Diner Review №1

The food was incredible, so authentic, and such large quantities! Best Thai Food

Diner Review №2

This is my favorite Thai place! Crispy Basil Chicken! I took the class here and learned how to make it! But eating here is amazing! It’s the food that you can’t help but close your eyes with that first bite!

Diner Review №3

My food here was very good. I had drunken dragon which was chicken mince in lettuce cups that you create yourselves.

My husband had chow mein with prawns, chicken and Chinese sausage. The sausage was delicious but fried to within an inch of its life, the chicken was dry and the prawns were a bit fishy.

However the issue was really about the service. It was so slow that after prompting them to take our orders and no one came out (we were seated outside) we almost got up and left. The same with after our meal. No one came near us. We had to look for someone so we could pay. The staff couldn’t care a less.

Diner Review №4

Best food ever! My favorite restaurant in the world. I come here every birthday.

Diner Review №5

Very good Thai food, served with a side order of personality.

Diner Review №6

Food was below average, service good, pad Thai was awful.

Diner Review №7

A bit on the pricy side, especially for lunch. Good Thai food in Old Town Scottsdale, which explains the pricing. Been going to Mali's off and on for a few decades, and it's always a great meal.

Diner Review №10

Best Thai food I have ever had! The taste and presentation of the food was great, staff was very friendly and we all had a few laughs. Highly recommend!

Diner Review №11

Need to go back, first time we don't know what to expect. Food was good and fresh!

Diner Review №12

Best pad thai since leaving Thailand!

Diner Review №13

Try the fresh rolls!! Great service

Diner Review №15

I have no idea what was just in my mouth, but I definitely broke at least one tooth and it looks like the foot of a small animal. 😤🤬🫣😄

It was delicious up until then.

Diner Review №16

Food is really good. Did not care for the coconut shrimp though. Too chewy. Otherwise delicious. Great service and large restaurant with plenty of seating.

Diner Review №17

Vielen dank

Diner Review №18

We used to come here all the time, way back when, and have so many fond memories of this restaurant. We kept coming occasionally for nostalgic reasons and the great food (of course). It's now under new new ownership and unfortunately I don't think we'll be coming back. They redid the interior and now it's open with bright and cold lighting and distracting TVs everywhere. The place feels cheap. The food went downhill as well. The Tom Kha Gai soup was good, but thicker than it should be. My curry was ok, not great. The satay meat was mushy. Not a great experience and such a bummer. The only thing that saved it was the service, which was good.

Diner Review №19

Green Basil Curry is mild, Stir fried Basil Eggplant was delicious but little sweet and salty.
Kieren was attentive and courteous.

Diner Review №20

Pretty big portions and tasty

Diner Review №21

Pleasant atmosphere, and reception. Chicken satay is decent, yet a bit dry. Tom Ka Gai was probably the least authentic Ive had in years. Its missing a real Thai touch.

Diner Review №22

Diner Review №23

Honestly everything was great just seemed a bit pricey. Maybe it's just me. But service and everything was on point.

Diner Review №24

Diner Review №25

Great food, equally terrific service/atmosphere.

Love me some Malee's

Diner Review №26

Absolutely love Malee’s! I’ve been going here for over 10 years and I love seeing the same people there and the consistency in service and food. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. My personal favorites are the fire wraps, crispy pla and the crab Rangoon.

Diner Review №27

I had a taste for Pad Thai and Malee's delivered. It includes both chicken and shrimp, and you get to choose the level of spice. I got chili sauce on the side so I could spice it to my liking.
At first it appeared watery but once you mix it up, all is good. This really hit the spot and I would definitely come back here without hesitation.

Diner Review №28

reception woman not there twice (entry and when i wanted chopsticks). noodles undercooked and almost hard. pork overcooked and not tender. appetizer weird shumai thing "siamese kisses" tastes like reheated freezer food. doubt that the chef is Thai or the owner just doesn't care about food quality given the prime location and American clientele. server didn't know what Pad Kee Mao is and barely knew drunken noodles.

does not deserve 4+ stars so i'm rating harshly to balance the average... came for lunch. not very busy but a big space. i'll try other thai places before i come back here as an absolute last resort. given the surrounding fine art scene i would have expected better taste exhibited in authentic Asian food.

