Thai Food and Pho
Wow! What a surprise this place was!
I chose this restaurant for a date night and was not at all disappointed. Certainly casual and not much to say about the atmosphere, but we were more concerned about good eats.
I started with a Thai iced tea and it was a very rich tea and not overloaded with sweetened milk. It's way better than I've had at other places.
My entree was the beef and brisket Pho and they happily served the beef rare on the side as requested. By far the best Pho I have had in years and I am very well traveled. The ratio of broth to noodles was perfect and the broth was rich and flavorful. I have never before had such a hearty serving of meat with my Pho!
My date had Pad Thai with shrimp, and it was phenomenal. The only thing that could have made it better would be presentation as it was just piled on a platter. That said, the portions were huge, and we both ended up bringing home leftovers and having a whole meal the next day.
I would definitely recommend this place, and I will be back. Good food is rare in these parts!
My recommendation to the restaurant? Put up some decorations and take some time to make the plates more presentable. Twirl up your noodles, proteins on top, and hit it with some chopped basil. A little love goes a long way. Thanks for being here.
Ordered chicken pad Thai, chicken fried rice, egg rolls, satay and Thai ice tea. Pad Thai tasted like you sprinkled crushed peanuts on plain noodles(little to no chicken). Fried rice had no seasoning and bland chicken. Egg rolls were fine. Ordered satay which on DoorDash says it’s BBQ Chicken on a skewer instead a received like a cashew chicken and the Thai tea was overly sweet almost thick. I am aware that Thai tea is supposed to be sweet but as someone who has made many Thai teas for a living this was over the top.
This place used to be our favorite restaurant in Palmer - even in the whole valley. New owners took over in May 2022 and sadly the quality has gone way down. I do appreciate that the food is ready quickly (take-out) and it stays piping hot the whole way home. Also, the staff is friendly. But the green curry is now watery and bland, the egg rolls are much smaller with less filling and more wrapper (but the delicious dipping sauce is the same!) and the noodles aren’t at all what they once were. We got take-out a few days ago- my husband ordered his usual, Pad See Ew and I got my fav Drunken Noodles. We asked for spice level 2 on a scale of 1-5 and both of our dishes were extremely spicy. In fact, that’s all they tasted like, just pure heat and nothing else. The noodles were very very dry, none of the delicious sauce we used to love so much. For over $41 for two noodle dishes and an order of egg rolls, it wasn’t worth it. I love local businesses and I’m sure these folks are doing the best they can but it’s a shame that things have changed. I don’t think we’ll be going back any time soon.
I paid $17 for a pork pad thai that barely filled half of a togo container AND it only had 4-5 pieces of pork in the whole thing.
On top of that the food was bland and just boring.
I used to love this place, they had good sized portions and their food actually had flavor.
Shrimp pho made with beef broth and my noodles were undercooked. My apps were cold and the flavor is something worse than gentrified, I can’t put a finger on it.
Unfortunately, the food was but completely flavorless. Ordered three dishes, and every one was missing flavor. Staff was super nice, and the food was piping hot and fast, but all three take-out dishes were totally bland. We've never had Pad thai with no flavor at all before, almost like it was fried without the sauce. Very odd.
Update: Gave this place another shot and got a take out dish, and this time my dish had sauce and was good! Will try again and update another time.
Ben and his girlfriend cooked us up some delicious drunken noodles and Tom yum! The service was attentive and kind. We will definitely be coming back when we are passing through town. Thank you Ben for the tips on Palmer and Wasilla, you made our night with your sweet conversation!

Amazing food thank you! After travelling all day it was nice to have some good food.
Amazing food. We ordered chicken satay, pho and fried rice, they were all very flavorful. Was surprised to find this wonderful Thai place in a small town, exactly what we needed today.
I got curry and it was watered down all the way. It was like soup.
Very authentic and homely food. If you like spicy food then this is perfect. It has the perfect blend of spice and flavor. We dined in at the restaurant, the ambiance is decent but for the food definitely worth going.
