Thai & Japanese small & shared plates alongside an extensive sushi selection in a no-frills space.
Why aren’t there are more combination sushi and Thai food restaurants? The best of all foods in one place. I needed a quick lunch and ordered pad siew. If you are a fan of this classic Thai dish all you need to do is look at my photo to see how packed it is with vegetables.
While I do not live near the restaurant I anticipate coming back here to enjoy the food and try the sushi!
Nice breezy outdoor seating.
Now this is a remarkable place that combines the best of Japanese and Thai food. It may not look like much and people might want to call it a “hole in the wall” but they do deliver the goods. It may even be one of Alameda’s best kept secrets. The lemon curry chicken paired with Sapporo easily hit the spot.
The wine selection could be better but you can always bring your own (for a corkage fee).
As Arnie would say “I’ll (definitely) be back.”
Good was YUMMY! I was eyeing the seared tuna salad... but that tuna tataki had the "main event" ingredients I was craving. Added a small green salad to create the effect I was looking for. Also had the soft shell crab. Two apps and a side made the perfect indulgent experience I was looking for.
Plus my homie, the Rottweiler puppy, got to hang with me in the outdoor area too!
I ordered 2 things. I couldn't help but eat both completely. The chirashi bowl was refreshing. The quality of the fish was great and the presentation beautiful. I forgot to take a picture of the mountain beef, but the vegetables were fresh and colorful. The beef and curry gave great flavor without overpowering your palate with spice.
It is a neighborhood kind of Japanese and Thai restaurant. I enjoy the Sapporo and Hamachi sushi. I didn’t order enough to sample different fish. I can imagine though you will get a more authentic Thai food experience here. Wil update if I get a chance to try more variety. Seems like they do have a decent selection of sushi rolls. You can sit outdoor. The area is quiet and so it is quite pleasant even though the seating is next to a parking area. Would come back for more.
Update: there seems to be changes with kitchen but last time we went it was great. 4 stars because it’s not consistent.
Used to be fantastic but recently they’ve made changes to the menu and food that are just not worth it.
I orders a Praram w chicken and it was sad to say the least. The chicken was boiled then put on top of steamed frozen vegetables with a thick peanut sauce. The chicken was dry, tasteless and sad. The veggies were mushy and the sauce has barely any flavor. My dad orders a Shirashi and the rice was not sushi rice, so essentially just sashimi on regular steamed rice with no flavor at all.
Sad. Used to be a great spot with good food and good prices, now it’s just bland, boring and expensive for the quality you actually get.
Amazing plase
The food was great and delicious and the service was excellent. The atmosphere is nice and cozy.
Came here on a Monday evening. The sashimi and miso soup was the best I’ve had in a long time bar none. I will return here when I’m back in town.
I order the same thing every time, but recently added something new and their rolls are so fresh & tasty.
My favorite place to get sushi on the island! The Lion King, Gamson, and Lemon Salmon are my favorite! The rolls are reasonably priced for the amount of food you receive. There's always plenty of seating available. Free parking in the lot or on the street.
I’ve ordered from here for years, I tip on takeout orders. I always order Thai iced tea with no ice. Today the server FEEM F filled up my cups not even 3/4 of the way full. I asked her to fill it up all the way and she hesitated before filling it up. And when she brought it back it STILL wasn’t filled all the way. They want to be cheap over 1-2 ounces of tea, not worth your time or money.
For the money, it's a total waste. I had the Bento Box and the chicken was very dry and it was just plain not worth it.
Got takeout from here and was fairly disappointed. The salmon was stringy and the roll was mostly rice and not balanced with enough fish.
A comfortable and pleasant place to have a good meal.
Say hi to nix. Get the mago pie.
Our first time there and definitely going back! Won ton soup was yummy! Garlic noodles weren't necessarily garlicky, but so good anyway! Chicken katsu! They were so nice, too!