Diner Review №29

I was disappointed with our lunch yesterday. Somehow they forgot to add spice to both of our meals although we both ordered medium hot. My dish wasn't very hot, temperature wise. We were brought takeout boxes. My dish leaked all over although the box was upright, it was more liquid than the other. They should have given me the plastic containers that we used for the rice and pasta. I asked for rice but was given the pasta! I had faith that it wouldn't leak although my friend said it might . Very disappointing as I took my friend here because it's one of my favorites dining out options.

Diner Review №30

The appetizers and the main dishes were outstanding! The service was great too!

Diner Review №31

Diner Review №32

Gone downhill with new owners. Prices up and quality down along with authenticity.

Diner Review №33

Great location in Old Town Scottsdale. Very attentive service, the peanut curry was great!

Diner Review №34

Definitely not authentic Thai flavors but serving sizes are huge. But definitely not true Thai flavors.

Diner Review №35

Had lunch with a bunch of folks I went to high school with in Bangkok. We love this place! Excellent food, super friendly staff.

Diner Review №36

Diner Review №37

Diner Review №38

Didn't enjoy any of their food.

Diner Review №39

Absolutely delicious! Large portions. Friendly staff. My go to for Thai food.

Diner Review №40

Tom Kha was really good but everything else was pretty average

Diner Review №41

Food was good and very fresh. I can't eat a lot of spicy food. The soup has a slight kick so does the noodles but not enough to bother me. But definitely order the lowest spice possible.

Portions are huge. We had two days of leftovers for two people.

They were out of the mussels in the seafood medley so I would suggest making sure they have what you order first. They did deliver it to the table without knowing. It's an addition $12

Also, had the crab puffs 2/10 didnt care for the sauce and the siamese kisses 9/10

The soup was my favorite!! Tom Ka Gai 10/10

In the pics Drunken Dragon Noodles sub carrots for broccoli 10/10

Other plate had the seafood medley 8/10

Diner Review №43

We eat Thai on every vacation and Malee’s did not disappoint. In fact, between the service and the next level food, we left wishing we lived here so we could come time and again. We ordered the Summer rolls which were fresh and well balanced. But the show stopper was the Burma Gai which we got with both white and dark meat. It was a meal we didn’t want to end and we savored every bite. It was full of flavor and the perfect meal. You MUST go here! It won’t disappoint.

Diner Review №44

There was a hair in my food and my fried is a vegetarian and was served meat. This place has five stars because the reviews are written by Caucasians who love inauthentic whitewashed bland food. You’ll find good authentic Thai food in Tempe and Phoenix like Thai Basil.

Diner Review №45

Really great service. Had a really good meal.

Diner Review №46

Your food is great but the word around town from regulars who have been coming to Malee’s for over twenty years is you have out priced yourselves. In over a year you raised your price three times. You charge for rice where any Thai restaurant you order curry it comes with rice. You have taken off many menu items that were great. Before the season kicks off you need to rethink your menu and the pricing. Need a cheaper lunch menu. If your prices were adjusted you would have your old clients back in a few times a week not just once every few weeks. Something to think about.

Diner Review №47

Poor service! Our server had to be reminded to come by in spite of eye contact multiple times. She did not give any recommendations when asked about several dishes, her response was a yes or no with a flat expression. Server paid better attention to the table next to us, didn’t give us a comfortable feeling of being welcomed at the restaurant being brown skinned.

Food quality was bad. ‘Stir fry spicy Thai cashew with beef’ way too soupy and thin consistency. Crispy chicken with basil totally lacked flavor. Would never recommend this place to anyone.

Diner Review №48

Never had a bad meal here and I've been coming here for years. Every dish is so flavorful.

I recommend the drunken noodles and the yellow curry. Both are excellent

Diner Review №49

Heat level scale is off. Ordered hot and no heat or flavor. The staff tries but owner lacks vision. Felt like a food court atmosphere inside. The store front and patio seating does not match the vibe inside.

Diner Review №50

I have eaten Panang curry many tunes at many restaurants and this was not the usual panang flavors. Very bland

I would definitely recommend the tom ga soup, phenomenal

Diner Review №51

I’ve been eating at malee for 30 years and it’s not even close to what it was with the original owners it not authentic anymore sorry skip it

Diner Review №52

Great food!! Tried this place Last night for the first time with a group of friends. Food was excellent but service lacked. Server never came back by after food served to refill drinks. I went almost the whole dinner with nothing to drink. Atmosphere was good. Not sure we will be back.

Diner Review №53

This food was not great. I've had SO many Thai food experiences, in Seattle, California, and Oregon and have lots to compare to, and I was very disappointed in everything here.

