Rice is a family-owned local restaurant that is proud to combine only the finest and freshest ingredients to create a variety of delectable asian fusion, Thai Cuisine and Sushi.
This was our first time trying Rice. We’ve been interested in the menu, but haven’t had the chance to make a visit, but tonight was Valentine’s and we were looking for a low key spot with an open table and decided to give it a try since it’s off the beaten path.
We were pleasantly surprised by the warm ambiance and low, intimate lighting upon entry. They were pretty busy, which I took as a good sign, but we were seated immediately and our server was super friendly from the start. She made nice conversation and was very attentive throughout the evening.
We tried the Bulldog roll, the Spicy salmon roll, seaweed salad, tuna nigiri, and I had the Thai BBQ chicken entree. Everything was absolutely fantastic! The rolls were balanced with great flavor profiles and we felt the fish and seaweed salad were some of the freshest quality we’ve gotten anywhere lately. However, I REALLY have to praise the chicken. I used to patron a very popular Thai restaurant in Birmingham that served its own rendition of Thai BBQ chicken, and it was amongst my most favorite dishes from anywhere. It’s been well over a decade since I’ve been there and I’ve never seen it served anywhere else. I must tell you, the Thai BBQ chicken from Rice was just as good and brought back so many fond memories of the place I used to go in Bham. The light sweet and savory sauce was just as I have always remembered and the chicken was so tender, succulent, and just fall off the bone. I honestly don’t know how they manage to compose a dish so well with such a fast turn around, but it was truly a delight.
Lastly, I have to comment on the prices. I was shocked at how affordable everything was. My entree alone would’ve fetched twice as much downtown and my soco cocktail was only $6, which is unheard for any alcoholic beverage from many other places. We each had a drink, 2 sushi rolls, additional sides and a large entree and still came out around $80 including tip. Honestly, we can’t wait to go back. I highly recommend!
Amazing Thai food in AL! The crab rangoons were crispy and filled with filling, and the satay sticks were so juicy and tender! They didn’t need any sauce, but the peanut sauce paired with it was next level! The fried rice tasted like hibachi, and the serving sizes were really good. The coconut sauce on the mango sticky rice was nutty and creamy, pairing perfectly with the fresh juicy mango!
I have been to Rice before but it had been awhile since my last visit. I can’t remember what I had the last time but it was reason enough to come back. Although I had no idea what I wanted I knew I could choose something that I could almost guarantee I’d like.
The char-grilled pork platter sounded good. I had some chicken earlier in the day and wanted something different. I ordered online and went to go pick up my food,
It was ready when I got there. I got my food and proceeded to drive home. When I got home I was very hungry. I opened the plastic bag and got my boxes of food out. Normally when getting take out the plastic bag is tied way too tight. This plastic bag was easy to get open. Now that may not be important for your eating experience it is for me for some reason.
Anyway, there was a box for the rice and then the main course. I dumped the rice into the char-grilled pork platter. There were 2 sauces that came with the meal. I didn’t have a clue what to use them for so I put the chili sauce on the pork and vegetables and rice. There was also a rice vinegar type sauce that I put on the fried shrimp and fried egg. Next time I need to look at the menu more closely so I can use the sauces properly.
The food was really delicious. The pork was flavorful. I loved the shrimp and fried egg too. I’ll say the vegetables didn’t have much seasoning but adding the chili sauce helped.
Thought I would give this place a try, it was okay, I've had better, the food was alright, I ordered Gyoza as an app and they lacked the flavor punch I'm used to, and the dipping sauce for some reason tasted extra sweet like it had maple syrup In it or something. My friend tried it and said the same thing which Is weird. The menu when looking at it looks good but the food when it comes out was completely different. I got the Pad Woodsen with shrimp which was pretty good, not the greatest but manageable and my friend got the chicken platter which was all over the place, chicken strips looked like the frozen bagged ones and which he asked for no broccoli and still got served broccoli. And he had also put in it to go order and they completely forgot about that. I wish I could give it more stars, but there's a lot other better places.