Food was good.. Loved the peanut sauce
Great food, Friendly server (Feem) and good value for money in comfortable neighborhood with plenty of parking!
Great fusion food ....textures are delicious. Freshness is unmatched.
The chicken curry tasted pre-frozen and was chewy watery and overall poor. Sushi was OK. All in all was not what i expected for the price.
Wonderful neighborhood restaurant with Thai + Sushi combination. Has nice indoor and outdoor space, and easy parking.

Huge portions and delicious 🍣😄
Good food and excellent service!
Quaint restaurant with affordable lunch specials and good variety
The food is excellent. The prices are good except for the Bento boxes are $25 plus. It's a small eatery but nice enough.
I always order takeout from Bluefin - they're my go-to in the area for great sushi and Thai dishes. I love their miso soup, Tom Kha (coconut milk) soup, Crazy Salmon Roll, Bagel Roll, Hamachi Roll, and Salmon Nigiri. They have seating available and great service for dine-in as well.
Food was delicious, staff was pleasant. Portions were good, we ate too much, an enjoyed it all.
Randomly visited this place on our way back to San Jose and thank God we stopped by for dinner. The food and the staff were amazing!
Meal portions were average but the taste was top notch.
We’ve eaten at Blue Fin many times and the food is always excellent, both Japanese and Thai. Great service too.

I forgot to take a picture of the mountain beef, but the vegetables were fresh and colorful. The beef and curry gave great flavor without overpowering your palate with spice.
Online ordering via their website worked beautifully, order was ready exactly at the expected time. The sushi was all fresh and well presented (especially for take-out) and the red Thai curry was super tasty with the shrimp perfectly done and spicy without being overpowering.
Will be adding this to our take-out rotation and likely also use the outside seating that has been added.
There’s not too many good sushi restaurants in alameda until I came across Bluefin Sushi Thai! We got a little bit of everything and it was spectacular. Omakase, chirashi bowl, dragon roll? All hit the spot just the way I needed it to. Come check out this really good and fresh sushi spot!
Great food
The meals were all good
Great option for sushi!
This is my neighborhood sushi joint - delivery is very quick and the service is excellent. Both sushi and Thai food are delicious.
Sushi and Thai together at last!!! Sushi tasted fresh as did the Thai soup and entrees. Will be coming back!
Today, my families and I went to bluefin sushi and Thai for lunch, we were very exciting at first. The outdoor dining was very comfortable and clean. We order top roll, lion king roll, beef teriyaki bento box, beef Udon, everything was great at first, the food looks delicious, we ate a few sushi until we found a hair!!!!! in the beef teriyaki bento box which is very very disgusting, it was under the beef inside the vegetable. The hair is about four inch long, it was black. And I went in to call the waiter. when she came out, she saw the hair, at first she look at my mother and thinks that the hair inside was hers. There is no way that the hair was her because it was black, my mom's hair was brown. and we felt very disappointing and angry. And we have have seen some comments before going to eat, I saw how someone commented that there was hair in the sushi roll, we thought that was an accident. Unluckily, it has happen to us. We thought that it was a one time accident thing. Now I really don't trust this restaurant, and I will never never never come back again!!!!!!!!!
Great food! I've come twice now and will definitely be back for more since it's really close to a friend's place. Outdoor seating is great and take away has been a breeze. I love the thai food!

This is tragic. We have probably ordered food here around 15 or 20 times in the last year. Bluefin used to be the best quality sushi in Alameda, and frankly just delicious all around. These days, the quality has slipped so far that it's not even worth it anymore. Inconsistent sweetness in the rice, rolls sliced in random thicknesses, one roll stuff with fish, the next basically only rice, rolls that fall apart when you pick them up. On top of that, you have to order without pickled ginger because the rolls will soak up the juice and you have to repack your order because they put cold sushi on top of hot food in the bag (nobody wants hot sushi).
I am wondering if the owner changed or something, but it's simply not what it was even last year.