We had Spicy Thai Cashew, and Massaman Curry, and they were both incredibly soupy. Curry is supposed to have a decent "thickness", and it had the viscosity of Tom Kha Soup. If I'm going to order curry, I want a luscious, thick sauce. My Thai Cashew had poor flavor and was also very soupy in texture, and the chicken was very small. I also don't think mushrooms belong in it this dish, but that's preference I think.

Service was not great. We were waiting a long time for our initial order, and the time to get our check..

There's better Thai out there people. This place ain't it.

Diner Review №54

This place was great, bring your appetites cause the portions were huge. Service was excellent. Our server was Eve and she was very friendly !!!!

Diner Review №55

Mixed response but I'll give this place the benefit of doubt. We had great starters and bad entrees one time and the other way round the other time.

Hit or a miss.

Diner Review №56

We had lunch there, it used to be a great spot that's why we went back to eat there. The food now is very bad, it is salty and oily and there is no flavor or taste. The yellow curry was just hot water with yellow color.

Never going back.

Diner Review №57

Diner Review №58

Diner Review №59

Diner Review №60

The server was very inattentive and rude, the food took (there were only 3 tables) over an hour to arrive we will never go back. Overpriced and under sized food/ drinks even with happy hour prices..

Diner Review №61

I’m not sure if it’s just how Arizonians eat but everything was blandddddddd. No flavor whatsoever. We had the pad Thai, hippy noodles, tom yum soup, minced chicken and Panang curry. If I had to choose, the curry was the best but that’s pushing it. Everything was sweet. I wouldn’t recommend it. We’re from Texas so maybe we’re used to all the seasoning and salt😂.

Diner Review №62

Came here after a long time. Looks like the kitchen staff has changed. The food did not taste the same at all. This was one of our favorite Thai restaurant in the valley. Too bad. Will not be coming back.

Diner Review №63

Diner Review №64

UNREAL. hidden gem alert.

We stumbled upon this Thai joint and while it didn't look like anything special form the outside, it smelled incredible and lured us in. Service was friendly and quick. Dishwasher needs to be better but it didn't even matter.

The food was SO GOOD and flavorful and cooked properly. Dragon Lettuce Wraps. Peanut Curry. Mango fish. Mmmmmm.

No aceptan efectivo.

Diner Review №66

Wild that they claim to be the best Thai food in Scottsdale, even thai chili 2go is better than this. Ordered for the first time when I was staying in old town, absolutely so bland which was made even more disappointing by how highly it is reviewed online. No flavor at all, and I ordered the pad Thai on a Friday night so that’s pretty bad. Also had an app, better but not good. Thought maybe I just got a bad break, but my 2 friends concurred; the food was completely flavorless and some of the worst Thai food we’ve ever had. I get that Scottsdale isn’t like the Thai capital of the US or anything…but yeah. Not sure if I’ve been more disappointed by a meal in a while, and I normally love Thai food! Don’t waste your time even if you’re craving Thai.

Diner Review №67

Ok - it was takeout. A $36 takeout of spring rolls, panang, and white rice (extra charge. The spring rolls were small, uninspired, soggy, and accompanied by a small container of watery sweet and sour goo. The panang was to be "Thai hot" which it was - but little else of note except the expected coconut flavors which were conspicuous by their absence. Given their otherwise high ratings, I can only conclude that they were way off their game today and I was but a random drive by (literally) victim.

Diner Review №68

Diner Review №69

Absolutely terrible we both got Pad Thai it was like spaghetti sauce with a very acidic flavor. Waiter could have cared less that we did not touch our food. Very disappointing considering other reviews

Diner Review №70

Diner Review №71

Worst Thai food I ever had. They add ketchup in your dishes.

Diner Review №72

Superb service, great food, nice small restaurant. And again, probably the best service of any restaurant we have ever been to!

Diner Review №73

Walked in at 2:03 pm. Dead for Mother’s Day. Completely disorganized. They did not care one bit. Basically just like hanging out. We didn’t even get service lol. Wow we just left.

Diner Review №74

All the items were good, nothing was amazing.

Diner Review №75

The waitress was so helpful picking out a good meal. It was our first visit. We will be back. The food was so good.