We just ate here today and the food was awesome. 5 stars
The location is definitely sketch, but everything else is on point.
The green curry is extremely watery. Not creamy at all. Almost a soup. Pretty disappointed.
Very cute and nice restaurant with quick service and a variety of typical Thai options, which had a more unique taste than what we were used to. Very flavorful! They were able to substitute oyster sauce into a vegetarian dish for the yellow curry and pad see ew, which was very much appreciated. Highly recommend!
I have lived all over the world eating at the best restaurants ever, BUT THIS LITTLE PLACE has the most amazing food and service ever! It’s my family’s new favorite restaurant. I recommend the Panang bowl floating in river beds of creamy coconut with milk, pork, and pineapple!!!! I didn’t know food could taste this phenomenal!
We have picked up food here several times now and it’s consistently amazing. Wonderful customer service and absolutely delicious food!
Really authentic! Great staff !
Excellent food and good service
Horrible food horrible prices horrible employees just wow disappointing not like it was when it first opened
Loved the owner of the shop. He did great conversation!
Fantastic food!
I really like this place.
-They play relaxing scenes of daily life from rural Vietnam on a television, it makes the restaurant feel calming and is enjoyable.
-The food ingredients are very fresh and the food is well flavored.
-They cut things up into bite sizes. That's just a nice thing and unusual. It was pleasurable to eat as a result.
-The people working here and very kind and friendly.
-The pho is wonderful. They substituted tenderloin for my meat and it's my new favorite type of meat for pho.
-They have Huy Fong Sriracha!
Thank you, will definitely be coming back.
The food was amazing and the staff went all out. Thank you.
Very nice area and friendly staff
I went in to see their selection of food and asked for a can of coke, 2$ is a bit much for a 12oz can. If you like quiet places with a bit of music in the background this is your place, but be prepared to spend more than what you were expecting
Had such a lovely experience. They were incredibly busy, but still took the time to be incredibly sweet and welcoming. Food was delicious, and the lovely lady serving us was amazing. I would definitely recommend coming here
The spring rolls were good! I had some red curry aswell it was super spicy, though I wasn't expecting it to be that spicy, but other than that, it's good! We had it to go so we didn't have a dine in experience with this new company but the old company was fine
Noodles
Food was delicious! I ordered the beef pho and the pad se ew with tofu. Coming from Seattle, I miss the amazing food there. Disappointed with most food in the valley but this place was excellent! Impressed! The only downfall is the super sketchy motel they are embedded in.
I've ordered food for pickup twice now and it was SO GOOD both times! Will definitely keep this on my list.
Before they changed owners, this place used to be good. Now we have had nothing but bad experiences. The first time we ordered two pad thais (through door dash) and we only received one. The food also tasted very bland. The second time, my husband and I both got food poisoning. We are now on day 3 of being extremely sick. I have to say we will never be eating there again.
Good food if you can over look the row of junkies comein in and out the back of there ran down motel. Lock your doors
The meat and rice trays, and the egg and spring rolls that we tried were okay; the fried bananas were better.
All food was extremelyyyyy watery and bland. Every member of our group has a really bad stomach ache right now. Highly recommended to stay far far away
Ordered take out 3 different times now to include 10 min before they closed and without hesitation they took my order and waited for me to pick it up before closing. Food is fantastic and very happy with their level of customer service. Other than being near a shady motel this place is great.
This was my previous review: "I will not buy pho anywhere else in the valley. It is so good, authentic cuisine. The owners are super nice and it's just what you want. Yummy comfort food."
I have altered my opinion since the remodel/remarketing of this restaurant. I used to think that this was the best pho you could get in town. I have changed that stance. The pho is okay now, but certainly not what it was. I'm not quite sure if they changed the recipe/changed cooks, but it does not have the quintessential flavor anymore. It's more of a brown stew than your clear broth pho. Again, it is not bad but it is not pho.