Best go to or order out Thai in Alameda! Very under rated in my eyes or taste palette. Crab fried rice probably the best fried rice or food period. I work in hospitality and I’m used to fine dinning, but I crave crab fried rice all the time, Bluefin’s version.
This place was very small with a little parking lot and some heat lamps. Though it was too cold, heat lamps or not. The soup was tasty and the edamame was good but I think their rolls were lacking. Nothing too extravagant but a good place to get your quick sushi fix!
Sushi is very fresh. I ordered sashimi (Tuna and Salmon) and a few rolls (Tuna Roll and Philly Smoked Salmon Roll). The family that works there are friendly and nice. Service with a smile.
Next time i visit i will try the Thai food. I have been to Thailand multiple times.

Nice breezy outdoor seating.
Some of the dishes appearsto be a Japanese-Thai fusion. We had their Bento Box dinner special and it was very good and a good value
Very bad customer service, you guys you deserve double 00 star

Great service!! Food was really good, had thai and sushi, a little expensive for portion size though is my only complaint!! Great little place.
Great place to bring the family to any occasion!
not good at all, maybe I just came on a bad day
The food here is excellent! Friendly staff too.
Excellent food and service.
Large portions and fresh food. Sups are rich and spicy, yummy. Had sushi rolls and sashimi as well. Absolutely awesome place. NZ Sauvignon is semisweet and smooth. Perfect with fish.
Great food good service
Nice service, sat outside and food was delish!! Sashimi was fresh!
Good sushi and nice staff.
This place has really disappointed me for service and quality of food. I have heard nothing but wonderful things about this place and finally decided my family should give it a try. First the staff tried to deny that I had even placed an order for my husband to pick up, stating they had no order for “Michelle,” but after showing them the order details on grub hub, they found it. We were separating the dinner for our kids at home when I notice the 2 sushi orders were in the same plastic box. I thought that was weird because I’ve never had any other restaurant “mix” food, especially more recently due to Covid, but shrugged it off. I noticed the super dragon roll was not in tact and the food just didn’t look like I had imagined or seen on their advertisements. Luckily, I trusted my instinct and looked over the food again only to find a hair inside on the roll; grey or blonde. As I pulled out the hair, my children 3 and 5, became more dramatic and disgusted asking me what it was that I was pulling out of their food. I explained that it was a hair and that we had to return all of the food to the restaurant. Upon contacting the restaurant, they thought the only appropriate action would be to remake the food with an issue. They were reluctant over the phone and in-person to provide me with a full refund, but I cannot imagine how we can believe the other food or ANY FOOD from this restaurant is safe. At the very least, they could have acknowledged the mistake and apologized. Instead, they tried to make me feel like I was not entitled to good service or quality food once I placed the order online for pick-up. I returned all of the food and made sure to put the hair in a plastic bag for the owner/manager. They said my refund would take up to 7 days.
Really GOOD!!
Our go-to sushi place in Alameda - they never disappoint, always fresh fish and yummy rolls! Thank you Bluefin and we are so glad to be supporting a local alameda restaurant during these tough times.
Good service and excellent food
The tuna had an old, sketchy, bad fishy taste. Didn't inspire confidence in a place selling raw fish. The other sashimi was surprisingly good, considering the state of the tuna.
I was in the mood for some Thai food and my family, in some sushi. I was pretty disappointed in the Thai food but my family enjoyed the sushi.
Great curry!
Great food. Not too big of a fan of the volcano dragon. I'm from Sacramento area and was expecting it to be not too different than central valley. It could just be locational differences. The Bluefin roll and dragon roll were awesome. Fried chicken over fried rice was great as well as the satay. The fried calamaris looks like onion rings, and not too appetizing, but they were delicious. Outside had cute ambiance with fire lamps. Not slot of seating. Really cute place though. It is next to a grocery store. I went at night to pick up my order so the store was closed, not sure how the environment is when the grocery store is open. Anyway, cute place, great food.