Great food and good lunch specials that come with a side and soup. I usually get the spring rolls and the egg drop soup. My favorite dish is the Thai fried rice. The curry dishes are also good. They have yellow, green and masaman. The staff is very nice and helpful. Clean restaurant.
Moved to area 3 months ago, & got snowed in, work day canceled, so I decided to try their lunch. Ordered Prik Pao chicken cashew, extra hot, with spring roll, jasmine rice, & Tom Kuh soup. Food was ready & waiting in less than 15 minutes. Entree was tasty, as was the soup, and the soup was actually more spicey than the Prik Pao. The jasmine rice was just simply... bland white rice. The spring roll was not what I'm used to... not sure why it was so soft & rubbery & greasy without much flavor. Overall for $15, I wasn't very impressed. But at least I didn't break the bank on a dinner for $20-30. Next time I want to try their curry & see if maybe it was just a bad day in the kitchen because of the snow storm.
This is one of the most relaxing places in Mobile. Ate here again today, after my visit to the VA eye doctor; my eyes were still very dilated, but the comfortable lighting in this place allowed me to enjoy my food without sunglasses 😁😎The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. I'm showing pics of the Appetizer Sampler, but we also had Pad Woon Sen with seafood (my favorite!) And, Gabriel had the chicken fried rice. And, I, of course, had a pot of green tea 🥰
Great place we eat here all the time I'm not big on Thai food so we stick to the fried rice and sushi. Sushi is awesome! Pork fried rice is my favorite rice to get and also try the egg rolls and egg drop soup. Locally owned and operated everyone there is nice and happy to help. Good little place to go relax on your own, date night or a party.
This food was awful.

The only issue I had was the substitution wasn't added so I was shorted an item, other than that I'm so glad I tried it
You can tell this place is popular with locals! Their weekday specials are a GREAT option!

My first time and I'll be back.
Good food. Sushi was excellent. Finally tried a place close to me and it was outstanding. Good quick service
Excellent experience
I got the teriyaki chicken lunch special. The pork egg roll and egg drop soup were fine, but the teriyaki chicken looked like an option off a Chinese buffet-cheap and not very tasty. My friend got the beef lo mein and did not like her meat either.
Sushi was great! Ordered Edamame as a starter and it was delicious as well.
We get takeout from Rice at least once a month. It is always fresh, delicious and my order is always accurate. It is the best Asian in Mobile, in my opinion. It used to be China Doll, before it got sold, but after it got sold, it went downhill. Now it is closed. The bottom line is Rice is good no matter what you get 😋
Great food and good lunch specials that come with a side and soup. I usually get the spring rolls and the egg drop soup. My favorite dish is the Thai fried rice. The curry dishes are also good. They have yellow, green and masaman. The staff is very nice and helpful. Clean restaurant.
Thai chicken noodles, egg roll and soup not good sorry!
We enjoy coming here every time. Friendly service and great atmosphere.
Delicioso 😋 😋
It was so wonderful to finally find a restaurant that servers Chinese food like they use too. Example: I stopped ordering sweet and sour chicken, because it was reduced to glorified chicken nuggets, with a redish glob of thick sauce. No longer where they making it proper way with a light and proper balance of sweet and sour sauce, and it is also accompanied by bell peppers and onions and pineapple, which is perfectly sautéed, with a side of jasmine rice. After over 20 years, I was able to have the tasty pleasure of true sweet and sour chicken.
I can not wait to return there and try more of their delishesh items that are properly made.
I would give them a thousand stars if I could.
Recommend shrimp fried rice Tom kah spring rolls combo

Good curry, professional friendly staff.

Quite a pleasant surprise hiding in plain sight! Delicious food. This would be a favorite of ours if we were local
They've raised the price of their sushi but are now giving less. They used to give you the entire roll, including the end pieces. If I'm paying more, I should be getting the entire roll that I paid for.. 😡 it’s disappointing because the food here is really good but i wont return if they keep skimping on portions.
Very relaxing and pleasant. Excellent service. Clean as a whistle. Super quick food to the table and they brought my child’s food first. After we left the previous eatery for horrible service and never got our food this place was an oasis. Thank you guys!
I occasionally order the drunken noodles as a treat because it's typically one of the most delicious things I've ever had.