On top of that, the price has also increased by about $6. You used to get a bowl for $14 and now it's $20. I would be more inclined to pay more if the flavor was still there, sadly it is not.
Food was good. Little bit of sewer smell inside the restaurant needs to be ventilated more often.
My wife and I love the food here, she's 1st gen immigrant from SE Asia so you know it's good
So glad my brother suggested this place. My fiance enjoyed his spicy curry fried rice. My nephew loved the pad Thai and ate most of my beef fried rice 💖
My husband and I finally happened in the area when they were open. Decided to give it a whirl because we’d like a good Asian restaurant we don’t have to go to Anchorage for. Oh my goodness! So glad we did! The people were very nice there, the food delish and price was very fair. We will be going there often.
Delicious
This place isn't what it used to be. Used to be our favorite go to spot for Thai in the Valley. The owners were super friendly and always remember when I came in. Sadly though after they changed cooks like a lot of others experience the quality has gone way down. Curry used to be my favorite are now extremely watery and bland, my wife's tasted like coconut milk and spice. A few other dishes we always got they don't even have anymore. Hopefully they change things because they are losing a lot of loyal customers.

Ridiculously slow, just for our food. We ordered 2 same fried rice, usually take me 5mins to cook at home. But this restaurant, took 45mins! People ordered right after us gets their food and finished, our food is not even prepared. Server didn’t come to explain until we show upset faces. There is only one table of customers inside when we arrived, and they are served already. People come way after us gets their food quickly as well. I don’t know about other dishes, but the fried rice is nothing authentic Thai, they didn’t ask me spice level and the fried rice is not spicy at all. Terrible restaurant, don’t recommend, you don’t know if you will be the unlucky one like us.
Fried rice was pretty bland, not much seasoning. It was ready within 15 minutes and they were good with dietary restrictions.
I can’t speak to the current curry, but the Pad Thai and egg rolls were at least as good as they’ve ever been. The Pad Thai is the best I’ve had since moving to Alaska.
I love the way they prepare their takeout—stays quite warm all the way home (about 20 minutes).
Average food taste and low quality food ingredients
Pyszne jedzenie i bardzo miła obsługa. Polecam.
UPDATED 6/23/22: Yikes. This place has increased prices and lost a lot of quality. Gone are the curries I liked so much here. A curry now costs around $16+ and is watery. I am not for it.
Old review: Despite the absolutely horrifying location, this food is unbelievably good. I was shocked when I recently retried this restaurant. The curries have plenty of complexity and are delicious. Their Thai Tea is also better than many places I have had it. If you haven't been here in a while, then give it another shot.
Love this place! Some of the best Thai food in the Matsu & Anchorage area. Great service and friendly staff. Our go to spot for delicious & well spiced soups, noodles, and curries.
One of the best Thai places in the valley. It's the sort of place where I have never had a poor meal. It's one of our go to restaurants.
Best pho I've ever had. Egg rolls were top notch as well.
Found this place while on the way from Anchorage to Denali. Turned out to be awesome, authentic taste which we did not expect.
They a combination of curry and friend together which was unique. No other Thai places do that even if requested.
Consistently amazing.
Good food and the staff was really nice
Stir fry cashew chicken (#12) is really good and if you like it spicy just ask them to prepare it that way. Red Curry Chicken Fried Rice is the also the bomb (#25). Best Thai restaurant in Alaska!
We were a little concerned when we pulled up to Pho and Thai but the reviews were complimentary so we ventured in to give the place a try. Once inside it looked a little more inviting but still pretty questionable. We soldiered on and ordered egg rolls, pineapple fried rice and cashew chicken. First arrived the egg rolls in a very timely fashion and were absolutely wonderful, very fresh contents and you could tell they were also freshly assembled and fried.. Very good..! The other course's arrived soon after and we continued to be impressed. We will return..!
Only improvement I would highly recommend is to give the inside and outside a serious face-lift... Would double your business...