Food wasn’t that great
Their Bento Box is a good deal .
They have a mix if thai food and sushi.
The service & meal in a whole was truly delicious; however my daughter’s drunken noodles were quite cold.
Highly recommended. Told my daughter to speak up next time.
Food was good and worth it for the most part. But the down side, I had a gift card. I asked TWICE if they accepted Amex gift cards, the lady said yes. But when I went to pay the bill she told me the card did not work
Hi everyone,
I like the sushi. Pretty reasonably priced and good quality. However I just order Thai for the first time. I ordered the yellow curry, Thai fried rice, and the Tom yum soup. Everything was tasteless. This restaurant should just be a sushi restaurant.
On chilly days I always get the Tom yum soup, warm days it's the Larb with chicken! They also have the 2nd best pumpkin curry I've had in the East Bay. Service is solid and friendly and the restaurant is very clean
Excellent thai and japanese mix...so many menu choices.....not to be missed
Great food
Soooo! Good FRESH!
Great service and equally great food !!
I'm a simple guy! Nice little place!
The mixed rice was very good. Paradise chicken very disappointing. Was supposed to have stir fried chicken, but instead, if it contained some thin strips of something fried beyond any nutritional value.
Delicious! This place was really cute and service was great! We got two sushi rolls and Thai iced tea which, all of which were excellent. Would absolutely come back for another lunch date.
The meso soup is taste of heaven and it comes with any selection of meal. A cozy quiet place of tasty Japanese food!
Vueno
Food is ok, flavors not as vibrant as in better Thai places. For my takeout order they said it'll take 15-20 minutes but took 25-30.
This place never disappoints and with a recent renovation, it feels even nicer!
Good neighborhood restaurant. Newly remodeled. Good variety of Thai and Japanese food.
Great food every time. Highly recommended
SO GOOD. Try the lemon salmon roll. Newly remodeled.
I love this place. My daughter always want California roll while my son always ask for pad see ew. The food here is very good and consistent The avocado salad is off the hook. There's many vegetarian options here as well. Everything is just very tasty. Highly recommended. The service is also very good and attentive.
VERY friendly staff even us with baby and all. Food was good will stop in again. Warning for staff 😃
Good quality good amount
Love the place, always fresh fish, staff always nice and helpful.
The seafood salad was fantastic! There was MUCH more variety of fish in the dish than described in the menu and the portion size is abundant. I couldn't believe how reasonable the price for the quality and amount of fish in this dish. I'd most definitely order this again.
Great sushi place and fresh options. A hidden gem worth to find
Awesome food. Superb service.
Great food and great staff.
Nice for lunch...
One word... DELICIOUS!
I had a very tasty dinner here.
Nice fresh fish. Great fish-to-rice ratio. The service was good. Price was great. I recommend a variety of sushi. I would happily eat here again.
Love my BlueFin restaurant. Great food and service. Totally worth going too eat. Perfect lunch menu.
Good clean tasting food
Great job of Thai Japanese fusion, good service and reasonable prices!
Great selection of Japanese and Thai food. Good portion size
Great combo restaurant!
Food is very good and they have good lunch specials.
Yummy, but sometimes very busy
Great food, good prices and excellent service. One of the best sushi places in Alemeda.
Amazing food every time...and good prices too! The Thai Iced Tea is to die for. The Chicken Satay is tender and juicy. The sushi is wonderful. The soups are incredible. Must try when you are in Alameda. Bonus that they are right across from Feel Good Bakery on Encinal where you can get killer pastries to take home.
One of my fav eclectic eats on Alameda Island. Japanese food is better than Sushi House the standard on Alameda and Thai food is also very good. Friendly staff and live sports are on a couple of big TVs. Love the Bento box with Thai and Japanese in one. Very reasonably priced and quality sashimi. Recommended
Great service, fresh food, great prices