Just got some tonight. They were the most bland, unseasoned, plain noodles I've ever ate in my life. The predominant flavor was oil. I was very disappointed as I had been seriously craving and looking forwards to the normal dish.
I'm really hoping this was a one time thing caused by a cook having a bad night and not indicative of future performance.
Great selection. Food was tasty
Great Thai -We usually get the Spring Rolls, large Tom Kai Soup with Jasmine rice (2stars for how hot you want it, a little spicy 🌶️) & extra mushrooms & chicken 😍, & Chicken Pad Thai. We also like the Chicken Lo Mein. The food is hot, fresh and made to order. The service is friendly. The restaurant has always been clean and tidy.
Fresh food and definitely get your monines worth of food..
Easily one of the best Asian restaurants in Mobile. Massaman curry and Prik Pao chicken are out of this world and the service is always great.
Delicious lunch specials !
I used to really Iove it here, but lately it hasn’t been very good. We usually really like the General Tso chicken but today it was very soggy, it’s supposed to be crispy…. The breading was just falling off because of how soggy it was. We will definitely be looking for a new go to Asian food.
Sushi was good, but the cashew shrimp and ginger shrimp that we ordered had too little flavor, and too much corn starch was used to thicken the sauce.
Fast
Good
Great price
Never a bad meal!
I ordered beef and broccoli and it was the nastiest plate of food I’ve ever seen. I got maybe 4 flat pieces of grey beef on a huge plate slathered in “gravy” of some sort with the broccoli dripping with said gross “gravy.” This was our first time here and it will be our last. The egg rolls were the best thing we had.
The menu is excellent 👌. Has pictures of every dish.
Lunch special was great today. Always enjoy eating here
Entitled Black Woman complaining about her time, because she was more important than everyone else. They didnt finish cooking my noodles/lomein and hurried my food out not all the way cooked so they could get the entitled queen her meal now.Wont go back, price does not match the service and food.
One of best restaurants in mobile
The food one minute is amazing so we go back and the food is lousy doesn't taste the same isn't cooked the same and they appear offended if you ask about a new chef. The only item that doesn't appear to have changed or the amount you get is the chicken fried rice. But ordering within gets you more than take out order for the same price. We used to call this one of our favorite take outs no more.
We’ve eaten here several times and whether it’s take-out or dine-in, the food is always great and the service is good too. The chicken pad Thai is delicious and their sushi options are eclectic and delicious.
Food is always awesome! Service is always great. Anytime I have been there it has been pretty busy, so be careful it might be busy.
Good Sushi menu.
Good service.
Cold Beer.
They use beef cubes for their pho broth instead of cooking a proper soup. Nasty and gives the dish a bad name.
Food is the reason I go here
RICE never disappoints when it comes to their stir fry. My usual is the Pad broccoli tofu, add ginger and cabbage. It's so yummy! I don't know how anyone can make tofu so tender, but they did just that. Love this place and their staff. I definitely will be back!
Large menu. Something for everyone. Awesome food. Great service.
The crab and shrimp rice always has shells but it is good
The pineapple rice was good the chicken seems very thin
Quiet atmosphere
Good attentive service
Never disappointed here!! Fast service, wonderful food.
A group of ladies had a small baby shower at Rice. We chose it for the convenience in vicinity and parking. I suggested it because it’s my favorite eatery. Everyone was so thrilled with the helpful service and the food was perfectly delicious. They went the extra without my even asking for dessert plates and serving utensils for the cake. The place was packed full that day, but we were given the best service.
We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sushi, and even the crab fried rice and lo mein were pretty good too. The waitress was very attentive and gave good service for our party of 9. We were on a road trip from Houston to Destin, and if we're ever driving through we will definitely stop by!
The food is consistently good. They were also very receptive to our request to modify some dishes. It’s a good place to eat.
Awesome place.
