Thai authentic food
Thai Basil checks all the boxes for what we want when we crave Thai food. The service is fast and friendly. They have good wine and beer. Most importantly, the curries are great. We like lots of tender crisp vegetables and plenty of chicken with a flavorful sauce that isn’t too hot or too mild. It is a small place so not big on ambiance but not bad to sit and eat in. The prices are also good with portions generous enough to take some home.
I ordered take out. It just wasn’t good. I got the Wonton soup. Should be pretty straight forward, but the broth has way too much fish sauce in it that tastes like it was dowsed in it. The dumplings were clunky, there was only three and it was $15. I just can’t. It was bad. My spouse won’t order anything from here and now I know why. Bummer. I’m sure other things are good though. Not the soup.
I love this place! The owners are wonderful people and they always make you feel welcomed, like you are in your own home. They remember their regulars for sure as they know my favorite meal there and they will ask me if I want my usual! (Stir-fried glass noodles w chicken and Xtra broccoli... No spicy lol) Make fun all you want but my stomach can't handle hardcore spicy foods🤷🏻♂️🤣 So it's nice to have that option. I highly recommend trying the food here and I look forward to finally being able to sit down and dine in one night soon. 5 stars for not only the food and atmosphere but the service from some very lovely people who own/run this location! ❤️
I was invited to eat dinner at Thai Basil after flying across the country and then hiking 2.5 hours. It was a delicious treat after all of that. I ordered Tom Ka Tofu with steamed tofu which was just right. Our entrees were panang tofu and a special: mango curry with chicken. Both were very tasty. The panang was a bit spicy for me because I can't tolerate much spice, so they accommodated me by adding a bit more coconut milk, and giving me extra rice. The mango curry was very colorful, full of vegetables of bright colors and flavorful.
The service was super fast and the waiter filled our glasses as often as necessary.
Overall, we were very happy with this restaurant.
Bonus, they had a background soundtrack playing jazz piano music I had never heard before, including a jazz version of Fur Elise.
Yummy

The food was good. The service was good
Usually order take out. Food is always goid and fresh, friendly staff
Ordered take out. The Pad Thai was heavy on the noodles and not heavy on flavor or sauce. Service was good tho.
The food was great, and the service was top tier as well. I definitely will be returning.
I love their food and customer service. My favorite is the sweet sticky rice with mango and red curry !! The best😊 and they always have a smile with customers I love this place.
Not open for lunch anymore 😫! They open at 4pm
Food, service atmosphere are all amazing here. Great lunch specials during the week.
Family-owned Thai restaurant, where outstanding customer service meets the finest flavors in town. Best Thai food .
Delicious food and great service. They have a very friendly staff. I was able to find a vegan option.
The curry noodle has the *best* coconut curry sauce!
Delicious, flavorful, and great portion sizes. The tofu is super yummy! Very friendly service.
Red curry so good!
Love this place used to be 5 star but the new waitress made it a very unpleasant experience, she was terrible.
Everything we ordered (for takeout) was *DELICIOUS*!!! Can't wait have their food again! The order we placed was prepared quickly, no mistakes were made, and everyone at this restaurant was very friendly!
I think it's the best Thai flavor in the valley, plus....fast friendly service, small restaurant nice ely decorated.
Spicy noodles and drunken noodles were delicious! Will come back again
Food was great. Only thing was I didn't indicate a spicy level for the fried rice and ended up getting spicy so make sure you let them know if you don't want spicy.
This was the best red curry I’ve had in a really long time. Not to mention, they actually put veggies in the curry that people want to eat! I got chicken red curry with a couple slight modifications and spicy level 2 (1-10 is their spice level). It’s on the sweeter side (which I love) so probably using more coconut milk than most and not going wild with fish sauce. It was a great blend of sweet and salty with spice. The dish was $11.50 and came with a side of rice, a soup, and a spring roll.
Good atmosphere. Good food.good service. Medium price.
All the curries are vegan, and for WFPB, I can get brown rice and steamed tofu. Delicious!
Curry is so runny. Like water. I paid extra for beef and got 3 small very well done pieces. Just not for me
Great food, great employees, just love this place
The food is delicious and the staff is warm. I would recommend
It’s one of our family’s favorite restaurants in the neighborhood. Their panang curry is amazing!
The restaurant is dingy bad lighting old paint dusty decorations. The food is worse. Old oil is used to cook fried items such as spring rolls. The curry is lackluster tates mor like Indian curry like with the tumeric spice lacks the depth of REAL Thai curry. So disappointing. I eat almost weekly at Thai Rama. The Thai basil chefs would do well to go to Thai rama to see how real Thai food is made! I’ve traveled to Thailand twice and LOVE authentic Thai food. I hate American food especially the deep fried stuff. This food is like the Thai version of Denny’s YUCK. Do not order the crab cakes unless you want premade circles that taste Iike oily deep fried dog food!