Food .... Five Stars
Building exterior...... Zero Stars
Interior..... One Star
Bart
Front desk guy has great customer service, food is fast and great too!
We ate at this little restaurant in Palmer after a day of driving Hatcher's Pass. Everything, especially the fresh vegetables, was delicious. It was exceptionally clean, the staff lovely, and there was no wait.
Here for vacation, definitely recommend, leaving review for family of four, excellent (dont let location run you off)
The magician in the kitchen made an excellent dinner for the family. Some of the best Thai food I have ever had.
Great Food
Delicious food, big portions, great host!
Authentic Thai food. I havent tried the pho but the dishes I got were delicious. I would definitely go back to this resturant when I return to Alaska!
Very good place, well worth visiting
Good Pho, awful fried rice. It tasted of burned onions. Sadly it went straight to the garbage. Come to think of it, it rather looked like a mish-mash of leftovers heated through.
Easily one of the best Thai places in the Mat Su. 90% of the time if I’m hungry and in Palmer I eat here.
Super friendly staff and the pineapple fried rice, broccoli fried rice, egg rolls, and chicken sate - our favorites, such wonderful flavor. Top three of our favorite places to eat in Palmer, AK.
The only place in Palmer for Thai or Pho. I would highly recommend the chicken pad-thai and egg-rolls with the house made sweet and sour. Take out only at moment and it’s the only foreign cuisine near Palmer. With that said, I order at least once a week. Never a line and always ready in 20 min.
Great food!!
Everything was awesome
Delicious noodles
First we fell for their spicy pho soup and now, after years, have tried many of their fresh dishes! They are wonderful.
Love this place, kinda a hole in the wall, but excellent food, excellent service, and place is very clean
Great food but bad motel
Always friendly, always clean. My favorite Thai food in Alaska. The building is a dumpy old Chinese restaurant; let it go. They’re wearing masks. Had some five days ago and the craving is back...
This place is doesn’t look fancy but we have eaten there over and over and it’s always great. Definitely a favorite.
Very good pick up.
Great curry chicken. So glad we have good Thai food in the Valley.
Yum! We ordered red curry fried rice and panang fried rice both with chicken, so delicious! They looked simular, but had different distinct flavors. We also had a Thai iced tea, perfection. Portions were bigger then we could finish in one sitting so looking forward to eating the leftovers later.
Amazing yellow curry, I dream about this stuff
I am soooo glad you guys are here! I love Thai food and yours is amazing. The chicken pho is great, love the Pad thai and the Curry fried rice is the best thing I've eaten here. Plus, you guys are speedy when ordering out.
Soooo good! I'm Thai and I can tell that I recommended here. My hubby not like Thai food much but for this place , he eat everything I ordered!!
I would love to eat here again!!
It's close, i like the food
Great place for take out and the owners are very friendly.
The food was delicious 😋 and fresh!
One of the best green chicken curry I've ever had, and absolutely hit the spot on this cold day. Would recommend to anyone who is in the area and looking for good curry.
We recently moved from Colorado and couldn’t find a place we loved till this one! This has the best food ever. We always have the Pho Beef and have tried their noodles as well as rice. Best in town for sure.
Fast, friendly service. great food.
Will definitely will be back
I’ve been eating here a while now. Every time the food is perfect and delicious and the staff is nice and pleasant. 10/10 would recommend
Great food , fast and always friendly. A MUST TRY .
Fast service and good food.
Panang was excellent. Large portion.
A small place but food is really good. The place is run by a family so you get a homey environment and a nice hot meal. We went there twice in our visit to palmer. The Tom yam soup is a must, it just felt heavenly.
The yellow curry is just spicy enough to make you happy you have taste buds. The fried spring rolls are what I dream about. The best.
We were quite apprehensive when we walked into this place as the outside look of the place was a bit sketchy.
We set out foot inside and the aromas of the kitchen immediately made us feel, we were in the right place.
Run by a Vietnamese family, the food was quite good.