What impressed me the most was the service we received by our server, Siriphan (aka "Pepsi). We were there in the middle of the day 2:45-3:30. Not a time of day in which I expected perfect service. The kitchen times on our appetizers and entrees were impeccable and like I already said, "Pepsi", was an absolute joy. I will definitely make this my "go to" lunch spot when I go to Mobile and definitely when I'm trapped in traffic on Airport Blvd. Extra BONUS, open 11am til 9 pm. No disappointing locked door in the middle of the day. Yea!!! PS If "Rice Asian Grille" reads this, the summer rolls could use more Thai basil and less Napa Cabbage however the cut cucumbers were brilliant! Thanks again "RICE"!!!
Much bigger than it looks from the outside and set up as a dine in with carry out available. Food was quick & tasty. Yes they have a full bar and it would be a good place for diner with a group or just 2.
One of my favorite restaurants in Mobile. The food is phenomenal every time we dine here. My go to is their won- ton soup, pineapple fried rice, and the tempura fried vegetables. But, I also enjoy the Tom Kah soup. "Pepsi" our server, makes a fantastic Saketini.
Been here multiple times, always so good!!
I chose this place instead of running to Saraland; I should’ve taken the drive. I paid over $12.00 for this “Meal”, and the plate was LIGHT. At my regular location in Saraland, I would have received MORE food, for the price that I paid at this location. Very disappointed with the amount of food received; restaurant is rather Pricy.
Thought I would give this place a try, it was okay, I've had better, the food was alright, I ordered Gyoza as an app and they lacked the flavor punch I'm used to, and the dipping sauce for some reason tasted extra sweet like it had maple syrup In it or something. Yum!!
My wife, daughter and I went for dinner after Christmas shopping. We got egg drop soup, sushi as an appetizer, fried rice, a noodle dish and a chicken dish. It was too much food, but very good and I was able to enjoy leftovers for a couple of days. We will return.
อร่อย
We ordered wontons, summer rolls, grilled chicken noodles and general’s chicken with jasmine rice. The wontons were good, the rice was ok, the summer rolls were barely passable,
The grilled chicken was dry — with no bean sprouts or carrots as per description, and the lime chili sauce was actually a vinegar sauce. The general’s chicken was horrible. Soggy and flavorless. We cannot recommend this place.
Great Thia
Great service! Most of the rolls were ok. I'd love to see more fresh fish rolled and less fried everything.
Not impressed at all. I ordered general tso's chicken for lunch. The chicken was the frozen processed chunks you get from the supermarket that was soft and flavorless like it was cooked in the microwave. My coworker had the basil chicken which he could not finish it was so bad.
good food good service
The food was very good. The service was a little slow but I think it was because our server was somewhat new. It’s someplace I would definitely recommend.
This is one of the most relaxing places in Mobile. Our fave place in Mobile! Whenever we travel to the area, this is always our go to dinner spot!
Excellent Service and Food 🍱
Awesome Establishment
I didn't have any quarrel with the service provided, but the food lacked in flavor.
Good food at a decent price
no soy sauce for white rice
Wonderful food, amazing service, lots of delicious options and variety.
Fast service
This is a good little restaurant. Sushi rolls were made from fresh ingredients. There were many local rolls. A few of the traditional like the California Roll were there as well.
Very good food and great service. Loved the Chicken Pad Thai and Tom Kah soup !!!
Fantastic meal at lunch on a Friday no wait, try the Ginger stir fry !
Quite disapointed to see and even more disappointed to taste… Teriyaki source was extremely salty and pad tai lunch special has tiny bit of bean sprouts only.
Orange chicken was just chicken strips with three thin slices of oranges.
Sushi was beyond description. Rice was old and salmon was just minutes before going bad…
Will not say anymore… Tried 4 dishes and they are all terrible and very different from pictures on website..
Wonderful restaurant! Lots of options and everything I’ve had has been delicious.
Eat here for lunch often. Love the food and people.
Great food!! The sushi is wonderful!
Amazing food. A little pricey but delicious!
Tom ka soup is fantastic.
Everything we ate here was great. Super clean too.
We enjoyed the Massaman Curry and Pad Thai. Both delicious!
Pineapple fried rice and prik chicken my favorite.
Some of the best fried rice I have ever had
My wife and I enjoyed a very nice lunch. Excellent food and service.