Diner Review №76

Eve was freaking amazing! Wish we were staying longer so we could come here alot more!!! I shared everything on my Facebook page! Thanks again! Jx

Diner Review №77

The peanut curry is amazing 🤩🤤

Diner Review №78

Diner Review №79

Diner Review №80

Good Thai food. Pad Thai was flavorful but a bit dry. $2 for extra sauce for the Pad Thai seems excessive given the already high prices.

Diner Review №81

Authentic Thaï food

Diner Review №82

I believe the young lady's name was Paige, she provided excellent service.

Diner Review №83

Diner Review №84

My family and I have come here many times and it’s always been one of our favorite Thai spots. However last night we got take out and it was some of the worst food I’ve ever had. I don’t know if they changed their cook. Our drunken noodles were completely dry and there was no chicken aside from stringy chopped up little pieces and the Exotic Fried Rice was mushy and had no flavor whatsoever. We paid over $40 for both these items. We do love this place but this was so disappointing for how good it’s been in the past.

Diner Review №85

I wandered into Malee’s for an early dinner. The staff was fantastic and friendly: attentive but not in your face, personable but not pushy. I ordered the summer rolls to start (which, honestly, was enough for a meal) and yellow curry for a main dish. I took most of the curry home and gladly ate it for lunch and dinner the next day. The food was so good that I came back two days later for more. The waitress (Kimmy) was delightful, making me feel like a regular. With this kind of welcome, service, and phenomenal food I am sure that it won’t be long before I am a regular (even though I live 45 minutes away). If I could give more than five stars I would!

Diner Review №86

Malee's Thai Restaurant exceeded all expectations! The atmosphere was delightful, complemented by impeccable service. The restaurant is clean, and well-kept, with charming decor. The food was simply delicious; we loved it so much that we couldn't resist taking an extra sampler to go. I indulged in spicy lettuce wraps, customizable to my preferred level of spiciness, and they were fantastic. And of course, no meal at Malee's is complete without indulging in their heavenly mango sticky rice dessert. A must-visit for any Thai cuisine enthusiast!

Diner Review №87

I would say one of the best Thai food I have ever tasted, do ask for their veg soup option,, large servings, good to share

Diner Review №88

Called 3 times to get a credit card refund because my chicken pad Thai came with shrimp in it. I am allergic to shrimp.... I called and they said it would be taken care of never was. Then I spoke to a lady who was apparently the manager and she said she would take care of it. Never did.

Diner Review №89

Diner Review №90

First experience with Thai food. I'd try it again.

Diner Review №91

Diner Review №92

I can't recommend this place enough. They have delicious tom kha soup... Somehow other places don't get it right but they absolutely. I could eat that dish for the rest of my life and nothing else 😋 Their pad Thai are amazing 😋 and the atmosphere and service are excellent to and they just went through a redesign. Owners are so friendly.

Diner Review №93

I would have licked the bowl if I were at home. The lemongrass soup was amazing, cooked to perfection in a coconut broth that was to die for. Every bite was better than the one before. Served in a flaming bowl to maximize warmth. Max was a kind and thoughtful server. Ameir was also kind and helpful. We look forward to our next visit.

Diner Review №94

Unprofessional customer service.

Diner Review №95

4.3 stars, really??? The place smell like sewer, the men’s room is disgusting, the service was not good, the food was served cold, we returned our main dish and a side of vegetables and asked for the check. She brings the check including the items we returned. Clueless. It’s been years since I’ve eaten there and was looking forward to it. When we arrived there were two tables of customers and we left the place was still virtually empty, I can sure understand. We will never be back.

Diner Review №96

This place is a gem in Old Town. The food was delicious, the service was great and I sat outside on a beautiful day watching the people stroll around. I had chicken satay and summer rolls as I was just looking for a light lunch. I was impressed with the size of the portions, the presentation of the food and the flavors. The satay was seasoned perfectly. The summer rolls were fresh and light. I would definitely eat there again if I visit the area again.

Diner Review №97

Diner Review №98

Food was good, but I wouldn't say it was great. Several of our group ordered the "Chef's Hot" spice level (The hottest they have) and it was not really that spicy at all. The pad thai was a little too vinegary. Most of the food was like that. It was good, but for the price it should have been better. Oh but the drunken noodles were awesome!

Diner Review №99

food was nothing special. the atmosphere was nice

Diner Review №100

Very generic "Thai" food that is well prepared. Plenty of plant based options. Small patio if you want to sit outside.

Diner Review №101

Diner Review №102

Stayed in Scottsdale 8 nights this past month and loved Malee’s so much that I’ve had dinner there 3 times during that span! With the 50 other options nearby, I preferred to go to Malee’s.