Service was good as well. Ignore the look and feel.. You won't be disappointed with the food. The locals throng this place and for a reason. 10/10..
Great food! Pho is so delicious and rice is the best Jasmine rice, all meals are not too sweet and also not too salty. The chili paste (oil) is the real Chinese Szechuan style, amazing!
Really great little restaurant! I’ve only had the Pad Thai and fried rice, since that’s what I like, but they’re both really good. Friendly staff too
What a great find! Super friendly staff and excellent food! I’ll be back!
I passed by
Nestled in the center of a motel this is truly a hole in the wall that is worth discovering. Spring rolls and curry were amazing.
the food is okay and service is good but not what I would expect for drunken noodles. the tom yum soup was okay tho.
After reading positive reviews we decided to give the place a try. Outside looks a bit sketchy, but inside it is clean (although tired). We went in specifically for the Pad Thai, and it was excellent! I ordered the medium spice and my wife ordered the mild. The mild is very very mild, and the medium is what I call an Alaskan medium, not very spicy at all, next time I will get hot and see how it fares. We also got the egg rolls and they did not disappoint, excellent!
Food is excellent, staff is polite and professional, and the prices were typical. We will most definitely be going back. Don’t let the outside scare you away, a great meal in downtown Palmer!
Great food. But I hate being upcharged for substitutions!
Went back in, wasn't charged...
Went again, and was charged!?!
They need to decide! My exact same meal wouldn't be a different price everytime I go in...
Shrimp pineapple fried rice
No onions
Sub mushrooms
Add cashews
With peanut sauce
What a great place to eat but they don't have their special sauce for their egg rolls no longer fell in love with them first time I ate that but so I guess I'll be going back to McDonald's or something
Best egg rolls in Ak! Great service and delicious food!! Don’t let the look of the place scare you away :)
Good food
This place has awesome food! They are really quick too. Seems to me they are really fresh and they are always open to teach a little Thai here and there. Friendly owners and staff - sometimes the credit card machine is slow hahaa
Great restaurant! The location had a poor reputation due to a previous business, but the current management has really stepped up the place. It is clean and tidy inside, and the food is delicious. You can tell it is made from scratch. I will be eating there often.
I was so happy to find a great Thai restaurant in Palmer. For appetizers I had the Chicken Satay and Spring rolls. The Spring rolls come with an amazing peanut sauce that is out of this world. For my main dish I had the Salmon Prik Khing Curry it was incredibly flavorful. The service was impeccable and the price is very reasonable. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.
Pretty good food and the service was great! The outside may look a little outdated but the good makes up for it. Try the Curry Fried Rice! It is great!!
Is best thai I have had in alaska
Mediocre
Best Thai food
Delicious food, decent prices, big portions; you can't get better on this side of the valley!
Great food and service.
This place offers very good Thai cuisine
Cozy Vietnamese option with the best pho north of Anchorage. The aroma when you walk in that it's a bona fide pho spot and will get you salivating right away. Not the largest portions of meat, but some of the best pho broth we've had anywhere (including all over the Lower 48). Good spring rolls, too! They frequently run a coupon ad in the Mat-Su Frontiersman as well.
Yum
Best yellow curry ever!
Very good
Palmer's best kept secret when it comes to Asian cuisine. The host is always polite and the food is always great. Don't let the motel scare you off.
Good food. Clean restaurant. Great taste.
After spending the day hiking the Matanuska Glacier, we were starving and Palmer was the nearest town with restaurants. I had a craving for Thai food and this place appeared in a Google search. I was a little apprehensive, after seeing it was located within a motel. But we went inside anyways. The food was great! Never judge a book by its cover, apparently.
Very good service and delicious food!
Amazing Thai food. All dishes are grand.
Food is good and you get good portions for the money
Good Thai food on the way way to matanuska
Delicous Thai food and great serivice. Love the Thai green tea and cashew chicken
Really good food, fair price and really fast. Not much for atmosphere, but clean & friendly.
I go here every so often and am never disappointed.
