No-frills storefront selection for basic Southeast Asian fare & vegetarian dishes in a strip mall.
Absolutely authentic, delicious, fresh and exciting. We randomly stopped in, as we don't live on Mercer Island, however, we will drive out here just for this delightful food.
This place is all about the food. It's a small, intimate atmosphere which made me reminiscent of the many places I ate while traveling Asia. I felt right at home.
We should have gotten the phad thai, it's the chefs signature dish. What we got was seriously tasty though. We had Larb Gai chicken salad which was fresh, bursting with herbs and tangy lime dressing. Chili fried rice and a phad prik sod with chicken. All meat was quality and cut very well with the freshest crunchy vegetables.
Biggest bonus to this experience was the chef stopping by the table to ensure everything was good, thanking us for coming in and inviting us back. There aren't enough places like this.
This is our go-to comfort food spot for chicken satay, massamun curry, and a coconut milk Thai iced tea. We’ve been coming here for 30 years after karate and driver’s ed and half days and for celebrations and on rainy days and lunches with my grandmother. I hope Pon Proem is here forever! It’s always a special treat in our family, even now that my own daughter is grown. ❤️
Well neither of us liked our meal and we needed to wait a long time to pay even after they said they would get a check. So 2 stars is generous
I am so happy to know that there is a cozy and delicious Thai restaurant on Mercer Island! The food was very tasty and the portions were huge; my husband and I both took home significantly full to-go boxes. The kind owner of the restaurant even brought my husband an extra serving of rice to take home with his curry. I definitely recommend Pon Proem and I will be back!
Sad to see how far down hill this place has gone. When I was a kid I loved eating here. They had flavorful authentic thai cuisine. Unfortunately, the few times I've gone here in the last five years have been ENTIRELY disappointing. Lackluster service and mall-food-court flavors. Expect a huge portion of extremely mediocre food. I hope they can turn it around.
This is excellent authentic Thai food and it's clear the chef loves his creations. Over the last few years I've had most of the menu selections and have never been disappointed.
I would be careful about this place! I ordered a vegetarian dish. After taking the leftover home I saw a slice of pork in there!! I can eat meat but now I can't stop imagining what goes on in the kitchen 😭
I ignored the bad reviews which was a bad idea. The curry was majorly watered down. There was no heat in the restaurant so I had to wear a jacket the entire time.

Delicious food and fast service. Recommend to anyone on the island!
Really amazing meal, the chef came out and thanked us for coming in. The panang curry, pad kee mao, hot and sour soup, and pineapple fried rice were all amazing!
Our favorite Thai food place! Good food, good service!
Wow, surpassing disappointing
The service was good but the food was not our favorite. Specifically the wide rice noodles were hard and chewy.

Waited over 45 minutes for take out and only two tables were seated in the restaurant. Food had no flavor and beef was over cooked. The staff doesn’t smile or welcome you.
My family loves the green curry!