First time at Thai Basil having lunch with my mom...we were not disappointed! One of the best Pad Thai I've had! Will definitely return again.
We came here for the first time yesterday and the food and service was amazing!
The stir fried glass noodles with chicken was excellent. Very flavorful. The spring rolls were crispy and contents were fresh. Thai toast was very good. but I didn't care for the fish cakes.
Ordering by phone was easy and the host seems competent.
I ordered Thai Fried rice and red curry with shrimp. I got the spicy fried rice instead. I dislike this rice because the dish does not have enough rice and too many pieces of huge broccoli and carrots and other vegetables. The so called shrimp red curry only had 3 pieces of shrimp, lots of liquid and again huge pieces of vegetables.
Lady was super rude to us from the moment we came in 5 people with two infants, and was forced to pay gratuity. Go to another place or at least a different location. Sad because we've had good experiences in the past.
Yummy! We are from out of town and this place was great. Everything tasted fresh. Local, hole in the wall, great food. We had the Pad Thai, Spicy Thai Basil and the unexpected but delicious Pineapple Curry. I tend to read a lot of reviews and never leave them myself but figure it was about time.
Meh. Meaning the food was not that great. The atmosphere is not that great. The one bright point is our server was friendly and made a bad experience into a good one. Still, your food lacks flavor. That is what Meh means.
Really tasty well-priced food. Friendly owner and staff.
Excellent food and service, every time!
I usually love coming here, the food is good. But I was just here with my family and we got here 40 minutes before closing and we usually eat pretty fast and I was just about to ask for the check but then I noticed the woman was turning off the TV and turned off the music as if trying to tell us to leave 15 minutes before they close which I find rude. No one likes to eat in a completely quiet space where all you hear is the spoons clinking and everything that’s going on in the back is loud in the front. Not a pleasant visit. Unfortunately.
I loved the Chicken Salad, it was very refreshing and the dressing was amazing. Wish I had the recipe for the dressing!! Also loved the fried sweet potatoes.
Food was good .service was very very marginal only one server at rush hour time
We had a great time there today! It was not terribly busy for a Sunday afternoon. Delicious food and very well plated!
Really great Thai place with great food. I tried the Spicy Rice plate this evening which was amazing. I think I’ll return again soon and try the Pad Thai.
Location is also good and the atmosphere and vibe are relaxing and welcoming. Highly recommend.
Great food great service! I always go here for all my Thai food needs. Everything I've had here is delicious. I'm a big fan of the red curry and Pad Thai. Everything I've tried here has been delicious!
We went here for Christmas & the service was fast. We got spicy garlic noodles, pad Thai, red curry, hot and sour soup, spring rolls, and thai beer. Ate it too fast to get a picture!
The food was really good. They have by far the best green curry I've ever had.
My husband and I are hard to please when it comes to food. We absolutely LOVE this place!!! It’s always so fresh and flavorful. It’s made with love; you can taste it! And the customer service is great…they are always kind and polite.
Very good food. Good portion. Nice service
Very nice people working here
Seriously the best Thai food I have found and I'm so happy it's close by. My go to is the peanut curry. One serving can feed two or more people. It's great everytime. Staff is great too
Love this place! Lots of vegetarian options and food comes really fast!
The portions are big, we got 3 items. Can feed 4 to 5 people. It's our second time, this will be added to our favorite places to eat.
This resturant is amazing! The fresh spring rolls were the best I have had in the US! I had the Peanut Curry with Tofu and my partner had the Pork Spicy Noodles...both dishes were perfectly spiced! What a great treat!
Yellow and Red Curry are excellent!
Super good and great amount of food.
Friendly staff and they give very generous servings for takeouts.
Best fried rice I've had in a very long time. I love this place solely for that lol. Don't sleep on this place, definitely give it a try! best in Ahwatukee easily
Uhmaaaazing food. Well done.
Just the best curry, great pricing, portions and quality vegetables that are a little crunchy and not mushy like so many places.
I've had better thai food, but I've also had worse. Meat is always a little overcooked and dishes could be a little saucier, but this spot is consistently decent.
The Pad Thai and Masaman curry were perfect.
They know my son's favorite order as soon as he walks in!
Dining experience was excellent! Owner was very nice and food was awesome! Had Seafood Tum Yum (Spicy seafood soup) and Fresg Papaya Salad!
Awesome place to eat. Staff is great, food is great.
Tonight is the second time that I've gotten food from Thai Basil in Ahwatukee, and I have to say that I'm generally just not that impressed. Some menu items are better than others, as with any restaurant, but tonight's experience was sub-par even considering that. I ordered online via their website and picked it up after work. The prices for the food were reasonable, though I passed on the $4.00 Thai iced tea (yikes!).