All 3 times I ordered the Masaman Curry with beef. The beef is not your typical “Chinese beef” used at Chinese restaurants and other Thai places.

They use Beef Tenderloin.

Be careful with ordering the highest spice level - I made that mistake once but still devoured it all since it was still delicious despite my tongue burning.

Great place - owner was very nice to me despite me thinking I left my coat there and clearly I was mistaken.

Diner Review №103

This spot has a really cute and fun vibe to it. Set in a very nice location on Main St. It really stands out amongst the galleries, I can definitely see why it's so popular. They have a nice patio and tons of indoor seating. My server was super sweet and attentive, I felt right at home.

I went with the drunken noodles maximum spice and a Thai tea. Both were absolutely delicious. Max hot is about habinero hot, so if you're worried, don't be. The heat does not take away from the flavor, which is great.

I really like this place and will surely return.

Diner Review №104

It was a great experience enjoying great evening in Scottae downtown. The food was great and patio sitting is amazing.

Diner Review №105

I really like this place. Great food. Staff is great. Bit of a different layout. Everything is great. ... Oh, and a happy hour that's worth going to.
Update... Food quality took a hit since the last time i was there. Not as impressed as i was, unfortunately. Still, pretty good.

Diner Review №106

Very good Thai food!
Large portions, but my meal, the fried white fish with sweet chili sauce was a bit too sweet for me.
However my daughters pad Thai was perfect! We sat outside and it was lovely 😍

Diner Review №109

Absolutely incredible I am so happy to have dined here. Would definitely return. The curry was amazing. Pad thai was uniquely flavorful. Delicious food, wonderful service, great location.

Diner Review №110

When traveling, my go-to is often Thai. Finding this restaurant was a true winner. The Tom Ka Gai soup was the perfect blend of coconut and spice and plenty to share. For my entree, I had the Drunken Dragon Noodles with chicken. The noodles were so thick and savory. The ambiance is nice, too. I’ll be back.

Diner Review №111

Stopped by for a few drinks and a quick bite. I sat at the bar and the bartender Kim was such a sweetheart and very attentive. Good food and good ambiance. Will be back again

Diner Review №112

Diner Review №113

The waitress was all over the place, she was very confused about certain things on the menu, the prices of the add-ons and mixed up a dish with another. Additionally, we ordered 4 things in total, two of which were exactly identical and she still managed to forget one of them, leading to it arriving 20 mins later than everything else. Meaning by then we had all finished eating and had to take majority of it in a to-go box, this lack of competence is the reason for this one star review. Not to mention that the food was lackluster at best and one of us actually suffered stomach issues afterwards.

Diner Review №114

Food and service far exceeded our expectations!

Diner Review №115

Restaurant was very dirty and in need of repairs and maintenance. Food tasted good but prep was thrown together.

I wish I could give this restaurant more stars. I have no idea why they don’t have a solid five star rating. I have been going here for 20 years, I have never been disappointed. Every. Dish. Is. Delicious! Best Tom Ka soup I've ever had. Love the Drunken noodles and Massamon.

Diner Review №126

February 2, after a wonderful Scottsdale Hashknife Pony Express event for Western Week, we went looking for a vegetarian menu and were pleasantly surprised to find Malee's on Main.

After being seated and ordering our drinks, we found the perfect meal to share. Tom Ka Gai. Malee's famous coconut ginger soup with original chili reduction sauce, mushrooms, fresh lemongrass, galanga root & kefir lime leaf with cilantro & green onion.

We tasted a leave that we didn't recognize and called over a waiter, who we later found out was the owner Brian (along with his wife). He explained the lime kaffir leaves were an integral ingredient in the soup and grown by one resident in Scottsdale. The soup was perfect, we enjoyed learning from and laughing with Brian. Brian is totally involved in continuing to make Malee's the #1 Thai restaurant in Scottsdale. Thank you

Diner Review №127

My dad and step mom stopped in for supper. Wonderful atmosphere in Old Town. Loved the Thai toast (had the appetizer sampler) and Tom Ka Gai. Loved their food and stop in.

Diner Review №128

Over prices Thai food. Not a fan of this restaurant. Too much fish sauce and attitude. Find a family run restaurant.

Diner Review №129

Diner Review №130

Very friendly and personable staff. You want hot, you’ll get it here at level five! Not quite Thailand hot but very respectable for a US restaurant. Make sure you’ve got something cold to drink!

