan, no eggs, no fish sauce no oyster sauce. I had ordered to go.To my surprise when I got food home, pad that has eggs in it!!! I called them, guy from restaurant said you said no fish sauce you didn't say no eggs!!! I said I specifically said make it Vegan!! He asked me to bring that back, I drove again obviously I was unhappy. Another thing, they charged me extra for Yellow curry with Tofu, extra $ for Tofu, and there was no tofu in curry at all!! When I went again to give Egg pad Thai back, that guy didn't even apologize he argued with me that I didn't say eggless, I said I repeatedly said that plus make it vegan, he said vegan doesn't mean no egg!!!!! What kind of vegan dictionary these people has!! They are in restaurant business and they don't know basic definition!!! And he argued with me that it was by fault!! When I mentioned about extra charge for tofu in yellow curry and no tofu at all, he argued " well when it says yellow curry with tofu means mix veggies in curry" I was like" so that means there suppose to be tofu in it?" He didn't even apologize in fact he was trying justifying how curry has vegetable in it!! So rude, so disappointment! Guess it's by bye bye to this place for sure
Btw yellow curry has so much turmeric I could hardly taste coconut milk in the curry in front of that turmeric!!
Delicious! Reasonable priced, pleasantly and promptly served.
Best Pra Ram Tofu in the East Bay. Get extra peanut sauce - you'll thank me later. We also love the tom ka soup, vegetarian with tofu.
You will not be disappointed. Their food is delicious.
The pad kee mao is delicious! Staff is friendly. Great value considering the low prices.
I have been going here for 11 years. I still love it. I would definitely recommend it.
Great food, service and value.
This is an iced chai restaurant a little inconsistent
The pad see ew is served with broccoli crowns.
Solid Thai classics with friendly service. Vegetarian friendly, but be sure to specify no fish sauce.
Wonderful food, gracious service!
Good lunch spot! Good food, quick and friendly service.
The service was fast, the food was amazing and the prices are good.
My husband was impressed, so I had to write a review. He isn't an adventurous eater. He's a meat and potatoes guy. So, when he suggested Thai food on our way back from a Giants game, I jumped on it! I rolled the dice on which Thai restaurant to go to, and I'd say we hit the jackpot. We had a dample.platter type appetizer (can't remember the name, sorry) with chicken satay and other items. Perfect for 2 people. We then split a Pad Thai. I chose that plate because in my opinion ion, if that isn't good then the rest probanly won't be. My husband loved it! He even wanted the leftover pad Thai and ordered more spring rolls to take home with us. He has tried Thai restaurants in our town and didn't like any of them, so this was really saying something.
Decent service but the food tasted awful and they got my order wrong
Delicious Thai foods
Food was delicious however, small portions when to go. Prices are reasonable decor and customer service is great and many different plates to choose from.
Love the golden bags.
Food's good...service, not so good
Good food, but it takes 'em too long to serve you😞
Really a 4.5 but that's not an option. Consistently good food, fast service. The curries are tasty but not exceptional.
I love this place is delicious! Customer service is great! Thanks
Great food, affordable prices, authentic cultural ambiance
note to self: really excellently spicy po tak.
Quiet place with good food and friendly folks.
Very very nice people, good food, warm, cozy, friendly atmosphere, family style, very nice presentation of delicious dishes. We've been coming here for decades.
Good green curry
Middle of the road flavor for below average prices.
Bad food
I must come here at least weekly, it's just wonderful comfort Thai food. It's some of the best Thai in the Bay Area, the portions are great, everyone that works there is super friendly and we're just never disappointed. Particular highlights are mango fried rice which I've never seen anywhere else and is absolutely delicious, the eggplant with chicken, and the chicken with cashew nuts. I really like some of their soups too, fresh spicy and tasty. I think the only thing we've ever not been excited about was seafood fried rice. Everything else we've ever ordered (most of the menu by now) is just great.
Great did, great advice, been coming to this place for years I haven't had a single dish I wouldn't taste a 4 or 5 out of 10
not good for gluten-free
Personal go to Thai spot. Pineapple Shrimp fried rice is perfection on a plate.
I am eating in this place since 2006, couple of times a year. They have maintained their quality and quantity pretty good. Service is good and friendly. There are several dishes, which are really good. Another good poo r is parking. Available at the back.
Their curries are excellent
sooo disappointing!!! The worst Thai food everrrrrrr. :(
Very good! and good prices!
Don't understand the rave reviews. The food is just...sad. Disappointed. IMM, a few blocks down, is way better than this place.
Great service and decent food at a reasonable price.
Not as good as IMM down the street but decent.
Consistently good food and good prices. I go here often for lunch with coworkers and everyone likes it.
Great food
Try the spicy seafood salad. Ly's favorite.
This is one of our favorite Thai restaurants in Berkeley. The food is terrific and the staff is very respectful.
Below average Thai food.
Fantastic food.
Great duck curry here!
Fantastic taste, did not expect this good from a general Thai place, really recommended.