I ordered some spring rolls, pineapple fried rice, "spicy noodles," and mee krob. The spring rolls and their sauce were good - no complaints there. The pineapple fried rice was decent, but had kind of a strange burned smell to it. The spicy noodles were edible, but despite their name, they had absolutely zero spice to them whatsoever, instead just tasting greasy and bland (perhaps it's the fault of their online ordering system for not having an option to choose different spice levels like other places, but I mean, c'mon...it's in the name!). Finally, I specifically ordered the mee krob with "NO chicken," as I'm a vegetarian. I should have checked it before I left the restaurant, because when I got home and opened it up, it was full of chicken bits. Fortunately, I was able to easily pick them out, but they shouldn't have been there in the first place. The mee krob was also lacking the "cubed bell pepper" that was mentioned on the menu.
Overall, they've got some decent stuff if you're careful with what you're ordering, but I'll be sticking with Thai Delight or Chanpen from now on.
Wonderful food and great service.
My family and I come here all the time, the owner is always very attentive and greets us with a welcoming smile. The food is absolutely amazing, definitely the best Thai food I've ever had! I would 11/10 recommend this place.
Superior tom gha soup, and other dishes were great as well. Very friendly staff who will tailor dishes to your desires. Good experience, and they serve Beer Chang for those in the know.
Grate tofu, Grate food, Grate tea, and Great service. I plan on coming back several more times.
Ate there with some friends the other night and the curry was really good. Their thai hot was spicier than most other Thai places I've been to, and that makes me really happy. :) I love the veggies they added. I wish my Panang curry had some thai basil leaves in it though, that's one of my favorite parts of that dish, and most other places have that in there.
One part kind of made me uneasy: We got a bottle of wine. They gave us a bottle that had the label ripped off, and was replaced with their restaurant's label that had no year on it. My fiance didn't actually see them open the bottle, the cork looked really gross to me, and I suspect the wine was actually watered down. It had a similar weird aftertaste to their water. I've never been anywhere where they don't open wine in front of you, and I've never tasted "wine" quite like that... I had major stomach problems the whole next day, which may or may not be related.
It kind of broke my trust for the place, so I don't think I could eat there again, which is a shame, because the flavors were there!
Edited because of the owners comment, but keeping to what I believe is my honest assessment: I always order Thai Basil chicken and Im always the bring on the spiciest level possible. So it wasnt that spicy (deleted this part) and lacking in that depth of flavor I usually think of with Thai, like maybe too little galangal? Its okay, but doesnt satisfy that full on craving.
Really good thai food. The lunch portion was generous. Spring rolls, pad thai and fried rice were all delicious.
Wonderful food, lovely flavors and fast as well. Friendly staff as well.
If you love Thai, this place is what you are looking for. Pad See Ew is awesome. Unlike me, my wife doesn't love spice and ordered the Chicken Noodles dish, huge hit. She loved it.
Order they Pad Thai noodles with shrimp. It was good. Their Thai Tea with coconut milk wash delicious!
The Food was good. The Service was okay. We had to ask for water and we had to ask for bowls for the soup. Only 2 other customers in restaurant when we were there, so not sure why the service wasn't better. Maybe will try again ?
Best thai food
The best!!
Great local thai spot, open later than most in the area and always quick/quality food!
Gone in 830 he said they close at 9 door said 930. He was basically pushing us out the door. Didn't getting eat had to go somewhere else. Had people sitting on the patio eating...
Food was actually pretty decent! Server made a couple mistakes, but they were easily remedied. Would definitely go again!
Fantastic food. I picked up yellow curry (tofu), pad see ew (beef), and spicy noodles (tofu). I recommend a medium level spice.
Easily my favorite local Thai restaurant. Excellent service, spice options and price to go alongside the already delicious plates. I've tried the Thai fried rice and Pad Thai and both are constant go choices for me.
Every single time I'm in Phoenix I HAVE to have Thai Basil. They're always so nice and the food is INCREDIBLE! I'm a big fan of spicy Thai food, and this place always hits the spot.
My goodness. I can see why they win best of Ahwatukee
Great food, service, and health and safety practices. We were well taken care of on the patio with plants and sun or shade choices.
The taste and presentation of the food was incredible
So it was clean and service was quick. Good date night restaurant.
Everything is great, but the green curry with chicken was out of this world today! Cannot wait to eat there again 🙂
They have the best Phad Thai and Garlic Eggplant. Highly recommended!😊
Very friendly, quick, and fantastic curry
We tried this restaurant for the first time through Grubhub. Unfortunately the food wasn’t to my liking. I think it’s overpriced with not much flavor. The main ingredient I had with my dish was chicken. It had very little and was chewy. We also tried the orange chicken. Quite honestly it was not very flavorful. Perhaps dining in might be a better experience?
parang curry yum
THIS PLACE ROCKS! I absolutely love going here, we try to make it at least once a month and during the shutdown we’ve been calling in to pick up! The staff is always so friendly and makes sure to remember their customers for future visits. It was a must stop when my in laws were in town as well. Thank you Thai Basil for being amazing!