Diner Review №131

Malee's is one of those great restaurants that has been here for many many years. Consistently great food. Owners daughter served a group of us one time. We enjoyed a story about her mom in good fun. It's nice to feel a part of a community, a larger family when a business stays around so long. It shows a loving commitment.

Diner Review №132

Easy to make a reservation online. Servers are extremely friendly, but it was a bit slow on a Friday night.
Really enjoyed the fish pla and the teriyaki chicken. The fish is a must try! We will definitely recommend Malee's and be back in the future.

Diner Review №135

Honestly I think this place probably could be great but we ordered noodles and rice to go. The noodles were great. Perfect spice and tasted great. But we ordered the jalapeno rice and the rice was undercooked and it just kind of tasted like rice tossed in Thai spices and jalapenos. Rice was really hard which is upsetting because an Asian restaurant should know how to make rice. I'll give them another chance because the noodles were good but idk about this rice. They should know better not to serve undercooked hard rice.

Diner Review №136

Wow! What a gem! Everything we had was absolutely delicious! Top notch service and presentation. A definite return visit is in order!

Diner Review №137

Finally found a place with SPICY food :) got the “Thai hot” level heat for the basil curry and oh man they did me right. I’ve gotta try “chef hot” but I stayed humble and now I’m scared lol. Also got the Thai basil cocktail - that was also super good. I love basil haha

Boyf got the peanut curry and he liked it too :) we will absolutely go again! We found this place on the way back from a looooong flight away and it was a great Welcome Home meal. Definitely recommend. The service was really good. Fast. The menu was stacked with great options and I reaaaallly wanna try the drunken noodle. I been on a curry kick as of late. Anyways give this place a shot and tip well !!

Diner Review №139

Whole experience was amazing. I eat Thai food ALL the time and this place DELIVERED. The Spice levels are truly a real spice level. A 4 somewhere else is a 2 here so you can truly trust their levels to be genuine. All their drinks were fantastic! The "Kimmi" drink (not currently on the menu, is the best drink I've ever tasted. Delicious - made by the most excellent and kind server/bartender, Kimmi! Highly recommend this place! You will LOVE it.

Food is good service is good. Definitely recommend

Diner Review №142

I took my kids here for lunch on a Sunday. The atmosphere is nice and quiet, however the food was not great. Noodles were undercooked and dry and chewy, the chicken gross and rubbery. Service was friendly but once the food was out the waiters didn’t come around, we waited about 15 minutes for someone to come by to bring the check, finally had to go searching for it. Not worth a second visit for sure.

Diner Review №143

Diner Review №144

Ate dinner here. Service was very slow, food average at best, and prices average. If you're looking for good Thai, I would look elsewhere

Diner Review №145

Service personnel, write down orders. I’m a 61 year old businessman. I still take notes in meetings and phone calls.

You are professionals, use the tools available to you to do your job well which is serving what your client ordered in an efficient and friendly manner.

Since you didn’t take notes, you made a mistake on our appetizer order.

This caused a back up which led to us having our main courses crash into our appetizers which we were still eating.

Ugh.

Write down the order.

Diner Review №146

Wonderfully surprised at the quality and quantity of the dishes we ordered! Service was wonderful even though it was a healthy dinner crowd.

Such a great place in Old Scottsdale. A must visit if you’re walking around. Excellent food and service.

Diner Review №150

Chose this restaurant based on the reviews. Overall, I'd say it was pretty good. The appetizers were brought out quickly and were quite tasty. The curries were presented nicely, and the flavors were great. Unfortunately I ended up with an upset stomach later that night. Must have been something in the curry that isn't normally there. Not sure what ingredient, unfortunately.

Diner Review №151

They totally nailed it! The spice levels are just right, giving the dishes a kick without overshadowing the amazing flavors. Seriously, every bite was a flavor explosion. Quality ingredients make a huge difference – this spot gets it right. The service was great, everyone was really nice and attentive. If you're into bold and tasty Thai food, I highly recommend this place.

Diner Review №152

Really overpriced and Americanized (more so than most). The flavors were mediocre at best and the heat scale way way to mellow (hot wasn't even medium... medium was below mild). Much much better places for Thai in the valley...