Mediocre , uninspired dishes.
We had takeout last night, and the food tasted very odd. The white rice tasted like soap, and the curry did not taste right. We have been eating here for years but it has really gone downhill. Won’t eat here again.
This place is awesome! I grew up in Washington and was always eating Thai food and recently lived in San Francisco for the past 4 years. Nothing beats this places Pad Thai. It’s saucy, flavorful and the portion size is perfect for two to split!
Inedible.
If I wanted reheated sub par food I would’ve just paid 1/4 the price from the grocery store frozen section. Better yet, that would’ve been a serious improvement in texture and flavor.
Advise to avoid.
Not sure if this was just an off night, but decided to try a new place (to us) on Mercer Island and it was super disappointing. Shockingly bad. Afraid to eat it bad. Maybe they are in transition but opened up the food when we got home and no rice, larb had soggy shredded cabbage in it and no sticky rice. Phad Thai was a gummy ball and felt like someone cooking it was just hoping no one would notice or didn’t care. Fried tofu might have been off/expired. Had to toss it. Wasn’t busy, so that wasn’t the issue. So hard to be a small business now I know, but also a major bummer to spend $100+ on Thai food and feel sick and throw it out. Felt compelled to warn. So many good Thai places in the area (Seattle or Bellevue). Avoid this one.
Amazing food and great service. I am a vegetarian but my family eats meat, and my kids LOVED the tofu pad Thai. Excellent value for the quality of food. A very nice man is running the show all by himself while an elderly thai man is cooking. Authentic in every way.
Always a great choice. Different flavor than in years past, but still very good. The pad see ew is the way to go
Not sure what happened but last time we ordered here a few months ago, the food was decent. This time everything is bad in their own way. We can't baear to finish either dish (fried rice and pad see yu)
This place is gross. Our table and wine glasses were dirty. Overpriced, poor quality food. Service was bad. 0/10 would not recommend.
Great food and very friendly owners
Stopped by on Friday night only to find out this is takeout only. Don't bother coming here.
Kim was great service !!! he even gave us water on the side with lemon slices. super thoughtful on advices for choices !! he deserves 5 stars !!
I only had american express and sadly they didn’t take my credit . 4 stars since they can’t take express and also no dine in.
I really wanted to give this place a better review but unfortunately the food I ordered from here was some of the most bland Thai food I've ever had :( I ordered chicken fried rice and pad Thai and my fried rice had literally 0 flavor. It didn't taste bad, it just didn't taste like anything! I dumped hoisin sauce, sesame & soy sauce all over when I got home and then I could eat it. The pad Thai, like others have commented, also lacked flavor. But they give you HUGE portions! I got 4 meals out of the one pad Thai I ordered. And the people who work there are very friendly. I'm going to give it another shot and order different things before I fully make up my mind. My bf got the spicy fried rice and his was good! We also ordered those 3 entrees on a Sunday night around 6 and it was done within 15 minutes which is great too.
Pad Thai tasted very sour and the noodles were soggy. Do not recommend at all. Try something else

This is a highly authentic Thai Restaurant. The food is perfect every time, with large servings and easy on-line ordering. I ask for 10 star spiciness and this does not fail to deliver. My partner prefers zero and is never disappointed either.
Delicious food!
Quick and easy to order online
The best Thai food ever! My friends and I go here all the time, for dine in and take out. The quality is the same either way, and it's great! The service is good and the staff is very friendly
Food was great.
I had the pork fried rice. Delicious.
It was pretty good and to-go service was quick.
A decent Thai place on MI with some good lunch specials at good prices. The food is good, but sometimes too sweet. A nice place to dine in though.
Food was good. The service was excellent.
Food was just ok. Refused to honor the Entertainment coupon. This was particularly disappointing since they were the ones who posted the coupon with Entertainment to begin with.
Give it go ... We enjoy goo Thai food.
I went for the first time today the review had me a little apprehensive. I tried a number 2 stir-fry beef dish and it was good a tad bit on the sweet side. The service was great and you could taste the freshness i will up my rating after exploring the menu more.

Good food, appropriate amount of food for the cost
Fantastic flavor with excellent service from the owner!! I'll be back....
Our first visit. Good food and service. We'll be back.
Favorite Thai spot on Mercer Island. So delicious every time, super fast, amazing staff
Chicken fried rice is amazing!
Good, a bit on the spicy side
I enjoy the lunch specials here. Nice wait staff. I like the red curry...
The staff is always super friendly and the food is always good.
Amazing. The beef salad is out of this world. Curry, and drunken noodles were phenomenal. Cannot wait to visit again.
The cashiers are rude & they give you the wrong order, the waiting time takes forever and its freezing inside .
Chicken Wings.
Definitely better Thai food out there and a bit over priced.
Ordered a delicious combination of food for a group of friends and we couldn't stop eating every last morsel, it was so good!
Been coming here for years. Can't beat the food.
Good Thai Food for the Island. Enjoyed the Pad Thai the most.
Great Thai food and reasonable prices! The curry fried rice was delicious.
Great service and Thai food. Staff is very welcoming.
Fantastic Thai at a decent price
Excellent curry, very good tofu preparation.
Small portions for the money, but good food. Oh, and prices on Web page of Pon Proem mercer island are advertised about $3 less than what they really are.
Portions small. Actually cut in half. Heavy reliance on onions and reduced tghe amount of anything els so they can cut costs. This has happened twice in the past month. NEVER AGAIN. Do not bother because there is a thai restaurant every other corner.