My husband and I LOVE this place! Food is so good and the owner always goes above and beyond! We’re here several times a month!
Excellent food great service!
Delicious dinner - definitely go back!
Excellent service
Recommend the pad Thai and the grilled seafood here. Their mango smoothie is a family favorite. My daughters both order this each time we come here for dinner. My husband likes the their Tom kha soup. I like the papaya salad and mango salad. The pas thai here is amazing also. I like their sticky rice dessert with mango.
Fresh food nice sever quick service 😍🤤 I love papaya salad with shrimp and padthai shrimp... thai tea with coco milk 🥰😍
the yellow curry has to be my favorite, and it's amazing! already had it twice and can't wait to order more from them. the potatoes in the curry are a bit hard and not as tender, but the flavor is too good for me to dock off a start because of it. definitely recommend it!
Very good Pad Thai and great service!
Best Thai and very friendly staff!
Best food and customer service.
Thankfully there is a great Thai place in Ahwatukee. You don’t have to drive to Chandler or Tempe or Scottsdale to get great food. Authentic and delicious. Nice people.
great spot for thai food!! they brought out the plate & it was literally steaming lol good eats! hint:thai food is hotter than your average eatery, if u like hot, id recommend the medium here, you be sweating if u get the 🥵
Great Curry!
Didn't match up to the other Thai basil levels.
Good food and nice people
Very good food.
The food is so great, love it. Definitely eat here
My wife and I love this place! We know the owner personally and we have become close friends with him. He is so sweet and accommodating, plus the food is AMAZING and always warm. Best Thai restaurant in the Phoenix area!
Ordered on line and NOTHING, no delivery, no confirmation only a delivery fee charged to me. Really? No way to contact business, no way to contact anyone. Took my money and gone!
Here is a small establishment with strong grounds in Ahwatukee! Food is consistently good, friendly staff, quick service, l highly recommended! Over time I've had the green curry with shrimp, with tofu, both taste outstanding. My husband ordered a chicken red curry and loved the coconut flavor as well.
Delicious, went for lunch and with family. All 3 dishes we ordered were amazing. Yum!
Best thai tea, best pad kee mao (my favorite) I could literally eat this everyday of my life if I could afford it! Price is normal ranging, but you get what you pay for... absolute deliciousness!
It was good Thai food and the lunch deals are solid. I didn't enjoy it as much as Thai Basil in Downtown Phoenix.
This is seriously the best Thai food I have ever had. I travel for a living and have had Thai food all over the US and have never had food this delicious.
Such lovely people. The dishes are bountiful, beautiful, and delicious. The green curry is amazing, as is the Pad Thai. Highly recommended.
Always and excellent meal here!
First experience is very pleasant. Customer service was superb. Food was tasty and vegetables cooked just right. Good place to bring a few friends.
Food was good, now more like a chain quality
I love the red curry lunch
Great lunch special!!! Under $8 gets you a soup, spring roll and your choice of meals ranging from Pad Thai to Green/Yellow/Red Curry. The lunch special runs from 11am to 3pm.
Not a place if you're in a rush but the food is worth the wait.
My boyfriend and I ordered takeout yesterday. He had drunken noodles and I had Thai fried rice with tofu. The description of my item online was Thai fried rice with eggs, mixed vegetables, onions tomatoes, garlic and Thai herbs. My food was flavorless and did not come with tomato, garlic, or mixed vegetables or any freaking basil! My boyfriend said that he ordered his noodles spicy, but they came mild and did not have a lot of flavor. Really disappointed.
Delicious Pad Thai. And we love the Spring Rolls. <3
Patrick the owner is amazing! He really loves what he does! He’s a great guy and the food IS GREAT!!
Cozy atmosphere and outdoor patio area. We shared a large appetizer sampler plate and I thoroughly enjoyed my spicy Thai fried rice and Thai iced coffee. They also have daily specials. I noticed that they deliver through Grubhub and Doordash.
Always good food
Great small atmosphere and the food and service are even more exceptional than the service. I refuse to refer to the woman who hosted is as a waitress or server. She was so welcome, conversational and made fantastic recommendations based on what we said we enjoyed and what she had eaten there during the week. Everything was prepared perfectly and we enjoyed a wonderful experience. Ironically it was a quiet time of day so when we arrived, they had iron chef playing on the TV. It was muted and turned off before we sat down but we assured then that we weren't there to disrupt their day. After much coaxing, they turned the TV back on explaining that during slow period they and the chess would watch for good recipes they could incorporate into the menu, hahaha