Diedre would be doing flip flops if she saw how Malees has changed her historic restaurant. Ambiance? So they painted it light green. It has no character at all and the food doesn’t either. The new owners have no concept of how Thai food should be prepared. I think the fish for crispy pla came from Costco! The eggplant was in a pool of liquid like soup. The famous Tom Ka was terribly disappointing. Two out of 5 in our party was sick after dinner. We won’t be going back.

Diner Review №155

Ate here for the second year in a row when visiting Scottsdale. Highly recommend the Tofu Spinach Potstickers, Drunken Dragon Noodles and Mango Fish. Drinks were excellent as was the service.

Had dinner last weekend to celebrate the holidays and we were all looking forward to delicious Thai food. We were even sending texts back and forth on the menu items leading up to dinner. We like to eat!

Unfortunately, we should have stopped at the apps. The crab ragoon had no flavor and the raspberry sauce was very sweet and bizarre. The fried spring rolls had a strange bbq taste too it. The curry was very liquidity, exotic fried rice mushy/flavorless and pad thai was serviceable. The only delicious item was the soup. I asked my friend later why she didn't get a drink and she said that "the food didn't deserve it."

The food was sub par and I was disappointed as we've heard really good things about Malee's and it was not cheap! I didn't want to tell the server while we were there to ruin the night for the group, but wanted to reach out in some capacity because it is just not right to serve food at that price point and have that bad quality.

Diner Review №159

Service wasn’t very good. Waited for way too long for a box and our bill.
Men’s restroom was filthy. Urine all over the floor.
We will not visit again.

Diner Review №160

Well since Dierdra sold the restaurant you can tell the difference in the food quality less protein smaller portions!! The new owners look like they haven’t bathed in days !! Sorry to see the changes

We discovered the gem on a walkabout Old Town Scottsdale. Lunch was packed so we returned that evening. Our server Eve was simply delightful and offered helpful insights into the options. I ordered the Drunken Dragon Wraps with cabbage option at level 2 spice. It was prefect, filling, nutritious. My beer was served at the perfect temperature and the water glasses were filled.

My wife had the veggie roll and soup. She loved it. It was a huge portion.

It's a relaxed atmosphere that's more like a neighborhood hangout. It feels very welcoming, and a big credit to Eve for making us feel that way.

If you're a tourist in town or a local and love Thai cuisine, this should be on your list of food stops.

It had been many years since I had been back to Malees. I was really looking forward to it as I had always remembered the food was good. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to enjoy the food. So I can’t even rate that. There was a male and female owners berating their employees from the minute I sat down. I was so uncomfortable. It was a constant putting down and including foul language. This is not OKAY!!!! Under any circumstances. No Matter the circumstances. How do you not care if there are customers sitting in front watching and witnessing your disgusting behavior. I apologized to two of the employees and they both said it’s ok. As if they are used to this! It’s not okay! Also, having “huddles” in front of customers is so unprofessional. I’m sorry; but pure trash of management! I will not be coming back. I feel horrible for the employees to be treated this way. My stomach is still nauseous from witnessing this. I had to stop and leave because I couldn’t stand it anymore. It wound be pointless to say: Shame on you! You should be embarrassed. Because if you were and cared: this would never happen or be allowed! I was here for 20 min. That’s how long it lasted coming back and forth pacing to berate them.

Diner Review №164

One of the best Thai food restaurants in Arizona.

Diner Review №165

I wa less than impressed with the food. Maybe I should have chosen differently. The restaurant has nice ambience and great staff.

Diner Review №166

Ok.

The crab Rangoon has no crab.
Its cream cheese deep fried in a shell.

My unripe tomatoes aren’t cooked neither are the broccoli stalks, please see image for scale of a massive broccoli stalk in our food that is not cooked.

There is no sauce on my food it’s dry and difficult to eat.

The Phad Thai is ok.

We would never order here again.

Scottsdale good luck with your taste palette.

We want a full refund.

We stopped at Malee’s for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. There were only two other tables being served, so we thought we would get in and out fairly quickly. This was not the case. I ordered Crispy Basil Chicken. Being a retired chef, I know dark chicken is very forgiving and hard to overcook. The flavor was good, as was the level of spiciness. However, the chicken itself was dry and burned, beyond what I would call being blackened, which I wouldn’t mind because I enjoy blackened chicken. My wife ordered Pad Thai which supposedly comes with chicken and shrimp, but my wife ordered shrimp only. When the dish came, it came with chicken only. So the kitchen had to remake the order. By the time it came, I was halfway through my meal. Her meal tasted OK, but just OK. On multiple occasions, we have enjoyed dinner at Malee's during their busiest service hours, and the meals have consistently exceeded the quality of this lunch during a slower period. One would expect when things are slow, the staff would have a greater opportunity to get things right. There were several people, including who I think was the manager, just standing around talking and doing very little constructive. As a retired restaurateur, I know if you’ve got time to lean, you’ve got time to clean. Management should have a conversation with the staff about the customer experience and stress the importance of paying close attention to details.