The reviews on this place must comes from people who don't cook. Seriously this places flavors are basic and bland. Tried it twice. Normally the vibe I get when I first enter a restaurant tells me how the food will be. Well I got a bad vibe instantly. The woman at the register didn't look at me, just looked at the news on the television. But I ordered anyway. Fast forward to home. Ordered orange chicken. All I got was sauce in a cup, battered chicken strips, lettuce underneath, 2 broccoli stems, a few shredded carrot strips ,3 half orange slices and a small serving of white rice for $15.00. I've been to Thailand and this was not Thai food at all. This is my second time there hoping the first time was just a bad day. Fried rice with pineapple. Also plain and dull. I never right reviews. But this meal was horrible. I could have bought chicken breast, breaded them myself, bought orange sauce from Walmart, and cooked some rice myself. Lettuce. That was ridiculous. Thumbs down. They need a real chef in the kitchen
I had the sesame chicken and it was very good.
I get Tom Ka from here 2-3 times a month. Best Thai food in town.
It's a very nice place but I didn't care for what I had (sweet and sour chicken). Maybe I should have had the sushi
The food is always great and the service was great as well.
Good stuff
Food didn't taste fresh, another couple who was across from us said that their chicken was burnt.
Awesome in every way.
Always great food, my favorite is the crab fried rice. It is made with real crab meat not the imitation stuff.
Food Great
Very good food help needs some work but all in all great
Ordered takeout. Not very good.
Great food Great service. Reasonable prices.
Sushi is the best. Fresh and tasty.
Been going here for years, and it's always been delicious and well portioned. They gave me the incorrect order once out of the several times I've been and the were very gracious and replaced it without question.
Great food and great service
Spicy fried rice is a must.
Great food and a good lunch special. This was my first visit so I haven't tried a big variety of dishes, but everyone in my party was pleased with their food. I want to go back to try the sushi. The lunch special comes with an appetizer, soup, and entree and ranges from 8 to 11 bucks depending on your choice of meat. We will definitely be back to try additional dishes.
Excellent service and sushi. I walked in, placed a to go order. Before I could finish my beer, my order was ready. The sushi rolls were delicious. I'll definitely return in the near future.
Very nice place to eat. Sushi was excellent and restaurant had a great atmosphere to it!
Not Japanese but not supposed to be. Everything was very tasty. Very dim restaurant, extremely nice and quiet.
Definitely returning. Vast menu.
Great place! It’s really peaceful and nice. Their food is really good too. We ordered some sushi and spring rolls and they were delicious! Great costumer service too! But o my gosh their food was so good and lots of options to choose from to. Great place, I highly recommended it!
the presentation of meals here is fantastic. even their cheapest plates are still made up beautifully. very clean establishment, and attentive friendly staff. and whoever is in charge of sushi really knows how to wow their patrons!
Happy with place. Good food.
Yikes. I ordered 11 bucks worth of soup from Uber Eats. I thought, huh it's 11 so it should be a lot of soup & good quality ingredients right? Wrong. It's only a quart of soup and a bit of rice. The soup is too salty and they used canned mushrooms. way overpriced for what you're getting. Try Bankok Thai instead at least you're getting your 11 bucks worth.
Excellent sushi, nice and big; and noodles were tasty, but lo mein very small portion. Love the jazz music playing and the decor is nice. There was only one or two other tables, as it was late for lunch and early for dinner, so nice to find them open. A few pickup orders came and went. Little high priced for small amounts of food.
Every time I order the green curry to-go I ask for no green beans, extra zucchini and every time they get it wrong! Instead I get extra green beans or no change in the order at all, this time I got no green beans and no zucchini!
So I always meant to try this place and I'm glad I did today. My friend and I got a few appetizers, soup and sushi. It was all good. Only wish that there was a sushi lunch. They have Chinese/Thai lunch menu which looked decent. Maybe I'll try it next time.
Service was good and food was well prepared. Atmosphere was very good and restaurant was well maintain. I will return. Best Asian restaurant I have found in the Mobile area.
This was second time eating at Rice and it was delicious! I had the Pad See Eew for lunch. The service was great, quick and the prices were awesome for all that you get with the lunch special.