Food was not really good at all and I heard there is a new owner taking over. Another thing though, I went there to check out this place. The lady who had bun and glasses on was incredibly rude. She was cleaning restroom without the sign or locking the door. When I try to open the door after knocking, she just pushed me out to wait. When I talked to her why she was pushing me out, she told me I was rude to open the door while she was cleaning inside. I was speechless. I know someone going through a lot of things but can she just be professional at work?

Outstanding food and service. This remains the best Thai restaurant in Greater Phoenix.

Excellent meal, they just reopened for lunch ( since Covid). Curry and pad thai were great

Diner Review №180

This is not the same Malees Thai bistro you remember a few years ago pre-pandemic. their traditional fried rice went from a 10 to a 0 in quality, ingredients ect. it tastes completely different. Very bad quality. tasted cheap. SAVE YOUR MONEY

We love this spot! The food if always phenomenal. Oy (unsure how to spell) at the bar is SO sweet. She lights up the room and is very attentive and always takes good care of us.
Her daughters that work here are amazing as well. They say hi and remember you by name. Service here is incredible!

So terribly disappointing. The food has always been good. We were seated with a reservation and plenty of tables open. Took 40 minutes to get an appetizer. Main course was freezing cold (they blamed it on the AC). They were stacking up tables as we tried to eat something. Told the manager, while our server was laughing at us. We got a minuscule discount. Never again for us.

Diner Review №187

First time here but it won’t be our last. The food far exceeded our expectations & the service was just as good.

Diner Review №188

We love Thai food and wanted to explore untried places in the valley. At Malee’s Thai, we ordered their Drunken Noodles and Panang Curry. Unfortunately, the food was not good. The noodles themselves were chewy and did not taste fresh. The chicken thighs were chewy and not fresh, the chicken breast was overly overcooked making it dry and rubbery. The drunken noodles lacked flavor and taste making it a very bland experience overall.

Panang Curry was relatively good but was lacking flavor. The chicken was better cooked but still did not taste fresh and juicy. The curry itself was too thin and runny. It had an amazing coconut note but overall disappointing.

I also got the thai ice tea which was really good. It was the best serving compared to anything were ordered on the table.

I would not recommend this place. There are much better places in the valley - Yuphas Thai, Charm Thai, Smile Thai, Thai Rama, etc.

Food was great. The staff was extremely nice! However, venture beyond heat level 3 at your own risk. Our family is from Louisiana, and we got put in our place!

Diner Review №191

Relaxed service and atmosphere. The Mango chicken is fabulous. My pad Thai was good but a bit dry. The green curry is excellent and the crispy chicken was great. You can specify spice level. The Thai hot is HOT!!

Diner Review №192

Super yummy. Very nice service. The fried tofu is amazing.

Diner Review №193

Amazing food, the coconut shrimp!! 👏😋

Diner Review №194

Food and service were wonderful and made a delightful experience for the entire family!

Diner Review №195

Malee’s Thai is located in the heart of old town Scottsdale. The food is authentic and prices are reasonable. They can make many dishes vegan or gluten free and the portion sizes are generous. I have a decent bar with many options. I would highly recommend trying it!

Diner Review №196

Love this place best panang curry and drunken noodles ever! The bartender Oy (not sure how to spell her name) is really one of the best bartenders in town! So you get great food, great service and it's a good time! Thanks to Oy and the fam! CMart!

This is hands down the best Thai restaurant in the valley, I loved everything about it. You are able to custom order your food to cater to your dietary, personal preferences or medical needs and it's delicious.

Diner Review №200

We did their cooking class today, what a great time. The food and people were amazing. I highly recommend this. Great for a couple, friends, neighbors, anyone. They go over all the details of thai cooking, share their recommended brands, and teach you how to make some of their best dishes. Tom kha gai was included in ours today, my favorite ever ❤️ very resonablely priced. They provide wine pairing with the food, but you can also order your own selection if you'd like. We will definitely do it again in the near future, the food selection changes. Thank you Malee's for a great time. We will be back
